Cold like brrrrrrr.....[Takahiro Minami]

Elson was curious. Digimon were strange creatures, but could anyone actually live here? Okay, that was not very smart. On the real world people lived in far worse conditions. Still... Elson took a look at his partner. Being a machine, it seemly didn`t feel cold. Suddenly Elson sneezed. The green slime flew from his nose into his partner, which seemed really confused.
"My general, I din`t know humans could use attacks like digimon. What is that one called?" Silversteamdramon asked him
"It`s not na attack." Elson replied a little anoyed by the change in his voice. "I think I caught a cold. It`s no wonder with the temperatures like this... Damm, I can`t see anything with this blizzard."
"Throw me up, my general." The machine suggested "My eyes are laser, so I should be able to see better than you from above, even with all this snow blocking the view."
Elson guessed it was worth the try. He picked up Silversteamdramon and throwed him up like a child. He then stepped back before the digimon fel, to avoid getting hit in the head by a falling metallic dragon with a sword on it`s back.
"So, did you find anything usefull?" Elson asked before sneezing again.
"A village my general. Not very far away from here, just a little more walking. It is however, a little odd..."
"With what I have seen so far, I would say there is nothing here that isn`t."
"Except for humans, my general?"
"Nope. We`re still hanging out with you, so I guess we ain`t exactly normal either. Let`s get moving. Na odd village is better than no village, especially since if I caught a cold I...I..." Elson sneezed before continuing " I`m gonna need a fire and some hot soup. The one kingchessmon gave us is frozen now."
They both kept walking with just a brief look behind them.

Not far behind Elson and Silversteamdramon, another human and digimon were trudging along in the snow. They had not said anything to each other for ages, at least not since this horrific blizzard started blowing cold wind and ice in their faces. However, after finally gathering enough courage to do so, Ryu finally spoke. "Taka, I don't mean to be rude or anything, but do you finally agree with me that this was a bad idea?"
"Shut up Ryu, don't rub it in," Takahiro yelled, barely managing to overpower the sound of the blizzard sweeping across the icy plains they were trying to cross. For some reason, Elson and Silversteamdramon had stopped. Takahiro saw them talking about something before Elson picked his partner up and threw him in the air. "What the hell are those two doing over there?" he thought out loud, picking up the pace in order to try to catch up with the others.
"I think I sense some digimon nearby," Ryu suddenly said, startling Takahiro. "I thought you were behind me; could you not do that again? Anyway, what kind of digimon and where?"
Ryu starting moving ahead of Takahiro, only looking behind him to answer his tamer's question. "There's a large number of digimon over there; it could be a village of sorts," he said. "Elson and Silversteamdramon must have detected it too somehow, as they are headed straight for it. Come on!"
Takahiro hesitated for a bit before matching Ryu's pace. How could they be sure it wasn't a trap? After all, their current location did seem like a fairly odd place to build a village. Then again, even if it wasn't a village, there would still be a chance that the digimon Ryu had sensed were friendly and they could get directions or even supplies. His thought process was interrupted by a loud sneeze. Takahiro looked at his arm, which had a nice drop of green slime hanging from it now. "Oh great, just what I needed..."

