Akemi's question would briefly snap Fiora from her thoughts; glancing in the human girl's direction, and briefly pondering the question. "... We only technically need one subject to study; any additional subjects would be optional. Capture is a reasonable alternative to killing them, if necessary, though." She'd respond, tapping her chin a little. "... From here, our best bet is for you all to either rendezvous with Skadi and Anzu, or for us to wait for them to return with information. Though..."
She would pause, thinking for a second, before continuing. "Though, if the Bleached Digimon in the town are after them, it would be prudent to meet with them, but it also may be unsafe for you humans to exit the train car..." Another brief pause, and a sigh, before Fiora concluded to Akemi with a simple "I'll leave that decision to you all. You know your own capabilities, and their capabilities, better than I."
Then there was Kenny; the tears that she could see building in his eyes with her reassurance making her start a bit. "Ah -" She'd lose a bit of composure; her tone becoming surprised and uncertain. She'd nearly make to apologize to Kenny - thinking that she had upset him in some capacity, but... As the other took a few deep breaths, and spoke, Fiora paused to listen to him; blinking a bit.
She'd remain quiet for a couple moments longer, thinking... Before reaching out, to pat Kenny's shoulder. "You're all working hard; so don't sell yourself short. Even when you're, well, not on the front lines, you're still helping plenty."
"Eheh... Maybe we could go to Whitewater, then?" Cassie suggested, giggling softly at Valt's joking. "I'm sure it'd be nice and warm for you, out there! Lots of open space to swim, too..!" She'd add with a chirp; her wide smile practically audible in her voice. At the mention of Kenny saying hi, though... "Oh! Ooh, put me on speaker for a second, V!"
Assuming that Valt did so, Cassie's voice would chime up as she giggled happily, and called out - from the phone's speakers - "Hiiii Ken-kennn, hiiii everyooone! You guys be safe, too, okay? No getting hurt out there!" She'd briefly giggle once more, from the other end; sounding positively chipper.
Once that was done with, though, Cassie would make an affirmative "Mhmm," in response to Valt's mention of wanting food once he gets home, and reading the report later. "Understood! Message me what you want, okay? Me n' Ophi'll pick up lots of food for you!" She'd state; before concluding to Valt "Love you mooooore, V; bunches and bunches! Be safe, 'n see you soon!"
And with that, it was now just the five of them (six, if they included the Biyomon, which let out a shrill screech at them) once more.
Fiora would glance to Valt as he went over the information they knew, regarding the Hououmon; nodding in confirmation. "It indeed appears to have a high tolerance to pain; allowing it to fight longer and harder than the average digimon of the same stage. As for its attacks...." Fiora would pause for a second, thinking, before mentioning "... It looked like fire, and it acted as if it was fire. However... I have reasons to believe that it's completely Holy damage, otherwise."
...
Starting with Anzu, at the village, though... It seemed that she'd have some good luck, and had decided to move in the nick of time. The DinoTigermon's wandering and stalking of the alleyway was bringing it closer to her hiding spot - the great beast sniffing and glancing about. It'd be pawing at the ground, claws raking shallow lines in the dirt beneath, as though trying to check - and when it came upon where Anzu's previous hiding spot, where her scent was currently strongest...
... It'd snarl, and blast at the spot with another White Storm; kicking up a cloud of dust and smoke!
As Anzu skedaddled, glancing back would only reveal the DinoTigermon standing over where it thought Anzu had been, as the dust settled; snarling, and glancing around once more, though lacking a lead. It was still very possible that it'd find her trail with time; but for now, she was home free.
Then, there was Skadi and the KaiserLeomon on her tail. She still had a beast to lose, but her gambit seemed to do her plenty of favors, as she'd phase into the first building she saw..!
The building in question appeared to be a simple small shop; a candy shop, in fact. Jars of candy sat on the shelves, behind a front counter; a register sitting atop it. Tables out front would have additional displays and jars of candy, as well as bags for people to make their own little grab-bags of candy. A menu, on one of the walls, listed prices for such grab-bags, and today's specials.
Almost depressingly, though... The candy was rather lacking; either looking to be cheap brands, or in low amounts.
It wasn't as though Skadi had much time to partake in the candy, though, as she kept moving. Phasing out of the candy store would bring her to an alleyway - a different one from the one that Anzu and DinoTigermon had been - between it and another building. KaiserLeomon's distant growl could be heard; but it sounded as though that it had lost Skadi's trail, still being at the opposite side of the candy shop.
Would Skadi keep on her current path? Or would she change tactics, now that she had a breather?

Whatever was done to these Digimon managed to make a match between one and a battle-savvy Veemon into one hell of a slugfest, and that...understandably provoked some worry in Akemi. "...Holy damage on top of..." She started, before trailing off. Yeah.
If Anzu had drawn the ire of one of these, she was in definite danger, though Akemi needed to confirm her status first and foremost. "I'll...radio her. We should be ready to try helping them if things are bad in the village..." She looked towards Ryouta. "Though, only if Valt's ready for more."
