Aoi had been particularly irritating today. Just as Junko had gotten changed out of her school uniform and into her running clothes, the older woman who called herself her parent decided to barge into her room, without ever knocking! Mind you, this was more or less how they usually interacted, and while the two women had more or less a workable relationship, it was pretty prone for friction to form from one moment to the next. In any case, after a short discussion, the task given to her had been pretty straightforward; she had been given a somewhat heavy —and supposedly very fragile— box that she was supposed to deliver to an indicated address. A department building, it seemed? The aqua-haired teenager hadn’t asked for a lot of details, mostly because she didn’t care about them. For now, she guessed that the box would be an okayish substitute for the training weights she intended to wear this afternoon and set out, her destination being the address given.
As one would expect, the whole trip happened without much issue. Juni tried to take the activity in stride and picked up the pace when she could, but the truth was that going through a somewhat crowded street with a fragile item in between her hands wasn’t the same as running freely in a park or something. Once in the designated building, she began to climb stairs, one by one, all the way until floor fifty-one.
Alright! She was finally about to be done with this annoying task; it only took her a couple more steps to finally be in front of the door where she was supposed to deliver the package. Her finger pressed the doorbell; with any luck, whoever was supposed to live here would respond quickly enough, just so she could go back to her exercising routine. The sooner she was done with this, the better.

So much excitement! Anticipation! Behind the door that Juni would eventually have to wait at, someone was so giddy that she couldn't even work on anything! Boxes scattered most of the rooms, including a few in the entryway. Most were already opened, but clearly hadn't been sorted and placed in their proper places. In the living room, a couch was tipped over, with two legs still needing to be screwed into place.
But, the new resident just couldn't stand the idea of holding still long enough to even finish assembling the simple furniture! Let alone focus on where the boxes should actually go! Even the one that was clearly full of random bathroom supplies! It was just too much to deal with right now! Granted, moving was exhausting on its own, and it was probably going to take her the next year to get most of these things properly unpacked, anyway. Hopefully, the apartment was nice enough that she had no intent on moving out before then!
Given, it was actually quite a nice place! With a good view. And, as long as there weren't any severe maintenance issues that came up, this girl probably wouldn't be going anywhere for a long while! Except, maybe to a certain relative's house for visits. If her plan didn't fall into place, at least.
On the bright side, with all this anticipation and hype, once the 'delivery girl' rang the bell, she wouldn't have to wait very long at all! Likely, she'd hear a thump of feet hitting the ground, and maybe the shuffling of a last-minute box that someone had forgotten was blocking the door. Stupid boxes, hindering movement, and doors, and things!
Or, maybe, it was more of a careless Michi, for putting boxes in the way of the only exit to the home! Especially since that was verging on being a fire hazard!
Finally (even though not much time had actually passed), the door would swing open. A silver-haired girl stood in the entryway, with a wide smile. If there wasn't a box in her visitor's hands, she'd have probably already jumped on her! But, for now, Michi was managing to hold relatively still! After half a second, which felt like a decade, the girl lifted both hands up, giving a small wave.
"Surprise!"

It wasn’t long before Junko heard the sound of a pair of feet advancing forward. Whoever was this package’s owner, they seemed like they really were expecting this arrival. Was this box that important, even?
Little did Juni know that the package was something secondary for the person on the other side of the door.
Once the door opened, Michiko would, no doubt recognize her cousin donning her usual running clothes; she had worked a bit of a sweat, but that was a given, considering the fifty floors she had climbed to reach this very place. She would also notice how the aqua-haired teen’s usual nonchalant expression faltered as soon as she recognized who was at the other side of the door. Her grip on the package also slipped a bit, even though she could maintain it in the nick of time before something regrettable could occur.
“M-Michi?” She stammered, almost as if needing verbal confirmation that her eyes weren’t deceiving her; it was easy to tell that the girl was visibly shaken for the development. So, doing her best at remaining calm, she set down the package to her side, and without a second thought, enveloped her cousin in a pretty strong hug! Michi would definitely get a bit icky from it, but she’d have to bear with it! It seemed more than evident that Juni wasn’t willing to let go any time soon.
“What’re you doin’ here?” She asked, disbelief evident in her voice. “I thought you were in Korea. Are you on a vacation or somethin’?”
For the time being, the younger teenager wasn’t questioning this arrangement, however.

Of course the package-receiver was anticipating this! Who wouldn't be? Didn't everyone like stuff? Stuff and people, at that! Okay, maybe someone might not like seeing other people. But Michi was excited for it! And moreso, knowing exactly who would be the deliverygirl! In fact, Michi actually had no idea what was in the box. But, that didn't matter so much.
Taking in her cousin's appearance, the silver haired girl tilted her head, smile almost faltering. Why was she so... sweaty? Juni knew there was an elevator, right? Or, was the package so heavy that she worked up a sweat just from carrying it?
Not that there was much time to think on it! Spotting the package beginning to tumble, the girl reached a hand under it, in case it needed caught. But, ultimately, the the aqua-haired girl had caught it in time! To this, Michi couldn't help but give a sigh of relief.
"J-Juni?"
And instead, decided to 'mock' her cousin's inquiry, grinning the whole way. At least, grinning until the hugging commenced! While still a tight hug, there was really no denying that it was sticky. The sweaty kind of sticky! Luckily, with her own workout and dance routines, sweat wasn't really something too off-putting! But, it was still there, and very hard to ignore!
