From this! In all honesty? Coelamon didn’t like the Western Flatlands at all. In fact, she didn’t like deserts at all, but there weren’t many aquatic digimons around that could withstand this climate and not just die horribly. So here she was, being the envoy of a city that just wanted to reclaim its rights in regards to lawful mining enterprises. The heat was a little bit on the unbearable side, but the fish was smart, and had taken the necessary precautions to not suffer a sudden heatstroke and end this venture early. Sunblock, lots of extra water on heat-proof containers, and even a parasol to better withstand the merciless rays of the sun. And, in all honesty? She hoped that the people who had been tasked to help her in this endeavor would do the same. She wasn’t entirely sure on how those had been recruited, but she knew that the city’s government had promised a group of individuals to help her negotiate in case the machines were up to that, or to defend themselves in case they weren’t. Speaking of which, where were they? The meeting time was supposed to be in like… five minutes or so, yet, at least for her, there was nobody within line of sight. With any luck, they’d hurry so they could begin! Cion Honoka Nijimura Luna ricochet6-Mandrake

Luna stood in the desert area, checking a small map she had on hand while holding a parasol to better block the heat's waves, she was told this should be the spot. Thinking back on it she reminded herself why she was here, her old contact from when she was a Merc came to her with a job offer, while she was no mercenary anymore something about the way he asked and described what was going on made her decide to head on over. That and the reward was nothing to sneeze at either, especially for what sounded like an easy job. "Only easy if it goes well." Luna muttered to herself as she continued on.
After an adventure around the spears of megido she had managed to unlock her champion form back, which was the form she decided to stick with. Still the heat did absolutely nothing good for the digimon, she tended to do poorly in a hot environment hence the parasol but still she continued on making sure to follow the directions completely.
Eventually she found the location, least she assumed so. A Coelamon in the desert was a pretty dead giveaway. Rolling up her map she attempted to stuff it on her person, but a breeze quickly took it out of her hand and away from her. With a shrug figuring she had better things to do she continued on towards the possible client. However anyone who got that map would quickly see the directions on it are entirely wrong, hence how she found the place so easy.
A short wave was given as she approached. "Hey, I'm Luna, hired to help out. Sorry if I was late. The directions I was given were a bit off." the understatement of the century right there.

Soaring high through the skies was a humanoid figure with an arcing rainbow following her. Honoka would have much preferred to have flown in a much less conspicuous manner, but according to her newly awakened spirit, flying fast and flying quietly were two very different things. She had flown as Lillymon before, but in this new Kazemon form, Honoka got to truly appreciate the beauty being one with the clouds watching the world below you slowly pass by as she made the world above them just a bit more colorful. Colorful. Much like Lulu, the new friend living inside her head.
You should probably try taking some bloody flying lessons... did you seriously not pick up that thermal just now? She could hear the Kazemon spirit's groan of anguish. You're putting too much strain on our wings! You're exerting way too much effort into pushing forward! All I'm sayin' is that ya gotta let the air lift you up, then when you want to pick up speed, just let gravity take care of the rest! It's that simple... She left out the word "idiot", but Honoka could tell that it was implied.
"That's all good to know, before I started flying!" She replied angrily. "Now will you shut up and let me concentrate!? Flying's new to me!"
Before Honoka could respond, she spotted figures down below. A large fish-looking creature that clearly looked out of her environment, and a pinkish rabbit creature standing on two legs and covered in ribbons.
Coelamon and Lekismon... Lulu helpfully informed her.
"Lulu, I promise I'll practice flying later, but for now, it looks like we're here!" She dove down, picking up speed as she approached the pair. And the ground, which was looking dangerously close right now. "Umm... Lulu? How exactly am I supposed to... you know... land?"
That's simple... just go in at a low angle and adjust our wings to apply enough air resistance to... Wait, you're going too damned fast!!!
Honoka tried to slow her landing as much as possible, but eventually gave up and braced for impact. Her lavender boots slammed into the hot desert sand as she skid a dozen metres away from the pair, creating a massive dust cloud behind her. Still, she managed to land on her feet, and considering she expected to be a purple splat across the ground, she chalked it up as a win.
I'd give it a solid two-out-of-ten, but maybe that's a little gracious of me because I'm not a Digi-pancake right now... Lulu complained as the Kazemon form dropped and Honoka's human form stood in their place. She patted the dust off her body as she made her little trek towards what she assumed was her client and the helper. It was blisteringly hot here, so she was going to see if that fancy EV suit she had purchased before coming to the desert was worth it, or if the vendor ripper her off big time. As she got closer, she heard Lulu call out inside her head once more. Goin' to sleep now. Call on Lili if you need some help. Next time, take the damned Trailmon... Honoka simply nodded, but continued her stride towards the Coelamon and Lekismon.
"Hello there!" Honoka said with a cheerful smile as if her inelegant entrance never occurred. "My name is Honoka, and I'm here to assist with the negotiations!"

