The way Honoka eloquently exposed the group’s plight would probably be enough to make any diplomat envious. She brought in fair points. The machines took some moments to process her speech; in the meantime, the other members of the diplomatic party added to the magenta-haired girl’s words, or exposed their own viewpoints themselves. Neither Luna nor Mandrake believed in violence, all while Cion decided to backtrack on the Lunamon’s words and ask the machines the motive of their expropriation.
How to tackle this? The AtlurBallistamons gave the group a glance before beginning to speak.
“Our previous mining site was.”
“Invaded by a group of Scorpiomons.”
“They violently pushed our workers away.”
“Some perished.”
“We had to search for a new place to establish our operations.”
“We use sand as part of a cooling system.”
“A catastrophic meltdown would have occurred.”
“If we did not procure more quickly enough.”
“So, we had to act fast.”
“Thus, the situation that you know about came to be.”
“For that reason.”
“In these circumstances.”
“We cannot let go of our current mining site.”
“But if you drive the Scorpiomons away.”
“We will go back to our old place.”
“And leave Whitewater alone.”
“Is that acceptable?”
Of course, the offer wasn’t as naive as it looked, considering that the one of the digimons had already taken a written copy of Whitewater’s terms and had begun scanning it. But it wasn’t like that was a particularly harmful action, right?
Now, the ball was on the group’s court. How would they take the offer? Was it fine for them to act as pest control? That was their decision. At the very least, it was pretty nice that these seemed fairly civilized.

Luna had to admit, of all the possible explanations to what was going on she didn't see this one coming, getting your own mine driven away wasn't something she expected to hear. Though while she wanted to believe they were telling her nothing but facts something in the back of her mind made her feel like this story might just be that, a story to try and get the group to leave and possibly perish against a large group of possibly territorial Scorpiomon. Still her kind nature couldn't look past this whole thing and despite not taking the group opinion she felt like she had to say her own opinion.
"I'm willing to help, fighting is more my speed anyway and if it can get this whole thing solved then that's a win-win in my books." Luna said seemingly agreeing right out the gate. "Though if we do this and leave I'd ask you relinquish control of the mine to Whitewater or at least let them use it while we are gone, I'm sure they'll be more then willing to help with your cooling system problem while we take care of the Scorpiomon problem." Luna asked figuring that was a fair deal, it wasn't her being cocky about fighting those things, it would show they're willing to give up the mine and help her trust leaving the place so soon.

Thankfully, the others managed to bring up points that Honoka had missed or was too intimidated herself to bring up. And the robotic Digimon certainly seemed to have their sense of civility, which managed to comfort the girl somewhat. They responded rather well to the group's collective diplomatic approach, but when the machine Digimon brought up their own plight Honoka began to get a little nervous. Honoka felt a pit in her stomach grow as the Scorpiomon were mentioned. And despite their abundant hospitality, Honoka didn't quite fully trust the AtlurBallistamon's words just yet. For starters, what if the machine Digimon happened to take over the Scorpiomon's land and they were simply taking it back from them? Legal rights or not, it wasn't right to drive the Scorpiomon from their home if that were the case.
Additionally, she wasn't quite sure how to fully approach the situation. If she inquired about the Scorpiomon's status, or offered to negotiate with the Scorpiomon instead, the machine Digimon might get offended. After all, it seemed like these Digimon even killed their comrades. They probably wouldn't appreciate some little girl asking them to hold hands with the big bugs that killed your cousin!
At the same time, if the Scorpiomon really did kill their comrades, that was unforgivable as well. But murdering the whole lot of them also didn't seem right, either. And even if they drove them out... what would prevent them from just coming back and hurting more of the machine Digimon? Honoka was at a complete loss for words, but thankfully, someone else was willing to voice their opinion before her.
Luna seemed perfectly down with fighting the Scorpiomon, which Honoka didn't entirely agree with, but she understood her point. But she certainly agreed with her suggestion of granting Whitewater access to the use of the mine in the meantime. She took a deep breath before she spoke. "I think if the Scorpiomon really went as far as... ending some of your friends, then we can't let them go unpunished. So I promise to at least drive them away! But I think that Luna-san raises a fair point - giving Whitewater at least limited access for their operations in the meantime it's only fair that you extend that level of trust, since morals aside, we're currently acting as representatives of Whitewater right now."