Still, it would be reciprocated! And, luckily, the apartment was air-conditioned. So hopefully, Juni would be able to properly cool off as soon as Michi could get her inside! "I was!" Of course she had been in Korea! Clearly, she wasn't now, though! Prying herself from Juni's sticky-sweaty-ness, Michi gestured to try to get the girl to come inside, despite the mess of boxes and partially assembled furniture.
"Does it look like I'm on vacation?" Luckily, an upbeat tone would probably avoid most chances of this question being taken rudely! "I'm moving here! Duh!" And that comment? That would be flourished with poking her cousin in the forehead. Whether she wanted to be poked or not! "I'm home, Juni!"
Then, there was a small pause, "except I didn't realize how many boxes make a home, and I might need some help unpacking." Was that a hint? It was definitely a hint. But, was Juni willing to help?
"If you help me out, I'll get you a glass of lemonade!" And maybe even tell Juni where the elevator was located, so she wouldn't walk so many stairs next time!

Despite the fact that Junko’s sweaty self had enveloped her cousin’s frame, it was still hard to believe that Michi was here, in the flesh! She almost wanted to pinch herself and check out if this was a dream or not, Luckily, she realized in the nick of time that maybe that would be too much.
It was only then when she realized that hugging another person while sweating mightn’t be that good of an idea. It took her several seconds, but the aqua-haired girl finally regained her composure and undid the gesture. Maybe she had squeezed too hard? Hopefully not! The last thing she wanted was to make the hug even more uncomfortable than what it had been.
For what felt like the first time in literal years, Juni listened to what somebody else had to say without interrupting them or making a sarcastic comment about it. Considering the situation, it was probably fitting! Michi’s own words made her peek through the open door, finally noticing what the short-haired girl referred to. For a moment, Junko pondered if this could really be what she was thinking it was as she slowly came inside and saw all the boxes and everything. She began to get hopeful, even though she didn’t embrace the idea completely until Michi confirmed it with her own words and… a rather cheeky poke on her forehead. Only then a placid, yet satisfied smile took over Juni's features.
“I can’t believe it.” She confessed, even though her tone sounded amused more than anything at the moment. Michi was definitely using the opportunity to tease her, even though this was probably the plan all along! “Why didja decide to come back? What ‘bout your dream? I thought you’d be livin’ in Korea for at least until you got into uni or somethin’.”
Of course, probably a more detailed explanation of why Michi was here instead of pursuing her dream was in order, but overall… “Won’t say I’m not glad to have you back, tho. This is just… a bit too surprisin’, yanno?”
She was still having a hard time taking it in! Who’d have known that such an event would be so impactful in the aqua-haired teenager’s life! It’d take her some time to get used to it, that was for sure.
“But.” One thing seemed to be painfully obvious, even after all this time; her cousin was still as bad at household stuff as always. That actually made Juni smirk. “I guess you can tell me why you’re here while I help ya out with all these boxes ‘n stuff. Lemonde would be pretty nice tho!”
If there was one thing the girl wasn’t missing at the moment, that was vigor! Attribute it to the moment’s high, but she felt like she could climb a mountain right now; setting an apartment up wasn’t that difficult in comparison! So, after leaving her package on the first space she found unoccupied, whether on a table or on a countertop, she rolled up her sleeves and began to work.
“That thing’s supposedly a gift from Mom or somethin’, I guess.” What was inside the package? Truth was, not even Juni knew. “I feel like I should know more ‘bout it, but… I kinda didn’t listen to her. Surprise?”
Typical.

Juni seemed pretty happy, as far as Juni standards went! Or, so Michi thought. Unless Juni was a hugger to everyone. Which was pretty doubtful! But for now, the idol would just give a happy hum, while Juni pondered on the return. "I'm still doing the dream! Just here, and not there," Michi established, with a smile. Did that make enough sense? It was a lot of work to go through the entire rationalization of it! And, maybe a bit lame to say there was some homesickness involved! After all the work she put into the career, there was no way she was going to let people think she was risking losing it!
It couldn't be that hard to slightly shift genres, right?
"It had better not be a bad kind of surprising," the silver haired girl commented, while puffing her cheeks up. It was supposed to be surprising! And Juni was supposed to love it! Even if, knowing Juni, she probably didn't actually like surprises in the slightest!
With successful lemonade-related-bribery, Michi shifted to let Juni enter a bit more easily. Luckily, it would be relatively easy to find a place on the kitchen counter for a package to set! For some reason, Michi had apparently given up on putting utensils on clean spaces, and just left them either in the packaging they were purchased in -- on the floor -- or in moving boxes. Which were also on the floor! The only things actually on the counter were a damp rag, a glass of water, and a store-bought pack of cookies. Clearly, this unpacking thing had been going really well prior to her cousin's arrival! And, apparently, Michi planned on living off of cookies from the nearest convenience store!
"There are two leg-nub-things left to screw into the bottom of the couch, if you wanna do that while I get the drink!" It seemed like a good place to start! Though, was it really considered unpacking? At least it would give them a better place to sit when sorting through things.
