Empanadas to go! [Kath/Akemi]

Katherine was definitely not alone in staring at the old guy. Akemi just found herself speechless. So the restaurant owner...Or...Actually, the only man in the restaurant also seemed to be a digimon and...This was all so strange already. Yet, something caught her ear. Or, rather! Something caught both the tamer and the ear of the digimon. "First one?" Akemi found herself asking. "...Was that the robber?" The human continued, expecting Anzu to tell her to shut up by now but...
The other girl didn't. She simply watched as the man revealed his true form. And...that was actually something she had never actually met before. A Veedramon. V-Dramon. Same thing. Different names. "Huh...Okay..." Anzu murmured, trying to figure out what a Misu was. Maybe a term of endearment. Maybe an actual name. Katherine deactivated Jazz' holosuit and the brunette near her was replaced with a Lopmon. Anzu let out a small "D'aw." before she became engulfed in the same purple light that had engulfed her when she had shown off Sangloupmon.
However. Rather than the vampiric wolf, the pink haired girl gave way to...
...
A little Tsukaimon. Akemi promptly nudged Katherine. "That's what I mean by bean. Look at her!" Anzu meanwhile felt--and looked like a deer in the headlights. Well, that was maybe hyperbole. But this felt a little awkward for her.

Oooooh, A BEAN. -She actually looks like a flying bean! -Katherine whispered to Akemi, trying to contain her laughter, not quite at the purple digimon's look, but at the fact of Akemi calling her "bean". Her eyes then widened as she took a better look at the creature, this bea- Tsukaimon, was actually the first digimon species that she saw during her whole adventure! -I know that digimon! -She said, pointing at Anzu. The fact was that Katherine's first encounter with a digimon had been actually with three Tsukaimon, on the rooftop of Overlord Enterprises, a while before she even met Jazz. -I've seen that digimon before. -The girl pointed out. -Around 2 months ago... well, actually, around one week and a half ago in Human World time, three Tsukaimons appeared here in Shibuya... I almost got killed. -Of course, no harsh feeling against Anzu, since it was obvious she was neither of them, but still, that explained why she couldn't quite place that name at first; when she actually saw those, she didn't even have a digivice, and it felt like it had been ages ago.
Jazz turned at her partner, remembering when the girl mentioned having encountered some digimon inside the Human World before meeting her. -I've seen some of those around Rustport. -The bunny muttered, still a light pink color on her cheeks after hearing Anzu's squeal when she saw her Lopmon form.
Leaving that behind, both Katherin and Jazz tried to shift her focus back into the whole situation: the Veedramon just laughed a bit at the whole display. -But look at you two, Misu! You're definitely on the cute side! -The dragon walked back behind the counter, where the kitchen was located; making a fairly loud stomping due to his obviously massive weight. -I wouldn't call him a robber, actually. I ended up giving him food with no trouble. -He stated, letting go a chuckle. Even when she knew she shouldn't judge by the looks, the V-dramon looked like a really nice guy.
-Why did you two come here, anyways, Misu? And how do you know about the robbery? Don't tell me it was broadcasted at the news in the end! I told those guys I didn't want the news to spread. -Turning on the stoves and taking some frying pans out of a shelf, the dragon turned towards the girls to ask. -Would you like some empanadas? Young hearts have to eat, don't they? -A wide smile ensued, while he kept smoking from his pipe.
-Yes! yes! yes! yes! -A very excited Jazz started bouncing at the same spot. Finally, what she had been waiting for since they arrived: food.