Things had taken an unexpected turn with the mention of a group Scorpiomon that had attacked and driven off the miners. It seemed tragically that not all the fleeing miners were lucky enough to survive. As bad as that was, was fighting the Scorpiomon a better solution? It was true that while Mandrake was not much of a brawler, he had Lothar to assist him with that issue. Mandrake glanced back at his friend and saw a look of concern on the Leomon's face. It was clear Lothar was not only taking in everything said but trying to figure out a possible better way to handle things.
"There is also the matter of becoming no worse than the Scorpiomon if we resort to their methods. I'm not saying I'm against fighting if there is no other choice but I agree with Honoka that destroying them is wrong. No matter what the Scorpiomon did that does not justify us becoming their judge, jury, and executioner in any situation." Mandrake said as he gripped the staff in his lap rather tightly indicating his unease despite the calm of his words.

Folding her arms softly, a brief yet delighted smile manifested itself upon her muzzle. Cion was content, knowing that it was her who had showed pertinacity, and she had gotten the information she sought - their impetus. Naturally, she was not fatuitous and gave no credence to the machines' statements. They were but one side of the story, if they were not factually flawed to begin with. Nonetheless, this was exactly the cornerstone they needed for further undertakings. Depending on the actual truth of this conflict at hand they could and would act accordingly. They merely had to find the Scorpiomons.
"Then it's settled. Please provide us their location." The silver fennec requested with a firm expression of focus. Self-evidently, the request was not optional for them to deal with the matter. Fortunately, everyone else complied, but they wisely had their own considerations. Not all of them were voiced, which again was prudent. Holding one's cards close was astute, but the implications in the words they chose alone sufficed for her to know their open-mindedness. Excellent. With potential disputes about ethics and morality cast aside for the time being, her glance was directed towards the Coelamon who represented their client. "Is this intermission agreeable to Whitewater?"

Apparently, the terms had been readily accepted by the negotiating party, albeit with a clear condition; Whitewater must be able to resume their operations as soon as possible.
Well, as far as the machines were concerned…
“Those are most understandable terms.”
“We will remain with your representative to discuss.”
“The terms to hand out a portion of our mine.”
“She can remain here.”
“While you go and search for the scorpiomons.”
Right afterward, a small holographic device was slid across the table. Anyone from the other side was free to pick it up.
“Over there.”
“Is a map to our previous mining site.”
“Unless you have any more questions.”
“You’re free to go.”
The AtlurBallistamons turned towards the Coelamon while the fish herself gazed at the group. “Just like they said, I’ll remain here for the finishing touches of our agreement. Good luck! I hope you all return in one piece.”
Talk about a clean way for everyone to detach themselves from the hirees. Oh well; it wasn’t like there was a lot left to do in a situation like this one. Would the group have further inquiries, or would they just being their march towards the machines’ old mine? That was up to them, mostly.

Luna was a bit surprised at the sudden moral conflict that seemed to plague two of her allies, no one mentioned anything about being an executioner but that might've been more of a precaution then them actually worrying. once she finished listening to the robotic digimon and Coelamon she thought about any more questions she might have but nothing came to mind at the moment. She was about to go look at the map to get a read on where they were supposed to go, she stopped halfway to it though and sighed, throw away your pride for the sake of the mission Luna. "Ok, I have a pretty bad sense of direction, probably for the best if someone other then me reads it." Luna admitted with a small laugh, had she done that she might've ended up getting them lost in the ocean.
Luna decided to take this time instead to reassure the more worried of the group about their intentions. "Hey Mandrake, Honoka." Luna said trying to get their attention. "We ain't gonna be their judge and executioners, we'll do what we can to talk them down if we can. Even if it comes down to fighting we can just drive them away. Trust me I'm not keen on deleting anyone but we gotta think for the best for Whitewater right?" Luna reminded hoping it might put them at ease about this if they knew she wasn't gung ho about destroying digimon.
"Other then that I have no questions, drive away the Scorpiomons and head back, we'll come back in one piece font worry." Luna reassured as she started hanging around the exit for them all to head on their way.

Honoka gave a nod to Coelamon and to the AtlurBallistamon. She considered giving a thumbs-up or something, but that felt a little tacky, to be honest. "We'll take care of this problem, and after that, there'll be a solution where everyone can be happy!" Admittedly, the Scorpiomon might not be very happy about things, but there was only so much Honoka could do. She would just have to make sure that no one got too aggressive or bloody about any potential combat. Thankfully, Luna and Mandrake seemed like they were of a similar likeness to Honoka in that they didn't want to do any more fighting than necessary, while she still couldn't get a bead on Cion.
Luna offered the rest of the group the map, and Honoka just took a step back and shook her head. It's not like she couldn't read a map if she really tried, but she wasn't particularly familiar with Digital World topography yet. And there were other Digimon with more life experience in general to handle this particular task. Still, she knew there had to be a way she could be useful to the group, but she wasn't quite sure how. Even so, the only thing she could do was her best, and while it may not necessarily be good enough, she promised herself that she would do just that.
"Then we should get a move on, I guess..." Honoka stated, taking a deep breath as if she were just about to go into combat. She might have been getting a little ahead of herself, but she didn't want anyone to get hurt just because she wasn't paying attention.

