A lovely deceit [Akemi/Kath] [Valentine's event]

Post by Katherine Jasso on Feb 15, 2019 3:57:38 GMT
There were many things about this day Katherine wasn’t prepared for. Akemi praising her beauty and telling her she couldn’t stop staring at her was one of these. But, most importantly, the fact that she wanted Katherine to keep looking at her, was making her crazy. Those words had probably been the one thing that was missing for her body and her head to get like really flustered, beyond what she could control. She had never been the one to deny it; she liked being watched, she liked watching the beauty in others too. But her beauty to be admired by none other than Akemi was the last straw she could take in all of this. She wasn’t even able to throw any type of response at the girl. She just knew her face had gotten as red as possible and a warm sensation was going through all of her body.
Doing as best as she could, she held her gaze and looked at Akemi right into those beautiful eyes. However, every other second, her eyes drifted away from her sight. Why? Because if she let herself be embraced by those eyes again, she was going to kiss Akemi, she was going to kiss her like she had never been kissed before. And she couldn’t allow herself for Akemi to hate her. She just couldn’t.
On a brighter note, Akemi had totally agreed to model for her, and that only brought her pure happiness. Even if she was still fairly thrown off by her friend’s recent comments. She was having trouble to even start processing the joy she was feeling; she was still very nervous and flustered by everything she had said. The time to talk about Jazz clinging into the Chohakkaimon form and her reasons to do so, or the time to talk about anything work-related would probably come later. She was too much of a mess right now to deal with those subjects.
It didn’t matter how much she tried to avoid it, her thoughts kept wavering between the idea this was terribly wrong and shouldn’t be happening and the meaning of her feeling extremely satisfied and loved. She was a part of this conversation and at the same time, she wasn’t. Of course, Akemi saying she found ‘tempting’ the idea of Katherine staying by her side only fueled all of this thoughts. However, the question Katherine had brought to the table herself, far from putting an end to this by bringing her back to reality, would only bring more of this intern conflict.
Part of this came with certain realizations brought to her by Akemi’s thoughts. This was a date, wasn’t it? They were on a date together. A date is not something you do with a friend, is something with you do with someone you have a romantic interest on. The whole conception of this day implied the possibility of them having feelings beyond friendship for each other, right? At least from Amelie’s point of view. Whether this was a coincidence or Amelie’s perception actually seeing something between them, Katherine had been paired off in a date with the girl she couldn’t stop thinking about since that day at Nei’s house. And the fact of Akemi being much aware of this and still being willing to keep going was… confusing, to say the least. It awakened so many feelings inside of Katherine it was even hard to list them.
And then, Akemi’s last sentence would come. If Katherine was a mess before of this comment, now her emotional intelligence was zero and her brain was a complete chaos. The fact she was unable to think when it came to Akemi was not helping her read what her friend meant by these words. Her eyes widened up and she would stare at her friend, a bit speechless. Her hands would look for physical contact again, this time reaching for the shorter girl’s hand, and staring to wrap her fingers around hers.
Was the doubt even worse than a broken heart? She didn’t know that. But she was damn sure all of these questions flooding her head didn’t feel good at all. Who was Akemi talking about? Could it be…? How did she feel about this? How could the sole, preposterous thought that Akemi was talking about her make her happy? How could something so wrong feel so good?
“I see…” Her eyes had drifted away from Kemi’s, again. No. She needed some fresh air. This was just… too much for her. She needed to step back, before going back at this.
“Well! I think I’m ready to get some sun.” Katherine took a sitting position on the bed and stretched her arms. Then, she stood up, taking off her beach wrap. “I might need a bit of a tan; don’t you think?” She asked, accompanying her words with a short twirl, much like the one her friend had done before.
Her bare feet spun over the wood and walked through the small platform. She reached the counter they had previously seen when they arrived and made her way to the back, crouching to look for something. Over the counter, she placed a couple of bottles and two empty glasses. She opened up a freezer (this place had everything!) and put at least four ice cubes into each glass. “Do you want a new drink?” Katherine’s own glass was empty already, so… why not? Maybe alcohol could help her a bit to stop thinking so damn much and being calmer. Maybe not.
“I have no idea on how to make these.” She pouted. “But we’ve got juice and… I’ll assume this is vodka?” She tilted her head, staring at a bottle with a transparent liquid. It was likely this was some type of special Digital-World-exclusive alcohol. She hoped it was obvious enough she had no idea of what she was doing. “So this first…” She muttered, pouring some of the see-through liquid to then top off with a green-colored juice. After mixing it a bit she decided to take a sip at her recent creation.
It tasted good! “It's very good!” Of course, it wasn’t like she was super experienced in the alcohol department, but this had a sweet and sour flavor that tasted excellent in her mouth. However, due to that particular taste being stronger in this one, she could immediately tell this had a much bigger amount of alcohol than the previous drink they were having. "So... want to try?"
Who would tell? Katherine Jasso, an inexperienced drinker, recurring to alcohol to gain confidence and make it through this date. Was this a good idea? Only time would tell.

