An Acquaintance in Need [Tetsu]
|
Post by Toki Akiyama on Nov 5, 2017 0:09:44 GMT
Nightfall came to Toki's first day in the Digital World as he had offered to help a young boy named Tetsu find his lost Digimon partner. He hated to see someone in trouble and this was a way he could do something good even though he still has very little knowledge on what exactly this world was or what dangers lied within it. "Are you sure you're okay enough to walk with me...? That injury doesn't look very good." he said, concerned for Tetsu's health. He didn't understand the need to push oneself for the sake of another, but he kept an eye on him to make sure he was okay, occasionally offering him a bottle of water in case he got thirsty.
This place was pretty, if not rather unsettling at night. He kept close to Tetsu so he could keep him safe in the event something happened. Toki looked up at the enormous trees, in awe of the environments. The grass beneath his feet and the denseness of the forest around him gave him an adventurous feeling he didn't understand yet but it drove him to want to see more. He wouldn't admit it and still wanted to find a way to get back home, but the feeling was there in the back of his mind.
Despite his excitement, Toki focused on making sure Tetsu was okay. "If you need to take a break, just let me know." he said as he stepped over some of the roots. "So what kind of person is Gryz? He clearly means a lot to you..."

"This is easy," the boy answered curtly. He has bandaged himself to lessen the scar exposure. His fever has mostly receded and he's sure that Gryz is here. His Digivice said that he is. But, what should he do? What should he do if Gryz doesn't want to return, or hell, corruption has consumed him? What if he become like Ogremon and Goblimon in that temple...?
He has unconsciously stopped walking. Only when Toki asked him about Gryz that he noticed this. "...Gryz? Uh... Gryz is my partner... He's a cute, fluffy Bearmon. He's kind of like a big brother bear to me... he's a really huge Bearmon about this tall..." Tetsu gave an approximation, which is about his height. "...We... we faced a lot of stuff together and... he taught me a lot of stuff. Gryz... Gryz always protected me and followed my selfishness..."
He seemed to have no idea how else to proceed. Should he tell this new guy about the Corrupted mission, or should he stays silent? Whatever the case, the dot on his Digivice isn't moving the slightest. It's still there, blinking, waiting for him to come.

"He's lucky to have someone like you and you're lucky to have him." Toki responded as he let Tetsu guide the way since his digivice is what guided them in the correct direction. He noticed something seemed to bother Tetsu, but it wasn't in his nature to pry into that sort of stuff. If Tetsu wanted to tell him about it then that's his decision. "I can't promise much...but I'll do what I can to get you two reunited." he said. It felt nice helping another person out. For once he actually had the opportunity to.
"How long have you known about the Digital World?" he asked him in the hope that it would give him something to talk about. "Does everyone who winds up here eventually get a partner?" he asked. He rubbed the back of his head, hoping that wasn't a bad question to ask given his current situation. He should have kept his mouth shut "Sorry for asking so many questions when we should be focusing on what's in front of us."

"...All I request is..." Tetsu began "don't risk your life. I... am not sure if that thing is still fully Gryz or something else... if it's something else..." Tetsu can't even began to think about it. If his partner somehow become a corrupted Digimon then surely..."....Run, that's all I'm asking for."
Hmmm, how long has he known Digital World? "Two months in I think. I was originally from Hokkaido. Really devastating hurricane destroyed the farm and killed some of our animals. While the insurance is fixing stuff, my grandfather offered us to stay with him, so here I am."
Does everyone who ends up here getting a partner? "...Not... in super to the point I guess? There are types that get... 'spiritual' partner. They're called spirit user. But apparently some of these totems are silent, completely silent, and they affected your mental state when you transform into a Digimon. So... yes, they're not exactly partners that you can see, but they're partner nonetheless."

He listened intently when he began to speak. He requested for him to not risk his life...but if he just runs away while Tetsu is in mortal danger, how could he ever look at himself the same way again? He simply nodded to him. When he began to talk about how long he's been here and how he came to Shibuya, he decided to add a little something about himself "I'm from Ishikawa. My father runs a dojo there and that's what I've been doing most of my life...studying for school and practicing under him. I moved to Tokyo for university, but...I don't know what I'm going to do afterwards. I think my father expects me to inherit the dojo, though I don't think I'd be a very good teacher." he sighed.
His interest was peaked when Tetsu spoke of spirits "Spirits...? Becoming Digimon? I find that hard to believe, but after seeing Digimon with my own eyes it's hard to tell what's real anymore."

