"This is the dumbest thing I've ever done. This is the dumbest thing I've ever done. This is the dumbest thing I've ever..." Procopius was now standing on the dinosaur digimon's shoulder, bouncing up and down in place, lining himself up with the muddle-back portion of the jaw where he could see the egg and surrounding debris rocking back and forth, wedged painfully tight between two of the meat chopping teeth. Finally he let go, carrying the momentum of his jump in a long arc toward the space between those teeth. "DDDOOONNNEEE!!!" He landed hard against the flat surface of one of the teeth, scrambling wildly and making a small hop to grip his hand around the upper curve of the egg like a claw machine in an arcade. He rocked wildly back and forth, grunting and snarling as he tried to get the egg to budge, holding onto as much of the surrounding debris as he needed to get the right leverage.
"Stupid thing. Come on, come onnn!" Procopius grunted and rambled, praying to some kind of higher power that eventually some part of this would come loose, hopefully BEFORE Kshin's tail gave out and the entire five ton jaw of this titanic monstrosity closed shut on the tiny hand digimon. "Son of a bitch will you m-" He cursed the egg just as it started to pry loose, pitching forward and tumbling with a small crackle of debris down out the jaw and over the lip of the squirming tyrannosaur, instantly reminding of one variable he had forgotten to consider...the two-ish stories between him and the ground as he tumbled head over non-existent heels toward a ground that was VERY quickly catching up with him. "MMMOOOVVVEEE!!!" He howled, his cursing turning into screaming for the second time in as many minutes. Ollie, massive bouncing rucksack and all took out fro behind cover at a sprint, falling into a baseball dive and skidding on his face and stomach the rest of the way to his partner's landing spot, leaving the Tsumemon and the egg landing on the extra cushion of the rucksack...and Ollie underneath it.

While Procopius struggled to pull the digimental free of MasterTyrannomon's jaws, Kshin was becoming all too aware that his bladed tail was beginning to creak and bend from the force of the ultimate level digimon's jaws. His hands clenched into fists as it was beginning to look as if he would have to launch an attack at MasterTyrannomon. However he didn't have to do such a thing right away as Grace sprung at MasterTyrannomon before bringing her fist down upon the dinosaur striking him between the eyes. Sure it wouldn't likely hurt the ultimate but the strike seemed effective enough to catch the dinosaur by surprise considering the pained howl.
Kshin began to hiss in pain and just as he pulled his tail from MasterTyrannomon's mouth just as Procopius succeeded in prying the digimental free. Ollie had sprung out of his cover and with impressive speed considering the extra weight he was carrying caught both Procopius and the digimental.
Kshin sprinted over to the digimental scooping it up in his clawed hands before turning to Ollie and said "Ollie, perhaps you and Procopius should take cover while Grace and I handle this." Then he turned to the still thrashing MasterTyrannomon and said "Time to see what this thing can do. Digi Armor Energize!" Kshin began glowing with the light of digivolution as he said "Arresterdramon armor digivolve to....Pipismon!" When the glowing ceased Kshin had taken the form of a small blue and white bat digimon with sharp hooks on its legs and tail.
Flapping the wings on his back he knew he had to find some way to calm the large dinosaur and then it came to him as his instincts lead him to the solution. Getting closer he opened his mouth and said "Love Song!" Gentle pink pulses came from his mouth hitting MasterTyrannomon the move making him look infatuated and unable to attack.
"An infatuation attack? Gotta admit, out of all moves I could of imagined for Kshin, I didn't see that coming." Grace said after gaping in surprise.

