"And I- we're really glad we met you too!"
Just as the bros predicted, Trailmon Raccoon Dog was a really quiet Trailmon. In fact, it would've been just like a perfectly ordinary train ride if not for a small, tinny voice coming from the speakers. "N-now approaching the Eastern Timberlands," it said. While its voice was meek and small, it came so out of nowhere that it almost made Elliot jump a little. He had almost forgotten Raccoon Dog could talk thanks to how quiet the train had been! Nevertheless, excited murmuring bubbled up as Digimon discussed their destinations, their plans, and their days with one another.
Outside the windows, the sun and surf of the Southern Tropics gave way to rolling green hills and lush forests. Compared to the hot, heavy, and humid air of the Tropics, the breeze blowing in through Raccoon Dog's windows was crisp and cold. Outside the window was a sparkling blue lake, smaller than the vast oceans Haley had seen but still quite gorgeous. Occasionally Digimon could be seen relaxing at the water's surface or flying through the skies, but they were too distant to clearly make out as one species or another.
A station came into view in the distance. It was a lot smaller than the one by Whitewater, and only two tracks seemed to come in and out of it, but judging by Raccoon Dog slowing down it seemed to be their destination for the day. "And here we are," he said, pulling into the station with a halt. "The Village of Beginnings is to your right, the Server Woods to your left. T-thank you for riding!"
"Thank you!" Elliot said cheerfully as the doors opened. This station was a lot less crowded than the last one, thankfully. The wooden paneling made it feel a bit more homey than the polished and pristine one from before, and it might have been more Haley's style.
"How was the ride?" Elliot asked, as he reached over and tried to shake Isaac awake. His brother was horrible at staying up on public transportation, especially when he hadn't slept much in the past few days.

So, they were reaching their destination. That made Haley happy; while their travels had been very pleasant, she was glad they had finally arrived to their destination. The Trailmon's small voice was something unexpected, but was it that much that it made Elliot jump? She giggled at little at that, finding that reaction tad cute.
"Thank you." She said right after Elliot, once the Trailmon opened its doors. She hadn't paid much attention to it, but apparently, Isaac was... fast asleep? Huh, this was the first time she had seen someone sleeping inside something that moved, but there was a first time for anything, she guessed.
"The journey was awesome! The sights were very good." Haley responded to Elliot's question, helping him to gently wake up the boy's older brother. "I didn't know Isaac could sleep when aboard a train. That's a pretty... interesting talent, I gotta say."
Hopefully he'd wake up soon, or otherwise, they'd have to drag him out of the train, well, at least if that train had another immediate destination that wasn't this place. If not, they had plenty of time.
"What about you? Do you enjoy traveling?" The redhead asked, trying to strike conversation. "You seemed to be somewhat used to this."

Elliot laughed a little as Haley helped him shake his brother awake. "I know, right? I can barely sleep in my own bed, and here he is sleeping away on a moving train. I'm pretty sure he sleeps enough for both of us." While he was mostly good natured about it, there was the slightest bit of irritability in it. If Haley listened closely, she would hear at least a hundred ignored alarms and almost-late school days. It was probably the closest to upset sounding Elliot had been this whole journey.
"Anyway, I'm not really the biggest on traveling. Its more of a necessity than anything. But its also the easiest way to get around the Digital World, so I don't mind it. The exploration's where the real fun stuff is, anyway. How about you? Enjoyed your first train ride?"
Thankfully, with one final shake, Isaac's eyes fluttered open. He looked around, stretching slightly and stifling a yawn. "Jeez, sorry for passing out on you guys," Isaac said. "Public transportation kills me every time. One good thing about the noisier ones is that at least they're too loud for me to doze off."
The boys started to leave the train, peering out the station windows to get a hold of their bearings. Sure enough, there was a series of quaint huts in the distance that practically screamed Village of Beginnings. A large, peaceful statue of an Angemon stood high in the distance, and the barest hints of gentle pan flute music could be heard drifting off into the wind. A few multicolored blobs seemed to be hopping around in a carefree fashion, the absolute smallest a Digimon could be. It may have been pretty far on the horizon, but it easily looked close enough to be within running distance.
"And there's the village. Think we'll see any Digimon like yours over there?" Isaac asked, grinning.