"I think when it comes to teacher, the most important thing is that you cares about your student. You kinda passed that with flying colors," the boy admitted. "So maybe you just need to work on how to be imposing, or kind, but still respected by your students.... What sort of Dojo?" he asked finally.
Well, his surprise is understandable. "I just saw one once myself. It's... not pretty, but definitely interesting. I wouldn't mind to be able to fight, I mean, I'm quite strong." Strong... if only the young man knows that this boy literally slammed down a three meters (on four feet) bear to the ground... "But at the same time I won't trade Gryz for anything. Gryz is my best bud."
...and now, they're halfway there. Tetsu signs to Toki to be quiet and starts to slowly walks, making sure that he's not making any sound as he does.
"...Something might be here, I have no exact idea... but they felt hostile," the boy pointed out. "It's not Gryz though... he's... still not moving at all."

"Oh, Kyokushin Karate. My father pulled no punches with me either. He wanted me to be strong so I could protect myself from how harsh the world could be. Didn't have much time for anything other than training." he said. He thought on what Tetsu had said. He was mature for his age. Toki didn't like being imposing as it seemed for most of his life he naturally was to other people due to his height. He'd rather be seen as kind and understanding.
When he was motioned to stay quiet, he crouched down immediately and made sure to move with practiced precision to avoid making too much noise. "If we can avoid a fight, that's preferable...I'd rather not hurt someone..." he said. His philosophy seemed more akin to something like Judo or Aikido. While he would prefer to avoid a fight, the confidence in his voice was of someone who could stand toe-to-toe with anything bravely. Would he win? Who knows? He just wanted to help Tetsu.

"Hmm, karate huh..." Tetsu nodded at that. "And don't worry, if you don't want to be seen as intimidating, just show that you're equally caring. Usually some students just cannot be treated with just care they disrespect you, so you need to show them that you're equally strong..."
Tetsu suddenly noticed that he might have given a patronizing speech for a guy seven years his senior when he started to tiptoe and took a rather sizable branch, thick enough to be used as bat, but not enough for fighting against an adult stage Digimon. "...Uh, sorry, probably I'm just too used to be in Digital World. Also it's unfortunate, but going without a fight in this world is kinda possible, but might be a really hard task if you're against some territorial Digimon.
Some Digimons are used to see that if you don't have strong Digital smell on you, then you're most likely partnerless. Some of the more secure one will just leave you, because they just think that you're passing through. However, for territorial one..."
Just as he said that, a needle aimed at his head. Tetsu reacted in time and managed to swat it away, but the second one literally blew his makeshift bat to pieces.
"That was too close," he muttered.
The culprit showed itself. Two of them. They're flanking both of them.
"First lesson in Digital World... if they're this aggressive, try to assess the situation whether they can be talked with or not."
...No reply from the Digimon. They're feral after all.
"...Looks like they're the more feral types. If this is so, then move to the second phase..." Tetsu readies his stance. At first it looked like a chinese martial arts... but what can this guy do when the enemy is flying? "...I'll leave the other guy to you. These guys lives in colony. It's best to knock them unconscious as fast as possible."
Almost as if it understood what Tetsu wanted to do, it began to buzz louder. Before it can continue, however, Tetsu activated a really nifty item that perfect for these guys. Suddenly his hands covered in energy.
The shocked Fanbeemon immediately flew backward--but that was the weakness of Digimons that's based from bee. They can't exactly flew backward that well at all! Tetsu takes this chance to shoot what looked like a Ki Blast from his arm. The Fanbeemon was blinded by it and disorientated. In its panic, it has accidentally hit itself to a tree and fell down, enough for Tetsu to use a chop on its head, making it unconscious. Just in case, he looked at Toki, hoping that the other guy is OK.

