Monodramon kneeled down among the rubble and half-ashen scraps of the former building and grabbed a piece of wood with his claws. He recognized the tiny bludgeoning marks on the fragment, as he had made those himself, a long time ago. The marks themselves were not very deep, as one might expect from an in-training digimon. Even so, back then Dorbickmon encouraged him and praised them for those tiny things. He told him one day he would become truly strong, to take it easy. There was time to play and learn, the dojo wasn’t going anywhere, that it was a good hit already.
“Digty Dig Dig.” Monoramon’s drill claws spun as he stabbed them into a nearby former wooden support column and it burst to splinters, leaving only the lower half and some wooden strands and spikes, like an uncut grass field of wood. Monodramon simply remained there, staring at the broken pieces of wood lying among the rest of the ashes. “Liar.”
What caused this? Where did Dorbickmon go? Not even on that day had he allowed anything like this to happen to the dojo...
It wasn’t long after Rain and Silence had come and joined the dojo. Monodramon, at the time Caprimon, was hidden behind a basket of woolen blankets, eyes closed in both fear and a desire to avoid getting wood dust on it, from all the bits and pieces falling as the masked renamon clan leaped around the dojo, using the pillars, the walls, even the roof as support and momentum, sending splinters of wood flying out of wherever their feet landed or they propelled themselves from. They had come earlier, demanding that Rain return to their village, but Rain herself had refused and so in turn Dorbickmon had refused to hand her over as well. Rain tried to explain to them the great training that Dorbickmon had been providing her, but the leader of the renamons shook their head.
“For one of our own to steep this low, it’s unnaceptable. If these techniques are as impressive as you boast, then we shall see for ourselves.” They said, cueing the start of the battle. Rain had since been pushed back into a corner, while Dorbickmon battled the rest of the present clan and Silence took Caprimon away to hide.
“Swift Strike!” Several of the renamon’s called out. From a little crack in the wall, I witnessed as two renamons rammed into each other, while two more where dodged and a final one blocked with Dorbickmon’s arm. He then grabbed her leg and slammed her down on one of the renamon’s that had just missed him, while the other he seemingly also wanted to hit escaped.
“Rapid Kick!” One of the renamon’s managed to get a series of kicks in against Dorbickmon’s back. He growled a bit and Caprimon’s breath was missing for a moment, until Dorbickmon turned back around and sent her flying with a punch to the gut. Realizing how fruitless the rookie’s attacks were against him, Dorbickmon too a deep breath.
“FCF Strike: Dash.” An aura of red data enveloped him, and he suddenly was right besides the leader of the masked renamons, preparing a punch. His arm unfortunately missed her position, instead resulting on a renamon quite literally standing on top of his arm. Dorbickmon attempted to shake her off, but she simply back flipped into the room.
“What a lack of courtesy, for such a brute to even take my duel with Rain, have you no shame o’master of this dojo? Well, forget my own then. I shall fight Rain, whether you stand in the way or else! Renamon digivolve to…”
A bright light enveloped her, her mask seeming to almost take the shape of a scowl with the brightness behind it, as the renamon’s form morphed into a four-legged one.
“Kyubimon! Fox Tail Inferno!” Her nine tails raised at once, forming blue spheres of flame that were shot in Rain’s direction, but spread ever so slightly in an attempt that at least a couple of them would get past Dorbickmon, who in turn put his hand forward.
“FCF Strike, Dash!” That red aura enveloped him again, and for a moment the everything seemed to almost meld together, culminating every single one of Kyubimon’s attacks striking Dorbickmon in the exact same point. It had been a long time since Caprimon had seen him flinch.
“Master Dorbickmon!” He shouted. How useless could he be? Caprimon? More like Crapimon, he couldn’t even damage the training posts, and now Dorbickmon had actually just been hurt, and yet he was hiding like a coward!
“What is this?” The kyubimon pondered.
“No!” Dorbickmon’s shout caused kyubimon to turn to him, chuckling a little. Her tails raised again.
“Oh I see, so that’s how it is. Fox Tail Inferno.”
More fireballs.
“Grrrr, FCF Strike: Dash!”
A repeat of the previous attack.
“Master Dorbickmon, I won’t...I…” This was no time to wait around.
“Fox Tail Infer-”
“Nooo!” My felt kind of strange as Caprimon smashed through the wooden door with a tackle, he felt himself expanding in a way, but blind for a moment, until he realized the very words he was uttering. “....Monodramon! Crack bite!”
“Grrrrr!” the kyubimon growled as Monodramon’s teeth sinked into her leg and her fireballs became like tiny sparkles. “Insolent little pest, Tengu!”
Several more of the fireballs appeared and merged together into a single on, which began shrinking and forming some kind of energy, but Monodramon kept his teeth tightly clutched on kyubimon’s leg, in fact he pressed further. He couldn’t let her get Dorbickmon, nomatter what!
“FCF Strike!”
Everything from there happened in a flash. The pain of the kick from the escaping kyubimon, followed from the one of his missing eye and shoulder gushing out data, the feeling of his body being unable to bridge the gap formed in his code…
The renamons ended up retreating that day, but Monodramon...he looked at the bandages covering his shoulder and placed one of his paws on it, rubbing it slightly. It was light trying to rub water, except a little more painful. He shook his head, looked over to the horizon.
“Come on now. It’s time we get going.”
