He had thought that it would be another uneventful summer day, one that getting cooler and one where he could say goodbye to his summer clothes and probably don his autumn outfit again. When it comes to fall, then of course there will be a lot of mushrooms to forage, and not to mention he'll be baking some sweet potatoes... it'll be really good for chilly autumn day. He was honestly excited... well excited in trying new things and dishes until he... saw something that he never thought he would see.
".................................."
Sitting on the table, right beside the object that he picked a few days before (and forgot to bring back to his house) is a gigantic egg. For a second he thought that it was a prank because he was absolutely sure that he locked the bus this time around... plus, the bus door was locked when he came here. Nothing was touched, and the window was also fully shut...
"...Ostrich? No... no, this feels even bigger... Fossils?" he mused... No no this is definitely not a fossil. But even then... should he try? He dialled a number. "....Oh, hey Taro-ji! ...Yeah uh... there's someone who left this strange egg at my secret base... is it.... not you? ....No, I wouldn't know anyone who would drop egg this big beside you and... yeah... yeah.. Yeah sorry to disturb you.... yeah, thanks."
....Not his father's close friend either, which... would it mean that...? He lifted the agg, and tried to look for any notes of some sort... nothing. Then... how about...? He walked to the front door of the bus and then faced the recording device. He checked for any chance of new voice message... If there's one here, then it would be recorded in the most recent voice... Slowly, he hovered his hand on the button to play it. He found his hand shaking, his eyebrows creased and honestly... even his heart was beating really fast. Only one way to know it... but he's not ready... he's not ready at all. What if he played this and nothing was there? Should he accept that... his father won't ever return then?
Daichi punched the wall of the bus, tears rolling down his face. He's not ready... And he still wanted to cling to hope that his family will be back to how it was.
For the meantime, he should... probably bring the egg to the library huh... Maybe they have some idea what is this egg doing. He wore the bracelet, something that somehow, he feels is important before heading out. On saturday, the school is mostly open to the students who wanted to acess the libraries or the facilities (minus the swimming pool. The swimming pool need permit first to be used).
Still, despite his best effort (and after enduring tons of students gaze as he sat an egg that's bigger than his head on a desk beside him) he didn't find a clue. Daichi is currently sighing, leaning against the backrest of a bench in the campus' park.
"Hhhhhhhhhhhh......"

"Alright, school's out, got my homework done, and I got some studying in there as well... I think we should reward ourselves, Kazuo," said Yuji, a first year high school student with dyed hair to seemingly no one in particular as he walked out of the main building across the front campus. "Got any ideas?"
"Ooh! Can we go and get a parfait?" said a silly voice coming from the watch-like device on Yuji's left wrist. "I've been craving one for a while but I was too scared to ask."
"Why would you be? We can get anything you want, buddy. I've been kind of wanting a parfait as well, actually..." Yuji was sure he had enough money to get a couple tasty parfait treats for himself and Kazuo. "We can probably hit the arcade after that, or maybe go home and watch some Dragon Ball Super- OH CRAP!"
Yuji was so lost in thought that he didn't realize how close he was to one of the park benches on the campus. He tripped over one of the legs of the bench and completely face planted onto the ground below him. And as fate would have it, this would be the same bench that Daichi had been sitting on. So in short, Yuji had successfully managed to completely eat it right in front of some random kid.
But surprisingly, he didn't seem to mind the fact that he fell right in front of someone that much. He just picked himself up, rubbing where he hit his head. "Ow... that sucked," Yuji said with a groan. His eyes then drifted over to the thing that was sitting next to his kid on the bench... which just so happened to be a giant Digiegg? Okay, this was something that would be worth investigating. "Uh, kid... where did you get that big egg, may I ask?"
If Daichi were to look closely, he would more than likely see a similar looking watch-like device resting right on Yuji's wrist... it was possible that he was involved with the odd occurrences that Daichi had been witnessing lately.

No clue, nothing... the egg is still strangely warm to the touch which means that it's alive. But it still makes him wonder what's going on seriously. Where came the egg? What sort of thing that he got roped into? Not to mention, is it related to the monster that back then ate his shadow? What were they called again? ...Oh right, he wondered if Lux-sensei is at school today... but it's unlikely considering that he's just a temp teacher than a full time staff.
...And some senior somehow... tripped over and faceplanted. Ow. Talk about unlucky. Daichi was going to secretly move away with the egg, halfway standing up, trying to give a "I really have no idea what's going on right now" vibe as he tried to move along--- only for the senior to ask him about the egg.
