Taking a Bite out of the Wallet [Adrian]

Well, Roger seemed to have no qualms with going to the beach to have the spar. He even claimed how he'd have an advantage, saying that caterpillar treads had great traction on sand. Not hearing this fact before, and knowing nothing about tanks, Adrian raised an eyebrow. "I call bullshit on that one, Roger."
And of course Adrian's BS calling was verified when Morgan brought up that it was tank tracks that have good traction on the sand, not caterpillar feet. Feeling proud of himself, Adrian gave the Kunemon a smug smile as the bug stuck his tongue out at his brother.
With Kunemon on Hiroyo's shoulder, the group was about to leave the courtyard before Hiroyo suddenly stopped. Adrian and Shoutmon looked back as well to see Morgan throw away the destroyed hat. It was just a hat, but it still seemed to mean a lot to Hiroyo. Adrian was gonna have to find a way to pay her back, somehow...
Hiroyo asked how far the humans and Morgan would have to stand while the two Digimon duked it out on the sand. "It honestly depends. The flashiest move Shoutmon has is Fiery Fastball, although... yeah, we're gonna have to stand back quite a bit. Unless you just really have a yearning to be deaf."

The redhead took a moment to consider the information and directed a question to Adrian as they strolled in the direction of the beach. Even on a cool day like today there were still other people, tourists probably, heading that way. It just wasn't nearly the numbers that would normally be going there. "So I take it the 'Shout' part of the name is relevant to abilities?"
"Hey, hey! Why is it humans and Morgan standing back, huh? Are you ditching me, bro?" Roger demanded playfully. He was steadfastedly ignoring Adrian's very-accurate call. He was a busy bug, he couldn't be blamed if he got things mixed up sometimes!
And his feet weren't what would really give him an advantage after all but he was keeping that fact to himself.
"I have no desire to spar so soon after eating." Morgan calmly stated, not rising to the very obvious brotherly taunting Roger was flinging his way. "It will be a hardship on you, but I trust your magnaminous personality will guide you to allow me this respite."
The fancy words got an amused snort in return and the Kunemon turned his head and looked to Shoutmon. "Welp, I guess we're the only two who aren't lazy slackabout after eating, red."
Hiroyo had been mostly-attentively listening to Adrian or Shoutmon, whoever had answered her question, but now she turned her attention to the worm. To be fair to her, it was pretty hard to pull one's attention away from a voice that was almost literally in her ear all the time. "You can't seriously expect Adrian and I to fight, I don't know how!"

Adrian laughed when Hiroyo asked if the 'Shout' part related to his abilities. "On at least one of them, definitely. Other times it's because they either have a wide area of effect or they'll blow dust in all directions."
Roger began to question why Morgan wouldn't be joining the spar, and the FanBeemon simply responded that he didn't like to fight after eating. "Oh, like how they say you shouldn't swim until half an hour after you ate? Definitely a good reason to not join then."
The Kunemon tried his hardest to pester Morgan into joining, but using fancy words he managed to wiggle his way out of the fight. Shoutmon just chuckled at the vocabulary that Morgan was using. "I assume you read a thesaurus every night before bed, right, Morgan?"
It was pretty ludicrous for Roger to expect Adrian and Hiroyo to fight alongside them. "I do have a hardlight baton, but I only use it when I absolutely have to."
Once they would reach the beach, Shoutmon would go off to find a nice patch of sand free of bystanders so that he and Roger could start their spar. "So, do you wanna pull the first punch or should I?"