In all honesty, Akemi wasn't really sure what to think of a gaggle of Tsukaimon nearly killing someone. Or what that was like. "Ah...Well, she was the first actual Digimon I met, too. Though, that was as a Botamon. You...know what those are, right? Lil fuzzballs?" ...Though, she also couldn't keep herself from giggling at the agreement that Anzu was, in fact...A flying, purple bean.
Anzu meanwhile looked away from everyone, instead keeping her attention on the Veedramon. She saw pink on Jazz's cheeks so that probably meant sooomething was kind of awkward. Best not to pester her about it. "I-I'm not cute! I'm trouble!" She puffed her cheeks out and THEN looked back at everyone. Like, could they even believe this?
Of course, the word empanadas actually did snag her attention again. "...Oh, yeah, that's actually what we wanted in the first place. Food!" Anzu started to bounce too! Akemi meanwhile gulped. "...Yeah, it...was broadcast. Um...I'm really sorry to have to say that, Mister.

Seeing her partner had trouble placing the so-called Botamon, Jazz gave her a hand. -We saw some in Rustport, they were part of the group of baby digimon the Psychemon's and I used to take care of. -This really didn't help the green-eyed girl to remember how they looked exactly, considering it was for a very brief instant she saw them, but it did bring her memories of Koru, Roru, and Boru, making her wonder where they could be by now. -Aww, so when you found Anzu she was a baby digimon? That's cute! - Katherine smiled, looking at the Tsukaimon. Obviously, the bean wasn't going to get any support from the curly haired teenager regarding she not being cute.
While the two small digimon bounced out of excitement for finally be about to get some food, the Veedramon kept chatting with the duo of tamers.
-I see. Well, I didn't have my hopes up for that, so that's okay. It's neither of yours fault, Misu. -The Veedramon took a huge bowl of dough out of the refrigerator and started kneading it over a table, while he talked to the girls. Katherine just took a seat in a tall stool in front of the counter, making a soft gesture with her hand so Akemi followed and sat next to her. -About why we came... Well, I think we assumed, giving the odd circumstances of the robbery, it was possible there was a digimon involved. -She explained, regarding her reasons to be there. -Another reason is that I'm from Spain, a country where empanadas are widely known, so I just wanted to try those, as I did in my childhood.
-Well, as I said, I wouldn't call it a robbery. -The dragon explained while he kept working on those empanadas. -But I can see you're a part of the hungry young hearts; that's why I stayed at this world in the end, just to please those hearts wishing for food across new boundaries! -It was impossible to take away from him that he seemed extremely passionate about what he did. -I will make you some good empanadas! Tell me, how do you want them, Misu? I can stuff them with meat, cheese, pork, chicken, and even fish! And don't worry, these are on me.
-N-No wait! We can pay for them, Sir. -The girl rushed to explain, but the cook didn't seem to be paying much attention to her regarding this matter. -I'll take one with cheese and another with chicken. -She said, still replying to the Veedramon's question. -Yay! I want mines with chicken and meat! -Jazz stated, without really stop bouncing.
-Well, what about you two? -He gave a kind look to Anzu and Akemi, to then raise his gaze like he remembered something. -Actually, I haven't asked any of you, Misu, your names! -The Veedramon let go a loud laughter. -I'm sorry! That was rude of me. My name is Paul, it's nice to meet you all.

"Not even a baby. Just an...egg. I don't know how she got there, but I can...piece something together now that I know more. I think she got killed and her data wound up in the ruins. The angel that helped me out of there and I both initially thought she was a boy and named her Fuzzball." This was, more or less, the equivalent of Akemi telling embarrassing baby stories. The girl smiled, seeming to be enjoying this. Anzu, despite bouncing, continued feeling like a deer in the headlights.
Akemi decided to add her reason for being here atop Kath's. "Well...My friend here wanted me to try the food, too. And...since this is probably one of the few times she's...actually happy, I decided to oblige." It seemed to be going well so far, given the presence of pleasant company. And free food... She was about to state she could also pay, but...The Veedramon seemed to give no dangs!
"Aw yeah! Free food! Thanks, Mister Veedramon guy!" Anzu continued to bounce! "Gimme meat and chicken!" The bean stated. It was a coincidence that she and Jazz wanted the same ones, honestly. In all actuality, Anzu just really liked meat.
Akemi's choice, meanwhile, was simple to her. "...Fish and meat, please. I'm Amaya Akemi. Please, just call me Akemi. The Tsukaimon is Anzu. She's a good friend."

