The complexity of the situation had its foundations on how mysterious everything was, which in part came from not knowing their surroundings well. The literal clarity Light World had brought to the battlefield had faded, and Jazz could only react so fast to the monster emerging from the water and attacking her partner. Katherine, both frustrated by not being able to find any answers and appalled by the creature targeting her, just froze in place, looking at the giant monster with her green eyes. Jaenryu materialized in front of her, ready to try to divert any direct attack the anomaly could launch at her. However, something entirely different seemed to have stopped the monster, freezing it in place.
Was there something they couldn’t see holding it back? This was the second occasion in a very short span of time where the creature seemed to remain immobile. Considering the wildly vast amount of information they were missing, it was not crazy to think there could be some other invisible creature stopping this one, although the possibility that it was a drawback from one of its previous (yet cryptic) techniques was not off the table.
If Katherine had to throw a wild guess, it was almost as if there was something fighting this creature... in another plane.
Regardless of the real motives behind this attacking pattern, Jazz was well aware she could not miss the chance to strike their enemy dead on. She could think of at least one time where they were punished by not taking things calmly in this particular string of mysteries, but at the same time, she couldn’t take the risk of Katherine getting hurt by this monster just because she decided to wait and see what happened. Katherine also seemed unwilling to test her luck and probably die at the tendrils of this thing. The Hippogriffomon launched herself towards the monster.
The Spaniard pulled out her digivice and got ready for a new evolution.
As she flew, a light cocoon wrapped the beast's body, shrinking significantly right after. When it vanished, a blonde warrior was left, maintaining the motion the beast had started.
When she was at point-blank range, she moved her sword aggressively, trying to slain the monster once and for all.
——Slash Beam: CefiroDarcmon moves Le Blanc Pucelle with all her might, piercing through the air, and even disrupting part of the code in the Digital World’s air. This crack releases a great amount of energy, shot straight against the opponent in a lethal beam of white color. If this technique hits the opponent directly, it may cause an immense amount of damage. 3 posts cooldown.

The D’Arcmon’s sword struck true. After such an arduous encounter, the aberration Jazz fought finally collapsed upon the strange lagoon that surrounded them, sinking into unknown depths.
That had been quite the engagement, hadn’t it? A fairly close fight that had ended with the Spaniard as the victor, even if by a relatively narrow margin, but those were details, weren’t they? What was important at the moment was that, at least for the time being, they were completely safe!
Or, were they? The tides began to slowly rise from the same point the aberration had sunk, a tendril gripping the side of the boat firmly, and using it as leverage to slowly emerge from the depths. The digimon’s form was obscured by the environment’s dark ambiance, at least initially—it was only after a faint beat of purple miasma that Amelie’s form was revealed behind what had previously had probably been one of her spirit forms.
“Close call, wasn’t it?” She mentioned, doing her best to dry her clothes off. “I got dragged down by one of those things as well. I’m glad I could beat it in time to give you a hand. It seemed like you needed it.” A hint of smugness was present in the brunette’s tone, but otherwise, she seemed to be what could be considered oddly chipper after such a confrontation. “You did a good job, though! Jazz seems to have grown a lot as a combatant since the last time I’ve seen her fight.”
Almost as if it were a routine, the girl stretched her body before taking her position with one of the oars. “Well. Are we getting to the other side or not? I feel like we’ve wasted more than enough time in this lake.” If everyone agreed, hopefully they could resume their trip towards the other side of the lake.
With some luck, there wouldn’t be more inconveniences in their trip.

As the creature sunk into the ship, Katherine covered her face with her forearm, and Jazz reincorporated near her after her deadly slash. In what was one of the first fights the Darcmon had won since the War of Terminus, the situation had turned progressively stranger and was only about to top it up a notch when Amelie arose from the sea in one of her forms!
Katherine gasped and just hugged her wet friend once she was back at the boat. “You’re okay!” Then, she took distance for a second to look at her face as Amelie explained what had happened to her. It was fairly dark and foggy when this all started (and it was now, too) but how come Katherine didn’t feel the boat rock when Amy was dragged down? Furthermore, why didn’t Amelie issue a single sound when it happened? She could hear her perfectly right after that thing attacked, and then she was nowhere to be seen when Light World activated. Was Amelie really dragged done without issuing as much of an “Eek!”? Although what the brunette was saying was not completely unlikely in all likelihood, it was a pretty strange sequence of events, that only got more suspicious when you studied Amelie's behavior since they had arrived.
Regardless of this, Katherine just nodded and hugged her friend again. “I’m just... glad you’re okay.”. If this was the real Amelie and everything she was saying was true, she was genuinely glad nothing had happened to her! And if she wasn’t… Katherine just wanted to be back at firm land before inquiring further into the matter.
Hopefully, Jazz’s current form would allow her to fit in the boat perfectly, as she was not essentially a lot taller than Amelie or Katherine. The tamer grabbed an oar too and went through the necessary motions so they could resume their trip. “Thanks for your help.” Now that they were working on getting the hell out of here, Katherine could properly respond to the girl’s explanation. She then puffed her cheeks. “I mean, if you hadn’t let yourself be dragged down I wouldn’t have lost so much time looking for you and could have taken out that thing faster!” Was that really the case? Who knows.
“Thank you, Shisei.” Jazz smiled at Amelie’s form of compliment and kept her eyes open. “It’s partly thanks to the training I’ve done with you. You helped me reach this form, after all.”
“Did you… see... I mean, feel those things we were facing?” Katherine asked, trying to keep the conversation flowing to make sure Amelie didn’t disappear out of nowhere again. “They looked an awful lot like one of your forms. I could even say the techniques it used were quite similar to yours.” The Spaniard mused. “Do you have any idea of why that may be?”