For a second, Haley was surprised at finding that Elliot was... upset? Whoa, she had expected pretty much any emotion but that one from him. This was so strange... Or Isaac sleeping around had gotten them in more than one trouble in the past. Either or.
"I can imagine... Wonder if any of my siblings were heavy sleepers too. If I had siblings, that is. Must've been a pretty interesting experience if I did. I guess..."
And he didn't seem like he liked traveling either, preferring to explore around instead. That was a fun way to see things, she guessed. To discover things nobody else saw before instead of just going through roads that others paved. She could dig the thrill of going through uncharted lands.
"Uh, I didn't mind it at all, to be honest." The redhead said, shrugging a bit. "So, I guess it was good. I think seeing the same sights over and over again would've gotten boring, so I guess I'm glad I didn't remember any of this? Or at least that's what I think."
Isaac woke up some time later, and they could finally get off the train. So this was the Village of Beginnings, huh? She had to admit that the place looked like a child day care, cept that things were bigger overall and that cribs didn't seem to be very dangerous. It looked like a comfy place, to be honest.
That was the first time she saw so many babies being so careless through a whole area. Maybe the Village was just that safe? It sounded like an awesome place if the babies could hang out without worrying about nobody messing with that.
"Hopefully we will." She answered to Isaac's question. "I'm not sure if we'll find my partners' species in this place, but who knows. It'd be a pleasant surprise. Did you find your spirits in here, on in another place?"

"Hey, its like having your first adventure again. It must be nice getting to experience it all like it was brand new," Elliot commented, voice somewhat dreamy. It probably helped that his first Digital World experience was a mess. Sure, the part where Isaac met his girlfriend was fun, at least, but it took a lot of stress and fatigue to get there. It probably helped that being thrown into the grody-as-heck Shibuya River was now #2 on his list of experiences he wanted to forget at any cost. "Anything you hope to do for it?"
It seemed like Elliot wouldn't be able to forget that experience soon, though, because Haley asked about how the duo found their spirits. "Oh boy, that's a long story," he said, laughing fondly. "Well, started out when we went to check out the river-"
"-Which is really more like a septic tank these days, just a warning-"
"And that's where we found this weird demon-looking kid. We found out later she was a spirit user, but at first we thought we were just talking with a furry because of the ears and tail. Anyway, a bunch of punks had a problem with her, so Elliot tried to help watch her back, and then one of them just flung him in the river."
"Never, ever, ever let that happen to you. Its so gross," Elliot interjected.
"So I knocked him right out," Isaac said, grinning proudly. He neglected to mention this was a cheap shot via a Monster Manual to the head. "A few of his buddies kick the crap out of me, but the other spirit user turned into a wizard and scared 'em off. She tells me something about the Digital World, then bails. So what else am I gonna do but dive in there and save my bro?"
"He got kidnapped by this giant living tank. Kraktoof, he called himself. Thankfully a few other tamers there were to help me find my way around, and we were able to get to Isaac and fight Kraktoof off. That's when we found the spirits, buried in this giant crater. It was, uh . . ."
"Long story short, we had no idea how to work the things and accidentally fused together. Like how you met us, except we were a lot smaller and less cool looking. That took us a while to get the hang of, but at least by that point we had our spirits."
"So now are you gonna tell her the part where your girlfriend met you by plucking us out of a trash can?"
Isaac flushed a bright red. "N-no need for that story!" he protested. He hated telling people that one!
"Enjoying the Village so far? Air's really nice around here," Elliot said, resisting the urge to giggle at a tease gone so successfully.

Haley listened attentively to Elliot as he retold how they got their spirits. It was really exciting! The redhead listened raptly at the tale, growing increasingly excited until the story's climax. Well, at least until...
"A trash can? Normally I'd say something like 'Should've been very romantic!', but..." The girl was undoubtedly at a loss due to that last bit. She had to admit that it sounded like a lot of... a strange kind of fun, however. "I think a trash can is a pretty weird place for the fireworks to explode and to hear the bells ringing. That must've been a really funny anecdote, though."
Even if Isaac didn't look to be that comfortable with that one. Oh well, that was fine. It wasn't as if she could blame him, even though if it made her wonder.
"And what about, Elliot? Look like you're quite the heartbreaker." She couldn't resist snickering at her own comment. "Have you met your may-be special someone yet? It wouldn't be all that fair if Isaac got all the fun, would it?"
Like any girl her age, romance was a pretty hot topic. And that made her wonder, did she have a boyfriend, back when her memory was a thing? Not the most important detail of her life, but probably pretty significant. Oh, right, his question.
"Yeah, this place is awesome! Seeing so many babies playing around is really... relaxing." Or maybe it was the fact that she loved being with small children, even if they were beings of another world. "Hopefully I'll get mine to hatch soon. It'd be super awesome if they could get to play with the others, don't you think?"
If anything, she grew even more hyped about meeting (again or not) her partners by the second. Why they wouldn't just hatch?