Her head resting on her right hand, Katherine listened to Akemi's short story. While she did, her index finger played with one of her curls, her eyes fixed on the shorter girl. It always fascinated Katherine how everyone related to digimons had a story to tell, some kind of adventures they had lived and some objective they were chasing.
-Ruins, huh? Sounds like your first encounter with digimon was even messier than mine, Ama...- I mean, Akemi. -Most of the times, Katherine had trouble asking some type of questions, fearing she might come as obtrusive. -What are you two looking for right now? Are you intending to find out about Anzu's past? -She finally decided to ask, it couldn't hurt to try, right?. -Y-You don't have to tell me if you don't feel like, of course! -She decided to clarify, anyways.
One of the few times Anzu was happy? Katherine tilted her head at this statement, but decided to not inquire further into this, she had been meddling too much already, probably.
-It's nice to meet you all, Misu! -While the conversation went on, the Veedramon stuffed the empanadas with the ingredients requested and put them in the frying pans, while he spoke.-I used to cook for a lot of digimons back in the desert, but it had been a while since I actually had digimon customers. -The dragon explained. Jazz immediately stopped bouncing and turned at him just after hearing this. -Back in the... desert? -The bunny muttered, staring at the cook. Upon the realization, her eyes widened. -You are... Big Paul!?
-Huh? -The Veedramon turned, sort of pleasantly surprised by the Lopmon's observation. -So you know me? -He then burst up in laughter. -I didn't know I was a celebrity or something, Misu! -Big Paul? -Saying that Katherine had no idea of what was going on was probably an understatement.
-Kath! -Her eyes still affixed on Paul, Jazz explained. -This guy is a legend around Rustport! Paul the Veedramon and Bastian the Ballistamon ran probably the most popular restaurant across the Western Flatlands! It was in the middle of the desert and it was very hard to find but everyone loved their food! -When I heard you mentioning Rustport I wanted to ask how was everything back there but I just didn't want to interrupt your chatter. -Paul explained, scratching the back of his head. -Mr. Paul was that popular? -Katherine asked, turning back at the dragon.
-One day, the rumor that they had decided to go to Terminus and expand their business began spreading, but... -Jazz's frowned, still staring at Paul, who seemed very surprised she knew that much about him. -...We never heard of him or Bastian ever again. -Well... yes, that's me! -The dragon said, still holding a genuine smile towards the group, while he took the empanadas out of the frying pan and placed two on four different plates each, putting them at the counter. -Enjoy your meal! I hope you like it.
Apparently, Jazz wasn't lying. These empanadas tasted like heaven on earth.

"It...was. A little traumatic, actually. There was a Lalamon involved that was...actually sort of sinister. It's something I'd...like to forget. But, having Anzu with me's proven to be a good help. Uh...We're not looking for much, though. Simply learning more about the bean and the stuff that comes with that. She's familiar with the Dark Area and we're...actually helping someone's little project down there." Akemi explained, adjusting her hat. "So, we're doing our best to help the Dark Area. While finding out about Anzu's past. At least, the bits she doesn't want to tell me. I...can sort of respect that but it's annoying sometimes..."
Big Paul...Anzu did not recognize that name. Hence her silence. But, she listened and stopped bouncing. Given how little she knew of the world -itself- this didn't really surprise her. But...She was willing to believe him. "Thank you!" She said when offered the plates.
The empanadas really did taste good. Reminded her of olden times. "Sooo...How come you're in this world now, Big Paul?" Anzu asked, midway through an empanada.

