Honestly why should they expect anything of her?
She had come from out of no where, was a no one that anyone here had heard of. Sure she looked familiar and there of course was protocols to get around that. She was okay with the limited amount of things she was allowed to do, it would help her grow. She'd stare up at the sealsdramon and blink lightly as she felt that mechanical eye rest on her.
"That makes sense sir. Oh. I've... never fought against someone stronger but I'll do my best sir."
Another five minutes and she got to watch that spar finish out. She was left staring up at the leomon, her ears flicking lightly as the other addressed her. She'd slowly nod and step forward, glancing back at the sealsdramon.
"That's me. Uh. Pleasure to meet you... Sir?"
There was a hint of nervousness in her voice and the renamon eyed the leomon. He looked like a heavy hitter to her, or at least that's what she assumed given the amount of muscles he had.
"Do we just... start or is there a signal?"

"Eyes forward. He's your opponent, not me."
The Sealsdramon would leave her off with that one comment, even with the nervous tone evident in Silence's voice. The Leomon gave a nod to that introduction - and as for a starting signal? "The Sealsdramon will fire a dry round into the air. Once that happens, we can start."
So, no countdown: they would be allowed to go off at full speed as soon as the sound of that shot rang out into the air. And perhaps unfortunately for Silence, the Leomon was not instructed to hold back. As soon as that shot echoed out, the Leomon's fist gave a fierce glow, the lion assuming a boxer's stance. One step in, from across the arena, and that massive surge of energy would rocket towards the Renamon's position.
"Fist of the Beat King!"

"Y-yes sir!"
Silence flicked her ears nervously and turned to face the leomon properly. She'd shift a bit noting that the other was... well. He was a fair bit stronger than she was and once he told her that the sealsdramon would fire a dry round to indicate the start she could only really nod at that. The renamon shifting quietly and once that shot rang out the renamon took her own stance.
It was that of a swordsman, one that had practice but was self taught. It came out of no where really, her right foot facing forward and her back one slightly bending so that she could move out of the way. Though her hands were empty one of them was balled into a fist while the other was fairly open. Ready to do whatever.
However she wasn't fast enough to get out of the way of the fist of the beast king. Her eyes widened as she was mid dodge and the renamon took the force straight to her mid-riff. With a grunt she went flying backwards almost out of their little arena.
Growling in irritation, more at herself for not being faster the renamon slowly stood up, her legs shaking a bit as this was the first real blow she ever had to deal with. Huffing at herself the renamon shifted to her feet and before she could even do anything there was...
Quite a massive energy pulse from the renamon itself, while her form didn't change the digimon was reading like a super mega all for a split second. Causing the renamon to pause and look down at herself in confusion.
"E-eh?"
No digivolution, no terrible presence. Just a single moment of this overwhelming power from the renamon. As quickly as it had come the signal also went. Leaving the renamon looking out of sorts. Tsking to herself she'd draw her hands together and take that stance again. What would the leomon do now?

There was a reason the Leomon wasn't holding back: it was to teach Silence just how serious work in the guard was. Often enough, the Town Guard would receive unskilled Digimon who weren't suited for the role, mentally or physically, and rather than have them break down on the battlefield, they instead tested them here to see how they would compose themselves. If one were to respond foolishly after getting back up on their feet - simply running away, or charging in without a thought - they were liable to be kicked out and right themselves up before applying again.
The Leomon looked on as the Renamon struggled back to her feet. If nothing else, he respected her stance: a good distribution of her weight, showing at least some skill with some sort of blade. Maybe there's something here - hm?
Both the Leomon and Sealsdramon felt it, a surge of energy radiating from the fox. A moment before, the Leomon was intent on simply rushing in to finish the fight, but that sudden burst - one of an absolutely overwhelming data signal - made the Leomon actually give pause. He gave a 'tsk', and rested his palm on a short dagger kept at his belt.
By sheer chance, the Renamon had been granted a moment to act, the Leomon forced to reassess his opponent.

The renamon's eyes struggled to find an opening in her opponant, she wasn't seeing anything she really could use in immediacey. She'd grit her teeth; alternating her steps to shift to one side. The renamon unsure of what exactly she should do, she had a small pool of skills and there wasn't really much she could do given his extra reach.
If she had something that could maybe... The renamon needed to stop pausing stop acting so bloody timid. She'd bite her lip and at that moment that he gave her she sprang forward, there wasn't much in the way of openings she could use yes. But one hand rested on the short dagger and there were only so many ways you could use something like that.
Use the blade.
The renamon's eyes swept over the leomon's body and without a moment of hesitation she sprang forward.
There's no openings!
Use the blade.
Her free hand came to her closed one, and with another pulse of energy that she drew outwards. There came and formed a blade, it's shimmering elegance of blue, warped with the holy energy from her past iteration. Twisting around itself to form something akin to a broadsword. It was a wee bit wavy if not unfocused from the fact she had never practiced with this weapon.
But she made a single upwards sweep intent on catching the leomon across his chest, though it was an easy read from others. But the fact she had conjured a sword of her own?
What else was this form capable of?