Luckily, the wolf had managed to get away from DinoTigermon for the moment, after a rather tense minute or two within the alleyway. The tiger was relying on her scent, and it was...particularly strong in the alleyway. She should be there for a bit. The Sangloupmon was focused on putting as much distance between herself and DinoTigermon for the moment, making sure to continue sticking to the shadows in order to maximize the effectiveness of her Shadowform.
She had a clear path in mind, try finding her way out from here and back to Ilbert. Akemi's voice could be heard on the comm-link. "Status?" The brunette's voice inquired. "Alive." Anzu whispered.
"I lost the big cat but...she's got a nose and I suspect she'll be using it. Should I try messing my trail up? I'm heading back to you guys if that's okay--Skadi should be close behind, I think she got the smaller of the two cats..."
"...Don't. You don't need more of them on your tail." Akemi stated.
Well, that settled it. Anzu kept her course steady for the moment. Relevant Passives:
Phantom Blood: When under stealth of any sort, Anzu’s attacks gain an effect called Bloody Wounds, which makes them leave a residual bleed effect that lasts for two posts. It does not stack at all. Shadowform's at 2/3.

Admittedly, Kenny's own condition was way different from the Bleached Digimon, obviously, and considering their alien biology, it was hard to discern what a Digimon's condition was at a glance, but as a kid, many people at primary school, teacher and student alike, treated him as nothing more than a freak that deserved to be shunned and scapegoated. Hell, the 'clever girl' comment that Ryouta rightfully called him out on earlier was more or less personal on his end because he would pretty much give his left arm to have someone like Fiora when he was still a kid. Lost in his own thoughts for a bit, Kenny flinched for a brief moment as he felt a giant bugman hand gently touch his shoulder, before turning his head up to see the Stingmon reassuring him. A small smile started to form across his face, "Thanks Fiora," He sniffled a little as he wiped away a loose tear, "Don't worry about me. I'll be fine. Sorry about that, guys."
Hearing Cassie's voice call out to him and the rest of the group, however, made him feel a bit more chipper inside, chuckling a little at the 'Kenken' nickname. God, Buddha and Arceus bless that little fluffy seal's crazy large heart; no wonder Valt called her just to get a good peptalk from her. That Gomamon X kept taking the cake, the store, and the entire freaking baking industry with her every time she spoke. He gave a happy sigh as he replied, "I will, Cassie. Don't worry."
Maybe after this all blew over, Kenny could ask about joining for a movie night with them when he had the chance. His brief moment of bliss was almost immediately destroyed as the Biyomon let out it's ungodly screech, instinctively covering his ears. Once it was done, he muttered "...Jesus Christ, that was nasty." He was at least thankful that it didn't just up and rupture his eardrums beyond repair. Speaking of Valt, before the young man could answer him, a small ping could be heard echoing around Ilbert, coming from his own D-Nexus. "Hey, I think I got a message here..." He said, pulling it out quickly, before proceeding to give it a read...
Skadi didn't even bother to take a good look at the candy inside the candy store. KaiserLeomon still held a tight, bordering on iron, grip upon her attention as she escaped inside and rushed ahead. If there was any blessing, at least the candy didn't provide her with heavy amounts of information, the diaries already painted a not-quite-pleasant picture on the village's horrid financial straits it was struggling with in the first place. But instinctively, her eyes glanced towards the walls once more, expecting KaiserLeomon to pop out at any moment and keep up the relentless chase. Instinctively, she clenched her palm, as a tiny mote of light could be felt forming in her palm, ready to counter at a moment's notice should the monster give chase, yet well hidden from the naked eye until the time came for her to use Yet... much to her surprise (and temporary relief), KaiserLeomon did not follow as she made her escape through the building and into the alleyway. The scene of the Perfect-level cyborg and it's Mega-level companion effortlessly bursting through the walls of the mayor's house like a knife through warm butter was still fresh in the silver knight's mind. And she fully expected the same here. Perhaps Lady Luck was on her side today? After exiting the candy shop, Skadi started to slow down, stopping in the middle of alleyway, and feeling her own blood run cold as KaiserLeomon's faint growl could be heard throughout the entire area, although the apparent lack of an attack reduced her tension. With a shaky hand, she tapped on Geisterseele once more... And her body turned completely invisible. It took all her self restraint for her not to utter even a quiet 'yes!', especially since KaiserLeomon was likely still on the prowl, seemingly ready to pounce should Skadi make even a single noise. It was a little something she learnt the hard way after her armour forced that creaking noise on the floor back at the house as she sneaked her way with Anzu. She just stood there, only shooting out a series of glances all around the alleyway for all the information she could quickly gleam from there. But she was still on the lookout for KaiserLeomon, and only if and when she knew that the crazy beast was gone, she would call the group back on Ilbert. Even a little bit of sound would probably be more than enough to attract her attacker. With any luck, KaiserLeomon would give up on seeking out Skadi and return back home, letting the young knight go home free. As she went for another quick gleam, she pulled out her D-Nexus, and started to write a short PM to Kenny over Tamernet, while waiting for KaiserLeomon to pass over: goatkid50: quick update. had a bit of a nasty kerfuffle with a bleached kaiserleomon back there. seems to use the same light element attacks as that hououmon. still out there, but they can't seem to detect me right now, might be leaving soon. i'm going to be staying put for the moment until they leave, then i'll get back to you. can't afford to make any more noise right now after what happened earlier. stay safe, you guys. <3
It was at this moment Kenny would receive that ping on his D-Nexus, and subsequently read out the message... all the while feeling his heart skip a beat or two, and his hands starting to tremble a little, "...oh no. Please tell me you guys are safe, please God."
