Some simple rules: *There's no post order. *I'll post every now and then (~3 days, maybe more, maybe less if peeps reply fast enough. People that don't keep up will be skipped, so have that in mind). *The first 4-5 peeps that join have dibs. *Don't worry about your level; combat will not be intensive. Still, better be prepared to some form of it. *Hope you're ready to face some pretty mediocre puzzles and short posts, however. As of late, seismic activity had been shaking Infinity Mountain a little too much for the nearby digimon's tastes. The quakes were brief, but fierce enough to tear apart simple structures, and even to create their fair share of cracks on the mountain's side.
The quake that had transpired approximately half an hour ago, however, was an exception. Its force had actually managed to open a small passageway, or, actually... to uncover it. The small tunnel seemed to have been carved before, time itself managing to to hide it from the prying eyes of the outside world.
A small crowd of digimons was already gathering over the newly found tunnel, all in front of a Baromon, who currently was standing on top of a small mound of snow. "This is the door to an ancient, forbidden realm! By entering, the only thing we'll accomplish is to doom this mountain and ourselves!"

K hadn't been to Infinity mountain before, and figuring that she had come from the north well.. It was simple really, go visit the location while she was still on vacation before heading back to her Inn.
She wasn't expecting however the small quakes that had come with getting to the area in question. The largest of which making her stumble and look around in surprise. Going against her gut feeling she'd go closer to the mountain proper; it'd take her a good bit since she was still a ways out but by the time she arrived there was a small crowd of digimon gathering around something.
K felt a frown slip across her face and she'd shake her head upon hearing what the Baromon had to say. A door to an ancient realm? The idea itself was ludecrious. She'd push her way through the crowd and glance up at the Baromon; that frown still present.
"How would you even know that? Have you gone in?"

Colin James and his twin partners Luke and Bellamy had been in Snowflake Village when they felt the earthquake from the mountain. Thankfully no lasting damage was done to the building they were in, otherwise their boss Koharu would have been rather upset about that.
But still, the tremor had felt so unusual that they thought it would be best to investigate. After all, if the earthquakes were increasing in intensity, something bad may be causing it.
And so, a short ride on their mercenary digimon later, the three of them approached the crowd in front of the cave. Since it was the North, the three of them were wearing thick hoodies - Bellamy's was black, Colin's was red and Luke's was blue, all in somewhat matching styles.
They arrived in time to see a Baromon explaining that the entrance to this cave was a portal to a forbidden realm. Colin shuddered at that.
"I doubt it's more forbidden than the realm where Sophie keeps her diary" Bellamy quipped. Luke snickered at his brother's joke. Then a Renamon spoke up and asked the Baromon how he knew this. "Fair point" Bellamy remarked, his tail swishing a little with interest at the situation at hand.
"Would you mind being more specific about what would happen if we enter?" Colin called out.

The frustrated sigh that escaped Viktor's lip was further implied by the visibility of his breath, he was over at Snowflake Village to 'asses' how far it had come after the incident with the Devas. One of them,- Dog named Caturamon, had reduced it to a piled of broken wood and snow. Now it was thriving even more than before with actual cottages and legitimate hotels. Plus the cold would be another extreme he could test himself and his partner with. He could feel their next form on the edges of becoming realty. He knew it would just take a little more training and rest.
But this matter was something different entirely. He had heard of Infinity Mountain having its fair share of quakes and tremors, so much so that those unprepared found themselves in a less than favorable position. But apparently, word across the Inn had spread about some passage opening up. Something ancient.
Viktor had been around the digital world once or twice. So much so that he knew when something like this was more than an accident. He'd stake money on some ancient digimon or otherwise powerful being that was pulling the strings. It was always like this, and it would never change.
Viktor was dressed appropriately, wearing a simple green puffer jacket that was lined with fur around the neck and a black hoodie under it, to keep warm. His boots weren't exactly made for the cold, due to the steel toe within them, but they did the job well enough on such short notice. Genesis simply wore a scarf and wrapped it around the her muzzle, her fur was enough to protect against the bitter cold.
As they approached the rumored entrance, a Boromon decided to stand on a small mound of snow and declare the dangers this place held, followed quickly by a Renamon who detested. While she did have a point, Viktor would simply observe and watch. Making notes of all parties involved.
Genesis, on the other hand, was too busy looking at the Renamon who spoke out. Being a Renamon herself, she always compared herself to those of her kind. She was definitely much more beat up, scars along her face and arms, her ears were cut with small edges more jagged due to rips and tears. She remembered when those blemishes and scars didn't exist. Before all of this. She turned her attention back to Viktor, who simply leaned on his back foot, stroking his beard;
"A job for two?"
She smiled and crossed her arms, "Wouldn't have it any other way."
The two sat, waiting to hear the inevitable argument that would rise from the Boromon and Renamon, to which, they would ignore. Genesis was formulating a plan, and if she knew her partner. He was doing the same thing.
Something or someone was behind this. They were going to find out who or what. Whilst finally taking that final step into the realm of Super Mega... at least, that was their hope.

