Lost on the Outskirts [Cassandra]

"Perhaps you're right," Cassandra mused releasing the General's wrist. All the gladder for a distracting from the turmoil of foreign emotions that roiled within her chest. "Either way it wasn't worth the risk exposing me to the effigy." The Doctor mused letting a far more morbid chuckle roll from her lips as Denryu danced around the topic of her mortality.
"I've been keeping detailed notes since all this began. On the off chance that when and if this kills me perhaps the information can go towards preventing future victims from following in my footsteps." Cassandra explained for in truth the file on herself and her own symptoms was one of the key parts of project Pandora. It's recipient already pre-determined.
"You asked how I take the 'edge' off of my instincts, but it's not the urge to kill, consume, or blindly fight that the D-reaper instills in it's agents that haunts me. It's the loneliness. Humans are social creatures, Reapers even more so. I suspect being a core with no hive would have driven me mad or to the point of attacking anything that came near me in a few scant weeks were it not for Paradise." The Doctor explained rising at the sound of a soft knock at the bedroom door.
"Your company and Metal Drive is what takes off the 'edge' General." Cas admitted unlocking the door to usher Jegan inside. The little Medicmon pausing to glance over Denryu in surprise now that his injuries however cared for, were laid bare.
"I do hope the other guy looks worse for wear then yourself General. I see now why the Doctor called me." Jegan quipped shuffling towards the edge of the bed.

"Hm."
Alright, so the notes did exist - it might have been worth Denryu's time to at least take a look into them. Cassandra's approach seemed to be more precautionary than active, however. That thought was soon pushed to the back of his head, as Cassandra picked at another point: the 'edge'. Though the General spoke in more general terms, thinking of medication or something along those lines, her answer still struck home.
"Something that basic? Well, I suppose that sounds about right." Actually, now that he thought about it, what place in the Digital World could Cassandra actually go, without a disguise, and hold a 'normal' social interaction? That would have been just Paradise and Mikemon's office, right?
As the gears still turned in his head, he found his thought interrupted by the knock at the door, and the appearance of the Medicmon.
"Truth be told, its hard to out-punch an archer." Denryu gave a sigh, scooting over to allow Jegan easier access to his side. "I'll be frank, I just need it fixed." He understood the risks of such accelerated healing, but its not like he had all the time in the world to recover!

"I suppose he's healthy enough for near complete healing, but rush or no rush we cease the healing the second the scars form." Cas ordered glancing between the General and Jegan as the little digimon got into position. "And unfortunately there will be scars." The Doctor explained with a mild wince.
"While it's unfortunate to hear an archer got the better of you the Doctor is right. I will heal you to the point the scars are fresh, but if I do more than that then it may restrict your movement. You will need to stretch and let the scars heal naturally to keep them flexible." The little Medicmon explained before with a nod from the Doctor he began to cascade a beam of warm blue light over the General. Slowly he would begin to feel is wounds knit closed from the inside out as his healing process was rapidly sped up.
"You'll need to sleep and eat after this. It will burn a lot of your energy General." Cas warned, but true to her and her mercs word the wounds on his side, arm, and even face began to close. Jegan's healing only tapering off when fresh pink scars took their place.
Jegan uses Patchjob -Patch Job: Bombarding a target with healing light Medicmon may close up the wounds of a rookie or below Digimon in a single turn, the wounds of a Champion Digimon in two turns, and the wounds of a Perfect Digimon in four turns. This however does not magically 'fix' the injury, but is in fact Medicmon speeding up his targets own healing process meaning that if a broken bone is not properly set or if a wound is not properly cleaned and cared for it will heal up wrong. Both Medicmon and their target must remain stationary during this process.

"One can't expect to fight in that world and come away unscathed. Just do what you have to do."
Really, that was all there was to it. Allowing the Medicmon access to his side, Denyu simply gave out a calm breath as the rookie sped up the healing process. It was as Cassandra warned: Jegan didn't 'add' any healing, but simply accelerated his body's ability to do so. The wounds closed as they would naturally, a brief 'tightness' felt over each one as scabs, then scars, took hold over the wounds. The only one that seemed 'perfect' at the end was the small cut at his cheek.
It would take a few minutes, but the General would soon find himself functionally repaired. He briefly looked down, testing his arm by balling his hand into a fist, relaxing it shortly after.
"Not like I expected to be anywhere else overnight. Still, this ought to do." He gave a nod, idly resting his back against the headboard of the bed. "Thanks, Jegan."