Akemi hadn't quite realized yet that what she was admitting was not simply just the notation of an absolute truth when it came to the idea of 'girls being unable to love girls.' It was only until after she had finished speaking those words that she had realized what she had said. Did she just admit she was falling in love with someone? Much less someone right IN FRONT OF HER?
Oh, right, and her face was red as a tomato too with this realization. Would Katherine be able to deduce anything or would she not realize who she was talking about? Or...Or was it that obvious? She did go along with the date that Amelie had set up for them thus far...And there was probably a reason she put them two of them together for this...
...Was it too early to even reveal that? Akemi was uncertain in that regard. Her hand reached for Katherine's to try giving a squeeze. If there was any consolation to this? She could at least...vocalize these thoughts. They'd been in her head for a bit, and actually putting them out into the world was nothing short of relieving. Plus? If nothing else, being here and talking to Katherine was nice.
Honestly, there were a lot of reasons why Akemi was enjoying the date even with this...awkward turn it took. Katherine had decided that some sun was needed and did away with the beach wrap. Akemi managed to form a smirk! "I think that's worth a shot, but we should at least put some sunscreen on first. I...wouldn't want to burn on my first date. Nor do I want my date to burn either." Now, did she want another drink?
As Katherine began to move towards the counter, Akemi opted to follow her. She didn't dare shed her dress just yet, that would take the fun out of the big reveal! She waited at the counter, before Katherine revealed that she had no clue how to mix drinks. "If it's any consolation...Um. I don't know either, so...Baby steps. That does look like vodka..." A shrug. Why were they, two inexperienced drinkers, being trusted with alcohol at all? Nonetheless, Akemi decided to keep watch.
Sure, she might not be much help, if any, but she could at least learn from this. If the creation she had made was so good, then clearly she should be able to handle it, right? "Sure, let me at 'em!" This could only end well. Nothing bad could happen from more alcohol, right?
Akemi held a hand out for the concoction without a name. She wasn't about to refer to this as resorting to anything but it was more the sating of curiosity. What could this wreak? What could this drink do? And would it make having fun on the beach any easier or any more difficult?
Time would tell.

It was hard to tell for Katherine if Akemi was just utterly adorable or everything she did just seem adorable to her. But the fact that she just stood there, watching her mix a drink she had no idea how to prepare in silence came to her as incredibly cute. At the same time, it felt good she’d trust her on this.
Once Akemi had agreed into having one too, Katherine mimicked her own steps to prepare another drink, exactly like the one she had prepared for herself and handed it to her friend. “How does it taste?” She asked, tilting her head while she waited for her date to take a sip. “Please be honest.” No praising her first drink ever made out of pity! It tasted good to her, but that didn’t mean it’d taste good for Akemi.
After all, they did come from different cultures. “I know the types of drinks where you mix juice with alcohol are more common in Latin American culture. I could swear I once saw my mom drink something similar to this. Europeans tend to drink more wine and beer; you know? Like… they don’t like mixing stuff.” Maybe she was not an experienced drinker, but she had read some books and been all around the world, after all. “I still haven’t quite seen what Japanese people drink, but I do know you guys like your sake and beer a lot.” Of course, she didn’t mean Amaya per se, but Japanese people as a whole.
“Now that I think about it…” Katherine placed her index finger over her lower lip. All of this conversation made her realize there was a lot she didn’t know about Akemi. All of that side of their life that was related to digimon was so convoluted it was hard to take time to talk about normal stuff. “… I don’t know that much about you. At least not as much as I would like to know.” Well, it was time to make some questions. But, before…
The green-eyed took a sip of her drink and went for the infinity-store once again, taking a bottle of sunscreen out of the cube. She always forgot to put on this, ever since she was a kid. So it was a good thing Akemi was around to remind her. Katherine walked back to the beach bed where they had previously laid at and looked for a way to put the parasol away. If they wanted to get some sun rays having that there wouldn’t be useful. At last, she found a button that, after being pressed, simply pulled the parasol shut and left the beach bed at the sun’s mercy. Such technology.
“Can you help me?” She extended her hand with the bottle of sunscreen to Akemi, while placing her drink on the floor, next to the beach-bed. It would be easier if her friend put the sunscreen on her, right? “I’ll put some on you right after, okay?” She added while lying face down on the beach bed.
Once Akemi approached her, and while the shorter girl put sunscreen on her, Katherine would tackle the subject she had pending.
“I want you to tell me more about you. I know you live in Shibuya. Were you born there? I also know you have a little sister, but not much more than that. What school do you go to?” She didn’t feel like flooding her friend with questions, but she did want her to tell her everything about herself. “Is there anything you would like to study once you graduate?”
Akemi was a marvelous human being, and Katherine wished to keep discovering more about the amazing person she was.