Both Katherine and Jazz showed a wide smile, as they munched on the empanadas made by the cook. The ingredients were fresh, the dough was crispy but very tasty and the stuffing was covered with some delicious sauce. "It's so good!" They both said in unison.
"Is that right? I'm glad you like them, Misu!" The Veedramon seemed genuinely happy that the girls were enjoying his food.
And, as an always natural result of an exchange with a new tamer, new concepts had been brought to the table for both Jazz and Katherine. The curly haired girl quickly shook her head towards Akemi statement. "N-No, please. I'm sorry for having dwelled into that subject." The girl lowered her gaze, to the tackle the rest of the short girl's statement. "The Dark... Area?" Katherine tilted her head, this being the first time she heard about such thing, at least that she could remember at the moment. The teenager turned towards her bunny partner, looking for any type of answer, but she seemed as clueless as she was about this.
Immediately, Paul turned towards the Akemi, upon hearing her mentioning this project regarding this unknown place. "Wait. You've actually been inside the Dark Area, Misu?" He asked Akemi. "By any chance, have you seen a Ballistamon named Bastian around there?" The dragon's eyes were wide open while he spoke, showing an overwhelming interest in the topic.
"I mean..." He started, reflecting about the thought, admitting it may be a little naive. "I know it's a big place so, I suppose there are not many chances you have found him, right?"A melancholic giggle escaped the chef. "Sir... this Bastian is your friend, right?" Katherine asked the cook, only for Jazz to speak right after, before he had a chance to reply. "I still need to know what's the Dark Area!"
"Oh. That's right, I apologize." The Veedramon quickly said, before start explaining. "The Dark Area is a sort of continent outside the main landscape of the Digital World. It's a gloomy, murky and hostile place where raw evil can be felt around every corner. I haven't been in there myself, so I'm sure Misu can give you a better explanation about the place; since they seem to be actually working on something there." Paul turned towards Anzu and Akemi.
"That explains why Jazz and I didn't find any zone like that during our travels through the Digital World." Katherine was very much aware she still had a lot of places to visit inside that land, and finding out about others more was somewhat exciting for her. "So Bastian is inside that place, cook?" Jazz asked, her glance shifting back at Paul. "Yes." The dragon nodded. "As you said before, Bastian is my best friend. After leaving Rustport, he and I traveled to Terminus, looking to expand our businesses. There, we came to know of an organization, known as the Dark Army."
"The Dark Army!?" Again, Jazz and Katherine issued at the same time.

Akemi had begun to eat her empanada while Anzu scarfed hers down like a wolf. There was...some irony there. Possibly. But she was enjoying herself before Kath had asked about the Dark Area. Might as well try to explain, right?
"It's...Okay, so...you know hell, right? It's basically the Digital World equivalent to that. It's...creepy. Dark, spooky. And the worst part is that there's people that live there and the like." She glanced towards Paul, before she tilted her head. "While we -have- been in there...We...haven't met anyone by that name who was also a Ballistamon."
The girl was very thankful that Paul took over the explanation for her. She was...really bad with those. "Dark...Army?" She found herself repeating along with Katherine and Jazz. Anzu looked a bit...well.
Lost.
"The heck's a Dark Army? I mean, I know what a regular army is but what makes this one dark? That's what's confusing me. What's getting my jimmies tied up." Akemi decided to use the bean talking as a smokescreen to eat her empanada. Meanwhile, Anzu continued. "Well, Akemi's trying to help a friend of hers build a city there to make it a bit of a better place. Bit of a rough draft. Uh...Truth be told, I hail from there. At least I think I do. It's all that I remember, but I don't remember any Dark Army or anyone named Bastian."