All’s well that ends well, more or less! Amelie was no doubt surprised at Katherine’s sudden display of affection, but it was probably understandable. Returning the quick hug, she smiled at her friend. “Of course I’m okay. It’d be pretty lame if I let these things be an inconvenience to me when it seems like you handled them so easily, don’t you think?” Hopefully that statement would provide the necessary reassurance regarding the matter, even though by now, Katherine should’ve known that her friend was made out of tougher stuff than that! In any case…
Maybe it was worrying she was so worried about her own welfare? Amy couldn’t avoid smiling as she was hugged again. This time, she patted Katherine’s head a bit; even after everything, she was still a fair taller than her, wasn’t she? At least it was notably less awkward now. “It’s no big deal, really! I was taken by surprise at first, but I could evolve just in the nick of time. Everything after that was a somewhat smooth sailing.”
The two girls promptly returned to their rowing session, and that was more or less when Katherine finally began to behave just like how Amy was used to. That was a lot easier to handle, in a sense. “You’re welcome.” At least for the time being, the smile on her face wasn’t wavering. “I wish I hadn’t let myself be dragged down either, for what’s worth! I could live the rest of my life without having to experience that again.” True words, weren’t they? Being submerged in whatever was this strange, misty lake was definitely not a pleasant experience. Not something to be recommended at all.
Jazz’s statement was acknowledge with a nod and a smile; truthfully, the digimon had gained a sizable amount of power in a relatively short amount of time, and that wasn’t a small feat, even though that was a minor worry in the light of the next question. “Yeah, I have. It means we’re on the right path, aren’t we?” It was also true that the appearance of digimons who had a resemblance to Amy’s spirits was mildly concerning as well, but that was pretty much what they were searching for, right? Leads. “I can’t know for certain, but if I were to come out with an explanation… could it be that they’re part of this place’s residents? If that’s the case, that probably means we’re on the right track, even though I wonder what they wanted with us.”
Those, and definitely many more questions swirled through the brunette’s mind, even though it was probably not the time to ask those. Their destination was nearing, and the vague silhouette of whatever was past it progressively became clearer. An entrance of sorts, even though it was probably still too vague to have a definite form. “Seems like we’re nearing our destination. What do you think we’ll find on the other side?”
Would they get some answers or… even more questions? At this point in time, it was hard to know.

As the situation developed and new events kept happening, there was a gist of Deja Vu starting to become present in all of this, at least for Katherine. “I don’t think I dealt with it easily at all.” The green-eyed shook her head. It didn’t take long for them to go back to rowing; they needed to get to the other side, after all.
While Amy explained what had exactly happened to her and how, this Deja Vu sensation started increasing. Why was this so similar to what had happened in the race? Was it just a mere coincidence?
“Well, I would say so, yes.” The Spaniard replied to her friend. Certainly, incoming enemies probably meant they were trying to stop them from reaching something, so that means we were going in the direction of said something. Amelie insisted these were somewhat good news. “But why are we in the home of digimons from your spirit's species?" Katherine wondered. "Can you remember how did you... get that spirit, Amelie? Did you ever visit a place like this?" How come this was something Katherine had never asked her friend?
“We did come to the conclusion that, whatever had happened in that cave, those things we were facing had some knowledge about Shisei’s forms not even she had.” Jazz noted while looking at her surroundings, being that she didn’t have any oar to use in order to help the two human girls. “We’re either in the world where those things come from or they have made this place look somewhat similar to their world.”
“Maybe they did the same thing to that cave when we were in there…”
“If that’s the case, then we need to keep our eyes open. We are aware that they’re capable of taking different forms and deceiving.” The CefiroDarcmon added. “Can you think of any way of protecting us against those kinds of tricks, Shisei?”
As soon as Amelie finished her own question, Katherine turned to look at Jazz.
“I was able to explore our surroundings during the fight. The… lake, or whatever this is, is huge. There was some sort of barrier that seemed to show we could only get to the other side by using this boat, but I really couldn’t see what was waiting over there.” Jazz explained as the attention as on her. “If anything, we’re doing things just as this place wants us to do them, so I can only hope it gives us some answers in exchange.”