Reaching into a box by the sink, the girl extracted a new glass, gave it a quick rinse in the sink, before moving to the fridge to get the promised beverage. "Do you think it's food?" Judging from the tone, Michi really hoped it was food. Maybe not store-bought cookies? Cake? Ice cream?! ...Wait. No. Hopefully not ice cream. If sweaty-Juni was any indicator of the heat outside, the box would be turning to mush soon, if ice cream had been inside! "Hopefully it's not full of embarrassing pictures," she added, after another second. That might actually be worse than melted ice cream!
"Think I should open it now?"
With lemonade poured, the blue-eyed girl offered the glass to her cousin. Maybe, she should have offered a towel to dry the sweat off with, too. Would that be rude? Probably. Almost definitely. Michi probably shouldn't start their reunion off with suggestions of sweat rags. "But yeah! Not a super exciting story for coming back!" She admitted, before anything could accidentally be blurted about towels. "My contract was up, and I could either renew it, or scrap it," she commented, while taking hold of the water that she had left on the counter. "And most of the girls in my group weren't renewing. So I thought, "wouldn't it be super great if I could make it solo?" you know?" Yes. Super great. "But, a lot of Kpop idols fizzle out when they try that. It's an over-saturated market!"
Was she about to go into a ramble? Michi would attempt to keep it as short as possible. It was kind of hard, when passions were being discussed! "And, Jpop is starting to get a bit of a rise in popularity right now, and with Japanese being my first language," she trailed off, figuring it was fairly obvious where the statement was going. "And my manager knew a guy," pause, "girl?" Girl. Probably. Right. Anyway! "Anyway. Manager knew a manager, who's gonna meet with me about getting on my feet here." Was that short enough that Juni hadn't fallen asleep? Michi hoped it was!

In all frankness, Juni didn’t know all too well how the idol thing worked. Could it be done here? Then why had Michi gone to Korea in the first place? Considering the cousins’ situation, there were probably a little more hoops to that statement than what initially said. Sides, it wasn’t like Junko felt like thinking too much at the moment. Granted, that was mostly her default state of being, but that’s a detail.
A genuine smile that lasted about two seconds was flashed at the implication of this surprise being of the bad kind. Typical Michi, wasn’t it? “Sure. Worst surprise. Ever.” She commented, teasingly. It was a bit endearing, yet somewhat hard to believe she still did the puffing her cheeks thing. “It jus’ means I gotta take care of you like before, ain’t I? Hope you’ve been eatin’ well and everythin’ in Korea.”
Typical Juni as well. She was a bit of a health freak, wasn’t she? Or maybe it had to do with the fact that Michiko herself was a bit… prone to like the wrong kind of food. A little too much, at least in her opinion!
Once inside of the apartment, and once the pack of cookies was sighted, Juni began to think that maybe she hadn’t been that far off the mark. But, at the same time… that was kinda the least of her worries. “Wow, Michi.” She looked in every direction and saw how everything was… as disorderly as it could be, more or less. “I thought you were orderin’ this place, yanno? It almost looks like you just survived an earthquake or somethin’.” In a sense, it just meant more work to be done. It wasn’t like a cousin could bail on each other, right? However, that didn’t mean one couldn’t tease the other along the way. “Guess I’ll jus’ get to work.”
Thus, starting from the moment where she rolled her sleeves, the first goal seemed to be getting the couch to work, which meant making it sure it didn’t limp anymore. That was pretty easy.
“It’s probs somethin’ to eat.” Was the answer Michi got from the kitchen. “And somewhat sturdy and heat resistant. Mom knows that I kinda walk pretty much everywhere, so I doubt she’d trust me with somethin’ that needed care to be transported.” That much was true! It’d probably be useless for Juni to lie about who she was. Plus, her mood before arriving at this place had not been the greatest! Luckily, the package hadn’t suffered that. Kinda. Hopefully.
“She probs wants you to open it right now, tho.” Would the silver-haired girl do that? Just in case she did, what she’d find was a pretty nice-looking layered box with all kinds of different candies. On the first layer, the hard candies were layered in a way the message ‘WELCOME BACK’ was formed on it. Pretty nice, wasn’t it?
By the time Michiko was back with the Lemonade, Junko was already hard at work. Truth was that she was already in the process of screwing in the missing legs. It wouldn’t be long enough until she was finished and, once she did, to set down the couch in a —hopefully— unoccupied place for them to both begin to sort things out and for her to drink her lemonade.
When both were, once again, hopefully, seated on the now-complete Couch, Michi would tell the tale of why she decided to come. All in all, it made sense to Juni; then again, pretty much anything would’ve made sense to her since she wasn’t very versed on the idol world. “So, gonna be tryin’ your luck here, huh? That sounds interesting. I’ll be rootin’ for you, then! With any luck, everythin’ will go smoothly.”
For now, though? It seemed like the two —or at least Juni, if Michi felt lazy— had a long day before them. Ordering this apartment was bound to take quite a bit of time!

"Knew it," Michi commented in an accusatory tone. Michi was a terrible surprise! Probably because she came with a lot of effort on Juni's part! ...Except the surprise was actually great, and the silver haired girl knew it. Fact! And another fact? "I'm grown up! You don't gotta take care of me!" Okay, maybe that 'fact' was a little questionable. Especially with the fidgeting that the girl was doing. "I totally eat great," she insisted. Surely, her countertop-cookies wouldn't give away this lie moments later! "Sweet potatoes count as eating well, right?" They were totally healthy! ...At least, Michi thought.