Like Silversteamdramon had said it was not long until they got to the "village". It was an opening on the side of the mountain they were in, with a wooden gate barring the entrance of both them and the snow. Hopefully it also shielded the village from the cold. Elson snizzed again. The wooden gates reminded him of the castle in the server woods, wheer kingchessmon inhabited. In fact, if was not mistaken, this was Snowflake Village, about which kingchessmon told Elson about. He knocked, trembling with the cold of the falling snow from the blizzard. The door opened. Behind it was a big, round, bear-like digimon. It was white with tiny black eyes and had what seemed to be red buttons on it`s belly. It looked like a giant white Christmas cookie or a bear-like snowman. "Hi, my name is Frigimon. And you are?" The digimon asked "My name is Elson is this is Silversteamdramon. Not far behinds us...." Elson was saying when he sneezed "I am sorry, I caught a cold. Not far behind us are Takahiro and Ryu. Here they are. Can we come in, its really cold out here." "Oh dears, please come in!" Frigimon replied, opening the door further and making them a sign to come in. "Don`t cal us that!" Silversteamdramon complained "Silversteamdramon! Watch your manners! I`m so..." Elson began and he sneezed once more "so sorry." "It`s okay, we also have rude people here. I`ll take you to the Salty Glacier so you can get some rest. Those mountain blizzards are mercyless. Then, you can tell us what your purpose here is and maybe later you can come over to the kindergarten and telll the children about your adventures! You had adventures, right? Every human that was here before had some kind of adventure, but sometimes you people underate them." Elson and Silversteamdramon looked around. All the digimon around there were a bit discolored, probably due to the cold, but they saw no children, in fact everyone there looked quite aggressive. General and digimon both had trouble picturing children in that eviroment and did quite understand the need for strangers to entertain them, if there was any there. No one in there seemed capable of telling tales to the children without causing them nightmares. "Thank...Thank you." Elson thanked with another sneeze "It`s fine, really. And in the meantime we should get you some soup, you both seem to have a pretty bad cold there." The frigimon told them.

(OOC: Sorry for the slow reply, I've been a little busy lately.)
The Frigimon guarding the entrance to the village had already opened the wooden gates by the time Takahiro and Ryu finally got there. Elson and Silversteamdramon were already following the Frigimon, who waved the rest of the group to follow her as well. Takahiro picked up the pace, even though he knew his legs couldn't take much more. Ryu looked around the town, finally saying something to try to lighten the walk to wherever the ice digimon was taking them. "Interesting, this village seems to be built in this exact spot to minimize the effects of the snowstorms and the cold wind."
"Probably, but I'm not in the mood for discussing this with you now Ryu. Let's just get inside somewhere," Takahiro replied, focused on not letting the Frigimon and the others out of sight. They finally arrived at the entrance to an inn, the Salty Glacier. The group went inside and got assigned one large room after the Frigimon had talked to the owner of the inn. Once inside their room, Takahiro set down his bag of supplies and lay down on what appeared to be a bed, not even having the energy to think about the logic of this place having regular beds.
"Well, these aren't going to be of much further use," Ryu suddenly said, looking through the bag of supplies they received back in the Server Woods. "Are you telling me I've hauled all those things all the way here for nothing?" Takahiro shouted in return.
Ryu never liked it when his tamer got angry for no apparent reason, so he decided to avoid fueling the fire by commenting on his behavior. "This food is all either frozen or just plain inedible, as are most of the supplies in here. The only things we can make use of are these blankets and these coals."
"We might be able to trade these for food or something with a higher resistance to the cold," Takahiro replied, getting ready to exit the room. However, Ryu stepped right into his path and stopped him. "What you need to do now is rest; I will see if I can trade these things with anyone."

Elson laid down in his bed with another sneeze. He looked at Takahiro: he seemed exausted. Maybe they shouldn`t have walked that far, or he should have gone to the Southern tropics with Ryu. Well, there was no use to cry over spilled milk. "Thank you for this." He said to the frigimon. "You`re welcome darlings. It`s just like that little guy over there said: you need some rest. I`m gonna get you some soup." she replied. "I will go with you Ryu, if my general is okay with that." Silversteamdramon proposed. "Sure, have fun." Elson answered. Silversteamdramon got out and went after Ryu without hearing anything else. They tried firstly the markets. At first people we`re not very interested in trading anything, but they found a snowagumon that seemed willing. "My dad, snowgreymon is always hungry. His birthday is soon, and I wanted to give him something. Then maybe he will stop saying that celebrating birthdays is stupid and that it is not for digimon. You guys hang around with humans, right? Are they stupid, like my dad says?" "Never. Humans are really smart, especially my general." Silversteamdramon replied. It shivered, almost hearing Elson`s voice in the wind telling him to be modest. "Okay, they are smart and other are dumb and my general is smart. Now what are you willing to trade for this food?" "Really? I knew it! They`re birthday thing can`t be stupid if they aren`t. But, name your price. I can give anything but food, unless you like vegetables. They are warm and taste wrong, but humans always were a bit weird anyway."

