"Oh I'm sure I've gotten on fine with a couple of them along the way. It really just is that one core element at the heart of things. I don't think that an organization with that many resources should be hiding in the shadows policing a border that most people don't even know exists when there are people on either side of the border who they could be helping instead. I don't stand at the threshold of the Digital World waiting to shake my head and click my tongue and anybody who gets caught out of line. I'm out there, sticking my nose in it and looking for problems that I can actually solve." Zack said, leaning back and rubbing his temples with his index and middle finger. Crossing one leg over the other as he went on. "I'm all for having a code, having a set of rules that the people with the power can't step over. Keeps them honest. But when you're so obsessed with making sure that the rules are followed and that "justice is served" against the bad guys rather than trying to protect people...it becomes a question of what your goal is. To protect the innocent or to punish the wicked." Zack said, again looking at an undefined spot on the table in front of him as he let his appraisal hang for a moment.

Mandrake nodded along with Zack's words as if taking them in while trying to find the best way to communicate his opinion on the matter before he said "I agree that set of rules can keep those in power in check and, even though I am not one to patrol to protect the weak like yourself as I tend to try to avoid trouble, I think someone like yourself is a good counterbalance to those in AEGIS as a whole."
"Zack, it sounds like you would get along best with the members of this organization that are potentially more like yourself or those with relatively easy going temperaments as a whole. You might also get along with potential pranksters which explains how we tend to get along." Lothar said picking up on the energy and trying to make folks feel better even if he was coming off as a bit awkward.
Meanwhile Circe was watching all of Zack's movements carefully and when there were no words being spoken the sweet spider child rose from her seat before making her way over to Zack. She didn't know what it was about him but she somehow didn't feel afraid of him and she had taken sometime to fully open up to Lothar. Maybe the timid child was getting somewhat bolder. When she reached Zack she slowly reached out placing her hand on his arm before she asked "Uhm..Zack, are you okay?"
Zack perked up from whatever internal dialogue was going on inside his own mind at the tough of Circe's hand. He smiled softly, not wanted to do anything that would jar her out of this moment of growth. He slowly lifted one of his hands and pressed it against the top of her head, mussing it slightly and smiling down at her.
"Eh, just the internal struggles of being an adult, Circe. One of the last fun parts about growing up is you have to hold yourself accountable not only for the things you do but for the things you think and say. Sometimes I just get a little bit caught up in my own self reflection, that's all." Zack said, taking his hand away and picking his head back up to face the rest of the conversation. "I do my best to not become to brooding superhero standing on the edges of the rooftops staring into the middle distance but I suppose a little bit of healthy brooding is a sign of growing up." He laughed a little at that seeming to have fully shaken off whatever internal pressure had left his eyes wandering and his energy low.
"This is why I prefer the mechanical sciences. Development of internal philosophy is needlessly complex when one can spend the equivalent amount of time turning a blender into a remote controlled helicopter." Violet said, the specificity of the example and the exasperated look on their father and sister's faces made it clear that that wasn't a hypothetical tossed out on a whim

Circe flinched slightly at Zack's touch out of habit but when no pain came with it she visibly relaxed staring at the human known as Zack with curiosity in her sapphire eyes. "I k-know holding oneself accountable is important but is being an adult really that hard?" Circe asked as she scrunched her face as if trying to understand.
"Sometimes being an adult can be hard but you should be fine as long as you try your best to be a good person like I taught you." Mandrake said as Circe made her way back over to the disguised Wizardmon standing near him. Then he looked at Zack and said "Indeed such self reflection is healthy and from what I've learned about you, Zack, is that you don't seem to let things hold you down for long."
After Violet mentioned her preference of mechanical sciences and spending time turning a blender into a remote controlled helicopter Lothar chuckled before he said "I am guessing by the look of exasperation on your face, Zack, that this is something Violet has done before. I hope this blender was some broken one you found in the garbage."
Mandrake and Lothar had finished their drinks and were beginning to get up. After everything was paid for Circe took Mandrake's hand and said "Well we'll contact you with the wedding invites soon. Oh and just as Marigold will be one of the flower girls, Zack would you like to be my best man?"
"Not a surprising choice, Mandrake, as LJ will be my best man."
After words Mandrake and his family made their way out of the restaurant before waving goodbye.
"Being an adult is the same as being a kid, just that you don't have quite as many people looking over your shoulder to see if you're making good choices. It's a blessing and a curse really." Zack said with a smile as he did his best to reassure Circe that growing up wouldn't be all hardship and struggle. There was so much to learn along the way.
"No worries, the blender drone was disabled with only a small loss of hair and no loss of life. We keep a pretty tight eye on our little tinker belle." Marigold nudged her sibling with her shoulder and giggled softly, Violet trilling in response as they all paid up their tabs.
"Mandrake that's...I'd be honored to take part in the ceremony, of course. Better not skimp out on the ring then. Not that it could ever match the beauty of what you two have got." Zack said, bowing at the waist as he accepted the responsibility of that role in the ceremony. Sniffing slightly just to make sure he didn't start crying at the emotionality of it all. Beneath he every witty line there really was just a man who held his heart on his sleeve in everything he did. "You folks drive safe, especially with that little one in the car." Zack said as he waved them out the door, walking out himself and taking another path down the street.
"Don't forget that we must make a stop by the Mandarake Complex at 4:30 this afternoon." Violet said, reminding them of their important date with a line and a new toy.
"That's alright, what time is it now?" Zack said, pulling out his phone to see a fat 4:21 staring back up at him. With a strangled yelp he took off at a sprint toward the store, his children laughing at his time management all the while