Now that she had said it aloud, she was second-guessing herself a bit! It was better than junk food though, right?
Once inside, the girl was already preoccupied with lemonades and boxes of mystery product within moment, and didn't bother looking up at the comment on the state of her apartment. "I'm totally ordering it!" She insisted, with a tiny huff. "I started on the bedroom first, you know? It's most important to have all my stuff for sleeping ready first!" Mostly because there was no way she was going to want to set up any of that at the end, when she was already tired!
But, it would really be best if Juni didn't look in Michi's room. By 'starting,' she definitely didn't mean it was tidy! More or less, it was just enough to be able to comfortably sleep, while ignoring that most of her clothes were still scattered about and definitely not in their designated places! "Also," she added in a faux whiny tone, "it's really hard to get all the stuff done alone!"
Motivation about things like this wasn't really Michi's strong suit. Especially when she could get distracted with things she liked more! Her cell phone was, admittedly, a pretty big culprit in this issue!
Once lemonade was handed off, and Michi had gotten a drink of water, she decided to peek into the box. And once she had done that? There was a small squeal as the teen bounced, latching onto the box, and spun to hurry toward Juni. Mid-step, she spun and scurried back to the counter, where in her excitement, she had practically thrown her glass of water, to carefully-but-far-too-energetically snatch the item back up. Still hugging the box as tightly as she could, while holding her cup by its rim, she'd shuffle back to the couch.
Luckily, there would be plenty of space for the couch to be set, considering it had already occupied a decent amount of the room without its legs! And, once Juni was sitting on it, Michi shuffled to put her glass on the floor, and then flopped down on the cushion beside her cousin. "Juni-Juni-Juni," she uttered, in a loud whisper. "Look-it what she sent!" Tilting the box, it would put the candy in full display for the teal haired teen.
Blue eyes were as wide as saucers, while she quietly added, "it's candy."
Oh no. Juni's healthy-eating-concerns were probably about to shoot through the roof!
"Actually! This reminds me of when we were little, and you'd stuff your bags full of snacks," Michi added after another second, in a far more normal voice. Maybe the excitement had settled slightly, now that her hand was inside the box, and she was very clearly trying to get the biggest handful of candies that she could! Some things never changed. "That was so great."
Instead of unwrapping and inhaling them all, however, the girl dropped the handful into her lap, unwrapping a piece of candy and putting it into her mouth, while leaning to grab a nearby box. It seemed to be a variety of decorations and baubles, along with random paperwork that Michi totally hadn't just jammed into all the crevices to avoid breaking things. Hopefully, the papers were nothing important!
"Yeah! I think it's gonna go really well!" Was that just blind optimism, or did Michi really think that? Well, she wasn't really the type to spontaneously throw her entire career down the drain with a majorly reckless move! "And, I've got you for support! Right?" Trick question, Juni! There's only one right answer!
And, of course, more questions to follow. "What've you been up to, though? Tell me everything!"

The current exchange almost felt as if the two girls hadn’t spent any time separated at all. How fast they were back to their old antics was nothing short of amazing. Of course, that had a good and a bad side.
“Eatin’ great, huh?” Suspicion was more than evident on Juni’s tone. Suspicions that were kind of confirmed when Michi’s resolve faltered. “I guess you could say so. As long as sweet potatoes ain’t the only healthy thing you eat, y’know?” That’d entail a pretty risky starch intake, after all! Couldn’t be good.
It came without saying Juni’s comments were half-serious at best. It was all in good fun! Was there a better way to receive a friend’s arrival than to tease them a bit? Probably not.
In the spirit of that, the aqua-haired girl couldn’t but chuckle at her cousin’s attempt to defend herself. “I was there when you said the exact same phrase to Uncle 'n Aunt long ago, y’know? I remember them being not very hype about what they saw.” Poor Michi. Would she ever be given a break?
Maybe in a bit! It wasn’t precisely a hard card to play, but invoking the fact that moving on her own was probably a task easier said than done made Juni relent. A bit. “Guess that’s why Mom was so pushy about me wanting to come here asap. And I just thought she was bein’ particularly annoyin’ or somethin’, really.”
She didn’t need to spell out that she’d help with the move; it was obvious enough as it was, anyway. “Where are Uncle 'n Aunt, tho? Are they still in Korea?” Considering that they weren’t helping their daughter with the move, that meant that they were either testing her maturity or… just couldn’t be bothered. Junko didn’t know which one was more likely, in all honesty!
Even despite the years, some things were just fated to remain the same. Like Michi’s sweet tooth! Her whole reaction was pretty nostalgic; it almost felt like the two were five or so years again. A pretty big grin took over Juni’s features right now.
“Guess she thought you’d still like those.” It probably came as no surprise that she tried to take a handful of candy as well. She could use them as much as her cousin!
“Right?” Likewise, it was pretty obvious that she was already eating them! “T’was pretty fun back then, wasn’t it?” Nevermind the fact that they got in all kinds of troubles thanks to the combination of their hyperactive imaginations. But that was a small detail. “Mom used to say we were a pair of sunekosuri, remember? Coulda gone with somethin’ easier to understand for me back then, tho.”
A chuckle followed that statement. Quite the fond memory, looking back. And, at the very least, it seemed like Michi had a plan on her own. Nothing less to be expected, considering that this was her dream, after all. Regarding how the teenager had been figuratively cornered by a simple question, she couldn’t help but to shrug.
