Home is Where the Heart Lies (Syre's Family)

Again, Cion found it difficult to not submit to her partner's perfectly wonderful caresses. The mix of playfulness and genuine affection Syre carried herself with during these acts was enchanting to say the least. Furthermore, to know that someone she cherished cared so much for her, and was not hesitant to show this openly, was balm for her scarred soul. Mere weeks ago, she had considered the idea of anyone tending to her in such an endearing manner a fatuous dream. But here she was, though unassertive as to not push their relationship too hard on the others, relishing every second and deed of fondness that she was granted. The moment they were anew in intimate togetherness, she would make sure to return it in kind.
However, for now it was this home where their hearts had to lie, not solely with each other. Heeding the esteemed doctor's words and accepting his desire to seek out the lupiform paladin himself, she nodded softly and let him go. Hopefully, she had not been the cause for concern. Moreover, she desired them to be solved. But as of yet, this was not her endeavor to worry about. Instead, following the brief silence, she continued to enjoy the amicable banter with her darling and Holly.
Speaking of the latter, the concept of the Dark Area having a bistro, or any form of proper civilization for that matter, was almost perplexing to the silver fennec. She had heard of individuals aspiring to rectify this tainted realm, but to learn that this undertaking had apparently yielded results was verily surprising, if not astonishing. Perhaps it was true that nothing was set in stone after all, for was she not the best example for this statement? "Splendid. I shall remember your recommendation. Thanks." She calmly and somewhat chummily expressed her appreciation for this reference.
Although for today, they had a different wish that needed their attention. Fortunately, the onyx feline had recalled their 'justifications' to meet up again so soon. Games, conversations, cooking... so incredibly simple, yet so entertaining! "Lovely! Shall we prepare something then? A hot dessert seems appropriate for the weather, but it's still forenoon, and surely you already had breakfast. Hmm..."

At least for the moment, Syre didn't worry herself too much about Silence, or whatever was going on outside. This wasn't the first time that the Shutmon had headed out into a storm, and she definitely had the build and the fur to handle it for a few hours. Maybe Silence and Mikemon would head out to town, or head back inside in just a few minutes.
For now, Syre's ear gave a flick as Holly mentioned a bistro... out in the Dark Area? "Huh... studying in the Dark Area, Holly? Is that the place near Fragment Village you were talking about?" The BlackGatomon tilted her head. "Well, if you're recommending it, we'll keep it in mind. But, you know, try and not get into stuff that might be a little over your head?"
Oh, who was Syre kidding. Holly was going to do that anyway!
And it didn't take long for the three of them to settle on what to do next - and, really, what Syre was looking forward to from the start! Hearing Cion's slight reservation about eating so soon after breakfast, the BlackGatomon gave a small shrug. "Well, there's nothing wrong with a little indulgence now and then. Honestly, a dessert sounds like a good idea - most of my cooking's been with pots and stove-tops, so it would be a nice change of pace to try and bake something. How about..."
She mulled it over for a second. "Oh, pie? Something good when its hot, and can still be nice when its been chilled for a bit! Mm, we should still have apples, but I can swing a quick portal out to Whitewater to get some fresh fruit if we need something else..." The cat mulled it over, but regardless, it wouldn't take long for her to lead into the kitchen - a standard, homely one that one would find in a 'normal' home. Hardly professional, but then again, none in the family were professional cooks!
"Let's see..." A bit of a loss as to where to start, Syre's first instinct was to consult a cookbook. Unlike with a stew or a chili, the cat didn't know how to 'wing' this one, yet! "..."
Outside, seeing Silence lean against the fence at the edge of the yard, Mikemon found himself giving a silent sigh. He'd step up, and climb up one of the more sturdy posts, before sitting a few feet to the right of the Shutmon. His eyes looked out to town, seeing the snow start to accumulate on the slanted roofs there once more.
His ear flicked as Silence opened that flask, but he didn't remark on it. Instead, he listened, looking to the wolf from the corner of his eye as she expressed her concerns.
"Its a first for me, too. Guess it never occurred to me that Syre could eventually settle down with someone." He gave a sigh, scratching his nose with the back of his glove. "And I guess it never occurred to me that Syre would have a better handle on this 'love' thing than I ever did."
"Because yeah... I agree, we rushed." His words were level and calm, not arguing about that fact at all. "We had a few dates out in the town with the bars, but I think we just settled in like this was how it was 'supposed' to be, I guess." But for them to be talking about it like this at all - there was still a spark somewhere there.
They cared enough to try and make something from what they had. "As for not having a clue, don't worry - I hardly had one with Syre and Holly. Had to pick up most of it as I went. For now, though, how about we try to get to know each-other a bit? I mean, when's your next day off?"

