Well... that... that's interesting. The Piyomon took it and put it under all those feathers. Hmmm....? Hmmm.... It's a bit too early indeed to pull out any sort of conclusion, but this is at least a 'positive' behavior toward indication that bleached might have part of their habit still integrated within them... But then again a true 'experiment' would means they have to release it to see whether it'll come to the tropics or not. However, doing so would means releasing feral, and untested mutant to the public...
That is simply idiocy.
Valt instead decided that he should listen to the rest and what they have explored. It sounded from the sound of it, the boar from a case in the east has caused a crisis... in the end, it's dooming the town. But the appearance of this "preacher from Luminas" (which to Valt honestly sounded like a big red flag, complete with siren) sounded like they're taking their chances while everyone is having trouble.
"..........Luminas," Valt muttered. Malakim? That means 'Angel' in Arabic. Not that much of an issue with him. But the fact that they're a preacher, not to mention the cultlike nature of the data that's scanned....
"...So I'm guessing that the next route is to go to the mine then?" Valt asked at the other two. "....Because I only can think that as a piece of interest. As much as I wanted to contain this 'Astrid' and 'Stella', I don't think I can fight against Kaiser Leomon and Dino Tigermon by myself. If three of us fight against them, I think we'll pull attention of other bleached... It can't be just three of them..."
"The mine... huh," Ryouta muttered. But either way, their eyes now on Fiora the Stingmon. "...What do you think we should do?"

As Skadi mentioned having a nasty bruise, Fiora would nod understandingly - retrieving some ice from Ilbert, and spinning silk around it to make an icepack for Skadi. "Here; this should help relieve the pain," The Stingmon offered the ice pack to her - the cold of the ice, and the beneficial data that laced the silk, both hopefully helping in patching the little Valaismon back up on top of the regeneration that Ilbert provided. Meanwhile, she'd take the offered the letter - idly looking the paper over as she listened to Skadi and Anzu's reports.
Though Fiora lacked a mouth to frown with, the way her brow furrowed said everything in her concerned demeanor - the information provided by the journal providing some answers - albeit concerning ones - yet also providing many more questions left yet unsolved. Who, exactly, was this Malakim? What connection did he and his strange project seem to have with the Bleached Digimon? And...
"... How was there an Angel Digimon in the mines?" Fiora murmured to herself in question, out loud.
It took her a second to realize that she had spoken her thoughts - prompting a delayed reaction and a delayed explanation, as the Stingmon blinked before shaking her head. "P-Pardon, I mean... The mines. Last we had checked, when we were investigating the village after everyone's disappearances... The mine's entrance was blocked off, like it had collapsed." She'd explain; gesturing to the map that she had drawn out for Skadi and Anzu before they had left before. Indeed, if they'd check the map once again, they'd see the fact that Fiora had noted the mine to have had collapsed... "We haven't had been able to check it since for obvious reasons, though..."
"Investigating the mines would be prudent, if indeed there might be further hints in there, but... Given that the entrance was blocked off, it makes me wonder just what had happened before we had arrived to investigate..." Fiora murmured out loud, thinking. Something was off, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it...
"... If the mines are still blocked off, you'll likely want to go expecting a fight from whatever ruckus gets kicked up from breaking through, on top of the fact that there are two agitated Bleached Digimon out there in the village now. And if the entrance has already been opened back up for whatever reason, well.."
"... You'll still want to be careful, I think. Call it a woman's intuition, but... I have a bad feeling about all this..."