"You're welcome General. You should however eat. I believe we have roast cooking in the crockpot in the kitchen that should be ready. I shall fetch you some." The Little Medicmon chirped before sidling out of the room carefully closing the door behind him lest someone get a glimpse of his employer.
"He's a good merc." Cassandra murmured turning to dig through the closet for the cots she knew would be there. They were old and not the comfiest, but they would do for the night as she carefully set them up. Throwing the extra blankets and pillows onto them for her and Angel.
"Gazi should have a shipment rolling out in the morning most likely. We'll hitch a ride with them to Tenebrous. From there it'll be far easier to act without drawing fire." The Doctor mused settling down on the cot as the door was pushed open once more. Jegan returning with two steaming bowls of stew with roast potatoes and vegetables. Pressing one of them into Cassandra's hands as she sighed.
"Thank you Jegan." She murmured knowing it would worry him more if she didn't eat. "Could you bring me the bottle of iron pills when you get a chance?" Cas requested as the Medicmon cast her an odd glance, but nodded his assent all the same.
"Of course Ma'am." He spoke deciding to restrain his curiosity for now.

The General simply returned a nod towards Jegan, settling in atop the bed as Cassandra dragged out the cots. It was convenient enough that they had the upstairs to themselves, able to talk freely without worrying about anyone from downstairs intruding in on them.
"Tenebrous... Underground Terminus." It took him a moment, but he nodded as he connected the dots. "I never had the chance to get too much intel on that place, as it is." Ah, there was the stew: taking a bowl in hand, he returned a small thanks to the Medicmon, who hadn't come up along. Angel followed right behind him, stretching out her arms in a tired yawn.
"Its nonstop noise down there, I swear. I thought a group of 'runners' would've been more quiet than that." The Renamon gave her brief rant, before settling on the cot that Cassandra laid out for her. "Finally, something more stable than that freaking hammock..."
"Well, you're getting wordy, again." Denryu gave a short smile, Angel returning a sharp sigh. "Tch..."

"Tenebrous is a recently founded city in the Terminus Underground yes. It's not much yet, but with time..." Cassandra trailed off a soft smile curving at the edges of her lips as Jegan returned passing over the bottle of pills as Cas took five of them and began carefully picking over her roast. Eating what she could.
"It'll quiet down as evening comes Angel. At least we're not in the barracks." The Doctor murmured hoping to brighten the Renamon's mood a little bit though admittedly their current situation was bleak. At least they were all alive.
"Either way I have contacts in Tenebrous that may be able to help us locate the rest of the members of our team." Cassandra explained glancing towards the General only pausing to set her food aside and rise moving to carefully unhook him from and remove the IV passing it to Jegan to dispose of.

Cassandra seemed quite invested in the fate of Tenebrous - or, at the very least, Denryu had learned very well what that smile meant when it appeared on Cassandra's lips. She was plotting something, not necessarily nefarious, and she would see it through to the end.
Well, that was something to look forward to. For now, Denryu started on his portion of roast. Whoever they had down there working the oven seemed to have a good-enough handle on it, the General able to eat his fill without complaint. Angel already had her fill downstairs, and for now, was simply trying to get comfortable on that cot. "Oh, just ignore what I'm saying, really." The fox sighed. "I know you mean well; venting's just how I'm coping with all this." That self-aware banter aside, the Renamon turned, and nestled deep into that pillow.
With the EV pulled out, Denryu gave a short nod. "Technically speaking, I can still track them with my Xros Loader. Suffice to say, Angel does much better with Blade at her side than without - and honestly, her personality can get a bit overwhelming without Demon there to shut down her snark."
"I heard that."
"I know."

"It's fine Angel. I just have a hard time telling sometimes is all. I know our situation is hardly raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens." The Doctor joked with a sigh as she settled back down on her own cot and picked at her food. It was good. Someone clearly had paid attention when she showed Gazi's group the ropes or maybe Jegan had taken to cooking in his spare time.
"I miss Demon," The Doctor admitted, the Devidramon having been perhaps the one she was closest to on Denryu's team other then maybe Dreadnought and... "and Phantom. He was a good lab partner." Cassandra spoke voice soft and mournful as she set her food aside after a few more attempts to finish it.
"They must have gotten ahold of the coordinate and portal'ed in to have caught you unaware otherwise the alarms would have tripped." Cas mused her brow furrowed in thought leaving her unsure if it had been pure luck or a greater plan that she had not been at the base when it had happened.

"Don't get me started on cats. They're either demonic doctors, laser hellspawn, or hogging the bread sticks." Angel gave a sigh, referring to Mikemon, Hunter, and Syre, respectively. By itself, that would have sufficed as a decent enough joke... but as Cassandra mentioned Demon, and then Phantom, the fox couldn't help but shudder.
"... Pick at that scab more, why don't you." Facing away from Cassandra, Angel brought a hand up to her own face, clenching her teeth as she felt her eyes start to water up. Did it even matter how they were found? Its not like it mattered to them, now!
"Emma said something about going back through our security log. She'll get in touch with us if she manages to dig anything up." Ugh, that whole thing was a mess. Setting the plate aside, he'd take a seat back in that bed, finally starting to feel that fatigue set in.

