Even Fate Taunts Us... [Valentine's Day]

Why do I put myself through this sort of stuff...
Ah, Valentines Day. In all but Terminus and Whitewater, this was just another day of the year in the Digital World. But as with any other major human tradition, it had gained quite a footing in these more 'developed' area of the Digital World. Add a Rosemon who was just a bit too much of a romantic, and suddenly there was an entire annual get-together for blind dates for the holiday. And this year, it actually lined up with the actual holiday in the human world, making the 'ceremony' all the more popular!
But for Digimon, at least, it hadn't changed too much. This was Mikemon's first year at it - from Stingmon's recommendation, of all things - and so the cat had decided to sign up. On that day, the Rosemon told him to sit at 'Table 8', and wait for his lucky date to arrive. Only after he sat down did he realize he was out of place: to his left sat a Gazimon who was doing all he could to keep himself sitting tall and act attentive, and to his right, a... Datamon, too involved with his own displays to see the world around him.
Well, whatever. If this didn't work out, it'd just be an awkward memory to write off. Besides, after that awkward incident with trying to profess himself to K, he needed to try and put that behind himself, somehow.
That's what it was, right? Plenty more in the sea, or something like that?
((For this I'd like the reward as posts under This account. Thanks!))

She had never been much for Valentines day, the last time that she had done anything with it was back when she was still running her inn. One of the waitresses at the time had the idea of doing some sort of red coffee that didn't sell a single glass. Ultimately it was a fruitless waste of her time and money. But after sitting around in whitewater as long as she had, musing over past incidents and such...
Well. Examon suggested to her that she should go out and do something; but it wasn't more than a passing fancy she felt. But Jesmon didn't seem to argue the point at all; so what was she supposed to say? No? So she did the only thing she could do in this reasonable time.
Apply for some blind date program; one ran by a Rosemon that honestly had a little bit too much put into romantic ideals. But she wasn't about to argue with the fact that.. Well... She had absolutely nothing better to do than this. With a ticket in hand labeled quite clearly as '8' the shutmon pushed open the door to what amounted to the dating location.
She took maybe two steps into the locale and glanced around; noting that there were quite a few digimon here and that there wasn't a single one she recognized... Until she saw the mikemon sitting at a table; she felt her jaw drop just a little bit before setting it firmly in what amounted to a scowl. She saw the number on the back of the chair, on the table itself and... well...
Table Eight.
Was this some form of cruel joke? Some sort of set up? She scanned around for a few moments before slowly coming over. Pulling the chair out and taking a seat in it, staring at the mikemon in question. Her arms folded after a few moments and she almost scowled.
".... Mikemon."

Oh no.
Ooooh no, that did not just happen. As that familiar Shutmon - complete with Jesmon's crest around her arm - appeared through the door, the Mikemon just tried to brush it off. It was fine, he thought: there was at least fifteen tables here. She'd get lined up with someone else, maybe they'd share two words in passing, and they'd both get to go along with their easy, discounted time in Whitewater. Surely, fate wasn't cruel enough to pull him together like this.
That thought faded as she walked down the second row, holding tables six and ten. And faded once more, as the Shutmon looked over the table number, just a few yards away from him. As it would turn out, fate had decided to be rather playful today, the Rosemon's system pairing the doctor with his patient. Keeping as neutral a tone as he could manage, the doctor looked over as K took a seat, folding his own arms as he gave a nod to the Shutmon.
"... K. How are you?"
Oh, thank god the festivities broke up the tension - envelopes were already being passed down the tables, and by direction, Mikemon took one and passed the rest along. The Rosemon explained it well enough: a coupon book for activities throughout the city, either for free or on discount with their dates. Rented boats, amusement park tickets, fancy restaurants - nearly the entire city was open to them on this day.
Holding the envelope under his folded paws, the cat gave a small chuckle. "Well, this is happening, I guess... you alright with it?" Considering how the last time 'this' happened left a bit of a sour taste between them, Mikemon would have understood if she just stood up and walked away. If not? "I mean, honestly, we haven't even gotten to know each-other. I know all about the 'what', but not 'who' you are, at all." Sheesh, that felt awkward to say.