How nice of Katherine to prepare a second one. Though, the Japanese girl did feel it pertinent to remind Katherine of something. "While I will be honest, I'm gonna point out that while yes, Japanese people like sake and beer...I've never had either. So, this date's...very literally my first tango with alcohol." Akemi adjusted her (beach) hat accordingly. She was going to go into this with as much honesty as she can provide after having only had a single drink thus far.
She took a sip from the green drink and noted immediately the contrasting sweet and sour flavor. This actually worked in it's favor, as Katherine had managed to make a drink that tasted nice. The sour part was much stronger than the other drink--likely thanks to the fact that vodka was utilized.
Akemi waited a moment, while Katherine had moved back to the beach bed, before she followed her and took another sip. Okay. Verdict had been decided. Time to deliver. "It's a good drink. I...think you did a good job, despite neither of us knowing a thing about...drinks like this. Or making them." Katherine did have a point, though. Akemi was...not known for disclosing a lot about herself. To anyone. She had an okay (to her) reason for it, though.
She just thought she was boring compared to everyone else. Boring compared to her friends who hailed from allover the world. The girl set her drink aside. Katherine was...requesting that she help her put sunscreen on. "Y-Yeah, I can help with that. Sure." It would be easier, sure, but...She had to be careful.
Veeeery careful. Otherwise, putting sunscreen on your date's back? Should be simple. Plus, the question being presented was surprisingly...simple. Akemi could answer it in quite a few ways, but she felt like being honest. That's probably what Kath would like.
Yet, the question wasn't what was difficult. It was keeping focused while applying sunscreen to one (1) cute girl. "I wasn't born in Shibuya, no. I'm actually from Shiki, but my family moved to Shibuya when I was younger. Around the time when Shizuka was born. Speaking of her, she's kind of like me but...also not really. Like, she's smart for a twelve year old. And crafty. I don't know if I mentioned it before but the nun that held me at gunpoint once? The reason she's protecting Shizuka is because she managed to save her life by lying to a Digimon. That's...all I know about that story, unfortunately."
She'd definitely tell it if she could, though. School, though... "I just go to the local high school. It's...boring, I know. I don't know what I want to study. It's...not something that's occurred to me yet, and given the time I graduate's coming closer and closer, it's...kind of scary. I suppose I wanna open or own a store someday. Sell something I made or something my friends made. That's...really that, but I know I need to be a bit more specific..." She trailed off. "I like playing the piano. I also like flowers, too. We have a cat named Tama. The nun likes to play with her in her BlackGatomon form a bunch."
To note, Akemi was certainly applying the sunscreen while she was saying all of this. It was a task that definitely, most certainly made her more nervous than it should have, but it was something she was going to make sure she did right. When she was done, though, an idea struck her. A good one, at that. "Hey, why don't you tell me some things I don't know about you while you put some sunscreen on my back too? I think that's a fair trade." If she was going to extrapolate a bunch? Katherine should tell her some things too.
She awaited the spaniard's thoughts on that.

While she remained laying down over the beach-bed, the only effect these sips of alcohol were having on Katherine’s body was bringing a bit of lightness to her head. She honestly was feeling more and more disinhibited and less preoccupied with each second. The reason? That was not surprising at all. “I think we’re doing fine for being a couple of inexperienced drinkers.” She gave a tender smile to Akemi. “My mom did tell me once that, when you’re not used to drinking alcohol, you might see the effects kicking in on you sooner than your average drinker.” She noted. Right now these effects were not meaningful at all, so she knew she was fine. However, it was something good to have in mind. You know, just in case.
The exact moment when Akemi’s hand made contact with her skin made Katherine shiver. It felt amazing. Her friend had a delicate, subtle touch and a pair of very soft hands. It was almost as if a feather was dancing all over Katherine’s skin. The shorter girl’s movements and the daintiness that she performed this task with was simply intoxicant, like she just couldn’t have enough. Her caresses, combined with the sound of the ocean and Akemi's beautiful voice speaking to her was so relaxing it was hard to not fall asleep while she did it. Katherine was loving every second of it.
Yet still, the green-eyed was paying much attention to Akemi. She really wanted to know a lot about her.
“So your little sister is named Shizuka. That’s a very cute name.” She said, her eyes closed, humming a bit. “I consider you to be very smart too. I’m sure Amy wouldn’t have had you in her team if you weren't.” She just thought it was a good idea to point that out. Regarding Shizuka and her own story... it was fairly interesting. “You mentioned the gun-pointing at you part, but I didn’t know what was the reason for her to be protecting your sister. I would like to meet both one day.”
“That’s not boring. It’s pretty nice. I have to go all the way to Hiroo to go to school.”A random thought just came to her head. “It’d be super good if we went to the same school, though.” A chuckle escaped her. “Don’t forget to send me your address through our D-Terminal later on. It would be nice to spend some time together in the Human World, just like that day at Paul’s restaurant.” Then again, there was something even more interesting about the girl’s speech.
“So you’ve got a heart for commerce. In that case, I might have an offer for you.” She turned her head to see her friend. “I would like you to sell the clothes of my brand once you open your store. Would you be okay with that?” She asked, giving her another smile. Of course, Katherine didn't have any brand just yet neither Akemi had any store. This was just a bit of fantasizing. She then shook her head. “Not at all. Don’t put pressure on yourself. People put too much pressure on us teenagers regarding those decisions for us to be hard on ourselves too. I think you should take your time.” For someone who used to overthink a lot, Katherine was actually giving a good piece of advice about taking things easy. The Spaniard went back to her original position, lying face down and enjoying Akemi’s hands on her body.
“What’s your favorite type of flower?” Maybe planning a future gift. “And when is your birthday?” A pause. “Those are totally unrelated questions, by the way.”
Regarding Akemi’s suggestion…
“Wait, is it over? So soon?” It was not soon at all, Katherine just wanted a bit more of that. “Nope, not yet.” Still laying down she moved a hand to her back and unhooked the upper part of her swimsuit. “You missed that spot.” She said, in an obviously ‘bossy’ but playful tone of voice. “Besides, did you really get my legs? I didn’t feel that. And tell me when you’re done with all of my backsides so I can turn.” Saying Katherine's voice had gone from playful to flirtatious was an understatement.
Even if this level of leisureliness about doing this was partly the alcohol’s kicking in. It made sense for Akemi to do the full job, right? Besides, this second part would give Akemi time to tackle all of the subjects Katherine had left in the inkpot. “Don’t worry, I swear I’ll put sunscreen on you after this.”
She wouldn’t miss that by anything in the world.