With Skadi not engaged with direct combat with KaiserLeomon any more, she opts to switch on Geisterseele once again to turn invisible, hopefully this time for longer. She roots herself onto the spot and refuses to budge even an inch (or make any noise, really), opting to wait it out until the coast is clear, and KaiserLeomon (hopefully) departs. "Yeah, Whitewater sounds nice," Valt replied, feeling a lot more relaxed already. He gulped the last bit of the sake. Cassie's voice definitely makes it much more warmer in the compartment. Valt sighed in happiness before spreading his wings for a bit.
"I'll message the list later. It's pretty much just what we got back then when we first have dinner night if that's fine with you," Valt told her. "But probably ask Ophi what she want. If there's anything she said that I haven't ordered back then, get me those too. I'm kind of curious how it'll taste."
Well, that's done and all, Valt flinched at the Piyomon's screech. "...Do you know any background of this guy? I don't think I can join the other two considering I'm much less suited for stealth compared to them. So I might just... try if talking to this guy will jog their memory or something..."
"That's a good idea," Ryouta agreed. "I don't think Ilbert can assist Valt if he goes inside. Without any sort of artifacts helping, Valt is pretty much defenseless in one against two situation. So with that being said, I guess it's more safe for him to... see if there is a reaction from this guy if we're... talking about their interest or something... it also won't disturb the other two, right?"
"...I'm not so used to this though." Valt commented.
Kenny... definitely took this hard huh. Ryouta grabbed his shoulder then slowly try to get him uncurl. He also reclined the chair slightly. He also took off his mask... he's not sure if Kenny could relax with this gruff voice changer after all. "Listen to my voice..." yeah this is Ryouta's usual voice, the more youthful kind and definitely better at sounding empathetic compared to his fake voice. "Take a deep breath... count to ten... release slowly... repeat... Put your Digivice on the table... Now just focus on my voice, kay? Take a deep breath, don't curl up like that... count to ten... release.... I understand your feeling, but try to not get too caught up on it. If you panic, you can't react on time to assist her when it's needed. Have faith in her. She's Valt's second disciple after all."
"And I'm proud of her It's OK, Kenny It's fine to be panicking, but you must be strong. It might be cheesy as fuck, but remember... Bond between the human and Digimon could lead to miracle." Valt told him.

Fiora couldn't help a brief flinch of her own, at the Biyomon's screech. "... It certainly isn't happy, I can say that much..." She'd comment briefly, glancing back in the restrained Bleached bird's direction. Valt's question would make her think for a second, tapping her 'chin' a bit. "... It's possible; though I don't know if we'd be able to produce any strong emotional responses out of them." She'd mention; taking out her laptop, bringing up what information she had on this Biyomon. When the bird would let out another screech - this one less shrill, thankfully - Fiora would pause for a second. "... Beyond screeching, that is." She'd dryly add.
"There's the slightest possibility that this Biyomon is not the same digimon - given that there's both mixes of digimon resembling the citizens here, as well as digimon who we haven't been able to link to anyone." Fiora would remind the group, as she turned the laptop towards them, so that they could peruse the information themselves. "But, out of the profiles we've been able to put together... This one most closely matches the Biyomon."
The profile was for the aforementioned Birdramon courier, it appeared. The Birdramon did not have any given or chosen name, and thus simply went by the name of whatever form they were in - as most digimon who don't have a name do. They were among the few digimon here capable of reaching Garudamon stage, but preferred sticking to Birdramon and Biyomon form for reasons unknown.
Being a courier, they were oftentimes not at home; ferrying letters to and from the little mining settlement. But when they were home, they lived on their own, in a simple small house with only the necessities. The only potential frivolities that the Birdramon enjoyed being an enjoyment for photography, their home having albums of photos they'd take in their flights across the Digital World, as well as a few cameras of varying age and model.
Though they got along well with the villagers, they seemed to be closest to both their family - whom were in the Binary Archipelago - and another digimon that they regularly kept in contact with, who appeared to be a Delumon that lived in The Blossom Isles.
During the time of the villagers' disappearance, this Birdramon had been considering looking for someone to take up the slack for awhile, while they took a vacation to the Southern Tropics. Though...
... Assuming that the Birdramon here was the same digimon as the Biyomon they had in their custody, it appeared that that vacation wouldn't be happening anytime soon...