Amy waved at Katherine’s worry. As far as she could tell, Jazz had made short work of whatever had been attacking the two females. “No need for false modesty over here. I was submerged for less than five minutes; no close fight lasts so little, you know?” At least in the brunette’s case, that was a clear signal that there hadn’t been any kind of back and forth, at least when related to the fight itself.
Oh well, it wasn’t like she had been there and seen the thing herself. Maybe there was some other unknown factor that had made the battle close? No way for her to know, at least right now!
At least they were on the same page regarding what was this place’s exact nature. Sure, it was as iffy as it came, but that was something they had more or less assumed when venturing into this place, wasn’t it? On the other hand, the very reason they were here was to seek the answers to the questions Katherine was asking at the moment. As things were right now… “I don’t know why they’re here. Heck, I barely know what they are.” She answered as they kept rowing. “It’s one of the things I’m hoping to find out, y’know? If I had those answers, I wouldn’t be here.”
Least to say, the experience hadn’t exactly been pleasant! Amelie would’ve probably pricked other places to leisurely traverse if that was up to her. In any case… “No. I haven’t. It’s the first time I’ve been in a place like this one. And probably the last one, too. I’m not too thrilled at the prospect of coming back to… whatever this is, honestly.” Had she known how this place would be, she would’ve def reconsidered going, especially considering how… weird everything was.
The question regarding her spirits’ origin was something she hadn’t expected, nor something… she hadn’t explained before? That was weird. “Hadn’t I told you before? It’s a long story, but I got my first totem in the Human World. The others just progressively… happened, I guess. It’s the first time I’m in a place like this one though.”
Jazz’s words held wisdom in them; it was hard to know what exactly this place was. Yet… “I don’t think that matters a lot at the moment, though. Maybe we’ll find out eventually, but until that happens, we should probably focus on finding answers rather than asking ourselves more questions.”
She couldn’t deny the possibility of being deceived, nor what could happen in case that happened, yet. But then again… “How do we know they can do that?” Weren’t they going a bit too far regarding their educated guesses? “I have yet to see those transform or trying to be deceitful in any way, shape, or form. At least mine just went to me and tried to maul me senseless. I wouldn’t rule out the possibility but… aren’t we getting a bit ahead of ourselves?” Anyway. “I doubt they can put up a decent impersonation of any of us, but if you have any ideas regarding that one, I’m all ears. I know for a fact that my forms can’t speak, and while that one mightn’t apply to these, in case it does it seems like a surefire way to prevent anything weird from happening on that front.”
Amy herself had other worries regarding what they could or couldn’t do, but those remained unvoiced as the trio reached a massive gate leading into the pitch black structure by the end of the lake.
“Guess we reached this place, at least. Ready for whatever’s inside?” The brunette seemed to be determined to enter, and wouldn’t wait a lot before crossing the threshold, whether her friends followed her or not. [Exit]

Clearly, the mysteries Amelie’s form held were mysteries even for Amy herself. So much had been evident since the moment Katherine had met her, practically, yet… it was amazing how little they both knew about these.
“I’m not sure.” Katherine couldn’t really recall right now if Amelie had told her this story in the past, which led her to believe it hadn’t been stated clearly. Then again, there wasn’t a lot of clarity in Amy’s explanation itself. The curly-haired girl took her hand to her chin and mused about this for a little bit.
Although focusing on finding answers was a valid scope, there wasn't a lot to focus on or to find while they crossed a lake in the middle of nowhere, with the sole purpose of getting to the other side. That is why Jazz allowed herself to muse a little longer about these creatures’ existence. “Well, this is only parting from the theory these things had something to do with your form, which I feel is relatively well-based.” The angel explained. “However, the fact they can change forms and try to deceive us… is not a wild guess or an assumption, Shisei. “ Possibly, the DLC’s leader had forgotten since she had not been in the cave, but it had already been stated they saw Katherine and Amelie themselves there. “You and Kath were not the ones in that cave in front of us, so that means something took the form of you two. Going from there, I don’t think it is far-fetched to think they may use that skill to try to trick us. We don’t know if it can happen, but it’s not illogical to be prepared for it.”
Then again, just as Amelie explained, a key difference was that those things could talk.
“Of course, we still need solid proof that those shapeshifters are somewhat related to where we are now and, furthermore, to Amelie’s forms.” Katherine added, her arms folded. She then turned to look ahead, as they reached the mysterious gate at the other side of the lake. “I guess everything points to the fact this place is related to the mysterious events in the cave, but…” What was their relation to Amelie’s forms, if any?
Questions still lingered in the air, but having gotten across the lake and being able to do something to go get those answers, it was time to get moving.