“I mean, sure.” She answered, a bit dubiously. “No idea how I can help an aspiring idol when my singin’ voice sucks, but you can count on me. It’s gotta work, right?” In all frankness, Juni wasn’t very sure of that herself. “Guess I can help you settin’ this place up, at least.”
Something that she seemed to be pretty adept at doing. It’d probably take the two of them a bit to leave this place in a livable condition, but it was slowly getting there at least.
With the first part of the conversation finished, the questions took a full turn, and now Junko found herself in the receiving end of Michiko’s. What had been of her life all this time?
“Well…” In all honesty, her life probably hadn’t been as exciting. “I’m kind of a jock now or somethin’. Guess I’m good enough at swimmin’ that this fancy school in Tokyo wanted me there. And I kinda needed a breather from Osaka, y’know? Things were getting a lil’ dicey there. So that’s why we decided to move in with Mom. She got a pretty dece job as well; peeps from Shueisha were pretty happy with her work 'n now she’s gettin’ published in Ribon. Kinda neat, ain’t it? But other than that, everythin’s like it’s always been.”
Overall, a comfortable lifestyle, if one decided to omit certain details that Michi was probably more than aware of. All in all, Juni couldn’t complain a lot at the moment. Admittedly, setting this messy apartment up was definitely the biggest challenge she had in recent times! At least things were going more or less smoothly about it.
“Any plans you’ve got for Tokyo sides becomin’ a J-Pop star? Like, any specific school y'wanna attend or maybe sports? I have no idea how much time per day the idol thing takes.”
Time would pass by as the two slowly catched up. Honestly, Juni thought she could get used to this.

It looked like Michi's plan to convince her cousin of her fabulous eating habits might be in vain. Scrunching her face, the silver-haired girl looked at the ceiling, "I mean, chicken is healthy and sweet potatoes go well with chicken, so..?" Even Michi failed to convince herself here! But, at least she had gone with a meat product, instead of talking about how sweet potatoes were great followed with chocolate cake! Then again, most things were great when cake followed it.
Cheeks puffed as the teasing continued, trying to think of the best way to escape it. Except nope, there really was no escape. Juni was in her house. It was game over for her! Which was actually totally fine, because it also meant Juni was in her house and she had someone to help her unpack things! And Juni's mom had been super helpful in making it happen!
As far as her own parents, though? "Oh! Yeah! Dad's got some work there that he wants to finish," she confirmed after a moment. "And they really like it in Korea, I guess? I'm not actually for-sure that they're coming back!" Yet, they'd let their daughter move to a separate country? Regardless, Michi didn't seem too concerned. Maybe her parents were waiting to make sure that she didn't decide that K-Pop life was more ideal that J-Pop life. It was probably the smartest thing, really. At least video-chats were far more possible in Japan, than they ever were with her last contract! "I'll totally call them after we unpack, and you can say hi!" Again, of course, under a video chat so they could see all Juni's the girls' hard work!
With candy-in-lap, Michi definitely let Juni take as much as she wanted. After all, the idol couldn't eat it all by herself! Even with a huge sweet tooth! "She was so right," the girl commented through a mouthful of candy. Surely, the sugar would provide them with enough energy to power through this task! "Or easier to pronounce!" It was really hard to find out what sunekosuri were, when it was impossible to even repeat the word! Tough stuff, for small children!
"As long as you're there, that's all I need!" And a short pause, "and as long as you're here, helping me unpack," she added, far more quietly. Luckily, Juni had already volunteered for that 'difficult' task!
What was this about swimming, though? "You? A jock?" Why was that so hard to believe? Juni was always full of energy! Why wouldn't she use that to her advantage? "That's super neat for Aunty, though!" Surely, aunty thought it was more than just super neat! "What do you mean with 'dicey,' though?" Had she missed more than just the jock thing? Hopefully not too much! But asking would surely be the only way to find out!
But, beyond J-Pop, did the girl really have any plans here? "You know," she started, in a similar tone to the topic of sweet potatoes equating to healthy eating, "I actually haven't thought that part out!" Really, Michi? Move all the way back here, without fully thinking things through? "I got the J-Pop thing lined up. I'm not so sure about schools, though! I didn't really have time!" Which, probably would make it unsurprising for her next statement, "I probably won't really have time for any sports, though. The idol thing takes up a ton of time! With practicing and meeting people and doing stuff." Way to be vague! In all fairness, Juni's eyes would have probably glazed over after two examples, anyway!

Michi definitely didn’t know what fights to pick, did she? Juni couldn’t help but to smirk mischievously at how it looked like not even the girl herself believed her argument. “Uh-huh. Sure it is.” Luckily, chocolate cake wasn’t mentioned there.
So, they had sent her to Japan on her own? It was true that Michi’s parents were the support-y, let-my-daughter-have-her-own-space type, but wasn’t this just a tad irresponsible? Considering how much of a handful the two girls are had been on their younger days, how their ‘base of operations’ had been Michi’s home and how both uncle and aunt had been pretty supportive regarding their daughter’s ‘independence’... this didn’t come as much of a surprise. Still a bit of an eyebrow-raiser, but it wasn’t like Juni would argue this decision.
