Justice couldn't help but agree with Palicae's taste for simplistic dinning. "Yeah, you got a point. Sometimes the more smaller and simplistic restaurants usually have like a cozy atmosphere, something that high-end restaurant usually lack because they're more into presentation than capturing that 'urban' feeling. But still, it doesn't hurt go to a fancy place once in a while though."
Following her upstairs, they were let into the restaurant by a doorman. He watched as Pal tipped them. He'd gave all of his spare tip money to the cab driver, so he didn't have anything to tip them with, not even change. He couldn't help but give a slight frown of disappointment. It sucked that Pal was outshining him in the generosity department, but he'll manage.
Stepping inside, he was a bit awestruck. It was almost as fancy as it was outside, with beautiful, lavishly decorations, the tables covered in fine linen tablecloths, napkins and silverware. Combined with the low lighting, this place was the definition of a romantic place for a date. Approaching what looked to be the owner of the restaurant, Justice remained silent as him and Pal converse...until the mention of her grandparents coming here.
Before he could question her, he shook the owner's hand. "Uhh, Justice. Nice to meet you." He said. He turned to Pal. "Why didn't you tell me your grandparents were coming here? Not that I'm upset or anything, but a little warning's nice every now and then."
The owner, Arthur, then led them to their table. Surprisingly it was in a room, completed closed off to the public space. Something like this would have cost hundreds of dollars back home in the States. Damn. Saying that Pal's parents were wealthy was a bit of an understatement; they were loaded!
Starting off with the drinks, Pal ordered some wine. Justice took a minute to look over the menu to find what kind of drinks they had. "I'll just take some cranberry juice. Not much of a wine person, or alcohol person in general."

”Yeah, though sometimes I could do without the fancy places. A lot of the time they don’t even feel worth it. Given I’m not much of uh… Well. I don’t have much of a place in what my parents sort of deal with and their ‘society’ or whatever. Lot of posing when they ain’t doin doctor shit.”
Pal didn’t really think twice, a lot of this money wasn’t even hers so she didn’t mind throwing it around. Anyway you spun it, it was fine to her. The young woman slid her hands across her sides and cursed the lack of pockets; grumbling a bit a she was forced to carry a damn purse of all things!
”Shoulda thought of getting some pockets… next time I’m gonna wear a suit. Don’t have to worry bout heels that way. Eugh.”
Why did she even worry about this in the first place? With the owner shaking his hand and giving a smile to him there was that sort of stereotypical answer before he had to deal with something from one of the other waiters.
”Cause it’d be in like… the last five or so minutes if they did. I wanted to surprise yah more than anything. They ain’t bad folks and well… Gramps is more traditional so I figured he’d also like you quite a bit.”
That being said the young woman leaned back in her chair; arthur would take their orders and vanish once they were made. They wouldn’t see him until later anyways; as he was the one to show a lot of folks to their tables. Instead they gained a young woman who dropped off the wine and cranberry juice! The former of which was taken by pal; she’d give it a sip but didn’t seem to respond to the taste of it.
Once they were alone with the menus pal figured she’d just flat out ask it. It was probably on both of their minds at some point and she couldn’t stomach just… Sitting here gazing at a menu!
”So I’ll be frank, justice. Been thinkin a bit about it and well… How’d you feel about dating?”
She’d turn a page in the menu, noting some of the soups and frowning slightly at them. None of them spoke to her in terms of taste and the young woman sighed. She couldn’t taste them anyways but if she could she knew what she’d pick!
”Given that yanno. You’re already living in my house and you’re not a bad guy n all. I could go on but...”
The young woman sighed a bit once more and took another sip from her wine. She knew what it should taste like but it was just there; doing nothing for her. Not in spirit or in anything for taste. The only thing she really could feel was the warmth of asking this; of what he could say. It was that warmth that made her so damn dedicated to it all. And another reason why she felt she needed to tell her about her monstrous secret she hid from even her closest friends.

