Fun Fair's Fair Fun [Kan/Closed]

It was incredible how fast time could fly by when one had fine company like Kan. Within the hours it had taken them to return from the beach to Terminus, they had all the time and comfort to get familiar with one another. While not getting too personal, they had been able to share the basics about their life, and often enjoyed laughter and the occassional biting statement. For example, Cion had told him about the one time she had partaken in a cooking contest that was broadcasted on television. Good times, even if it had been incredibly silly.
As far as she knew, no questions lingered, though if one of still had a couple then she hoped they could talk casually about them. The last thing she wanted was forced conversations, much less hesitation. But putting that aside, it was time to get to the reason why they were in Terminus in the first place. Okay, to be fair, Cion had an apartment here, living together with Owen, Logan... and whatever the case was now with Owen's new darling. Urgh... the thought still enraged her very core, but for the sake of a splendid evening, she surpressed these thoughts with all of her willpower.
It had been early evening when they arrived in the massive capital of Terminus, and the orange sky had given way for a soft, starry Autumn night when they arrived at the big fun fair. As its name implied, it was a place of fun and fraud that was open most days of the year. That was why, a fortune in Cion's eyes, it was never really overcrowded like many special events these days. No, it was a place of fantastic atmosphere, many colors and lots of fun to have and victories to reap.
There was only one restriction however. To assure fairness between digimons and be inclusive to humans, everyone who entered had to be a Rookie or lower. For the CyberSagitamon, that of course meant de-digivolving, though she clearly did not mind. At the fair's gate, a brief white light engulfed her body, and as the CyberSagitamon vanished an Arnamon took its place. Honestly, it barely made a difference, except that she had no power armor, that she was only the size of an Agumon and that her voice sounded like that of a 16 year old girl.
Still, as bright as the moon shone this early night, they were allowed to enter and quickly found themselves at the edge of the circular main plaza. Big roads lead to many directions, all of which were surrounded by booths that offered everything one could imagine. From delicious food, to ones that offered prizes, to some that were plain rackets like fortune-tellers. Every now and then, there was also something bigger, like a twister or a go-kart zone. And at the very end, there was the one and only rollercoaster that gave action-junkies their kicks. Without a doubt, the fun fair was amazing to have fun at, especially when in company of friends or family.
It was not too loud in general, but she decided to stand in a spot that was rather away from every other digimon and the occassional human that had a good time. The tiny, vulpine silver looked up to Kan and grin a little. "You already found something you really really wanna do? If not, there's always a teddy that needs winning, eh?" She spoke, hoping that Kan liked it thus far. It clashed a little with his serious, firm personality, but that had been the point in the first place. Ultimately, as long as they had a good time, she would be content.

The train ride had been rather pleasurable; the couple hours it had taken to travel from the beach to the massive city that was Terminus flew by like a breeze. While her life certainly seemed to be full of more pleasurable things in comparison to his. His business back in the human world practically controlled his life; at least nine to five it did. Sometimes later if he felt like it. With the amount of things he worked on, his interest of course in what he assumed to be her cybernetics was eventually brought up at one point.
He avoided bringing up the darker things, like his black market dealings and things he was less proud of. There was a large list of things he'd have to address when he went home that was for sure. Exiting the trailmon eventually he found his eyes drifting upwards to the sky. The stars grabbing his attention for a good few moments. He hadn't really gone to any of the fairs that were here in the digital world. Feeling like they would of been too similar to the ones in the human worlds.
He frowned ever so slightly at the ruling that was posed at the entry of the fair but he didn't see a problem with it. A human like himself should be fine; he didn't really feel like his spirits were a good pick for this atmosphere anyways. He could feel Silvermon's excitement of the area however, it was more palatable than his bloodlust had ever been. Like a dog wanting to meet new people; or a cat waiting for it's owner to open up a can of it's favorite food.
He'd raise his eyebrows just a bit at the form that CyberSagitamon turned into. She was smaller and there wasn't any armor from what he could see. She certainly reminded him of a few people that he had done business with now that she sounded a bit younger. Taking in the sights as they ented he found himself eyeing the food stalls something fierce. He'd put a hand to his stomach and chuckled just a little bit. The hunger that silvermon always seemed to feel making a nice little impact on him. Standing next to Cion he'd hum softly.
"I think some food would go a long way, that and while we're eating we can look for a game that has a good looking bear."
He'd let out a soft chuckle; gently patting the pocket that held his digivice. It was a pity that silvermon couldn't come out and enjoy this without raising a fuss. Else the man would of been in that form. He could tell that the restriction made the fair that much more tantalizing for the spirit.
"Hmm.... Maybe a hammer game? I'd be fine with just taking in everything for a bit too. At the very least the good company will continue."

