Wormy Presentation [Rose Town Job C] [Alan Pantell]

Research and Development... were those not two aspects that were a bit too advanced for a small village such as Rosewood? Cion was not complaining, quite the contrary, but it seemed somewhat odd and overzealous to her. From her point of view, establishing a solid foundation was far more important and necessary than aiming for the starts too early. Was that not the lesson the tale of Icarus told; not to mention the bane that was hubris? However, this was ultimately not upon her to decide. If this was the next facet this town's population sought to create then she gladly supported this ambition.
Unfortunately, the silver fennec was not really knowledgeable in the academic arts; both in theory in practice. Thankfully, that was where her cherished duo Alan and Levi came into play. Especially the former, a male human who had undergone an actual education inside several schools, was of great value to this undertaking. For what exactly? Simple - a presentation that involved a scientific experiment. To her delight, when they had skimmed multiple biology books, plenty of promising and testable theories were revealed to them. One of those was about agriculture, which appeared most useful to an evolving city.
It was within a dimly illuminated room of the local institute that the restrained Arniomon calmly and quietly inspected the four showcases that were meant to demonstrate the veracity of their test. The first pair had been prepared and thoroughly studied for weeks, while the others were there to depict the beginning of their attempts. To whom? Well the audience that patiently awaited the trio's performance of course! Merely a few minutes remained until the curtains would be drawn, but to the tiny fox everything was fine and functional - not that their experiment required copious amounts of easily destructible technology.
"No last moment stage-fright, boys?" Cion kindly and chummily asked her treasured friends. Naturally she understood and could relate to the notion of uncertainty, but she did not allow it to interfere with their work. That was precisely why everyone had their specific role. Due to her charisma, she would do the verbal part, whereas the comely lad and the coltish Veemon would perform the physical portion - inserting the invertebrates, removing the obscuring covers and so on. They were inherently easy tasks, and if they were able to properly reap an autumnal harvest then this was bound to be a piece of cake... right?

"No 'fright,' per se..." said Alan, sitting on a small chair backstage, slightly hunched over, and tapping his foot lightly and rapidly. "Just plain old nerves. Don't you worry, I won't mess up a thing, but... I've never presented anything but music or acting on a stage this big. The instructions are perfectly clear, though, and I'm good at following directions. Whew... this feels way too much like school did. I mean, it is school, but-"
The human was interrupted by his small draconic partner administering a massage to his shoulders. It was by no means done with professional technique, but the approximation felt nice regardless. Alan's body became far less tense. "So, you're completely prepared," suggested Levi, "but all you're missing is a relaxed demeanor?"
"I'd say that's about correct..." agreed Alan.
"You need me to go Flamedramon so I can help more easily? I'd take the sharp gauntlets off, of course."
"Thanks, but we should be fine as it is. Plus, I have zero idea if digivolving indoors is allowed. Do we even need someone taller, Cion, or are we good this way?"

Cion calmly nodded while listening to Alan, realizing that he was a bit on edge. However, as a successful performer and accomplished laborer, there was no doubt in her mind that the comely lad would not perform admirably. After all, as he put it, the instructions are perfectly clear and very easy to boot. Besides, if there was anything he was not sure with, there was always his cherished partner Levi whose relaxed attitude and confidence would get them to their destination victoriously. Thankfully, the blue dragon was not the slightest affected by stage-fright.
Enraptued by the little yet adorable massage, a rapt smile formed itself on the silver fennec's muzzle. If only everyone was as endearing and supportive as the fine duo she faced - the world would not know woes. Alas, it was upon her and countless other people of goodwill to bring some light into these dark times. Shaking her head, the restrained Arniomon pointed at the four showcases that were covered by fabric as she heard the human boy's query.
"I take it you can push a roll car and carry a tiny jar with a worm inside?" She asked with a coltishly biting tone to her rhetorical question. Chuckling, Cion took in a deep, quiet breath and unwoundedly folded her arms. Although keeping her semiskilled poise of composure and self-efficacy, time still felt like as if it was slowing down to a crawl. The anticipation caused minutes to feel as if they were hours.
That was why she decided to briefly peek through a cleft of the crimson curtain. "Less Champions and far more Rookies than I had expected. I hope they were taught proper mannerisms..." She whispered - mostly to herself.

Alan and Levi both blushed a bit at Cion's response to their question. They stuttered together before deciding to stop and let one of them speak. "Y-yeah," said Alan, scratching the back of his head, only making occasional eye contact with Cion. "Of course I can, and it's pretty obvious that it's not exactly the hardest task, but... we..."
"We just wanted to make sure!" interjected Levi, holding onto Alan's back tightly, with his head close to his partner's, presumably to give himself more courage. "You know how we are! The last thing we'd do is assume when there are other people involved!"
"That might be more of a weakness than a strength..." muttered Alan.
"Shh! It's a case-by-case basis!" Levi loosened his grip on Alan and dropped to the floor before Cion decided to peek through the curtain. Alan, having just regained his composure, asked, "So what's it look like out there?"