With both Takahiro and Elson staying behind at the inn, it was up to Ryu and Silversteamdramon to trade for supplies. The digimon in the market seemed more interested in selling their own wares than trading though, so it took a while before the two digimon finally stumbled on someone who didn't outright reject their trade offer. The SnowAgumon did have something to say about humans though.
"Don't make assumptions based on what others say. I've found my time around Taka and Elson quite...agreeable," Ryu said to him, which combined with Silversteamdramon's comment convinced the SnowAgumon to do business with them, as long as said business wasn't buying food from him.
Ryu turned towards Silversteamdramon and spoke."We only have a limited amount of things to sell, so we should pick carefully." He then pointed towards two strange-looking things made from some sort of fabric. "Those look like some sort of coats, probably imitated from what other humans wore when passing through here. We need those if we want Elson and Takahiro to survive these frigid winds and snowstorms."
He turned his attention back to the SnowAgumon, not making their intention clear immediately but rather looking around a bit more before speaking again. "Say, how much do you want for those two leather 'coats' over there?"
The SnowAgumon's eyes lit up slightly. He may have only been a lowly merchant, but he clearly wasn't stupid. "Those are rare items, I'm not actually sure I want to part with those unless you offer me all the food you have in there plus those coals you're holding. My dad's fireplace could use some more of those."
Ryu wanted to comment on the idiocy of a Greymon needing coals to light a fire, but managed to restrain himself in time. "Fine, it's a deal," he replied as the two coats landed on top of him. The SnowAgumon quickly carted off with the group's former supplies and didn't say another word.

"Agreed." Silversteamdramon replied to Ryu`s comment on being carefull Silversteamdramon was starting to think Ryu wouldn`t make up his mind about negotiating with the snowagumon or not when two coats seemly caught his eye. Silversteamdramon didn`t understand the problem non-machine digimon and the humans had against low temperatures, but he supposed it was one of those misteries of life. And according to Ry, his general would be pleased therefore there should be no problem, right? But then came the snowagumon`s offer, which was more of a robbery than a trade. "You have to be joking! All this food AND the coals just for 2 COATS? They could be gold I would never..." Silversteamdramon began to complain when Ryu, who seemed to ignore Silversteamdramon, took the offer. "That was a robbery. Hardly an equivalent. We should go back beat that snowagumon until he gave it all back plus a compesation for the trouble and the offense. Ryu, are you even listening?" Silverteamdramon kept complainint as they were returning to their partners.
In the meaningwhile, Elson and Takahiro had been attended very nicely by the frigimon. Her soup was terrific compared to the crappy supplies the kingchessmon had supplied and somehow it managed to help with their cold.
"I wish I knew how Silversteamdramon and Ryu are doing... But still this place seems nice, especially if they let us stay here. But they siad something about telling their children a tale... Do we have something to tell them? I mean this is all very impressive, but this is their world... how can we know what is impressive for them? What do you think Takahiro"

Once the deal had been done, Silversteamdramon couldn't seem to stop complaining about the deal. Ryu chose to ignore him, knowing that starting an argument with the metal digimon was an exercise in futility. Besides, he wasn't even entirely sure he did the right thing by putting the safety of the humans above their other needs such as food and supplies to make their journey easier.
They started walking back towards the inn, not having any more goods to trade. Out of nowhere, Ryu decided to answer Silversteamdramon's question after all. "We're not here to start a fight; we just came here to trade for basic supplies. These coats will keep our partners warm and alive; does your general's life actually mean anything to you at all?"
Ryu was shocked by what he just said; this wasn't like him at all. "Apologies, that didn't quite come out the way I wanted to, of course you care about Elson."
Back at the inn, Takahiro was sitting on his bed, ferociously eating the soup the Frigimon served them. He wasn't sure if this was the best soup he'd ever had, even better than his own mother's, or if it had been such a long time since he last ate a hot meal. Before he had time to think it over, Elson asked him a question.
"This place does indeed seem nice, almost too nice actually. I honestly don't know about the children's story, I'm not very good with kids as I am an only child..." Takahiro said as his thoughts drifted away towards home. He wondered how his parents were doing, especially considering he had been in the digital world for what seemed like an eternity now. His thoughts were interrupted by the door cracking, followed by Ryu and Silversteamdramon walking through it with the two coats they bought.