And there it was, Without a doubt in her mind this was the same Mikemon doctor that had helped her discover all sorts of problems that she had ranging from her personal venues to her inner data works. It was quite surprising that she ended up with him, in any fashion of course. Maybe somewhere else she'd push it off as just a coincidence....
Coincidences didn't get her into the human world.
They didn't burn down her inn.
They didn't give her three cores.
K didn't deal with Coincidences. She dealt with life as it came and the very fact that they were both sitting here was because of that. She'd sigh softly and place a elbow on the table, placing her cheek in the palm of it and watched as the envelopes were passed along the whole group.
"As well as I can be. Took some advice and ended up here as you can see... How about yourself?"
She'd turn her head a little bit when he spoke to her again, inquiring if she was all right with this. Personally she wasn't sure, there was that whole issue about getting to close with one another while she still was technically his patient along with a whole other plethora of issues.
"If I wasn't okay with it Mikemon, I wouldn't of even sat down. In fact I'd of left without saying anything at all."
She'd snort softly and give the Mikemon what amounted to a somewhat cheerful but tired smile.
"And I, Barely know a thing about you past your doctoring and a few other tid bits."
She'd look down at her hands and snort again; giving her head a little bit of a shake after a few moments of thought.
"Well I'm all for sharing, but that means you have to tell me a little bit too. You go ahead and ask for the first 'who' how about that?"
As awkward as it felt the Shutmon seemed awfully calm, in fact she didn't even seem too bothered by the turn of events. Even if it was rigged she'd deal with that later if that was ultimately the case....

Yeah, right, like anyone could sneak by the Rosemon and rig this. The mega had been handed bribes before in past years, and promptly moved the offenders out to the curb. No, this had to be as natural and fair as possible. 'Fate', she would tease.
And oh boy, fate was running these two through the ringer. "Eh, had a few interesting clients who were having problems with their spirit totems. Those specifics aside, Stingmon said I should give this a shot." Similar enough reason to her's, it sounded, the cat giving a light chuckle at the thought. Thankfully, she seemed to be alright with this outcome, which gave Mikemon at least one shot to try and set that last chance right. His chuckle joined her snort...
... And she had a point. Mikemon knew more than K did, so it was all fair for her to ask first. "Well then, if you put it that way..." The cat collected his thoughts: "I'm Dr. Mikemon, and I've been a medical practitioner in Whitewater for a little over ten years. I opened my own office so I could focus on research and the more 'interesting' cases, while also enjoying the relaxing air of the city. After so much time in the Dark Area, I just wanted a place to relax."
That was enough about his job, though: "I have been trying to get around a bit more, though. Traveling around to other facilities is a good excuse to take a bit of a sightseeing tour on the side, and between its ups and downs, I've liked it more than I thought I would." Well, there was nothing about likes or dislikes there, but the answer was definitely one the doctor would give.
"How about you, then?" 'Who' was K, when she wasn't the several-thousand-year-old fox of the gods?