Ollie and Procopius both groaned, heads spinning from the sudden, if muffled, impacts that they had just gone through, leaving both of them nursing aches as Kshin ran up and snatched the egg. Ollie evidently didn't need to be given the directive to take cover twice as he rolled onto his back, wrapping Procopius up in his arms and before long he was diving behind the same wall of the altar he had bolted away from the catch his falling partner.
"Can somebody stop the ride? I wanna get off..." Procopius said, the pupil in his one large eye content to spin in a dizzy spiral as his mind fought to sort through all of the rush of sensory input that had assaulted him over the last several moments.
Ollie on the other hand didn't miss a beat, peaking over the wall and pulling out his pencil he began to transcribe the fight happening in front of him with the rhythmic scratch, scratch, scratch of his pencil lead upon the thick pages of the notebook he was lugging around. He didn't want to miss a single detail of the near mythological brawl that was going on above him, the chiropteran form Kshin had taken on sending an echoing wail through the air like Odysseus and the sirens that confounded the reptillian beast above them. His eyes were lit up, his hands moving faster than most people could have even considered as he took down every last minute detail without pause. This was what he was here for, this was the calling that had finally lit a fire in the lonely young man's soul, to find these sorts of occasions and put them down in the pages of history forevermore. With every stark line of pencil lead etched into pure white paper there was another detail, another moment in time that would never be lost, another tick of the clock in the history and endless cascading stories of the digital world. Despite the danger, Ollie couldn't help but smile with warmth and vigor.

Grace then watched as Ollie managed to scramble to his feet while carrying a dizzy looking Procopius. Meanwhile the effects of Kshin's Love Song wore off of MasterTyrannomon and the ultimate level dinosaur digimon blinked as if not knowing where he was before looking at Kshin. Now rational the dino cocked his head not realizing the Pipismon before him was the same Gumdramon from earlier but either way it was too small pickings for the large dinosaur to try to eat so after sniffing the air he turned and went back into the tree line as if he never was rampaging earlier.
Kshin used the bat like hearing his Pipismon form afforded him and when he heard nothing he dedigivolved back to his rookie form of Gumdramon while Grace dedigivolved back into her rookie form of Gammamon. Walking over to Ollie and Procopius, Kshin knelt down next to the Tsumemon and asked "Hey, are you okay?" Then he said "Anyway thanks for your help even though it was very risky for a digimon that seems to have not yet reach rookie."

"Who me? 's fine I woulda kicked his big scaly butt from here to the gates of hell, all by myself, seemed rude to keep all the fun though. I'm just gonna, lay down and...oh boy." Procopius said, wobbling slightly before flopping onto his stomach on Ollie's lap, groaning slightly. He was still feeling more than a little dizzy. Not just from the vertigo of dropping out of the mouth of that MasterTyranomon at his current size but also his brain finally catching up with how insane what he had just done was and screaming at him for it.
Ollie on the other hand, didn't say much of anything, he was too busy writing. Taking down every little detail he could remember from the fight and roughly putting down the lines of the bat digimon that had turned the tide, racking his brain for everything he could remember until he sighed and felt his throat bunch as he overcame his own nature to ask an unbidden question.
"Would you two possibly...consent to be interviewed? There are so many things to ask you." Ollie said, kneeling down in the grass, bowing his head slightly before rolling his rucksack off of his back and revealing the massive central tome he was working on as the top flap rolled open somewhat.

Grace rubbed her still sore head and was tempted to tell Procopius that if Kshin wasn't able to armor digivolve none of them would be there, yet, she changed her mind not wanting to upset the little digimon. Maybe acting like a tough guy was just a front to show nothing was wrong which was not uncommon even in humans. She then eventually said "Well at least things worked out with minimum injuries and MasterTyrannomon left without trouble. Maybe he was in pain from a toothache or something before he chomped down on the digimental. That could explain why he left without a fight."
Meanwhile Kshin was watching Ollie noticing the young teen was still too busy writing. It was curious to the young dragon that instead of staying under cover that he would try to document everything happening. Shame Human World cameras didn't work in the Digital World so maybe he should get a camera in the Digital World to film the action before writing it down later when things were safe.
"I guess I don't mind being interviewed. How bout you, Grace?" Kshin said as he looked over at Grace watching her sit down.
"I'm cool with it too." Grace said as she stopped rubbing her head. Even though her head was still hurting she was content to leave it alone for now.

