Whew, Colin was glad that day of school was over. Mainly because it involved gym and, even though he wasn't too impartial to physical activity, it sure drained him more than other classes. Luke and Bellamy were somewhat less well off though. As spellcaster digimon, they were never really physically strong, and while Bellamy was quick and Luke was hardy, them having to be as good as humans in sport sure made them tired.
Still though, all three looked forward to today. Why? Well, today was the day they'd be formally inducted as AEGIS agents. Furthermore, Tadayoshi would be as well. And Colin hoped that he could get a good word in about Johan too. They were short on agents after all, and three in the same class at high school could be a good enough boon for the organization.
The three of them had changed out of their school uniforms for now, wearing more formal-casual clothes of button-up shirts and dark blue work slacks. This was their first day after all, it'd be a bit sloppy if they turned up in t-shirts and jeans. Of course, Luke and Bellamy both had their holosuits active, taking on the appearance of red and purple-haired boys around Colin's age.
"So... assumin' we get in, there'll be Sophie, Satoshi, Yaku, Colin, Tadayoshi and Johan as agents" Bellamy remarked to Luke. "And us digimon too of course, although does Yaku have a digimon?"
"Sophie didn't say" Luke answered, the three of them arriving at the entrance of the Shibuya train station. It was currently 3:58pm, so hopefully the others would show up soon. He had mentioned to Tadayoshi in Japanese Language class that they'd be meeting up here at around 4. It wasn't too busy here currently, there was still a lot of pedestrians of course, but the evening peak hadn't quite arrived yet.

"Finally the day is over," Johan yawned while stretching as he walked out of his afternoon class at the end of the day. He had been working hard all day, paying attention to the teacher and keeping up on top of his homework and studies. Today he was especially antsy for one particular reason: today he was going to become an AEGIS agent.
"Do you remember where you are supposed to meet Colin, Johan?" Dokamon asked from Johan's D-3 like a nosy parent.
"Of course I do, Dokamon," Johan chuckled as he rolled his eyes. "We're supposed to meet him at Shibuya Station. I wonder if we have time to change... nah, it's already late and my clothes are back at the dorm. Come on, let's get going!"
Some time later, Johan had arrived at the Shibuya Station only about a minute late. Panting from the running he did just to catch the train on time, Johan looked around for the group. And just like that he spotted them; it was hard to not spot a red head and a purple head, which he remembered were Luke and Bellamy. "I'm here!" Johan said, waving as he headed up towards Twin Tamer. "Good to see you. How did yesterday turn out?"

Unfortunately, Tadayoshi kept the group waiting long past the meeting time. It was almost 5 by the time he ran to join the rest of the group, panting from, well, having been running. "Hey! Hi, I am very, very sorry for being late," he apologized with a long, deep bow. "I originally went straight home after school just to ask Father permission to leave, but he didn't want me staying out, and he kept an eye on me to make sure I couldn't sneak out. I couldn't leave until I'd finished all my homework and some extra studying. I sincerely apologize for making you wait." Only when he finished did he finally rise.
The boy was in no attire to be running. Heck, he was still in brown dress shoes and khakis with a nice white collared shirt to boot. At least it was apparent he had his Loader in his back pocket, which he promptly covered up with the untucked shirt (the one informal thing about his appearance) once he rose out of the bow.

