Justice’s hand slipped into his pocket, fumbled, and retracted holding his ID card. His offhand gripped the door’s handle, while the former slipped the ID card in and out of the reader. A small green light blinked and his hand turned the door’s handle.
“Last time I’ll be using this stupid-ass thing,” Justice remarked as he opened the door, allowing himself entrance to his dorm.
As soon as the door clicked closed behind him, his D-Watch began to glow. A gold and blue beam of data formed in front of him, taking the shape of Vee and Gummy respectively before actually forming into them. The two of them then investigated the whole space.
It was painted white throughout, with numerous packed boxes throughout the main room. Each of them were labeled meticulously, with the lightweight boxes being stacked on top of the heavyweight boxes—the ones that will require a person to have some good endurance carrying them for long periods.
The kitchen and dining area, on the other hand, were not nearly as empty as the living room. Things like mugs, glasses, and plates were still on the side of the sink which were clean, but aside from that the room seemed barely touched at all.
Why were things packed? Well, because all three of them were moving out to live with Palicae, a girl that Justice had befriended one night that was kind enough to offer the trio a place to stay.
“So who calls dips on the biggest room in Pal’s place?” Vee asked, following Justice as he moved to the bedroom. He deposited his laptop and D-Watch on the desk before slouching on the chair and untying his shoes, yanking them off his feet. He also unlatched his bag from his shoulders, leaning it against the wall.
“Me obviously.” Justice smiled. “Besides, where’s all this stuff gonna go anyway? The Moon? Besides, geniuses need a lot of space for their big brainy-ness.”
Gummy scoffed, looking at all the packed boxes. “Genius, huh? Then what’s the point of all these boxes when you could have bought an Infini-Store and make all of this unnecessary, huh?”
Justice’s eyes widen, pausing for a minute before responding. “Holy shit those things do exist.” He mumbled to himself. Gummy smacked his hand against his own face in exasperation.
”Seriously? All of friends have that, Specs. Get caught up with the Digi-times.”
“Whatever. Remind me tomorrow to swing by the Digital World to get that. It’ll totally beat renting a move-in truck.” Justice remarked. “But for now, ima go hop in the shower. Then I have to check my grades online to see if I passed all my classes. This semester’s finals were a bitch with a capital B.”
“And I’ll go make us some noodles when we’re all done!” Vee expresses gleefully.
After Justice was showered, Vee and Gummy took theirs one after the other. While it was still nothing compared to a hot spring, the warm water was still a welcoming addition to Vee’s drying scale and Gummy’s short fur.
Justice redressed in loose clothing he would later wear in bed when he finally succumbed to sleep: a pair of grey sweatpants and a baggy black shirt.
While Gummy settled with his towel draped over his head, Vee cooked some noodles for all three of them to eat. Justice went on his computer to see if he passed all of his classes; he did. No surprises there. He then fired up a series of programs to check on a few other things ― various websites he visited daily, and forums.
As he closed that down and moved on to Twitter, Vee settled down next to Justice, still eating the miso-flavored ramen he made. The young man did not usher the blue drake away, instead patting his head.
The blue drake exhaled through his nose expressing comfort, his eyes scanning the darkening room as the sun went down outside. Gummy on the other hand was on Tamernet, message Bezil, his new boyfriend.
Vee then heard Justice’s phone vibrate. He got up from the bed and went to the desk to grab it for him. “Uhh Justice, someone just messaged you. And it looks like they called multiple times too.”
“Could be a scam caller.” Gummy commented, his eyes glued to the D-Terminal.
“Oh.” Justice seemed surprised. “That’s... strange. No ones ever called me that much except for my-”
Unlocking his phone, Justice’s eyes grew wider seeing his list of recent calls. On the top of the list was someone he had not spoken to since coming to Japan.
“...Mom.”