Toki was appreciative of any advice, regardless of the age of the person giving it. "I'm grateful for the advice." he watched as he broke a branch off of a tree to use as a weapon and took some deep breaths to get the energy circulating in his body. "Being cautious is not bad in moderation..." he said as he continued to follow Tetsu.
When the bee-like Digimon dove at them, Toki side-stepped and attempted to slam down his fist on top of it, but it swerved away and buzzed about in front of him. His attempt at attacking seemed to have only angered it more. "I won't do more than what's necessary..." he said to his silent opponent, striking a stance as the Fanbeemon floated from side to side before it charged towards Toki for a tackle. The erratic pattern was difficult for him to get a read on, but Toki managed to slam his palm against its head and remained rooted in his stance despite the force of the tackle. The Fanbeemon, however, thrust its stinger forward and fired off several of them. Caught off guard, Toki only managed to dodge a few of them before one embedded itself in his leg. He pushed the Fanbeemon away and clutched at the serrated stinger in his leg. It then slammed into Toki and knocked him to the ground while he struggled to keep the stinger away from his body, but now that he knew it could just shoot them at him, he felt trapped. If he couldn't hold his own it would give Tetsu more to deal with...
Then, a bright flash of light shined between Toki and the Fanbeemon as the Digimon flew a few feet away defensively. As Toki scrambled to his feet, he saw a strange purple device floating in front of him. He swore he could hear a voice in his head "There is a turmoil within you. A struggle to find true balance in your life. What you wish to do and what is expected of you...tell me...do you wish to have the strength to aid those here in the Digital World and find the balance within your own life?" it asked, the soothing voice friendly and wise. Toki gulped as he looked at the device and took it in his right hand "Yes..." he said. A strange energy circled around Toki's free hand "Good. May my spirit give you the resolve to find yourself." with that, the voice disappeared. He looked at the device, then at the energy from his hand. The top part of the device glowed a similar color. He brought the energy and the device together and a wave of power pulsed within him "The first step to the mountain's peak..." he said before the energy spiraled around him "Spirit...Evolution!" he shouted while particles of light that shimmered like grains of sand surrounded his body. The light formed a bubble around him and in a moment, it dispersed like a sandstorm and a purple, rabbit-like Digimon in a martial arts gi stood in Toki's place "Turuiemon!"
The Fanbeemon buzzed, afraid of this new development, its antennae glowing red. Toki glanced at the antennae and leaped towards the Fanbeemon with blinding speed "Knuckle Duster!" his fists glowed with a white light as he swung a fist down on top of the Fanbeemon with one hand. While it was still recoiling from that blow, Toki landed from his leap and rooted himself in place as he swung another fist right into its abdomen to send it flying against a tree. After a blow like that, it was definitely down for the count.

The battle was done, but something is bothering the boy even more than the appearance of the two territorial Digimon. Now that Toki can evolve, some of the forest dwellers started to stir. Some understood that he just got his spirit, but another already feeling uncomfortable. But that's when Tetsu saw that the dot is moving, very fast, toward them. He was on guard, and... that's when that appeared.
He had no idea what is that Digimon. It looked like a mummified lion Digimon. Tetsu's Digivice fell to the ground. The signal is showing that the Digimon is in front of him. That is...his partner? A Mad Leomon? No wonder that Tetsu refused to talk about it for some time. The smell of corruption was so thick on it. The Mad Leomon stared at the boy. Slowly, it raises its fist.
The boy was unmoving, only tears falling down his cheeks. All he can think now is to put this Digimon out of his misery. But can he do it? Can he really eliminate the partner that the Digital World gave to him....without the chance to revive him back?
"Gryz---!!"
The fist was lowered down, but... there are no splat that supposed to accompany something fleshy destroyed. Instead, a huge bear Digimon, bigger than the Mad Leomon stood on his two feet and blocked the hit.
"..................No one..."
Tetsu slowly opened his eyes. The bear paw protectively hugging him. The bear looked odd, almost demonic even, with red eyes and grizzled fur, yet his posture looked so gentle.
"...NO ONE HURT MY PARTNER, YA HEAR!?"
The bear punched the mad lion hard, enough to knock it away, sending it crashing through two trees.