"I know, right?" Elliot said, trying his hardest not to let his laughter flow freely. "But I think that makes it really sweet, too. My bro can find love, even if he's trash." That was it. Now he couldn't stop laughing, pushing himself just a bridge too far.
"Ah. But seriously, its just more proof you and Maia are great for each other, right? Finding love against the odds. What could be better?"
"Remember the whole 'we fused together' part?" Isaac explained, a good deal of red still fading from his cheeks. "Well, we didn't really know how to change back. We thought going back to the human world would trigger it, but no dice. That meant we had to hide out until we found a solution, so we figured we'd just hide under an empty garbage can so nobody saw us. No sense making everyone freak out and getting us in trouble, right? Worst case scenario, if someone saw us, I figured they'd think we were a raccoon."
"It didn't work. At all. But at least we got startled so bad it split us up again."
Unfortunately, they couldn't tease Isaac forever. Soon the shoe was on the other foot, and now Haley had Elliot in her sights! He didn't seem to react much to the first part, but at mention of being a heartbreaker he turned quite red. "Huh? Oh, no, not really," he said. "Thanks for the complement, though!"
At mention that she was enjoying the journey, Elliot smiled. "It really is, isn't it?" he said. "There's a lot of breathtaking views and awesome journeys in the Digital World, but this is shaping up to be one of my favorite places."
The village caretaker, a serene yet exhausted looking Elecmon, wandered up to the three. Whether human, Digimon, or anything in between, it was critical for him to keep a vigilant eye on newcomers when the newborns were out. It was fortunate that they were children themselves, or he would've come out with his hackles raised and his tail sparking. "Hey there, strangers!" he said, the smile on his face every bit as genuine as it was weary. "What brings you all around to these parts?"

Well, at least if Haley had to discern which was the funny brother, she'd have definitely chosen Elliot. Guess that balanced Isaac being better with names? Probably.
He also seemed to be the storyteller of the two, being quite good at retelling their adventures. Maybe he'd write them down as memoirs or something of the like? That'd be really neat, at least in the girl's mind.
"Sounds really romantic~." At least Elliot made it sound that way. "Hopefully I'll be able to meet her someday. I guess the friends of my friends are my friends, too. Not to say that Maia sounded like a really cool person."
Like, literal the best. She listened to the rest of their tale, concluding in that it had been one hell of a ride, especially for a first evolution. And made her wonder if she lived something similar when she met her partners, or at least the first time they evolved. Maybe she lived epic adventures too; wouldn't that be neat?
Before she could ask anything about this place in particular, however, a red digimon appearing, apparently, the places caretaker? That was interesting, to say the least.
Haley bowed slightly and waved at him as a greeting, not really sure of how to act until they got asked a question. What was their purpose here. Well, that was an easy.
"We're traveling! I'm kinda new on this place, and these two are showing me sights." She quickly explained, content obvious on her voice. "It looks so peaceful and tranquil... I really like it."

"Oh yeah, she's the best. Really kind and patient. And her partner's hilarious!" Elliot said. Sure, Kuu was an acquired taste. A really, really acquired taste. But he was really great when people got to know him! "I bet she'd love to meet you, too. After all, she knows a cool person when she sees one." Coming out of anyone else's mouth that probably would've sounded like a cheap attempt at being smooth, but instead Elliot said it without a shred of irony. "Maybe once you're back in the human world, we can show you where she's at. Ooh, or maybe we'll bump into her while she's here! Wouldn't that be cool?"
The other bros bowed as Haley did, smiling at the Elecmon. He bashfully rubbed the back of his head at the complements, a few arcs of static electricity kicking up as he did that. It didn't seem to hurt him, but once he noticed his hair was standing up on end he started hastily matting it back down. "Aw, shucks. Glad the Village's nice enough to be a spot on your road map," he said, voice swelling up in pride at the compliment. "We all do our part to keep this place beautiful. And safe, too. Just look at all these happy tots!" He motioned with a slight sweep of his arm to the In-Training and Fresh Digimon cheerily bounding around. It was an idyllic-looking paradise, where nobody seemed to have a care in the world going on.
"Say, any of you three got a Digimon of your own? Don't usually get humans wandering around on your lonesome around here." Immediately, Elliot and Isaac pointed at each other. It was their favorite dumb joke whenever anyone asked who their partners were. The Elecmon tilted his head, confused, but a flash of their D-Tectors helped clear up any questions he had. "Ah, spirit users. That makes sense.
And you, miss?"