Then, there was Kenny, and how he looked to be on the edge of a panic attack. Ryouta was quick to act, on calming Kenny down; walking the young man through some brief breathing exercises. Fiora peered to the two humans with a good bit of sympathy, and - seeming to have her own ways of handling this - would glance over to Ilbert, murmuring to him "Could you get us some ice water, please?"
Once delivered, Fiora would take a glass of ice water over to Kenny; offering it to him. "Here - try sucking on an ice cube; focus on the cold of it for a second." It was how one of her coworkers tended to cope, with anxiety attacks like this; them having cited that the shock of the cold, and having that cold to focus on, helped a lot in bringing them down from attacks like this...
...
Then, there was Anzu. The shadows were limited, outside of the alleyway; but the further that she got from the DinoTigermon, the less necessary it quickly became, outside of obscuring oneself from whatever other Bleached Digimon may lurk, elsewhere in the village. At one point, a Bleached HolyAngemon could be seen wandering about; the face underneath its helm as emotionless as the rest of the Bleached digimon. It was easy to make a detour around it, however; it posing no real roadblock.
As far as danger went, the Sangloupmon appeared to be in the clear; things being rather quiet. Finding her way to the edge of the village would not be too difficult, either; given that it wasn't as huge as, say, Rosewood.
Once at the edge, it was only a matter of circling around until Ilbert - who stood out like a sore thumb at the edge of the clearing that surrounded the village, with his large size and blue-and-gold coloration - would come into view, as well. It appeared that the fight between Valt and the Hououmon had ended; as no dragon nor bird could be seen.
From here, all Anzu would need to do, is make her way back to the train.
...
Meanwhile, there was Skadi, who had opted to remain where she was in the alleyway - obscured from vision by the Geistersteele. Given the small size of the building, it wasn't hard to hear the beast pacing and scratching about from beyond it - as though it were trying to figure out just where the Grademon that it had been chasing had went and disappeared off to. Otherwise, though? Things were quiet.
At least, for the time being.
She'd have a chance to breathe, a chance to send a message to Kenny, a chance to settle down for a moment as she glanced about the alleyway - which was certainly an alleyway, to say the least. This was a simple alleyway; lacking a dead end, in that either direction lead to one of the roads that crisscrossed the village. Some empty crates were stacked against one of the walls; muddy but long-since-dried footprints implying that younger digimon might've once used them as a staircase, to climb up to the rooftops.
That quiet would be shattered with a bang, though, as something - likely the KaiserLeomon that was still on her trail - crashed into the candy store. Much more closely, its pacing and scratching about could be heard; things crunching underfoot as it snarled, from just beyond the wall.
It looked like staying idle would only last Skadi for so long.

So it looked like that the creepy, dead-eyed, Biyomon, who's enraged screeching easily put banshees to shame, most likely matched the missing Birdramon villager from earlier. No surprise they called the village home, but they seemed to love their job if the photos happened to say anything. It seemed they had a good life to call their own. So just why did they go along and allow themselves to be bleached? Unless something hit the village, and desperation set in...
But as for Kenny... well, it seemed his worries about Skadi hadn't gone unnoticed. His eyes was a little too fixated on the message as his mind just begged and prayed that Skadi was safe. His bones felt like they were turning to unset jelly, and a general sense of unease, courtesy of his own personal demons, came awash over his own body, as more tears started to fall. For all he knew, Skadi was just moments away from being shred into a billion tiny pieces from the KaiserLeomon.
So focused his mind was on the message, he flinched a little in surprise as a hand landed on his shoulder. What should have felt like a gentle pat felt more like if hundreds of thousands of kilowatts suddenly flowed through his body at this very moment. But as he turned his head slowly, his eyes laid upon Ryouta's kind looks, gently instructing him to help him calm down.
Despite his own mind chittering away in sheer panic and paranoia, it was just clear enough for him to respond with a single silent nod, before following Ryouta's instructions to a T. First, he breathed in, and internally counted to 10. Then he breathed out. Then he repeated once more. And all the while, he could feel his own body relaxing slowly once more. As soon as Ryouta told him to put the Digivice on the table, he gave it a quick glance for just a moment, and something just clicked inside him.
Focusing on Skadi's message was doing him more harm than good. All it was doing at this point was feeding his constant paranoia. It was unhealthy. He tended to be hyper-focused on the negative things, like if to him, they always overshadowed the positives. And he hated that aspect of himself. As he put the D-Nexus down on the table, he made sure the screen was facing down. It was gonna be hard. But he knew he had to resist the temptation, for his own sake. And for everyone else.
As he continued to slowly breath in and out, as per Ryouta's instructions, he continued to listen, and he understood; he had to be strong for Skadi. If he let his own paranoia and panic completely control him, he'd more than likely end up saying or doing something dumb because of the stress clouding his judgement, much less be able to react on time.
It'd be a little hard to spot at first, but a small smile started to crack upon Kenny's face, hearing what the two had to say about Skadi. But another moment of self reflection followed; did he really have that little faith in himself and Skadi as a team that he automatically assumed the worst? And for that matter, did he pay that little attention onto his own mental health that he let himself easily slip into those panic attacks?
