The trail of Premonition [Yomi/Souji]

Yomi spent a day asleep.
Though the treatment and care given to her by Bella and other people in the camp certainly helped, the shock took a lot out of the girl. Or, perhaps, it was all the exhaustion brought up by more than a week of struggle, sleepless nights, and strife, piling up until eventually the girl collapsed from tiredness. It only needed one push, one that came in the form of having her hopes and dreams smashed in favor of... something else. Perhaps, a part of her did not want to wake up.
The dreams she saw were vivid, and most of them were about home. Repetitive in nature, just like her days. Going to school, spending time with friends, laughing or getting mad about Kaya's antics, or praising Chiko for being a good and diligent little student that she was... or marveling at where did Takeko-san got her hands cut again. The common myth was that she got into fights a lot, and nobody knew the true reasons, as ridiculous as they were.
But, from time to time, the dreamscape was being interrupted. The lush greenery of the Miyashita park becoming a desolate, barren wasteland. People and places dissolving into nothing. The solitude was heavy, crushing almost. Even asleep, Yomi would shiver, feeling terror creeping up her spine and sitting at the bottom of her throat like a knot. Making it harder and harder to breathe. She saw a serpentine trail, which sometimes became a real serpent, leading deeper and deeper into a place the girl had never seen before yet could recollect with an astounding amount of precision.
The snake had led her to a gaping maw of a cave, which was so dark inside one could not see anything. And from within, a loud, commanding voice echoed, as if ordering her in one strong, singular word.
COME!
It was getting louder and louder, until Yomi felt it bury into her mind, ringing in her ears. The slumber was, finally interrupted, with the girl jolting upwards, sitting in the cot with a loud, almost violent gasp.
"GAH! I WILL I WILL!" - the girl exclaimed, narrowing her eyes and blinking often, as the brisk awakening was soon followed by dizziness and sleepiness. Was she home? Was it all a bad dream? A dream where she got sucked into a phone and dumped into a dark and hostile land? But as her vision cleared out, she could see that she was not in her room. It was a dark, murky tent in a dark, murky land. As the girl's mind finally settled in, she found her broken glasses, placing them unto her nose again. A small, sad sigh escaping her chest.
"It's not a dream, is it... it never is..."
Unaware of a person sitting right to her side.

Its been a whole day since Katherine brought Yomi to the city and the whole portal incident happened, since then Yomi was unable to wake up even after all the attempts Isabella and Oneiros made in order to help her. After feeling a washing wave of guilt and sympathy for the girl, both Souji Himura and Isabella decided to fall back and stay by Yomi's side. And after a while the two began to switch shifts between who sits next to Yomi's bed and who goes to get food and other supplies and right now its was Isabella's turn to go get food for the three of them.
Souji sat on his chair arms crossed dozing off and trying his hardest to not fall asleep, its been a long day for him but he wanted to try his hardest today, because for the first time since he got to the digital world Souji would be the one who will help someone in need and not be the one to receive to help and he did not want to fail Yomi no matter what. But as the time Souji felt his eyelids getting heavier and heavier slowly the boy fell to the domain of dream, deep in sleep the boy's dream was about his parents it was bizarre and messy. But soon the boy was shot awake by Yomi's scream and for a moment he panicked but managed to quickly get his bearings together.
"Oh ms Yomi did you get a bad dream ?" Souji asked as he began to stretch his arms, he needed it because the chair was really really uncomfortable, but then he heard the next statement Yomi said. "Wait what do you mean by that ? Is something wrong ?" Souji asked as he was genuinely worried about the well being of the girl with broken glasses.

"Huh?"
Yomi looked at the boy and the digimon, dizzily. Her mind desperately trying to remember them. Their faces were familiar, and yet... She could not have known them for a very long while, It was hard to try and remember strangers while being half awake. Eventually, her mind offered an answer, and the girl repeated it, in a mumble. "Souji, and... fairymon?" - she rubbed her face,
"I ... remember something... You opened a portal, and... I walked in... I was supposed to go home. Why I'm... not there?"
Her voice trembled at that last line, and her eyes looked very moist, underneath the glasses. She shifted a bit in her seat, hanging her feet from the bunk, before shuddering, and wrapping arms around herself. The muscles felt so sore, as though she had been through several hours of heavy lifting. They refused to obey commands without resonating in dull aches. The pain that went all the way into her bones. Yomi shuddered, still not understanding what could have went wrong.
"Why am I not home, Souji?!" - her voice trembled even more as she let out a yell, before closing her mouth with both hands, a frightened look in her eyes. "I'm sorry..." - the girl ended in a whisper, pressing her palms to her eyes again, as if wanting to shield herself from the world outside. The glasses crackled a little bit, as she clenched them in her fists, not caring if the glass went into her hands.
"I... I saw a strange dream... There was this cave, and a voice... It pulled at me... It called to me... And then I woke up..."