The conversation had definitely acquired a much more serious tone. While the delicious food made it hard to feel preoccupied or have some sort of ill feeling towards anything, the truth was that the topic had changed into a duller one. The explanations provided by both Paul and Akemi had given the duo a full concept of what this place represented. "H-Hell?" Of course, Amaya's explanation had been a little scarier. "That is awful. Is there some way of helping those digimon living in there?" The green-eyed teenager asked, blinking. "That's exactly what Bastian is trying to do." Paul immediately explained. " Yes, I figured there was no way you would have seen him in such a vast place. I can only wonder in which zone of the Dark Area he is, now.""Bastian is trying to help people in the Dark Area?" Jazz asked as she finished the last portion of her second empanada. "How?" Lowering his gaze, Paul continued. "Sadly, I have no clue. I just know he is in there, somewhere."A friend of her building up a city. Why did this sound oddly familiar for Katherine? With so many things going on at the moment, she couldn't quite place it. "I don't actually know if the Dark Army comes from the Dark Area." Jazz placed her index finger in her lower lip. "But I know their main headquarters are in Terminus. Some Valkyrimon named Luke, a member of the Dark Army, has been giving Kath and I some trouble for a while."It was not necessary to dwell further into this matter for Katherine to reach a conclusion. With the information given to them, connecting the dots was not too hard. "Paul..." The girl started. The Veedramon glanced at her like he knew what was coming. "The digimon who came looking for food... Was actually a member of the Dark Army, wasn't it?"Jazz's eyes widened at the girl's accusation. "Hey, Kath, we..." Interrupted mid-sentence by the dragon, the bunny just remained silent while he spoke. "No, Misu is right." It was time for some answers, no doubt. "Listen, Mr. Paul..." Katherine started, staring at the cook with a cold glance. "Jazz and I are going through a lot right now. If you have any connection to the Dark Army, we would really appreciate if you could tell us." She then made a brief silence to gather the rest of her thoughts, trying to take a more convincing approach. "We all can help you to find Bastian. But we need to know the full story."
Paul sighed, as he poured some tea in four different cups, handing one to each girl and digimon. "I guess there's not helping it, huh? Here it goes..."
Paul and Bastian. A friendship that transcends dimensions.
Bastian and I met in Rustport. I can't even remember how long ago, but I was only a Veemon. He came from the Dark Area, looking for a place to stay, but also with the recurring dream of coming back with everything he had learned from the outer world and help the digimon inside of that place. I had found my vocation already, I wanted to be a chef, the best in all Rustport. He had never cooked, so I suggested we started a restaurant. I was supposed to do the cooking and he was supposed to be in charge of the cleaning, maintenance and what not. Not much time happened until I discovered he really had a talent for cooking too. We decided to go into the desert, right in the middle, so we could take food to digimon from all over the Western Flatlands, no distinction.
We then moved into Terminus, as you said, looking to expand our businesses. We rented some old place in the low ends and started cleaning and decorating to start a restaurant. There, we were visited by that Valkyrimon you just mentioned, Luke. He asked to try some of our food and, after doing so, he offered us a spot as the official cooks for the Dark Army, an organization that was starting to rise in the low ends of Terminus. I wanted to take the opportunity, I saw it as a chance for us to grow but... Bastian didn't trust them. He considered it was highly likely they were involved in some sort of illicit businesses.
I am ashamed to even admit such a difference of opinions made us argue. At first, I thought it was just some regular fight but, apparently, Bastian had been keeping to himself what he wanted to do all of this time, and it all just... came out that day. His original plan was to go back to the Dark Area to help his people, and I had been dragging him around. He said some awful things and I did too, and that day... we split.