"As I said, Kan. The best would be a something like a high striker. One where I can assist with my levitation powers that is. Or ya think you can handle it yourself, darling?" Cion teased him kindly, also reminding him that this had been an idea of hers many hours ago. She was of course not mad at him for forgetting, especially when considering the delightful and enjoyable banter they had while riding the Trailmon. Now, they only had to find such a booth that allowed cooperation, which certainly was not going to be an easy find. However, so early in this late evening, that was not their priority.
Kan raised a fair point which made Cion realize her own hunger as well. Gosh, she had once again been so much into something that she ahd forgotten everything else, especially her own needs. But to be honest, this was actually a perfect opportunity for dinner. Sure, it would not be the healthiest of meals, but it was going to be tasty and filling. Nodding to the male human, she made her first hops in the direction of a couple of food booths. "Agreed, Hmm... baked fish baguette? Or perhaps something oriental? Darned embarras de richesses..."
After mostly whispering to herself, she shook her head and turned to her new acquaintance with a weak simper. "You got any preferences? I'm open to anything savory." The Arnamon offered Kan to take the lead for a while. Not that she considered herself above him, but in her point of view a clear dynamic had established itself between them. Kan tried to find true understanding in her words and enjoyment in his life, while she tried to make him see how. However, loosening a leash and letting him experiment and express his own will was one important step of that as well. If anything, Kan needed to find confidence in the positivity he would soon certainly experience.
Wherever their choices would lead them to, the Arnamon was certain that they would arrive somewhere splendid.

"You did say that earlier didn't you? I'm confident but you never know with these hammers they have!"
He'd let out a loose laugh, looking down at his hands. he wasn't overly muscular but he certainly knew how to work with a hammer for a game like this. Know your body and know your tools; if he could gauge the weight. Giving her a small smile he'd glance around; noting a couple stalls and what not. He'd shift so that he was leaning a bit heavier on one leg than the other before idly rubbing his chin with his right hand.
"Shishkabab maybe? Or Steak on a stick?"
He'd inquire starting to walk towards the road that seemed to have more food stalls than the others. Something like a food avenue or the like; he wasn't sure. There was many a joke he could make. He'd go from stall to stall; looking over their menus, prices and general set up. While there wasn't a smile on his face like earlier; there was that positive vibe he was giving off. He'd pause after finding one particular stall before frowning.
"Silvermon would love these."
That spirit had been the most cooperative if anything; sure the bloodlust and what not was something he wanted to deal with here. But he wasn't getting that vibe; he was just getting the furious hunger from that spirit right now. He was hungry too sure; but he could feel it just by concentrating on his spirit partner just a tad.
"Hmm.. This looks good though what do you think?"
He'd gesture to the stall in front of them; a eyebrow raised ever so slightly. The digimon that was tending to the stall too busy with making food to really talk to the two. There wasn't as much in front of the store to show their stock; must of meant they had been busier than most earlier in the day. Fishing out his wallet, he'd piece together how much everything costed and let out a low whistle.
"Not really that expensive either..."

Kan had a fair point, making her nod without saying a word. It was probably the best to adapt to what they would find instead of looking for something for a long time that suited them just fine. Something that might not even exist. And if the man had confidence that he was strong enough to take on a high striker by himself, it was far from her to fuel him with doubt. But before they would win a little surprise for Logan, it was time for something that at least resembled a proper dinner.
"Something meaty sounds fine, though I hope they also got some vegetables and side dish with them." She quietly voiced her thoughts, looking forward to some steaming bell pepper and fried potatoes. And as Kan started moving, she immediately followed suit. The road they were traveling was surrounded by uncountable food stalls offering practically everything one could imagine. It was hard to find the best one, especially because many of them had a tendency to be overprized.
Listening to Kan's words, she shook her head and booped his side. "But this's our evening. So turn that frowny upside downy, yes?" She tried to cheer his big companion on. They still had later to satisfy the spirits, but this evening they would not interfere. They had claimed too much of his life already anyway, now it was time for the human to enjoy control. And enjoying they would it, starting with something to satisfy their hunger.
"Yeah, sounds good. Besides, as profitiers of varying ranks, money is our least concern, eh?" Cion approved of Kan's suggesting, seeing that the stall this MeatBurgermon owned also had plenty of side dishes to own. Rummaging through her belt's pockets, she eventually discovered her bank card and drew it. Alas, money worked a bit differently in the digital world, since it too was just data technically speaking. Showing it to the MeatBurgermon and putting it on the counter, they finally got its attention. Putting his own card on hers, she greeted both of them with a winning smile while still attending his meal.
"How may I serve you?" He asked, looking forward to satisfying his customers. Cion briefly looked around and spotted a couple of empty tables nearby at a small corner. Pointing it out to Kan through gesture, she returned her attention to the MeatBugermon. "I'd like a full kebab plate with fried potatoes, cocktail sauce and a cola null, please." She ordered, the owner of the stall immediately pursuing her task. "Of course, pretty lady. That would be 10 bits." He kindly demanded in return for his service. Nodding, she put her hand on both cards. Without a word, a blue glow engulfed them and her hand for just 1 second, and then the deed was done.
Turning to Kan, Cion shrugged and grinned a little oafishly. "Since we have so much time, I figured there's no haste. Let's enjoy our meals leisurely while sitting, yes?" She requested, changing their little plan up somewhat. Sure, it was not as they had intended, but ultimately it was not much of a big change, was it? They still had plenty of hours and fun to enjoy in this beautiful Autumn night, so why rush and not savor it?
Smiling and preparing the food for Cion, the MeatBugermon then turned to Kan as well, hoping he was going to be as hungry as the little maiden. "And what may I serve you, sir?"