Once their drinks orders were taken, the owner of the restaurant would depart from their private dinning room, presumably back into the kitchen. Before long, the drinks were delivered to them by a female waitress. Justice took his glass of cranberry juice and took a sip of it. He wasn't a big fan of alcohol in general since he never saw the appeal of it, even when he became legal age. He only had it twice in his life and they were only for celebration occasions. Plus, cranberry juice was his favorite, so he couldn't pass up that.
He leaned back into his chair, sighing. So her grandparents were really coming here to pay them a visit, huh? He was all for surprise, but family surprises was not up there. Sure, they may be nice folks, but what would they think about him--someone who was not from Japan at all and from the states? What if they didn't like Americans, or more specially, African Americans? He began to nervously tap his foot on the floor. Argh! Just thinking about it was making him more and more anxious!
But then, Palicae dropped a bomb--a big bomb. In response, Justice face slowly turned red. He ran a hand through his hair and look down slightly. "D-Dating?" He muttered. "Well...umm...I..." Honestly, the thought of dating Palicae came across his mind a few times, but he didn't think she that interested in him.
"No, no! You can keep going."He pushed. "I mean, if you don't mind me asking, what is it you like about me for you to ask something like that. N-not that I'm entirely oppose to! I'm just...really curious since you know so little about me. Though I guess that's my fault since I have a bad habit of keeping a lot of things to myself."

Pal wasn’t exactly enjoying her drink; if anything it just reminded her that she really needed to figure out how to fix herself. Or at least make it so that she could feel, sleep and eat. Sure she could do one of those things but without the other two it was just… strange really. She’d shift in her chair, keeping her attention on justice. The rest of the place didn’t really interest her.
She felt kind of bad not mentioning that her grandparents were going to come visit them or at least partially join the two in this meal. They were supposed to come later in the hour so they wouldn’t be there the entire time. She’d lean to one side as Justice seemed to stammer at the idea of dating her. Was it that… strange?
”Well in the short time I’ve known you, you’ve shown that you really care for the people that you’re around. Even if gummy and vee aren’t related to you by blood or the like you treat them very close to what you’d consider family. Sure you might keep stuff to yourself but you’re honest. I value that sort of thing above most; can’t have a serious relationship without some kind of honesty between people.”
Palicae drummed her fingers on the table; she looked oddly thoughtful and she’d sigh. She had to break that one secret to him when they got home after all of this. With saying something like that she had to. It wouldn’t be fair to him otherwise. She’d do it now but there was no way to prove it.
”I know we don’t know one another too well. But you can already tell from my sort of lifestyle I don’t meet very many people, or like a lot of folks in general. Tend to keep to myself even if I’m what you’d call ‘friendly’. But I can tell what I like, and who I like. And that is you Justice.”
If there was one thing that palicae learned from her experiences it was to be honest, be forward. Tell people what they needed to hear and not what they wanted to hear. For her she knew what he probably would like to hear. But she would just be honest with him.
”In the vein of honesty, when we get home there’s something I need to tell and show you as well. Been sort of sitting on it for a while now. But first lets figure out what we want to eat yeah?”[/color]
What would justice think about that? Would he guess and guess and guess? Push for what she was talking about? If he asked hard enough or the like she might break down and show him here. After asking arthur to lock the doors to this section for a brief period. She didn’t want to do that but… If justice needed to know that badly she’d put aside her own wants to keep their relationship pure.
”Oh and. Just so you know my grandparents are pretty… what’s the word? Chill? You try living for eighty some years and not be like that I guess.”
They were also sort of traditionalists; believing that she should have been married off already and be some housewife to some rich guy somewhere. Heck at this point they’d probably not care about the financial stability that justice had. But she wasn’t going to dive into that. She knew that her grandma would be ecstatic to meet someone new and her grandpa would take some time to warm up to Justice.
Given that he was the same way with her father when it came to her mother apparently...