Unbelievers. It wasn't an unexpected appearance, honestly. Each time somebody told "don't go in", somebody was already going inside. Still, this was a warning that they probably wanted to hear.
Who knows, with any luck, Baromon would be able to prevent these from dying a horrible death. "My bloodline has guarded this entrance for generations! The legends don't lie, this a forbidden place where the only thing you'll find is the cold embrace of death. And who knows what else."
The digimon's tone was ominous, and it did a good impression at conveying that he meant business. He couldn't stop anyone that really wanted to enter, but at least he could make sure that they knew about the perils that awaited inside, and that the most likely result wouldn't be a pleasant one.
Most of the digimon gathered here seemed to pay heed to his words, but a few brave ones gazed at the Baromon with skepticism. Was he really saying the truth? Or maybe he was hiding something?

K glanced back when she heard someone remark about being a fair point, which was shortly followed by a younger human calling out asking for him to be more specific about what would happen. She rose her brows ever so slightly when she noticed that wasn't the only human around, nor was K the only other renamon. The other looked more weathered than she, but then again different lives meant different things after all.
K found herself frowning when she turned back to the Baromon, noting that he didn't seem phased with the questions. Like he had prepared for them or something along those lines. She gritted her teeth and shook her head, she didn't believe that his bloodline did anything of the sort.
"Sure they have and what legends are those?"
K would cross her arms, if he driveled on about some legend making this out to be some terrifying place she wasn't going to have any of it. If he was baffled by the question or the ilk, she'd just go in. Something was off and she was going to get the bottom of it.

Colin and his partners turned to see another human with a battered looking Renamon had arrived. They recognised him as the human that had beef with Luminas in Coronamon's restaurant in Whitewater. Well, this would certainly be interesting. Bellamy for one might be a bit suspicious of him, given how he had complained about Coronamon's cooking publicly, but was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, since it may have been a ruse to lure the Luminas mercenaries into action.
Regardless, they looked back at the Baromon to tell them that only the cold embrace of death laid inside the entrance. Be that as it may, Colin folded his arms. "Regardless, earthquakes have been increasing in the area. Will you at least tell us what's causing them so we can continue to keep Snowflake Village standing?"
Although the Baromon seemed to be being deliberately cryptic, so he doubted much would be gained from asking this. While Colin would rather not go inside after hearing that, well, he kind of felt an obligation to do so, since his twin partners were very powerful digimon indeed, it would be amiss to just walk away and risk the earthquakes growing so strong that the new inn in Snowflake would be destroyed.