There was a look of amusement on Hiroyo's face that was quickly hidden by a hand when Shoutmon commented on Morgan's vocabulary. "No, he only does it to annoy Roger."
"It's true and completely ineffective!" came the very heated and most definately truthful retort. Morgan smirked, assured of the actual success of his tactic as the conversation moved onto the topic of more direct fighting. More pointedly, why the humans were not.
Roger groaned and rolled his head around. "I thought it was obviously I wasn't referring to you too! But honestly you probably should learn how to fight at least a little so if Morgan and I are every busy or hurt or whatever, you have more options than just freeze and die."
"I can do just fine! I don't think I've froze up enough for you to have a problem with it." Hiroyo huffed as she came to a stop on the beach. She put her hands on her hips and glared at the worm as he flung himself from her shoulder to land messily in the sand then started inching away.
"You should still consider it!" He called before following Shoutmon further away from the group to an empty stretch of beach where the two could fight. He rolled his head around, noisly cracking something in his neck. He took the opportunity to scope out the area with his senses: flat sand, the sea at low tide so low chance of it creeping up on them. "Well, if you're offering I'll take it!"
With that he reared his head back and then opened his mouth to spray a mess of sticky-white webbing over the area between them. He finished with a click of his beak and then posed, clearly taking this spar as more of an opportunity to goof around and show off then as a serious fight. "Approach me if you dare!"
Meanwhile Hiroyo was crossing her arms and glaring at the worm in the distance. "Can you believe him?" She demanded, turning her head to Adrian. "I mean, I've done fine so far!"
Morgan landed on the ground near them and folded his wings neatly against his back. He made a noncommittal noise. Instead he also directed his words to Adrian, although from him it was a request.
"Would you be willing to show me the hardlight baton? I must admit to being curious, I have not seen one before." Hiroyo rolled her eyes.

Both partners couldn't help but laugh at the retort made by Roger. "Sounds like something I'd do when I wanna be a little shit with my friends," Adrian said in between laughs.
"Yeah, didn't think Morgan even had it in him to be funny," Shoutmon commented, "if anything I thought Roger was the one to have all the comedy-related data in his core and Morgan was the 'responsible yet boring' type."
Roger claimed he was clearly not talking about Hiroyo when it comes to fighting, but mentioned that she should learn to fight so she could, in Roger's words, "have more options than just freeze and die". Hiroyo of course combated this, but Adrian could kind of see where he was coming from. "Have you considered using a D-Arc like mine? It'd let you power up Roger and Morgan so you'd be able to help more. A hardlight baton would also help."
Alright, now it was time for the fight to start. Roger took up Shoutmon's offer to go first. He shot out a strand of web in between the two of them, posing and taunting Shoutmon to attempt to come near. The red dragon smirked before leaping up into the air and throwing a music note shaped fireball right at the webbing, burning it immediately. Shoutmon held his mic staff behind his head, smirking at Roger. "Is that it, bug boy?"
Back with the spectators, Morgan had asked to see Adrian's hardlight baton. "Uh sure," Adrian said, taking the device out and placing it on the ground near Morgan before backing away. "Sorry, I guess bees still freak me out..."

"D-Arc? That sounds familiar..." Hiroyo trailled off, snapping her fingers a couple times before straightening up. "Oh yeahThat's the card-thing right? I think you mentioned it earlier or was that a different conversation?"
"You have talked about it with a couple people." Morgan remarked as he gave Adrian a small nod before reaching out to tap at the baton. He was more bemused than offended by Adrian's aversion, frankly the way Adrian was handling it was quite a relief from how someone else handled their fears. "I understand and appreciate your maturity in addressing it. Hiroyo is afraid of cyborgs."
"I'm not afraid. They just give me the heebie-jeebies." She retorted as she crossed her arms and shivered at the thought. "The tubes and the wires poking into flesh, and how some of them are actively rotting... Ugh!"
"Regardless, you have been doing better lately." Morgan was obviously losing focus on the conversation as he poked at the baton in front of him, his antenna twitching excitedly as he fiddled with it. He was very cautious and after a moment he picked it up and handed it to Hiroyo. She stared at it for a moment before giving it a couple swings then handed it back to Adrian.
"Here you go! Honestly though cards will probably be more my style."
Meanwhile Roger's very obvious trap had been burnt away. The worm clicked his beak appreciatively as the heat washed over him and he felt the majority of the net was burned through. There were still a few strands here and there, but the threat they possessed had been nullified greatly.
"That's some decent firepower there, but I'm not done yet!" He joked, his tail sway behind him as he considered his next move. He lunged forward, sparks of electricity beginning to jump along his skin as he attempted to get into grappling rage. "Hopefully this doesn't shock you too much!"