Skadi didn't hesitate to take Fiora's makeshift ice pack; she let out a simple "Thank you, Fiora." as she took it off the Stingmon's hand and pushed it onto the bruise. The coldness of the ice against her skin initially made her wince a little bit as she lightly squeezed it on the bruise, but quickly, the healing silk had worked wonders on her bruise, as the redness started to fade into a purplish tone, and as she spoke, the bruise faded once more into a light brown-ish tone.
And with Skadi's explanation all wrapped up, all she and Kenny could do now was listen to the others throw into their own two cents on the matter; Akemi's odd hunch was more than enough to tell Kenny that he wasn't exactly the only one having extremely loud alarm bells ringing in his own head set off from Skadi and Anzu's explanation, and Valt would suggest going to the mine next, which Skadi answered by giving a little nod.
Fiora, or rather, her idle thoughts that managed to slip by undetected by her, had quickly caught the duo's attention, however, and they would listen to everything Fiora had to say to them; the mention of the mine entrance collapse, and the subsequent explanation about the possible circumstances made Skadi's ear twitch a bit in concern. Kenny could even be seen twiddling his fingers a little nervously.
Something was wrong.
Kenny was first to speak, albeit not without taking a deep breath first, "...Call it a hunch, but if Malakim really was the cause behind... this," He gestured to the Biyomon, still keeping a good distance away lest they get any funny ideas with any loose limbs, "He, or possibly one of his cronies, might have forced a cave-in to quickly cover his tracks, just in case anyone decided to investigate the mines and trace any evidence he couldn't destroy, or forgot to, back to him." If that was true, then at least Kenny could appreciate the complete and utter irony of Malakim's plan.
But it was clear Skadi's nerves were quietly eating away at her. With her head tilted down, her fingers rapidly drummed on her seat, and she lightly kicked the air, "...I don't know what we should do here if the mines are closed off; if we try to force the entrance open, especially by force, we might as well just be banging pots and pans, screaming 'we're here, we're here, come kill us!' to nearby Bleached.
And I may be able to bypass the walls and get into the mine in my SilverGrademon form to try and make a separate entrance, but as me and Anzu learnt the hard way, Bleached Digimon have really strong senses. I'd argue a little too strong for their own good. They can smell blood very easily, and they can easily destroy anything in their path." She gave a worried sigh; it was practically a miracle she managed to escape 'Stella' with little more than a nasty looking bruise, and two of the ideas she put forward had a few obvious flaws.
Kenny just patted Skadi lightly on the shoulder, smiling reassuringly at her, before turning back to the rest of the group, "I don't blame you for thinking that way, Fiora. From what we know of the evidence so far, the cave-in at the mine just comes off as far too fishy to me. Malakim had held plenty of sermons there, and perhaps he deliberately engineered the cave-in because he couldn't destroy or hide all the evidence in time, and just called it a day. It sounds like the most likely explanation, at least to me..."
Yep, something was definitely wrong.

It seemed as though the most pertinent of clues, and the next direction this mystery was being taken towards was the mines. There were discrepancies there, and Akemi obviously felt inclined to agree with Kenny. There was likely tampering done by someone to cover up the tracks, and...
...Maybe the origin of the Bleached in this village lay there, too.
Anzu took a long look at the map. "...I mean, if they have explosive attacks, we can just try getting them to fire at the entrance to try blowing it open, but then we'd have to deal with them too..." She stated in regards to Skadi's fears. Probably not the greatest reassurance in the world.
"So, we can easily assume the cave-in happened recently...I think we should go check that out next." Akemi concluded. "...Caution is something we definitely need to exercise after what just happened."
So, how would they be approaching this?

What indeed? "...From the information the duo gathered regarding Malakim, it's seem that he's a Luminas preacher that recently came... but... how to say... preacher or no preacher, I can't really trust someone who uses the mine as location of a meeting. It's... a bit too suspicious to say?" Ryouta commented. "...Granted, I can't really say that it wasn't because of cliched movie plots that generally use mine or any abandoned site for nefarious plan or something."
"Well, that aside, let's recount what we got so far," Valt suggested. "Fiora, what places has your team or you yourself have explored prior hiring our help? Also, Skadi and Anzu, please cross-check the events that happened and listed in the journal along with Fiora's explanation. If nothing else come up, then we'll move to the mine, sounds good?"
"I feel we're missing something, but I can't point out what exactly..."
"The letter, what does it says?" Valt asked. "Have you two read it?"
Here hoping there have more clue than what they have available at this point. They need everything to solve this after all.
"...When we're going to the mine, I don't think that Ilbert could follow, right?" Ryouta asked Fiora to make sure. "That means we might going to have a bit of a trouble providing any backup..."

