Echos of the Past (Sanoske)

Crystal was lying against a nearby tree when Sanoske awoke. She was some distance, but still close enough to still keep an eye on him. Several things went through her mind as she waited to see if Sanoske would pull through. One of the more heavier topics was how she almost killed Sanoske. Not by accident either. She nearly killed him in cold blood. How could she possibly face Sanoske after something like that?
Another subject also lingered in her mind. Her memories have finally returned to her. She didn't knew how or when exactly it happened, but she had a guess that digivolving into Wendigomon had something to do with it. It was a bit ironic to think that the thing her brother and her were searching for so long had returned to her in the very same place she lost them. And while they were blurry, they did answer some questions about the necklace she had been wearing. The very same necklace that she held in her hands now.
Crystal looked up as she heard Sanoske speak. "Thank goodness your still alive. I was beginning to worry that I lost you too." She told the Gazimon with a sigh of relief. Crystal then moved to head over to the Gazimon's side, but hesitated before she made it over to him. Guilt filled her heart as she thought back to what she had done. Not to just Sanoske, but also to those who were once a part of the caravan.

He didn't spend long worrying over whether or not Crystal was alive and well, as he soon heard her. He smiled weakly, watching her come over to him. He was not quite "there" mentally to immediently recognize Crystal as the digimon who nearly killed him. In fact, after his final attack against the Gorillamon things were a blurred for him. Mentally and visually.
"[Oh, what a relief. I was afraid... I lost you too, Crystal. I deeply... deeply apologize I couldn't properly... protect you. I was sloppy.
But I'll try harder next time, if...if you'll give me a chance. This is the... second time you've saved me. I'm grateful, and in your debt.]"
He tried to sit up, concentrating through the pain. He growled, and his eyes color started to shift to a duller shade as he tried... but he gave up within moments. He would not be moving for now...shouldn't be worrying Crystal.
"Garrroooo...[Well... that's not going to happen... anytime soon.] Grrr...[Anyway... what happened? I know one other digimon..l came and beat the Gorillamon. But... I couldn't see it.]"

Crystal felt guilty as Sanoske apologized to her. It was here incompetence that got him hurt, and he was the one apologizing to her.
"Sanoske. There's no need for you to apologize. I know that you tried your best, and that's more then I could ask from you." Crystal said in a low voice as she turned her head, "In fact, I should be the one apologizing to you. I've been nothing, but useless these past few days and now you've nearly died because of it."
Crystal soon noticed Sanoske trying to get up. She grew worried as she noticed the strain the attempt was having on him. Fortunately though, he gave up before he did himself any more harm and instead opted to ask what exactly had happened. It was obvious to her then that Sanoske didn't knew she was the 'other' digimon.
"Sanoske. I... I..." Crystal was conflicted on what to say. She could just tell him that she didn't know, but she didn't believe she could bring herself to lie to Sanoske like that. So should she just tell him the truth then? What if he resents Crystal for nearly killing him? Crystal didn't believe she could take that. Yet, after what Sanoske just went through, she knew he deserved the truth.
"There was no other digimon. It was me." She said quickly with her eyes closed. Crystal feared what Sanoske's reaction would be to this news.

Crystal had apologized to Sanoske for being useless. But he felt he needed to apologize. Crystal hadn't been entirely well since Pure was kidnapped. But Sanoske was a champion digimon who promised to help her. And he couldn't even stand up to their last opponent. He felt inadequate and feared that, at this rate, maybe one day she will consider him useless. He had to do better if he was to help his companion.
When asked about the "other digimon", Crystal hesitated to mention that it was actually her. When he would otherwise be proud of her progress, she seemed to feel guilt over it. Again, Sanoske was in a daze, and didn't realize the Wendigomon was Crystal, nor did he realize she tried to kill him. Sanoske could make guesses as to what happened, but at this moment he would not know for certain.
He began with a sigh before speaking. "[Crystal... it doesn't look like... you're proud of this. But... we're still here. You saved me... for the second time. At least for that, thank you.]"
He gave a weak grin and would have chuckled if he had the strength to. "[Also, you found a good... use for my alcohol.]"