Man, who thought a situation like this would make Kenny suddenly so self-reflective?
As soon as Ryouta and Valt finished speaking, the small smile on Kenny's face grew as he wiped away a tear, "...thank you, Ryouta, Valt. I understand where you guys are coming from. Sorry I made you guys worry like that. I guess I always keep assuming the worst is going to happen when things don't look too good for any of us for any reason." He crossed his arms a little, "Maybe I've just been so much of a worrywart all my life, that I've just focused on and amplified the bad stuff while paying little to no heed to the good stuff." It was an odd time to have an epiphany, but it was a welcome one to Kenny, nonetheless, "I better start working on that as soon as possible."
Noticing Fiora had offered a nice glass of ice water, he happily accepted it, "Thanks Fiora." After taking a bit of a sip, he took an ice cube and sucked on it for a little bit, as per instruction. They did say cold water was good to help relive from stress, after all. At least it got him to resist the temptation to grab the D-Nexus.
This little moment of relief from KaiserLeomon's seemingly neverending pursuit, no matter how short it was, was more than welcome for Skadi. It helped to calm herself, and recuperate her mind to allow her to focus properly, lest she let her own panic cloud her normally rational judgement and make one fatal mistake too many. She knew she had to completely lose KaiserLeomon first then get back to Ilbert second.
She flinched as she heard a loud crash, her eyes glancing towards the candy store. Dammit! It looked like KaiserLeomon had found her scene in there. And Skadi couldn't afford to stay around any longer. Without another moment to spare, she dashed away from the candy store, glancing behind her for a brief second to see if KaiserLeomon or any of their cronies kept giving chase.
She kept dashing forward for a good bit, before ducking in once more into whatever nearest building she could reach, the same side the candy store was beforehand. She needed to get back to Ilbert, yes, but she also had to throw her predator off. After all, as far as she could tell, she could phase through the walls just fine; KaiserLeomon had to spend that little extra bit of energy to destroy the walls.
Silently, underneath her invisible cloak, the icy armour started to shrink down and disappear, returning back to her proper armour once more. Just as well, too. She felt her physique return to normal as well in the process, the aftereffects of KaiserLeomon's mighty roar from earlier wearing off as well. She needed to get back safely, to reunite with Anzu as soon as possible, and the rest of the group to tell them of their findings of the village.
And most importantly, give them the letter.
Nothing much to say here other than both the effects of King's Roar and Frostcloak wear off this post, returning Skadi's stats back to normal

Well, it seems like the teammates had been breaking some ground between them. That was...honestly a little heartwarming to see. Compared to Ryouta, Kenny seemed a bit more green when it came to this stuff. It showed. But he had resolved to get better, which...
Akemi couldn't fault that. She wanted to get better at a lot of things too. "So we might have the courier here, but...we also might not." She replied towards Fiora. Yeah, they...still definitely needed more data before they could start drawing proper conclusions.
All they could do at this moment was wait for Anzu and Skadi to hopefully come back alive and without a bunch of Bleached at their backs. Thankfully? The former had managed to get clear of the DinoTigermon for the moment. And was making her way back to the GranLocomon.
Akemi glanced out the window as the Shadowform faded. "I think they're coming back!" Well, hopefully they'd all come back without much trouble. Akemi couldn't see Skadi for the moment...

....Seriously, they got quite the feral bird. Chirping like that is dangerous as hell... But this brings a certain question... "...Actually, it makes me wonder of something,,, why are they still here, locally and all?" Valt asked. "Just what caused them to stay in here, if those that being bleached seem to regress to this state? Why aren't they... going somewhere else? What's so different with being feral?"
"That's a good question," Ryouta agreed, "if being bleached means they followed their instinct and all that, why are they still locally here, and not to mention, they just within the village, roaming it like a zombie? I feel like there's something more within the village... I mean, if they're prioritizing what they want, this Hououmon probably should've headed to the southern tropics, right?"
Valt hummed. He then pulled a chair and sat in front of the Piyomon. "...Hey, uh.... are you the city's mail guy?" ...he obviously does not expect that it'll do anything but to screech. He looked at Ilbert who returned with envelope with a letter inside. "...Let's see... do you know what is this?" he asked, offering the letter to the Piyomon.
...Of course for authenticity sake, they already put a stamp and address on it.
"Are you...?"
"Trying to trigger some reaction, yeah," Valt answered Ryouta's question. On top of it, Valt also put a postcard depicting the southern tropics. Let's see it that triggered something... probably not, but there's no harm in trying, right? Upon hearing that Anzu is returning, Valt looked at the window. Looks like everything going on well after all?

Fiora nodded briefly in response to the thanks, her eyes squinting in a soft smile as she saw Kenny beginning to settle down some. Kenny seemed like he very much was one to follow his gut - even if his gut sometimes led him to becoming antsy - in her opinion. But, he also was a sweet young man; and she could see why he had been paired with and had bonded with such an outgoing young soul like Skadi.