Isabella just entered the room when Yomi woke up and woke Souji up with her, the girl seem to have noticed both Souji and Bella. But at that moment Isabella remembered something, she and Yomi never properly met, it was weird for Isabella to be called fairymon, she was not called that in forever. Isabella smiled and waved her hands in dismissive manner towards Yomi, she wanted to be her friend after all Isabella felt really bad for Yomi. "No no, that won't do pleasw call me Isabella. Nice to meet Yomi, I hope we become good friends, I brought you guys some snacks if you want to eat." Isabella said with a jolly smile, the fairy wanted to somehow find a way to help the poor girl.
Yomi then asked Souji about what happened, about why she is not home like he promised her she will be. And to that the boy replied "I...what happened was..." the boy hands was on his legs, as he couldn't bring himself to tell her that she can't go back home, not unless they can figure out who or what is stopping her from leaving, the boy just clenched his fists, unable to answer her. Isabella just frowned as she did not how to respond to that, she just watched as Yomi wrapped her hands around herself and let out a yell, Souji was even more frustrated in himself, the fairy however felt the urge to say something.
"Hey hey, dont be sorry, I can't say I have been in your shoes before, but I can understand your frustration and anger. But you gotta focus on your goal so you can do what you want and go back home, just gotta hold on a little longer. And the reason you are still here is because something is stopping you from leaving and we are gonna help you find that out and stop it." Isabella said as she handed the bag full of snacks to Yomi, a shiny smile on her face.
Souji then perked up when Yomi described her dream, he remembered what his spirit told him when he first met Yomi, couldn't be the same presence the spirit felt, be the same one who called for her? "Wait hold one just one second did you say a cave ? And what did this voice say."

Yomi rubbed her ears a little after the fairy lady blabbered through many things in less than 5 seconds. She talked really quick, in a quirky and slightly irritating manner. Though, the girl was not in a condition to judge things and people adequately right now. Her misguided adventure in this strange, dark, and forsaken land did not seem to want to let it go, and it was wearing down on her. She pulled down her glasses, fiddling with them in her hands, and narrowing her eyes a little as nearsightedness kicked in.
Souji did not have many answers, and the healing fairy was too cheerful for the situation.
Her mind returned to that strange dream.
"I... the voice did not say much. It just... demanded me to come. Somewhere. But I have no idea where it is... I've never been there before."
Suddenly, Yomi's eyes widened, as she recalled her talk with Kathy, by the campfire, the next day she had been rescued from that shoddy little motel she found shelter in, back in the Fragment Village. That the spirit, whatever it was, would try to communicate somehow. Either through words, or dreams. Hastily, Yomi found the device, which glared at her back with its googly-eyed buttons. As if she was hoping to get any clue from it. But alas, it was silent, and did not do much beyond what a normal device would do.
She looked back at Souji, frightened.
"It's the spirit, isn't it? Kathy said it would communicate with me, eventually. It ... does not want me to go home. Not until I find it."

Isabella was suprised to see that her cheery happy go lucky act did not get to Yomi, but if she stopped to think about perhaps that was not the best course of action, so she just backed and gave the girl some suffecient breathing room and choosing to focus on the more pressing matter, the origin of the voice in the dream. Both her and Souji had a pretty good idea who it belonged to, but the real mystery was the location shown in the dream. At that moment Souji decided to stop feeling hopeless and decided to help Yomi by playing an active role in all of this.
"Wait did you say a cave ? Can you give me more details, cause I think I know the place you are talking about, its here in the dark area but I need to know more."
The boy said as he stood up and took out his device, preparing to talk to his spirit in order to get a better prespective in the whole situation. After all at this point Souji has some expereince at this spirit hunting buisness, so he was ready to find a way to help Yomi. Then the girl asked Souji a question, the answer to that is pretty simple.
"Yes its probably your spirit, just like mine he can talk only to me in my head. Heck even yesterday my spirit sensed yours nearby so that must be it, but I wonder why you can't leave becaude if yours is stopping you then he'd be an odd one. We need to go see him in person, maybe we can convince him to help us. Sorry that we have no other option but we cant find a solution unless we go talk fo him." Souji was gaining some confidence in himself, he needed that to help Yomi and even himself.

Yomi went quiet, as she listened, and tried to remember.
One thing about dreams was that they very vivid, but as soon as she opened her eyes, they vanished, as if she underwent a memory wipe each time. She closed her eyes, trying to remember things from her long slumber. It was hard to piece, as each image was muddled by similar ones from her real world, making it hard to understand which was which. Still, after a few tries, Yomi started to pick up the pieces.
"I remember... a snake. It was coiling up a mountain and leading me alongside of it... Like a serpentine or something... And there was a mountain... it was taller than any other mountains around it. Marked with a cross. The sun ... the sun rose high from behind it." - Yomi muttered to herself, before realizing that the sun itself was... a clue. She looked at Souji, then at Bella, as she had an eureka moment. It made her bolt out of her bed, yet almost trample over herself, as the ache and soreness shot up her legs, making her reel back and grab undo the side of the bunk.
"I... the Sun... It rises in the East, like back on Earth, right? Or is it different here? Wherever that mountain is... it is where the sun rises."
The prophetic moment was over, however, as the girl was waking up more and more. And the first thing she noticed was that she still wore Kathy's sweater and her tattered skirt, along with her somewhat ruined shoes. A brief grimace of disgust came over herself. She may not have cared about the opinions of digimon too much, but being a mess like this in the presence of human beings was... embarrassing. She sat back, and covered her lower body with the blanket.
"Souji-san... I am very sorry to cause you so much trouble... But you would not happen to know if there is any spare clothes around here?"