It was obvious to Crystal now that Sanoske had been to delirious at the time to know what she had almost done. That, or at least was playing it off as he was. It did make things more tempting for Crystal to try to forget about it herself, yet she couldn't. What if turned into that thing again?
"It was the only thing I could think of off hand that I could use to disinfect your wounds. I... I had to do everything I could to make sure you would get well. Especially after what I had done... And almost did." She told Sanoske as she looked at the makeshift bandages she had made.
Crystal closed her eyes as she turned and took a couple steps away from the Gazimon as she searched for the words she needed explain to him what had happened and why she was acting the way she was. "Sanoske. You didn't see what I had become. If you did, you would understand why I wasn't proud of it. I... I killed Gorillamon without a second thought or hesitation. Then... Then I almost murdered you." That last sentence proved hard for her to say outloud.
((Sorry for the unusual wait. I had a hard time coming up with a post that I was actually satisfied with.))

"[That doesn't change what I said...]"
He immediently growled those words after Crystal finished. It was obvious that this was eating up the Lopmon, and he didn't want to downplay her feelings over the whole thing. He really didn't care much that she tried to kill him, considering what he's seeing now.
"[I remember when... *his* name was mentioned. You told me who *I* was. You... helped me remain confident in my being, even if... I'm a projection. I'm Sanoske...
I am still here. Even through your stress and your pain... you tried to destroy me even, and I'm still here. You dressed my wounds... gave me concern no other digimon has. You're still Crystal. You're still my friend. The fact we're both still here proves this.
If... if I forgave you, will that help you any?]"

It surprised her how lightly Sanoske was taking this. While Crystal had a feeling Sanoske would try to make her feel better, she didn't expect him to bring up something that she herself had nearly forgotten about. It was heart-warming to say the least know Sanoske still considered her a friend after that.
"It might." She answered simply as she couldn't find a better answer to Sanoske's question. While she knew that Sanoske's forgiveness would help put her mind at ease, she feared that it would be nothing more then a lie to help make Crystal feel better for herself. She understood that having such a thought was stupid, but that didn't stop it from looming over her mind. That, and there were many other's she would need to earn the forgiveness of.
A familiar flask on the ground drew her attention, and so Crystal went to pick it up. It was the flask of alcohol that Crystal had used to disinfect the wounds. She couldn't believe she had almost forgotten that she had left it here. Though, from the sounds of it, there was still some liquor left in the flask.
"Here. I'm sorry there's not much left, but perhaps it can take the edge off the pain your feeling." She told Sanoske as she attempted to hand him the flask. She had her doubts though that Sanoske would be able to pick up the flask in his condition, so she was willing to help him if he needed it.

Regardless of her answer, Sanoske had already forgave her. There was no reason he wouldn't after all she did for him. Even if he was inclined to hold it against her, what could he do? Aside from leave him there, wounded.
Still, he honestly forgave her and hoped it helped her. After her reply, she looked to his flask and offered what little was left to him to help with the pain. He wouldn't be able to hold it himself, and given his position on the ground he couldn't have drunk it right. Still, he wasn't in the mood.
"[No thanks. I think I'll save it... ]" He almozt offered some to Crystal, but he decided against it. Didn't feel right to offer her any. And if Pure found out he'd probably throw a fit.
It is about this time that Crystal might be able to hear Ghost call out to them. She was getting quite worried...

Crystal nodded as Sanoske told her that he would prefer to save it. She took a quick look at the flask herself before deciding to put it down for now. Though it was a bit tempting for her to take a sip of it, she was worried what would happen if she did. Right now, she needed her mental facilities and didn't want to risk her accidentally digivolving into that thing again.
It was around this time when Crystal believed she had heard something. It sounded like someone was calling for them or something. Could it perhaps be Ghost searching for them or was it something else? She could only hope right now that it wasn't something that was going to attack them.
"Sanoske. I could be wrong, but I think I can hear Ghost calling for us?" She informed the injured Gazimon. If it was in fact Ghost then they were in luck. Sanoske didn't look like he would be in any condition to move any time soon, and Crystal doubted she would be able to carry him away if something happened.