Mandrake and Lothar walked through the Western Flatlands looking for the client they accepted the job from. The heat was unpleasant and even though Mandrake was now a Wizardmon his hat did little against the heat but at least it kept the sun out of his sapphire blue eyes. His friend Lothar, a Leomon with brown eyes, was using Mandrake's cape as an improvised umbrella ever since Mandrake lent it to him.
"About how much further is the client, Mandrake? Can you sense anyone else out here?" Lothar asked as he adjusted his grip on Mandrake's cape so he could see better.
"Shouldn't be much longer, old friend. I am beginning to sense the presence of others not far from here." Mandrake replied as he was following the minds of digimon and a digimon that became human. So there was a spirit wielder in the group it seemed.
"Perhaps next time we come out this way we should get an EV Suit." Lothar suggested and Mandrake nodded his head in agreement.
Soon the pair arrived and saw a sight one wouldn't expect in the desert. A Coelamon of all digimon was sitting there as if waiting and there was a Lekismon and human as well. Expecting Lothar not to be to social at first, Mandrake approached the group and said "I guess all of you are here about the job I'm here for." Lothar handed Mandrake his cape and the Wizardmon put it back on using his telekinesis. Mandrake then said "I am Mandrake, an adventure and traveling magician." Turning to Lothar he continued "And this is my childhood friend, Lothar. If he isn't chatty don't take it personally, he takes a bit to warm up to strangers."

What likewise arduous and intriguing times the most recent seasons had been, and it seemed as if this summer was hardly an exception. Naturally, the arrival of another inane fiend and their schemes was to be expected, despite the lords and their ambitions not fully thwarted yet, but the spontaneous manifestation of an entire piece of civilization? One that was even technologically advanced, and apparently quite colonial in their approach? Now that was certainly something else, and a refreshing change of pace. Perhaps for once, mind was truly the superior tool - a rare occasion in the life of a typically brawny digital monster.
Deep in the eternal blue above, the faintest shadow could be fathomed slowly yet steadily increasing in size. Evidently, there was an object, or a rather a person, who was approaching through fall. It was not the colorful spirit-wielder who had made an amusing faux pas which she claimed to be a landing, but an entity not bound to anyone or anything. This creature had reached this height thanks to a treasured friend; a mechanical mercenary who had rapidly left the scene to retrieve its former passenger later. Within a few moments, she was earthbound.
Touching down gracefully, almost inaudibly and with little sand dispersed, the silver fennec, barely the extent of a human child, adjusted her short, green scarf and cleared her throat. With firm poise, a focused gaze and a soft smile, the bipedal mammal strode towards the others. "Cion - at your service." The unassuming fox introduced herself concisely, confident that no elaborate presentation of herself was needed. After all, the whole group was here for not insignificant business, not banter, though the individuals Whitewater had selected were admittedly bewildering her slightly.
Her VIP was a Coelamon, who was already accompanied by a Lekismon, a hybrid-Kazemon, and a Wizardmon with his feline partner. Every single one of them was, detectable by their moderate data signature, a Champion. Was this intentional for the upcoming 'interaction' as to appear peaceful, or did their employers not consider the upstart-nation a threat? Given their actions, these machines were unlikely to broker a deal for what they have laid claim uncooperatively. To her, the danger was real.
Alas... there was no point in contemplating their decision. Protection was her forte anyway, regardless of the numbers she had to serve as a sentinel for. "I believe our team is complete. Shall we proceed then?"