"Yeah, the D-Arc is a special Digivice that lets me use cards to power up Shoutmon and other Digimon in battle. Some of the cards are also based off of other Digimon, like Guilmon or Seadramon. It's really handy in battle, and is just barely worth the fifteen thousand bits I spent on it." Adrian sounded like he was close to being dead inside when mentioning how much it had cost him.
Adrian was grateful that Morgan understood his fear. "I mean, I know you're a nice Digimon and that you aren't going to sting me, but you still look like a bee, so..." Adrian looked over at Hiroyo when she mentioned her fear of cyborgs, specifically the zombie-looking ones. "Not all cyborgs look like that. Some look pretty cool, like Juzo from No Guns Life, or Genos from One Punch Man."
Morgan and later Hiroyo observed and fiddled with Adrian's hardlight baton some more, with Hiroyo even testing it out by swinging it. She handed it back to Adrian, claiming that cards were more her style. "This is moreso to defend myself from low level Digimon when Shoutmon can't get to me in time, or is dealing with something bigger."
Back in the fight, Shoutmon had left Roger's trap as nothing but ash. In response the Kunemon charged his body with electricity and lunged right towards Shoutmon. The red dragon twirled his mic staff and held the top piece towards his mouth. "BELLOW BLASTER!" Shoutmon... well, shouted as a beam of sound energy headed straight towards Roger. Shoutmon uses "Bellow Blaster" on Roger.
Bellow Blaster: Shoutmon screams into his mic, which creates a sound-based energy blast that travels right towards his opponent. Cooldown is one post.

"That's 15 in bits I'm assuming. Hm." Hiroyo tapped her cheek as she considered the price. "That's not too bad. I might need to go back to Rosewood and do a few jobs after, but I've gotten paid pretty well recently~"
"The price is not too bad, we could easily buy that and still have a comfortable amount." Morgan mused thoughfully. He tapped his beak with a claw as he thought in an unconscious copy of Hiroyo's own actions. "Despite...everything else at least the forest job paid well."
She giggled as Adrian talked about cyborgs, her hand covering her mouth the muffle the sound. She was very familiar with one of those examples. She removed her hand from her mouth to wave it in the air as she explained her particular squick better. "Oh I'm mostly okay with cyborgs like Genos who are mostly robot, and he's obviously fake! My biggest issue is with digimon who are cyborgs! So many of them have the tubes going straight into their flesh and you can't help but see it, ugh!"
On the beach Roger was having a tough time of things. He wasn't fast enough to dodge the sonic attack so he dug his feet into the ground and braced himself against the sound wave. He could feel the sound pounding against his body and he knew he couldn't stay there. With a shriek he flung himself forward, his beak open as he attempted to grab onto Shoutmon's tail and then wrap himself around the dinosaur. Electricity still arced across his body, so why his plan was to get up close and personal with Shoutmon was pretty obvious!

Adrian wanted to know why they thought the price of the D-Arc wasn't that bad, considering that he is usually pretty poor when it comes to bits. But he decided not to even bother with that, instead opting to ask another question. "Despite everything else? What happened at this 'forest job', anyways? Did it go badly or something?"
Hiroyo cleared up her fear statement some more, saying she had no problem with mostly robotic cyborgs, and was mainly talking about the zombie looking ones that have tubes going into their flesh. Adrian just laughed. "I can definitely see why that would be scary to someone. Your least favorite Digimon is probably Andromon I'm guessing, right?"
Adrian decided to explain his fear some more. "It's moreso the human world bees I'm afraid of, since they aren't sapient and sting whoever they deem as a threat. Still, a much bigger bee... it kind of unnerves me a little. Good thing Morgan is nice, at least."
Right after Shoutmon's Bellow Blaster attack had ended, he saw Roger flying right towards him. Naturally, the red dragon aimed to swing his mic staff at Roger to defend himself. The thing he forgot was that his mic was metal, which conducts electricity. So right when it collided with the electric-charged Roger, Shoutmon got quite a hell of a shock, giving him a great deal of damage. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!" Shoutmon has taken damage from Roger's Rage of Electricity attack.