”It’s in the village kinda, a lot of twists n turns! It was really good and the mon there is very nice once you get to know him! Oh uh… well. My Professor told me that if I’m to go into the dangerous locales I’m supposed to report directly to a luminas subsidiary that way they can protect me during gathering phases? So I’ve had an angewoman or the like following me around like a hawk when I go out…”
Holly sighed and shook her head; she could handle herself if something went down. Her last event had proved to herself she could but that didn’t matter. Her professor had told her exactly what she needed to do in the situation and she had followed it to a T…
She’d follow after syre and tilted her head as they went into the kitchen. Flicking her ears forward as cion seemed to be up for her reccomendation as well. Even to the cooking! This was nice and the meicrackmon couldn’t help but chuckle softly. These two really hit it off huh?
”A pie would work buuut syre~”
Holly grinned and would pull out of her bag a very particular cook book. Something the both of them had and something the both of them knew. While syre’s had a different binding than hers did; it was still the same book at it’s core. A little cook book straight from K!
”These were always so good right?”
Including a pie section that they could look at; they wouldn’t know it but it also held a lot of recipes from K’s mother or rather their unknown grandmother!
Silence stared out at the storm, taking a drink from her coffee and grimacing as the tastes seemed to clash. She couldn’t help but sigh as mikemon spoke. Yeah this was a first for the two of them and they didn’t know what to do. Having a daughter that was better about the love stuff probably didn’t help and the shutmon flicked an ear.
”Daughters. I’m pretty sure holly is smitten with whoever is out in the dark area. You remember that poloroid camera she used to take pictures of everyone? Think it was for them.”
Silence rubbed at her muzzle, to them maybe it wouldn’t be cause for concern or alarm. Holly doing strange things was kinda the norm to be honest. And hearing that Mikemon agreed that they rushed only made silence feel like she fucked up more.
”Can we really call those dates? All we did was drink and chat about what we had been up to. Unless that’s how dates work? I’ve… I don’t really have anything to go off with them to be honest.”
Silence sighed a bit and rubbed at her neck; flicking her ears this way or that as mikemon went on about how he didn’t have a clue for holly or syre. She imagined that the both of them didn’t resent that at all and were fine with it… Given that the both of them turned out extremely well. She’d blink and look to him as he suggested something she wasn’t expecting. It made her core twinge and she’d smile softly, reaching over to rub at the top of the mikemon’s head.
”I go on patrol tomorrow in the Blossom Isles. It’s a newer less locale so they’re sending someone strong that isn’t swamped by paperwork. Or rather someone that isn’t already on patrol tomorrow anyways. After that I’m off for…”
She’d draw out a small book, flipping through it and blink slowly.
”Oh. Seems I’m off for a week or so? But then I’ve got a patrol stint elsewhere. What about you? How’s your schedule looking?”
She’d snap the book shut and smile at mikemon; sipping at her coffee and letting out a small somewhat disgusted face. She had gotten down to where the grounds were and oh boy was that bitter...

Verily so - there was indeed nothing wrong with a little indulgence every now and then. Besides, after the slightly strenuous voyage to reach this remote location, her digital equivalent of blood sugar certainly made her crave something hearty and substantial to feast on. Constantly sustaining a restrained variant of her apex form added to her energy consumption, making her surprisingly edacious for a digimon of her petite stature. It was an aspect of her which her darling could confirm, though she took no shame in it. Few things in life were as pleasurable as a wholesome meal!
Soon, the feminine trio found themselves in the local kitchen, which provided them the mess kits they required to start their hobby confectionery. Additionally, it seemed as if both Syre and Holly agreed on the idea of baking a variety of cake or pie, but they had no decided on the recipe as of yet. Pastries would not have been Cion's first choice, but there were definitely upsides. Plenty of time was needed to do the deed, meaning their enjoyment would last a while. Second, they had innumerable options and possibilities at their disposal. Lastly, their product was likely to satisfy everyone in sheer volume.
Bringing a paw to her chin, the silver fennec softly scratched it, seemingly lost in contemplation. Nonetheless, her aureate eyes shifted to inspect the cookery book which was brought forth by the jolly Meicrackmon. Naturally, she had no association nor ties with its origin and contents, hence she remained calm and composed. However, she did not wish to simply stand there and let events unfold without at least her input.
"If you say they are good then I of course trust your call. But if we lack the ingredients, or the skill, then I know how to make a rather delightful Cheese Cream Gateau. Simple, but certainly exquisite." She spoke kindly, hoping that her contribution, if it was used or not, was appreciated. Regardless, skimming the tome was by far not ill-advised.