"well it's the fair, they'll have something I'd imagine. They have to cater to all sorts; I bet they even have some oil stands around here somewhere."
He'd let out a loose chuckle; some mechanical digimon didn't need to eat from what he could recollect. They just needed to maintain themselves and their "parts" or something along those lines. He'd pause after a few moments; giving her a small smile as she mentioned turning that frown upside down. Their evening huh? How quickly things can change when you meet someone new. It was odd to say the least.
"That it is. I shouldn't dwell on it too much."
A soft shake of the head and the human raised his eyebrows just a little bit. Money wasn't a concern here int he digital realm for him that was for sure, the human one? Vastly different; maybe that's why he had such a rough time there. Kind of hard to pay bills in the human world with bits though; so working between the two worlds was something he had to do.
"I can certainly agree with that when speaking of the Digital world. Bits seem so much easier to come by it feels."
He'd give her a small smile and inspected the menu for a little longer. While she ordered he mused to himself as to what to get, somewhere he could feel the interest in all the meats blossom rather heavily and he could certainly tell he knew what Silvermon was going to want when it was out again. Pushing it aside he'd follow where she was pointing and giving her a nod so that she knew that he understood.
After she was done ordering he'd pause for a moment; thinking his idea for his order over once more. He looked slightly surprised that she desired to sit; but with how much she ordered and the time that they had she didn't seem too rushed. Returning the grin with a small smile and shake of the head.
"That sounds good to me."
He'd step forward, fishing out the bit card and placing it on the counter much like cion had. He'd eye the menu one last time before making his order.
"Ah lets see, I'll have Six steaks on a stick, A full kebab plate like my friend, but fries instead, BBQ sauce and a Cola null."
The Meatburgermon didn't seem too surprised with how much kan ordered, sure the price was a little higher but the Human certainly didn't seem to mind. Though in comparison to cion's glow from earlier; kan's was certainly much meeker. The meatburgermon went about cooking for the both of them. Kan of course turned to his companion; rubbing the back of his neck.
"I never quite asked but what do you do with most of your time anyways? You mentioned bounties earlier; but I figured that was more of a time to time thing."

Cion nodded and chuckled to both of Kan's statements, one of them being that mechanical digimons might only need oil, and the other that this evening was only for the two of them. The Arnamon was glad that she was not bothering the often serious man with her slaphappy attitude, and instead even seemed to delight him. It seemed like it was balm to the soul for the two of them, so she would make sure to keep it up for as long as she could.
Listening to Kan's response, it made her once again wonder what kind of realm the human world even was. It seemed to have a lot of worries that the digital world did not have. Constant clashes between one another, worries about money and success. That their civilization could function like this at all was a wonder, though then again she had not witnessed it herself thus far. Still, the digital world seemed to be better of. There was always an occupation needed, and never a worry that one's basic needs were not satisfyed; at least when joining civilization.
"No sweet without sweat, still." She stated, knowing that people of towns naturally had to work for their daily bread. Sustain civilization and be sustained by it; a wonderful symbiosis in her opinion, and much more preferable over some sort of constant struggle for suvival. Unfortunately, not everyone realized that, but those meddling beings were often taken care of swiftly if they ever stepped out of line.
Cion felt relief when Kan did not just not mind her idea of sitting down to eat, but actually approved of it. Somehow, she had just the best of fortune to always hit the right notes with the man. Of course she could not read his thoughts and will, but perhaps it was her sense of compassion and her general serenity that enabled her to get away if minor mistakes without bothering others. Whatever the case, she was just glad that their enjoyment of the fun fair was not disordered.
The Arnamon whistled after hearing Kan's order, impressed by how much he ordered and could likely raven. "So we both didn't just have a little appetite for a snack, eh?" She asked rhetorically, looking forward to a nice dinner in fine togetherness. And while the MeatBurgermon was still busy preparing their big meals, they calmly continued their delightful banter. And a fascinating question came indeed from Kan that required her some time to think about.
"The 'bounty's' are from Terminus' bulletin board. They rarely involve combat, and are mostly services that the goverment currently can't handle by themselves. You remember the surprise blizzard last winter? I and... Owen... fought through it to a farming village called Eirene a dozen or so miles away, far beyond the plains around Terminus. We delivered them firewood, blankets and alike stored in an Infini-Store. And for that, we got payed very well; enough to rent an apartment here. Ever since, we simply took whatever missions suited us best and reapt the rewards. Semi-constant work I suppose. Else, I like playing my ocarina, singing, video games and cooking."
With a smile, she cleared her throat, feeling a bit dry from the long speech she had given him. Hopefully, that was giving him a good enough impression of her past lives and deeds, and how she managed to keep well over water. "Though I guess that'll all change once I sign the contract with P.R.O.F.I.T. Considering how well Colin, Bellamy and Luke get payed, I suppose I only need to work a couple of days a month, hehe." She both stated and joked, not yet too certain how well members were actually payed. But considering what luxury the trio de antics could afford, it simply had to be lots. Not that she needed that much to be content, but it never hurt having savings on the line in times of need, especially with a cute little nephew at hand.
"Ya got any favorite hobbies?" She asked casually, not wanting the conversation to be a one-sided Q&A.