"I think your mom might be on to something. It's...starting to get kind of hard to keep myself focused right now..." It might have been stated before, but there were multiple reasons for this, and one of them was definitely the alcohol, and the other was most definitely Katherine herself. Was that bad? Not really. In fact, not at all might be a better way to say it.
It was true that Akemi had some soft and delicate hands, but the girl was actively trying her best to be dainty with this task. Cautious. "Yeah...The nun, Priere, also known as 'the Empress', thought I was about to kidnap her or something when I came to take her home from school. Probably the...second most terrifying encounter I've had with a Digimon. I think Priere and Shizu would like to meet you as well. Hm...Maybe..."
An idea! "How about I invite you to dinner at my place one day? Then you could meet a whole chunk of my family if you so wish." Oh god, she did not envy Katherine having to go all the way out there for school, though. The girl gave a nod towards Kath. Had she not sent her address already...? Huh.
Seems like she would have to rectify that by hand later on. "I'd gladly accept that offer...if I had a store to carry your brand in, heh. But, when that time comes? I'd be happy to. More than happy to, in fact." Fantasizing or not...It would be a dirty lie to say that Akemi didn't like this idea. Of course, Kath's words about her...fears considering graduation and what she'd study did wonders to relieve said fears. "Mmhmm. Agreed, it's...what I've been trying to do." Was she doing a good job? Anyone's guess.
She was doing better, at the very least. As her hands slowed to a crawl, Akemi gave a thought on how to answer the first of the two questions.
"Favorite flower...I'll answer that next. My birthday's in May. May 28th, to be specific. Anyways, my favorite flower would have to be the kiku. Or, as it's known in other languages, chrysanthemum. Why? Well, if you know the language of flowers, they have a specific meaning to them. Trust. Nobility. Purity. Pretty nice, isn't it?"
She let out a chuckle! "No, not really...." Oh god, did she really miss that many places? Was she REALLY EXPECTED TO PUT SUNSCREEN UP THERE? "Ummm....Alright, I-I will." Akemi's voice grew a tad more nervous as she set about to applying more sunscreen. This time to just about every place that Kath had pointed out. Including her legs. Especially the legs.
...Akemi couldn't figure out why she really liked Katherine's legs. But, it was likely the same reason she liked Katherine's eyes. And her hair. She just looked cute. What's wrong with that? At least she'd get to return the favor afterwards. Right?

Well, according to what Akemi had said earlier, Katherine was not the only one feeling a bit lightheaded. These were probably good news. If anything it meant that she was not the only one going through all of this, at least. Besides, it felt… kind of funny.
Knowing all of this about her friend was giving Katherine a feeling of satisfaction even bigger than the one she was getting from feeling her soft hands around her body. And that was a lot. She finally felt she knew a lot more about Akemi, about what she liked and what surrounded her. Her heart even skipped a beat after listening to that possible invitation. Her eyes widened up and she immediately turned her head towards Akemi.
“Y-You… mean that?” She asked. Was this what they called... too perfect to be true? “I would love that! I had never been to anyone’s house for dinner. That sounds so fun! I’m sure your family is great.” They were probably part of the reason Akemi Amaya was such a wonderful girl, right? So they had to be awesome. Katherine felt the urge of giving her friend a very tight hug. She felt so special she couldn’t even describe it right now. She hooked the upper part of her bikini (still lying face down over the bed) and once that was done she incorporated into a sitting position to give Akemi a warm hug.
“Thank you. That means… a lot.” She always wanted to do something like that. She always wanted someone she could open up to and share amazing moments. Akemi Amaya was far more than what she had ever wanted.
By the time the shorter teenager was done putting sunscreen on the frontal side of her body, Katherine had collected very valuable information. Her birthday and her favorite type of flower, for example. Very interesting. What was even better, she had even seen chrysanths at sale at some flower shops around her school so… future gift incoming?
Speaking of gifts, Akemi was done with hers. So it was now the turn for Katherine to put some sunscreen on her. “Thank you very much.” The Spaniard lowered her head, shyly. “Y-you know… You were doing an amazing job from the start. That’s w-why… I didn’t want you to stop.” Huh. Alcohol really did give her the little push she needed to say some things she couldn’t have said otherwise before. Not that it was a lie, really.
Besides, she didn’t want Akemi to think she was bad at it or something, right? Especially when it was the exact opposite.
“So… my turn now, right?” She took off Akemi’s hat and started pulling her dress up, just so her friend finished the job. While Akemi took off her dress and the sun bounced on her soft, beautiful skin, Katherine would slowly blurt out some words. Without even noticing these were being uttered.
“You are… so beautiful. I’m glad you like me to look at you, because... I can’t stop doing it. I could say you are a work of art but... I'm usually fine with just looking at those, and I don't feel the urge of laying my hands on them.”
Damn. All of this drinking really got her saying everything that went through her mind, huh?
“I-I mean…! Lay down so I can put some sunscreen on you, please.” Katherine tried to drift away from that comment, even if it was probably too late. “I-Is there anything you want to know about me? You can ask me anything.” She was still fairly nervous, after previously letting escape that thought in the form of a comment.