Silversteamdramon was shocked by Ryu's response, but it couldn't show emotion. It had to look as mechanic as possible.
"Elson is a great general. He is usefull and he is strong. I don't doubt he is strong enought to resist the cold for a long time. But I can't feel, so if you say it's too cold for them, I will take your word. Let's go in." Silversteamdramon finnaly responded. And they did.
"Hey guys, how did it go?" Elson asked greeting them.
"Fine, my general but the merchants are greedy. We barely managed to get these coats, and even that we only managed thanks to Ryu's patience."
"Well, I guess it's better than nothing... But this people asked us to tell our "adventures" as a tale for their children. Ideas?"

"We should probably avoid telling the truth about our adventures in the forest, I don't think they would appreciate us telling them how we caused a massive forest fire and made a king give us supplies," Ryu said in response to Elson's question. "If anything, you humans should tell them about your world. I don't think they have ever heard a story with a setting like that. Oh, these are for you by the way," he continued as he gave Takahiro and Elson the coats they bought earlier.
Takahiro smiled as he took the coat from his partner. "Sweet, these should definitely help us survive those blizzards. They don't look like much, but I suppose they will have to do. What else did you get?"
Ryu looked away before speaking again. "Well, we traded all of our wares for these..." Surprised and maybe a little bit annoyed by his partner's answer, he yelled at him. "You what? I thought you were supposed to be a smart digimon? How could you possibly think that bartering ALL of our goods for two mere coats was a good idea?"
Still facing away from his partner, Ryu replied in an incredibly cold tone, not unlike Silversteamdramon's default tone of voice. "Just think for a minute, Taka. What good are food and other supplies if you die from the cold?"
"I suppose you're right again, Ryu. Sorry for doubting your decision, I do that sometimes..." Takahiro said with a calm voice, getting off his bed and walking towards his partner before turning his head towards the others. "Now let's go find some children to share our stories of the human world with!"

"Alright..." Elson agreed with Ryu "But what should we say then?" He listened to the digimon`s proposal and nodded. It seemed acceptable. However Takahiro`s reaction to Ryu product exchange made Elson jump of the bed. Takahiro was not like that. It seemed to aggressive for him. "Takahiro are you ok? I mean, I have to agree, it was a sloppy trade, but if the merchants were the way Silversteamdramon described, then I doubt they could anything beyond this, and they were lucky to manage SOMETHING... you have admit, if our supplies were useless to us, perhaps they are almost as useless to everyone else around here." Ryu also responded to his partner in a tone similar to SIlversteamdramon`s which earned the machine na angry look from Elson. Silversteamdramon had stayed still up to then, but it didn`t hesitate to whisper something on Ryu`s ear: "We shouldn`t be disrespectfull of our human partners. We can`t talk back to them..." After this Takahiro came to his senses. He decided it was time to go. They got out of the room to find Frigimon outside. "Is everything alright? I heard some shouting from outside." the digimon asked "Yes, of course, there is no reason to worry about. We just got a bad deal out of the trading, but we sorted it out. A moment ago you mencioned you wanted us to tell about our "adventures" to your children. If you still want it, we were heading off there right now." Elson replied "Sure, let`s go. Follow me..." They followed the Frigimon into a sort of igloo with a kind of kindergarten inside. In-training and fresh digimon filled the floor from tip to tip and sucked on white ice bottles. Here and there one could see a few rookies playing too and in the corner a wolf like digimon. "Children, where are your manners? Don`t you see Miss Frigimon is here." the wolf digimon replied "Hello Miss Frigimon." The children said in a chore turning to the Frigimon "Hello darlings, and thank you Garurumon. Today I brought you some visitors. They`re two humans and their digimon. Please say hello to Elson, Takahiro, Ryu and Silversteamdramon. They will be telling you of their adventures in your storytime." the frigimon replied "Hello" The children said again. "You see Elson? She calls children "darlings" and us too doesn`t that imply she thinks we are children?" Silversteamdramon whispered to Elson. "No, it means she treats everyone the same way." Elson answered "But..." the machine began "No "but". Now say hello, we`re looking stupid here. Hi kids!" the human insited "Hello." Silversteamdramon said in a cold, creepy way. After that they were asked to look after the children for a bit while "story time" didn`t come and so they could get used to the children. It didn`t work with Elson and much with Silversteamdramon as they simply couldn`t get it. Elson didn`t get children and Silversteamdramon didn´t get emotion. One time the children took Elson`s fusion loader and hide it. When he found out they made him do a series of embarrising stuff before they told where they did, and it wasn`t in a pleasent place. Garurumon had a lot of laughter out of this, like if he didn`t get how serious it was that these children were STEALING. Finnaly Frigimon returned and the young digimon sat all around Elson, Silversteamdramon, Takahiro and Ryu. Elson decided to take the leap of faith and begin talking. "Ok, ok you had your share of fun, now maybe you can have fun hearing us. So, did you kids ever hear about the human world?" "Yes! That`s what every human that passes here begins by talking about! Tell something interesting we heard everything about the human world...." one of the children screamed "Yeah, tell us about your adventures here! Who did you fight?" another one replied Elson was shocked. This children would not fall for simple tricks... "Guys, I think we have a problema here..." he whispered to the rest of the group.