They saw Johan arrive on time, waving to him to indicate where they were. "Heya. Eh, nothin' to write home about" Bellamy shrugged at the subject of yesterday's classes.
Colin had to admit, waiting an extra hour for Tadayoshi was a bit of a big thing to ask for. His anxiety increased, to the point at 4:15 where he pulled out his D-Terminal and sent a message to Sophie saying that Tadayoshi might have some problems arriving on time. She replied that it was fine.
Colin then had a late afternoon snack which he shared with the others, buying from the station cafeteria. Finally when Tadayoshi did arrive, he at least had a good excuse, that his father wouldn't let him come earlier.
"Okay. Guess that's fine" Colin answered. "So then, let's head over now".
With that, Colin led the group across the road when it was safe to do so, and from there, tried to subtly enter the alleyway at the side of their headquarters. There was little here but a locked door and intercom. Colin pressed it and spoke. "Sophie, it's Colin here, I'm here with Tadayoshi and Johan" he said.
"Alright, come on up" Sophie's voice answered, the door unlocking remotely. They entered and climbed up the nondescript stairs to the small reception. There they saw a small woman that Colin hadn't met before sitting at the desk.
"Sophie said to let you all through" she said, and indicated the door to pass through. Colin supposed that was something like a clandestine checkpoint system that his sister had prepared.
Once they were inside, they would find themselves in what looked like a fairly ordinary office work area, with a large amount of computers, office equipment and various employees walking around. Sophie herself greeted them with a wave, sitting at her desk at the head of the room.
"Hello there" she said, standing up, dressed in her usual grey uniform with blue trimmings. Lantis was standing at her side, leaning against the wall, the Leomon without his holosuit active. "Ah, you can power down your holosuits in here, it's safe for digimon" she said. "All the staff here know about digimon, and it's in their contracts to keep that to themselves".
Relieved at that, Luke and Bellamy returned to their digimon forms.
"Sorry we're late, sis" Colin began, but Sophie waved a hand dismissively.
"It's fine, main thing is that you called" she said. She then looked at the other two. Tadayoshi, she had already met. But Johan, she hadn't. Colin had only told her about him this morning before school, and she agreed to at least meet him. Whether he was up for being an agent however, she'd figure that out in time.
"So then, you probably have some questions" Sophie offered to Johan. "Now would probably be the best time to answer them, so, ask away. If not, we can proceed to the induction". She honestly did hope that he did have questions, it'd be odd to accept someone she didn't know. While Colin did vouch for him, she couldn't really just accept anyone right away.

Holy crap, what was taking Tadayoshi so long?! Johan and Dokamon arrived on time, so where was he?! About fifteen minutes after Johan arrived, he noticed Colin taking out his D-Terminal to message someone, most likely the AEGIS HQ to let them know that they'd be late.
"If we're going to be waiting a while, we might as well have a snack," Johan reasoned as Colin came back with snacks from the station's cafeteria. "Do you want some, Dokamon?"
"I'll pass for now," Dokamon politely refused. While he was in the mood for a snack, he didn't want to risk his identity being exposed in an area as crowded as Shibuya Station, no matter how sneakily Johan might do it.
About an hour later, even Dokamon was getting agitated about waiting for the Xros General. "Okay, I've had it. Where is Tadayoshi?" And right as he said that, the man of the hour showed up. When he arrived Tadayoshi explained how his father wouldn't let him leave early, and that's why he was so late. Johan understood perfectly, but Dokamon was still a bit salty about having to sit in a cramped V-Pet for an extra hour longer than he preferred to.
Now that everyone was here, Johan obeyed Colin and followed the group across the street into... an alleyway? Johan assumed they use some kind of camouflage since they were a Digimon organization. He just let it flow and accepted what came his way with mild amusement and curiosity. After a bit more walking, the group found themselves in some kind of work area, surrounded by a BUNCH of computers. For a small bit Johan wasn't even listening and just stared at the information displayed on the computers with high interest.
"AHEM," Dokamon loudly coughed, causing Johan to snap out of it and start paying attention again. The fifteen year old scratched his head in embarrassment as he let Dokamon out of the V-Pet. The blue robotic Digimon stretched, finally glad to be free from the horrors of confinement. "Hello again. I've been in that V-Pet all day, so it is nice to get some air."
The female agent - Sophie - took the time to greet Johan and asked if they had any questions. "Not many that I can think of currently, if I'm being honest. But tell me WHERE you got your tech?! It's unlike anything I've ever seen, and-" Johan continued going on and on and on about the computers and the technology, causing Dokamon to sweatdrop.
"He gets excited about technology... he has good skills as a hacker because of it, however."