Akemi had just learned something at this very moment. That having someone...seem to actually care about things about you? It was a nice feeling. However, her own feelings were quickly eclipsed by Katherine's reaction to her proposal. Akemi gave a couple of nods of the head to the girl.
"Mmhmm! It'll probably...um...amuse you to know that I've never invited anyone to dinner, either...I think they're great, too." She tried to give Katherine some space so she could hook the upper part of her bikini again before she returned the hug that was being offered to her. She felt good about that. Like she had...actually made someone's day with that.
Maybe that's what she wanted to do. Akemi wanted to make Katherine Jasso happy. Learning that she had been doing great the entire time was something that made the girl grin like an idiot. "I'm glad that you didn't. Um...I didn't want to stop either. That was...a little more fun that I thought it was going to be. Pleasant surprise...Yes. Your turn now."
Akemi allowed Katherine to take her hat off and start to pull off her dress, before the girl took hold of it, stood up and finished the job herself. She had been deliberately concealing her swimsuit this entire time for a reason, you know. It was solely to make the reveal of the black and white bikini (with FRILLS) all the more impactful for her date. Akemi contemplated tossing her dress aside, but...ultimately folded it up and set it next to the platform.
"Hm..." Was she about to actually respond to what Katherine just said? Maybe. "That's...s-super sweet of you to say, Katherine...Plus, I just finished putting sunscreen on a work of art, myself. It's fun, you should definitely give it a go!" The stutter briefly returned, but she managed to recover in time. Akemi then smirked a little bit. "...But, Ms. Jasso...What if the art were okay with that...?"
Was this REALLY what one drink could do to Akemi? Could she really comprehend the things she was saying right now? It was definitely a bit too late to drift from that comment. Akemi promptly got back on the beach bed and lay face down. She was still for but a few seconds before she reached over to undo the back of her top.
...Mostly so Kath could put some sunscreen on her whole back. "Anything I want to know? Hm..." Everything, while viable in other cases, was probably far too much for Katherine at the moment. Start small. Start. Small. "W-Well, um. I know you're...not from Japan, so...My first question. How was it like growing up in Europe? Second, um...what's your family like? And third...Do you have any hobbies?"
...There was another question she could ask. A damning one for her. But she...Shouldn't. Maybe not now.