Justice sipped his drink nervously, looking away from Palicae. While the cranberry juice tasted good, it was doing little to ease his nerves. As he stated, he wasn’t opposed to dating a beautiful woman like Palicae, but after the whole intervention with Owen, and him finally letting out all the emotions that he had kept stored inside for years, it was too much of a surprise for him. ‘Do I even deserve this?’ he thought to himself.
He listened as she explained what she liked about him—that he was a caring person, willing to put others before him, his positive relationship with Vee and Gummy, and how he was always honest. Justice picked up his head, practically speechless. Even though she listed that off effortlessly, he could tell that she was speaking from the bottom of her heart and that she truly cares about him.
“Well when you put it like that, I like you too,” he told her. “I can list off a bunch of things why, so let me narrow them down to four things: I love how charismatic you are; you’re not afraid to speak your mind and push those to do things they may like. Hell, you gave me the motivation to get out of bed, clean myself up, and go out with you this afternoon. Two: your cooking skills are amazing. Like, the taste of those noodles you made the night we met are engraved in my head—they were that good and I want to learn how to cook like that. Three: like you listed with me, you’re honest. You know how to be real with me with no bullshot. And lastly: I uhh…”
He paused, sweat became visible on his forehead. He continued, “I think you’re beautiful, both inside and outside. There’s nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others. And that’s what you did with me. Plus…” He gave Palicae a genuine, flirty smile. “I kinda have a thing for girls with red hair~”
Now that he got that off his chest, Justice looked at Palicae for a bit longer. Now he was starting to feel fuzzy inside—the good kind. He wanted to ask what she wanted to show him when they got him, but chose to remain silent. He’ll wait for that. Then there was the mention of her grandparents.
“Chill?” Justice asked jokingly. “As in chillier than an artic blast from the north?” If that’s the case, then your grandparents are ice cold.”
He then mulled over to his menu, finally deciding what to eat. “I’ll get the miso ramen with a side of pork gyoza. Gyoza is really good. It’s pan-fried dumplings served with soy vinegar dipping sauce. I promise you, you’ll love it.”

Palicae simply watched Justice’s reaction to her words; there was some kind of inner conflict that much she could tell. But about what? Was he trying to dispute her own words? Or was there something else? She’d take a sip of her drink; regretting the fact she couldn’t taste it and tilted her head to one side. So he did like her too?
She’d chuckle lightly at hearing that her cooking skills were amazing; well if you were the one to cook your own food for so long you’d get good at making stuff to eat! The magnamon-x leaned back in her chair; a small grin parting on her face as she heard that last part. She’d be blushing if she could but all she could do was take a small sip of the drink and well. Reaching over the table she’d take one of his hands.
”Well good, cause I don’t plan on changing that!”
She’d snicker a bit and she’d lean back; looking over the menu. Hearing him compare her grandparents to the arctic blasts of the north she’d consider that for a moment. Yeah that seemed about right… So she’d nod her head, gaining a smirk.
”I’d say so, though I’d say grandma is definitely the stereotypical old person type. She’ll ask you if you’d like a snack and end up cooking a three course meal. Grandpa was in some war a while ago so he’s kind of jaded; but he’s really kind. But I don’t think they’ll have any issues with someone that’s even more kind than the both of them put together.”
She’d turn the menu and then raise her brows. Hearing what he wanted the woman would think this over; she had something similar when she was younger but was struggling to remember how it tasted. Honestly save a few very distinct things like the wine she was ‘enjoying’ she didn’t really remember them.
”Well then I’ll get the same if you say so!”
It wouldn’t be long before their waitress returned, refills for the both of them [if they wanted] and she’d quickly take their orders before leaving them be. Though she seemed unsure why these two got a room all to themselves given the waiting line out front… But who was she to question the owner?
Palicae took a moment to swirl her drink, looking at justice over it and rather than take a drink she’d set it down. She seemed to have on her mind something serious but she wasn’t entirely sure how to approach it. Was this a good time? She didn’t feel so but it just kept on grating at her.
It was something she had to tell him, maybe not now but the young woman couldn't help but think she needed to do this. She'd smile softly and she'd open her mouth as though she was going to say something but... It didn't seem like the right time so instead she'd simply lean on her hand staring at him quietly.
"So a good question is after this do you want to go back home or maybe walk around a little? Though after my grandparents get here I have a feeling they're gonna end up draining the both of us quite a bit."
She'd let out a small laugh and just shook her head; they would ask a million questions and would probably decide that they liked him. Or they'd decide that they didn't and would be quick about leaving. Though given that she had never expressed interest in anyone... they would definitely stay and ask questions. She could already hear the two of them bickering over justice and palicae's inevitable relationship in their eyes which just... made her laugh.