"Haaah, yes. Badly is a word for it." Morgan and Hiroyo looked at each other and exchanged a socially awkward glance then Morgan turned back to Adrian. "We made it out of the mission better than some of the rest of the group did. Everyone was still...breathing at least, and they seemed a lot better later."
"But that's not important! Let's talk about our deepest...weirdest...fears...instead. Hm." Hiroyo's voice slowed and then she shut her mouth firmly and looked faintly ill. Her thumbs flipped up at Adrian's guess. "Yep! Got it in one, ha ha...!"
She perked up as the conversation moved onto his fears and nodded along with his commentary. "Yeah! He's pretty calm too so I imagine that helps somewhat?"
There was a scrape of something dragging across the sand a little ways down the beach. A red penguin in denim overalls with a matching cap waddled his way across the beach to the humans watching the fight. He held a long grabber pole in one wing, and the handle of a wagon with trash bags in the other. As he drew near to Hiroyo and Adrien his stony expression could be seen.
"Oi, you lot with those two?" He gestured toward the Kunemon and Shoutmon sparring on the sands with the grabber stick before returning it to rest over his shoulder.
"Raha!" Roger snapped his beak shut on the mic stand to conduct his electricity, wincing as his beak grated against metal. The sparks dancing across his body transferred through the pole and faded away from his body. Success! He had managed to hit but his head shook from the force of his beak closing on the metal and the soundwaves that had assaulted him before. He couldn't shake his head to clear it either, instead he narrowed his eyestripes and pushed on!
With a twist and a thrash of his body he attempted to stab Shoutmon with his tailspike! It wouldn't be a real stab because it was a spar and he wasn't that kind of jerk, but more like like a particularly painful poke from a pencil.
A pencil that was six inches long, extra pointy, and a lot harder than wood.

Adrian's face morphed into an expression that was like a fusion of curiosity and worry. "What the hell happened during that forest job? What were you guys even supposed to be doing in it anyways? I shared our story, you should have to share yours as well." It didn't seem like Adrian was going to drop this subject, no matter how hard Hiroyo might wish he would.
Whether or not Hiroyo or Morgan would explain however, a Digimon that looked like a red penguin with denim overalls and matching cap walked up to them. He looked at the two Digimon sparring on the beach and asked if they were with them. "Yeah, we're their partners. Don't worry, it's not a real fight, they're just sparring. Are we being disruptive at all?"
Back to the fight, Shoutmon had just pulled a dumb move by deciding to strike an electric-charged enemy with his metal staff, causing the Digimon to become electrocuted. While he was recovering from said electrocution, Roger took this chance to stab Shoutmon right in his chest with his tail stinger. Shoutmon yelped, grabbing Roger's body and yanking the stinger out before throwing him across the beach. "That... HURT!"