After the Frigimon had escorted them to the igloo and they had been given time to get to know these kids, the time had come for the group to tell their story. Takahiro wasn't very comfortable around these children, and he could see that neither Elson nor his partner were particularly enthusiastic about it either, especially after Elson finally got his fusion loader back. In fact, the only one who seemed sort of at ease was Ryu, even though he didn't as much as crack a smile while playing with the children.
Takahiro breathed a sigh or relief when Elson broke the ice and initiated storytelling time. He had wanted to do this himself, but standing up to get the children's attention would give some bratty digimon the opportunity to take the digivice or D-Terminal in his back pockets. Both Takahiro and Ryu were utterly surprised when they found out the children didn't want to hear anything about the human world and Elson commented that they were in trouble now. "I guess our plan isn't going to be of much use now is it?" Ryu remarked.
"We've got to tell these kids something don't we? To be honest this place is making me feel more uncomfortable with every passing second," Takahiro whispered in Elson's ear in such a way that no-one could hear or see him do it.
Ryu looked at the shocked faces of the humans. It was unlikely that Silversteamdramon would have anything useful to say in this situation, so he decided to speak before matters could get worse. "Listen, children. These humans are very special, I don't think you've heard a story that's anything like what you're about to hear." He waited a few seconds before telling the kids a white lie. "Besides, I don't think a story about their time in the digital world would interest you. Most of the time we've been wandering through towns, forests and ice fields, right Taka?"
"R..Right, there's nothing special about our time here..." Takahiro stumbled, giving Ryu an angry look for his well-meant setup that obviously didn't work out very well. The children started booing the pair, making the two of them even more uncomfortable. It wasn't until the Garurumon intervened that the little brats finally shut their mouths. "Silence!" he roared, upon which all fresh and in-training digimon ceased all activity.

