It was his second day in this world and he was still alive, even with no scratch or bruise. After sleeping for around twelve hours on the ground only his back was aching, but that's all. In truth, he was afraid of much worse consequences. Regardless, Weeknd thought about it as an achievement. Of course, right after his awakening, his sense of hunger has punched him like a truck, as well as his little fox. His supplies were left in the hotel, so Hans needed another way to resupplies food provisions. Because he didn't know how long his travel to Trailmon will take and with an empty stomach it would be a bad idea. Walzman knew it well as hunger is the power that needs to be respected, his military service explained to him that well. Luckily, right after waking up, Hans tried to get familiar with his Digivice and he did some progress on that. Moreover, he was able to contact someone on the Tamernet, and now he knew the way out of the world. At the same time, maps on the Digivice have revealed that their path is going to be a bit long. And since Hans was the guy, who likes to be ready for anything, he wanted to find some food for him and Pokomon. Searching for such a place was lasting for almost four hours, but the Swiss had been rewarded when the guy spotted Rosewood City. By the time it happened, the guy become a bit more confident and was ready to meet more of those interesting creatures.
Needless to say, he was in awe upon entering the city, and not just because of the sheer amount of other Digimons of all shapes, colors and sizes. It looked like there were architectures of every culture and nation, not just Japan. Maybe even extinct ones. And it seemed advanced enough as it had elements of a real-world city. Hans had no doubt it would be an awesome look at night. But what he really was looking for is something where Hans was sure - there is food. It was too large for a cafe but small for a restaurant. A bistro, then? Anyhow, he needed whatever can be served inside. Moreover, right before the entrance was an announcement in the language Walzman didn't know yet somehow able to understand. The bistro was looking for a second cook, or rather an apprentice for the master chef. Hans was seeing this as an opportunity to get a job here and thus, get more information about this world. Maybe become a local celebrity if he manages to please the local chef and demands of citizens. Besides, he was very curious about how Digimons can cook. Do they have recipes of the real-world nations? The Swiss wanted to figure it out. After all, he was an army cook almost for a year and knew about cooking enough to feed a small platoon of starved soldiers. Heck, even his regime's commandment has noted his skills. Thanks to his mother who had a food blog where she posts even nowadays.
"Ahem, is anybody here? I'm here about the job you offer.". Hans announced, entering the building and approaching the cash counter. Its interior doesn't look any fancy, it was rather simple. Despite the high amount of furniture, there were no visitors at the moment, which could be assumed as it was abandoned. But it was almost early in the morning, perhaps that's why no one was here. Besides, nobody answered Hans' question and the young tamer was about to leave when a Rookie, yellow-ish bird-like Digimon appeared, who turns out to be a Piyomon.
"Hello. I'm Tori, the chef, and owner of its place. You're just in time - we've opened not long ago in this part of the city, which means a lot of work ahead. So I'd like to have someone who can help me to make yummy dishes. And if you're here for some food, you're going to make it first. Keep in mind that I've never worked with humans before. But if you're here, you don't mind about it I suppose?". Tori said and by her facial expression, it was clear that she was pretty happy to have someone to work along with her, even if it was a human. To say that Hans was excited to work with a Digimon, is to say nothing. So of course he agreed to work for Tori until he won't find a good reason to leave this city. And it won't happen soon.
And so the work started. Of course, the guy needed to remind his skills as he didn't work in the kitchen for almost half of a year. However, adrenaline and a burning desire to show himself (along to eat something) were able to refresh his memory. He decided to make a decent amount of pancakes, an army recipe. The difference was is that it uses fewer decorations to cook because it needs to be made quickly and should be very satiable. In addition, Tori's cafe didn't have many ingredients, so Hans needed to think on the fly. Instead of honey and peanut butter, about which ones the Piyomon didn't know, the guy resolved to use a teal powder. Tori had assured her new helper that's a shredded caramel crystal. Soon enough smell of freshly cooked pancakes started to expand outside the building, kindly inviting whoever was hungry to enter inside.