In short order —even if not precisely in time— every participant in this small endeavor gathered around Coelamon and introduced themselves. Three digimons and a human, not counting herself.
“It’s good to see that everyone’s well.” The fish greeted back, her tone kind, yet somewhat tired at the same time. “My name’s Coelamon, and my job is to oversee the negotiations with… whoever decided to hijack Whitewater’s sand mine overnight.”
Hopefully good enough for an introduction. Now, onto the meat of the matter. “Whitewater’s government doesn’t expect to be given back full mining rights unless we retake the mine by force, but we don’t really need to. You have freedom on how you want to broker the deal, as long as we can begin back our mining operation with decent margins as soon as possible. My task here is to make sure the terms of such negotiation are acceptable, which basically means Whitewater not getting screwed over, so my own contributions to the negotiations will be low.”
She pointed forward “I’ve arranged a meeting with this place’s diplomats, and they should be expecting us in twenty or so minutes. Are these terms fine for you? If you don’t wish to participate in this negotiation anymore, now’s the time to leave. Who knows what will be ahead of us, and the situation runs the risk of becoming pretty hostile.”
She didn’t expect anyone to leave, but at least everyone expressing their outward acceptance of the terms exposed would be a good start. The initial job offer had been somewhat vague; at least this way nobody would get unpleasantly surprised if they were expected to perform roles that they themselves didn’t.

Everyone was here - the Lekismon, Honoka herself, the Mandrake the Magnificent Wizardmon and his Leomon partner, and a silver fennec fox Digimon that she didn't recognize named Cion. She nodded to Coelamon as she... she supposed the correct word would be debrief? She never expected to be debriefed in her life.
Regardless, Coelamon gave the group the details of the situation. She nodded once more, fully understanding the circumstances now. She knew she was going in for some negotiations, but she assumed that the Whitewater official would be handling it. Still, she thought she could help out with that, too. Honestly, she didn't expect to be all that useful in a combat situation.
"That's no problem on my end! Of course I'm willing to help out!" She said with a perhaps too-determined smile. She was a tad nervous. She hadn't spent too much around machine Digimon, but she only hoped that they could be appealed to. After all, if they couldn't, then Whitewater wouldn't have sent people for negotiations... right? Still, she wasn't entirely familiar with the group she was near. And they had about twenty minutes to kill, right? Maybe she thought she could get a brief conversation.
"Right, so... if anyone missed it, my name is Honoka!" She spoke up, doing her best impersonation of a class rep. "Umm... I figured that while we got things moving we can go around the group and briefly talk about our capabilities? If you want to, of course!" She held up her D-Tector device. "I don't want to start a fight or anything, but I figured it could be good idea with things started going badly for us!" She nervously put her Digivice away and played with her thumbs.
"So I guess I'll start... I'm a spirit-user in case you couldn't tell, and I have three spirits. Lulu's my Kazemon spirit that's good for fighting in the air and using... colorful light attacks..." Saying she attacked with rainbows just seemed embarrassing for the girl, especially if she wanted to be taken seriously. "Lili's my Lillymon spirit that condenses sunlight and fires it off at opponents. She also has minor healing capabilities if someone gets hurt... and umm... Lala's my Ranamon spirit that uses..." Songs! She freaking sings at her enemies and then they get hurt! They're gonna find out how it works if you need to use it, dammit! "That uses sound-waves to attack and defend..."
Her face went red from nervousness as she immediately started to backpedal. "Anyways, that's all I can really do... so I just figured that I'd let you know all that! But if no one else wants to talk, that's perfectly fine, too! I was just... passing the time, is all!"