Negotiations apparently done Mandrake got up. When the Lekismon named Luna said someone else should take the map since she was bad with directions, he didn't question it. Other digimon weren't exactly masters of navigation either. Mandrake watched as Lothar walked over to Luna and said "I'll handle the map then. My family has been out near this area when I was a kid."
Though Mandrake was not surprised that his friend had been out this way since Lothar came from a family of traveling merchants, what surprised him was that Lothar had spoken up so soon. Maybe it was something about this group that caused him to speak up. Though not shy, Lothar was not usually what one would call chatty around strangers. Getting his mind back to the job at hand, Mandrake said "I can use my telepathy to sense for the scorpiomon so the chances of an ambush are lower." He wasn't going to say zero because that would be foolish.

Standing up and folding her arms, it was apparent that everyone's conclusion was an adjournment of the conference. With a map at their disposal and a mission to pursue, it did not take long for eventual moral constraints to be voiced and appeased anew. Sighing under her breath, Cion shook her head and began the venture towards their destination - another mine, potentially filled with hostile entities. Her path was clear, regardless of their allies willingness to do what was necessary for the greater good... only bound by their relatively slow movement speed.
But the silver fennec was not out for blood, On the contrary - she doubted everything she had witnessed as of yet. Admittedly, she was already anticipating further twists in this ethical absurdity. It was how these kinds of stories usually went. Neither the machines nor the scorpions were innocent in this dispute. Perhaps not even Whitewater was. Ultimately, solely time was destined to reveal the truth, or forever conceal it behind a web of deception, accusations and hubris. Did it matter in the end? No... in the grand scheme of things, this was merely another, unexceptional footnote within the savage annals of the digital realm.

It was decided, then! The group parted from the comfort of their tent into the scorching hot desert. The route described in the map was easy enough to follow, at least; the group would have to traverse through a series of dunes for at least half an hour at a normal walking pace before reaching the edges of the designated area.
As they approached, a series of depressions could be observed sporadically filling the nearby terrain in between the tall dunes. They didn’t necessarily look like they had been dug recently, but they didn’t look like they had happened due to natural factors either. Maybe this had been how the machines had operated their mining operation? Or maybe it was something else.
Deeper into the perimeter, the entrance of an underground tunnel could be observed. It had clearly been excavated by a large digimon; from the looks of it, it reached deep underground, and was probably big enough to fit two or so MetalGreymons side by side somewhat comfortably.
Not many other noteworthy features were visible at ground level. If the Scorpiomons were lurking around, they definitely weren’t showing themselves at the moment. From that point, it depended on the group what to do next? Maybe inspect the depressions? The tunnel? Take an airborne angel to better assess the digsite? Those and many more options were at their disposal; it was up to them to take the initiative now.

Well everything seemed to work out for the better, Honoka and Mandrake seemed to be fine for now, or at least weren't going to let it get to them for the moment. A bit of concern rised in Luna considering she needed to rely on them and if they weren't on board it could be bad, but that worry quickly vanished and she let out a calming breath. "It'll be fine Luna, just beat the scorpiomons and hope that's all there is to it." she muttered to herself, she still didn't fully trust this deal or the convinence of it but she'd go along for now. Though while idling for the others she did notice Cion shake their head and walk to the exit, seemingly annoyed at this morals talk, Luna couldn't blame her if she was honest, they're here to do a job after all.
With the map business sorted out Luna went with the group, doing her best to not go the wrong way, she even grabbed her parasol she left in the sand holding it up against the powerful sun. Luna did end up walking a bit faster after a bit, eager to get this job done with and out of the sun. Eventually they ended up at the machines mine site Luna had expected a fight right as they arrived but that didn't seem to be the case. "Huh, if they're being territorial about the mine, you'd think they'd attack before we even got close." Luna voiced her thoughts looking around the area.
Taking in the view there wasn't much to see, a large mine entrance and some weird spots in the sand nearby, sporadically though making Luna confused, but considering she didn't know the first thing about mining she didn't question it too much. "Maybe I could jump and get a birds eye view?" Luna bent down a bit ready to spring sky high into the air before recalling what Hinoka had mentioned. "Oh right, you have that flying spirit don't you Hinoka? Mind doing it instead, if I jump too high and land that might give some unwanted attention."
"We should probably look around the place before going into the mine, I'd rather have a lay of the land before we enter what might be the only exit as well. Those depressions seem weird." regardless of Hinoka's answer Luna would voice her thoughts on their next action, made sense to her but she figured she should get everyone's opinion before they do anything.