LJ stepped out of the woods just outside of Rosewood. He had been training for the past few days on his own and it showed as the Leomon X was somewhat damp after washing the sweat off him and using his blue cape to dry himself. So now his cape was a bit wet but since it was a bit warm it would be handy for him to keep cool.
As he stepped into Rosewood thoughts of the person he chatted with on Tamernet came to mind while he was training in the woods. At some level he hoped that person found their way to a safe place if not home. His stomach then began rumbling as the need to feed had come over him. Sure he could head back into the woods to hunt or forage but since he was in Rosewood he figured he would get something there.
Walking around looking at various places the smell not settling his growling belly. Sure he was far from a picky eater but he didn't know what he was in the mood for either. Soon the smell of pancakes caught his nose and he followed the smell spotting the sign indicating they were hiring. He wasn't really looking for a job just some food so he walked in and spotted a human with a small in training digimon called Pokomon or some even called this species Viximon. Both were technically correct. Stepping in politely behind the human, he was likely a tamer, and the digimon with him.

A pretty major change has happened to Adrian and Shoutmon as of late: the two of them bought a house together in Rosewood, officially moving to the Digital World. It was quite a drastic change for Adrian, moving to another world entirely, and while his parents were a bit worried they were confident that Adrian could find his place in his new home. And thus, the two partners were now proud owners of a small two story home in Rosewood.
Adrian and Shoutmon were both sitting on the front steps one morning, just simply Digimon watching and seeing them walk, run or fly by the house. It was a very relaxing moment for the human and the dragon. Adrian himself was slipping into a state of daydreaming, mainly imagining cool things that could potentially happen to him and his partner. A loud rumbling sound was what eventually took him out of his daydreaming state, as he wondered what that was. The sound came again, and Adrian's eyes moved down towards his partner's white belly. "Shoutmon?"
"Yeah?"
"Was that your stomach growling?"
"Yeah..." the poor hungry dragon responded, rubbing his complaining middle. Adrian chuckled. "Don't laugh!"
"Sorry, sorry... I'm actually pretty hungry too. Why don't we go out and get something for breakfast? Can't remember the last time I got food from Rosewood."
Shoutmon's eyes lit up at that idea. "Heck yeah! Besides, there's not really much food in the house right now..."
Walking side by side, the duo would walk through Rosewood looking around for a good place to eat. They couldn't really decide where to go specifically however, only making their decision once the two of them started to smell something yummy. "Are you smelling pancakes right now or is that just my stomach tricking me?" asked Shoutmon.
"No, I definitely smell them too," Adrian said. Where was that delicious smell coming from?
It didn't take long to determine the origin of the pancake smell, which came from this bistro that wasn't too far away. It was then that they decided that that's where they were going to have breakfast. Walking inside would greet the two of them with a caped Leomon that was standing in front of them in line, and they could see a human and a Biyomon working on making the food inside. Shoutmon was practically drooling at this point, those pancakes smelled so good! Still, they had to wait their turn to be able to order, it seemed...