The rest is not so hard to tell. I took that deal with the Dark Army and cooked for them for a long time. During that time, I discovered Bastian was right; this digimon were criminals. They then told me they wanted to keep expanding their horizons and that they had found a way of reaching another dimension, through some artifact known as a Zoid Gem. They wanted to see how this gem worked, and since I had always wanted to take food to everyone in the Digital World and outside of it, I thought that might help me forget about the whole Bastian's matter for good, and also stay away from this criminal organization. I arrived into this world, as a holosuited human, and started this restaurant with a lot of hard work.
Some time passed, and... if I'm honest, I haven't forgotten about my friend and how things ended up between us. I hadn't been contacted for the Dark Army in all of this time, until... two days ago. A member of the Dark Army appeared here, in my restaurant. It was a Gazimon named Dash.
This Digimon came asking for food, arguing they had a couple of allies inside of this world that needed to regain strength. He also told me that they were gathering information about some girl who lived in Shibuya and who had a Lopmon for a partner, even though they weren't sure if he was inside this world or the Digital World. I told him I didn't know anything about her, and that we would have to give me at least two days to complete that order, since it was a lot of food. Dash took some of the food he needed that day, and came back yesterday during the night to collect the rest.
Before giving the food to him, I asked if they knew anything about Bastian, their whereabouts or anything like that. At first, he didn't want to tell me, but I managed to make him. Dash said that not long after I left the Digital World, Bastian had broken in the Dark Army headquarters and had stolen something extremely important from the Dark Soldier, the leader of this army. They are still looking for him until this day. Of course, he asked me if I knew where he could be, but I said I had no clue.
I am sure Bastian is in the Dark Area, that's the only place I know he would want to go to in a situation like this! I need to find him, to help him face off against this danger! I need to apologize and tell him how sorry I am for having gone through with this partnership and ignore his wishes, I need to help him!
But... as some sort of member of the Dark Army I am, I am sure they will be watching me at any time if I decide to go back to the Digital World. So I can't go looking for him, or they will just find us and kill us both. That's how I ended up trapped inside this world, without my friend, without my dream, without... Anything left.
Boy, talk about bringing the mood down. It was a story that not only Paul seemed like he needed to tell, but that had given a lot of information to Katherine and Jazz. Still, this didn't change it was a sad tale.
Even though uncouth, the logical question came to Katherine's head: Could they trust this Veedramon? Giving the information he had eased to them, it didn't seem like he wanted to betray them. Paul's eyes actually seemed filled with regret. Of course, Akemi and Anzu didn't seem to be alien to this, after all, they were involved in some sort of movement to help the Dark Area, didn't they? It was extremely likely they could bump into Bastian at some point.
-So I assume as soon as you saw Jazz, you realized that girl the Dark Army is looking for is... me. -Katherine's countenance was dead serious. -Yes. -Still looking sort of melancholic, the cook replied. -But I have no interest in helping the Dark Army anymore. I know they are criminals. I just want to protect my friend, Misu. -Protect Bastian... -Jazz muttered, pondering about the matter. -The Dark Army is chasing after him because he stole something, right? Did you ask this Dash what did he steal?
-Yes. I don't know why, but it seems to be something of much importance to the Dark Soldier. -Paul nodded, answering Jazz's inquiry. -I engraved that name in my memory since I knew it could come useful. Apparently, Bastian stole some map that led to an ancient place, extremely important for the Dark Army's objectives. The map to a place called... the Drum Sanctuary.

