Charlie didn't know where she had found herself at, it looking nothing like her home back in Shibuya. All she could remember was there being a power outage in the middle of the night... and the next thing she knew, she found herself here at these crater-filled plains. There were patches of grass seemingly starting to take root once more, but it looked like something tore up the place.
Despite being in an unknown land, Charlie was not afraid. Whatever happened that led her here was at least kind enough to have brought along her backpack, still filled with all the essentials that a young sheriff like herself would need. Some rope for detaining ne'er do wells, a wrench (okay that wasn't really what sheriffs had normally, but it didn't hurt to have), all the trail mix one would want and a few bottles of water. She'd have liked to have had a gun too, but her dad never let her buy one.
She didn't know where she was, nor could she see any sign of civilization in sight, but she wasn't discouraged. The small girl always had a positive outlook on life... and this was no exception!
An unknown land... sounded like the perfect place to exert her authority! She was "the sheriff" and this place would be HER frontier. Now all she had to do was find some varmints to apprehend.
The girl swiftly got off the dirtied ground of the plains, she putting her hoodie over her dark blonde hair. Deciding to pick a direction and head straight, she began to make her way towards the unknown.

The state of Network Plains upset him greatly, with craters spewed haphazardly across the landscape. Although he hadn't been alive during the catastrophe that had caused it, he still felt... responsible somehow. Server Woods had been blessed with untamed beauty, whereas the plains had been blessed with looking like the surface of Swiss cheese.
At least he'd managed to assist with the mining operations nearby, so that the plains could eventually be recovered using some of the money afterwards.
But now, it was about time for him to go home, and take a much-needed break. At this very moment, he was traversing the dirt road back to the station - his bright yellow legs painted with a layer of dust from the walking, and his long body doing a slight weaving motion along the rocky earth. He still had plenty of time before the Trailmon would come, leaving him at a slow pace, with intermittent bouts of daydreaming and staring into the distance instead of where he was going.
Despite the plains' tarnished state, the grass still billowed and waved gently in the wind, an admittedly therapeutic sight. Sometimes it was just nice to observe the scenery.
But maybe if Rinji had spent less time looking at the grass, and more time looking where he was going, he'd see the human approaching on the horizon. A small figured silhouette, dwarfed by the light of the sun, but there nonetheless.

The girl wandered aimlessly across the plateau, taking care not to lose her footing while stepping through the various ditches and plot holes. It all didn't look really natural... If anything, it looked something tore everything up a long time ago! She didn't know what would devastate this little wasteland, but it seemed that it was already in the midst of recovering. Once again, nature is taking it's property back.
As the girl wandered, she caught sight of something reflecting sunlight off it's carapace back. It didn't take long for her to have her interest piqued.
It was a big bug! A centipede actually, so not a bug she'd correct herself. Still way bigger than any she's ever seen. The thin was long... it must have been longer than than her! Her classmates used to tell her stories about as they are called "Mukade", how they like to hide in shoes or toilets and their bites are painfully toxic, some people hallucinating from their bites! While she's seen the giant centipedes back home, none of them came close to the size of this guy!
Curiously, the girl began to approach the giant arthropod, a look of awe as she watched them scuttle. What kind of place was this where centipedes grew this big? It was awesome! She cautiously stayed about a dozen meters away, not wanting to spook the creature. She while never has been bit by a centipede (wasp, not so much) she didn't want to risk today being the day she'd find out. If a regular centipede bite hurts, a big one like this one would be hell!

The Network Plains were especially beautiful at this time...But Coolmon thought they looked pretty all the time! And she, of course, looked pretty damn cool with this sun. So, the Cutemon was in a really good mood! She was even humming an old song to herself. Which one?
And I Ran. I Ran So Far Away.
However...Coolmon paused suddenly. A sight to behold was there. A human...That was apparently like...her height or something. A tiny human. Curious! And a Digimon too, but not just any Digimon...
It was a big centipede. Really leggy. And bright. What a sight to behold.
So, how was Coolmon to initiate contact here? Well, it's simple, really. A single word. A word used to initiate communication. Yes.
"Heyooooo!"