"Well. We were suppose to delivery some flowers you see, and-" She broke off as the Muchomon approaches, a relieved smile on her face at his interruption. The forest job would, maybe day, be something easy to talk about but right now she couldn't look back at it without a lot of embaressment and uncertainty over her own actions.
"Yes! I'm partnered to the Kunemon, his name is Roger and-"
"Yeah, yeah, very nice names you have. Woohoo, good job." The red penguin waved his pole in the air as he dismissed her words, clearly not interested. He was completey unfazed by the offended glare she shot him and continued to speak, his tone making it clear that he thought the group was a hassle and just talking to them the most unpleasant part of his job Ever in his mind. "Look, you lot are in the way of the Great Volunteer Beach Pickup Brigade and ya need to get out of the way by the time we reach this spot, got it?"
"We have no intention of being a disruption for long." Morgan assured the bird as he snuck a 'shut up' glare and Hiroyo and twitched his antenna. She crossed her arms over her chest and huffed loudly then settled for very deliberately looking far down the beach were digimon in overalls were moving around spearing pieces of trash with their sticks then putting it into bags. She gave the red penguin A Look but did not actually say anything.
It was probably for the best.
"HAHAHHA YOU IDIOT! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ACTU-" Roger broke off his friendly taunting as his short air time from the toss ended up with him in wet-sand portion of the beach with a wave washing up to clean his mouth out for him. He wiggled upright and scampered out of the waves as fast as his legs could carry him.
"Oh gross! Salt water!" He stuck out his tongue and scraped it against the edges of his beak. After a few of that he shook his head then faced Shoutmon again, his beak open in a grin. He waggled his tail blade in a taunt. "Nice throw! Want to try that again or did you get shocked enough the first time?"

Well this bird Digimon was just peachy, wasn't he? Adrian didn't think they were doing anything wrong, but by the way this mon was acting, Adrian, Hiroyo and Morgan must've been going around spraying graffiti all over everything. He could tell it wouldn't be a good experience communicating with him. Adrian had to deal with crappy customers at his human world job however, so he just decided to suck it up and try to act friendly.
Apparently Shoutmon and Roger were in the way of the "Great Volunteer Beach Pickup Brigade", and wanted the two Digimon gone by the time they arrived. Adrian took another look at the beach; it was practically spotless already! "Pick up what, exactly? Seashells? This beach is the cleanest beach I've ever seen." Maybe the trash was so small he couldn't see it, but still.
After Shoutmon had thrown Roger across the beach, still rubbing the area where he was stung, he noticed a bunch of Digimon coming down the beach with sticks and trash bags. "Looks like it's time to wrap it up, Roger," he called out to the Kunemon. "Some kinda clean up group is coming our way."

The Muchomon huffed and puffed up his chest. "Of course it's the cleanest beach in the area! We keep it that way." He glared at the trio standing around and watching the fight. He gestured with his stick toward the fight, the tip quivering in anger. "And there isn't any damage now but do you know what fire does to sand?!"
"Uhm, nothing?" Hiroyo offered with a quirk of a her eyebrow and a little sass as she put her hands on her hips and leaned over so she could glare into his eyes more effectively. "It's not like it's going to burn, you stupid little penguin!"
"But it could melt." Morgan suddenly piped up. He had started this conversation looking at the red penguin angrily but his expression had turned thoughtful as the bird spoke. "Glass is made of sand...and fire isn't the only problem either. A strong enough lightning strike can turn sand to glass. Roger's done it before...but only in a higher form. These two shouldn't be an issue."
The bird looked surprised for a moment before he nodded and his angry yelling softened a little as at least one of the group finally saw things his way. "That's right! While they might not cause a problem now, that's not the only problem." He turned from the fight to gesture at the line of workers who were finishing up picking up pieces of trash.
It was faint, but in front of them was a section of beach that looked pristine...until hazy shapes of trash started appearing in front of them. The shapes were indistinct at first, and nothing seemed bigger than a fast food bag but it looked like someone had dumped a garbage truck out then tossed everything every which way. Only inside a twenty foot stripe of beach that ran from the surf to the boardwalk where a few digimon were waiting with towels and other accessories. More digimon were starting to filter onto the beach behind the penguins.
There was a very obvious silence from Hiroyo and Morgan as they both stared, and stared, and then stared some more before Hiroyo straightened up and abruptly threw up her hands.
"That's not even the weirdest thing I've seen in the digital world but WHY? What could even cause that?! And why does it have to interupt our get together!"
"What? Really?" Roger twisted his head around and narrowed his eye stripess and then swivelled his head up to the group watching the fight as he heard Hiroyo's outburst. He rasped his beak and for the briefest moment he stared at the muchomon with a look that promised harm before he seemed to realize the situation and his expression shifted back to normal. "It really is the no-fun patrol huh?"