"Mm... well, at least you're staying safe about it, Holly. And I guess we'll have to check it out, sometime!" Well, maybe - there was probably a few more details to iron out about that, but she wasn't opposed to the idea. Unlike her sister or her date, Syre did feel relatively comfortable in the air of the Dark Area - even if the locale could be somewhat aggressive.
It took the three a while to settle on something. Syre suggested pie, Holly produced an older cookbook, and Cion mentioned something about 'Gateau'. To Holly's suggestion, Syre's ear gave a flick - and she gave a wide smile as she saw that binding. "Oh, how could I forget about that!" Her expression beamed, a wide smile given as she looked at those carefully handwritten pages. There was definitely a lot of love and care put into this.
As Cion made her suggestion, Syre found herself giving a smile. "Gateau... that's like a cake, right?" A light and airy cake, with thick, decadent dressing. The cat didn't want to toss out her date's idea, but by the bright look on Syre's face when she saw that cookbook, it was probably clear where her heart was on this: "Heh... you'll have to teach me that one sometime. But for now, I want to try one of these... oh, she did put something down for apple pie!"
That she did - and what was here was something that was different than the classic cookbook. "Let's see... steps for the crust, the filling... even caramel for the topping..." Wait, was this really mom's writing? Honestly, Syre didn't recall her having much of a sweet tooth - but for now, Syre wasn't complaining! "Looks like we'd need to start out with what needs to go in the oven, and then get the stove-top stuff ready as that's going. Holly, do we have vanilla?" "Sheesh, Holly too..."
Mikemon shook his head, giving a small chuckle as he considered that. Not one, but both of them... and what about Siris? Somehow, the doctor doubted it - but he didn't expect it for Holly, either. He gave a curious blink as Silence gave that second comment, though: "I mean, that's sort of what dates are. I wouldn't say they were big ones, but we did get to know each-other, right?"
And that was what dates were for - at least in part. But that Silence didn't see them as dates, well, maybe there was something just a bit off here. Maybe they needed a real, more substantial 'date' to really let the two try each-other out. Thankfully, the schedules seemed to line up well enough: "I can get a few days off in the next few weeks - I don't have a surgery or anything to prep for, anyway. So... I can rent out a condo in a major city, and we can just get a half-day or a few days off and just... well. We'll get the details sorted out after your patrol, I guess?"
It seemed easy enough. He'd give a smile, and gently rest a hand on Silence's shoulder.
"... If you let your fur get too wet out here, you're just going to regret it later, hun."

”Well that and the bistro owner would probably be upset with me if I was off being stupid too. Can’t eat more of that cooking if I get had by some D-reaper or something…”
Holly flicked through the pages of the little cook book that she had drawn out; honestly it was something she was looking forward to sharing with the other siblings they inevitably would have around. She’d beam at cion and couldn’t help but snicker at the idea of not having the ingredients. Everyone present probably could make the pie after all!
”Oh me and syre both could make this with our eyes closed! But ingredients huh? Oh uh… Yeah that is a cake right? Sounds tasty! Maybe next time you visit you can bring some of that along?”
Holly was glad at her suggestion and given the fact that syre seemed onboard for the pie it wouldn’t be too much longer before holly was digging around for the vanilla. If memory served that was the sort of thing you could keep in either the cupboard or the fridge…? It’d take a bit for her to produce the bottle of the stuff they’d need. It was partly used, but that would bring the question of how long it'd been since it was used!
”Looks like it! Though I think the last time it was probably cracked open was uh…”
...She was actually struggling to even remember the last time they had baked anything!
”She’s full of love. All of this family is.”
Silence scratched at her neck and stared down into the snow and couldn’t help but tilt her head as the mikemon explained that yes. That was exactly what dates were. She felt a little silly for thinking otherwise and sheepishly grinned at him.
”Sorry I guess… I’m not used to the romantic stuff. So I wouldn’t really know what constitutes a date or not.”
A small snicker and honestly; if those counted on dates just how many times had they gone out together? Late at night? Chatting things away until the wee hours of the morning? With the mikemon having to provide a shoulder for the shutmon who had far too much to drink? That probably would have put K into a coma in comparison!
”...A few days. I like the sound of a few days. But yeah. After the patrol we can hash things out.”
Silence reached up to squeeze at that hand and couldn’t help but sigh. She was nervous for this to be honest but she’d nod a second time at his ‘suggestion’. Her going back inside would probably raise some questions buuuut… she wasn’t about to argue with the doctor!
”All right kitten. But… don’t be surprised if I’m a little out of it. I’ve… had a few rough nights.”
It wasn’t because of the stress or anything, it was more because her dreams. They were so strange, not violent or the like but just… Distant. Odd. Like someone else’s life. She’d push off of the fence before scooping up the smaller mon in her arms.
”Better get you inside too. Your fur ain’t as thick as mine.”