Luna seemed to be the first one there, which was shocking to her as she was usually la- before she could finish her thought something fell from the sky and skid against the ground nearby causing Luna to jump up, was it an attack? No it was just someone else who came here for the job. Resting her now jumpscared self she calmed down, just for another to jump outta nowhere, granted much more gracefully than the other had. "Why is everyone dropping from the sky?" if Luna had known that was gonna be the theme of today she'd jump high up before going near the client, instead of walking like a boring mon.
But the time for introductions was past and it was now time for the debriefing. It was pretty much the same thing her contact had told her but the Coelamon did give them a second chance to back out of this whole thing. "Yeah the terms are fine, hopefully things don't end up turning hostile." it went without saying that'd be the best outcome of the situation, Luna just didn't have a filter on her feelings about situations.
Twenty minutes to kill though did help her nerves a bit, she hadn't been on a job like this since reforming so she was a bit more on edge. Closing her parasol she decided just to place it on the sandy ground, sticking up by the handle. Now it was time to find out about her allies for this whole thing. But someone quickly beat her to it, the human of the group Honoka. "Ah, I should introduce myself again also, everyone calls me Luna. Imma ex-mercenary. Though taking a job like this I don't know if that's fully true." Seemed her and Honoka were on the same page about this waiting part. "Right I was thinking the same, I'd rather not fight but it'd be for the best if we knew a bit more about each other."
Listening to Honoka's abilities with the spirits Luna was a bit surprised she had three of them, Luna had thought that it was more of a one and done deal like with Tamers and their partners. But around the end her face started turning red and claimed no one else had to talk. "That's quite a lot, I had no idea humans could get multiple spirits." giving a smile she patted her hand on her chest. "Alright my turn."
Thinking for just a moment on what to say Luna decided to just let everything loose. "Well, I can heal myself and others at the same time, it works a bit slowly but like I said it can heal multiple at a time, I can also make barriers around anyone, only one at a time but they can be detonated to deal damage." that was it on her support abilities. "Aside from that I fight with my legs and fists, I can also make ice arrows and toss them around." holding her hand up to one of the tubes on her person she pulled an icy arrow as a demonstration, flipping it around for a bit before tossing it aside, it'd melt pretty fast in the heat anyway.
"I used to be a lot stronger, Mega level actually but I lost a lot of power when I reincarnated, but I still got my skills I've learned." thinking for a moment she had nothing else to add, that was pretty much it. "Welp that's all the info on Luna you'll need.

A silver fennec fox arrived a short time after he and Lothar had. Though Lothar didn't speak to the fennec fox, he acknowledged the newcomer with a polite nod of his head. Now it seemed the group Coelamon was waiting for was complete and the armored fish digimon began the debriefing. When it was over and they had twenty minutes to spare.
Deciding to reintroduce himself for the sake of the newcomer, he said "Like I said before, I am Mandrake and the Leomon traveling with me is my childhood friend Lothar. Much like miss Luna I have a healing ability but it isn't very strong I'm afraid. I also have lightning abilities and one that allows me to rain meteors from the sky. I also have the ability to distract enemies with the power of illusions. I'm also telepathic and telekinetic as well. My friend Lothar is a much better fighter than I am though with his ability to fight at both long and close range pretty well.
With any luck the negotiations would move along smoothly since combat wasn't his thing because he preferred to outsmart potentially opponents over brute force.

Were additional introductions truly needed? After all, did not she and the other volunteers already knew what was at stake and for what purpose they were present? To remember their employers and the VIP they were meant to safeguard was hardly a difficult task, now was it? However, if the people desired to spend their time by repeating known intel, then she would be the last one to interfere with this wish. Straightening her green scarf again, she nodded firmly and sighed. Evidently, she too was not fond of the desert's heat, though her physiology made her naturally resistant to it.
"Is it wise for us to have a prominent voice, and not you Coelamon?" She asked, confident that they were not eligible to actively participate in the negotiations. Not because of a lack of etiquette or sophistication, but due to the fact that they essentially were third-party sellswords. It was not in their right to speak on behalf of an entire city, correct? Besides, she had expected to act as a bodyguard and remove potential threats. Not that she minded to be an envoy, but such a position seemed out of place. Nevertheless, if things went array, she'd be more than happy to lend the force at her disposal.
Having stated her name and reasonable point of view, Cion's aureate eyes slowly swayed as to focus on the individuals who voiced their thoughts. Apparently, most were prepared for battle as well, which was good. Ultimately, they dealt with digimons of an imperialistic mindset, so they had to surpass them in might to have a sure footing. And the abilities which were listed were, although limited to the prowess of Champions, noteworthy. If nothing else, they had a relatively amazing defense and substantial crowd-control.
"I can fill any required role. With that being said, it seems we are lacking in a front-line in case that proceedings escalate. Hence it is my recommendation that I mantle this position." The silver fennec explained and suggested calmly, her poise and composure unwavering in the face of a neophyte nation potentially antagonizing them. Nonetheless, she was intrigued to learn of their disposition and impetus. As mentioned before, the events which currently transpire are quite something else.