"Sounds like a great idea, actually!" Haley was already expectant about what kind of person Maia was, even if that was something she'd find out later. Smiling a bit at Elliot's comment, she couldn't say anything else about that until the Village's caretaker arrived.
Lest to say, she totally got what he meant. The Village seemed to be an oasis of calm across a savage world. Well, as savage as the Digital World could be, in all fairness. Thus far, it seemed to be tame enough, even though Elliot and Isaac already told her that there were dangers lurking around. Even if the redhead had the hunch that their statements were real, she still wanted to find out by herself.
"These little guys must be really grateful towards you." She said a bit blithely. "Looks like the perfect place for small digimons to grow until they can fend off by themselves."
Her partners, though? Well, she guessed that they counted as digimons, even if...
"Well, I have three, supposedly?" Haley explained, reaching to the three eggs and bringing them out. "They don't look like they'll hatch anytime soon, though. Hopefully they'll be good digimons! I'm actually very happy about getting to meet them!"

"You wouldn't believe how much their trust pays off. Its part of why we can always count on the Village of Beginnings to be such a safe haven." He calmly smiled, thinking of generations upon generations of Digimon that have risen up to fight for Primary Village when the chips were down. Whether passing tamers, Digimon of the Timberlands who were born and raised there, or even former villains who were able to find new life and redemption thanks to the village. "Everyone does their part to help keep things running smoothly 'round here. Like the meat farm Veggiemon's been running. Oh, the little guys have been loving it!"
He leaned toward Haley's eggs slightly, "Lemme take a look at these. Hm, I don't think I've seen anything like these two before. But that spotted one? That's a Fufumon egg! Not the most common, but we've had a few of them raised here in the past. They become kind of snakelike, and then turn into these big, furry dragons. Although what comes after that part's usually a lot less predictable. Digimon can be almost anything, you know?"
Sure enough, there was a delicious smell wafting over from the back of the village. Elecmon stood up on his hind legs, sniffing at it curiously before perking up in alarm. "Well! I should get on that farm, speaking of. These little guys are terrors when they're hungry.
Say, are you kids hungry? Food here's a bit simple, but I'd be remiss to not offer you a bit of hospitality before you go." Elliot's eyes lit up at the statement, but he turned to Haley and Isaac first. He wouldn't want to hold them up if they weren't feeling it, even if he really wanted some food.

Haley listened raptly to the Elecmon's words. It wasn't really hard to guess that this place had an extensive history, but hearing it first-hand was amazing. She didn't want to think too deeply about the bloodshed that was necessary for this place to be a peaceful one, but she also had to admit that even the Village had a dark past. Seemingly... strife was unavoidable in this world.
She handed the eggs towards the Elecmon, and was surprised for the old digimon to not to recognize which species two her partners were. The other, however... a Fufumon? That sounded like an interesting digimon!
"A reptile that can evolve into a dragon? That's awesome! Now I'm even more excited to get to meet her!" Joy was evident on her voice. "Hopefully she'll hatch soon!"
The offering of food caught her completed off guard, however. While she appreciated the kindness...
"Is it really okay? I mean, wouldn't that be imposing on you? Having more mouths to feed must be taxing..." She didn't want to be a burden, after all. "And what about you guys? What do you think of this?"
While Elliot and Isaac had been silent through the Elecmon's various explanations, they surely had an opinion about this. Well, in all honesty, if the Elecmon insisted, she'd have no other choice than to accept, but she didn't know about the brothers' opinions.