It seemed no straight forward answers were to be found here. At least not from the Boramon. Viktor scoffed slightly at the threat of 'the cold embrace of death'. If he had a bit for every time he heard that, he could probably buy the contract Luminas had on his head. Every threat he faced in this world always came tacked on with that threat. Almost in that exact manner. Once that term is used on over a dozen occasions, it tends to lose its sting.
He right away noticed Colin and his twins. Recalling them from his brush with the Luminas' Mercenaries and how he insulted his lover's food. Despite it actually being fairly decent. He made no offer to apologize, because he wasn't sorry. He did what he did to rouse the mercenary digimon into attacking. It worked, he dealt with them, and it was made obvious by now. If he wanted to hold it personally, that was a scenario of his own making.
Regardless, Viktor walked to the other Renamon and spoke softly, trying not to startle if he caught her off guard by his silent footsteps. If she turned, she'd see a sharp, weathered face that gave way to a long black beard and back-swept hair with ghostly-blue eyes that seemed to stare through her. Though his visage might have appeared to be a scowl, his mood on no way matched his permanent grimace.
"You are smart for being skeptic. But, the truth lies in the middle. I am certain an entity is behind this. You have to ask yourself if that is trouble you want to deal with."
Viktor wasn't trying to dissuade her from going in. Just trying to get her to consider her options. He wasn't sure why he'd give the Renamon advice. Perhaps it was because of Genesis, who looked at the other fox with concerned eyes. She remembered when she was young, dating for adventure. She had lost pieces of herself throughout the years. Mentally and physically. Viktor had seen her watch the other Renamon and decided to speak, more on her behalf, but he could tell what she wanted to say.
She remained silent as Viktor continued this time to the Baromon, "Explain your bloodline's responsibility. What threat awaits us should we enter?"
Genesis stepped closer, pulling her scarf down as if to imply her listening more intently.
Whatever was in there it was trouble. It's existence was a problem for everyone else and it needed to be dealt with. Even if that meant death.

The Baromon sighed. These wouldn't give up easily, would them? In situations like these, he definitely believed that ignorance was bliss, and the less the others knew about the perils that lurked beneath those accursed tunnels, the safer they'd be.
Alas, they had asked about it, and he would answer. "An ancient entity lurks in the heart of this mountain, dormant and bound for millennia. Chained there by one of my ancestors, it became my duty to watch over it; to make sure that nothing like what unleashed ages ago comes to pass."
A somewhat long, yet tense pause ensued as the surrounding digimon listened to the tale. Murmurs began to spread; some filled with dread, some with curiosity, some with panic... the many emotions those digimon felt. "When it stirs on his slumber, however, tremors like the ones you've witnessed happen."
A small voice piped right away, however; a Chuumon. It had been one of the rare, greedy murmurs, "The legends also tell of an ancient and powerful artifact hidden within those tunnels! What about it?" Baromon couldn't but stare nervously at the digimon before replying. "Would you sacrifice this area's peace for such an item? That's a selfish notion, and one I'll not permit."

K flicked her ears backwards a little bit;f rowning as she heard someone else speak again. Figuring it was the youth again; she turned he rhead brows furrowing slightly. He had a good question; quicker to the heart of the problem more than anything. It was immediately noted that he seemed more concered for others about this more than himself which was interesting all things considered. Many a mon thought that humans were nothing but selfish. She wasn't one of these, but she couldn't help but wonder why?
She wasn't expecting to be directly spoken to from someone else in the crowd; she was paying too much attention to the Baromon. She was quick to turn, brows raised and hand sliding to her hip after a few moments. He seemed to praise her for being skeptic, but he also seemed to think that there was truth in the middle of it. Was it trouble that she wanted to deal with?
A hand came up to rub at her muzzle, was it worth it to deal with this sort of thing? In the long run it might seem paltry but if everyone ignored things that happened the digital world would be a downright mess. She'd shrug after a few moments turning slightly to look at the Boramon.
"It'd make sense if someone or something was behind this, and I'd say yes. This is something I'd want to deal with, if everyone chose the passive route there wouldn't be much of a digital world left."
She'd cross her arms, staring up at the Baromon as the older human asked his question. Her eyes flicked back to the other renamon as they approached; they were certainly weathered weren't they? How long had they been like that? Not questions you could really ask someone appropriately.
Whenthe Baromon sighed she figured that they were getting closer to the core of the matter. So there was an Entity that was within the mountain, but it was chained there by an ancestor? So the older human was right on that guess, and then there was more about the creature stirring in their slumber causing the treamors.
The question was more now, how to solve the problems of the tremors? She'd frown however when the small voice piped up. An artifact? Greed didn't sprout in her eyes, several questions did. Why was it there? what purpose did it serve? She found her questions bubbling to the surface and she'd speak up with them.
"Why is the artifact there and what purpose does it serve? Would it help putting this entity to rest?"