Well as the girl began to describe the place she saw in her dream, the brown haired boy racked his brain trying to remember if he saw it when he travelled with Amy and Ooi but sadly the answer was never there, turning to face Bella the boy eyes were seeking help.
“Hey Isabella does this place sound familiar to you ? I have not been here for long, so maybe you can know this.”
The boy placed his faith in his friend, his trust of Bella only grew as the days went by but sadly today was not one where she can help him with things. She hung her down sadly and shook her head, almost a bit disappointed in herself but there was nothing she can do.
“I am sorry guys as much as I would love to help but I am not from here, I am from Luminas and that’s where I lived most of my life. I am as unfamiliar with where we are as you are Souji, but you know who should know about this ? your spirit partner, he said that he lived his life here and even claimed to have been famous here, he ought to know something why not ask him.”
Isabella plan was smart, the spirit has to know something what with his ancient knowledge of the dark area, so the boy roamed the pocket of his black pants in order to take out the device and communicate with his trapped friend. But before he could do that the girl shot up and added a new revelation and a new thread to follow. However soon after that Souji would notice that not just her glasses where bent out of shape but also her clothes, her top was not that bad it was passable, but upon his travelling down to her tattered skirt the boy face will be covered with a light pink blush as he gets extremely tense and instinctively look down.
“um e-x-cuse m-e Y-omi gotta talk with my spirit”
The boy was so nervous that he walked back a little bit from Souji and start speaking into his device, and quickly going over everything with the spirit who took a couple of seconds to think of an answer and finally got something.
(listen kiddo I wont stop you, I know you are reckless but the mountain she saw might be in the mountain range that is 7 kilometers from here, I will say this the dark area is a ruthless and merciless place, if you want to live you must harden your resolve and be merciless during battle got it ?)
The boy was definitely worried by the words that he heard in his mind, but they have to go there in order to help Yomi there was no other options. The boy stood there thinking about what to do and how must he change to fit in this new world he was thrown into, questioning if he should go against his instincts and be a professional fighter in order to survive, it was a topic too heavy for his young an inexperienced soul. Luckily for him he did not need to make a decision just yet, as Yomi’s voice snapped him from his daze as he looked up to her and heard her request.
“oh no its no trouble at all Yomi, there is only one issue with that you see.” The boy stopped and scratched the side of his head. “I have a lot of clothes here with me but its my clothes if you get what I am trying to say, are you ok with wearing boy clothes ? they are all super clean. If so go to the my closest over there and help yourself out we will get out to give you space to change.”
While that was fine and dandy Isabella was anxious to know the answer of the spirit.
“hey boy, what did he say ? does he know where that place is or do we have to go ask someone else ?”
“oh no, he actually has an estimate, he said that the place might be in the mountain range 7 km to the east, so we need to actually do a little trip, we better eat the food you brought us Bella in order to prepare for the trip.” Souji said as he turned to Yomi his eyes almost seemed like it wanted to see her response about eating a little bit before going.

That's horribly convenient...
The fact that the mountain range was so close to the camp, that is. It could be any mountain range in this forsaken place... But I guess it's a place to start... Besides... it's not like I can go anywhere alone... - Yomi thought, and shuddered a little. These creatures were ... amazing. And terrifying at the same time. Being caught alone by one was not an option.
"Maybe it's the mountain from my dream... And maybe it's how my spirit was becoming more active, with me getting closer..."
A working theory, at least. A brief thought crossed Yomi's mind to simply try and move away from the mountain as far as possible and ask Souji to try open the portal again. It could work, but there was a catch. The thing could just zap me again once it realizes what I'm doing. And it is not afraid to hurt me...
D-tector, huh. More like a bomb.
Yomi did not listen to the dialogue between Souji and the fairy too much. Whenever she did, a dull ache at the back of her head reminded the girl that she was still dizzy, and the little cuts on her hands from crumpling the glasses were starting to sting. She looked up at Souji again, as he offered some of the clothes. Unlike the petite Katherine, he was more around her height. The girl looked at him, then away.
"I'll take anything you give me... This... creature thing will not let me out any time soon... And I'll need something sturdier than my school uniform. What's left of it."
She covered some of the ruptures in her skirt with her hands, cheeks becoming rosy. Is this what being a beggar feels like?