As Tori said later, that bistro was built by a human, that's why it had so many devices for cooking. Of course, the yellow-ish Digimon didn't know how they worked. There was even a coffee machine! In addition, the Piyomon mentioned, that there are rooms behind the kitchen, so Hans and her partner can stay as long as they want. It had a large enough room to fit all of them there. Hans couldn't ask for more as he couldn't afford to buy his own house here yet. Therefore he picked Tori's offer gladly. But it had its price - Tori had little cooking skills, so aside from simple vegetable and fruit salads, except for Hans' pancakes, there wasn't much of a choice. Same about drinks, only mineral water was available. Luckily for the chef, the young tamer wanted to fix that by vastly expanding the menu with his own skills. That surely will take some time, but the real problem was is lack of ingredients. That something needed to be solved as soon as possible.
Early visitors caught the bistro's stuff by surprise. But Hans made enough pancakes to feed all of them. Teal pancakes with caramel topping and vanilla-lemon syrup tasted good, although Walzman was afraid it would be synthetic taste. He liked it so much, that he was able to finally get rid of that oppressive starving feeling. The bird Digimon liked what Hans cooked as well, claiming she didn't eat such yummy things for a long time. The cooking made him a bit tired, but pleasure from his job surpassed his exhaustion. Even Pokomon participated in the process, which had energized her partner. So it was Tori who decided to serve visitors and take their orders, while the new co-cook was doing final preparations.
"Welcome to the Gigabite cafe. Unfortunately, we're just opened, so we don't have too many dishes. But if you're really hungry, you'll like our today's menu, I'm sure. If that not an issue for you, please take a seat.". The feathered Digimon announced, appearing behind the counter. The Champion has a bit frightened her, but only because of his potential appetite. This means Hans might cook a bit more, although he wouldn't mind. Besides, when he spotted visitors with his own eyes, he volunteered to be a waiter as he spotted a human. Because he wanted to offer a deal and that a guy was a key.
"Hey guys. I can cover your expenses for food if you can tell me a couple of things since it's my first week here. And I can bring you more once I'll back from the human world. Deal?". The tall Swiss asked, appearing to the left side of the Piyomon. He didn't seem to be afraid of Leomon X, he rather was trying not to say anything disrespectful or provoking. In fact, his plan was to establish as many connections as possible because he didn't have plans to be a cook forever.

LJ noticed how nervous the small yellow bird was and backed up a bit before he said "Sorry if I scared you and having a small menu is no big deal to me. I just came here mostly for the pancakes I smelled anyway."
He had noticed the human in front of him had begun cooking as Piyomon had accepted his help. LJ himself had never though of working in such a field even though he knew a little about cooking. His knowledge of cooking was not very broad though as he was used to forgaging and hunting while cooking food over a campfire. Meals like this were a rare treat but since he, like his parents, never stayed in place very long so working in such a place to learn wouldn't be practical anyway.
As he backed away he almost bumped into a tamer and Shoutmon behind him causing him to turn and face them with an apoligetic look as he said "Oops sorry about that."

When Adrian and Shoutmon walked in, the Piyomon that seemed to own the place told the customers that the bistro had just opened so there really wasn't a lot on the menu at the moment. While the both of them and the Leomon X in front of them were fine with that and just wanted what they were smelling when they walked by, it seemed a bit odd to them that a place would open up before they were truly ready. Oh well, wasn't worth questioning at the moment.
The human and Digimon would begin to go and take their seat but were interrupted by almost colliding with the tall Leomon X that was in front of them. "Oh shit," Adrian instinctively said as he tried to keep himself from falling. The Leomon apologized for it at least. "Ah, it was no problem, sorry about that," Adrian said back. Even if he was angry about it, the Leomon looked big enough to crush him if Adrian tried to pick a fight.
Hm, there's something familiar about that Leomon X... Shoutmon thought as he observed the lion Digimon. Did they meet him somewhere before?
Before they could go sit down, the human with the Piyomon would then talk directly to Adrian and Shoutmon, saying he'd be able to cover their expenses for the meal if they could tell him a couple of things. Adrian pretty much knew what this was about. "Let me guess, you're a new Chosen, right? I learned about Digimon when I was seventeen years old. We can tell you what you need to know if you want, no payment or anything needed."
"You're turning down free food?!" Shoutmon asked in surprise as his belly rumbled again. "Have you gone mad?"
Adrian chuckled in response. "I'm Adrian Boriker and this bottomless pit is my partner, Shoutmon."

"I'm Hans. And you're damn right, buddy. I believe humans' presence here has a specific reason, right? Otherwise, none of us would be here now.". The Swiss replied, being cheered up by Adrian's answer when everyone settled down. He even decided to serve tables on his own. After all, he was trying to impress visitors as much as he could. "My Digimon said our purpose is to make Digimons stronger but why? Is there a specific reason for that? I mean, I love cooking but I guess I have been taken here not for that."
Meanwhile, Tori seemed satisfied with what was happening and decided to help her new colleague to make his job faster. Since she was quite nimble, she was doing service much faster than the human. In fact, while Hans was busy talking, the Piyomon did all the job. The yellow-ish Digimon knew what they were after, so visitors don't need even to tell what they wanted.
"All served. Bon appetit!". The bird happily announced and returned to cooking as there was still a lot of work ahead.