Sitting back next to the bound Biyomon though, Fiora would glance to Anzu, and nodded. "There's no harm in trying to assume that they're the courier while we're trying to get a response out of them, but... It's probably also a good idea to not bank everything on the possibility that we might get through to them, too." The odds were likely not in their favor for getting a response out of the bird, after all... Only once did they seem to elicit any sort of reaction, after all; and it was extremely subtle.
Valt's and Ryouta's questions, too, would prompt a hum from the Stingmon. "... It's possible that they still recognize this town as 'home' or a den for them, even if they're behaving like ferals." She'd respond thoughtfully, adding "There being something in the village that's causing them to stick around, though, is another possibility... The only question is what, however; and we probably won't know until the other two get back with info..."
As Valt pulled closer to the Biyomon, it would attempt to lunge forward at him with a bite of its beak, screeching once more. However, even if the lunge was quite sudden, Fiora was faster; grabbing its shoulders and pushing it back down into a seated position. With its feet and wings bound, there was not much more it could do besides lunge or wriggle, and it'd stare Valt down for a few moments, before returning to chewing on the silk in a futile attempt to break itself free.
Upon being offered the letter from Valt, though... The Biyomon would pause for a second, cocking its head at the object. It almost seemed as though it didn't know what to make of it, but...
CHOMP!
... Suddenly, the avian digimon would attempt to lunge forward once again - this time to attempt to grab the letter, and try to wrench it away from Valt! Fiora was a little startled, and appeared unsure as to whether she should intervene or not. "Huhm..." is all that they would murmur, sounding... An equal amount of perplexed, and concerned.
Instead, at Akemi's exclamation of the others returning, Fiora would look up towards the window; her eyes squinting at the corners in a smile. "Good; I'm curious to hear what they might've found, in the town..." She'd muse; adding "Hopefully they aren't hurt,"
...
Meanwhile, there was Skadi. In dashing forward, the sounds of the KaiserLeomon would grow more and more distant; save for more crashing, but even that would eventually fade into the background. The KaiserLeomon appeared to be nowhere in sight - no longer so deathly close to Skadi's tail, and certainly not darting into view now.
Dashing through another building, though, would certainly set the beast back further - and it appeared that the edge of town was coming into sight, as well. From here, it would - much like with Anzu - be a simple task of just heading straight for Ilbert; circling around the clearing as necessary.

Even as a kid, when Kenny had to deal with nasty, uncontrollable meltdowns when caught in a stressful situation, a nice cold glass of water did help calm him down the best he could. He could feel himself relaxing greatly, and while a few wayward tears did find their way out, he was mostly relieved, and internally, he was taking Ryouta and Valt's words to heart; have faith in Skadi. She was a smart Digimon, she'd find her way back safely with Anzu and lose whoever was on her tail.
At the very least, it was enough for Kenny to continue to listen some more to the conversations. On paper, yes, using a memento to jog the Bleached Biyomon's memory was a good idea, considering that the Bleached Digimon probably still called the village home. But in practice, anything could happen at this point. Still, he nodded in agreement to Fiora, and his hands instinctively hovered over his ears as Valt approached the Biyomon.
No way was he taking any chances with his eardrums.
Right on cue, Kenny quickly covered his ears the moment Valt approached the Biyomon, wincing a little, because hot damn, this bird was ungodly loud for a Rookie level. Only when he could hear the screeching die out, he turned to watch Valt egg the Biyomon for information with a letter and a postcard. All he could do himself was just watch what would happen next, his hands still raised near his ears just in case.
That sudden loud chomp coming from the Biyomon hadn't just startled Fiora; Kenny was never really good with sudden loud noises, be it glass breaking, balloons popping or, well, that. He flinched a little, leaning a little more back away from the crazy bird. All he could say to that was just a quiet "...Jesus."
As he leaned back on his seat to recuperate himself, Akemi just had to mention that the scouters were coming back. From what he could see, at least Anzu was coming back safely, "Me too." Kenny added with a small, hopeful smile, "I guess I really should've put a bit more faith in Skadi, at least. And just not jump to conclusions and worst-case scenarios based on flimsy pieces of evidence." He gave a knowing glance back to his D-Nexus, then back to the group, "She may be a bit of a dag, but I know at least she's not a flat-out idiot."
As she dashed forward in her bid to avoid KaiserLeomon, Skadi could only afford to give whatever, or possibly whoever, was behind her quick glances from time to time. But eventually, as the noise started to die down, a fresh feeling of relief came across the anxious SilverGrademon. All she had to do now was make it back to Ilbert and recoup with the rest of the group.
Even then, she wasn't affording to take any chances. She'd only opt to switch off Geisterseele once she was fully inside Ilbert. As she made her way back to the massive GranLocomon, her eyes continued to dart to see whatever was there. The loud caws, cries and crashes from the Valt-Hououmon battle were nowhere to be heard. Knowing Valt, he most likely knocked out the menace. No surprise, considering how big and strong her senpai was.