Indeed - gateau was a type of very creamy cake, which also went by the synonyms torte, flan and tart, although those usually implied varying recipes and means of production. However, this was a small culinary lesson that meant little in the context of their jolly forenoon. Cion nodded approvingly with a winning smile, recognizing the afterglow which affected both her darling Syre and her coltish sister Holly. If they desired to indulge in it then she would be the last to do anything to prevent this. Perish the thought! Besides, apple pie was likewise classic and palatable, though she preferred mashed fruits over whole bits.
Following a moment of the Meicrackmon playfully showing off and suggesting to her to bring the aforementioned backery product with her, the silver fennec softly folded her arms and chuckled under the breath. It was charming and amusing to see the sisters wallowing in the pleasure of their passion and nostalgia. She did not even mind that, for this instant at least, that she was not in the focus of them. In fact, she considered it splendid that everything occurred so naturally. Whatever impressions she had left on her partner's family, she had apparently done well.
Content with this realizing, she inhaled once, quietly and calmly, before leaning against the kitchen counter and observing the enchanting duo in their element. As a typically patient and affectionate lady, enjoying herself vicariously was as easy as winking to her. Moreover, what she beheld was irrefutable proof of what had drawn her the most to the onyx feline. Nonetheless, she anticipated the second where all ingredients were gathered so she could lend a helping hand - if it was needed that was.

Sheesh - with their eyes closed? Syre gave a small chuckle at that. "I think there's a difference between helping her out with the pie and actually making it. I think mom always had to re-do the crust when we tried to help out, Holly."
Continuing that laugh for a moment or two, it didn't take long for everything to get organized on the counter. Most of it was easily at hand: flour, sugar, milk, a pie tin, eggs, and even the aforementioned vanilla! Seeing Holly produce the bottle, the feline would carefully take it, check the label, and give the top a small sniff. "Seems fine... good vanilla lasts for two years or so, so I don't think we'll run into issues? Hasn't been that long." She'd smile, setting it aside, as she'd open the cookbook and look through the first few steps. She said they should start with what went in the oven, so they should get the crust going, right?
Getting the ingredients ready for the pastry, the feline would look over her shoulder, and nod towards Cion. "Mm? C'mon over here, hun - plenty of room!" It was a family recipe, and to Syre, it was meant to be enjoyed by all three of them from start to finish. Half the fun was getting their hands dirty, and working with each-other to make the decadent treat. And besides, Holly's confidence aside, there was a lot the cats could learn from the fox! Not used to the romantic stuff?
That seemed about right, honestly. Silence was far more direct in her thinking, so if she wasn't actively trying to be romantic, it probably wouldn't occur to her. Still, dates could just be conversations or a walk - the doctor would give a small chuckle at her thinking. "A date is whatever we want it to be, hun. Syre's having a date with Cion, just cooking in our kitchen. Its what they want to do."
And if those were all dates? Then really, they might have been doing just fine. Still, they set to plan something a bit more substantial - and with a smile, he'd nod as she went along with it. Plucked up into the Shutmon's grip, he'd lean his head up, and nuzzle right underneath her chin.
"Heh... at least I don't blend into the background, wolfy." He'd tease her, but yes, it was a good idea to get inside and warm up again!
... Yeah, they went through a lot of coffee because of this!

