Shout, Shout, Let It All Out

It had been four days since the encounter Shoutmon had had with Leith Crowler, another Tamer that he and his partner Adrian had been friends with. In that encounter, Leith had told Shoutmon that he had given up being a Tamer and that he abandoned his partners, most likely without their consent. The only thing Leith told Shoutmon about his Digimon's whereabouts is that they were in Rosewood. So of course, Shoutmon immediately took off to find them.
However, it seemed that the two of them had both left Rosewood, so Leith's information was already immediately outdated. Almost thinking he had no hope, he remembered that he gave Red, Leith's Shoutmon, a D-Terminal for Christmas. He went on Tamernet and messaged him, asking where Red was.
FOUR DAYS pass by, with Shoutmon growing more and more annoyed with each day that passed without a response. "God dammit, Red, just answer... it's not that hard," Shoutmon grumbled to himself as he would stare at theD-Terminal.
Finally, after a "lovely" conversation with Red, he told Shoutmon that he was in Snowflake Village, which was in the Northern Prominence of the Digital World. Going solo, Shoutmon took a Trailmon all the way to Snowflake Village.
Upon arrival, Shoutmon took note of how snowy and cold the town truly was. Being a fire type Digimon, he had no problems with keeping himself warm, but he still didn't necessarily enjoy the cold. Logically, Shoutmon first checked the inn of Snowflake, because he heard it had a bar. Surprisingly, Red wasn't there.
"Seriously...?" Shoutmon couldn't help but say out loud. Shoutmon decided to ask some of the locals if they had seen an organic Shoutmon at all, and thankfully a helpful Frigimon told him that they saw a Shoutmon just like that at the park.
The park in the middle of winter... in Snowflake.
Yep, that's definitely him.
The red dragon Digimon made his way over to said park. From there he saw a familiar red Shoutmon doing whatever the heck he was doing at that moment in time. "Red? That's you, right?"

One Shoutmon had definitely identified the other correctly, and that was just about the only good news from the whole thing. The bad news? He was on the ground, on his side, not moving. What happened? Well, it definitely wasn't an accident. That was apparent from the fact that most of the snow below and around him had been cleared out to reveal grass underneath it. Someone had dug out this little space for Shoutmon, or maybe he did it himself. Either way, there were no apparent injuries or sign of sickness that Adrian's Shoutmon could spot, but all he could really see was the face. Under a very, very heavy blanket, Shoutmon shivered. Maybe it wasn't quite heavy enough.
His eyes were closed, but his chest still heaved under the blanket. He was breathing, slowly but surely. Unconscious? No, just asleep. That was apparent when he stirred in answer to the other Shoutmon's call, groaning and rolling his eyes under their lids. But before he could fully rise, both Shoutmons might have caught a voice from behind them. "Sir, it's getting late, and you can't sleep here," barked and IceLeomon coming up the path. "You should get inside." Somehow this lion man didn't look cold at all even without a shirt, but what was real important was his waistband: there was a badge attached to his belt, that of the local constabulary.
"Hrrrrrrrrrng."
"You can't sleep in the park!" As the lion finally got close, he addressed Adrian's Shoutmon instead. "Do you two know each other?"
Finally, Shoutmon managed to roll beneath his blanket and rub his poor sleepy eyes. Actually, he found he had to pry them open; some fluid just outside the eyelid had frozen them shut. It just took a little pull to get them open again, at which point he still didn't look much more aware. His head wasn't very stable on his shoulders as he was barely able to make eye contact with his lookalike through eyes that looked about ready to close again. Through shivers and stutters, he greeted the other Shoutmon with a simple, "...s-s-s-s-s-s-sup?"

When Shoutmon did find Red in the park, it wasn't what he was picturing Red to be doing. The organic Shoutmon was laying on his side in a little space of grass among the snow, with nothing but a cheap blanket on him. Shoutmon's eyes widened as he ran up to his friend to check on him. It wasn't a normal thing, seeing someone lying in the snow like this.
At least Red didn't look injured or sick at all when Shoutmon knelt down to check on him, at least no visible signs of injury or illness that he could see. Why was he doing this? There was an inn in town, was Red out of bits? Was he doing this out of spite? Whatever the case may have been, it upset Shoutmon. Before he could wake Red up however, an IceLeomon walked up to them.
How is he not cold yet? Shoutmon couldn't help but think to himself when he saw the Digimon walking around without a shirt. He apparently had a problem with Red sleeping in the snow, but for much different reasons than Shoutmon had. The IceLeomon's badge on his belt definitely caught his eye. He looked over at Shoutmon after yelling at Red and asking if they knew each other.
"Yeah, we know each other, officer," Shoutmon told the constable. "I'll get him out of here and into an inn. Don't worry."
After IceLeomon left, Red began to roll over and open his eyes. He was definitely shivering as he spoke to Shoutmon, and he knew that Red couldn't stay here. He grabbed onto Red and helped him onto Shoutmon's shoulders before walking back to the inn with him.
Immediately Shoutmon would gently place Red beside the nearest fire at the inn, placing the blanket from before on top of him as well. From there, he would simply wait until Red was warm and awake again.

