It was a beautifully metallic day in Warmbreeze city. Well, to be fair, it could be night, it was hard to tell with a ceiling of copper and gold serving as the "sky" for the city. The actual sky was many more feet up, above the actual surface and right into space. Those that still liked breathing (and warmth, for that matter), were bound to remain within the confines of the city, where every inch that wasn't stone was a metal of some kind. Being able to see things in such an environment was a small miracle on it's own, credited to however had the idea to make every edge of every building, road and those rail-like infractures that went sometimes on ground and sometimes above even the buildings themselves (and/or through them) be covered in a sort of neon-light layer. The sheer amount of it was enough to light up the city like daylight, if a bit harder on the eyes for those who weren't used to it. Much the way, for instance, that Yume's eyes weren't.
Indeed the girl was practically being dragged through the streets by what appeared to be a pile of cardboard boxes, but in actuality was one of her digimon partners, Toy. People made way for the girl covering her own eyes with her free arm (and desperately wishing she had remained in her pajamas, those oversized sleeves would have been perfect to cover her vision), the still-sleeping pillomon under her arm, and the oddly intimidating rookie who pulled the human girl's other arm along. People would hurry inside the stores and pull their children away, some would attempt to simply walk around them while others stared with worry. Only the meramons who kept the furnaces that supplied heat to the city remained in their posts, plus a couple of interruptions on account of law enforcement wondering if this was a kidnapping attempt.
"You eerie eye is.... acting up more than usual." Yume noted at last, half-joking. Toy was NOT happy those were the first words to come out of her mouth that morning aside from her insistence on staying in bed, staying in her pajamas, and going slowly.
"That's because a certain someone is barely walking on her own, and she's getting late for her date!"
"That's just because I...." Yume's blinks started getting a little farther between, specifically in the "opening the eyes again" part. Toy gestured at Cloud, who gave Yume a soft kick, like getting pushed in the abdomen by a stuffed animal. It was just discomfortable enough to bring Yume back to reality. "Eh, what was I?"
"Look, you may not know the guy, but said you'd like to try going on a date with him after you got that letter. So no excuses. You either walk up to him and say you are not interested, or you give him a real chance. OUTSIDE of dreamland." There was something about his stern tone that made Yume look away a little bit and nod. It made her feel like a child getting scolded, a feeling only intensified as she slowly gained awareness that she wasn't in her usual clothes.
Toy himself was rather proud of his work and choices. If Yume had her way, she'd still be wearing cloud-pattern pajamas, but with his help, she was instead a comfy linen shirt, covered with an even comfier white woolen, hand-knitted vest with paired up little balls of cotton forming a line vertically across the middle. A blue long squirt at least managed to hide the fact she was still wearing socks and tennis shoes (the only ones she ever bought aside from slippers and the sandals Toy had failed to make her wear). Yume's face had mostly been kept unarranged save for a tiny bit of make up she barely put herself. She got to keep her typical unkept twintail hairstyle too, as Toy thought it best she show a more real side of her at least as far her face was concerned. The final touch was the small purse bag hanging by the waist and strapped around her shoulder.
Hmmm...now that he thought about it, she might get a little cold like this. Maybe they should've brought a jacket too? Well, Yume was already late, they would just have to hope her date would be enough of a gentleman to attend to the matter of her being cold should the need arise. Toy sighed, and slipped Cloud out of from beneath Yume's arm.
"Alright, Yume. Now listen up. Just around the corner is the guy. You saw the reactions everyone had to me, things will only get troublesome if me and Cloudy are around. So you go and have yourself a date, and we'll meet up again later, ok?" Toy didn't give her a chance to respond though, and instead pushed her around the corner. "Now go!"
It took Yume a moment to process quite what was happening, but there he stood: Leaning on a wall on the agreed upon location, with his blue eyes and brown hair. The self-description of the guy in her letter. He was covered in a dark-colored open jacket over a t-shirt and pants with a weird pattern on them completed with a pair of boots. He didn't seem to be about to loose his patience, but something hit Yume hard in the stomach about arriving late suddenly. She waved at him as she approached.
"Hey... I'm Yume. Sorry for being late. I hope I didn't make you wait too long. You're Kiyoshi, right?"