The meicrackmon looked over the recipe and flicked her ears forward; she recognized much of what they had to do. There were some parts that she remembered her mother handling primarily and holly remembered clearly that her ma always had her handle the eggs for the crust.
”Weird she always had me do the egg portions of it for some reason. Maybe that’s why she had to redo it cause I got too into whipping the eggs or something.”
Holly shook her head; grinning goofily as the rest of the recipe’s contents flowed onto the counter one after another. Holly tilted her head and took a look at the vannila. The expiration date was right there and well… She’d rub at her chin and quickly would get a set of gloves and sleeves! Fur was an enemy of many a pie and K had taught her daughter a little bit about keeping stuff somewhat fur free!
”Lets see… so crust first… Need a bowl and…”
Holly mumbled a little bit and started breaking out the various dishes they’d need for mixing or the like. Even going so far as to get some beaters for the eggs! She hadn’t cooked like this in a while and it was clear she was very happy doing so!
”What do you think the weirdest thing ma had to cook for us was? I remember her trying to make some kind of deep dish… Lasagna or something?”
It was quite a treat to holly who liked everything that went into it!
Silence was very direct with her emotions and with what she wanted. Clearly she wanted the mikemon and clearly she had feelings for him so of course she’d be direct with him. She didn’t think of those sorts of things as dates and hearing that they could be just about anything made the shutmon’s face brighten a bit.
”Yeah okay! That makes sense. So I suppose most of the stuff we’ve done together would be dates. Well. Maybe cept for when we went shopping for supplies that one time.”
Silence rubbed at her chin thoughtfully; looking down at the mikemon with a grin as she felt that nuzzle. She did indeed blend with the background quite well. If she ever became a predator or a feral mon she’d be quite the force to be reckoned with! The shutmon had an easy time stepping through the snow as it continued to come down. But it didn’t bother her, if anything it just added more white to the already stark coloration of her fur!
”Heh. I’d probably be really good at hide n go seek. Might need to think of that for when the kiddos hatch. Think of how much fun that’d be prancing in the snow like that!”
There was a booming laugh and the shutmon would use her foot to shimmy the door open. Though after setting the mikemon down she'd step outside to shake herself off and get a lot of the excess snow off of herself before stepping back in!

Chuckling with glee, the silver fennec could not help herself but nod confidently. Of course there was plenty of room for her in the kitchen, but this fact did not mean that she knew what to do with it. Naturally, she as a lady was acquainted with the culinary arts, which was why she was familiar with the saying that too many cooks spoil the broth. Not that there was anything to truly do wrong while baking a simple apple pie, but neither were there really sufficient tasks for 3 people to pursue simultaneously. In essence, they had to split every step up into smaller ones.
But... oh, there she went again - constantly lost in contemplation and hesitant to act, even during such trivial and otherwise enjoyable matters. Scratching her chin, she shook her head and approached the counter. Self-evidently, due to the size differences present, she had to utilize means to be on the correct hight. Fortunately, her ability to float in her hightened if restrained state was adequate to accomplish the deed. She was slightly curious to see how her beloved darling would manage, but she had no doubt in her mind that a clever cat like her was adaptable, too. Besides, it was her home!
Leaving Holly and Syre to their delightful banter fueled by a reminiscent mood, Cion claimed a spoon and a knife, as well as a weighing machine. Aware that a floor and a crust had to be prepared for the cake, she made use of her convenient telekinesis to put the appropriate ingredients together. Those were mainly flour, mellow butter, a few eggs, a handful of salt and sugar, and lastly a minuscule pinch of soda. Mixing them was a different question however. "Is the eggbeater electric or manual?" She inquired kindly, not minding either some labor or the convenience of science.