"................................Some farm nearby?" Daichi answered in a "this is such a pain to answer" kind of tone. Of course that's such a paper thin bullshit that was meant to deter someone to ask further... well, on the flipside it could also lead to more question but honestly, when it comes to pointed questions like these, Daichi is bad with it, and it kinda shows in his responses. It tends to be deflective.
As for the device, sadly at the moment he only registered it as "some smart wristwatch that you can contact alexa with" or make a call considering how the senior was talking to someone. Not that he knew, considering that.... well, the device on his wrist is currently... unresponding?
...Little did he knew however, something is starting to happen.
"Hmn....? Fogs?"
It's getting foggy in the school ground. The temperature slowly dropping....

Yuji's heard some pretty bad excuses in his time, and even made some pretty bad excuses himself, but the excuse this kid gave about his giant egg had to take the cake. There was no way in heck that an egg that massive simply came from a farm, especially not one here in Shibuya. Yuji crossed his arms as he stared back at the kid, clearly not buying that excuse.
"Look, kid, I'm gonna be real with you... that was a pretty bad lie," Yuji would say to the middle schooler. "But something tells me that not even you know where that egg came from, or even what kind of egg that is." Yuji wasn't quite sure of telling an outsider about what was going on, but then he noticed Daichi's own watch. It looked exactly like Yuji's, except with a green strap instead of blue. Maybe... that egg was Daichi's partner? It was the best guess that Yuji had for the moment.
"I could tell you what kind of egg that is, but you'd think I was crazy if I did. I'm willing to tell and show you everything I know, but I gotta know if that's what you want first." Yuji also got the vibe that this kid just wanted to get away from him, which Yuji totally understood. Still, it didn't hurt to offer, right?
But then something weird started happening. Fog started flooding the school grounds, and the temperature started to drop as well. Yuji knew a little bit about the supposed "incidents" that happened at the school not too long ago, but this seemed different. He felt like something was wrong here, as today was nice enough that fog wasn't in the forecast in the slightest. "Kid, stick close to me, I think we need to leave," Yuji would say before he started to walk towards the exit, making sure that Daichi was following as he did so.

"If you know that's a lie then surely it's clear that I don't really want to explain any of this... or don't know?" Daichi pointed out "I mean, like, it could be props you know, and hell, I don't know a dang thing about this or who sent it anyway. It just appeared on my place one day."
Yeah that does confirms Yuji's point. "For one thing it's warm. It doesn't have any strange timers or things like that, so I guess... well, it's not a bomb... but it's alive? The shell is way too thick to even see through whether it got something inside it or not. It's definitely not an ostrich, because honestly, it's even bigger than that! And this egg with this pattern... what's up with it anyway?"
The egg was amberish, with red lines with pulsing lighting running around it. It looked like magma, but the cracks are too uniform. If one wouldn't know they would consider it alien egg or something.
When Yuji pointed out that he can explain what is that, Daichi just squinted. "...................................this better not be some kind of alien research society or something. I'm not interested in those just so you know. Though..." he rubbed his left arm. The incident from that day... is still fresh in his mind.
There's another world, world that only chosen ones can enter. Those who have involved with "that side" is practically given invitation. The question is whether you will take the invitation and meet it head on, or forget it, and return to your normal life. The life of a choosen one is very rife with danger. Your presence alone is like a magnet to those side. Like they said, bird of a feather flocks together. You cannot stop of being a chosen once you chose to accept. Think of it very seriously, Shiki-kun. Life is full of choice, and this one... will be on magnitude of something no one "normal" would even dream of understanding. I know all of it-- for I am chosen to walk this life with a chosen human.
Lux's word... no, he was actually a king, right? King Hikaru's word resonates in his mind.
".........................................Is it related to Digimons?" he asked carefully.
Either way, he's right... they need to lea--
ba-dump
Heartbeat? ...Where did it came from?
ba-dump ba-dump ba-dump
No, it's not his, it's... the egg? Could it be... that it's scared? Daichi wrapped his arms stronger on the egg.
"It's OK... It's OK... We'll get out of here... Calm down..."
The heartbeat slowed down, but at the same time, he felt like he's not really out of the danger yet... especially now that the fog is getting thicker and thicker. Daichi quickly whipped out his phone, trying to look for the map just in case-- only to notice that the signal has been blocked by the fog.
"...Cra-"
Before he could finish his curse, strong wind blew, and suddenly... it's as if they're in twisted version of the school. The area felt cold, and the color changed. It's predominantly violet. It's almost as if someone splashed a filter upon them. Not to mention, the sky... it's twilight. He could have sworn that it was at least very early afternoon... But that's not all. Some of the building parts are peeling, revealing wireframes... except these wireframes are not designed in how wireframes should, but in triangular-like pattern instead of the usual rectangular long lines that often shown when using topography wireframe.