Toki looked up from his victory as he saw the rampaging Mad Leomon. It was too strong for him...there was no way he could do anything against something like that, but his legs moved on their own as he dashed to help Tetsu. Then, a large bear Digimon got between them and sheltered Tetsu, batting the Leomon clean through some trees.
Without missing a beat, Toki ran towards the carnage and leaped off of the remnants of one of the trees and launched himself towards the Mad Leomon "Stone's Dance!" he would attempt to kick the Mad Leomon square across the jaw and follow through with a string of sweeping spin kicks and finish it with a heavy stamp on top of its head. Whether or not this would work however could mean the difference between dealing a heavy blow, or taking extreme damage instead.

"Whoa, who's that mad kid?" Gryz asked his partner who just chuckled "That's a new friend," Tetsu answered. Gryz however is worried. The Mad Leomon felt every one of that hit. It is enough to give a normal human more than a concussion, but this is a Digimon. A child attack aimed at the head is indeed effective, but never as effective as a Digimon on the same level. It staggered backward, and seem to about to go down... until Gryz saw the eerie light on his eyes.
"Danger!!"
The bear slammed the ground, trying to call for his moves... yet nothing happened. Has his corruption made his skill also changed!? Gryz released Tetsu to help Toki, but he was too far!
With a loud roar, the Digimon raised his head in an attempt to swat Toki away, then aimed a fistful of corrupted Beast King Fist at him. Gryz was unable to do anything. He only can hope that Toki would get away safely, either by using tree branches or something else... This one gonna be a tough one to beat.

After being shoved to the ground, Toki got up barely in time to see the corrupted fist coming straight for him. The only thing he had time to do was brace himself and attempt to catch the fist. The full force slammed into his body and he slid against the dirt a good few feet before he came to a stop. He clung to the fist, teeth clenched from the impact, but his gaze shot up at the MadLeomon. Pain coursed through his body from the strike, but all the same he hopped onto its fist and ran up its arm "Knuckle...!" his fist shined with energy as he went for heavy punch on top of its head "...Duster!" before going for an empowered uppercut against its jaw with as much force as he could muster. He breath was ragged and exhausted. His body showed signs of one who had never fought as a Spirit User before, but his resolve was far above average due to his life as a martial artist.
After his attack he would try his best to hop away from Madleomon to give himself a chance to breathe. His body flickered slightly and just barely held onto his evolution. He staggered and groaned as he refused to let himself drop already.

"Gryz!"
"I know!"
The grizzled looking huge bear immediately entered a meditative state. Light of blessing concentrated on his palm. He quickly sent it to Toki the moment the guy stopped sledding. It should be enough to at least make a cushion for him, but... He was so surprised at the teen's recklessness. How can this guy stay alive like this? Tetsu too was shocked, but... damn... If it's not so dangerous, that would be hella cool...
The fist hit the Mad Leomon. He didn't had enough time to dodge. The moment the fist hit, the Digimon finally fell to the ground, stunned. Toki managed to get his time, but it was not all that enough to properly rest, only enough to catch breath, as the Digimon rose up again and roared in fury. It goes for another move, claw coated with corruption--
"NOT ON MY WATCH!" Gryz came and parried the attack. The bear looked at Toki. "Stand up, young man! While I'm holding him like this..."
Blood trickled down Gryz's fur, but as he's a fellow corrupted Digimon, he did not take all that much effect from it.
"You got to give him stronger strike!"

The light from Gryz came to him, much to his surprise. For a moment, he didn't even consider that Gryz would help him as he was back to protect Tetsu. When he came to Toki's aid to parry the next attack, Toki had shut his eyes and awaited the inevitable, but when he opened them to see that Gryz had protected him and that he was bleeding...something sparked within Toki.
In his own mind he was panicked "What's happening...how...how am I doing this...? It hurts..." he thought to himself. "Gryz...? Tetsu..? What's happened to me...? I need...I need..." he snapped back to reality when he heard Gryz's voice "I need to...to help them win...f-for both of them!"
After his internal monologue, Toki took in his surroundings. With a deep breath, Toki leaped to the nearest tree and began to kick off the trunks to jump between tree after tree. Higher and higher he jumped until finally, he kicked off the last tree and began his fall towards Madleomon, legs tucked in "Strike the...!" he would stamp his feet down on top of its skull "...Earth!" the force of the strike was normally an area attack, but all of that force had no where else to go but down the Madleomon's body in one concentrated blow.