Kan ran a hand through his hair, humming thoughtfully. In the future it wouldn't be that hard for him to make the full transition from human to digital, it was easier here it felt. At least to him; maybe it was just because any time he had come here work had been easier than that in the human world and his digital customers were more patient than his human ones. Even in the city he never seemed to have an issue.
"You can say that again. Hard work pays off."
He'd agree with that something fierce, he had been a hard worker for most of his life as it was and he expected himself to be that until he was six feet under with a stone coffin. The digimon seemed to be releived when he agreed with the sitting down; sure it cut into the time of walking around just a bit but if they weren't pressed for time they certainly could enjoy it. Giving her a wolfish grin; something that certainly carried over from his digital spirit to her rhetorical question. He eyed the Meatburgermon for a moment before Cion answered his question.
"Ahh so more like queries for work and the like. I remember it, I was up in the mountains when I saw it come through. If it wasn't for the phasing ability my spirit's had I'd likely of had a rough time with the snow. It sounds like you get around quite well."
He'd return her smile; though his was somewhat smaller. He seemed to be musing over something but his thoughtful look was replaced with one of amusement a few moments later. He liked the idea of living comfortably and only needing to work a bit; though truly that was always out of reach for the man. He'd run his hand through his hair again; letting out a exasperated breath.
"Well, I'm a hacker and engineer by trade. So I often find myself fixing things even in my free time. I enjoy making things, breaking the things down and making them even better. I also enjoy traveling, there's a reason I've been to most of the digital world by now."
He'd shrug a bit; admitting to himself that his hacking skills were likely a little rusty with how more often that people needed him to fix or make things for them. He'd rub his chin thoughtfully and then shoot the digimon a grin.
"That and the hobby of finding trouble I guess, seems to follow me around like mad!"
Another firm chuckle and the human found himself stretching just a bit. What else was there that he really enjoyed doing? He'd shake his head softly; the grin staying plastered on his face.
"Can't forget that I used to read a lot as a kid too, when I couldn't fix stuff there was always a book I could delve into.

Cion watched Kane once again, as he often tended to do, running his hand through his hair. She herself was not quite sure what this gesture was even supposed to mean, since it came at the most random of times. It did not seem to be based on an emotional state, nor when performing specific actions. Perhaps it was a way for his mind to focus? If it indeed was, then it was truly bizarre to her since it did not seem to serve a purpose. Or... huh, perhaps it was just some sort of instinct? Gosh, she was overthinking stuff again.
Nodding approvingly in response to Kan's attitude of assiduity, she listened to what he had to say next and calmly responded in accordance to that, his wolfish grin not putting her off in the slightest. "Yeah, I suppose that's a fine description. And in the name of you not having a hard time, I humbly express gratitude towards thine phasing abilities." She responded, purposefully choosing a rather aristocratic manner of speech as to lighten the mood a little. Briefly chuckling, she shook her head and shrugged. "But yeah, I got a bit around, at least to the East and a bit of the South."
After a brief exchange of happy smiles, Cion noticed that Kan thought about something. Wondering what it was, her curiosity got satisfyed when he eventually spoke up, explaining what he had been up to for a main part of his life. "A person that likes to utilize his hands and smarts. Splendid." She complimented him, believing that he got the talents he took pride in. The last thing she wanted to feel nor display was doubt, especially of something that was of no big matter in the future. Besides, if she ever got to play her ocarina for him, then he could show her how to hack a computer or something like that.
"Well, in the digital world, there's always trouble that's made double." Cion kidded, certain that they would encounter a lot of problems as members of P.R.O.F.I.T. But somehow, she was sure that they would manage, just like they had always done before. Saving innocent digimons, punishing bad guys, exploring mysterious dungeons; oh she was definetly looking forward to that, and of course the excellent payment. As mentioned before, she was not greedy, but she like the thought of having saved up for more desperate times.
Oh, so Kan even was a man of vast reading? Gosh, how could he possibly a tormented soul like that? "More of a gamer myself, hehe. But, in earnest... I believe you truly are a gentleman. I mean you are well-spoken, well-read, kind and polite, but still stalwart and steadfast. I know what you said at the beach, but... you are just so much more likeable than you think you are. And when we establish a more... harmonious symbiosis between you and the spirits, I am sure you will finally understand where I am coming from. And hey, if you try to make more friends... why they like you as well."
Gosh, this had been a little bit over the top, had it not been? But she had spoken those words with utmost sincerity, and she hoped that Kan would realize that. An awkward giggle followed her words before she scratched her head and look to the counter. "Just saiyan..." She added, her gaze often shifting away from Kan. She once used to say such words to Owen, and their intention had been to fuel something far more than just a friendship. Still, despite everything, she felt like speaking them had been the right thing to do.
"Mealtime!" The MeatBurgermon shouted with a happy tone to his voice. Handing Kan and Cion both of their big paper plates and hard plastic cuttlery, he bowed to them and wished them farewell. Not feeling like eating the contents of a whole plate while standing, Cion motioned Kan to walk to the wooden benches and tables. Sitting down at one of them which was empty of other gourmets, she beheld its contents, glad that they distracted from their previous conversation point.
On hers were fine slices of lamb meat, roasted potatoes, a fine mixed salad with a lot of tomatoes and white cabbage, and the orange cocktail sauce; all salty and hearty. It was so hot that steam was visible in the air of this fresh Autumn Night, and the smell was simply exquisite. Naturally, they had not forgotten their cola nulls, though she preferred to drink after a feast. "Enjoy your meal." She cordially wished Kan before starting to eat her meal like a proper, fine lady. With both fork and knife, she took her time and relished every bite, making almost no audible noise while eating. Then again, considering their ambience, hearing something like that was probably unlikely anyway.