".....What... is this place?"
Circuit lines running through the ground, and sometimes the object like lampposts. There are also holograms boards floating around. Daichi approached one of it.
"...It looked like someone's text message..." he mused.
Clatter
"Hmn?" he looked at what just dropped. "...What's this... a memory drive?"
It's shaped like a memory card, except slightly bigger and with a plug. "...........?"
For the meantime he put it inside his pocket.

Despite Daichi's clear statement that he didn't want to explain any of this, he did give in and told Yuji more about the egg. The egg was apparently very warm, and the outside was almost like amber with red pulsing lights coursing through it, almost giving it a magma-like appearance. "Yeah, this is definitely an interesting-looking egg," Yuji said as he gently placed a hand on top of it. He wasn't sure if whatever was in there could respond yet, so hopefully it didn't mind being touched like this.
Daichi asked if what Yuji had to say involved some kind of alien research society. Yuji couldn't help but smile, as that did seem like a likely thing that he would be a part of. But then the kid asked if it was related to Digimon in any way, proving that he did at least know what they were. Yuji smirked. "You catch on quick, kid. Name's Yuji Moriyama, first year student. I'm sure you'll meet my own partner here soon enough."
Oh, Yuji had no idea how right he was about that. Now was when Yuji and Daichi both agreed that they had to leave, with Yuji noticing how Daichi was talking to the egg, whispering at it to try and calm it down. Okay, so there truly was something conscious in there, if only subconsciously. Wasn't surprising at all, but it was still good to know. As Yuji and Daichi walked towards the exit, the fog was only getting thicker and thicker. Daichi did the reasonable thing and pulled out his phone for a map, only to find that the signal was blocked. Yuji's feelings echoed Daichi's greatly in that moment.
A strong wind suddenly blew past the duo. Yuji clenched his teeth as he shielded his eyes with his arm. Once the wind stopped and he lowered his arm, his eyes widened after seeing how different their environment now was. It was like some odd filter was placed on the school... the sky was twilight, and the area was mostly violet in color. Not to mention how the building was peeling and revealing weird triangle-like wireframes underneath. When asked what this place was, Yuji simply said, "I, uh... yeah, I've got nothing."
He watched as Daichi approached a hologram board nearby, stating that it looked like a text message. "Yeah, you're right, it does... and look, you can see circuit lines going through everything..."
"Yuji, what's going on out there? I can feel my battle sense activating!"
A sudden voice coming from Yuji's digivice rang out, sounding much more mature than the voice that he was talking to before. Yuji looked down at his Digivice-V and said, "Hold on, Kazuo, I'll get you out... Kazuo, realize!"
A bright light would then shoot out of Yuji's Digivice and onto the ground, forming into a red and green ladybug-like Digimon with green eyes and orange antennae. As soon as he materialized, he too was very confused by their sudden change in location. "Well, this is a new one, isn't it?"
"Yep... do you think you'll still be in battle mode while we're in here?"
"Probably. No dumb Kazuo for you for a while, at least until we know where we are." Upon looking around more, Kazuo would then notice Daichi, who seemed to have just put something in his pocket. "Who's the kid? And why does he have a Digi-Egg with him?"

Again, more Digimons... This one is shaped like... "...That's a really huge Coccinela magifica..." Daichi muttered. "Though I guess the fact that they stands on two legs and having sickle like first set of legs is quite concerning... still, the diminutive second set of arm is... really interesting... Those arms looked like it could be used for grabbing rather than attacking... actually, how does the mandible worked...?"
...The inner biologist suddenly finds himself very interested on Kazuo. "...Huh, rather than spots, the dots on the elytra are spikes instead. There are softer wings below that just like the usual tentomushi, but those... antennae like things, are those--"
His muttering continues as he walked around Kazuo, scanning him in great interest, jotting down notes as he goes at it. Digimons seem to be more like umbrella term for animal like beings with sapience, so Daichi thought. Once he's done, he put aside his notes.
"Yep, I understand nothing!" he would voice out, and yet looking very satisfied. "...Still," he looked around. "...I wonder if we should go somewhere else from here.... I mean... what should we even do here? From your reaction before I don't think you ever happened to... experience similar kind of thing like this one, right?"
Kazuo's question was kinda forgotten. It's seem that Daichi tends to forgot some things once he's in zone. "....I don't think waiting and stay in one spot would be good considering..." his mind drifted to the incident back then. "But I'm the newbie here so... what to do?"