She then took a small glance to the scabbard to where she stuffed what seemed to be Stella's letter; just what happened to the dad, exactly? And why did he run off again? Unless it was just purely coincidence, she was sure the DinoTigermon and KaiserLeomon were the GrapLeomon and the BlackGatomon from the photo back in the manor, respectively. But just what did this so-called 'Malakim' mean by 'volunteer', exactly? That was something Skadi couldn't quite put her finger on.
Unless... Malakim was connected to the zombielike Digimon in some way? Old Luminas was well known for their crazy, boarding on zealot nature, but the only Bleached Digimon Skadi was aware of were Hououmon (possibly the lost Birdramon, not a Virus-type), DinoTigermon (GrapLeomon, also not a Virus-type), and KaiserLeomon (BlackGatomon, the only known Virus-type). Old Luminas only had it out for Virus-types, not non-Angel and Holy Digimon.
But then again, Stella's journal did say that Malakim's project was open to everyone in the village...
Regardless, she darted back to Ilbert as fast as she could. Only when she was inside she'd turn off Geisterseele. She already had gotten into a bit of a mess with one Bleached Digimon. And as far as she was concerned, she wasn't going to risk dragging another, possibly more dangerous, one back to Ilbert. Her footsteps could be heard alongside Anzu's from Ilbert, albeit a little more faint, considering her distance from the wolf.

...
What the heck was a dag? Akemi blinked a few times in confusion at that. She didn't know Aussie slang in the slightest, so...that sounded odd. Nonetheless a valid question had been raised. Why were they still even here if they had been robbed of their wills? Was this a den to them now?
"...Hopefully the girls have an idea as to why." They knew more than she did at the moment given they were HOPEFULLY gathering information within the village.
Anzu dashed towards Ilbert and made a movement to hop on and into the GranLocomon. "Okay, those guys are way scarier up close than I thought they would be..." She admitted.
"What even happened?" Akemi inquired.
"Skadi and I hit up the Mayor's house, got some information from his family's writings and his own before we got...found by the Bleached roaming around that area. SO we have been in a chase for the past few minutes and...I managed to lose the one on me. Skadi should be right behind me, she has the form more suited towards diverting things what with how ghostly it is...We found some good information, though, honest!"

Valt seem to be thinking for a while. "...Speaking of which, has there been any report of infighting between bleached?" he asked. "I mean, I never heard of ferals of different species somehow flocks together in one den... Does this means they're somehow have a sense of camaraderie between bleached? Or some sort of a hivemind?"
That though made Valt reacts late to the sudden CHOMP. The dragon jolted, and let go of the letter... He's honestly interested what the bird will do to it. Either way, uh... he diverted his attention to the other.
"Looks like they're all here... Well, I'm glad that it looks like they're not... visibly hurt... But even then for the best, it's probably good to rest for a while inside Ilbert," Valt told the other. Anyway... for the rest... "Please report what do you find, then... I'd like to hear it in full, or if you have any sort of... idea what's happening."
There's not much to say. He's pretty much curious how the Piyomon would do though! At any rate, Kenny has calmed down, now Skadi is here, it's definitely easier... However, next is how they're going to approach the village... He don't think that he could go there with Ryouta or anything... which means once again they have to play remote control?"

"It's hard to say..." Fiora murmured, in response to Valt's own ponderings. "I'd imagine that, given the similarities between these digimon, that it's possible they see each other as being one and the same; but... That's just my theory, really." A lot of this stuff was up in the air, to be honest; a lot of stuff that they wouldn't know until Skadi and Anzu both return with information, and until they properly study these Bleached digimon...
And speaking of Bleached Digimon - there would the Biyomon, and the letter that it had grabbed from Valt..! The V-mon was able to avoid any fingers being chomped, thankfully, as he was quick to pull away - though that also meant that the letter was now in the holy bird's possession, raising the question as to what it'd do with it.
Once the letter was firmly in the grasp of its beak, the Biyomon would pause for a few moments - as though considering the object it now had, and what to do with it. The quiet would hang for a few moments, before it'd decide to tuck its beak underneath one of its wings the best it could - appearing to store the letter, by nestling it amongst its down and feathers, until it was completely concealed..!
Fiora, personally, would find this behavior interesting - quietly noting it down in her head, though not wanting to make any single conclusion yet.
Instead, she'd turn her attention to Skadi and Anzu, now that they both were present and on the train. She'd listen to Anzu's explanation about what all had happened, quietly nodding along to the wolf's words. "It sounds like you both had a rough time, out there... Sit down, let me know if either of you are hurt anywhere." Fiora coaxed the duo both - asking "Do either of you have these writings with you, so that I could read them? Or could either of you explain what you both have found out?"

Considering what Kenny had seen of a live Bleached Digimon in the flesh so far, as he watched the Biyomon take away the letter, he fully expected it to effortlessly shred it into a billion pieces with just it's beak alone. Instead, much to his surprise, it just stored away the letter underneath it's feathers like it would a baby chick. And to be honest, Kenny was trying (and failing) to not crack a smile from that alone.