Justice simply smiled at Palicae’s endearment. He didn’t even react in surprise when she grabbed his hand again, but that didn’t stop that fuzzy feeling from earlier from coming back. He just simply looked at her, mesmerized by her laugh.
She agreed to his description of her grandparents, explaining that her grandmother was the stereotypical one, making lots of food if someone were to say they were hungry. Her grandfather on the other hand was nice, but jaded, from a war that he fought in a long time ago. Justice guessed that it was either World War II, or the Vietnam war.
“Heh, that just means they’re a lively bunch of folks.” Justice remarked. His head tilted in interest as Pal decided to get the same thing as him. “Alright, cool! You’ll love the gyoza, I’m telling you. The first time I had them when I was back home in the States, I couldn’t stop eating them for two weeks straight.”
After that, their waitress would return and take their orders, as well as give them refills. Taking a sip, Justice looked at Palicae for a bit longer. By now he was beginning to feel something of a connection to her. Like they were now beginning to become more than just friends. But in order for them to have a deeper connection, he’ll have to tell her about the things he told Owen, about his past.
“Pfff! Please! I don’t think they’ll be that draining. You, maybe. But me, naaah.” Justice scoffed. “If anything, the worst they could do is kidnap me and take me out to clothes shopping, because maaaan the older you get, the more indecisive you become. But yeah, after dinner we could go off for a walk before going home. Maybe somewhere seclusive like the top of the 104 Building in Downtown Shibuya if that’s ok with you.”

She wasn’t too surprised how he didn’t react to her grabbing his hands; she figured that he liked the support at the very least. She couldn’t really remember which war her grandfather was in but she did know that after he came back they ended up having her mother. So they were always so very protective of her because of that; not to mention also being really supportive of her lifestyle. Even if they wanted to have a great grandson or daughter.
”I mean for their age yeah they are pretty lively; grandpa won’t stop working out and grandma refuses to let other people touch her garden…”
She’d shrug her shoulders and tilt her head to one side; she’d love the gyoza? She really hoped that was the case. She really wished that she could taste things; she really wished she could feel things. It made it hard to lie and it made it even harder wishing that she could taste something she knew that Justice liked.
”I mean I know they’ll ask a buncha questions of the both of us so yeah… Draining for me I guess.”
She’d snort a bit and raised a brow hearing that the worst they could do was take him clothing shopping. She’d smirk and lean on the table, drumming with a pair of fingers on it.
”Well what if I want to take you shopping for some clothes sometimes eh? Get us a matching outfit for another date.”
So he was down with going for a walk before going home? Hearing that he wanted to go somewhere like the 104 she’d get a strange look on her face before laughing again. She’d roll her knuckles along the table and nod her head.
”Sure! But before we get up to it I’ll be sure to get us a camera or something. If we’re going up there we’re getting a picture together with the view behind us!”
If he wanted to go somewhere like that she didn’t mind, but she was going to take the chances she could get with justice to make this night as memorable as she possibly could. Beaming to him with a smile as she started to sip at her drink again. Though her eyes weren’t fixed on the drink...

