"That's better," Daichi agreed, trying to hide his obvious pleasure at finally not having to be grumpy anymore by drinking a glass of water. "Well then, let's just restart from zero and let bygones be bygones. Though, I can't really blame you for acting like that... you also have to excuse my obvious knee jerk reaction."
...Still, something doesn't add up. These two doesn't look that related, and if Ollie is in foster care and Procopious are like... his foster brother, it still doesn't add up. Where's the parents in this? And the more he think about it... Wait, Procopious? That's a name of spider genus... and even if you tied the name to a Greek philosopher of the same name...?
...Something doesn't add up, and it's bothering Daichi. It's not his business, but he can't help but to think more about the situation. There's just... something nagging on the back of his head.
"...There are... people who doesn't like it if someone meddled too much in their affair, you see... needs be damned. And well, pride is important, and I don't want to hurt anyone's pride so to say. Sometimes, I dunno, I might be overthinking but there are certain points where a help is "appreciated" and there's a point where it's "way too much". When you hit the latter, well... people would often say that it's too condescending or something like that... I dunno man, social cues can be really hard. That's why I kind of want to make sure first if my help would be appreciated or I'm just smothering someone to point where it can be seen as condescending."
Well, his offer for blanket is received kindly, so he took a hand me down one... it's still a big blanket, which Daichi's father said that he bought back when he gone to Europe... He forgot, but was it made from fleece? It was very soft to the touch and definitely very warm.
"Here you go, it's about 120cmx180cm I think? But it should be big enough for covering up. Also, it's very tear resilient, provided that you're not some superhuman that is."
Being kind for no reason huh...
"...I... don't need reason to do what I believe is good, I guess," he shrugged. "if you're skeptical that I'm doing this for the sake of just doing it, just think of it as me building good karma I guess. What goes around comes around, even if it's not from you, maybe someone will assist me in my great time of need." the youth mused. "Either way, I guess the idea is I'm just doing what I feel is right."

"I think we can all get behind the idea of apologizing and starting back from the beginning." Ollie said before taking a pause and turning his eyes toward Procopius slowly who was still softly frowning at the situation to the point he didn't notice Ollie looking at him. Ollie's foot shot out and kicked Procopius right in the shin with the tip of his boot.
"OW! Alright, alright, I'm sorry I overreacted." Procopius said, with a tone that made it clear he was being hassled into the apology but at least it was an apology. Ollie smiled with only a hint of smugness and turned toward Daichi, he might not have been the world's biggest social butterfly but he at the very least knew how to keep his adoptive brother on the right track, which wasn't nothing.
"Trust me, I'm not a man with an overabundance of pride. Even if I thought you were pitying me, its not like I'd slap your hand away and spit in your face the way some people would. Hell, I accept my brother's help every single day." Ollie said as he just tossed back another glass of juice, gulping it down like a man who had been lost in the desert for a year suddenly coming upon a fresh spring. There was that little niggle in the back of head again, that familial connection between them. Maybe they were just orphans at the same orphanage who had grown close enough to consider one another siblings?
"People help each other. Its the only way that any of us survive." Procopius said, his gangster attitude coming to the fore as always. When the system won't help you, you have to help each other or else none of you are getting out alive.
"Oh wow, this is really fantastic, thank you. And right as it's starting to get toward autumn in earnest." Ollie said, pressing his cheek against the blanket, feeling how soft and especially how warm it was. No more curling up into a shivering ball just to keep himself from being able to see his own breath. It really was the little things that could be a game changer especially so someone who had never known life's simplest pleasures before.
"We owe you one...actually we probably owe you a couple." Procopius said in a tone that made Daichi believe that he was being one hundred percent literal about that, that as far as Procopius was concerned, they owed Daichi a couple of favors. It was that old street code coming to the forefront in his thinking, when there wasn't enough money to go around, everyone "paid" each other in favors.

"Eh whatever, I heard you the first time," Daichi commented. "Anyway... when it comes to family, I think you'll be more inclined to accept help from them rather than from a stranger like me. It's... more given I guess, that they help you." ...He probably wouldn't have known, considering Ollie have yet to find a perfect "found family" so to say... minus this guy, who somehow... somehow made him feels as if there is something off. But to give him credits, he have yet to say anything that would make Daichi pins him as something nonhuman.
Well except his name and this is not Greece. Does he even looked Greek?
"I tend to not count favors when I'm the giving side," Daichi retorted "so if you want to count favors, count it yourself. But honestly? This is not enough, no, this is barely enough... so... here's the thing," He grabbed a piece of paper and jotted down a number. "...This number is my cellphone number. I generally put my phone in silent mode when I'm in class though... so if I don't answer you mostly know why. Aaand... uh, the idea is that if you have ran out of those rations, you can dial that number so that I would know... I can't give you a place to stay, but I can give you foods and drinks just in case. We can meet up here. Also, to prevent any security leaks, let's use code just in case. Can you remember a code without writing it down?"
Should the answer be a yes, Daichi would say this code:
"Virtus sola nobilitas. That's the code for the next call. Say it on the beginning of the call, and then let's meet up somewhere close before going here. I dunno if you have any money to make a call so... here," he handed over a prepaid telephone card. "I think it'll be less likely to get stolen for whatever reason. Public telephone are slowly getting phased out, so I don't think they would think that it's any important trinket..."
Well that's all he guess... Or not. Daichi then took two food grade plastic box and filled each with two serving of the leftover spaghetti. He handed one to Procopius and one to Ollie.
"That was a bit too much for me, so you guys can have it. I hate wasting food, and it's best to eat homecooked meals."

"Trust me. This kid? He can remember a secret code word without having to write it down. His note taking it mostly for the benefit of other people, not himself." Procopius said, recognizing the laser focus in Ollie's eyes as he listened to Daichi's "plan" and committed it to memory.
"Sounds like a plan. Thanks, really this is...more than I could ever have even asked for, especially considering the circumstances of our showing up in the first place." Ollie said, still blushing rather sheepishly at the stumbling entrance that he made and Procopius' knee jerk reaction that almost lead to a fight. Procopius for his part avoided making eye contact with Daichi. He was embarrassed at having reacted so violently to someone who turned out to be so nice and giving, but his gruff outer manner made it so that the chances of him actually giving out an apology were slim to none.
"I have a cellphone, but this public phone card is probably good to keep for emergencies. And you're right, meeting up someplace else is probably best, the last thing we want is the bullies to find out that this place exists." Ollie said, looking from Daichi to Procopius and back again as he rolled that scenario around in his mind. "Though honestly, between you and Procopius, any bully that shows up unannounced here with bad intentions, I might just end up feeling bad for them." Ollie said, knowing that between the two of them that no gang of bullies would stand much of a chance of doing anything other than laying down and bleeding.
Ollie reached down and slung his backpack back over his shoulders, hefting the weight so that it almost looked natural on his tiny frame. Almost, it was still nearly larger than his own tiny frame to an almost comical degree. He took one last look around the place, breathing in deep as if he was trying to take the sights and smells of the corner of safety with him.
"Until we meet again then, Daichi." Ollie smiled, walking out toward the door with Procopius following behind. Ollie, clumsy as always, managed to half miss the first step on the way down, his backpack swinging out and knocking Procopius against the wall...banging his holosuit projector off the edge of the doorframe. And for just a second, Daichi could see the black plastic blocks of Procopius' true form before the holosuit buzzed back into place.
It seemed there was more to this young man than meets the eye. (Exit)