Feeling loved was something Katherine could not say she was used to. The reasons were far more complicated than her not being good at socializing, but that one was definitely among them. That’s the reason why feeling she was special to Akemi to the point of being the first person she had ever invited over for dinner filled her heart with a bigger joy than she could put into words. These feelings were purely overwhelming. The fact that Katherine had absolutely never been forced to deal with this made it all harder for the green-eyed to control herself and her actions at this moment. Alcohol was, of course, not helping at all. She was like a little kid in a sugar rush right now. Which meant this could turn out either very good, or completely catastrophically.
In any case, it was time for the brown-eyed to get rid of her dress. Katherine blinked twice, taking a good look at her. That swimsuit was very pretty. And it looked even better on her. It was one thing picking it up from the possible choices and something completely different seeing it being worn by Akemi.
“I think it looks perfect.” Katherine couldn’t help but throwing a small fashion analysis in there. “Black and white is a very good combination for pale tones of skin, like yours. Besides, the frills give a cute touch to it, making you look both beautiful and adorable.”
Now, about that embarrassing comment that had escaped her… Was she regretting having said this? For some reason no, she wasn’t.
Maybe that was about to change, though. Akemi was actually replying, while she laid her body on the beach bed for Katherine to do her part of the deal. Did she just call her… Katherine? This caught the Spaniard by surprise. Akemi was taking a different approach to her words than what she was expecting. Her way of speaking, her tone of voice… even her attitude, showing her a playful smirk. It was almost as if she was trying to fuel whatever feeling was inside of Katherine that made her emit that comment, to begin with.
Was this surprising? Very much. What came as even more surprising to Katherine herself was that she liked this. A lot.
For now, she decided to just take another sip of her drink and just focus on the conversation, considering Akemi was elaborating some questions already. It was likely she’d come back to that comment later on.
“Well… I couldn’t even say I grew up in Europe. I’ve been… everywhere.” She declared, spurting some sunscreen on the palms of her hands and placing both of them over Akemi’s lower back, to then start slowly going up, until reaching her shoulders. “In a strict sense, I was born in Spain, but we moved from there to Paris around the time I turned two years old.” She couldn’t say she was trying her best to caress Akemi’s back with suavity and tenderness, because she didn’t need to try. This was exactly the way she wanted to touch her.
“Then we moved to Verona, Italy, when I was around five. By the time I was eight we were living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Those cities were super pretty.” It was probably better to cut to the chase with this, right? “Then it was Madrid, Dublin, Seoul, Amsterdam and then Japan.” She made a short pause. Was she forgetting any? Probably. “Oh! We lived for like four months in El Cairo but that doesn’t really count, does it?” Another pause ensued. “Dad has worked everywhere.” Her hands kept going up and down through Akemi’s back.
“So Europe was nice, but I don’t feel I grew up there specifically. Or anywhere, to be honest. I didn’t like traveling and moving that much.” Her countenance acquired a sad expression. “Since we were always moving, I never studied for more than two years in the same school. Because of that and the idiomatic barriers I never really made any friend. So it was… a bit lonely.” Sadly, even if she had been all around the world, this was what Katherine remembered the best. All of those afternoons playing by herself with her dolls inside her room.
“Dad is a good man; since we moved to Japan he decided to stop making us move every time he has to move because of work so he’s overseas most of the time.” She let out a ‘hmmm’ sound before her next sentence. “Mom was mostly there for me while growing up. But lately, she got a very important job too. She’s trying to start her own company or something, so you won’t find any of my parents at home back in Shibuya most of the times.”
“So that was growing up… I did learn at least communicational levels of French, Dutch and Korean. And I can speak Spanish and English almost perfectly. As you noticed in Shibuya… I’m still far from perfect a Japanese.” She noted. “However, in this world, I feel like my Japanese is just perfect. I’ve got a theory on what’s the reason for that, but I can tell you about it at some other time.” She giggled. Her hands were now around Akemi’s hips and were going down to reach her legs.
Oh gosh, she had spoken for too long right? While she went through Akemi’s tights and ankles, Katherine tackled the last question. “As you may know now, I want to be a fashion designer. So I like to draw some designs based on ideas that come to my head.” She made a short pause to think. “Other than that, well…” It wasn’t hard to elucidate what was her biggest hobby of them all, even if she had some doubts about putting it out there. “… there is… Undying Curiosity.”
Katherine and Jazz’s life motto. That concept that made them push forward. That sole ideology that motivated them. Other than Amelie and Yomi, Katherine hadn’t talked about this to anyone else. Could Akemi think it was stupid? Was she even interested in knowing that it was?
“You can turn now.” Katherine said. It was time to cover her frontal side with sunscreen.

Actually wearing the swimsuit out in the sun was...interesting, to say the least. Akemi didn't really go out to the beach much, and whenever she did, she usually just wore a one piece. Never really cared to flaunt what she had and all. This, however, was different. She -wanted- Katherine to get a good look at this. She wanted the Spaniard to see how her choice of swimsuit ended up working out when the girl wore it.
And lo and behold? Kath LOVED it! Akemi was grinning ear to ear with the compliments in mind. She noticed that Katherine seemed a bit surprised at her words. A little unexpected, but Akemi also didn't really regret that. In the slightest.
It was surprising to hear that Katherine didn't really grow up anywhere in specific. Rather, her family lived...somewhat of a nomadic lifestyle, never remaining in one place for very long. While this lead to the Spaniard having seen a lot, this also meant that...It wasn't really a bit lonely. It sounded far worse than that.
Akemi briefly looked up. Kath looked as sad as her words sounded. So, the girl had to fight every urge to just get up and hug Katherine and tell her she wasn't alone anymore. "I believe you. Um...I'd like to hear that theory when you're ready to tell me about it." It did seem like they could talk a lot...easier here...
Needless to say, she was enjoying Katherine's careful treatment of her. Whether this was normal or not was not up to interpretation, but Akemi was loving every second of this. Yet, one specific pair of words stated by Kath piqued her interest. "Undying Curiosity?" She repeated, as though questioning what that meant specifically. Ironically? There was curiosity behind that, too! Of course she had interest. She wanted to know everything she could.
Upon being told she could turn now, she hooked her top back up and turned around, staring right into Katherine's green eyes. "...Keep talking. I like hearing you speak. Though, now that you've mentioned all those other languages...I'm curious as to what you sound like speaking them!"