Introductions progressed normally, each participant listing their own weaknesses and strengths. Thus far, it seemed like a pretty well-balanced group, and that pleased Coelamon. Only one digimon had a question thus far; a small fennec named Cion.
“Is it not uncommon for two parties at odds to solve their problems through a deal brokered by a third party.” The fish explained. “Whitewater’s Council has deemed it the best way to arrive at a nonviolent solution, if such a thing is even possible. Furthermore, I trust in you to have both parties’ best interests at heart while negotiating. Sometimes, belonging to a faction in specific makes you lose sight of what’s fair to both, you know?”
With any luck, that explanation would be good enough to satisfy the mammal’s curiosity on the matter. “If nobody else has any questions, then we’re ready to proceed to the negotiation site. Follow me.”
The group would advance through the desert until a small white tent was visible at the distance. It would only become obvious after they were decently close that it wasn’t made out of any fabric in particular; rather, the whole structure seemed to be woven by metallic filigrees, forming a complex and beautiful design to anyone who cared about it.
“I’m not looking towards entering that place…” Coelamon muttered. As pretty as it was, considering the desert’s temperature, the insides of that place might as well be an oven. Not like she had any choice on the matter, though. Once they had reached it, the fish was the first to enter inside… and find out that the place was actually well-refrigerated. Well, that much was a relief.
Inside, two Atlur Ballistamon were sitting in across a table big enough to accommodate for anyone present. “Welcome.” The metallic whirring they had for voices said in unison. “We have been expecting you. Please, take a seat.”
Coelamon complied, and once everyone else did, they spoke again. “We are willing to listen to your terms. Expose them.”
Not the most climactic of statements, but one could say that the negotiations had officially begun!

Everyone seemed to follow up on Honoka's suggestion and she let out a sigh of relief. She was still fairly new to the Digital World, and she was worried her companions, all of them natives to the Digital World - wouldn't take her very seriously. Especially after her embarrassing entrance. She noted to try and practice landing before she started to practice flying later.
Luna seemed pretty defensive in nature and seemed like she could defend herself regardless, while Mandrake and Lothar seemed to balance each other out in the subtlety-aggression department. Cion was still a mystery to her, but the silver Digimon seemed sublimely confident in her skills and insisted she take the front line in a combat situation. And it's not like Honoka could object, either. It was a little unnerving, since Coelamon seemed insistent on letting the group do whatever they wanted, and there wasn't a team leader for her to follow instructions from, either. Which meant if Honoka made a mistake and something went horribly wrong there would be no one to blame but herself. No pressure there.
The group made it to a well-cooled area away from the desert heat. Two large, almost insect-looking machines stood before them and when they requested they take a seat she did so, thanking them for their hospitality.
Honoka introduced herself to the machines that spoke in unison, feeling nervous, yet decided to speak up anyway. In a way, it was kind of thrilling.
"Even though we've been hired by Whitewater, we're just trying to make sure that everyone gets along as peacefully as possible," She stated. "Violence isn't going to do anyone good, after all! Coelamon can give you the details of what rights Whitewater needs to continue their operations, and we were hoping you could tell us what you were needing as well. All Whitewater cares about is having enough access to the sand mine so they can produce the glass needed to trade with the other cities, after all."
Admittedly, the girl spent her entire night going over property disputes like a crazed law student. "We... don't really understand what you're doing out here in the desert, but If you can get along with Whitewater, then you could probably get supplies only available in the Southern part of the Continent. Not to mention, by doing this, you show that you're willing to work with other cities to help resolve any potential conflict. Plus, by helping Whitewater flourish, you're essentially helping the other cities' trade as well, so they'll have a vested interest in helping you with... whatever it is that you need to do. But... I guess that's a talk for another day..."
That was all the girl could think of at the moment. Her native Digimon companions would probably be able to provide any glaring holes in her tired-brain logic or add incentives more appropriate for a Digital World negotiation, but she thought her logic was sound.