It seemed that everyone was in agreement that the mine was their likely best bet, for finding more information. Fiora would slowly and quietly nod along as the assembled group all voiced their theories as to why the mine might've been collapsed, as well as potential plans for approaching the mines. Skadi was reluctant about risking any potential run-ins with the Bleached digimon it seemed - and Fiora, honestly, couldn't blame the little sheep.
Even though the Bleached Digimon, as far as Fiora understood, more or less fought akin to a normal holy digimon... Their mindless tenacity and ferocity, paired with their uncanny blank stares and near-emotionless demeanor, made them a disturbing foe to face.
Ryouta, on the other hand, found the location to be suspicious, and Valt was curious where they had explored prior to everything. "As we had mentioned before, we weren't able to investigate the mines, due to the cave-in." She began. "Though we might've been able to break in and investigate it, we were reasonably concerned as to whether it'd be safe - we had believed that since it caved in, it was likely growing unstable, and would require preparations before it's safe to investigate. But, if the cave-in was artificial as you all suggested, it's likely safe to investigate."
"Going back on track, though... We investigated most of the town to our best efforts; starting with places that were unlocked or otherwise had an open door or window for us to climb in through." She'd explain; gesturing to the map as she talked, to indicate different specific locations. "We were not able to put as finely-toothed of a comb as we would've liked to the place, due to being on limited time - not that we knew it then. We, additionally, wanted to avoid property damage from breaking into locked containers and locations until we better knew the fate of the civilians, and until we knew that we had no other leads that we could investigate."
It was a bit of a constrictive policy, but an understandable one; you certainly didn't want to come home to your house being wrecked by investigators without there being a good reason, after all. Thus, they typically saved the wrecking for last. "After the Bleached Digimon started appearing however, we had to call off any further investigations due to the danger they posed, and our lack of manpower; which is when we sent out the call for aid that you all answered." Fiora concluded - adding "If we had been aware that the Bleached Digimon would eventually crop up in the area, we likely would've been less reserved about taking more drastic measures to investigate the town."
And as for the letter... "... The letter seems to be an unfinished letter, from the BlackGatomon you mentioned - Stella - to the aforementioned father." Fiora noted, frowning gently, her tone taking on a somber tone. "Though it's good that we know the address of the father - so that we may notify him of what's transpired here..." She'd trail off sadly, her antennae drooping, before shaking her head. "... The letter gives insight to the digimon that once lived here, though it doesn't seem to have any relevant information for us and our task at hand."
Glancing to Anzu and Skadi, Fiora would briefly question them "Did either of you happen to retrieve the journals, at all?"
Then, there was the question of Ilbert. Fiora would nod a bit - mentioning "Ilbert likely would not be able to fit - at least, not without crashing into buildings in the process, or otherwise devolving into a smaller form. However, the risks associated with either method go without saying."
After a brief moment of thought, though... Fiora stated "Though I'd like it if we could avoid significantly damaging any properties, I will not question it if you decide we need Ilbert on the scene for any reason, even at the sacrifice of any buildings along the way. I can imagine that a digimon as sturdy as Ilbert wouldn't hurt himself too badly charging on through, either."