Justice learned slightly forward on the table, chewing on his straw. Palicae’s grandparents seem like they have way more energy than your on-the-mill old couple. Back in the States, especially from where he’s from, most elderly would be living in retirement homes by now. And hearing how active her grandparents are, especially at their age, honestly surprised him. The elderly in Japan must be really active and healthy people.
He then gave an awkward smile as she suggested taking him out shopping for clothes. “Uhh, how ‘bout next date we just wear what we normally wear?” He asked. “I’m all for dressing nice, but not too frequently, y’know? Only on special occasions. Besides, as much as I like keeping my Jordan's clean and all, but me not wearing them for once is too alienating. They’re like a part of me in a sense. You can blame my friend back where I lived for my current addiction. Hehe.”
To his glee, Pal agreed to head to the top of the 104 building in downtown Shibuya, only wanting to stop on the way to get a camera. Justice raised an eyebrow. “There’s no need for you to go buy a camera. That’s what our phones are for. Don’t tell me you’re one of those technology boomers.” he chuckled.
In the few moments of silence, he sighed. “But if you want to, I won’t stop you. Just don’t want you to spend on anything unnecessary. I mean, heck, you’re paying for this extravagant meal and I’m just mooching off of you.”

Pal could honestly only recall a few times that her grandparents weren’t the active sort; in fact it was after grams had surgery on one of her legs that her grandfather made sure to just be around. Then it was nothing but walking and therapy afterwards. She’d let out a small laugh at hearing that they’d dress in what they’d normally wear.
”Well I more meant like matching regular clothes, can’t dress my boyfriend up here or there to match me? But I like that idea; super casual and all that.”
She’d chuckle softly and nodded her head at hearing the part about his friend. She knew how that was; she had a lot of friends back in highschool that more or less had the same impact. Though the idea of them wearing their normal clothes meant…
”My usual outfit is that track suit and a hoodie… Oh and the hat. Think you’d be all right with walkin around with that hmm?”
She’d shift a bit in her seat and lean back so that she could see the door open. It was the waitress with their meal. It had been about fifteen or so minutes by now so it sort of made sense that the meal would be ready. They had a lot of things that would be easy to make; this must have been one of them… or at least the cooks knew what they were doing.
”Oh no see I just like the sound and clicking, you know the ones where you roll it a buncha times and it charges the flash? I’m a sucker for stuff that make noises like that. Heh.”
She’d tilt her head to one side and then wave her hand a little bit as he seemed to think that he was mooching off of her. If that was the case…
”Well if you really want just do the dishes when we get home and we can call it even yeah?”
There was no teasing here; just a super serious offer. Given the fact she hated doing dishes and if he didn’t mind she wouldn’t even think twice about it. She’d lean to look at the food as it was brought up to their table and quickly put in front of either of them. She’d smile warmly up to the waitress and they’d leave the dessert menu for the both of them so they could potentially look over it once they were finished.
”Though I gotta ask, if you’re going to school what about Gummy and Vee? They doing anything or still kinda young for that sort of thing?”
She was curious about his partners, or rather what they would be all about. Were they too young to think about education like that? Or were they waiting for other stuff? She also wanted to poke at this so that she could slowly eat, trying to remember if she ever had this so she could give a good… guess and such. It was sort of a downer she couldn’t taste anything and really it just made her want to find a solution to her… issue.

“Ah, totally. I’m down with doing some dishes.” Justice responded. “I used to be a dishwasher at my university’s dining hall back home. Decent work but, y’know, standing at one place for four hours five days a week for two years does a bit of number on your feet. But one thing that job taught me was putting in a lot of elbow grease, so I’m fine with it as long as you think we’re even.”
It wouldn’t be long until the waitress arrived with their food: two bowls of miso ramen with sides of pork gyoza, just as they ordered. Justice’s eyes widened as the food was handed to them. The aroma was so enticing that he almost jumped out of his seat in excitement. After thanking the waitress, he grabbed his chopsticks and started to dig in the ramen first, and man were they good! He almost melted in joy to the explosive flavour. They’re definitely better than the ones back at home. Since this was his first meal of the day, maybe that’s why they tasted so good.
Pal then asked if Vee and Gummy go to school. He finished his mouthful before responding. “That’s...actually a good question.” Justice sat back in his seating, thinking. “I don’t think education is really a necessity for Digimon compared to us. From what I know, Digimon are lifeforms made entirely of data, and since they possess intelligence, speech, and personality-traits like us, I guess they could pursue an education if they want to. As for Vee and Gummy, they’re not really that interested. Nothing to do with them being young, they just don’t see the need for it, and I can respect that.”
Justice picked up a piece of gyoza and took a bite. “If there’s one thing Digimon have that their society is not too dependent on the education infrastructure like we are. They do not want to be in debt.” He laughed.