"I'll be sure to let them know then."
The man chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck; tilting his head ever so slightly when she spoke once again. So she had been based in two larger "areas"? It made sense seeing how she was just one digimon, if her home was anywhere around there it'd be a likely choice to work around it and then try to work around somewhere else.
"Things always happen no matter where I end up going why; North, south, East, west. You'd think with how well traveled I am that I should be a guard or something."
Another chuckle; it wouldn't fit him really. Being the sort to stay in one location guarding one thing but the jest was there none the less. He'd nod firmly to her statement; he had always been working with his hands; constantly and never seeming to stop. In fact he couldn't think of a day that he hadn't worked on something personal or no.
"Hah thank you."
Trouble made double? That brought a considerable pause to the man. He could recall many incidents that he had taken part in, many problems that had been resolved regardless of the side he had been on. He'd shift slightly and tilt a head listening to her quietly. A gentleman? Well spoken? Well read? Kind and polite? Then things that he had never been called. He hesitated just a little bit; a mix of surprise and worry on his face for maybe a moment before fleeing. The food grabbing his attention. He certainly was quick to pick up his meal; thanking the meatburgermon with a smile.
Trotting to the table he'd take a seat across from the digimon. His face looked a mix of unsure and concerned. Shaking his head he'd run a hand through his hair; that thoughtful look spreading on his face once more.
"I. Oh. Yes. The meal. You too."
He'd make a little exasperated sound, taking one of the steaks in hand and biting into it. They were on a stick so there wasn't much of a point for him to use a fork or knife. He of course wasn't as quiet as Cion was; but with a closed mouth and thoughtful pause between each bite to savour the flavour. After two of the steaks on a stick; kan tapped some of his fingers on the table. The man looked incredibly thoughtful.
"I can't. Disagree with you. But likable or not, kind, polite, well spoken, well read. Or not. I've still done things that most people would consider to be abhorrent. Distance was privvy for a reason; I can't help but worry that people might..."
A soft sigh and he'd push the negativity that he could feel oozing from his voice to the side; speaking with a closer to worried one.
"Might not be as forgiving as you certainly are. I don't deny what you say. I don't know about the symbiosis with the spirits but I can tell you something. They always felt off in comparison to other spirit users' totems. Like something was wrong? Eventually I got used to it mind you but you know how it is. "
He'd look down at his hands and shake his head slightly; though this didn't stop him from continuing to eat. There was plenty of food and lord was he hungry. The human paused after another steak was devoured.
"I've never. Been called any of those things.... Thank you Cion."
There was a considerable pause between what he was saying; especially in the last three words. Like he wasn't used to saying that so earnestly. The spirits restlessness so to speak earlier was gone, there wasn't even that pressing hunger from Silvermon. Just silence once again.
"But ah. I suppose that's bad mealtalk isn't it? Uhm... Shoot."