The Shutmon perked up a little bit at the mention of dealing with a few clients that had some interesting problems with spirit totems. So the mikemon was actually able to deal with humans in some fashion? Or at least treat them? She thoughtfully stroked her muzzle and gave a small wry grin.
"So you know how to treat humans then? Cetainly a good thing with how many are making their way into the digital world proper."
Both of her ears paused and then swiveled forward; so the mikemon hadn't been practicing medicine here for his entire career? She paused and scratched her head in thought; had he been a doctor for a long time or was this something he found he could do and did it because of that?
"I'm curious what you mean by so much time, but I imagine it was long enough to warrant coming here. A good thing I imagine, considering all that's happened in whitewater and no doubt all the patients you get with 'interesting' problems or research options."
While she wasn't one hundred percent sure about everything he did, she was honestly thankful that he had been here and not some other really hard to travel to location. Past terminus and some of the other smaller towns, this one was one of the easiest to get to.
"Learning a bit about how other places work will only help strengthen your own. What sort of sightseeing? Any place worth going to?"
Her head tilted again and she considered his question. She mulled it over for a few long moments before tutting softly.
"I'm K, Former Innkeep of the eastern timberlands. Of which I was in for roughly a thousand or so years? Did it after a war between Virus and Vaccine type digimon. The latter of which lost really hard. Was really easy to build there with all the wood readily available..."
She'd pause and consider something briefly before sticking out her tongue.
"Originally I came from the Northern Prominence; at least that's where I kind of remember waking up. Ever been up there? It's cold enough to cut through fur and flesh; you'd think that it was programmed to be completely unlivable!"
Now what had she been doing as of late? The Shutmon shifted so that she was more facing the Mikemon.
"But as of late? I've been traveling alot. Been to a bunch of different places seeking answers and trying to broaden my perspective of things. While I haven't been finding much of the former I've been seeing alot more things I never could staying in one place."
She'd sigh gently and shake her head slowly.
"Over all I still haven't a clue who I really am, or what I'm going to do. But I don't really feel rushed on either regard."

It seemed K was following along quite nicely. To her first point, Mikemon gave a nod: "I specialize in the treatment of tamers, especially in relation to their Digimon. Its a 'growing market' for sure, fortunately and unfortunately."
That said, there was definitely a few points the Mikemon could give more detail to. 'So much time in the Dark Area'? "Oh, I don't mind answering that - I'm from the Dark Area. Still, Whitewater has proven far safer and more interesting." As for traveling? "Some of the mountains in the far north have absolutely breathtaking sights, but I'd have to say my favorite's the Valley of Dragons. If you can get in good with one of the local tribes you can get a lot of mileage in. Good sights, good foraging, and there's little better than traveling by dragon."
Other than that, the topic switched the other way around: K. An innkeeper for a thousand years, after a long-forgotten war that was mentioned in passing in some history books. "Actually a fair bit before my time... 600 or so years I'd think." The effects of the war probably weren't even noticeable to him... and she was from the Northern Prominence? "Oh, I've been, but its gotten a lot more habitable as of late. Good bars, active mines, and a tram all the way to the summit. Just have to watch for the more dangerous weather."
And she was a traveler too! She'd been seeking answers, but Mikemon returned the question: "Well, from all that, what's the most 'fun' place you've been? I could use another place to see." Still, it was clearly a bit awkward for both of them to talk like this...
... And giving a nod, Mikemon reached for the coupon book. "Well, today's not a day to feel rushed. Anything you in the mood for?" He slid the papers over to K. "I'm flexible enough, anyway."

"I imagine the problems they have are unlike any other."
She could only imagine the sort of issues that the humans would have when crossed into the digital world and when they had to constantly deal with dangerous things.. Risks would have to be taken and eventually something would go awry that no one would know how to fix.
She found herself blinking owlishly when the Mikemon said that he was from the Dark area itself. With a wry grin she'd tap the table a bit and lean forward. Then he even followed up with saying that the mountains in the north had breathtaking sights. Along with referencing dragon's valley. The shutmon sighed at the mention of that though; her experience there was less than pleasant.
"One of my suppliers is actually from the Dark Area, a rather ancient Weregarurumon named Sebastian. He's stuck being stooped over and has to walk around with a cane, ever seen him?"
Then there was a small pause and she'd rub her muzzle; the Dragon valley bringing somewhat unpleasant memories.
"The two times I was in the dragon valley I had to fight, some dragons didn't want some human on their turf and I had to help... And the other was dealing with some Tower that cropped up there. But it was in a barren part of the valley so I imagine that the stuff you're talking about is likely in the better part."
The mikemon had been alive almost four hundred years ago? That was impressive! She'd consider what all he would of been able to do in that time, past being a doctor now of course. She'd blink owlishly at the mention of the northern prominence being habitable. Bars, mines and a tram? The shutmon looked rather baffled.
"Seriously? I.. I might have to go up there sometime."
Then there was the query about the most fun location that she had been to. The Shutmon leaned back in her chair and let out a somewhat explosive breath.
"....Human world. There's this thin tower with a rotating circular building at the top. It's a restaurant too and the sight from it... Well."
She'd pause and rub her muzzle after a few moments.
"It was unlike anything I had seen. But as far as the digital world is concerned, I would have to say that the most fun location would beee.... Terabtyte Mountain. You can see for miles from the top."
When the mikemon reached for the coupon book the Shutmon quirked a brow. His question made her pause and she'd rub her muzzle in thought. Her ears flicking back as she wasn't honestly sure...
"Hmm... Maybe a bite to eat? Then we can go from there."
She'd look over the papers and grin just a little bit, there were plenty of things they could do...
"Unless you have a suggestion? I'm pretty much up for anything really."