Thankfully, this kitchen was already equipped to handle the short, rookie-sized Digimon - it was Dr. Mikemon who ordered this cabin, after all! The counter had a pull-out 'step', that easily allowed someone of a Gatomon's size to reach the counter and assist with the cooking. With Cion here, it was admittedly a bit crowded - but hey, to Syre, it was better to toss a hand in, rather than be stuck just watching the sisters having fun!
"Mm..." Syre's ear flicked at Holly's question, "Not lasagna? I think it was... 'manicotti' or something like that." She gave a shrug, and nodded in Cion's direction. "Electric, for this kind of stuff. Mm, can you hand me..."
And, for the next several minutes, the three would work away at the counter. A ball of dough was soon procured, Syre handing that off to Holly to work with the rolling pin, as the black cat and the fox would get to work on the deliciously-messy process of working with the apples! Apples, sugar, cinnamon, corn starch, and lemon juice, all mixed by hand with a strong, wooden spoon - a delicious looking 'mess' by the end of it! And by the end of it all?
They'd be left with the raw pie, sliding right into the oven, and a sugar-and-pastry stained counter. Syre lightly dusted her arms off over the sink - white sugar showed up quite well over that black fur - and her ear gave a flick as she'd hear the front door open. "Hm... they've been out there a while, haven't they?" The cat gave a shrug - hearing the doctor and the Shutmon talk in the background, it sounded like it went well enough. "Heh, I used to do this cooking stuff all the time up here - don't really get the chance to kick back like this much, anymore. Well." She'd smirk, towards the Arniomon.
"Maybe that'll change if I get someone else to cook for."
"Hide and seek with the kids? Heh... don't think about frustrating them too hard. You'd be impossible to find, otherwise."
Mikemon would chuckle, as the two would make their way back into the cabin - and the doctor's nose would twitch, catching the scent of something in the air. Pie? "Hm, desert?" Mikemon didn't think that far ahead, here. Sure, it made sense, but he expected something more out of a 'pot' than like this.
But, it wasn't minded, of course - when was the last time they had a homemade pie around? He'd hang up his cloak, and quickly work over his fur with the towel. "I'm going to go put some stuff away in the office, Silence - mind checking on 'em? Kitchen tends to get kind of messy when Holly tosses her hat in."

”Do we even have a manual eggbeater?”
Holly blinked a bit and looked over the electric eggbeater, frowning slightly and moving to offer it to the fox. Holly would go about working on the dough; her large hands made it difficult at first but she got the hang of it quick enough. Not like she could use meicoomon with this with the lack of proper thumbs…
”Just a bit sis. But sometimes they need their time too, yanno? Though I think it’s all right; chatting and all that.”
Holly stretched after she was done with the crust. Letting syre take what would be the crust and well… It wasn’t difficult when they all worked together for this! In fact it was pretty easy. Holly hoped that she didn’t make too much of it too thin!
”Well yeah! That’s what cooking is for! Silly.”
Holly snorted and took a seat; she seemed rather ready for the pie to already be done even if they had to wait a bit. Though at this point what else could she really say to her sister and visitor… She had some time to think about it!
”Well… I’d probably make sure that they could see my tail or something… or at least help them with their perception!”
Silence grinned a bit and sniffed at the air as mikemon seemed to catch a whiff of whatever they were making. Honestly… If the kids and the visitor were making pie maybe it would boil down to the two to make some kind of dinner?
”Sure. Though with any luck she’s not the one handling the sugar or flour base this time!”
She’d laugh and poke her head into the kitchen, the rest of her body following suit when she smelled the pie a little more directly. It didn’t look like a mess thankfully and she’d just give a thumbs up to the cat who was still drying off.
”Well look at all of you, just pie huh? Not gonna have somethin fore desert eh?”

As she prepared the dough to the best of her surplus of experience in cooking, Cion's large ears remained peaked to witness the slightly cheeky banter between the two sisters. Perhaps it was her own fondness for families and the bonds their members shared, but she found their interactions heartwarmingly intriguing. As mundane as their statements often were, they carried with them a sense of affection that she had not witnessed for herself in a dreadfully long time. And maybe it was the pleasant thought that she too could one day be part of such a union again which enraptured her.
But there she was once more - so utterly lost in her thoughts and dreams that her perception of reality had ceased to function for a moment. Blinking dumbfoundedly, her aureate eyes beheld the finished pie as it was shoved into the oven. Unsure where the last quarter of an hour had disappeared to, she chuckled quietly and shrugged. It did not appear as if anybody else had noticed her dreaminess, so not making a big fuzz about it seemed like the optimal course of action. Yes... she just had to keep it cool and calm. Besides, what she had while awake was infinitely better than what her imagination could conjure up.
Nonetheless, the cherished paladin's comment went somewhat over her head. Was their cake not effectively a dessert for their breakfast? Briefly scratching her chin, she cast the topic aside and simply smiled softly. After all, both Silence and Mikemon had returned in serene togetherness, which was a positive sign from her point of view. Naturally, she did not know what they had done while outside, but the results spoke for themselves. They were happy, hence she was as well.
"I can prepare lunch, too." She offered joyfully, evidently enjoying her role as a temporary homemaker. Apparently, so did her dearly beloved Syre, for she implicitly voiced her intention of taking care for the unassuming fox and the home they might share someday. Whereas the black feline smirked, she grinned faintly with delight, visibly captivated by the sentiment. "Maybe..."
Speaking of the culinary arts, leaving the kitchen in its current state was unbecoming for a courteous lady such as herself - or any self-respecting guest for that matter. "Oh dear." Without a second of hesitation nor the need for being asked to do so, the silver fennec enabled the sink to fill itself with warm, soapy water. With a sponge and a commendable attitude at her disposal, she began to clear the small mess they had made. She did so with a content smile; as if these kinds of household chores did not bother her in the slightest. Moreover, she would not impose work on her hospitable hosts. Perish the thought!