"That's wonderful!" Ollie cried as he sat down, looking up at the digimon and making a new header for the interview in his notes before he looked back toward them. "Would you two tell me your names and, uhh...I guess your species for the record?" Ollie said, instinctively though he rested his body in such a way that the Tsumemon laying on him would be able to snuggle in easily, Ollie knew Procopius needed a break to be able to tell up from down at the moment so he let his partner rest while he "took over" the conversation.
His notes were open on his lap, a freshly sharpened pencil ready, poised and pressed up against the first line of the notebook paper sitting in front of him. He took everything down in pencil in one of his notebooks first before transferring it in pen to the large digital world codex that he was making. He didn't want any mistakes, typos or weird formatting errors to transfer from his note taking into the final product so it was always better for him to take the noted down in a method that he could erase and correct after the fact rather than trying to get everything down perfectly in pen in the heat of the moment. As it was he could fill a good chunk of the notes in front of him with only the questions in his mind, let alone recording their answers.

"Easy, Ollie. My headache hasn't cleared up yet." Grace said from her position sitting on the ground clutching her head. Loud noises were bound to be unpleasant for sometime for her. Then Ollie asked his questions in a calmer tone of voice. Grace removed her hands from her head, looked at Ollie, and said "My name is Grace and the digimon species I am is Gammamon."
Kshin then sat down curling his hammer tail into his lap before he said "My name is Kshin and the digimon species I am is Gumdramon." While neither Kshin nor Grace mentioned the variations digimon of the same species could have they figured the young lad named Ollie to figure it out on his own in his travels. They watched as the young man sat ready to write information down before Kshin asked "Hey, Ollie. Why were you writing down everything from the battle before anyway? No offense but compared to digimon, humans are rather fragile and a pack of in trainings can pick off the average human if they were agressive." Kshin and Grace were just as filled with curiosity as Ollie it seemed as Kshin wanted to know more about Ollie's reasoning.

"Gumdramon...Gammamon..." Ollie said quietly to himself as he etched them down on the page on his lap. Procopius was snuggled up against him now, the eye in the center of his purple-grey head fluttering shut as the fading adrenaline knocked him out in combination with the feeling of security he got from the warmth of Ollie pressed up against him. Ollie paused when his motives where questioned, smiling simply as he looked up at the pair sitting in front of him. "Well someone has to write it all down, don't they? I'm making...an encyclopedia of the digital world, I guess you could call it. History, locations, culture, people, anything I can find that needs to be recorded in the present so that it can make it into the future. Every story is worth hearing and every story worth hearing is worth recording so that it can be passed on after we're all gone, you know?" Ollie said, getting a dreamy look in his eyes as he talked about it. It really was a truly romantic ideal of knowledge, that it was the most important thing needed to lift people up and make the world a better place. Naïve? Probably but it didn't seem to dissuade Ollie from his ideals.

Kshin and Grace watched as Procopius snuggled into Ollie understandably worn out as they were somewhat tired themselves despite not admitting it out loud. It definitely looked adorable to see. Then Ollie began explaining his motives for potentially endangering himself. "Being a tamer is pretty dangerous under normal circumstances but I can not only understand the quest for knowledge but also the importance of documenting history. My birth family were treasure hunters which is also a potentially dangerous career choice that sadly led to them being murdered by pirates. I know that all too well cause I was there when the pirates attacked my mom, dad, and grandpa." Kshin said with a sad sigh his tail drooping. He had brought out his mother's heart shaped locket and was gently rubbing it.
Seeing that Kshin was in no shape to continue speaking for the moment Grace decided to take over as she said "We both also understand how important the documentation of history is though. At least Procopius will one day be able to keep you safe easier as well."