First the incident with Satoshi and now this! I can't believe Ms. James didn't just ask Colin to send me home, Tadayoshi anxiously ruminated as he stepped inside the restricted area. The first order of business was to permit his forces, "Silence, deploy," and hold his Loader toward a sizeable empty space so that the MetalKoromon Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Gulf, and Hotel; the Missimon Bonnie, Connie, Tawny, Lonnie, Ronnie, and Sid; Hagurumon, Renamon, and finally Commandramon could all neatly line up. The smaller digimon arranged themselves in perfect three-by-three and four-by-two lines, and the others stood fairly stiffly themselves with the armed lizard in front of them all before Yoshi gave them the, "At ease," which was when the perfect formation became more relaxed standing around.
"Ma'am, sir" was how Commandramon greeted Sophie and Lantis, complimented with a polite inclination of his head at each.
"We're late because of me, Ma'am. I accept that responsibility. If I may ask my own question, I was thinking that the nature of a General is that our bond with digimon isn't as preordained and unbreakable like most others, and our numbers aren't as stable. I wanted to ask what the protocol is if any more digimon should join with us, whether they'll go through the same process as the rest of us." As impressive as the place was, it wasn't new to Tadayoshi anymore and didn't keep that shock value.

Sophie gave a neutral expression at Johan for the moment. "It was sourced from a variety of places" she said. "Funding is no matter here. As for the technology, we've managed to create hybrids of technology from here and Terminus City".
That he apparently was good with computers made Sophie intrigued. Perhaps she could get him to work with Satoshi at some point to see how good he really was? But for now, she trusted her brother's judgement that it was fine for him and his partner to be here.
Next, Sophie would once again see Tadayoshi's forces. "Hello everyone, good to see you again" she said, remembering their last time together when apprehending Karatenmon's gang.
"Indeed it is" Lantis concurred, bowing his head in respect to the team that was named Silence.
Colin and his partners meanwhile gasped at the sheer amount of digimon that Tadayoshi had in his Xros loader. They knew of the Missimon, and they had seen the others on the screen, however, seeing them all in the same realm as their own, well, that was a new thing altogether.
Sophie accepted Tadayoshi's explanation. With partners of digimon often being young, it was a given that they wouldn't be available at quick notice without personal problems arising, so with that, she was patient. However, the young man did raise a good point that was unique to his method of attaining power. While most others would usually encounter their one true partner and that would be the end of it, like herself and her brother; Tadayoshi's army was always expanding. And with every new recruitment raised the possibility of one of them being a malignant spy.
"I think... the safest option would be to induct every new digimon that joins your army separately, Tadayoshi" Sophie answered. "With you now about to join AEGIS, there may be a risk of digimon that wish to see us harmed internally to attempt to infiltrate via your Xros Loader. While I trust your personal integrity enough so that every digimon currently with you should be fine, any future ones, we would like to ensure we can trust them. I hope you understand".
With that said, Sophie would look between the three new young agents-to-be and their partners. "Well then. If that's all, I'll begin with the induction" she said, waiting for their responses before proceeding. She would lead them out of her office desk area toward stairs that led upwards.

The young teenager was amazed with Sophie's answer. "A combination of real world tech and the vast amount of Terminus tech?! That could create so many possibilities that just is not possible with real world tech alone! This is incredible; I have to research it!"
"Calm down, Johan, we still have the entirety of AEGIS to discover."
"Right... sorry, Dokamon."
Johan gulped at the sheer amount of Digimon that Tadayoshi had to offer. It was a LOT more than he initially anticipated. He knew that Xros Generals generally had loads of Digimon in their army, but this was just too much. And the thought of him potentially getting MORE Digimon than that kinda frightened him.
Dokamon didn't give the amount of Digimon a second thought, as he casually walked up to Commandramon and extended a hand out. "It is a pleasure to see you in person, Commandramon," Dokamon said to the gun-wielding Digimon. He may not have been a fan of Tadayoshi, but he did seem to take a liking towards his lead Digimon.
After she warned Tadayoshi about future Digimon he may get, Sophie directed everyone to proceed with the induction as she went upstairs. Johan and Dokamon simply followed her, the former anxious to see what will come next.