As the group made their way to the mine with Lothar guiding them with the map he held, Mandrake was feeling uneasy as they drew closer. Though he could sense multiple digimon it was hard to tell how many. With that in mind the Wizardmon decided to wait until they got closer to their destination.
When they reached the area indicated by the map both Mandrake and Lothar looked around seeing the open mine. What really caught there attention though was the spots in the sand. "I don't like the looks of this. Scorpiomon tend to ambush their potential prey by burrowing into the sand. Those spots could be poorly camouflaged burrows which makes me suspect this may be a trap." Closing his blue eyes and focusing his telepathic senses, he turned his focus on the immediate area and though he couldn't sense how many there were, he said "Maybe it's because Scorpiomon are ultimate level digimon but all I can tell for sure is we're not alone out here. There are multiple digimon nearby but I can't tell for sure how many. If anyone tries to fly overhead I suggest extra caution."
Lothar momentarily stuck the map in the Infini-store he was carrying for Mandrake since he had more possessions between them and readied himself for the possibility of battle.

As they traveled together, Honoka managed to put her doubts behind her for the time being. She had a responsibility to do her best, and she could only hope that she was doing the right thing. Perhaps it was thanks to her EV Suit but she rather enjoyed the scenery around her. With this, perhaps she could go on a long run using the sand here instead of a beach for a change of pace. She wasn't exactly sure of the benefits of running on desert sand as opposed to the beach, after all. She would have to look that up when she got back to the human world. Her mind wandered as she traveled with her temporary companions, until she realized they had arrived at their destination.
Luna and Mandrake made their preparations. Mandrake used his telepathy, something she found to be rather disconcerting to say the least and stated that there weren't any enemies around, or at least any enemies that he could sense. So it wasn't a guaranteed ability. And Luna had suggested someone get a bird's eye view, nominating Honoka to do so.
"Y-yeah!" Honoka she answered hesitantly, not at all nervous. She gripped her D-Tector and the bulky device nearly slipped out of her sweaty hands. It took her several tries but she managed to catch it before it touched the hot sand. She took a deep breath and called out to her spirits. Lulu was probably still tired from their trip, so she figured she should let her rest just a little bit longer. "Lili, I need you to wake up now! We've got a job to do!" A ring of data formed around her hand. "Spirit Evolution!"
One magical girl transformation sequence later and Honoka's human form was replaced the flower fairy Digimon, "Lillymon!!!" She floated above the scorching sand a bit, immediately beginning to feel dried out by the arid climate.
Wait... why are we in desert!? Honoka, I'm a flower Digimon, and my Togemon days are long behind me! Me and dry climates do not mix, like, at all! The flower spirit's protested in a voice that could only be heard by Honoka.
"I'm sorry, but Lulu needs some rest, and I need an aerial vantage point!" Honoka explained. It made her sound ridiculous, but the spirit's senses were linked with Honoka's, so her Lili couldn't hear her unless Honoka spoke aloud. She nodded to her comrades and took to the air.
Hey, who are all these people with you? Have you joined a team or something? Oh, or are you in a gang now?
"What? No, we're just working together to help clear a mine from some aggressive Digimon!" Honoka attempted to fill in her spirit on the details.
Well next time try to clear out a garden or something! Also, when we get home, we're taking an extra-long shower while transformed!
"Your wings would make that too uncomfortable!" Honoka refuted while searching the sands for anything of interest. She searched for poorly-hidden enemies, additional entrances, or any other thing that seemed to stand out in the desert environment. "Besides, long showers are bad for the environment!"

As they arrived, Cion came to an abrupt halt and folded her arms. Their surroundings painted a clear picture, although her temporary allies felt the need to point its pieces out regardless. Briefly contemplating how to approach the situation at hand, those who accompanied her had already made up their mind. A bit rash, but at least not reckless. Allowing the spirit-wielder to scout the area from above was certainly safer than traversing the sands without any preparations. Not that the she was concerned about her own well-being, but she had others to protect from potential adversaries in the shape of Scorpiomons.
"I wonder..." The silver fennec spoke quietly as she attempted something. The depressions seemed like an obvious trap, or perhaps a deterrent, so why not test this hypothesis? Raising her right paw in a fast motion, her gaze lingered on a knoll of sand. Before long, give or take 25 tons of material were lifted from the floor - apparently through sheer force of will. Utilizing precise motions of her fingers, engulfed in a faintly iridescent veil, she swayed her catch towards one of the holes. Slowly, she allowed the grit to descent, flattening the furrow with a gentle thud.
Would this change anything, or cause an effect? Who knew, but maybe it was worth a shot. It was not like anyone else had a good idea, so why not follow her instincts and see if she could avoid an unintentional tussle with these supposed invaders.