"Well we're not here to talk about all the stuff I'm doing, we're here to talk about all the cool stuff YOU guys are doing." He said, hesitating to write down most of what Kshin had just said, staying his hand for the moment and making a small note at the bottom corner of one page to only ever write Kshin's story down if/when he got to know the digimon better. He may have been writing a history but he wasn't going to be the kind of yellow journalist who aired other people's trauma and dirty laundry for the whole world to see. He was writing an encyclopedia, not making a true crime podcast. "So what are you two doing out here, tracking that egg? Just treasure hunting in your blood, some imperative from the book or something else altogether?" He said, doing his best to bring the mood up, Kshin had been the hero of the hour and it didn't seem right, even to the socially awkward nerd that that should be "rewarded' by sulking and bad memories.

"Fair enough. You did want to interview us after all." Grace said while Kshin seemed to be slowly recovering and placed his mother's locket back in his bag as he was calming down.
"I think I'm okay now." Kshin said before hearing Ollies next barrage of questions. This was something he could handle. "To be honest Grace and I were just passing through after visiting my adoptive grandfather regarding a certain magic book. Shame we didn't learn much regarding it. The only reason we learned anything about the digimental at all was because of the book humming to life and a picture of the digimental and alter showed up on a couple of the pages. It seems like the book has been providing guidance but to what end neither Grace and I are sure."
"Kshin still has the adventurous nature of his parents though don't get me wrong. He is surprisingly cautious though for a digimon slightly younger than me." Grace said with a smile on her face her peppiness seeming to gradually come back so Kshin was seeing that as a good sign.

Ollie's fingers held his pen a little tighter upon the mention of Kshin's adoptive grandfather. He tried not to resent the reptillian digimon, not thinking in the direction of calling him out for not counting his blessings. Ollie had lost his own family and didn't have a single person left behind to catch him when he fell. He took a small breath and smiled again.
"Well it seems like that book lead all of us on our adventure quota for the day...I hope." Ollie said, putting a little bit of exaggeration in the way he craned his neck to look around, trying to keep the atmosphere light as he went on. "It's interesting that the book didn't see fit to "warn" you about Procopius and I blundering onto the scene. I wonder if it knew, though precognitive books is something I would call out as snake oil and hogwash in the human world something strikes me that it wouldn't be nearly as far fetched here." He said, smiling. He was always the first one in a crowd to sniff out when something smelled too good to be true and calling out a folk remedy selling hack was one of the few scenarios when he tried to speak up no matter what.

Grace looked over at Ollie just in time to see the young human's grip on his pen tighten. It seemed this happened when Kshin mentioned a certain magical Jijimon that was his adoptive grandfather. Grace then asked "Ollie, are you okay? What's wrong?"
Meanwhile Kshin took a deep breath before he said "Yeah after digivolving to champion twice in one day then armor digivolving to ultimate to wrestle a rampaging ultimate, I'm wiped." At least Kshin was glad there was nothing wrong that some food and rest wouldn't cure so he would take whatever small blessings he could get. "I don't know why the book didn't mention you either. I don't really understand this ancient book but I'm getting this really odd feeling that it has a mind of its own sometimes. Maybe I'm just imagining it." Kshin said looking at his small bag on the ground where he had left the book in question before he said "I never thought in my journeys to be a stage magician since I lack magical powers that I would be in possession of some magical artifact from before the existence of the Digital World."

"I-...it's nothing, truly." Ollie said to Grace, cursing himself for letting his emotions show on his face well enough that she was able to pick up on his reaction to what Kshin had said. "it's just...you should be thankful for what...and who, you have. Some people don't even get that much." Ollie said, looking over to Kshin. He wasn't disparaging the Digimon for his grief, Ollie could only imagine how what he had seen was effective the dragon digimon even now. But having someone who was willing to look out for him and take care of him was more than the human boy had ever been lucky enough to get.
Procopius shifted almost instinctually at that, his eyes softly popping up and looking up toward Ollie, even if the boy didn't notice. The Tsumemon snuggled in deeper against Ollie's lap, his finger claws gripping tighter against the leg he was laying against. It didn't strike him as right that such a passionate, kind young boy had been left as high and dry as Ollie had told him he was. Procopius wasn't exactly a moral paragon but some injustices would make anybody angry on principle.