Sanoske took a few moments to listen out, wishing his ears were as good as Crystal's. But he, too, soon heard Ghost calling. Unfortunately, Sanoske was too wounded to fly up and show his position... but he had another idea. Another area opened up by Sanoske as he fired up a weakened Hidden Missile up into the sky. Once it got high enough, it would explode. Not a large one, but it would do the job.
Some moments later, the Shoutmon ZX S arrived, using air jumping to stay above the trees before touching down in the ground by them. She held a 2 large, brown bags of food with her, which would have been their meal. It was a bit cold, though, as she had waited for them before searching. Once she landed, she reverted to her HyldenImpmon form, her previous form seeming to fade away into smoke as she looked at the two digimon.
"Sanoske... what happened to you!?"
"[Sorry. Kinda got into a fight... barely survived.]"
"I can't have you guys dying on me! I'm supposed to be helping you and you're half dead... perhapse we shouldn't have split up..."
"[N-no, no Ghost... don't worry about it. ]"
"You're not making it easy."

Crystal was a little worried when Sanoske had fired off the missile. While she understood the idea behind it, she didn't knew if Sanoske was strong enough to really use such an attack yet. She also was worried that the explosion could end up attracting some unneeded attention. Hopefully Ghost would reach here before something like that happens.
Crystal was happy to see Ghost when she had landed. It also seemed she brought food, which was nice of her. Crystal actually didn't notice how hungry she was until now. Though she didn't believe now was the right time to be thinking about food.
"I'm sorry we had worried you Ghost. A Gorillamon managed to get the drop on us, and this was the result because of it." She told Ghost as she looked over at Sanoske. While her injuries would be apparent to anyone who see's her, they still paled in comparison to Sanoske's.

The missile was fine to use in his wounded form. In fact it was currently the only move he could do in his condition. The explosion *might* attract some other digimon, but with Ghost so close he felt he could risk it, or risk having Ghost miss them.
The Impmon had rubbed the back of her hooded head, still surprised over this scene. The ruins, though, looked fairly old, and figured they were not a recent casualty of this Gorillamon fight. Still, seeing the rookie hurt and the champion bandaged and smelling of alcohol gave her concern. She had taken a liking to these guys and, including why she joined in the first place, their deaths would be quite awkward.
"At least you two are fine. Here is some food. Some burgers, bread, those tropical looking fruit juice pouch things, and fries. It's... kinda cold, but, well..."
"[Thank you for the food, anyways... I won't be able to... recover as quickly without some food.]"
With an affirmative nod, Ghost turned to the Lomon. "Okay... um, Crystal, I figure you would be better for this... mind feeding your boyfriend? He... doesn't look too able to do it himself..."
Before Crystal could answer, the Gazimon interjected. "[Friends, Ghost. Just friends.]" What Ghost wanted to say was "I couldn't tell." But she merely shrugged and said "Okay, my mistake. Sorry."

Crystal was awkwardly silent when Ghost had called Sanoske Crystal's boyfriend. She thought the whole lovebird thing from earlier was just a joke that Ghost had forgotten about. Perhaps they probably should have told her earlier. Yet before Crystal had a chance to say anything on the matter, Sanoske had corrected Ghost on the matter. She then apologize, though Crystal had the strange feeling that Ghost wanted to say something else.
"It's okay Ghost. I believe I understznd why you would make such an assumption. So we probably should have told you that earlier." Crystal told Ghost before taking a quick glance at Sanoske, "But anyways, yeah I'll help feed Sanoske if he needs it. I owe him that much at least."
Crystal would then procede to take one of the bags and sit by Sanoske. If he did, in fact, needed help to eat, she would assist him in any way she could. If not though, then she would just hand the paper bag to him, and keep an eye on him to make sure he didn't end up straining himself.