"You don't need to apologize. It was my fault for not paying attention when I should of been able to sense you." LJ said as he backed up a bit giving Adrian space. Then LJ's gaze fell on Shoutmon who was looking at him. LJ recognized that look all to well. He must of reminded him of someone Shoutmon knew which was not entirely impossible. Despite being a foot shorter than his eight foot tall Leomon parent he, in many ways, resembled Lothar down to the brown eyes and the way he carried himself sometimes.
As introductions were being passed around LJ said "Nice to meet all of you. I'm Lothar Junior or LJ for short."
His stomach was starting to get as loud as Shoutmon's and was now hard to ignore but fortunately Piyomon had gotten food set at some tables as if sensing at least two bottomless pits. Before heading over to sit and eat, he looked at the yellow bird and said "Thanks."

Hans... for some reason, Adrian had flashbacks to that one Disney movie where the guy named Hans was actually the main villain in disguise, wanting to kill the main characters and take over their kingdom. Eh, this guy probably wasn't like that. Hopefully. "Yeah, it'd be pretty weird if there wasn't a reason for us humans to get involved in this world's affairs," Adrian responded.
As Hans continued to serve tables, he would also keep up his conversation with Adrian and Shoutmon. His partner Digimon claims that humans were to make Digimon stronger, but Hans wanted to know why, specifically. "Hm... I suppose it's more of a symbolic thing. The human understands Digimon more, and the Digimon understands humans more, theoretically connecting the two worlds even more for the benefit of everyone. That's just a guess, though. Who's your Digimon partner?"
It wouldn't be long before their pancakes had arrived. Teal pancakes... Adrian had never seen pancakes of this color before. There was caramel and syrup on top, but that didn't hide the teal color from showing. He poked his pancakes a bit. "Uh, are these actually edible...?"
"Three years and NOW you're questioning the Digital World?" Shoutmon asked before he took a bite of his own pancakes. "Just go with it, dude. They taste great."
...yeah, he has a point, Adrian thought with a shrug as he took a bite of his pancake. "Hey, this tastes pretty good actually!" Despite the bizarre color, they made a good choice coming down to this bistro for breakfast today.
The Leomon-X that they had just bumped into was apparently named Lothar Junior. Now THAT was a name that Adrian and Shoutmon recognized. "Lothar Junior? You wouldn't happen to be Mandrake's and Lothar's son, would ya? Wizardmon and Leomon couple?"

Even though Hans appreciated everything Adrian has told, the exact goal of humans' presence was vague. Did the guy doesn't know it too or want Hans to find it? And if so, where he shall look for it? That made Walzman a bit confused again, but he didn't want to bother people with just one thing only he was interested in and decided to change the topic.
"She is. Wondering if she'll ever evolve.". The Swiss guy replied, pointing to Pokomon behind his back, who was sleeping on a table after she replenished her hunger. The Digimon has eaten quite a lot, so her current condition was totally understandable. But Walzman suspected, that maybe the vixen needs some combat experience to start DigiEvolution? "Still, I can't be a cook forever. I do believe this isn't why I was invited here as my cooking ain't perfect. So, maybe, you guys know teams or organizations where I would find a use for my skills? I'm sure you and I are not the only humans in the Digital World. Or, perhaps, some of you need help with anything?".