A nod was given in response to such a cheerful statement. It wasn’t like it was her job to worry about the adults, right? “Sounds good. Haven’t seen them in a hot minute.” She liked to think of aunt and uncle almost as if they were an additional set of parents; she sure had spent almost as much time in their house than in her own back in the day! The fact that her mom was —and still kinda is— an overworked mangaka didn’t help a lot, for sure!
It was quite ironic how, despite the fact that the aqua-haired girl had thoroughly criticized her cousin’s eating habits, the two were now filling their mouths with candy. It didn’t look anyone would complain about that, though! “I know, right? I never got the word right back then. And I think y’even got tongue-tied once! T’was pretty fun.”
While traversing nostalgia lane was something that Juni didn’t mind doing on the slightest, Michi had made it pretty clear that the two had work to do. Oh well, at least it pretty was flattering to hear that her presence and aptitude at moving heavy stuff around was all that was needed from her. Would it really come as a surprise that she’d excel at sports? Apparently for Michi, it did.
Juni couldn’t help but to grin. Standing up, she flexed for a short moment, something that looked way better in her mind than outside of it.. “Of course! You’re lookin’ at the next national swimmin’ champion! Been doin’ well in the inter-school competitions thus far, but I feel like I can take the whole thing this year.” Pause. Of course the whole conversation wouldn’t be about her. “And yeah. Mom’s pretty stoked ’bout ‘how her talents ’r finally bein’ recognized’ y’know? She says she likes her current workplace, even tho I think she’s more overworked and has even more deadlines than before. But as long as she’s happy...”
The mood dropped right afterward, even if for a second. It was kinda the teenager’s own fault, wasn’t it? In any case. “Well.” Juni’s usual tone was kinda awkward at the moment. Still Michi needed to know, didn’t she. “I… kinda stumbled onto my dad. And he ended up bein’ the biggest fucker on this side of the planet, more ’r less. Part of why I’m here’s cuz I kinda dun wanna see his ugly mug ever again. That’s the gist of it.”
Some anger was evident in her voice, and unconsciously the girl’s body had tensed and her hands had clenched rather aggressively, but what else could be expected. A couple of seconds had to pass for her to relax, and after a deep breath, her tone went back to normal.
Luckily, most of the following conversation would be pretty lighthearted. Michi wasn’t really the best planner out there, wasn’t she? “I’m kinda wonderin’ what uncle ’n aunt were thinkin’ about when they decided t’send you ’ere on your own. Guess I’m jus’ gonna have to visit ya every day t’make sure this place ain’t on fire or somethin’.”
Idol life seemed like a true slog, but at least Juni was able to see the proverbial silver lining between what seemed like a pretty boring routine. “Wouldn’t it be pretty nice if we went to the same school? Could be classmates ’n stuff!” Considering how Michi’s out-of-school life seemed like a pretty hectic thing, school seemed like a pretty nice place for them to spend some time together.
By now, and thanks to the combined efforts of both teens, the apartment was looking way better. They’d probs leave the thing in a habitable state pretty soon!

It was probably best that Juni didn't overly question the lack of parental guidance in Japan. After all, that would have risked being called things like 'worrywart' and probably a lot of pouting. Michi was totally adult material by now, right? She was a whole seventeen years old! That was a totally responsible age for someone to live on their own! Probably, at least.
"I bet they'll be ultra hyped to see you!" Just like Michi was ultra-hyped! Despite being ultra-sick of unpacking! At least memory-lane wasn't such a bad way to distract oneself from the work that had to be put into the apartment's current state. And candy. Candy was a great motivator. Though, talk of the past would have to catch up to the present eventually! Like Juni's sportiness! Watching her cousin flex, the teen feigned awe, with a gasp and small amount of clapping. "You can do it!" Did Michi understand a single thing about swimming and competitions involving it? Not in the slightest! It was a wonder that Michi could even swim, considering how little she knew on the sports-side of it! "Can I go to the competitions?" Was this a sport that actually involved spectators? Well, all sports had viewers there, right? Logically. Either way, Michi wanted to do her best to support her cousin!
Maybe, Michi just wanted to support everyone. Like her aunt! "That's exciting for Aunty, too!" And then, added, "sometimes it's super satisfying to work really hard for what you're doin', you know?" Swimming was probably super hard, too! Juni surely understood!
Then again, how much hard work had Juni put into meeting her dad, just to have an utter letdown? The silver-haired girl's face dropped, hearing that the encounter had been less than less-than ideal. Yes, so bad that it required two 'less-thans' to be stated! With a grave expression, the teen felt far too compelled to respond with, "you need me to fight him, Juni?" Not that she could. She had no idea who the guy even was, and it sounded like she really didn't want to! So instead, she resorted to a better offer. "I think, we should order a bunch of delivery foods, and you can eat away your memories of him!" Best solution! Or, it was in Michi's eyes. They could even order desserts!
Hopefully Juni had no problems with her cousin invading her personal space, though. The tension was way too obvious! To the point that the idol had to move to reach over, and put her hands on her cousin's shoulders. And, after a second? Massage them. Because, aside from food, massages were a great way to relieve stress. Unless Juni hated food and shoulder rubs. Then, Michi was going to run out of solutions really fast!
"You need to visit every day!" Michi agreed, with a grin. Blue eyes glanced at the ceiling, before she leaned forward, looking back to Juni. "Or, like, you could just live here, you know?" Was that too ambitious? Would Juni take the offer seriously? Or think it was a joke?
