MPC#56X: -> Saving Private Frimon (MPC#42) # of MPCs Taken This Month: 1
It was a dark, cloudy night as the echoes of warfare tore through the Server Woods like a police siren disturbing the serenity of a village commune. Among the faint rainfall that collided with the leaves and branches of the dense, local flora, blinding flashes of powerful abilities disrupted the often idyllic glades and landscapes. Cion did not know why it had come to this conflict, but it was obvious who were the perpetrators and who the defenders. Besides, this endeavor had gotten personal due to her fearing the loss of a treasured friend. While not expecting her comrades to have met Toki previously, he was nonetheless an essential part of this world's stability. Every vanguard of good needed a helping hand eventually, The silver fennec, leader of ASCENSION, was proud to grant it. Furthermore, though risky, their assignment was profitable and would increase their project's reputation. Naturally, that meant more opposers, but that was something she expected anyway. Most savages did not appreciate aspects such as civilization, prosperity and progress. Hiding in the wet shrubbery that was covered by the shadows of massive trees, she scouted the nearby, hostile bunker for targets. If she, Leith, Kazuya and their partners wished to save the captive lad, they had to get as close to the outpost as possible, lest a potential execution or abduction happened. They were a mighty group, but tonight they had to be skillful and swift. No mistakes, no hesitation. Calmly, her aureate eyes shifted to her allies, making sure they were ready before they continued their stealthy march. "Go?" [Words: 261 / 261]

"Give us a sec." Rightfully, Leith spoke nice and lowly, not in a whisper but at a low pitch and volume. He'd read that was a much better way to reduce the chances of being heard by reducing the sound of consonants and breath exhalation, and in practice it seemed to work for him whenever he wanted to talk in class. The 19-year-old had dressed appropriately for the mission, specifically in the camouflage jacket and pants of a hobby hunter even if he himself would never participate in that activity. Of course he'd signed on to help when he heard Toki was in danger. What choice did he have? This time he couldn't live with himself if he had let it be someone else's problem. "Comms on," Leith declared as he activated his digivce's human-digimon comm. "Check." Veemon and Shoutmon both flashed OK hand signs, signaling they could hear their Tamer.
"Check," the three-and-a-half foot Veemon repeated, getting the same signal from his teammates.
"Check." Standing at the same height as Veemon, what made Shoutmon different from many of his kind was that he was made of flesh and scale, not bolts and metal.
"Analog jammer's on. Can you guys sense me?"
"No."
"Nope."
"Then maybe this thing wasn't a waste of bits after all." Leith thought of anything else he could need then and came up empty. "We're good to go. Kazuya? Royland?"

was surprised when Cion called, she needed help to rescue one of her friends named Toki, neither Roy nor Kazuya knew about Toki and frankly Roy did not need to know him. He was simply a person who needed his help and he was willing help, and Kazuya was mildly hesitant but he managed to find the courage to go and help his team.
When the time came to start the rescue operation, both Kazuya and Roy were ready and focused on their mission, the dark cloudy night failed to burden their hearts and minds of the two men. They were determined to see this mission through, with the help of Cion, Leith, Shoutmon and Veemon. The two looked at eachother when Leith checked the comms, they honestly forgot about it and were grateful that Leith made them remember.
The two then tested the comms and were all set, gave each other a confident nod. Roy and Kazuya turned towards the rest of the team "We are ready, Let's go." The man uttered with a fearsome determination and equipped with an unshakeable will Kazuya and Roy were ready to head to the depths of the forest and save Cion's friend Toki.

Communication devices and analog jammers - the essential equipment for their stealthy raiding party. Naturally, everyone knew to bring with them their best tools, and neither Leith, Kazuya nor their partners disappointed. Cion's most valuable asset tonight however was not an item, but a chummy companion she held close to her heart. Thankfully, she did not have to worry about this person for he was flying several thousand meters above the surface of the digital world. With his scanners, the sentient jet would provide her invaluable intel from a safe distance.
"Then cover me." She ordered in hushed whispers, slowly creeping through the large foliage of dark forests. The dim lights of the concrete bunker, their destination, were already visible from afar, but it still took them a couple of minutes of slow, cautious movement to maneuver past the wet shrubbery and soft soil. It was an uncomfortable experience, especially for a fine lady like the silver fennec who typically bore no clothes except her brother's short, screen scarf. Hopefully, her companions were less sensitive towards getting their hands dirty - literally and figuratively.
Eventually, they reached what appeared to be an open glade that was located between them and the target building. Dirt tracks, crates and small rain shields littered the place, confirming the suspicion that this was indeed a hidden supply depot. This knowledge had its ups and downs. On one hand, that meant they were relatively far away from any actual warfare, despite the ear-deafening bursts that shook leaves and branches alike. On the other... a permanently active patrol was to be expected.
Seeing nothing at first, the restrained Arniomon motioned her allies to follow. Quickly she hasted over to a big. transport container. Noticing the sudden appearance of a few flashlights mounted on barely visible weaponry, she gestured her comrades to keep a low profile. Hostile of an unknown level approximately the size of a typical Rookie or tiny Champion. "My plan... wait for a loud noise, then attack. I snare them, you neutralize. Any objections or other ideas?" She quietly instructed and asked. The faster they agreed the better.