It seemed that Viktor raised a point that all that mattered was whether or not it was trouble that they wanted to deal with. Even if it was spoken to the Renamon, Colin had by now come to the realization that probably the best option in the goings on in the digital world was to simply mind one's own business.
Trouble was, these earthquakes were his business. Baromon then explained that these tremors were the cause of some ancient entity. Luke shivered a little at the mention of it, not only from the cold. But, questions had to be asked. Luke didn't want lives to be lost carelessly for overlooking information. "Well, what is this entity anyway? Why is it chained in the mountain?"
Bellamy glared at the Chuumon meanwhile. Before he was reconfigured, the Impmon may have been tempted by this, but, he had everything he wanted in his life right now so he didn't feel the need to add unnecessary risk for the sake of selfishness. But then the Renamon asked if that artifact could be used to stop the entity. Bellamy was a bit unsure about this line of questioning, it seemed that the Baromon was losing patience.
"Okay okay, so, you got this big monster tied up in this place for all eternity, right?" he asked. "I take it he's too powerful to just get rid of, since I take it you wouldn't wanna keep him alive if you could destroy him. So, how do ya know he ain't tryin' to get loose eh? Can this mountain hold him? Or is this gonna be a problem we're gonna have to deal with anyway when he breaks out?"
While Bellamy knew very well that there were digimon stronger even than them in the digital world, having been in combat against such a foe and lost a friend and almost his own life, even as a Super Mega, turning his back on such a problem wouldn't be the right thing to do.

People and mons had the ability to get needlessly hard once they proposed it. Baromon couldn't but sigh at the barrage of questions directed at him. These beings' lack of faith was borderline disturbing, and so was the fact that others seemed to think with their pockets rather than with their brains. A pity.
"In the end, I won't be able to stop anybody who really wants to enter, and if you really think you're right, the only thing I can do is to wish you remain with a clean conscience once you get out. If you get out, that is."
In all honesty, he somewhat liked how the Impmon and the Elecmon thought. They seemed to have cool heads, despite their obvious desire to venture in. The digimon would begin to address them. "The legend tells that it's an impossibly old creature, almost as old as this world itself. A being of endless hunger that only exists to consume everything in its path. I'm not going to lie and say that it cannot be vanquished, but if it hasn't been already, that should be a testament to its power, don't you think?"
Maybe was a flawed line of thinking, but if something couldn't be eliminated, better if it was stopped, right? "I'm confident in this mountain's ability to hold the beast. What I don't trust is the greed of meddlesome individuals. While powerful, the rituals that bounded the beast can also be very fragile, and a misstep would result in... the doom of us all."
The Chuumon, who was extremely tired of this blabber, just stepped ahead and ventured into the mountain. His eyes had the gleam of greed on them, and he wouldn't be as easily dissuaded as most of the digimons in here. He was way smarter, after all.
The Baromon, who seemingly hadn't noticed the digimon sneaking in, affixed his gaze on the Renamon again. "Frankly, I'm not sure on the artifact's existence. The ancient legends of my bloodline don't mention it, and it might just be a rumor given the mysterious nature of this mountain. A trap for curious traveler, if you will."

K shook her head a little bit, the other in the crowd seeming to have more questions than she. But they were certainly good questions, relatable to the issue at hand. Things she had considered and other things that she hadn't. One such question being what this entity was. She'd cross her arms and thoughtfully stroke her muzzle.
Once again the Baromon gave them a warning, a pretty simple one along with the previous ones that it had put forth. It would likely dissuade many a mon from entering; or even humans for that matter. She'd freeze however when the Baromon said that the being was almost as old as the world itself. A digimon that old had to be powerful and likely was chained up for good reason. She'd furrow her brow, curiosity sparking in her eyes again. She wanted to see this entity first hand now, something fierce. But she also wanted to make sure that the damn thing stayed within the mountain.
"Do you know the rituals? Or how to strengthen them at least?"
K spotted that chuumon from earlier stepping into the mountain, she felt a wave of irritation wash over her and she stepped forward rubbing her neck awkwardly. She didn't have interest in the artifact past if it could help on the ritual or keeping this "all powerful ancient entity" bound up.
"Rumors have a baseline of some kind, I'm not interested in the item itself. I'm more interested in keeping this entity bound up. I'd rather not have my home broken apart if things go more south than they are. I know you can't stop us from entering and such but that doesn't mean I'll act foolishly. I cannot think of more questions to ask, and frankly I don't want to waste time."