The jokes and light-hearted banter were increasing with every passing minute, which naturally delighted the Arnamon and filled her with even more confidence in her own actions than before. Cion was confident that she and Kan would share a great bond, and of course great comradeship once they worked together. "Well I am sure P.R.O.F.I.T has some guard-mission, no?" She suggested that he might follow his idea of becoming a guard after though, even though in a more implicit way.
After a brief exchange of appreciation, and a longer speech of affability on the Arnamon's part, she wondered how she would react this time. Would he repudiate her and himself once again, would he remain passive if a bit doubtful, or would he welcome her opinion of him and accept it as what it was? Ultimately, the result disappointed her, because it had been silence. But if her words had been strong enough to make Kan consider, then that was fine for her as well.
"Thank you." She responded as they sat down at the wooden bench with their big meals. Ignoring Kan's unusual uncertainty for the moment, giving him all the room and time he needed, she blocked any thoughts out of her mind and savored the first bits of her meal. The meaty crispness of her lamb, the salty and crusty fried potatoes, the spicy and creamy cocktail sauce, and of course her fresh, cool and crips salad. Honestly, considering it was 'fast food', it had been made by a true virtuoso of the kitchen. Then again, the cook was an alternate form of a Burgermon, so did she really expect anything else.
After finishing her first couple of mits, she smiled warmly at Kan with closed eyes, clearly showing that she was enjoying herself. But after just two little steaks, he stopped and gained all of her attention, breaking her out of her serenity. It was with worry that she listened to his firm, apologetic words. As much as he seemed to hide it, there was guilt in them, and perhaps even compassion for Cion since she did so much to make him happy. Regardless, she knew that she could not give him up now, as this would only lead to more suffering for everyone.
Just before she could respond... he thanked her, and apologized for his tame emotional outbreak. The response she would give her was probably something he had not expected at all. It was a smile. But not a confident or a warm one, it almost had something of a mother that beheld her child. It was a bit dreamy, but of utmost sincerity regardless. "No harm done, Kan. Just know that I believe there is always a way to change. From first hand... I can say that the past does not have to define you, if you don't let it. You'll see... we'll find a way to understand and fix things, and you won't be alone, what- or whoever it is we face."
Her motherly smile briefly turned into a somewhat impish grin before she chuckled a little and happily continued with her meal. "But if you want a different mealtalk, sure! Anything you got on ya mind? We already chatted a lot on the Trailmon, so... perhaps longer stories? All I can really think of is my past lives or this one to be honest, but those are quite long stories, hehe." She offered, though still curious if the man himself had something interesting to talk about.
She was not worried about what had happened, nor concerned. Even to Kan, it should be clear that she was seeing the good within him, in both his words and desire to... to change. She was glad to be there for him, especially as a friend. Both in fun and responsibility, Cion enjoyed doing everything she could so both of them had as great as a time as possible. They both needed it.

"Maybe. Maybe not. Worse come to worse, it's not like there aren't other organizations or locations that could pay on their own. I'm not above working for or with other groups. Just have to pay well and be.... On par I suppose? I don't mind little things, but sometimes you have to work at your limits."
He'd frown a little bit, he didn't want to take a guard post that had him watching out for rookies all day. Having a mega tier digivolution meant a heaping of responsibility and understanding of the power that came along with it. Rubbing his neck he'd give her a soft smile before going back to his food. He had already downed three steaks, and was looking to down the other three. he certainly enjoyed the taste of them. He could really enjoy the flavour as it welled up in his mouth.
He'd sigh softly, some of those hard memories cropping up again. The last time he had really sat down and enjoyed someone's company was far too long ago. At least anything like this. He'd push them aside however when the digimon spoke again. He'd quietly listen while partaking in the food that was in front of him. He'd run his hand through his hair; a soft but somewhat wistful sigh escaping him.
"I'll. Keep that in mind. At least I won't have to do it by myself hah."
He'd chuckle, giving her a somewhat thankful look; though that was mixed with two of the steaks vanishing in what seemed to be an instant. He'd eye her when that impish grin surfaced; wondering where that had come from. But it was certainly contagious. He could feel one spreading on his face too.
"Hmm. Just those topics seemed a bit heavy for such wonderful company and food."
He'd comment and bite into the last steak, his expression slightly deadpan for a few moments before the man chuckled again. He'd finish off the last steak before returning the stick it had been on to the plate.
"That's true, I honestly feel like my life in comparison hasn't been as exciting as you would expect. What from all the dealings with business and fixing things I do you'd wonder how i have the time to do the digital world at all!"
He'd shake his head and pause thoughtfully. His fingers tapped on the table; he'd look around after a few moments. A brow raised ever so slightly; like he couldn't believe he was sitting here having such a nice conversation and nothing had jumped in yet. Shrugging to himself he'd consider something.
"Hmm. Well I suppose I had already asked about your job, learned a little bit about you, what you do for fun... I uh. Wouldn't mind hearing about them. We've got the time; I'm not going anywhere. I'll tell you how I got into the engineering and whatnot too."
After all there was such a thing as exchanging stories; but he was honestly curious to learn more about his companion here. He had several stories that he wished to share; one of which however would be upon a much later date if she proved herself to be even more trustworthy. When he felt comfortable enough and there wasn't anyone about as well.