The Leomon huffed and looked down on the pair, but from the way these two acknowledged each other, the more lucid Shoutmon was probably telling the truth. The lion allowed one to take the other away without objection.
Shoutmon, on the other hand, did object. "Hey... hey! I c-c-an w-walk just f-f-f-fine!" The less metallic Shoutmon tried to flail and struggle after being loaded onto his lookalike's back, but it sure didn't get him anywhere. His resistance was much too weak to give Adrian's Shoutmon much trouble; it was easy to keep the petulant drake in place. A combination of fatigue, cold, and lethargy kept him from putting up too much of a fight.
"You know what? You're a d-d-d-d-d-d-" This time Shoutmon seemed to have particular trouble getting the word out. The heat of a fire at first only emphasized how cold he really was. He had almost gone numb earlier, but now? Now the feeling was returning. His teeth were chattering faster than the double bass of his old band's quickest-tempo song. He had to shake his head hold his jaw in place with a hand in order to talk clearly. "You're a dick." It seemed he wasn't very grateful for the other one's help. "I was f-f-fine without you. I could'a taken him, y'kn-kn-kn-know." A fresh champion level cop against Shoutmon, in his state? Fat chance.
"Why'd you come looking for me?" Despite his clear displeasure at actually needing help from someone else... he also hugged the blanket into himself real tight and scooted good and close to that hot fire. "Is h-h-h-h-he looking for me?" Shoutmon didn't elaborate on who "he" was. Maybe he expected his counterpart to already know. Either way, in an instant Shoutmon's expression flashed. His feelings poked out of their withdrawn shell for a second, showing... hope? Longing? Either way, blink and one might miss it, but for a tenth of a second Shoutmon didn't look angry. He just looked... kind of pathetic.

Shoutmon let out a sigh of relief when the IceLeomon just walked away without anymore questions asked. It was good that the IceLeomon believed him, so there shouldn't be any problems from the law enforcement in Snowflake Village unless Red decided to barge into a random house and sleep there. It happened more often than one would think in the Digital World.
Red did not seem to care for Shoutmon trying to save his life. When he lifted Red onto his shoulders, the organic Shoutmon tried to struggle his way free, but he was far too weak to be able to do anything. Shoutmon simply rolled his eyes at Red's attempt to struggle free.
When Red was placed by the fire and he began to warm up, he was still pissed off, saying he could've taken on the IceLeomon all on his own. This was of course false. "You should be glad I'm trying to save your life at all. In your state I could beat you as a Koromon."
Red asked why Shoutmon went looking for him. In response, Shoutmon simply said the truth. "I was worried. About both you and Veemon. I ran into Leith back in the human world and he told me everything. I'll admit, it took all of my willpower to not punch Leith afterwards. I went to Rosewood to find you guys but the city was huge. I'm glad I messaged you on Tamernet, otherwise..."
Otherwise he could have died, Shoutmon thought to himself. And it was my fault Leith decided to...
After a few moments of silence, Shoutmon stood up. "I'm going to get some food and something to drink. Are you hungry, Red? Need me to bring you anything?"

"Hey, hey, I wasn't gonna d-d-d-die!" Shoutmon pushed back, "Ya didn't 'save my life.' I was just... gonna have a really bad night. So I'm a little chilly." For someone who tended to put Number One first, he was oddly nonchalant about his likely restless night. However, there was one need Shoutmon had which fulfilling was a pleasure: food. "Sure, I ain't gonna turn down free food. See if you can grab some hot chocolate... and whatever else you find that's hot."
That all figured, didn't it? The other Shoutmon saw Leith. They argued. Shoutmon came. Leith didn't. Shoutmon didn't answer the question of whether Leith was looking for him, but he could see that pretty plain as day. If Leith wanted him back, he'd be here. "Yo!" Shoutmon called just as his lookalike was about to run off for food, "You see that guy again, feel free to give it to him good. You know where he lives, right? I can remind you if you forgot."

"Oh trust me, you were going to die," Shoutmon said in a matter-of-fact tone to Red. "Your choices were either death or slide evolve into some ice themed Shoutmon, and I'm pretty sure that the latter does not exist yet. Just try to get warm as much as you can."
Before Shoutmon left to get food, Red did ask him to bring back some hot chocolate and anything else that was warm in general. "Heheh... alright, I'll go and get some. Does warm meat apple sound good to ya?"
Then Red told Shoutmon one more thing, this time relating to Leith. He said that the next time Shoutmon saw Leith that he should "give it to him good", in Red's words, even commenting on knowing where he lived. "Even if I really wanted to, imagine if my lady friend found out that I hit some defenseless human. She'd leave me for sure."
After a few minutes or so, Shoutmon came back to Red with a tray. On said tray were two mugs of hot chocolate and two plates of nicely cooked sliced meat apples, drenched in a nice warm golden sauce. "This should be good, hm? Dig in."