She's still hesitating. Perhaps she doesn't know what happened, either?
A sheer chance? The Leomon remained cautious at middle range, keeping a hand on the blade's hilt at his back, waiting for the Renamon's movement. Indeed, he left few openings: against a foe that could use a short range teleport, he had to keep his senses sharp and aware, ready to counter whatever motion she tried to use. Eventually, the fox broke the stalemate, darting forth, her stance remarkably familiar in the Leomon's eyes.
A blade?
He grit his teeth, and drew his own sword into his right hand, the blade's edge meeting and easily matching that aura-based blade, swung right up towards his chest. If the fox held on, it would be enough to make her momentum carry her head forward, the wrists below acting as a pivot - which would leave her underside exposed for the lion's uppercut, followed-through with his free arm!

Silence didn't really know what happened there, it was confusing to her and held a lot of her attention. What even was that? What could that of been? It was kind of distracting even as she was swinging her sword. Of course though the leomon had a quick reaction to it, his own blade coming to meet hers. Her momentum did carry through, the blade of hers thankfully not breaking even if she was unsure how well it'd hold out.
Though she wasn't entirely ready for the uppercut the slammed into her, sending her sprawling backwards that blade tumbling from her grasp and a wheeze coming from her as her concentration broke. Though this would be greeted with a rambunctious coughing as she tried to get airflow back into the normal flow of things.
If allowed she'd push herself back up, wiping some dribble of spit from her face. She seemed still uncertain but she didn't look willing to quit even though her opponent was clearly stronger than her. But honestly what else was she supposed to do other than continue forward?

"Hmph."
The Leomon saw the fox launched back, but rather than pursue the assault, the lion simply kept his position, blade in hand. The fox managed to get right back up to her feet, but what was she honestly supposed to do in this sort of spar? If nothing else, she was tenacious, a confident and warrior-like look in her eyes. And that rush of energy earlier definitely proved that the fox had promise.
However... it didn't take long after that for the Leomon to simply sheathe his weapon. "You have grit, but not the barest bit of practice as to how to approach me. Your last strike left your head completely open - how do you think that would have went if I didn't treat this as a spar?"
He was clearly annoyed, the Leomon not even so much as winded from the Renamon's effort. Level differences aside, her tactics were clearly lacking.

The fox's ears flicked as she heard that somewhat dissapointed grunt from the leomon. The renamon shifted a touch nervously and huffed in irritation, more at herself than anything else. What exactly could she do given the level difference? Would it even matter if he was rookie? Would the results be the same, when he put his weapon away Silence blinked slowly.
"...Poorly. I'd probably be dead by now."
The renamon shook her head, he wasn't wrong in that regard. To be honest she didn't have much in the way of practice, she had after all only went after this recently and was still very young. Though this did raise the question of how she did a few of the earlier things. The blade, the signal... and wherever that voice or the grit came from.
"I suppose I need to practice more before I even really attempt this again."
Though even as she said that, her stance didn't waiver and the renamon glanced down at one of her hands. That tingling sensation from the blade being drawn was still there; a small frown creasing her lips after a few moments.
"What would you recommend?"

"Hm."
She definitely understood her situation: no excuses, no shortcuts, acknowledging her own inexperience and weakness. To that, at least, the Leomon was able to give a nod - despite her amateur state, she was willing to learn and grow in this environment. And for now, that was enough.
Even as Silence was battered, the Leomon managed a small smirk: "Its simple. Keep coming back here. Practice your blade, your techniques, until you can use them without thinking - and more importantly, watch the other matches around here. Get an idea of how to carry yourself, and try to put yourself in the position of the fighter most like you. Think about what you would do - and see what they do, instead."