Rinji's idle dreaming was interrupted when he detected a faint, yet peculiar scent of something that wasn't dust and dirt on his antennae. It smelled like... human?
"Ah!" he jumped when a short little digimon yelled out, breaking the peace into, well, pieces. Granted, she hadn't been right next to him when she yelled, but her loud voice had felt like it had. "Uh... hi? Is there something you need?" He inquired, genuinely curious as to why she had called him out specifically. Unless there was another digimon here? No. She must've been talking to him.
Maybe he'd left something back at the mines he'd been visiting? No, she wasn't from the mines either. He would've remembered a digimon that looked like that.
"Umm, what's your name? I - I don't think I've seen a digimon like you before," she was a small, and a rather sweet-looking digimon, and yet he'd never seen one like her kind before. There was still a lot about the world he didn't know.

The way that Charlie's eyes lit up when she not only saw a small plushie-like rabbit creature covered in pink fur approach the giant centipede, but saw the two conversing. In ACTUAL words! She could not believe it! This place was already winning over her good side.
"Woooah! Yuh all can tawhk?! That's so cool!" The girl would squeak, showcasing her ethusiasm. A land of talking centipedes and rabbits in scarves... It was hard to keep her excitement down!. Nonetheless, the girl quickly began to calm herself, she attempting to wipe the smile that had been on her face.
"I mean... what goes dere pardners?" She'd suddenly say in a terrible mimickry of a southern drawl to the weird rabbit and centipede, she kicking the heel of her sandals as if they were boots. She didn't have a cool hat to tip and make herself look cool, so she opted by pulling her hoodie over her face.

The rather-pretty-looking centipede seemed startled. That...really wasn't Coolmon's intention at all, but she could get behind the likely reason why. Nobody likes being surprised, after all. Was there something she needed? Likely not. Well, if anything what she wanted had already been granted. Breaking the silence is a good start. "...Well...I don't really need much. Just felt like saying hello, really. I'm Coolmon, nice to meetcha!"
...Despite the name, she seemed like a regular Cutemon. Wearing a brown scarf. And with different headphones. It's so odd. And then Coolmon forgot the human was there, and she nearly jumped with the squeak. She slowly turned to the human, noting how she was at eye level with the critter. So...She was staring right into her soul.
Figuratively. "We can totally talk, yup." She looked weird. "...What's a pardner?"

"Oh, okay - I'm a Scolomon, but you can call me Rinji if you want," so Coolmon had just wanted to say hello. Well, at least she was a friendly digimon, even if her behaviour seemed a little peculiar at first.
A gasp of surprise, and Rinji found himself jumping out of surprise once again. A human!? That must've been what had smelled funny earlier. The human was also somewhat smaller than any other humans he'd seen before; if he reared up, he was tall enough to look her in the eyes.
"I think she said 'partner', Coolmon" he said to the little digimon. The girl's accent was a little difficult to comprehend, so he couldn't blame Coolmon for not understanding straight away. He briefly wondered if that meant Coolmon was younger than him.
Then, a perplexed look overcame his face, "we're digimon, I'm sure all digimon can talk?" He honestly wasn't sure what was so special about him and Coolmon being able to talk.

Charlie was pleased to hear that at least one person here seemed to understand her. You'd be surprised how many times she has tried to mimic talking like a cowpoke and no one seemed to understand. The fact there were so many people who pretty much act like they've never seen the Lone Ranger on TV honestly physically disgusted her. "Mmhmm! Okay? I'm tryin' tuh tawhk like a cowboy! Been wawhkin' on de dialect fawh like a year." She'd say rather proudly before introducing herself. "My name's Charlie! I live in Shinjuku. Is it far from here, or what?"
The rabbit and centipede seemed to be pretty nice. The centipede was way cuter up close than at a distance, enough so that she'd have tried to give it a hug if she had not been so diligent with trying to keep up a cool facade. The rabbit meanwhile was dressed snazzily... no pants, but that didn't seem to be much of a problem.
Curiously though, they seemed to refer to themselves as Digimon. That was a bit odd... it sounded like that weird series with the kids who caught monsters in little balls in a way. She never got the appeal of that frankly... way too kiddie in her personal opinion. Nonetheless that seemed a bit odd. "Digimon? Nevuh heard of dem. Yuh just look a cool rabbit and centipede. Yuh with me?" She'd state. "Where I am from, rabbits and centipedes doan tawhk Does dat mean yuh guys are magic?"
It was then that she had a realization... magic rabbits and centipedes. Crap! How was she supposed to be an awesome sheriff if this place is crawling with magic talking varmints?! That was like, totally unfair! How does one compete with magic? She didn't even have a gun!
Lawbringing was gonna be mighty tough around here if that was the case...
(OOC: Sorry, was having real life issues. I'm pretty much back now though!)