"Trust me, I could spend all day on their problems." Mikemon's sarcastic tone and slight roll of his eyes suggested that he'd rather not, for a number of reasons. Between Isaac being trapped in an Impmon's body and Alicia's metallic limbs and a totem wedged halfway into her fractal code, 'Dr. Mikemon' had more than a little on his plate to deal with. Fortunately, the conversation moved along rather briskly - to someone he recognized, no less!
"Sebastian... oh, that Sebastian! Yeah, I've seen him around Mummymon's place once or twice. Nice enough guy, plays a mean hand of poker." The cat gave a chuckle, scratching the back of his head. "The, um, 'civilized' part of the Dark Area's quite a small place. You tend to rub elbows with everyone within the course of a month or so."
Weirdly enough, it seemed like talking about the Dark Area sat better with the Shutmon than speaking well about the Valley of Dragons. Hearing her experiences there, though, it was easy enough to understand why. "Yeah, unfortunately, they're a bit behind the times as far as tamers go. And its all too easy to catch the wrong side of those things." And yes, the spires: Mikemon and K knew more than enough about all that to last a lifetime.
Interesting... K had been to the human world? "Hm, never thought to go sight-seeing there. Never been a fan of holosuits, and its not like I look enough like a human world cat to pass for one at more than a glance." He sighed, taking a brief glance over himself with a chuckle. As for Terabyte Mountain, well, he'd been there! The cat simply matched that with a nod, as the two would start flipping through the book.
"Eh, I could use a bite to eat. Though, not there: everyone here's going to want to make their way there, and the wait would just be atrocious." Passing over the obvious high-end sushi place, Mikemon tapped his claw down about four pages in. "Surf-and-turf by the port? Good ol' outside seating and just enough of a casual crowd that we're not awkwardly staring at each-other through candle-light." The cat gave a chuckle, rubbing his nose with the back of his glove. "Though I'll return that same bit to you, I'm up for anywhere."

Mikemon's reply to her statement of course brought a small chuckle to the shutmon. It was easy to see that people would have problems and of course they'd come to the doctor for them, but the sheer number of them.. well... Likely would cause a personal level of problems? After all if they needed help too often or just the sheer amount piled on the mikemon would have trouble operating...
"I can only imagine, people have a habit of pushing their problems on those that might have the answers."
She wasn't so much saying this because she hadn't experienced this properly; but it was something she could easily understand. She'd tilt her head a little bit at the react to her mentioning sebastian. He knew of him? So much so that he had played poker with him? The shutmon's brows raised up until he explained why that would be.
"Makes sense I suppose, I wasn't really.. There for that long. I had business to take care of that required me to leave the area. I do plan on going back and saying hello eventually; he's good to do business with at the very least."
The shutmon rubbed her muzzle and frowned a little bit at the mention that the dragon valley were a little behind on the times. It made sense since dragon digimon were long lived and had a habit of passing the bad habits along. But she couldn't really blame them either. But she didn't really feel like dwelling on that place for the moment.
"I wouldn't of thought about it either. But Amelie brought me to it and well.. I couldn't really argue with the results. I can't really blame you on that one, the holosuit I have is a little.. less human than I thought it was initially. But it's still nice. At the very least Mikemon you could pass as a stuffed animal easily enough."
K would snicker softly and lean on the table a little bit; her ears flicking back and forth. She found her brow raising though at the general reaction he had to the pages. But she would likely follow his lead on this as she wasn't really aware of all the places in whitewater proper.
"I suppose it's probably some fancy place? Likely going to be more a coupon for a discount rather than a free meal too."
Ah yes there it was, the business sense she had still. Or at least the shrewd part of that sense; could you honestly blame her on that portion? The shutmon tutted a little bit at the suggestion of a location. She had passed by it before, but hadn't stopped in as she already had a meal not even an hour or so earlier. The small mention of the candle light along with the crowd was enough to warrant a chuckle and she'd gingerly give the Mikemon a shrug.
"Sounds good to me; in both regards. I'm not much for that sort of atmosphere and I feel like you wouldn't be either?"