"It matters because I don't want it to happen again." Cas spoke up resisting the urge to snap, but her tone was rough all the same as she abandoned any pretext of eating setting her bowl aside for Jegan to collect later as she too sagged down onto the cot. The long hours and stress finally getting to her.
"Luminas has their hands full with dealing with the travesty in the Eastern Timberlands right now, but they won't stay busy forever. Sooner or later they'll want to draw attention away from their failures and what better way to do so then capturing the dangerous criminals that had kept their attention from the threat in the Timberlands in the first place." The Doctor explained pulling the covers over herself as she settled in only waiting a moment before reaching up to switch off the light. Leaving the only illumination in the room the sliver of light from the bathroom and her own glowing crimson eyes. Of which she swiftly covered by reactivating her holosuit. Not trusting someone to stumble unto her during her most vulnerable.
"We've made a mockery of them whether intentional or not. If they come for us I don't want them to be able to use the same trick twice." Cassandra murmured before closing her eyes and dragging the covers over her head. Morning would dawn bright and early and with there would be much to do.

"Possible... but I can only hope cooler heads emerge from Luminas." Denryu gave a sigh, shaking his head. With the lights turned off, it didn't take long for the General to pull the covers over himself, lying on his undamaged side as he tried to slip off to sleep.
Angel herself didn't add any remark to Cassandra's comment, more for the fact that she didn't want to start a fight rather than her agreement to Cassandra's comment. Besides, at this point, the less she thought of it, the better.
Tomorrow was definitely going to be an early morning - and over the next twenty minutes, the sound and ruckus downstairs began to subside. Denryu managed to sleep rather quietly, but Angel? It didn't take long for her to start turning in her sleep, eventually rolling off that cot in a bundle of sheets.

The Doctor slept. She did not sleep soundly, but she slept all the same in small snatches and bursts rousing with each rustle and turn from Angel before determining it was just the restless Digimon before she would return to her rest. At least until the Renamon finally hit the floor in a muffle thump of sheets. Causing the Doctor to let out a soft sigh as she dragged one of her unneeded blankets from her cot and stood. Picking her way across the worn wooden floor she paused before carefully settling the soft fabric over Angel's form.
She doubted in her state of exhaustion she could lift the Renamon, but she could at least make Angel more comfortable and nabbing the pillow from the now abandoned cot she gently slide it under the Digimon's head. Task completed she returned to her own cot to settle down for a hopefully more peaceful sleep.
Peaceful of course was relative as the Doctor awoke wrenched from her sleep drenched in a cold sweat and shivering come the first light of morning. The shifting red of an endless sea of blood still imprinted upon the back of her eyelids.

Morning came all too soon for one potentially irate fox. At the bright and early time of 5:45 in the morning, Angel simply decided that she had enough of it, and freeing herself from her sheets, the fox simply stood up, sat down on her cot, and rested her palm against her forehead.
"Ugh..." So as to not disturb the rest of them - more than she did across the night, anyway - the fox simply crawled back up to the cot, lied on her side, and waited. Next was Denryu: trained with strict scheduling already, it didn't take much effort for him to peel out of bed at six in the morning. Idly testing his still-sore arm, he cast a simple glance in Cassandra's direction. Tch, rough night for her?
"Ugh... morning, sir." The fox finally sat up, rubbing the back of her glove against her eyes. "We didn't get a schedule or anything, but-"
"Angel, just get the coffee and tea going." Er, right - the fox dragged herself up, moving towards the kitchen, before Denryu looked over towards the tired Cassandra. "Guess I shouldn't be surprised, at this rate. You need anything?"

Becoming aware of her surroundings Cassandra let herself flop back onto the cot, throwing one arm over her eyes as she fought to catch her breath. Silently urging her heart to slow it's frantic beating even as the General sent Angel slinking from the room leaving them alone. His concern though was touching causing her heart to flutter into her throat in a swell of feeling the Doctor swiftly beat back with a vengeance to perturbed to analyze them in that moment.
"Brain bleach, a bloody mary, and for whoever thought the D-reaper was a good idea when crafting the digital world to be fired..." Cassandra grumbled out with a salty sigh.
"But I'll settle for a cup of black tea and being told I only look a little like death warmed over." She added after a pregnant pause before rolling onto her side to glance over at the General.
"How are you feeling?" Cas questioned softly as she propped her chin upon her arm and wondered if beneath her holosuit her hair was just as chaotic of a bed-head as the General's.