Sophie's answer to the General's question was about what Tadayoshi had expected and, in fact, hoped for. It would have been ludicrous for such an organization essential for public safety to just trust the opinion of its now second-newest recruit. Maybe bolstering Silence's numbers would be a bit more tedious because of that policy, but it was for a greater good. "I understand. I have someone to talk to you about later, then." Yoshi made no outward sign he was concerned about others' reactions to his massive army, but the truth was he enjoyed the attention. He loved the idea of being uniquely special even among the uniquely special.
In the background, Dokamon had apparently correctly identified Tadayoshi's primary partner, though given that he was the one standing in front of the rest it wasn't much of a stretch. When offered the handshake, Commandramon used the hand that was not on his gun's handle to return it so that he was still handling his weapon carefully. He didn't say anything because this was a time to be listening, but he did make polite eye contact and give Dokamon an incline of the head and slow blink. That was all there was time for before Tadayoshi agreed to proceed, "No more questions."
Tadayoshi tried to follow closest, Commandramon at his side. Renamon and Hagurumon were just behind them. The MetalKoromon didn't have any need to climb stairs, as they were able to just levitate a few inches above them perfectly equidistant from each other, though the cluster did have to rotate 90 degrees to align with when a stair went directly upward. Along the way they beeped and booped, their way of chattering excitedly.

Luke could relate to Johan's enthusiasm. As something of a tinker, or more accurately an engineer, the Elecmon greatly looked forward to all the possibilities ahead here. Humans had managed to make some truly magnificent creations over the years, but that was with only the resources of Earth. But resources of both Earth and the digital world? As a digimon he was delighted to be a part of this.
Bellamy meanwhile was more interested in what kind of cool gadgetry they'd get access to. Colin had expected something like this, but, seeing what his sister had been setting up here, this was incredible. He knew his grandmother's influence and wealth was instrumental here, but, all this... just across the road from Shibuya station. Amazing stuff.
"Alright, we can talk about that later" Sophie answered Tadayoshi. With that, she led them toward the stairs to the Operations floor.
"The AEGIS HQ has 4 floors in total" Lantis explained to the group. "The Ground Floor is simply the entrance, hidden to the side. Below us we've rented out shops to trusted business owners. To both cover our location and help a little with funds. After all, when you're walking through a shopping mall, you don't really know or care about what's in the floors above the shops, right?"
"Huh... guess I don't really" Colin remarked.
"The first floor is simply the office space" Lantis continued. "There we have personnel constantly monitoring TV, Radio and internet news for any strange occurrences that may be linked to digimon. If they do, it's immediately investigated. There's also the reception desk, so if any strangers manage to stumble in on us, we can simply say that we're a media company to any strangers that aren't here on digimon business, or if anyone hostile tries to intrude. If they do, access to the next floors is locked down and hidden, with modified holosuit technology courtesy of Satoshi".
"Was gonna say, felt pretty Aggretsuko down there" Bellamy quipped. They then walked up the stairs and emerged into a much more futuristic setting. Bellamy gave a whistle, impressed, while Colin and Luke stared around in amazement.
"This is the Operations floor" Sophie said to them. "Here we've got the big machines. We've managed to create an amplified digimon radar that's able to home in on any digimon that's Champion level or greater in Shibuya. It doesn't work on Rookies or lower, mainly because of all the interference, but, anything that level or higher, we'll likely know about them. Unless they're shielded of course".
She pointed in the direction of a map of Shibuya. There were a few dots, but all of them were colored blue, with the words "Known Entity" written above them. There was one on the current building, which simply read "Lantis", as he was currently the only champion level among them.
"Also on this floor is the Home Portal receiver" Sophie said, indicating what appeared to be an empty circular room lined with panels of some kind. "If you're ever in trouble, you'll have programs installed on your digivices that will return you and your teams back to that room. That should be more convenient than having to go through the station".
They were then approached by another digimon. This one was a Gaomon, only his fur was black where it would have normally been blue. He blinked at them, then recognized one of them.
"Oh, hey, Tadayoshi, nice to see you again" he said. Sophie and Lantis turned, then the leader smiled.
"Everyone, this is Enkidu. He's also an agent that works for us" she said. "Although, be careful about talking about him outside this room, he usually works undercover in the digital world for us". Saying that, Sophie introduced him to the rest of them. "Enkidu, this is my brother Colin, his partners Luke and Bellamy; you've met Tadayoshi and his team, and this is Johan and Dokamon, new recruit agents".
The BlackGaomon gave a kind of streetwise wave with his gloved paw that made Bellamy smirk a little. "Heh, Terminus boy are ya?" he asked, making a similar gesture as he remembered it. Enkidu gave a 'heh' back, then blinked, tilting his head.
"Have we met?" he asked, not remembering seeing a furred Impmon on his travels.
"I... don't think so?" Bellamy replied, a little awkwardly. Man. He hoped that his old identity as "Impy" hadn't crossed this guy, that would be awkward.