...Though it seems that they do not have to wait all that long. Yuji would see on the corner of his eye... a strange creature. It's shaped like Digimon... shaped only. It doesn't looked like any Digimon he have met before or one that's available in any references. Its general shape would remind someone of Gammamon, at least body wise. Its head however, looked like elongated version of Impmon's... like if you put Impmon's ears on Renamon's head and adjusted its size. This "Digimon" is also peeling, with circuits running to its gaping peel that shows wireframe underneath. Its "eyes" are closed. The way it walk is very disconcerting. It walked, very, very, very slowly... with each step, it twitched, or sometimes jolted. On place it twitched, for a second that place would inflate like something is pumping.
At this time, once again, the egg beated hard, as if it's once again terrifed. But that's less of a problem here. More and more of those same creature as "that" anomaly is now appearing... out of nowhere. It feels like they "suddenly solidified into existance"

Once Kazuo had made himself known, Daichi seemed to be really interested in him in particular. Kazuo tilted his head a bit when Daichi called him a term that he hadn't heard before and started talking about his sickle-like arms. "What are you... doing...?" Kazuo asked, he could feel his battle mode starting to fade away a bit due to Daichi's supposed interest in Kazuo as a creature.
Then Daichi began observing Kazuo even closer. The poor Tentomon just looked at his partner, who simply gave a shrug in return. He didn't really know what was going on either. Daichi was observing the spikes on the back of his elytra, and Kazuo sighed and decided to open up his wings so that Daichi could observe them closer. He might as well just role with it, he thought. From there, Daichi would get a better look at the wings and the back of Kazuo's body, where he would notice another metal spike... and the use of that would probably be shown off later.
After he finished observing Kazuo, Daichi confidently exclaimed that he knew nothing. The confidence alone was enough to make both Yuji and Kazuo face fault afterwards. Though Daichi did wonder what they were doing here, which he correctly guessed that Yuji hadn't experienced anything like this before. "Well, if this is what I think it is, I know people who've been through something like this before... but for me personally, yeah this is new territory for us... Yeah, staying in one spot's not a good idea. Let's go take a look around, find some clues about what's going on."
Though the group wouldn't have to wait long or go far for something to find them. Yuji saw something off in the corner of his eye... it looked like a Digimon, it had the same shape and everything, but it was off in many ways. Its body was like a Gammamon, but its head was more like a Renamon with Impmon ears. Its skin was peeling off and exposing wire frame underneath, its eyes were closed, and with every slow step it twitched. Basically, it was really freaky looking, something that would be chasing after you in a fever nightmare.
"Oh-oh god..." Yuji muttered as he took a step back.
"What's wrong with that Digimon...?!" Kazuo asked as he moved backwards, closer towards his own partner. They were both terrified at this point, unsure what was going on or what was wrong with this Digimon. Then more of those Digimon started appearing into existence, all twitching as they slowly walked towards the group.
"Gonna go off on a limb here and say that we don't wanna even get touched by those things," Yuji called out to the others. "Come on, we gotta run!"
Yuji would then try to run off the school grounds, but was stopped when he seemed to run into a wall that, by all accounts, shouldn't actually be there. "What in the- an invisible wall?"
"Yuji, they're getting closer!"
"Shit... we've got no choice, we gotta go into the school! Come on, kid!"

Digimons? Are those really Digimons? Daichi wondered whether that's true or not, but... all that he knew that the moment hes tare on this... creature thing, he feels some... strange feeling. At first it started as a disgust... like, seeing something cancerous and moving. That unsettling feeling that it shouldn't be real, but... as he looked at it more the more dread builds up... he quickly looked away, heart beating a crazy fast pace. Those... are not normal. And honestly, he missed the part where Yuji tried to run away and got stopped by invisible barrier. But to him, the idea of running otuside would be much worse than runnig inside anyway...
And so he followed. However, he noticed that... the hallway is also filled with these anomalies too. Drats they're inside!? And not just that, just like the ones before them, more of them seem to fade in to existence. There must be something about this place that constantly spawns them, but... What exactly?
Daichi kept running and running, not really caring where they're heading to... But for the moment they need something for self defense. Should they go to the lab? No... if these thing can appear out of nowhere in the corridor, what's the chance that they won't appear in the room?
Without thinking much, he decided to bring them to the library instead. If there are something wrong then they could just... topple the bookshelf into the mysterious creatures.
In the library, Daichi tried his best to recover from the sudden need of running away from those monsters. "...There are..." he started between gasps. "something that I need to.... know about this 'world'... First... whether we can drink the water or not... second... whether the vending machines works and whether we can eat the content or not. If we're going to stay here for hours at our end... We're... screwed..."
He then took out the DiM card that fallen back then. "...Also, are you...huff.... familiar with this?"