The young man couldn't help but scoff at Cion issuing orders. "Pff. 'Cover me,'" he mocked while looking at Kazuya and Royland. Nevertheless he and his digimon rightly followed Cion. "Cion's got the front. Vee, watch left. Shout, right. You two, watch six." How did Leith get so adept at giving such orders on the fly? It certainly didn't come from practical experience, but SOCOM: US Navy SEALS was a series of video games meant to simulate a squad of SEALS on a stealth mission to whom the player could give fairly specific orders.
Maybe this was Cion's operation, but the young man would step up and try to lead as he could whenever he saw the chance, given that his companions went along with it.
Leith made sure to keep a nice two dozen feet of space between himself and Cion, having learned from the same game that individuals are harder to spot than a cluster. For the same reason Veemon and Shoutmon followed equidistant behind their Tamer but spread out to Leith's four and eight o' clocks. Only when Cion took cover did the trio close in to join her, as they could tell from body language alone she was about to give commands. They were right. "Heh... so you're making the plans this time, eh? Alright. We got this."
"Time to digivolve?"
"You two aren't exactly subtle with the giant-fucking-dragon thing you got goin' on. Wait until Cion traps the target, and then digivolve as necessary."
"Got it."
"Have I mentioned I really hate dangerous rescue missions? Because I do.

was slightly annoyed at the weather and location, for someone who has so much pride in his appearance like Kazuya this would prove to be annoying. But it was for a really good cause, and one shower will do the trick once Kazuya is back home.
But both Kazuya and Royland had a confused expression when Leith mocked Cion for leading, the two would then exchange glances before turning back towards Leith.
"Uh Leith, you do know that Cion is the leader of the expedition right ? For one she has the most experience among us, and she knows this Toki the most. So she is the leader for this mission, if we are clear on that then we can all operate smoothly." Roy said as he did not want Leith to fight for leadership with Cion, as he thought that will only complicate the mission.
The two then followed Cion and Leith, "Don't worry we will watch your rears...I already know that my phrasing was not great, can we not discuss it." Kazuya said as he scratched the right side of his head. The group then followed suit till they reached their destination, once there Roy and Kazuya agreed to Cion's plan.
"Okay, you go ahead we will cover you. Once its time for me to go I will digivolve. Just give me a signal." With Roy was on stand by ready to move at Cion's signal.
"Its okay Leith, nothing bad will happen if we stick together." Kazuya said with a confident smirk.

Rolling her aureate eyes, Cion was more amused than frustrated by the argument between Leith, Kazuya and their partners caused by the former's quaint bickering. Thankfully, the fact that most appeared to ignore his orders should have given him the obvious flag that he simply did not receive what he demanded. The restrained Arniomon was inherently democratic, but tonight they were here to save a dear friend of her and advance the cause of ASCENSION. Whatever personal issues anyone had was irrelevant. The only thing that mattered was to improve the future by any means; ergo a rescue and payment.
Unyieldingly sticking to her approach, the group eventually found itself leaning against a large transport container. Observing a patrol's movement and suggesting a plan, it seemed that everyone finally acted in concert. Nodding affirmatively, the silver fennec waited for the perfect moment as the light of flashlights came closer. In the end, the white noise of warfare was quaked by the sounds of distant explosions, impacts and thunders. Just as glaring flashes tainted the black sky, Cion leapt out of her cover. "Now! Natural Law Break!"
With these commands uttered, all it needed was a snap of her fingers to conjure a ginormous singularity around the soldier-digimons of various levels and species. Keeping them motionlessly stuck in the air, she pushed them together so that her partner could quickly dispatch them in the few seconds the booming rattle of far away destruction lasted - covering their presence. Brutal, but efficient and necessary. Besides, they were the bad guys, so the common rule of do as you would be done by applied.