There was no such thing as a shortcut for this.
Silence knew this in her bones, it just wouldn't be the same if she took any. The renamon shifted her stance a little bit as the spar seemed to wind down considering her state of things and the fact that she had asked for advice.
Keep coming back.
Practice her blade, her techniques.
And how to use them without thinking.
She felt she could do the first three fairly easily, she wasn't sure about t he final one. She'd tilt her head slightly as he continued to explain. For her to get an idea of how to carry herself and how to put herself in the place of the fighter most like her. She'd have to snoop around and watch; learn from watching and then by doing...
"All right sir. I'll give that a go."
A week passed...
Practice, constant practice. Her watching the other fighters like a hawk to figure out which one was most like her. She found a surprising amount of comfort knowing that she could keep up with watching most fights as they progressed, sure she might not be as fast as the participants themselves but she could at least see what they were doing even if they were out of her level.
Her techniques.
Her movement.
Her blade.
Each was important and she pushed herself, she bled, she broke, but most importantly she kept growing. Putting actual time into the practice, rather than a few hours here or there was something that made her develop rapidly. Rather than in small spurts she practically leaped from her starter position.
Her prior iteration had worked a lot into her system and it's potential was untapped up until she was pushed for it. It bled into everything she did now, and it was strange. Like a hand guiding her in some places, like her body was moving of it's own accord. But it also taught her how to move when it didn't.
Today was the second assessment.
Her stance differed greatly, her blade differed greatly. It didn't look like it was waivering or waving in any way. Straight edged pulsing with a hearty beat much like her core. Her eyes steeled for this, she'd slide to widen her stance and with a sweep of her sword...
A wave of samey colored energy launched from the tip of the blade right at her sparring partner!

One week later.
One impressive week, where Silence proved that she was here for the long haul. She kept at it: long hours of training and practice, refining her movement, learning more about her blades. Nightly ice packs pressed up against the battered fox's back by Gazi, while Gato looked on in slight concern. And an attention to other spars and fights that proved that the Renamon knew what to look for, and was serious about how to compensate for her weaknesses.
It didn't take long for her to reach her second assessment, and unlike before, the Leomon started the bout with his blade in hand, knowing that he couldn't treat Silence lightly anymore. Her approach was far more practiced, and as the spar started, the Leomon was forced to give a slash of his own blade, splintering the energy arc in half, without Silence losing any ground in the exchange - not that the Leomon was going to leave it like that. Rather than use his strongest technique off the bat again, he instead aimed a single palm forward, and sent out a concussive blast in the Renamon's direction:
"Shockwave!"
If it caught the fox off guard, like last time, it would easily be enough to blow her off her feet - but in either case, the lion would tense and sprint forward, intent on cutting the distance between them!

Honestly the week had been somewhat of a surprise to her. Sure there was a lot of pain, there was a lot of learning curves. Her parents were worried for her but she honestly felt the best while doing this sort of thing. It sang right with her really. The renamon picking up on things that took others much longer to do so.
She knew that the leomon would take her seriously this time around, the blade in his hand was a good indicator of that. So when he slashed her energy arc in half and then tried to hit her with a ranged attack of her own... Well. Silence found herself bracing for the inevitable shockwave, it did launch her off of her feet but unlike last time her movements were controlled. Her briskly landing on her feet while using the backwards momentum to slide away from the leomon her blade coming up in another slash which made another wave of energy leap forth.
Yes he could close the distance, he was faster than her. But as long as she peppered him from a range and kept that range in some semblance she'd be okay. His reach was better than hers in a physical sense and he was physically stronger than her so... Keeping to that would keep her mostly safe. She felt an odd twitch somewhere though, something distracting. Marvelously distracting... kind of like the first time she got hit by that beast king punch...

The Leomon could no longer treat Silence like a novice.
She'd learned a lot over the last week - and right now, she held herself well. Keeping her distance from the lion, using both her movement and long ranged efforts to try and peck away from the warrior at afar. Simple wide slashes like that were still simple enough for the lion to cut through, but she at least understood that she had a slight advantage at range.
Alright. So it was time to up the ante. The Leomon grit his teeth, and continued his sprint straight for the Renamon, this time intent on using their level difference to make it so the Renamon simply couldn't slip away! Even if he took a strike or two, he'd try and put himself right up in the fox's face, intent on charging his shoulder right up against her. What would she do here?
How would she handle an infighter?

Silence's eye's narrowed lightly as the leomon cut through another slash of hers. It was frustrating that he could do it so reliably but... That also meant he was wasting energy and giving her time wasn't it? The renamon bouncing lightly on her feet as the other seemed to consider something.
Then he sprinted straight at her, the level difference proving to be hard for her to slip away from. The sheer speed difference in champion, coupled with longer legs made it so that the leomon bore down upon her. The renamon unable to really get out of the way, she could see the shoulder bearing down upon her and she felt her body act on it's own.
Sure the shoulder hit her right where he wanted it to. She felt that sting but her body slid right through the leomon's legs and she felt her blade come up to slash at either of his legs as she traveled through. At the other side she'd grab at his tail to yank herself up and turn lightly on her feet. She wanted to rub at her face as it hurt quite a bit! But she had to focus on the matter at hand...