"What, like a whisk? I think there's one rattling around somewhere..."
Slightly disorganized kitchen utensils aside, there wasn't too much trouble getting the finished pie to the oven. Even if Holly did make end up making the crust too thin with the roller, well, there was still something to be said about a delicious, flaky pie that had to be served with a spoon! And yes, the feline had her own moments, a blush on her cheeks as she caught sight of the fox from the corner of her eyes, a constant smile on their face as the three of them worked away.
Hearing Holly's comment, Syre's ear gave a flick, as she returned a nod. "I think so, too. Maybe Silence has been stretching herself too thin lately, though... and, heh." Holly's 'blunt' reason for cooking together was met with a small laugh, as the BlackGatomon found herself setting a kitchen timer for fifty minutes. As Silence peaked her head in, Syre returned a smirk of her own. Yup, it looked like Silence brightened herself right up!
"Might be a touch early to think about it... but when the pie's about done, I guess it'd be close enough to it?" She reasoned it well enough, and at Cion's offer to make lunch, the feline flashed a fang-filled grin. "Well, we do have a pot of leftover chili from yesterday - push comes to shove, we can always heat that up..."
As for the clean-up, well, that was one more thing that Syre had gotten used to with all of this cooking! Cion's off-hand remark almost went unnoticed, as the BlackGatomon had gotten a damp dish towel and moved to start wiping down the counter. It was part of the motion at this point, the cat even looking over her shoulder for a moment to keep the conversation up with the Shutmon. "Actually, did you ever end up grabbing breakfast?"
And, true to this place being a busy house - it didn't take long for the Doctor to peek in: "Hey, Holly, remember to come in here and pick up your notes. We should also go over the index cards one more time - you're still a bit shaky on your data-type matching procedure."
To that, Syre gave a sigh, smiling towards Cion: "This place can get a bit busy, sometimes. Especially like this - its rare that both Silence and I have a day off at the same time to be down here!"

Hearing that cion would be up for preparing lunch the meicrackmon tilted her head; if anything that would be the opportunity to see what the other would likely want to make for them all. It wasn’t a bad idea per say and she wasn’t against it; though at this point it was likely the desert was going to be the entree!
”Well I’m not against it…”
Hearing that the shutmon had been spreading herself thin the meicrackmon paused; she knew how that was all too well. Should she talk to them? Offer help? Or maybe take that time to reflect on her own actions? The meicrackmon rubbed at one of her ears and took a seat. Flashing a smile to silence when she had popped her head in.
”Chili then pie? If we eat the chili we won’t have any room for the pie!”
Holly let out a laugh and shook her head; meanwhile silence had taken to leaning against the wall looking thoughtful. However when addressed by syre the shutmon couldn’t help but awkwardly rub at her neck. No she had skipped breakfast entirely by the looks of it…
”Slept through it actually. Not a surprise there; been sorta all over the place.”
Holly perked up at her da peeking in; though upon hearing what he had to say she’d stand up. It wouldn’t do to have her notes all over the place with a guest around now would it? Especially if it got more crowded if they had another person stop by or if someone knocked something over onto them!
”Oo! Right sorry da! We probably should… eheh...”
Silence let out a low rumbling chuckle and took a seat at the table, leaning on one of her hands and grinning at the other two while holly went off to go handle her notes… and little bit of studying.
”It’ll get busier before it gets quieter that’s for sure. But you’ve got to like days like these where everyone is around. Rare as it is...”