Post by Kenny O'Hara and Skadi on Apr 18, 2020 3:07:24 GMT
Everyone so far had been throwing out some really good ideas and details thus far about their theories and what to do next, but another theory started to form within Kenny's head, while Skadi turned to Valt and nodded in agreement to his request; was the idea of setting up the sermons in the cave deliberate and part of his plan? An easy way out to save himself the trouble of destroying or burying the evidence just to save time?
It seemed likely, considering the state of the mine right about now.
The two would turn over to Fiora and listened to everything she had to say, including the investigations between before the Bleached Digimon started to appear, and after the first sightings. Skadi didn't hesitate to raise a hand as soon as Fiora finished speaking, "If I remember correctly, Stella's journal ended with Malakim seeking out volunteers for the experiment, and after that... nothing. There must have been a bit of a gap between the experiments he likely carried out on the residents and the first sightings of the Bleached."
Kenny was quick to add onto Skadi's points, "Maybe, from the way Hououmon, and the two feline Digimon reacted to every single one of us so far, I think that they, and possibly whoever found themselves caught in the village the around the same day Malakim started the experiments, were encouraged to keep out the rest of the outside world and live inside their own little 'utopia'." Cue the young man making air quotes as he said it, "And repelling, or even killing, others who dared to set foot inside. Skadi, did you see any signs of damage yourself to the town when you and Anzu first entered?"
"Not really, no." She shook her head, "Everything was so eerily calm when we entered. It just looked abandoned and empty. The only thing we could see damaged before we were chased out was from a window high up in the mansion where the same two Bleached attacked, and they were just jumping out of it and prowling around outside afterwards with no hint of animosity towards each other."
As Kenny listened, he rubbed his chin in thought. Just what had been going on thus far? These were certainly powerful Digimon, but why restrict them to this area alone? "Yeah, it seems that the Bleached were indeed cut off from the outside world. Or at the very least, encouraged that everything under the sun in the outside world is 'full of sin' and 'flawed' and such. Maybe that's why the village 'went dark'."
As for Skadi and the letter? She shook her head again, this time sadly, at Valt, "Unfortunately, no. I picked up the letter and put it in my scabbard while we were searching for the journals to save it for late. If I had the chance during that time, I would've read it, but we only had enough time to read the journals before we were forced to escape. Sorry about that." If it was at any consolation, Fiora would, and if there was any information to be found, it would be the address of the missing dad.
Any bit of little information could make a huge difference.
Unfortunately, about the journal... again, Skadi would tilt her head down sadly, "We couldn't. If it's any consolation, we did managed to read everything in the two journals before what happened next, because Stella's journal stopped after mentioning Malakim's volunteering and her intention to go. We would've taken it back with us if we weren't suddenly being lurked then chased out by the two Bleached Digimon following us. We tried to sneak away from them by still trying to hide under our camouflage, but... I wasn't so lucky in that regard. That creaking floor really tripped me up back there, metaphorically speaking."
That slight rubbing of the arm she did was enough to tell them that she felt at fault for what happened. With a sad sigh, Kenny just pet her on the head, and smiled at her reassuringly.
Other than that? On the topic of bringing Ilbert, Kenny didn't really have much of a horse in this race to say much on that front, but a thoughtful gaze showed up on his face, "From what I've seen so far, Ilbert certainly has some nasty support moves to at least leave a good dent in the opponent's defences, and that's just all by himself. But that's just my two cents on the matter, I'll leave it up to you to decide, Ryouta. After all, he is your assistant; you know a helluva lot more about him than me."
Being a good friend of his (and like the big brother he never had, to boot), he trusted him that he would know what was right to tackle the mines. In fact, everyone knew what they were doing. But with the threat of the Bleached looming over them, they couldn't afford to take this trip lightly.
Not that anyone actually was, anyways.

(Holy CHRIST I am so sorry for the delay on this post!)
"...We can only assume they were keeping people out of their so-called utopia if they had free will. These Digimon seemed more feral than anything." Anzu stated. "They were entirely docile until we showed up. And judging from the very nature of their attacks, they seem...as though they have a specific purpose when it comes to their skillsets, however altered they might be from whatever they originally were. The older journal appeared to have been penned up by the Mayor, the father of a small family. Difficulties arose as the town began to find their source of income drying up. I suspect Stella's journal began after the father went missing unexpectedly..."
Anzu was not done speaking, however. "...I feel like we were bound to be sighted eventually. No need to beat yourself over it. I think the final thing we need to do is..." She then made a crucial mistake. Trailing off.
"The mine." Akemi interjected then and there. "It keeps coming up, so I think it'd be reasonable to assume another piece of the puzzle lies there. However, heading there might prove...dangerous. More than just heading into the town. What say you guys?"