Well, give the angsty Tamer this much credit: no matter whether he fancied himself the squad leader, he and his team operated with smooth efficiency, at least with each other. "I know who's leading, Kaz," Leith had tried to mumble earlier without Cion catching, "I also know I didn't have to be told to cover anyone; that should already be understood."
Oh, well. In the face of danger, Leith had more important things on his mind than a power struggle. "Go."
As Veemon and Shoutmon rounded the corner, they were able to see just how many digimon and their levels, which meant they thought they knew exactly how much destructive power they would need to eliminate them all at once. The problem was that the power necessary seemed like a lot given the level variety, and there was only time to digivolve so far while still having time to attack. Simultaneously, each of the digimon declared, "Veemon-"
"Shoutmon-"
"-digivolve to..."
Veemon underwent rapid growth on the spot. When he finally stopped he was over ten feet tall, but on his way up wings grew out of his back, his horn elongated, and all his muscles became much larger before all of it was punctuated by a black X burning itself into his torso. "...ExVeemon!"
At the same time, Shoutmon underwent a very similar process. He stood about the same height as ExVeemon by its end, but he was just as winged as his twin. A white armored mask formed out of thin air over his face, while his two face spikes elongated, got rougher, and turned dark black. "...Sonoramon!"
Champion form would have to do; any longer, and the pair wouldn't get their chance to attack. Sonoramon had to take to the air to get his attack out, but hopefully his dark colors under cover of night wouldn't be too noticeable. At least he didn't spend long up there; all he needed was a chance to dive and built momentum before darting toward the cluster of digimon straight-on, head down so the contact points with the cluster would be his horn and the spear on his back. "Spear Run!"
But Sonoramon's specialty was tricks and debilitation. The digimon with true destructive power was the blue dragon. "Wind Scythe!" ExVeemon, unlike his partner, kept his feat planted firmly on the ground. Whole Sonoramon was gathering momentum for his run, the blue dragon was using his wings to stir up a great big wind. His intent was to thin the herd by using this wind to blow some of the smaller digimon so far away that by the time they returned to this location the team would be long gone. This additionally made less targets, more focus for Sonoramon's run. For the larger digimon who couldn't be blown away so easily, their bodies would likely be scratched and battered by dust, rocks, and other spare debris the wind managed to blow at them.
Sonoramon attempted his attack right after that, but ExVeemon wasn't done. He knew it was too important to wipe every digimon out, or at least come close to it as possible, while he could. So, rather than wait for the battered enemies to ready a counterattack, ExVeemon went ahead and crossed his arms over his chest in an X shape for a second attack. Anyone remotely familiar with this digimon species had to recognize the stance immediately. "Vee-Laser!" ExVeemon uncrossed his arms to let an X-shaped beam or energy fly toward the cluster, hopefully aimed to strike as many of them as possible. Veemon digigolved one stage to champion ExVeemon.Shoutmon digivolved one stage to champion Sonoramon. ExVeemon used Rash to enable two actions this post. -Rash did not consume an action. ExVeemon attacked the digimon held in place with Wind Scythe. Sonoramon attacked the digimon held in place with Spear Run. ExVeemon attacked the digimon held in place with Vee-Laser.
Rash: This digimon forgoes evasion for attack power, allowing him to strike twice in one post with a 25% damage boost for each of the two strikes with a different named ability from this one. If the target attacks this digimon in its next post, this digimon cannot block or evade it. Rash does not count as this digimon's one action for the post. Coooldown: 4 posts.
Wind Scythe: Creates a strong wind using his wings, blowing smaller enemies away entirely or slowing enemies similar in size or larger and hurting them with the small debris picked up by the wind slicing past them
Spear Run: This digimon attempts to ram the target with the spike on his back and stab them to deal damage.
Vee-Laser: Emits an energy wave from the "X" pattern on its chest.
Rash must cool down: 4 posts remaining.