"Heh, that's about how it is in the Dark Area. The only reason to really be there is if you have to." The Mikemon said that so casually, in reference to K's visit to the Dark Area. Sebastian had his supply job, but if the cat was so confident in his words, why did he stay so long in the Dark Area before? Well, the cat didn't dwell on that for too much longer.
Really, it sounded like he'd have to give the human world another shot. On the thought of a stuffed animal, though, he gave a bit of a snorting laugh. "Oooh, no, no. If I'm visiting, I'm not spending half the trip hanging on someone's hip. Not for me." Sheesh, that did sound a bit like a drag, but what else could be done? Aside from his one trip to try and find Maia and Kuu, he hadn't made many excursions out to the human world.
Small talk aside, it was time to change their locale! A lot of other groups had already left - some without their dates, as some pairs had given up even this early - and Mikemon and K would be soon to follow. "Well, that's just how these things work. Still, discount never hurt anyone." The Mikemon chuckled back. Their decision made, he pushed back in his chair, giving a small nod: "Not my thing at all."
As expected, well, every attraction in the coupon book had some crowd today, but the cat had made a decent enough choice: pushing through those busy streets, the smaller Mikemon surprisingly holding his own in the crowd, he'd lead on to that restaurant on the port. With a surfboard hung up next to their sign and a palm-tree decor by the front door, it exuded a more casual atmosphere than most - and with less than five minutes of waiting, the two would be sitting in the well-lit room, a screen window open up to the dock, the light sound of the crashing surf slipping inside.
Much more manageable than some dim candlelit dinner. "Places like this have been poppin' up all over Whtiewater in the last ten years. Sort of a 'slice of the human world' on this end." Well, at least the casual tone was going well enough...

"I feel like that could change though. It certainly has things that no where else does."
K scratched her head a little bit and she found herself frowning slightly; why did she feel that way about a place she had only been in passingly? After all her whole point to go there was just to gain a little bit of perspective. To understand a view she didn't know and people that she didn't know.
The idea of the mikemon hanging off of someone's hip made the Shutmon snort and almost burst out laughing. Though she was able to stifle most of it; a firm chuckle did escape from her.
"Sovereigns have mercy, I wouldn't be able to breathe if I saw that. You'd be much better suited walking around and experiencing it on your own or with a friend."
She'd rub her muzzle; though it was easy to see the wide grin that was on her face. There was no doubt that the amusement would likely stay for a good frame of time.
"That's true, though with some of the places I wonder why they'd even bother. It still murders the wallet."
She'd quickly stand, the chair easily sliding back into place as it felt like it weighed next to nothing for her. She was getting incredibly used to the shutmon form at this point even though she had been using something else for far longer. She noted the other couples; a slight frown at the ones that left without even trying. What was the point of something like this if you didn't even try?
She'd pad after the mikemon, easily keeping pace with him. Through the crowds she seemed to have no issue at all as some digimon were giving her a bit of a wide bearth. The holy symbol mixed with the fact she was clearly an ultimate put a damper on many that passed. Her brows raised as they came into the view of the locale that had been chosen. The quick wait mixed with the well lit room made it a little easier to consider things.
She'd take a seat and gaze out of the window before turning her attention back to the mikemon. She had to admit she liked the view of this place; even if it wasn't high up there was always something about the ocean itself that brought a little bit of majesty.
"Not a bad choice honestly, it helps customers adjust to change as well as making new ones that are more used to the human side of things easier to have approach it. Whoever built this place has a strong business sense."
She'd lean on the table a bit and snort softly.
"Did whitewater change a lot in the last ten years? The last time that I had been to it before my active travels, it was still a small town. So I don't really have much to go by."