It was a dull colored one. There wasn't anything written on the top nor the bottom. Just a grey DiM card with no feature the slightest.
Thankfully it's seem their prayers for a small rest is granted. For the meantime, there wasn't any of those awful looking creature yet lurking here...

Well, running didn't seem to work, as there were just more of those freaky digital creature hellspawns inside this twisted version of their school. "Dammit, they're in here as well?!" Yuji asked to no one in particular. He could feel it, too... the building feeling of dread and despair the longer he looked at these things. The closer they came, the faster Yuji's heart was beating, and Kazuo could feel it too. Naturally, they both made the obvious decision and elected to just stop looking at them directly.
"Who cares, just keep going! Yuji, we need to fight back in some way!"
"Right!"
[Super Shocker]
"Super Shocker!"
From the metal spike on his back, Kazuo would fire a bolt of crimson electricity at the digital hellspawn creatures as the group ran. It was as if these things were just spawning in the hallways, and they had no choice but to just keep running. For the most part, Yuji just trusted the kid's judgement on where to run, since he seemed to have a good head on his shoulders. So, they ended up in the school library, where there thankfully didn't seem to be any of those creatures walking around. Not wanting to take chances, Yuji immediately closed the door and locked it... so as long as they didn't A: walk through walls, B: break down the door or C: spawn inside here, then the three of them should be safe.
Like Daichi, Yuji would spend his time huffing and puffing as he recovered from the run they did all the way up here. Meanwhile, Kazuo's personality seemed to undergo a sudden shift. "Finally, we're away from those creepy creepy things," Kazuo said as he shuddered, his tone of voice sounding much less mature than before. "Do you think they're even Digimon, Yuyu?"
"Honestly? I doubt it," Yuji casually told his partner, not phased at all by the voice tone shift. Must be a normal thing for Kazuo.
Daichi seemed to want to know some things, firstly if they were able to get fresh water or if the vending machines were still working. "I saw that the vending machines still had things in them while we were running... but going out there with those things walking around? Count me out."
"Yeah, um, I don't wanna do that, either," Kazuo sheepishly piped up. "Even though I am kinda hungry..."
"You're right though, kid... we do need to do something if we're gonna be holed up in here for a while... come to think of it, I still never got your name."
He then pulled out some kind of device, something similar to a USB drive, and showed it to Yuji, asking if he knew what it was. After looking at it for maybe five seconds, Yuji sighed and shook his head. "Sorry, never seen that before... although..." He looked down at his own Digivice, and found an entry slot that looked like that drive would fit in perfectly. "Why don't you try putting it into your own Digivice there and see what it does? Couldn't hurt to at least try."

It's at this time... that perhaps, the unsettling feeling turned into a total horror. The moment Yuji declared the attack, out of sudden, all the monsters stopped on their track. Their head slowly, creakingly even, turned at Yuji and Kazuo. They, out of sudden, become ENRAGED and chased after the two of them, letting out some infernal scream that Daichi couldn't even understand, but all he knew was his adrenaline immediately spiked up so high that he pretty much sprinted a personal record to the library.
"Yeah, I'm not in mood to try to get out and get some of those food too... and I don't think they're edible personally, considering... this world," he mused. The teen continued to nurse his rapidly beating heart. "...Huh, what? I haven't introduced myself huh... Shiki Daichi, first year middle school," he answered. But either way... Now that they're here, he guess they can rest for a bit... Hmn? Inserting the thing to his... wrist thing?
"...But you haven't seen this right? Are you sure it's safe? I mean, we sure have the same watch thingamajig model but..."
"Are you... lost?" out of sudden, they heard a voice from somewhere. "It's OK, I'm not hostile! Really, I'm just here to help." the voice quickly added just before they do something. "I'm going to show myself, alright? Is that fine with you guys?"
"....U-uh... s-sure I guess...?"
From the shadow appears a Digimon, an actual Digimon... it's not twitchy or body horror-y. It's basically a normal Digimon, an Agumon X. Kazuo would most likely feel strangely nostalgic feeling upon seeing him though, like... he was a light in middle of darkness, where you can feel safe and sound. Like he was that first spark that he felt when he first go on a great first adventure with someone...
"Hello!" he greeted.
"Uh, hello... um... who are you?"
"Me? Hmmm... that's a good question. I don't have name, I think, but I guess I'm an Agumon X!"
"Agu...mon?"
"Yup, that's me!"
"And... what are you doing in this place...? Where... are we?"
"Hmmm..." the Agumon X makes a confused expression "I don't know either. I'm looking for someone you see... Someone that seems that they will be my human partner. I have been looking and looking, but it seems like that I couldn't find them at all... But! I found you guys!"
"...Found... us?"