"Rinji, huh? That's a nice name." A regal name for a regal centipede. Now, onto business that happened to be at hand. "Partner...Hmmmm. Must be a funky term for humans. Maybe. Oh well. Nice to meetcha, pardner."
And then the small thing went on about Shinjuku! Coolmon nodnodded at Charlie. "...Is that a human city? I've never been there, myself, so I can't quite tell. It's a whole world away, I can tell you that much."
That might not be a good idea. But...Wait...
Charlie called her cool.
"...You think I'm cool? WELL! You're also cool too, Charlie. And...yeah, I know some magic, at least!"
What kind of human was this? She looked at Rinji like she had no idea what was going on. Centipede friend help.

The said centipede friend was also perplexed by the situation. Concentration creased his face as he assessed the slightly odd girl and her words - he honestly couldn't understand what she was getting at anymore than Coolmon could. Magic? Rabbits and centipedes?
"O-oh! We aren't animals... we're monsters," he admitted unironically, and unaware of any negative connotation with the word. He fumbled for an explanation, still very much confused at having to talk about something that was so very ordinary to him, "there are lots of other monsters like us too, since we're in the Digital World. And every digimon can use their own special abilities, so I guess it's like magic?" He explained, although not feeling like he was doing a very good job at it.
Then he realised something. Something that was missing. "D-did you happen to see any digi-eggs or very small digimon, by any chance?" If there was one thing he knew, it was that humans had digimon partners! Although he'd only ever seen one example of a human and digimon partnership in his lifetime - Primary Village had insisted on teaching about this subject. And this human, despite being very small herself, didn't have any digimon with her at all.
And... if she didn't have any digimon with her, she could be in a lot of danger herself. That's why humans needed a digimon with them, because they were practically defenceless by themselves. Charlie was very lucky to have met himself and Coolmon first, instead of... something worse.
He briefly wondered how many times humans might have met their unfortunate end from this realisation, but quickly crossed that thought out. It wasn't a nice one.
And he definitely wouldn't be letting that happen to Charlie, if he could help it.

Charlie could not help but slightly tilt her head to the side, a look of confusion in her eyes. A world away? Digital World? What kind of wizardry was this? Frankly, Charlie was having a difficult time attempting to keep up with the two... Digimon. "Uh... Yuh lost me."
And why she not be? So apparently she was nowhere near Shinjuku and was in a world with magical monsters? Man... the only thing that did cross Charlie's mind was that she wished she had more supplies. This all sounded a lot rougher than just some ordinary wilderness. Everything was WAY weirder than she expected it seems.
Still, that kinda explained why nothing here looked familiar or why there didn't seem to be any sight of buildings nearby. Guess she was nowhere even remotely near Japan. Kind of a scary thought... but at the same time, an exciting one. It was like unexplored territory! An unknown savanna of untamed wilderness! Perhaps she had more important things to worry about... like getting home, but Charlie was always the type to try and spin things into a more positive direction when she could.
Cool centipede while was friendly, the short girl could not help but be a bit lost with his interrogation of her. "Nope. Yuh two are de first Digimons I've seen. Den again, yuh two are de ONLY Digimons I've ever seen, so I doan got a good reference here. Okay?" She'd reply, having not seen anything else but craters, dirt and plants. "I din't see any eggs too. Why ya ask? Are dere bird Digimons or somethin?"