Well, laughing at Mikemon's potential fate as a temporary stuffed animal aside, it didn't take them long to get settled in at a table. Peering through the menu - the bilingual menu in both English and Digital Script catching him slightly off-guard with a chuckle - he'd give a nod to K's compliment to their business sense. "Oh, more than that. Tamers get to settle in and Digimon flock for a bit just to see what it's all about. Honestly surprised we don't see more humans taking a stake in this business. Speaking of, steak does sound good..."
At the mention of Whitewater, Mikemon's ear gave a small flick. "Well, it's always been a bit of a tourist trap, but its become more... well, 'complete', I guess? It's hard to explain but with the recent pick-up in traffic its started to feel like a real city. Not anything crazy like Terminus, but..."
Mikemon settled on his words. "It's something."
Sheesh, they were already down to talking about the area itself, then? Well, there was likely a lower limit about what two older business-people could shoot the breeze about. After someone came around to get their drink order (Mikemon asking for a scotch and a glass of water), the cat mulled over the words in his head... finally letting out a sigh.
"Just to put it out there, my reason for coming back to that village wasn't really to take mushroom samples. Well, it was, but I had it in my head that I was going to ask you if you were free for a evening in the town, or something like that." Obviously, he never meant for it to get as crazy as it did. "Honestly, something just 'stuck out' about you in my head on that full day I was there. Don't really think I can put it into words well enough, but I was curious if 'something' was there."
"So, um..." The cat sighed. "Yeah. Sorry that spun out of control."

K would stroke her chin thoughtfully as she went over the menu; quirking a brow as she was greeted with the bilingual menu. It was rather simple to translate from one to the other wasn't it? She found herself chuckling lightly at what mikemon said; it made sense to her. Most humans were likely interested in adventure or the like, so the lower number of those with the business sense required for something like this.. Kind of didn't have her too confused on that part.
"Makes sense if you think about it, most humans that are picked for the digital world are fairly younger. I'd bet that the one running this one is fairly older than what we're used to seeing."
The mikemon managed to get another chuckle out of her at the mention of steak. She had to agree, it did sound good. And it was simple enough to where the both of them didn't really have to think over the menu too hard.
"I agree; it does sound good."
Whitewater had always been a tourist trap? That made sense really; considering that the location was nice. The town was well laid out and wasn't really that confusing once you were there for a little bit... She'd scratch her muzzle and muse over the city for a moment before chuckling again.
"I'll take your word on it. The bustle just seems the same to me. But that's probably because I'm used to a smaller location."
The shutmon was quick to order some water, but after a few moments she also added on a good glass of wine. She was firmly tempted to go for a whole bottle as she had never really had an entire one; but she'd rather keep it lucid with current company. Not as she had to worry about anything with him, but more just for personal reasons. She found her eyebrows raising slightly as the mikemon spoke about his reason for coming back to the village.
She was silent for a few minutes and she rubbed her muzzle thoughtfully; getting what amounted to a small grin.
"Well; if things had been normal and I was still at my inn No doubt I would of been free for the evening. As that particular month is somewhat slow. Travelers didn't really go through the eastern timblerlands as much with all the events..."
She'd sigh and lean on the table, gingerly tapping the table and staring at the mikemon as he continued.
"...Huh. Stuck out. That's... A really interesting way of putting it."
She found her brow furrowing a little bit and the shutmon rubbed her neck slightly. What could she say? It was rare to see a renamon now days it felt, even if there were a few tamers or even a spirit user that had them. Their numbers were quite lower than they used to be. But she doubted that was the reason. She sat there tapping the table, even through the drinks being delivered after a little bit.
Her silence was mounting into the region of being awkward as she hadn't a clue what to really say. She found herself frowning; but it wasn't from what he said. She just didn't know how to really respond to that. With a soft sigh she'd turn a little bit and stare at the mikemon; her muzzle still broken in a frown.
"I couldn't tell you honestly if something was there. I really can't. I'm glad that i left an impression but I have to ask."
She'd gingerly take a sip of her water, eyeing the wine glass after a few moments before shaking her head.
"If something was there, what could we really do? Other than keep honest and keep moving forward?"
She wasn't sure if she wanted to know the answer but then she turned a little more and for the first time on this 'date' was facing the mikemon without her arms crossed or obviously trying to distract herself from the fact this was happening.
"It didn't spin out of control; you were true to yourself and true to me. No one could ask for anything more than that. Maybe what now; where now?"
She'd grit her teeth and lean forward a bit, reaching across the table to firmly grip the mikemon's shoulder if he'd allow her.
"You did everything you could and more for me, you helped me where others could of balked and left easily. The sheer amount of effort itself is inspiring; and as a friend I'd say you would be one of the best."
She'd lean back after a few moments and sigh softly.
"...But I think after all that's happened we're not friends, Mikemon. We're something else entirely."
She finished lamely and rubbed her muzzle again. There was a faint tinge of red underneath her fur and she could feel one of the cores laughing at her.