Kazuya simply shrugged at Leith's statement, right now what Leith felt was not of major importance to him. He simply desired for everyone to work well together so that they can all simply get back home alive with Toki with them, so a hierarchy of decision making so this can be done as quickly as possible. "Ok ok, fair enough I guess thats fine. As long we all know that at the end we are all teammates Leith. So we should have each other's back anyways." Kazuya said in a nonchalant way, Kazuya can be a passionate man but today was not the day for his passion to show, as honestly the lack of a previously established connection with Toki made it hard for him to really care.
That was not the case for Royland, as he honestly wanted to save this Toki from the bottom of his heart, this sense of empathy for those who are mere strangers to him is the same quality that made him a loved leader in his previous life. "Alright, lets do this. In our unity we will find the road to victory, so lets think more like a strong unit and less like separate individuals. " Royland said as he intended to cheer on his teammates, lifting their spirits as they get ready for the upcoming battle.
Both Kazuya and Roy waited with baited breath for Cion to give them the signal, time moved slowly for the duo as the beat of their hearts was for a moment the dominant sound in the area for a while. The sound of their heartbeats was cut when Cion issued her command, "Royland evolve." Kazuya said as he took his digivice, and Roy had a ball of light covering him.
"Roy evolve to-"
And in an instant the tiny lion was replaced by a giant humanoid knight with a light blue armor and a lion motif. He wielded a mighty weapon and brave heart.
"ClearLöwemon" Clearlöwemon Roy then proceeded to beat up some soldier digimon with finesse and power, he used his weapon as a mace. He continued to dispatch soldiers, with the element of surprise and speed both on side, Royland managed to dispatch enemy digimon with grace and style.
Kazuya stood back as he witnessed the battle unfold, after evolving Roy his functions is now limited to being just a pair of extra eyes. So he scouted the area for anything unusual to tell the rest of the team.

Rolling her eyes, Cion tried to mostly block out the tense banter between her allies. This was their first mission, many of them were rather young and a true bond of companionship and common aspirations still had to forged. She understood and accepted the clashing personalities, regarding it as a sometimes annoying yet vital part of their quest of progress. In the end, despite differences, everyone present was capable of working together in well-nigh unison. They had successfully managed to sneak up on the sizable bunker complex, and their combined assault was quite effective, though not entirely favorable.
While indeed the ExVeemon, Sonoramon and ClearLöwemon imposed great damage, it was not as fast and all-encompassing as hoped. The few seconds she was able to stun the patrol were not utilized to its fullest. Roy's approach through melee combat did require a moment to commence, and the blue dragon's wind scythe tossed a couple of minor minions away into the distance. Certainly the latter bought them some time, but it was far less effectual than unadulterated defragmentation. At least the sounds of distant warfare covered their ambush.
"Star Dust Surge." She whispered as suddenly, dozens of aureate downs rapidly dashed throughout the area, cleaving the remnants of the digimons they had dispatched. As quickly as them and their noise of whizzing came the faded, leaving the sextet by themselves. Ignoring the lingering bits of data dispersing like faint dust, she hasted over to one of the concrete building's hollow windows. "Slow stealth is no longer an option. Double time, people." The restrained Arniomon calmly alerted her companions as she leapt inside the small fortress.
-----------------------------------
Regardless of the rainfall outside, it was quite dry and warm within the barely furnished, large office. A table, a few simple chairs and cupboards. Nonetheless, perhaps there was valuable intel to be found here - meaning a map or orders. "Can you search for a plant layout?" Cion asked the others as she walked towards the only door that led out of this room. Cautiously, she observed the hallways for incoming foemen. They likely had a period of a minute or two to examine the documents that could be discovered here.

Well what was the point of all the sneaking and subterfuge if she was just gonna blow 'em all away anyway? Leith couldn't be quite sure what else Cion had expected from the group. After all, attempts to digivolve to more destructive forms wouldn't have left the time for any attack at all. "Real subtle, Cion. Well, that didn't work," Leith mumbled to himself before relaying Cion's orders to his digimon companions. "Devolve and slip inside! You're too big to get through that window." Sonoramon and ExVeemon both devolved down to Veemon and Shoutmon on Leith's command and followed him as he vaulted through the window. "Shout, watch duty. Vee, look around."
"You got it."
"I'll help!" Shoutmon watched out that window for approaching threats while Leith and Shoutmon started to rummage around the room. Leith checked inside one cupboard while Veemon dug through another, but it seemed there were still more to deal with and some limited time. "Royland, Kazuya, would you help us, too?" Veemon asked the pair with a lot more respect than his Tamer had been treating people with. Word count: 183

While both Kazuya and Royland were at shock and awe regarding Cion's strength, they question her decision. But both of them knew that arguing over what had already happened mid mission is ultimately a fruitless endeavour, so they decided to do the best thing possible, improvise and adapt to the situation. Once it was time to go, Royland cleared a path not only for himself but for Kazuya to rush in and join his comrades. It was a dangerous moment, but Roy made sure that Kazuya was safe and soon after he digivolved and followed everyone inside.
Once inside, Kazuya saw Leith competently command his unit. And he was pleasantly surprised, even though Leith needs to get better at working under others who are higher than him in the chain of the command, it was good to know that if Leith is given a unit in the future the team could expect him to be a competent leader. But its time to focus on the now, Kazuya heard the order Cion gave, search for the documents. "Roger, lets split up and search for it Roy." Kazuya soon before he was approached by Veemon, he seemed much nicer than Leith. This made Royland smile.
"Yes, let us go look for it Veemon." Royland said before he, Veemon and Kazuya started to look around. Hopefully there search won't be for long, as it was only a matter of time before the enemy ambush them, and Kazuya knew this. And this made Kazuya be more nervous than he needed to be, Roy on the other hand was as cool as a cucumber. He knew that it was only a matter of time for their victory, for they fought for justice! And Justice will always prevail.