This was too perfect to be true. Was Akemi actually interested in hearing her dumb theory about the reason why everyone seemed to speak fluent Japanese inside of this world? Katherine was starting to feel they could talk about a lot of stuff. She was actually thinking Akemi was a great person to have all of those conversations she couldn’t have with others. She was thoughtful and showed interest in what she had to say. What else could she ask for?
“Sure. I am ready to tell you now but it might be too complicated for a moment like… this.” She gave a smile to her friend. Even if she loved the fact that she was interested, it was probably not the type of conversation to have while she admired Akemi’s beauty and she put sunscreen on her. She was already having enough trouble to make coherent senses and just not blatantly staring at those eyes.
There was, however, something that they could talk about. And it was absolutely marvelous Akemi wanted to hear about it. Undying Curiosity.
“The desire to know about everything there is to know.” She made a short pause. Maybe she should elaborate a bit more. “The number of things that exist in a single world, that being this or the Human World, is infinite, right? Places, people, disciplines, science. From differential calculus to a simple cooking recipe, there are all types of knowledge that can be acquired.” She couldn’t help it, a smile just made its way to her face while she explained this. “Undying Curiosity is the will to know as much as you can know about all of this. It’s being curious to know about everything. Since the amount of stuff you can know about is infinite, then that curiosity can’t die, because you’ll never know everything about everything.” Did that sound too complicated? Maybe.
“When you add the Digital World into the mix, then it gets even more interesting! Imagine all of the things you can learn from this world. From what’s the total number of digimon species that exist to what is Betamons’ favorite meal. When there are two worlds to know everything from, then you are definitely never going to finish discovering new stuff.” It was important to clarify that she wasn’t alone on this.
“You’ll never listen to either Jazz or me say we're not interested in knowing about something.” So far, it was something only the two of them shared, which made the bond all more special. Jazz was the only being, beside herself, who actually had this quality. “I think that’s why we work so well together.” She added, still looking very much excited. Her grin disappeared a bit as she decided to add something else. “I know it’s impossible to know about everything before dying but… That’s kind of the magic of it. Knowing things to know about will never end, just makes us work harder every day to know about more stuff.”
The Spaniard let a short giggle escape. “I guess we can say that’s my biggest hobby. Just reading and accumulating knowledge about stuff. I can't say I haven't been called a 'nerd' because of that.” She looked rather pensive, but not affected by it.
There it was. Katherine had talked about Undying Curiosity with Akemi. And, to be honest, she had never done something that felt so right.
The bad news? She had finished her part of the deal. "Okay, I think I'm done." She took her hands off Akemi's skin and looked at her for a second. "So... I told you what I love to do. Why don't you tell me what you love?" Did this sound like a vague question? Of course. Was it intended? Absolutely.
Katherine laid on the beach bed, next to Akemi. Now that the sunscreen was on, there was nothing to worry about regarding the sun, right?

Too complicated? Well, that was actually quite understandable considering the fact both teenagers were slightly inebriated. If it was theory that Katherine wished to speak about, then it would need to wait until both of them were at the top of their game. Something that was not quite possible right now!
A desire to know of everything that there is. That was the core of Undying Curiosity. Just knowing everything that you can possibly know. It didn't sound too complicated at all. Akemi nodded a few times as the initial explanation concluded, before Katherine went on to introduce the Digital World to this idea.
Indeed, a whole other world would add a gigantic amount of variables to the matter. "Endless possibility." All in all, Akemi gleaned something pretty important about both Katherine and Jazz from this conversation. They both were thinkers. People who would go to hell and back simply for more knowledge. People stubborn enough to keep chipping away at a challenge many would balk at simply because it was impossible.
That, in and of itself, was what was marvelous about this. "There's something to be found in that. And I think it's pride. You should be pretty proud of that, Kath." Akemi said, a smile quickly gracing her face. Things kept seeming to fall in place so well, so perfectly. Yet, she felt like she had to think carefully on the question posed by Kath.
Why don't you tell me what you love?
Well, she could restate her hobbies, but Kath had already asked about those, and she had delivered. So, she'd need to be a bit more specific here. Wouldn't want your date to see you as boring, after all. So, naturally, Akemi decided, despite all of the alcohol, to point to the first thing she could see that she could say she loved.
She didn't say a word, but she simply turned towards Kath, lifted a finger, and pointed at the Spaniard. That, honestly, said all that she wanted to say.
You.

'Happy' had started to fall short to describe how Katherine felt that morning. The reception Akemi had shown towards the concept that fueled all of her actions and Jazz’s was the best she had ever received from someone after telling them about the concept. Not only the shorter teenager seemed to perfectly understand its purpose and meaning, but she also seemed to think it was somewhat fascinating. Absolutely thrilling.
If Katherine should or not feel proud about living this type of life, considering how it had dragged her to the edge of death at least twice, it remained to be seen. She didn’t want to think about how she felt about this. What was really important here was what Akemi thought about it. And knowing she saw it as something good not only made her glad, but also meant some sort of relief for her.
“I’m glad you see it that way.” She made a pause, wavering about uttering her next words. “What you think, of all people, is very important for me, Akemi.” She added, her eyes affixed into the girl’s brown irises. Gosh, those were beautiful.
Maybe the fact of them being so beautiful was what had brought Katherine into throwing such a vague question. Seeing how Akemi was taking her own share of time to answer, Katherine opened her mouth to reformulate, but she was interrupted by an answer. One that didn’t include any words, but a single gesture.
Seeing Akemi’s index finger pointing at her, Katherine couldn’t help but retrace her words. What had she asked again? She wondered. The answer came quickly. She wasn’t that inebriated to not know. She had asked what Akemi loved. Her green eyes widened up, she lowering her gaze to stare at that finger, and then shift her gaze back at Akemi.
“You… love… me?” She asked, the motion of her lips being very slow.
Katherine could actually feel her cheeks turning red. She could feel her whole body heating up. It was that warm sensation again. The one that had invaded her before. She could feel her heart beating like crazy all over again.
It didn’t take her long to understand Akemi probably meant she loved her as a friend, but getting that response was as unexpected as magnificent.
Maybe it was the alcohol. Maybe it was the fact of her keeping these feelings away since that day at Nei’s house. Maybe it was just her not thinking again and letting everything flow. It didn’t matter now. She wanted more. She needed to say this. And, more importantly, she wanted to hear Akemi say it. She enfolded Akemi’s pointing hand with both of her own. She squeezed it tightly and got it closer to her chest.
Who knew, maybe her friend could even feel Katherine’s accelerated heartbeat.
How Akemi interpreted the words she was about to issue didn’t matter to the Spaniard anymore. Whether she wanted to think of it as ‘I love you as a friend’ or something further, she didn’t care. She just needed to say this. She just needed to let it out of her chest. Again, her lips moving slowly, she finally uttered those words that had been inside of her for so long.
“I love you, Akemi.”
For some reason, she was ready for whatever could come after this. The alcohol was probably to blame for that.