"As to be a expected, a man of facing challenges." She remarked cheerfully when Kan expressed his wish to do more daring missions than guard duty. It was nothing she had not expected considering what she knew about him, and it was perfectly fine. Still, guard duty could be splendid, especially when watching a lot of kids having fun together. Maybe this opinion was mostly due to her supportive, kind nature, but one would find difficulty taking that away from her. "I'm sure we get just the right missions... and pay." She expressed her confidence, followed by a short moment of bright laughter.
After their minute of emotional turmoil, everything had settled down again, and the Arnamon gave Kan a reassuring nod, letting him know that she would be by his side. The thankful look was of course also appreciated, and as many things did stabilized her confidence within. Yet it was his grin and the words thereafter that truly charmed Cion, making her blush a little and flinch ever so slightly out of delight. "Naaaw... you charmer. Hehe, same to you." She showed his appreciation for being appreciated and casually made clear that she felt the same for him.
Happily savoring more of her hot meat, fried potatoes and crips vegetables, she continued to listen to whatever Kan wished to share with her. He honestly found his own life boring, though that could only be the human world part, not the digital part. "I suppose that's one reason why you went deepsea fighting." She figured, not blaming Kan for it. Honestly, she did not know anything about the MegaSeadramon, so perhaps it had been vile after all. In any case, being reborn into civilization could only be a good thing, even if it meant a lot of sacrifice.
But ultimately, it had chosen this life and knew its risks, though that did not mean Cion would not try to move the digital world into even more of a civilized place of peace. But tonight, that was none of her concern. Because now, it was great stories time, and she looked forward to hearing everything Kan wished to share with her. Yet, since she had suggested it, it would only be polite to also start with one of her stories. Clearing her throat and only occasionally taking a bite from her meal, she started.
"So, my first life was on a server that contained File Island. I was an Impmon named Voughn, the name of my male self one could say. Funnily enough, due to being born out of broken data from digimons that had long since past, I did not even think I was born there, haunted by dark memories that were not even my own. In any case, it's there I met my first friends I will likely never meet again, and of course... Owen. It was my first concious day on the island, and I stumbled onto a meat farm, where my first thought was that he might be a thief. Thankfully, I had not been too stubborn then. So we decided to join forces and..."
And then she started her great and long tale. She would tell him about her first evening and night with Owen the Gaomon, how they pushed through File Island's massive city ruins like parkour-freaks. How they lived together with everyone else in its inn, and how they trained hard to digivolve. She would tell him about how they and the others resisted CaptainHookmon's army who tried to get rid off all humans, how a firewall did not enable them to digivolve beyond Champion. She would tell him about the first, if temporary time she and Owen used DNA-Digivolution to become one, and how they built a new village with the survivors after a massive nuke layed the rest of the ruins to ash. Not to mention their clashes with CaptainHookmon's powerful leutenants.
And after they won, though at the cost of File Island's existence, she and Owen went on to another, very modern server, worked there as 'pride troopers' in a heroic mercenary organization and swiftly gained lots of wealth and renown as well as the highest level achieveable for digimons. Living happily throughout centuries, she would explain that at the end of their lifes, they assured that they would find each other again, though she did not say how. It was, in light of recent events, too personal and painful.
"And that was the story of my first life of three lives; or at least the main bits I can remember. Most of the details were of course lost, as it is typical for reincarnations. Even with the dark beginning... it was a great life" She finished her long tale, most of the food of her plate already integrated into her system. Her expression throughout had been very dreamy, and at one time when mentioning Owen, she had shed a tear without even noticing it. Still, she seemed happy overall, if having a bit of a sore throat.