"Its the least I can do for a few weary travelers in need of a pick-me-up," Elecmon commented, looking Haley up and down. "Heck, you look like you haven't had a bite to eat in days! 'Sides, the babies are really picky eaters. Ask for a whole plateful, eat three bites. There's always plenty left over, if that's your concern." The Village of Beginning's reputation for hospitality did not go unearned. In fact, Elecmon seemed like he would (very patiently) drag the trio to the dinner table if they didn't get a move-on soon.
Thankfully, Elliot didn't seem to have any reservations about that. "Oh heck yes, I'm starvi-
I-I mean, if everyone else is okay with it." He caught himself pretty quickly, but it was clear Elliot couldn't contain his hunger much longer. He kept casting long, lingering glances at the table, and was priming himself to get moving the second Isaac and Haley gave the sendoff. It was hard to blame him, though. When so much of the Digital World could be cold and distant toward humans, hearing offers of home-cooked meals was one heck of a temptation to deal with. It was just like home, but with red things!
"Heh. I can't say no to my bro. We owe you one, okay Elecmon?" Isaac added. With the ability to turn into a giant demon-dragon, he didn't have much trouble imagining what sort of favor he could cash in. If a Kuwagamon or a Woodmon suddenly snapped and started marching on the village, he'd fly right over to put them back in their place.
Elecmon clasped his front paws together happily. "Excellent! It's always a pleasure having company to dine with. Gives the babies something to talk about, you know? Well, it's right this way!" He scampered off to a large picnic table, some modest offerings set up on top of it. There were simple piles of bone-in meat, looking like they came right out of a cocoon, and a few leafy greens underneath the pile. "Don't worry about the bone, by the way. Meat slides right off," Elecmon explained, Isaac having the dawning realization that this crazy Digimon was going to feed each of these babies individually.
Who, speaking of, now had their eyes laser-focused on the trio of newcomers. It would only be a matter of seconds before they filled the air with a relentless shower of questions. The only thing stopping them seemed to be that none wanted to speak first.

Well, in all honesty... Haley felt as if she could eat a cow whole. She'd said the very same words as Elliot if it wasn't because she felt like manners were above needs, at least right now. She was glad that the Elecmon insisted on being so kind, however.
"Thank you very much!" For now, that was all she could say as she followed the group. She definitely felt like she owed the Elecmon, and would probably try to get back at him in the future. But for now... her empty stomach felt like her only concern.
The food itself was simple, yet would definitely do the job at chasing off those pangs of hunger. Man, this so embarassing, but she could feel herself salivating over the food. Maybe she had realized just now the full extent of her hunger. And now... she really wanted to eat. And she'd done so, if it weren't for the inquiring stares of the babies that shared table with them.
"Um... hi?" She greeted a little awkwardly, not sure how to react at them. "Pleased to meet you all?"
Well, it wasn't her smoothest greeting, but she guessed it'd do, right? She directed a pleading look to the two brothers, as if asking for help, even though right now the only thing she wanted was to go at the pile of food.

"H-hi!" Elliot said, voice soft from self-consciousness. With all the eyes on him his own eye contact naturally dropped, and be blushed softly from his nervousness about being in the spotlight. Being the focused when around a few people? That was fine. But audiences killed him.
Thankfully, Isaac was a lot more comfortable in this situation. He grinned cheerily, turning to all of he happy babies. "Hey there, everyone!" he said. "How's your day been going?"
That opened up the floodgates. The table became a cacophony as every Digimon starting talking over each other. It was all pretty simple stuff, with 99% of the answers being some variation of bouncing, eating, or bouncing while eating, However, despite them being such simple topics, they were chattering about them as if they were the most exciting and revolutionary things in the world. Considering that so far the village was the boundary of their entire life, it probably was the most exciting thing they've done so far.
As they talked over each other into an indecipherable mass of words, Elecmon began distributing out the meat. Elliot took a self conscious look at his, shyly took a small bite, and then after getting a solid taste began eagerly devouring his. Isaac proved much more measured, his portions smaller and more contained. Then again, even Elliot's eagerness paled in comparison to that of the Digimon here. A Punimon didn't even wait for Elecmon to put the meat on his plate, leaping up and practically inhaling it right off of the bone. "See what I mean?" Elecmon said, somewhat sheepishly. This seemed to be the trend with most of the Digimon, who judging by their relative portion size to body size were apparently 99% stomach.
A Yokomon to the right turned to Haley, smiling softly at her. She seemed a lot more calm than the rowdy pack that was currently talking in between mouthfuls of meat. "I love your leaves!" she chirped, smiling happily as she admired Haley's hair.