The situation didn`t seem bright. The children kept complaining and despite Takahiro`s and Ryu`s best attempts, they ended up booing them rather than listening. In middle of the mess a birght idea came to Elson. He called aside Silversteamdramon. When the Garurumon managed to shut the little pests with a roar, general and partner put their plan to practice. Elson could see that Takahiro and Ryu were nervous too, but Silversteamdramon was great representative of what he was: a machine. It stood again started speaking instead of Elson, in a mechanical voice: "Ok, you want a tale? I`ll give you a tale. You may have heard of the human world, and likely people told you about the amazing falls, the tal buildings, the..." "Move on with that!" one of the young digimon shouted. A glare from the Garurumon was all it took for the child to sit back down and let Silversteamdramon continue. "Thanks...As I was saying, you might have heard of all that, but I bet you didn`t hear about the brutal side of it... Giants who assault those weaker than them, people who have the power to command people and have them do whatever they want. WHATEVER THEY WANT. But there are brave people, like my general and Takahiro who are brave enought to face such dangers. Without help. My general once drew a sword just like the one in my back and stabbed a giant who was trying to throw a river at them..." Elson laughed inside. The children were amazed by what Silversteamdramon was saying, not even realizing his simple plan. Silversteamdramon was machine therefore it would not show emotion at all. Which ment, the children would never realise it was lying. Well, not lying, exagerating the truth. Elson had told him about his early days when he was bullyed and the day he stabbed a bully who was trying to drown him with a kitchen knife. But the young digimon thought they knew it all about the human world, but hadn`t began to scratch the surfasse, which ment that they would buy anything Silversteamdramon told them. If anyone else was saying it, they would liely have figured out that person was lying, but Silversteamdramon was the perfect lier. And it kept on, telling them about how they saved a restaurant from evil digimon in the day they met, and the restaurant was so gratefull that they didn`t have to pay... how Prophetmon had travelled for ages just to try to have them help him, because they were "true heroes". How they defeated 3 "foul beasts" and earned the favor of a king who gave them supplies because they had sacrificed theirs to put out the fires of the servers woods, saving them and their inhabitants. How decided to face the mountains to become stronger... By the end of it the kids were super excited. In fact it was supposed to be their nap time , but the Garurumon decided to delay it and excort the them out of the igloo. "Quite a show you put there...but I bet it wasn`t COMPLETLY true, was it?" the Garurumon asked. "Yeah, how did you know?" Silversteamdramon asked. The Garurumon didn`t answer, but his back on them and went back inside with a smile, barely containing the children trying to exit the igloo to ask them questions. "We`d better get going." Elson commented

Takahiro and Ryu both seemed at a loss what to do, but thankfully Silversteamdramon came to their rescue and started telling the kids exactly what they wanted to hear: an action-packed story of their adventures in the digital world. Of course the machine digimon was exaggerating every single word of it, but it was a very clever tactic nonetheless. Neither Takahiro nor Ryu spoke again until they were back outside the building.
"I'm glad we're finally out of there. Thanks Silversteamdramon, this visit would have ended in disaster if it wasn't for you," Takahiro said, smiling towards the metal digimon that was Elson's partner. "Also, I agree. We should get out of here before something before we cause any more commotion," he continued, simultaneously responding to Elson's inquiry.
"Going where exactly? If you're still intent on heading to this Frozen Mausoleum place, we should probably consider finding some way to get additional supplies, especially food," a worried-looking Ryu added to the conversation.
Takahiro carefully thought about his response for once, knowing that he was walking on thin ice concerning the subject he was about to bring up again. "You're probably right, but did you forget that you spent all of our tradable goods to get those coats?" Ryu looked towards his partner, aware of the fact that his partner chose his words carefully and still didn't agree with the decision. "I am, hence me speaking of 'some way' rather than trading. Does anyone have any bright ideas?"

Silversteamdramon was proud of itself. Pulling that trick off was a task well performed for his general. But Silversteamdramon knew Elson only tasked him with it because Silversteamdramon didn`t show emotion. And it had to keep on like that. The wandered off, with Takahiro and Ryu discussing where to go. Unfortunatly they had no supplies now. And the options were cut off too: no one seemed to need extra workers, they were in no state to go out without supplies, they had nothing to trade for supplies and none of the digimon in there (apart from Frigimon) seemed kind enought to even LEND them something. Judging from their children, they would also not be fooled easily. Elson felt himself getting nervous, the cold seemed more intense. His stomach was spinning not because of hunger or pain, or wounds, but because of what he was about to suggest.
"Takahiro..." Elson said taking a deep breath before continuing "I think...I think we`re gonna have to steal supplies."
Silversteamdramon didn`t even react. It saw no harm in it, except they would have to either be extremly cunning or extremly strong to managed to do such a feat.