The Agumon X pointed at the egg. "The little guy was screaming for help. He's trying his best to protect you, to be born, but his shell is a bit tough you see... So hearing that, I came here.... He sure is lucky, being able to meet with his destined person! And not to mention, he's already quite fierce, trying to protect you the best he could!"
"...Is that so... thank you..." Daichi gave a rub to the egg. He could feel its warmth on his hand.
"...This place, you see... is full of hatred and jealousy."
"Hatred...? Jealousy?"
"That's right... to those who are partnered..." the Agumon X pointed at the egg... then to Kazuo. "...I don't know why, but I clearly feel the emotions of this place... This place... Is swirling with dark emotions. You should probably get out as soon as you can."
"....But... how can we do that?"
"...Hrm... I guess... you have to find the source of this place... and defeat it."
"Defeat it!? But..." Daichi's mind drifted to the Shademon from before.
"Don't worry! I'm sure that you can do it! But But you know... The little one, he said... if you don't want to be partnered and take a risk... he won't force you. He knew that this journey will be dangerous. Even if he have to fade and return back to data... as long as you're safe, he's fine with it."
"!?"
"...There are more than one exit after all. You are still at the beginning of your journey. You can tap out now, but... you won't be able later."
"Sensei... told me the same."
"I see... so there's already someone who told you that... In that case, have you found your answer?"
Daichi looked at the DIM Card on his hand... The Agumon X in front of him nodded. Immediately, he inserted it to his Digivice. The Digivice let out a bright light... and a voice unknown.
The Zero... awakened. The beginning is nigh. Those who starts their journey... those who plants seed of life... the breath of planet's will... may your bond stay true, and nurture the tiny life into an ultimate form.
At this, the egg suddenly become encased with crystals. The egg inside the crystal shrunk, shrunk and shrunk until it's no bigger than a small seed... and suddenly it pops and shows a small larval being inside the crystal, swimming inside.
"...So... this is my Digimon?"
Daichi's digivice beeped, and showed the name of the Digimon.
"Coremon..."
"At the moment, he's still a Baby," the Agumon X explained. "So he's unable to fight but... We don't have to fight. We just have to find the source. I will help you get out of here safely! This area is safe, though... I don't really know why, so we can get back here to rest if we're too tired. With that being said, if you need something else, just say before we go out!"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"
Both Yuji and Kazuo were quick to realize that attacking these demented creatures was a very, very bad idea. They weren't anticipating much, but the way that they all turned towards the two of them and let out this infernal scream of horrors was enough to get both the Tamer and the Digimon screaming and running for the hills. This was the most terrified that either of them had ever felt in their entire lives. Once they were inside the library, the kid finally properly introduced himself as Daichi Shiki, a first year middle school student. He wasn't quite sure about inserting the drive into his wrist Digivice, but the concerns of that would have to wait as the three of them heard a sudden, unfamiliar voice. Considering that they had just escaped a horde of actual monsters, Yuji and Kazuo both got into fighting stances as they turned towards the source of that voice, which then insisted that it was only here to help. It stepped out of the shadows, revealing itself to be...
An actual Digimon! An Agumon X, to be more specific.
As soon as this Digimon walked forward, Kazuo could immediately feel something within him just from looking at this Digimon. It was an almost nostalgic feeling, a feeling that Kazuo first got when he discovered that Yuji was his destined human partner. When the Agumon X greeted them, Kazuo had no hesitation with waving back to the little orange and blue dinosaur. "Hi!"
"It's a relief to know that you're not one of those things," Yuji said. He still wasn't 100% sure if this guy was trustworthy, but he noticed how Kazuo just automatically seemed happier once he showed up, like all that time running from horrifying hell spawn creatures never even happened.
This Agumon X would then explain his story, stating that he was looking for a human partner of his own. He couldn't find them, unfortunately, but he claimed he was able to hear the Digimon inside of the Digiegg calling out for help. He also explained that this area they were in was swindling with dark emotions like hatred and jealousy, specifically towards Digimon who were partnered. "Those things hate us because we have human partners? I didn't think other Digimon could even feel like that! All the other Digimon without partners seem to like us!"
"Well, then there's gotta be more to the story than we know."
The Agumon X explained that to get out of here, the group had to find the source of this place and defeat it. "Defeat it? Those things out there just get angrier and scarier when we try to fight back, I don't think we can do this."
This Digimon seemed to have faith in them, though... in both Yuji and Kazuo as well as Daichi and his own destined partner. Ultimately, Daichi was given a choice... would he accept his path towards becoming a chosen human in the Digital World? Or would he take this one and only chance to back out? Yuji and Kazuo watched with silence... this was Daichi's choice to make, and they didn't want to influence that decision at all.