While LJ didn't understand how or why humans and digimon were chosen to work together he did notice it was a mutually beneficial relationship between them and since the two worlds were connected to each other allowing humans and digimon to pass between the worlds through various portals, he knew it must be for a good reason but never thought about it until now. "Maybe there is something about the Digital World itself that wants good relations with humans and that could be why we have tamers, spirit wielders, and xros generals." LJ said in response to Adrian's mentioning Digital World affairs. When Adrian asked Hans who his partner was the swiss man indicated a Pokomon sleeping off the effects of a full stomach. The in training fox had been wondering when she would digivolve and in response LJ said "When it comes to digimon and digivolution it's hard to say when a digimon will digivolve or what will bring about the change. All I know is that most digimon reach the rookie level fairly fast when compared to reaching the higher levels."
As soon as the teal pancakes arrived LJ began eating while listening to Adrian and Shoutmon regarding the color of the pancakes. Adrian found the color of the food weird and, to be fair, compared to pancakes from the Human World teal pancakes were considered strange to humans but there were stranger things in the Digital World than these pancakes. When Shoutmon asked if he was related to Mandrake and Lothar, LJ finished chewing his food and swallowed it before he said "Yeah Shoutmon, those two are my dads and I even have a little brother as well. His name Kshin and he was adopted by my parents after I left on my own."
Teams and organizations? LJ knew there were a quite a few. Heck he was even a member of one of them. "Well I don't know about every organization but I know there are several out there. I myself am part of an team called GAIA and it's kinda like a detective agency. The founder knows my parents and little brother as well."

Adrian had to admit, he never put that much thought into why exactly humans were given a chance to be involved with the Digital World. The moment he met Shoutmon, it was just the two of them going on adventures in both worlds. He didn't know exactly what to tell Hans about this, as he seemed pretty adamant on the why instead of just going with it like Adrian did. Did there really NEED to be a goal, after all? LJ seemed to have the best answer on it though, saying that it could be because the Digital World wants good relations with humans.
Hans pointed over to his Digimon partner, a sleeping Pokomon that was on a table behind him. "Heh, she looks cute," Adrian responded. "I'm sure she'll evolve sooner than you think. They don't stay at In-Training level for very long, especially after they've eaten."
Hans then asked if there were any groups that could use his skills, saying he couldn't be a cook forever. "Why can't ya?" Shoutmon asked. "If it's not something you wanna do I get it. But if you like cooking, why move on to something else? Just because you're partnered it doesn't mean you're meant for some grand purpose. At least that's how I see it."
"I see it as both a simple gateway to another world, and a chance to gain a lifelong friend. What more could there be than that?"
LJ revealed that Mandrake and Lothar were indeed his parents, and that he even had a little brother named Kshin. "Well isn't that just a big ol' coincidence! Didn't know those two had kids... how are they doing, by the way? We haven't seen them since we did this one very... very scary job together."

"Humans here and their partners have no goal, only path, isn't it?". Hans said, smirking as it was a really old samurais' wisdom. And that was funny how it can be applied to the Digidestined. In fact, the wisdom was a bit longer with the grim ending, so Hans decided to omit it. But even without it, it was pretty clear that Walzman won't get any better answer and has to deal with what he got. And for the start, it was more than enough. GAIA, however, looked like a good opportunity to expand his knowledge about this world. After all, LJ's words that Pokomon might evolve after a good meal, had a positive impact on the young tamer. "I'd love to cooperate with that GAIA. Perhaps, by the time they'll need someone, my fox will finally evolve. Anyhow, thank you all. I got some food for thoughts. You may go once you finish. I hope you liked our menu today."
After that, Hans returned to cooking, and so did the Piyomon. There was a lot of work ahead and Hans wanted to show his best as more customers will arrive soon. And chances they will be pretty hungry.

"Ones path isn't usually visibly obvious so digimon and humans spend their lives trying to carve out their own." LJ said surprising himself with how wise he sounded for his young age. Maybe he got more from his parents than he realized. Though Hans' words had their own sense of wisdom too. "At least your knowledge of cooking can come in handy while you are discovering your path, Hans."
"While I don't lead GAIA myself I don't think the others would mind assistance from time to time." LJ said hoping some future missions wouldn't involve haunted buildings. The thought made him shudder as one of his few memories of his childhood involving a SkullSatamon came to mind. Of all the memories he forgotten why couldn't his mind be rid of that guy.
Then he looked over at Adrian and Shoutmon when his brief shudders stopped and said "Last I heard my dads were doing alright and Kshin has seemed to have recovered from his separation anxiety but then considering his parents were murdered by pirates and he was left orphaned on the streets of Whitewater when he was found it was a miracle he wasn't more messed up."