There was a pretty smart question to ask, though, at the thought of schools! "Is your school very close to here?" It would be great if they could be classmates! And, it would be even greater if Juni was swayed more toward actually taking the 'live here' offer seriously, in the case that school was close!

Imagine Juni, of all things, being called a worrywart; definitely something that could only happen when it came to Michi! But, could she be accounted for that? Definitely not. She was free of any and all blame. She said so herself. “I’m kinda hype t’see ’em myself, not gonna lie.” A small smile made its way towards her face. “Are they still t’same as always? Wonder if they changed any.”
Probably might’ve been slightly better if the awe wasn’t feigned, but the teenager herself wasn’t in the position to complain about any kind of praise. “Of course I can!” She answered confidently. Second to being angry at everyone and everything, exercising and practicing was the thing anyone could count on Juni to do pretty much constantly.
What about Michi wanting to go to them, though? That was something a bit unexpected! Up to the point the girl was a bit taken aback. “I-I mean.” It took her a bit to get her bearings back. “’S long as ye don’t mind bein’ surrounded by peeps cheerin’ for literally ’vryone else, guess thas fine.”
A brand-new experience. Having somebody other than occasional Mom cheering on her would surely feel nice. Sure, most of it was muffled because trying to hear and being underwater simply didn’t mix well, but the intent was what counted! That was more than enough, in all frankness. Speaking of mom, though… “Yeah. Nevermind the fact that she hardly sleeps ’n drinks her weight on coffee everyday; I’ve seen her draw with more vigor the last couple of weeks than most of the time we’ve been t’Osaka combined. Good t’see her bein’ happy as well, y’know?”
It’d be great if that didn’t incur into a nasty episode, but Juni could only hope that things would get more relaxing for Aoi down the line. The older woman wasn’t the type that fancied working endless hours, so her daughter hoped that’d end at some point. And hopefully before a karoshi episode or some shit happened. That’d legitimately be the worst.
But those were worrywart issues, weren’t they? It might’ve been a not-so-bad thing in hindsight that her mind went from worrying about her good parent to not giving a crap about her shitty one. There was also a certain… endearment? Towards her cousin’s words. She wasn’t even sure on how to respond! “Nah. Dun worry ’bout it. I kinda considered doin’ that when I met ’im, y’know? But…” Making an analogy for this situation was surprisingly hard. She seemed strangely pensive for a second before resuming. “I realized it’s kinda like, kickin’ a garbage bag. What if it jus’ breaks and ya get yer foot covered in the stuff. Disgustin’, if ya ask me.”
Apt enough? For Juni, it surely was! Just like the idea of getting delivery food; that surely sounded like a better alternative to having Michi fight somebody whose face she really didn’t want to see ever again. “Ya got it. Wouldn’t mind me some dinner once we get the apt in more ’r less decent shape.” She gazed down to her clothes and hands for a second, before adding. “’N a shower, probs. Bet I’m lookin’ like a mess right now.”
Not like it was expected for her to look prim and proper while lifting heavy objects and moving them around, right? That was a borderline impossible task, after all! It was only then when, in a gesture the aqua-haired girl didn’t expect, Michi began to… give her a massage? “Wha-” Even if she felt a mix of surprise, perplexion, and maybe even a bit of hostility at the sudden touch, her body managed to relax to it pretty quickly. Which… didn’t mean the idol would have an easy job, mind you; Juni’s shoulders were so stiff that the impromptu masseuse could probably question if she was touching actual shoulders or a rocky formation.
Was that sudden gesture a way to get in her cousin’s good graces? Not like she needed to do that, even though the following offering managed to take her by surprise as well! She remained still for a second before sighing, and then, she smirked… somewhat sadly. “T’was your plan all along, wasn’t it?” She asked, a bit rhetorically; Juni knew —or at least, she thought she did— Michi enough to know when she was offering something for serious, and this one didn’t seem like a joke. “I’d love to, but… yanno I’m broke asf, right? There’s no way I could pay for the rent of a fancy place like this one, even if it’s half, or even a tenth of it. I really don’t wanna be a freeloadin’ pain in the ass, y’know?”
It wasn’t hard to guess the girl’s shoulders had stiffened even more after those words. As nice as living together would be, things were never that easy, were they? Leeching off her cousin could potentially cause a lot of unneeded friction, and Juni didn’t feel like that was something she wanted in her life. “School’s at walking distance, tho. Thas pretty nice, if ya ask me.”
That was almost said as an afterthought, but could she really be blamed? This situation was… a bit distressing for her, and that was to say the least.

Did her parents change? That was hard to say. The young idol cupped her chin, while giving a pensive stare. "Not really, I don't think!" She announced, after another moment of mulling. It was hard to see people change, when you spent so much time with them! "Oh!" Thumping one fist on top of her open palm, it was like a lightbulb went off! "Dad's got some gray hair! Does that count?" Better than balding, at least! "It's all streaky and stuff, but he says it makes him look refined." Of course, this was ended with a small giggle. It was no surprise that Michi wouldn't be able to associate her own dad with the term refined! He was just dad!
But was Juni really going to think that cheering people would deter Michi, of all people? Just because Juni might not be the fan favorite? After a moment of vacant expressions and blinking, the silverhaired girl seemed to perk up, as a realization came to her. "Does that mean I'm gonna be your number one fan?" Oh yes! She was totally up for this role! She'd be the best fan that Juni could ever have!