Though composed on the outside, it was difficult for Cion not to raise an eyebrow. How was it possibly her fault that her plan had not succeeded? She had locked the patrol in place, keeping them helpless and ready to be reaped by her comrades. Their utilization of counterproductive attacks led to some survivors scattered into the dark forest, leaving their time window to successfully rescue Toki limited. Alas... there was no point arguing about it. Internal discord was the last thing she as a leader had to perpetuate. Instead she nodded, acknowledging her partners feedback and remembering it to be utilized in the future.
With everyone inside the bunker, she and the unnamed Shoutmon assumed watch duty as instructed. Thankfully, despite the previous setback, cooperation remained at the forefront of her allies and friends' mind. Eventually, their patience and efforts were rewarded, revealing a structural design within a closet that the Veemon and Royland found. It was a hard to comprehend blueprint, but ultimately the layout of this hidden fortress became clear. Most importantly, they learned that to reach the prison cells, they had to follow a specific path and descend into the subfont.
Taking a peak out of the door, neither visibility nor audibility of enemies was present. For the moment, they were alone and safe, but the minutes they had to free Toki before an alarm got rung were few. With the arrangement of this concrete base burned into her memory, she motioned everybody to quickly yet quietly mimic her steps. Corridors and staircases were traversed, dark clamminess perpetually lingering everywhere.
Sooner than later, the flashlights of another group of hostiles became visible, steadily approaching them but unable to see them just yet. Hastily leaping into an unilluminated corner, hoping that others followed suit, she looked at them with her aureate eyes. Risk being discovered and remain - or ambush and guarantee a surprise attack that would certainly cause the bunker to enter an alarm condition. They were close to the prison, hence both approaches had their clear advantages and disadvantages. "So... direct or covert?"

"We got it!" Veemon exclaimed proudly as he and Roy located the floor plan.
"Nice, show us." Veemon Shoutmon hopped off the windowsill to join the rest of the group in studying the floor plan... which was complete gibberish for the most part. At least there were only three necessary elements for this team's sake, which Shoutmon was surprisingly able to distinguish.
"Us," he marked with one finger, "Prison," with another, followed by tracing the most direct path. "How we get there."
"You can read this crap?"
"It's got pictures, don't it?"
Too bad there was no time for Leith or Veemon to argue the lack of logic in that. Then again, Leith wondered if reading tech blueprints wasn't so different from reading this kind. That would have made sense. In either case, there wasn't much choice but to trust him given the time constraint, was there? That same time constraint was why Leith didn't have to think too hard about his thoughts. "Like you said, this isn't a stealth mission anymore. Let's drop 'em. Armor up, guys.... quietly."
Veemon and Shoutmon forewent the average grandiosity of digivolution through the use of armor evolution, which let them become armor ultimates Flamedramon and Salamandermon, the only higher forms suited for close quarters, without the usual laser light show. If he ended up being overruled, well, then they'd have the forms available for some other occasion and won't have to waste time digivolving later. Word count: 242

Kazuya waited for Royland and Veemon to find whatever they were looking for as he leaned on to the wall crossing his arms, he began to think about the variables presented to him in this mission, the number of allies present, the number of enemies and the terrain. He was deep in thought as he tried to formulate a plan that will lower their risks, this however made him not interact with his teammates for the time being, hopefully this intense thinking yields some result and creates a plan that will help everybody.
Royland was happy that he and Veemon found the blue print, he turned to his teammate with a big grin on his face. "Nice! We did it Veemon high-five!" Royland as he and Veemon high fived each other, Veemon then took the blueprint and showed it to Leith and Shoutmon. Then Shoutmon began to read it in a...lets say interesting way, but it seemed legit so there was no need to question his methods right now. "Alright, I am ready when you guys are." Royland was always willing to use his combat prowess to help others.
"Wait hold on one minute, we need a plan to get Toki as quickly as possible and I think I have one, based on the things I have seen I think Shoutmon is the one to extract Toki, since he can fly. Someone else covers him, the other act as our main force and distract our enemies. After both Toki and Shoutmon are clear we make our escape, no need to try do more than what we initially here for. What do you guys think ? Any objection or addition to my plan ?" Kazuya added.