"Mm, guess you're right," Mikemon responded, in regards to the business sense of tamers. "But if that's the case, it'll be interesting to see what happens in the long term. They won't stay that age forever, after all." The Mikemon chuckled at that. As for the bustle itself, the cat gave a shrug, giving the back of his head a light scratch: "Well, maybe the bustle on the outer rim of Terminus is the same, but around the station, it gets absolutely crowded. Honestly they should probably break up the market around there..."
With their drink orders handled, the pair was left to have their date... though it was perhaps clear enough that the two were having an awkward time of it. After Mikemon explained his reason for coming back to the woods, to see K again, the next few minutes went on in silence. He didn't think it was a bad silence - there was certainly some gears turning in K's head - but it was growing more tense by the moment. In that interval, the drinks came, Mikemon giving a quick nod of thanks to the waitress as she moved on.
Finally, K gave a grin and responded. As it turned out, if things hadn't gone to complete heck and back again, K very likely would have accepted that date - even if it was just a matter of having a slow business day. "Heh. Well... glad to know I 'stuck out' too." He left it at that, for the next bit of silence, but there was something different in the air. For the first time, the two were able to look to each-other and actually talk about this. Even the awkward pauses started to feel less off-putting, Mikemon feeling a slight smile perk up on his face.
What could they do if something was there? "Considering all that's happening right now, I guess that's all we can do. It's more a matter of what we could do at the other end of all this." The cat understood that things might have to be 'on pause' for a while, especially with working through their 'current matters'. Was that more-or-less normal? Honestly, the Mikemon wasn't entirely sure.
Her next words, however, were ones he didn't expect: 'It didn't spin out of control'. Before the cat could even muster his own response, he felt the Shutmon's hand reach over, resting right on his shoulder. Her next, appreciative words poured right over him, admiring the cat for everything he'd done. There was a lot the cat could say, about how it was his profession, his job... but would have he honestly gone this far for any other patient? Would have he taken such risks, if it wasn't for K?
He wouldn't have, of course. Her last words sank right in, and now it was Mikemon's turn to try and gather his thoughts. It took about a minute, before the cat closed his eyes with a smile, an evident blush of his own managing to poke through his cheeks. "... Something else entirely... I think that's about right." The Mikemon would reach a hand out, to gently grip around the Shutmon's own, with a smile.
"I... I don't know everything that's about to happen. Between you, between Jesmon and the rest. And I'll say that it'd be a bit unfair of me to suggest that we try and put our focus in... well, 'this'," Mikemon awkwardly motioned to the room around them, not quite wanting to drop a word more than necessary here, "while we're still working through that. But... well, at some point, K, once that's all settled..."
The cat sighed, looking right into K's eyes. "I'd like to see what we have between us." He gave a smile, still keeping that slight blush as his paw gripped around her's.