"Maybe one of them hailed from there." Anzu suggested, "And maybe they decided to name it that because of him. But...that's just my thoughts on it. Anyways, that sounds like what Akemi's friend is trying to do. 'tis a very noble endeavor, attempting to help that which is innately backbreaking to help. However, rather than help people within an army, it's, as I said...a city-building project." The bean seemed happy with her explanation.
Afterwards, the two remained respectfully silent for Paul's explanation about the Dark Army, Bastian's connection to it, and everything. This confirmed to Anzu that she had no recollection or knowledge of any of these individuals. Okay. "...If you'd like, Anzu and I could search the area for him. People are looking for you two and Paul would be watched if he went back." The girl began. "It also goes without saying that...If either of you ever need any help, you can come to me and I'll do everything I can to lend a hand. Anzu would, too. Right?"
The bean blinked. "H-Huh? Uh..." She glanced around. Akemi seemed pretty expectant of something... "...Y-Yeah, sure." Was she spacing out or something? Huh.

Surprises kept coming.
"The Drum Sanctuary!?" Jazz gagged on her tea, completely astonished. It wasn't hard to tell she and Katherine looked startled at the reveal. The amount of information that coming to this restaurant had brought to them, was impossible to measure. Paul blinked, denoting he clearly didn't know of this location they seemed so shocked about hearing. "Do you know that place, Misu?" "We... kind of do. Even though we have never been there." Katherine lowered her gaze, her mind trying to process everything going through her head.
While this happened, she just stared at Akemi. While she spoke, Katherine's green eyes started to tear up a little. It could be that everything going on was finally getting to her. So many things happening at once, so many objectives to achieve were starting to scare her. But to feel she was not alone, to feel that someone she had just met as Akemi Amaya was willing to help them... that felt nice, no doubt. "Akemi..." Katherine muttered, just staring at her, touched by the whole scene. Jazz was not alien to this feeling either, she felt moved by the duo's genuine disposition to help them in this.
A very quick gaze was exchanged between the girl and the bunny, looking for approval to go on with this. The truth was that both Akemi and Anzu, as well as Paul, deserved to know everything about their journey so far. It was only fair, after providing information and showing their support. Plus, how could they even help if they didn't know what was going on?
It took them a while, even sunset had begun when they finished, but Jazz and Katherine explained everything to Akemi, Anzu, and Paul. About the Zoid Gems, about the Drum Sanctuary, about their adventures so far, and even about Void and him wandering freely around the Human World. Once they finished with the story, Katherine lowered her gaze, still facing Akemi, playing with her curls nervously. "So... what do you think?" She asked. It was only logical part of these sounded crazy. But in all honesty, wasn't what they were living pretty unearthly already? So she figured Akemi would believe her anyway.
"That's... amazing, Misu." Paul's eyes remained wide open, after hearing the whole story. "You have come through so much, fighting those powerful digimon." The teenager opened her bag to show the gems he had gathered so far to the group, as a testament to her story.
"That's why we need that map your friend Bastian has, cook." Jazz's gaze was as firm as it could get. "It is not something we can simply skip in our trip. It's crucial to get to the Drum Sanctuary." As a matter of fact, this was the first time they had a lead on what could lead them to that mythic place.
"But as we find Bastian the Ballistamon, we are not only going to ask him for that map he stole. We are also going to protect him from the Dark Army." Katherine added to her partner's words. "So don't worry, Mr. Paul. I promise we will give our all to find Bastian and take care of him. Isn't that right, Ama-I mean, Akemi!, Anzu?" She finished her sentence by turning at her two new acquaintances.
The Veedramon's eyes lightened to these words, a wide smile forming upon his face. "Y-You will!?" The chef began doing some sort of dance, where he stomped on the ground, moving his hands in the air happily. He then stopped promptly, like he realized something. "In that case... You are going to need a lot of energy. I will prepare lots of food for you!" The Veedramon immediately put some more frying pans over the stove and started preparing more food for them. Katherine just giggled at the sight, to then take her attention back at the hatted teenager.
"I'm sorry, but I can't let you do that search alone, Akemi." Katherine said, showing a soft smirk to her peer. "I also think that your cause is noble, and I am eager to know the Dark Area. So I would like to know, how can I contact this friend of yours who is in charge of the building of this city? I might end up helping you while I look for Bastian, too."

Akemi wasn't expecting to drive someone to tears by doing what she thought was correct today, in all honesty. But, she looked resolute. Like she was goddamn serious. And she paid attention to the tale that Katherine had recounted. So did Anzu. Akemi paid a slight bit more, though. She wasn't expecting Anzu to have the mental capacity to recall all of this. "...You've been through a lot." She admitted.
That was way more than she had gone through in a few months. "As to what I think...Interesting. Reminds me of a gem I possess with dubious origins related to Terabyte Mountain...I do believe you." She didn't have much reason not to. Anzu was silent for a time before she spoke once more. "...I bet this Dark Army isn't even dark. Scrubnuggets like that..." She trailed off, staring towards the food. Almost longingly.
Akemi turned to Kath and nodded. "I can give her number, she's a frenchwoman who's quite kind. Her name's Amelie Saboro. Anzu's really fond of her for some reason. Also...I don't mind company on the search. We'll have plenty of it." Yes, a plan was...formulating. Somewhat.