”Well I’m not going to say no to you doing some chores around the house. Don’t think I’ll be lazy just cause you’re doing stuff though! Wouldn’t be right of me to make you do everything. That and I get to learn about how you tackle problems among other things~”
Pal chuckled a bit at the thought; she didn’t like the idea of just sitting around and they could spend more time together shooting the shit if they did cleaning together. She’d follow suit with their food; feigning that she liked the dish fairly well. There was a bit of disappointment that she could tell she was eating something but it just… didn’t tackle her desire to eat.
”I think I can respect that. I don’t know too much about their society or what sort of rules they have but being in debt for them probably is even worse for them than for us!”
Pal spun her chopsticks around in her hand, staring quietly at Justice as he continued to talk; he certainly knew a lot about his partners and it was sort of hard for her to really relate to that. Her expression softened and she’d shift back in her seat, mulling over something for a moment.
”Kinda makes me wonder if I should go to school at all or if I should just keep goin as I am. I mean like. I’m pretty well off; then there’s the fact that I somehow came into having a really charming and intelligent boyfriend of all things.”
She’d huff a bit, still spinning the chopsticks around a finger here or there; it would take a lot of dexterity to do it in the way she was. But she’d chuckle to herself and take a bite of her food. It was empty to her, the lack of taste was making her focus on other things and she just couldn’t take her eye off of justice.
”But that’s the human side of things right? What do you think you and the boys want to do in the digital? Be all big heroes? Come home after a good day and get to brag to me about all the cool stuff you did? Cause I’m down for that. Might even swoon.”
She’d snicker and give him a firm wink, sipping at her drink afterwards. It did little to nothing for her; she could feel her body processing it. And she knew she should be getting tipsy but it was next to impossible for her to do so. Machines couldn’t get drunk.
They also didn’t sleep the same way or operate in the same way as humans; but she definitely was getting more energy from this stuff than some of the packaged goods from back home when she was being lazy…

Justice was grateful of Palicae’s gesture. “Heh, I’d like that very much,” he replied, giving a smile. Back at home, his mom always gave him the most chores out of his siblings and most of them he had to do on his own, dishes especially. And since he had two Digimon with nearly bottomless stomachs at home, it’ll be nice to tackle on the mountains of dishware with his new girlfriend.
And yeah, they’re a couple now.
Listening to her mused about whether or not to go to school and hearing her call him charming and intelligent, Justice’s face broke out into a rosy red, his cheeks turning so red that they were tinted pink, but, he did his best to regain his posture, albeit a bit clumsy.
“...Well, uh...It’s a good thing I fell from the sky and onto that bench the night we met, huh?” He didn’t expect her to be a person who teases like that. A surprise to be sure, but a welcomed one. “Honestly if you want a career, then yeah, definitely go to school for that, but I think you’ll be far better off than me since your parents got money. Me?” He gave a shrew chuckle . “I am perpetually underwater with these debts, so don’t try and save me or I’ll drag you down with me.” he teased.
As he slurped his noodles, Justice, too, found it difficult to take his eyes off of Pal. There was just something about her that just clicked in his heart. Like they understood each other really well. He hoped that she felt the same feeling as he did.
“Heroes?” he repeated. “Well, not really. I mean, yeah, when there’s trouble, I’ll be glad to answer, but being a hero is something I don’t envision myself to be. I’m more of a problem-solver than seeking grandeur. But, I don’t mind making you turn all red telling you about my adventures. Heck, you can come along too if you want a first class seat~”
After a while, Justice thoroughly enjoyed his meal. Even though he promised some leftovers for Vee and Gummy, he thought that they wouldn’t like cold food, so he made a reminder to get them some food at a different restaurant--a fast food restaurant--when they get back.
“Alright, after we get the check and pay, you know a place where we can get that camera before we head to the 104 Building? It’ll be on me, too~”