Even though Johan just wanted to geek out about the possible advancements in technology, he complied and just followed the others upstairs to continue the tour. The Leomon Lantis explained that there were four floors in AEGIS HQ, with the floor they were just on being nothing more than an office, and he also explained the security protocol if a stranger happened to enter the building.
Hm, like an emergency security protocol... I wonder if I would be able to bust it open, Johan thought after Lantis explained this. Best not to try, I don't want to sour my relationship with my fellow agents too early.
"Very interesting set up, it seems. Makes hiding in plain sight far too easy." Dokamon was indeed impressed with AEGIS at this point.
After that they were now on what Sophie called the operations floor, which had machines that did things from track Champion-level and higher Digimon in Shibuya and something called the Home Portal receiver, which Johan assumed would have him be teleported right to it. It was then that another Digimon approached the group, it was a Gaomon like Owen but... different.
"How odd... it's definitely a Gaomon, but its fur is black," Johan commented out loud. "Same species, but in a different color. I wonder if there are other species of Digimon who follow this formula." As Johan was examining Enkidu, he noticed something in the corner of his eye. Someone had dropped a plastic fork on the ground. "Okay, how about we go to the next floor now, hm?"
Oh god, if Dokamon saw that fork it would be disasterous...

All of Silence were good listeners along their tour. Part of the reason was that some of the usual questions had been answered over the course of the few days between recruitment and this moment, and part of it was just that Tadayoshi knew he was a subordinate in this situation while the rest of Silence recognized that, by extension, so were they. The whole group followed along obediently and silently, clearly taking in information even if they weren't making a conscious effort to show it.
The idea of an emergency escape destination was a very interesting piece, though.
So threats starting as rookie and below could go completely undetected. Tadayoshi, ever the strategist, understood both this an all its implications. That means to go free from the digital world, you just have to be a rookie that doesn't show a threat or discovery risk. Then you get nice and deep into the city, digivolve higher, and you've got whatever our response time is to do whatever you want. For a digimon, that's still too long. He also considered, Additionally, if we ever needed to, my team might pass under the radar barring visual surveillance. A fusion would no doubt get us detected, though, just to have all the angles. Silence would have to discuss this at a later time, away from AEGIS. They certainly couldn't discuss it in front of the agent recruited specifically for being a listener and a CI. "Enkidu!" Tadayoshi greeted the BlackGaomon with a wide smile and hearty enthusiasm. This was a digimon that he had met under stressful circumstances: Tadayoshi doubted a criminal's change of heart for humanity's sake, and Enkidu in turn doubted whether he was doing the right thing. After saving Shibuya massive damage, though, Tadayoshi admired the digimon who sacrificed his loved ones for the sake of goodness. "You're a full-fledged agent now? I'm glad you're here."