Luna took a moment to commit everyone's names to memory and what they could do, she knew her own abilities well enough and they seemed to balance each other out. Honoka had three spirits, though air combat wouldn't work well in a mine, could be helpful if they drag the fight out. Madrake and Lothar reminded her of Dust and her own styles, balancing each other out. Cion was definitely the wild card in this ground but the way they talked and handled themselves Luna figured they were confident enough in their skills, maybe it was her years as a Mercenary but if she had to guess Cion was probably the strongest here.
Seems all questions have been answered, Luna figured it had something to due with their lack of ties to either area, sometimes outsiders gave a better view on a situation then someone wrapped up in their own world. Going into the mine Luna was pleased to find out it was much cooler inside then outside, she didn't do well in the heat. Meeting up with the machine party Luna couldn't help but eye up the competition, two of the same digimon and they seemed friendly enough, she figured they were doing something similar to them and sending digimon that didn't look as threatening as say a Mega level.
Taking her own seat she listened as Honoka spoke about the mine, everything she said Luna agreed with but she felt maybe Honoka Should've left the violence card out of the negotiation, after all it might've not been the best to admit they'd let things get violent or expect the machines to do so in turn. "The last thing we want is either party upset, we won't ask for the specifics on why you took control of the mine if you wish. All that we ask is for whitewater to be able to use the mine they own." Luna repeated showing that she was on Honoka's side on the viewpoint for the terms, while it was a jerk move to take the mine in the first place it'd most likely be easier to work together then force each other out.

After the introductions were over, Mandrake and Lothar followed the Coelamon. Upon entering the structure they group was met by a pair of AtlurBallistamon sitting across a large table. Walking over to the table, Mandrake sat down with his staff resting on his lap. Lothar, meanwhile, had decided to stand not far away near the opening of the room so he could keep an eye on things. Mandrake didn't expect Lothar to necessarily join him at the table since his habit of not being talkative with strangers was well known.
Deciding to speak up, Mandrake said "I'm sure most of us want to solve this problem with no violence. Surely there is a way all parties can use the mines for the goods they need." Though the blue eyed Wizardmon wasn't an expert at negotiations, he figured common sense might appeal to machine digimon given their habit for being logical. That and he thought Honoka and Luna made sense with their earlier statements.

"Fair enough." Cion stated calmly and with understanding in response to the Coelamon's explications. As to avoid biases and a uselessness of effort, perhaps involving a third party truly was the correct approach. Peace was indeed preferable over violence, but this did not mean that she would go easy on the machines. The simple matter of fact was that they had annexed already owned territory, which was an act akin to larcency, but at a much higher level. That Whitewater was willing to negotiate at all was a true sign of civility, which was hopefully returned in kind. If not... well...
Nevertheless, the group ventured inside the astonishingly modern confines of the new realm they were tasked to come to an agreement with. Fortunately, they did not have to deal with savages, or else everyone would have had a bad time. "Many thanks." The silver fennec commented softly, appreciating the courtesy and hospitality the Atlur Ballistamons offered them. Taking her seat, she wondered how long the pleasantries were bound to last. Evidently quite short given the synthetic digimons' desire to immediately start hearing their case. Such straightforwardness was just fine by the unassuming fox.
At first, the lady who liked carrying herself with grace listened to the declarations her allies sought to utter. While Honoka wisely appealed to their sense of self-preservation and thriving, the constant emphasis on peacefulness vexed her slightly. They were not here to do policy of appeasement - perish the thought. Even during diplomatic endeavors, one had to show confidence, perseverance and steadfastness. Similar to combat, politics were partially based on exploiting the weaknesses the counterparty displayed. Folding her arms, she nodded firmly.
"Unlike my fellow mediators, I believe asking about your operations is expedient for everyone. Secrets beget distrust, which in turns leads to indisposition. Conversely, an open hand and clear grasp of the data facilitates trust, and with that relationships and the opportunities they enable. Naturally, this does not solely extend to Whitewater, as madame Honoka has illustrated." She spoke her mind directly yet politely. Manifestly she had a way with words that did not resemble casual banter, but elevated etiquette. As a former businesswoman, this was hardly a surprise, though of course nobody present knew her past.