Not only was Undying Curiosity a fascinating way of life, Akemi felt like she could understand Katherine a little better with the knowledge she had just gained. Plus, Katherine seemed to like her response, too. Was it truly that important? Good? She was willing to believe it was both.
Of course, Katherine's question was difficult to compose a straight answer to. Hence, why she had opted for the simple way out. Pointing a finger. Except, she had pointed the finger right at...Katherine. That realization slowly clicked for Akemi as Katherine slowly spoke those three words. She loved her? Akemi thought back on the date thus far. Earlier she had mentioned that there was a truth to that damned phrase.
...But girls can't love girls, right?
Something that made it inherently false. She also mentioned she was falling in love with a girl right now. Did it really take her this long to...quantify that? Yes. "I...Um...Yes. I do." Akemi uttered. It was quiet. And the second she said that, her cheeks turned a bright red. This was embarrassing for her to admit, but it felt so right to make it known. And it wasn't just as a friend, either. It was far more than that. Yes, keeping that under wraps any longer might not work out so well.
There was nothing in the Digital World that could have prepared her for the words spoken next. As though Akemi had turned the question back on Katherine, she just said she...loved her as well? Oh gosh, now that warmth from earlier was definitely back. Akemi's heart was racing right now. And from what she was able to tell? So was Katherine's.
Akemi had so many things to ask, so many things she wanted to do right now. Since when? For how long? Why? But, actions did speak louder than words. The girl leaned in, slowly. "So...you do. Then allow me to give you something." She whispered, before she leaned in further, in an attempt to kiss Katherine dead on the lips.
If there was any doubt as to what kind of love Akemi Amaya felt for the Spaniard right now? This was likely the part where they would be quashed. Of course, the fact that she had little in the way of ideas on what to do here might be a hindrance, on top of the alcohol basically being her copilot right now...But, did she think this was the right way to proceed?
She certainly did.

Even if a part of Katherine wanted Akemi to fully say it, that ‘Yes. I do’ definitely made her heart race as it had never raced before so far. Of course, it would be far better to listen to that beautiful voice say ‘I love you’ but, for now, that was enough. It wasn’t as if she had much time to dwell on this, though. She was actually wondering what did Akemi mean. The way she was saying it, it sounded like something way bigger than a simple friendship. Katherine then remembered what the girl had mentioned earlier about falling in love with a girl.
Even if the sole premise sounded completely absurd, Katherine couldn’t help but think, given the signals, Akemi meant… her?
Well, the time for thinking was over. Akemi had heard her say she loved her. The Spaniard had no interest in putting boundaries into her own phrase. It was Akemi who should interpret it as she wanted to and act according to it.
Of course, she was very much not prepared for the action Akemi was about to take.
“Give… me… someth-?” Katherine started asking, slowly, retracing her friend’s own words. She interrupted herself upon seeing the girl was scooting closer and closer to her. Her eyes widened up and went to the girl’s lips.
Contact.
Katherine felt her own lips being slowly caressed by another set. They were soft. Very soft. She realized this was it. This was officially her first kiss ever. It was happening. It was happening with none other than one of her best friends. Whatever that was previously inside of Katherine’s head that made her feel all of what she felt towards Akemi was wrong and it couldn’t happen, seemed to have disappeared. Because right now this felt so right.
Slowly, Katherine closed her eyes, and what was previously a simple contact led her to start moving her lips, slowly closing them around Akemi’s, over and over again. She was trying her best, even if she had no idea how to actually proceed. Did she care, even? She didn’t. She just wanted to do it. The doubts. The wavering. The fear. It was all gone. Even if she had tried to fight it, it was clearer than ever that the phrase ‘girls can’t love girls’ was false. She was kissing a girl, and she was loving every last bit of it. She wanted Akemi to feel she was enjoying it. No, she needed it.
The Spaniard let go of Akemi’s hand and placed her left hand around Akemi’s hips, while her right hand intertwined some her fingers around the shorter girl's hair. Slowly, she started scooting Akemi so she ended up with her body on top of her. She would even apply a bit of force to her movement, so Akemi knew that was exactly what she wanted. She wanted her to be on top.
Whether it was the alcohol, the fact Katherine had stored these feelings inside of her for too damn long or both, Katherine was not wavering anymore. If they were doing this, they were going to do it right.