Maybe she should print shirts with Juni's name on it, to embarrassingly wear to the swim meets! That'd be priceless!
The comparison between a dad and a garbage bag was certainly an interesting visual, though! "Man, now I get why Aunty didn't wanna talk 'bout him." It made her almost feel like a jerk for all the times they tried to unlock the mystery of Juni-Dad! This sucked!
At least food would destroy the suckiness of this conversation! "Sounds like a plan!" Still, Michi would give a shrug to the next statement. "I've seen worse, but I've prob'ly got some comfy clothes you can wear after your shower, so you don't need to sit in more sweat." In a box. Somewhere. Luckily, Juni and Michi were similar sizes, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find something!
It was pretty obvious Michi couldn't care less about Juni-frumpy-mode, though, since she was offering massages! Though, jeez, Juni was so tense that the silver haired teen had to wonder how her cousin moved. It didn't discourage the girl, though! "What are you, a rock?" Not to be mistaken with The Rock.
But soon, she was being called out for her sneaky attempts to steal her cousin away forever. A sly smile graced the girl's lips, while listening to Juni's reasoning as to why she couldn't ever live in the apartment. "But Juni, there's a hot tub on the main floor." Wow, what an incentive, right?
In all seriousness, though! "Sheesh. You have like, no faith, you know?" This time, it was Michi calling Juni out! "I can afford this apartment just fine, I wasn't askin' you for rent money!" With a small, but dramatic, roll of the eyes, she added, "I'm smart 'nough not to get someplace I can't afford by myself!" Was Juni really afraid of freeloading, though? Could Michi think of a fair middleground? "You can, like, make dinner most nights or something, if you want to? That way, you're helping out and making sure that I'm not living off sweet potatoes!" Because, it was probably becoming progressively more obvious that Michi's go-to was potatoes. "And you can help," there was a pause, while Michi was clearly grasping at straws, "do stuff, you know?" Yes. Stuff. Super important stuff! Totally convincing!
Plus, school was nearby! "And you don't have to pay a ton on public transport to school, then!" See? The bonuses were piling up! Juni would surely find it hard to say no, soon enough! Michi just knew it!

It seemed like uncle and aunt were just the same old as always. In a sense, that was a relief! Some things were better if they didn’t change. “Gray hair, huh? Bet he thinks that’s super cool.” Uncle had always been like that, but that was a good thing, in Juni’s eyes! Sometimes, she wished she could be as easy-going as him. Alas, that was nothing short of utterly impossible. In the end, the teenager guessed that her cousin was… right? It was weird logic, but it made sense. “Guess ya would? Bein’ the only one also means ya’re the number one.” Was enough reason for her to be concerned about the whole deal? Probably, but it’d be fine! What harm could Michi do, in all honesty? Pretty much the most harmless person she’s ever met. It was pretty hard to not nod pretty affirmatively to the silver-haired teen’s comment. “Right? I kinda wonder how or why she got ’nvolved with such a shitstain, but I thought it woulda been pointless to ask. Some things’re better off forgotten, I guess.” Morbid curiosity aside, Juni herself didn’t want to be associated with that man for the rest of her life, if she could have a say in that. Of course, food was an entirely different matter! Or getting a fresh change of clothes after getting rid of all the sweat the aqua-haired girl was carrying with her person. “Man. It’s been a while since I’ve used yer clothes, hasn’t it? Remember when we used t’trade back then? Then our parents forced us to return everythin’ where it belonged. Fun times, weren’t they?” While a normal person would’ve probably called out Michi for being the rude person she was being right now, her cousin just snickered, somewhat entertained. “Mighta gone a bit overboard with my exercisin’.” She admitted, even though she didn’t sound too guilty about the fact. “Wouldn’t mind bein’ a rock tho.” She made a pause after that comment, regretting it the next moment. “Nah, better not. Rocks’re bad at swimmin’.” Breaching the housing topic was definitely not a smooth conversation, but one that happened nonetheless. She attempted to stifle a giggle at the hot tub comment. This was a serious conversation, darnit! “It ain’t like I’ve got no faith, yanno? It’s just that I’d feel bad leeching off ya. But…” This was such a nice opportunity to pass up, and in Michi language, she was pretty much being forced to accept. The fact that she was grasping for reasons made it super evident. “If ya’re gonna go so far and if it ain’t a problem, lemme check real quick with mom, kay?” If Michi was curious enough, she’d probably be able to spot the following exchange across several minutes by peering over Juni’s shoulder. Being where she was could be quite handy! sup mom
how ya doin’ doin’ nice how did things at michi’s go pretty deece and? and wat? ya never message watcha want spit it out alrdy can I move with her? rly? y she fine with it? y u? y aight hope ya take care n stuff be a dece human n don’t be a pain to her yea dun worry kay ya have til tomorrow night to get yer shit outta my house wat its a msg ya can reread it if u wanna kay…?
thx mom u r welcome sweetie have a nice time “Welp.” It was weird, but Juni was kind of at a loss at the moment. “Typical mom, don’t ya think? Guess we’re roomies from now on.” The teenager knew that she should feel happy, but the exchange had been so strange that she was still processing it it. What a weird parent.