Rubbing her eyes with both hands, Katherine made the small traces of tears that had appeared go away. "Y-You have a gem?" The teenager believed to know the current location of all the gems. Inside her bag, three gems were resting: The Ochre Zoid Gem, the Lazuli Zoid Gem, and the Pearl Zoid Gem. The Dark Soldier had the Saffron Zoid Gem, so that meant the gem that Void had was the Erin Zoid Gem. Nevertheless, given the huge amount of information she was oblivious to until now (and the information that she still probably unknew), she couldn't really afford to take anything for granted. "Could I see it? I believe I know where the two Zoid Gems that I don't have are, but..." Her right hand on her cheek, the girl's mouth wrinkled. "I would like to make sure."
Still visibly excited to know the girls were going to help him to find his friend, Paul decided to clarify something. "Even when I do want you to find Bastian, Misu, I would like you all to be extremely careful, okay? Do not put yourself in danger to complete this mission. I wouldn't forgive myself if anything happened to you." The Veedramon showed a reflexive countenance. "Do not worry about us, cook. We'll find Bastian." Jazz's resolve was clear. "I believe one of the soldiers of the Dark Army who is currently inside this world according to what that Gazimon said, could be Void. So finding him and getting the gem is still our top priority. Once that is done, we will head back into the Digital World, and look for Bastian, before heading to Terminus to get the last Zoid Gem from the Dark Soldier." "By any chance, that Dash didn't give you any more valuable information that you can share with us, right, Mr. Paul?" Katherine asked, taking a shot. "I'm sorry, Misu, but not that I can remember. In case they come back, we should have each other on our D-Terminals, so I can let you know." Paul suggested. If Akemi and Anzu agreed, they would all exchange their contact info, so they could reach each other at any time, in case more information came to light.
Once that was done, and whoever was still hungry could eat some delicious ramen Paul had cooked for the group, the sun was about to set, and probably it was time to go back home. The inquiry about the friend Akemi was helping took place then, and with it, one last revelation to end this very full-of-surprises day. Katherine's eyes widened upon hearing the name of her best (and first) human friend. This couldn't be a coincidence. The world had proven to be maybe a bit too small once again.
"SHISEI!?" Jazz asked, loudly. Being that the name the bunny used to refer to Amelie. "I can't believe it..." Barely able to mutter, Katherine just stared at Akemi. She then slowly recovered words, to speak again. "I know... Amy. I met her inside the Digital World." She was still kind of startled at the revelation. "B-But I don't have her phone number. Even though I can probably reach her through my D-Terminal, I think it couldn't hurt to have it." The girl immediately clarified.
Once that was done with, Katherine considered more than fit to explain her further plans to Akemi. "I still need to find Void. I will try to get in touch with Amy soon, to speak with her about this project." It was easier said than done, but... "I think the next time we see each other, Akemi, I will be helping you two with this project, and we can look for Bastian inside the Dark Area together." A firm smirk took over Katherine's expression, mixed with a determined gaze affix on her peer.

"I do. It's not a Zoid Gem but it's...likely steeped in as much legend as they are." Akemi nodded, procuring the yellow fist-sized gem from her bag. Yes, she had one. This whole time. It was very inconspicuous. "Like I said, dubious origins pertaining to Terabyte Mountain. Something I'd want to research further when I have the time."
Neither Kemi or Anzu were opposed to sharing their contact information for their D-Terminals with everyone present. Anzu in particular seemed happy because she had more people to talk to. More to fill the void that was her social life with. Speaking of... "...I'll keep them safe. I..." This was going to be painful to say. "I promise." Oh god, it hurts.
Akemi, for once, actually looked shocked at something, especially the duo's reaction. Huh, they also knew Amelie? "Well...That's a surprise. I met her in the Digital World too. At the Dark Area. Anzu got her Digimental that day. And some...followers." That's putting it lightly. "And yes, I look forward to working with you." Assumedly, Akemi gave Kath the details that were requested.