Finally, Daichi inserted the drive into his Digivice. A voice called out to him from it, and the egg began to hatch. The baby Digimon inside looked like a larva swimming around inside of a crystal. "Coremon, huh? Congratulations, Daichi... you now have your own Digimon partner."
"He looks really cute... hi there, Coremon," Kazuo would say as he waved towards the baby Digimon, smiling underneath his mandible.
Agumon X then offered to help the group out with getting out of here safely. He explained that they just had to find the source of this place, and that this library would serve as a spot to rest if the group became too tired. Upon that last question of needing anything else, a low growling sound could be heard coming from Kazuo. The ladybug Digimon sheepishly put his claws over his stomach and looked at the Agumon X. "Do you have any tasty food?"

"Because those things... are not Digimon," the Agumon X grimly answered. "...Those are... huh? That's weird, I don't seem to remember much, like... it's on tip of my tongue but I can't seem to quite put the words out... but... let's just call those ones 'Anomalies' for the meantime, shall we? ....Or not, I think the proper term is that they're 'Frags'. Short of "Fragmented"."
"Fragmented..." Daichi repeated. "..Anomalies, aberrants..."
"Aberrants are what we call Digimons who are affected by Frags."
"!" Daichi's eyes widened at that info. "...Don't tell me... the stuff with Shademon from back then...?"
"Shademon?"
"There were a Shademon who appeared out of nowhere and apparently had power that no one thought it would have before and... well, it caused its abilities to behaves differently!"
"Oh... so you met them already?" the Agumon X looked at him with sympathy "Aberrants are what happened when Frags possessed a Digimon who passed through Digital World gate to human world. Frags latched to them, magnifying their respective dark emotions, one that are beneficial to the Frag themselves."
Daichi remembered how the Shademon seem to really enjoy inflicting fear... Perhaps...
"Then are you saying... that these Aberrants... will keep appearing?"
"I'm afraid so... and their greatest target..." the striped Agumon pointed at Yuji and Daichi himself
"! But.. why? Why are we targeted like that?"
"...That... I don't know, I'm sorry. It feels like I SHOULD know, but... at the same time I can't even tell. It's like trying to recall a piece of informaton that you know you have, just forgot how to tell it in concise manner..."
And then Kazuo asked for food. The Agumon X smiled. "Of course I do! Well, give me a bit would ya?" Out of nowhere, the Agumon X produced a huge, comical version of the green blanket thing that often appeared in showa manga to pack up stuff. He handed over several foods, albeit a lot of them are like convenience store meals.
"...Come to think of it, you can feel this world's elements, right, Agumon?"
"To certain extent, yes. Why?"
"Then is the food outside this room edible?"
"...Hmmm... how to say... I'd say it's better for you to give up on them unless you're fine praying for thirty minutes."
"Eh?"
"Do you know the thing called 'Kotodama'?"
"I do know what it is, but... what's the relation?"
"There was a book in 2004 regarding a pseudoscience, saying that molecules of water changes if you curse on it or if you pray for it... have you heard?"
"I'm afraid not really, but I can understand the concep-- ....no way."
"Exactly, you can say that the food outside are cursed," the Agumon X explained. "It's filled with so much malice and hatred against chosen and their Digimon that if you eat it, you will get poisoned or even worse. To combat it you must infuse it with blessing and positive emotions."
"I can't believe this, we're discussing pseudoscience with a Digimon. This... this is kinda illogical."
"But," the Agumon smiled "our existence are always illogical. It's nothing short of a miracle, and exactly because it is a miracle that we can exist side by side like this. There are things that cannot be scientificly explained, and that's the beauty of it... You just... have to believe. As long as your heart knows it's true, isn't it enough already?"
Daichi did not say much to it and immediately took a bento box and eat its content. "...Say, Agumon, can I fight with Coremon? ...I mean, he's still a baby, right?"
"He is, and that's fine... sooner or later, he will evolve to a battle ready form. Don't worry, human and Digimon's bond are strong after all."

Yuji and Kazuo were both surprised when the Agumon said that those Digimon-like creatures outside the library weren't actually Digimon. "They're not?" Yuji asked, with both him and Kazuo looking right at the Agumon with surprised expressions on their faces. "Then... what are they?"
Agumon would explain that, as well. He couldn't quite remember what they were called, but the term "Fragmented" or "Frag" seemed to be what they would call them from here on out. He also explained that these Frags could actually possess Digimon, turning them into something called Aberrants. Just the very idea of this was enough to scare Kazuo. "Those things can just take over my body?!" the Tentomon screamed, his antennae shooting straight up in fear as he put his claws over his mandible. Even Yuji was very uncomfortable by the idea of his little buddy being taken over by a Frag.