Oh... the reaction of the delightful duo was simply priceless. Somehow, without aggravating her nor anyone else, they always managed to bring a soft, sincere smile on her muzzle. Cion chuckled and shook her head as her aureate eyes rolled calmly within their sockets. In a sense she was rather glad that the young man and reptile were quite cautious fellas. It was a nice change of pace knowing she had thoughtful partners by their side. Speaking of which, she wondered how Levi performed in combat. Though the moment was not good, the restrained Arniomon was certain that she would be witness of his might one day.
Taking another peek through a cleft of the crimson curtain, the silver fennec's large ears peaked upon perceiving the question posed by Alan. She shrugged weakly, scratching her chin before turning around to face her companions and friends. "Almost a hundred, most of them Rookies. They behave... appropriately I suppose." She explained, her gaze often shifting between the nearby clock and the four display cabinets which were covered by cloth.
Personally, the small fox was not nervous, but calculating the result of their presentation was beyond her grasp. Seldom had she undertaken something as trivial as an exposure, hence she hoped that her inherent charisma and commands of words sufficed for the task at hand. "1 minute left. Let's get this show started?"

Now, that was something interesting about Cion. Taking note on whether the crowd was "behaving." "Well, if they're not attacking each other, shouldn't be too much of a problem. Though I suppose I'm just used to crowds of people talking and whatnot when they're not supposed to. Usually at school. However, Cion, I think you'll be pleased to know that I was always the one who sat politely and quietly while everyone else messed around~ Should I have attempted to silence them?" The smooth, slightly-pompous movements he had been making broke down. "I don't know. Generally, if the teacher didn't care to try and just waited, I trusted their judgement and remained silent as well. But anyway, one minute left, it seems. Are you ready, I believe I am ready! Are you ready, Levi?"
"I sure am!" responded the upbeat blue drake.
Alan smiled. "Then yes, Cion, I think we are ready to start the show."

The speech that Alan held was... odd to Cion. First of all, her understanding of a proper school system was limited considering such essential aspects were barely beginning to blossom in the digital world. Most knowledge these days was either in books and websites that had to be read voluntarily, or was attained accidentally through experience and hearsay. Again, she was glad that wisdom and intelligence would be shared with the next generation inside Rosewood, but that was just a small start. Still, for her own ambitions, it was an aspect she would surely remember to establish.
Slightly raising a hypothetical eyebrow, a smile eventually formed itself on her lips. Giving the young lad an approving, confident thumps up, the silver fennec gladly showed him that he had the heart at the right place. Positive comity was seldom not a golden star in her opinion, though given what she was trying to create... she did not fully consent with his past behavior. Good folks, especially those who wished to be paragons, had to learn assertiveness to achieve their goals. Hopefully, despite not wishing to be a part of her dream, he could overcome his shyness. Fortunately, Levi was the perfect catalyst for this personal goal.
"Me as well!" She exclaimed joyfully before motioning the local maintenance mon to lift the curtains. The light of the large hall dimmed somewhat as the spotlight centered themselves on the trio and their four vitrines. Taking in a deep breath, the restrained Arniomon calmly stepped forward, certain that her cherished partners followed suits as instructed. Folding her tiny paws together, she waited a couple of seconds for silence to fill the area. Sooner than later, she cleared her throat, approached the microphone and started the introduction.
"Good day everyone and thank you for arriving! I hope all of you have a sweet day and arrived here without problems. My name is Cion, and these are my wonderful right hands Alan Pantell and Levi the Veemon. Today, we are excited to present you, the people of Rosewood, how you can significantly improve the yield of your agriculture without any additional effort." She spoke faultlessly until she pointed a talon at the amicable, cuddly duo. "Friends, please reveal our success."

As they looked out across the audience, Alan Pantell and Levi the Veemon put on friendly smiles, with Alan having a slightly harder time getting a natural-looking one than Levi. This would be easy. They could do this, and they knew it, since it wasn't their responsibility to do any of the talking. The human considered adding a bit of showmanship and flourishes into his movements as he carefully moved and uncovered the displays as they were directed to, but in the end, he decided that it would be better for him not to draw any more attention to himself than was necessary, since Cion was the one that the audience ideally should be paying more attention to. Having thought this, Alan suddenly remembered that as a human standing in a prominent position in a room filled to the brim with digimon, his very existence did enough to draw attention to himself. Oh, well. The best he could do was not encourage any more attention than he naturally did.
Having carried out the duties which shall remain unspecified, as the writer forgot what those duties were supposed to be, Alan and Levi stood politely, listened to the fennec's speech, and patiently awaited further direction from her.