"I just feel that the forms wouldn't be suited to something lower key. Not to mention the looks alone might be enough to scare off people."
He'd snort and shake his head, shooting her a grin. The idea of someone coming to do harm to a location only to see a towering creature of black and white standing at the gates would be absolutely refreshing. He knew a few locations that had strong guards and the like as it was, one of which he was on the bad ends of the guards.
"I hope so, if anything It could be fairly problematic otherwise."
Another smooth chuckle; he could just see himself standing grumpily at the front of a gate somewhere. Some champion digimon that got their power to their head far too soon; and then the following scene afterwards being nothing short but hysterical on their part.
"I'd call myself more honest than a charmer hah..."
He'd tease lightheartedly, a hand rubbing his neck and his eyes averting just a little bit. He could tell that the words had a good effect on her; though he wasn't expecting in the least bit. A soft sigh and shake of the head before leaning forward curiously. His eyes watching her as she spoke; he took in her story piece by piece. Thinking over every single bit that was given to him. Storing the information for later; anything and everything is useful to know. It was a force of habit to take in everything that he could.
He looked slightly surprised at the one point that she shed a tear, concern slowly slipped across his face and he'd sigh softly offering a napkin. He could tell something was hurt there, he knew that feeling something fierce. If she didn't want to share he would not push for it; he would not ask for it. But he simply would be there if she wanted to say a single thing about it. The happy dreamy look was something that he wished he could have when recollecting anything in his lifetime.
"That is quite a tale. Certainly interesting in each aspect; I don't know how I'd be able to act with memories of prior happenings."
He'd inhale after a few moments, collecting his thoughts. Collecting the story that he would tell to her; he'd start somewhere near the beginning of what he could remember. The first truck he helped take apart, the first vehicle he helped fix. The constant drivel at the orphanage was in the midst; but he eventually found himself stopping when he got to the accident. Gripping the table rather hard, he'd exhale and skip over it. Feeling like it was a darker place he didn't need to go back to. He'd continue to go forward in the story, telling about how he managed to buy his shop the first time around and the very first customer he served.
"Past that, most of it is just a retelling of old things moving together.. It was constant up until the digital world. And uhm. From there it got pretty crazy. Fixing things you'd think out of science fiction; things that don't make any sense."
He'd tut softly; watching her for a few moments. He'd look down at the food, thinking things through again and again. Was it right to share more? Was it right to spoil things? No. Not at this time. He couldn't share that story, it was for the future. There was too many people around. so instead he'd share another.
"The first time I used my digital spirit was in the human world. It was a real mess let me tell you; no one could see me or perceive me but I could still interact with things. Like a mad man I went around trying to solve problems; my own and others. I didn't know how to turn the spirit off, so I stayed in it for a long time. I had been used to digital partners so I didn't have that little blessing. Two months later I finally figured it out, it's this little muscle in the chest that flexes; kind of like when you're trying to push a cough out but more comfortable? Well after I managed to get back into my human state my business picked up like mad. I didn't even go to the digital world for a good year. In fact at that point I still hadn't been, most of it had been human endeavors. Once I went though...."
He'd grin slightly and chuckle; his head laying back just a bit.
"There were so many humans and digimon. I was taken back something fierce... Me. Surprised can you imagine that? I tried to figure out what to do; but wandering lead into what you ran into at the beach."

Kan and always his playful negativity, but since Cion knew that he had merely been japing, she did not take it seriously. Certainly, both of them would find missions that suited them, spirits or not. And once again, the young man managed to enrapture her, the statament of honesty instead of being charmer filling her with joy. Acting coyly, she giggled quietly and at times looked a way, a big wide grin gracing her muzzle. She loved being appreciated, and she had no problem showing that. Regardless, she remained silent, not wishing to disturb this cute little moment with more words.
As she had been telling the tale of her first life, she had been surprised to see him hand her over a napking. It was only later that she realized a thing, wet line on her cheeck, and quickly she dried it with the tool provided by Kan. "Thanks. Dunno what got over me there." The Arnamon commented rather casually, not being bothered by that little incident. On the contrary, the gesture by her friend once again proved her point that he could be a fine gentleman.
After she was done, the atmosphere around them completely calmed down again, as if her own story had not affected her at all. On the contrary, she was happier than most times, and glad that she had not bored Kan in the minutes she took to summarize her first life. Not to mention that the man put forth an interesting point she considered. "Thanks. And it's... bizarre, I must admit; sometimes, you wish you had forgotten... but they are also who you are. And I don't wanna be anyone else than myself." Was all she could tell as a response, feeling that anything more would be a philosophical debate that would take them year.
And then it was Cion's time to listen to one of his stories, and she did so with big eyes and her head resting on her right hand like a teenage girl swooning over someone else. It began in a dark way, but soon found light in a life of pleasant routine. Truth was, if she ever found herself incapable of fighting, owning a shop where she would sell her dishes sounded perfectly. Perhaps Kan could show her the ropes then, or even join her to settle down in the digital world. But those were idea for a much later time.
To her surprise, before she could even reply, Kan continued with another one about the first time he fused with one of those spirit. It had seemingly turned him invisible, which must have been utterly perplexing for everyone he tried to interact with. "Two whole months? Gosh..." Cion uttered, unsure if she should be concerned or burst out in laughter. To her, his tale was much more hilarious than he probably realized, but it was without a doubt a good one he had chosen. And with him losing himself in the digital world, the tale ended.
Cion found her plate empty, hence she took a couple of gulps from her cola. "It seems we both have rich history. At least enough for a dinner." She joked once again, delighted to know so much more about her new friend. Overall, his life did not seem that bad as he had claimed, or perhaps he had singled out the good bits. Still, it was a fine preliminary work that would help them in their little endeavor.
With a happy sigh, she found her belly full as a naggin desire to stretch herself plagued her. Doing so copiously, she yawned into her hand and shook herself. She was not tired, just a bit full. "Was a nice dinner." Cion claimed, giving Kan a warm, gentle smile as she did so often.