This seemed to remind Daichi of something else, though... something about a Shademon with powers that a Shademon shouldn't normally have, one that acted differently from other Digimon. Yuji and Kazuo, of course, had no idea what Daichi was talking about... aside from that time when the school urged students to get home before dark. Was that related to the Shademon?
Agumon continued explaining that Aberrants are what happened when Frags possessed a Digimon going through the Digital World gate, latching onto them and amplifying the Digimon's dark emotions for its own benefit. They were going to keep appearing, and their biggest target of all... well, he simply pointed to Yuji and Daichi for that answer. And by extension... all chosen humans. Yuji felt his stomach drop as the implications of this news hit him like a dump truck. "There are dozens, maybe even hundreds of humans partnered with Digimon. If what you're saying is true, then that means we're all in danger."
Then Kazuo's nutritional needs made themselves known. Thankfully, Agumon had an answer for that. He pulled out a comical green blanket and handed over a bunch of food, a lot of them being convenience store meals. Drool was coming from the Tentomon's mandible as he looked at this spread. "Whoa! Where did- do you just have this stuff on you at all times or something?"
Of course they both wasted no time digging into the food, with Daichi being able to see how Kazuo opens his mandible to eat. He somehow had a tongue, despite bugs not having tongues in real life. While they were eating, Daichi brought up a good question about the food in this weird in-between world, to which Agumon advised not to even bother with it. Thanks to pseudoscience, there were curses placed upon it that would leave whoever ate it to be poisoned, or much worse. "Well, glad we had you to warn us, otherwise Kazuo probably would've tested it himself." Daichi himself was stumped with how he was discussing pseudoscience with a Digimon, to which Yuji simply replied: "You'll get used to it."
As they ate, Daichi asked if Coremon could fight, despite being a Fresh level Digimon. "He'll grow into a big strong Digimon like me someday!" Kazuo cheered, lifting both his claws into the air in the process.
"In the meantime, leave the fighting to us," Yuji added. He wasn't sure if Digivolving was a good idea or not, considering how those Frags reacted to being attacked... could they Digivolve? Or was a Champion level Digimon going to be enough? Either way, they couldn't stay here forever. They had to find the source of this place as soon as they were done eating.

"Exactly," the Agumon nodded at Yuji and Kazuo's apprehension. "Frags completely lacked Digicore. The best way you can use to describe them is... 'Zombie'. They're not even like Skull Greymon, an undead Digimon with almost nonfunctioning Digicore. They're... outright zombie, an anomaly that weren't suppose to exist. They're... simply speaking, junk datas."
Junk data.... that word seem to rang in Daichi's mind like it's important. He probably should make a mental note of it.
"Oh don't worry, Frags cannot possess chosen Digimons... and that's why they hate you. Frags... are negative emotions concentrated."
"Do you know their actual source?" Daichi asked. The Agumon however shook his head negative.
"....................I see."
At the number of hundreds, Agumon X chuckled. "...You're off by two zeros at least. But yes, it does speaks volume of what kind of crisis you humans are facing... and unfortunately, I could do nothing but to help you right now. And what these two said... I think you should leave the fighting to them for the moment... and me that is."
But enough of that now. After they have replenished their stamina, ate and drink their fill... It's time to move out.
Coremon moved inside his crystal shell, swimming around. Hmn?
"...What's up?"
"This Digimon is completely new species," the Agumon mused. "I don't think I have seen anything like him before, so... perhaps this movememnt meant something. For example, like telling that it knows the location of the source."
Coremon rapidly swam horzontally.
"That's a no I think" Daichi commented.
"Then, how about locating enemies?"
This time Coremon answered positively by swimming up and down.
"Ah...!" Daichi suddenly voiced out "...this means that he's trying to create a compass or sort?" another up and down movemet. "Ah! I see, it's like a sonar! In that case, please help us, Coremon--no, Geo!"
Geo happily swam around the crystal as he began to swim around once more, this time seem to actually form a sonar like movement.
"Hm, this makes me wonder how effective is his range though. And if this is a normal ability."
"I think it's just an innate stuff baby hate," Agumon commented. "Babies are very sensitive to emotions and the feeling of hatred and envy...probably would make any babes get scared and fearful. So rather than an ability, perhaps it's an instinct or sort?"
"Better than anything... Well then Senpai, are you ready to get out of here? We should probably avoid any low level Frags and just focus on looking where the source is at... Say, Agumon, are the source of Frags, like... big?"
"Usually."
"In that case should we look for area where it might be hiding in? Let's say... the gym building."