"Well... that happened." Kenny couldn't help but chuckle a little at that, "Seems we managed to tap into a part of their old personality, or at least jog their memory a little." Was it wrong he was finding some sort of odd amusement from that? Probably yes, but even he couldn't help but admit, for a dead-eyed bird who could quickly and easily go feral at the drop of a hat, it's antics with the letter was a little adorable.
His attention quickly shifted over to the arrival of Anzu jumping inside, listening what she had to say to the rest of the group and promising that they found some valuable information on them. Right from behind, Skadi's footsteps got a little louder as she followed up from behind. In her hand was the letter from earlier. The moment she got onto Ilbert, she tapped on Geisterseele again, making her visible once more, this time back into her Valaismon form. The only apparent injury on her was a bruise, a leftover from when the KaiserLeomon struck her.
Before she could say anything, Kenny had quickly gotten out of his seat, grabbing her and pulling her into his embrace with a huge smile on his face, stroking the back of her head, "Never scare me like that again."
Skadi just grinned back at him, proceeding to nuzzle him on the cheek affectionately, "I'm sorry, Kenny. You know I wouldn't try to scare you on purpose. Don't worry yourself too much, I'm fine. Just got a little held up by a nasty Bleached Digimon, is all."
"Glad to hear that you're fine at least, man." Kenny gently put his partner down, ruffling her hair affectionately. As the two took their seats back, Skadi couldn't help but glance over at the webbed up Biyomon a little shuddering a little in fear. She knew not to provoke it, lest the Biyomon manage to escape from it's trap and tear everyone here to shreds. But she still couldn't help but feel a little unnerved by it's mere presence.
Still, she looked over at Fiora, "I'm fine. Just... my elbow kinda got a bit of a nasty bruise here." She said, rubbing it a little, "Before I start, I found this letter from the mayor's house, from the major's daughter." She held out the folded up letter for Fiora to take out of her hands. Once Fiora accepted the letter, Skadi would begin with her explanation of the findings, Kenny listening all the while.
"Well, first off, concerning the Bleached Digimon... while, as you can probably tell that we kinda learned the hard way when they chased us down that they don't really take too kindly to non-Bleached Digimon, from what we could observe, the two Bleached Digimon we did spot, a KaiserLeomon and a DinoTigermon, seemed eerily content with one another, just prowling around together and seemingly guarding the mayor's house from intruders like us.
Speaking of the mayor, we found some interesting details from the diaries. It looks like the KaiserLeomon and DinoTigermon are the mayor and their daughter, Astrid and Stella, a GrapLeomon and BlackGatomon respectively. We did see a photo with them with a Sealsdramon, who seems to be the dad, if the diaries we found any anything to go by. Apparently, the dad ran off because mining operations dried up, leaving Astrid and Stella to run things by themselves to try and heal their economic standings.
According to Stella's diary, they said there was this so-called 'Luminas Preacher' named Malakim. All I know about him was that, according to Stella he had 'white wings'. He was constantly holding sermons inside the mines and told stories to Stella, at least until he offered everyone in the village to 'volunteer' for a special project, claiming to solve their woes. Unfortunately, the diary kinda stops after that bit, so that's all I know of for now."
"Wait, Skadi, hold up," Kenny said, holding up his hands, "'Luminas preacher'? 'White wings'? 'Malakim'? I'm starting to think he may be connected to the Bleached Digimon in some way."
Skadi tilted her head a little, "How do you know?"
"Well, while you guys were out, I scanned Hououmon, or rather, Biyomon, when we had the chance." Kenny started to explain himself, "And when I first got the results, it was a little... off. First the D-Nexus went off on about the Bleached Hououmon being 'cleansed' and 'forgiven' of their own sins, and this binary message said something like 'be purged of sin'. Before it started screeching like a dying banshee, that is." He rubbed his arm a little bit, as if he was a fault for that little gaffe.
"It seems the perpetrator in question must have proposed to cleanse the 'volunteers' of all what supposedly held them back, which must have been their personality, or at least their individuality. Of course, I'm just suggesting, considering what we know now." He shrugged. At least they got more information on the major traits and details behind the Bleached.

If they were all like the Hououmon, then it would make sense that there wouldn't be any sort of report of infighting. After all, the Bleached were, as the digivice said...Pure, right? That line of thought echoed in Akemi's head a few times as Anzu and later Skadi hopped back into Ilbert.
So, they were just fine, which was nice to see. "...Holding up okay?" She quietly inquired towards the Sangloupmon, who...shook her head. "Nope. Think my blood pressure shot up eight times because of that...d-damn cat." Being chased by something like that was not fun in the slightest.
Now came the time to go over what they had found. "Skadi's right. They...not only seem to react quite adversely to non-Bleached, but...we did find journals from the family of the mayor. I'm not sure which of the family was which of the Bleached that were chasing us, but...that home invasion went awry when we were exiting. That's the explanation behind the delay in getting here."
And then, Akemi spoke up. "I'm going to have to agree with the current theory that this Malakim holds a connection with the Bleached. The Digivice spoke of purity, and...There's a particular feeling I get from a white winged preacher that offered a solution to their woes..."
They had information, yes, but what do they do with it?