Lantis gave a small 'heh' at Dokamon's statement. "Indeed, I'm surprised we managed to do this" he admitted. "That we managed to secure ourselves a building in the heart of Shibuya, directly facing the train station, the main route between the digital world and back. We have Sophie and Colin's grandma to thank for that entirely".
"Grandma made all this happen?" Colin asked with bewilderment, looking around in wonder. "But... I never knew she was this rich, how...?"
"True, she isn't rich, Colin, but, her family has influence, and she used that to send all this funding to AEGIS" Sophie explained. "I don't know the full story myself, just that when I proposed AEGIS to her, she told me that in Japan, family means more than it does in other places, and then the funding from various Tokyo businesses came flowing in from people who didn't want their businesses destroyed by mysterious circumstances. So that's where our funding comes from. We're employed by the people of Tokyo to provide them security from rogue digimon, and so that's our job here".
That was where it ended. They did not have authority or funding from the Japanese Government, they were not above the law in the courts, they were simply security guards, protecting the city from rogue digimon before they became a problem. Had DATS been active at the time they would have been laughed off, but, since the old DATS had disappeared, they were not laughed off in this case.
Then they reached the Operations floor. Enkidu scowled a little at Johan's statement. "I may not be entirely familiar with how language is on Earth, but I would prefer you say "he" when talking about me than "it", thanks" he said, preferring to be talked about by a human like a living thing than a piece of furniture. Even though digimon had no sexes like humans did, he was by now familiar with how humans talked. With living things they would say "he" or "she", and non-living things they would resort to "it". And Enkidu identified as male, so he would prefer to be referred to as that.
Meanwhile Bellamy noticed the fork on the floor, walking over to it. "Yeesh, guess someone didn't pick up after themselves for lunch" he muttered, picking it up. Giving a grin, knowing the humor of Colin's father, who was a huge Star Wars fan, he waved it around in front of his brother. "Behold the power of the forks, Luke..."
"Bells, stop that" Luke said, trying to sound serious but couldn't help but giggle. "Just throw it in the bin already".
Enkidu meanwhile turned to notice Tadayoshi, recognizing him and his team. "Ah, hey there!" he said, smiling at them. "It's great to see you guys again! And you're officially with us too, heh, welcome aboard!"
Thus far it was clear that Enkidu had done enough to convince all present that he was a safe digimon. The BlackGaomon even had a small AEGIS badge sewn into the bandana he wore on his forehead. While Colin was a little unsure, he was fairly certain that if his intentions went against the rest of the organization it would be rooted out pretty quickly.
"Nice to meet you, Enkidu" Colin said, smiling. With that, he turned to Sophie. "So, what's up on the top floor, sis?"
"Let's find out shall we?" Sophie asked. If there was no further events, she would lead them upward. If not, they'd talk for a little more.

Johan's eyes widened when Enkidu pointed out that he was calling the BlackGaomon "it" and asked the human to not call him that. He was so intrigued by Enkidu's species that he didn't even realize what he was doing. "Oops... I'm terribly sorry about that," Johan apologized as he sweatdropped. "I didn't even realize what I was saying. My name's Johan, by the way. It's very nice to meet you."
Little did Bellamy know, he had just unintentionally set off a bomb when he picked that fork up. Dokamon noticed him playing around with something, and then saw that very something he was playing with. Swiftly, Dokamon yelped and ran right behind Johan's legs, peaking out from behind them with absolute fear. Seeing Dokamon like this was a very rare sight, and right now the others were probably super confused by what he was doing. Johan just decided to tell everyone the reason.
"You might want to throw that away right now. See... Dokamon's afraid of forks and silverware. It's the one thing that absolutely terrifies him. Back in America, I was introducing Dokamon to my folks. My little sister screamed and threw a fork right at him, which sadly stabbed him right into the eye."
"The pain... oh god, the pain..."
"Yeah, it was the first time he really ever felt pain like that. So... don't tease him too much, okay?"
"Johan!"

These were Tadayoshi's coworkers? Well, they weren't very considerate, were they? Johan had gone and insulted a fellow agent on day 1. Bellamy was fooling around like a child while his superior was graciously guiding the initiates around their new headquarters. But worst of all? Dokamon. That little guy had Tadayoshi's respect for a while, but he flipped a switch from being the disciplined one to a wimp when confronted by a little cutlery. That, Tadayoshi was unable to let slide.
However, he was beat to the punch. "The kitten isn't an aspiring field agent, I hope," she said to nobody in particular but with a volume that suggested she didn't care who heard her. She then proceeded to try and rip the fork straight out of Bellamy's hand, unwilling to let these hijinx continue any longer. If she got it, then she was also able to use her supreme vulpine skill to flick it all the way across the room and straight into a waste basket without even touching its rim. "May we move on now?"
Tadayoshi silently agreed, but out of curiosity he looked over at his other digimon for their reactions. Predictably, the Missimon were all snickering at each other and hiding it poorly. The MetalKoromon made no obvious reaction since they couldn't make facial expressions at all, but the screen of the Xros Loader then read, A-H: RESPONSE TO STIMULUS: AMUSEMENT which was the closest think to a laugh they could really give. Tadayoshi couldn't resist leaning down and sharing that message with Commandramon, and even the no-nonsense captain couldn't stop one corner of his lips from curling upward.
Tadayoshi tried not to look too entertained as he seconded, "Yes, Ma'am, I agree with the Spymaster."