The more Viktor thought about it, the more this was becoming another fight for someone else's war. How many times was he going to have to get his hands dirty for someone else's sake. Genesis was wary, he could see it. She was only following his lead. Already exhausted from their last endeavor, and not enthusiastic about jumping back into the fire, Viktor could feel her will giving way. No sense in battling something they'd done a thousand times. Not to mention there were too many feet in this dance floor. They'd be stepping on each other for sure.
Viktor put a gloved hand on Genesis' shoulder, "We are leaving. This is not our fight. The foe in there is an adversary for these lot. No need to concern ourselves."
Genesis wanted to argue, but the more she thought, the more he was right. They weren't even back to where they needed to be and though able to go Super-Mega, they had not even taken the form. She was relieved to hear her partner finish his sentence. Finally, he was learning from his mistakes.
"Okay... Good luck. We'll know if you all met your end if the mountain keeps shaking." a wink was shot to the Colin kid, just to give a little scare.
Viktor pulled his hood up and began walking into the seemingly endless fog, Genesis flanked his left side as she followed close behind. The two vanished into the white, leaving nothing more than foot steps that quickly vanished under the blankets of snow.

Bellamy for one was beginning to get a little weary of how irritated the Baromon was with them asking questions. They weren't grave robbers or saboteurs or individuals that wanted to release the entity within. They just wanted the earthquakes to stop.
Colin was the first of them to respond to Baromon's statement. "When we return, our consciences will be clear. We won't defile any sacred shrine or take any treasure that doesn't belong to us" he promised. If the Baromon was a tombkeeper, of course he would want the place he was defending to be as clean as it was before intruders entered.
Luke and Bellamy glanced at Colin with a bit of surprise meanwhile. They hadn't expected him to be this bold, but, of course, Colin bore the crest of Tenacity.
Baromon's next words at least lowered Bellamy's irritation in how he seemed to be explaining things to them. A creature as old as the digital world itself. A creature of endless hunger. Many have tried to vanquish it, but have failed. This made Colin and Bellamy's confidence fade somewhat.
So Baromon was confident that the mountain could hold the beast? As long as the delicate rituals held. At this point, Colin was willing to sit down with the Baromon to discuss a way to re-strengthen the rituals and continue to hold this entity in stasis. After all, his partners had the ability to evolve to Super Mega. If Baromon needed power for the rituals, he would gladly help out. The Renamon asked about the rituals, seemingly getting the same idea as them.
Then the Chuumon entered the mountain.
"Hey! Wait!" Bellamy snapped after him. Impulsively, probably because this was a digimon equivalent of a cat chasing a mouse, Bellamy ran in after him, hoping to drag him back out until they had everything sorted. Realizing how dangerous the situation was, Colin and Luke made steps to follow him. Before they entered the cave proper, they turned to Baromon.
"We don't want to go too far, but we'll try to stop the Chuumon" Luke told him. "We're willing to help you with anything you need to re-seal the mountain and stop the entity from going loose, but, we can't afford to let this guy unbind this thing".
Viktor and Genesis seemed to bow out of the adventure for now. Colin felt a chill as one of them said that they'd know if they failed if the mountain kept shaking. He gave a nod in return and turned to the tunnel, hoping to stop the Chuumon in time.
Bellamy was following the Chuumon at a distance meanwhile. He knew Colin's promise not to defile anything within, and so hoped to catch up to the mouse without launching any projectile attacks that could cause damage.
