There was a flash of sympathy and sorrow in Toki's eyes as Craniamon momentarily had a moment of control. Control...he had an idea. "Datamon!" He called "Craniamon's trying to fight back! I think...I think now's our chance to free him from the tower's control! I'll help restrain him the best I can, we need you to at least try!" He called out as he rushed forward to assist KaiserGreymon.
"KaiserGreymon, step back!" He called out as he stomped on the ground. Splinters of crystal form on the ground as they darted ahead and grew in size. They would attempt to grow around Craniamon's body and stretch upwards to encase everything but his head "Moonblossom Style! Crystal Song Kai!" Normally Toki would shatter the crystal along with the enemies encased within, but this time he would allow the crystals to remain and bind Craniamon to allow Datamon the time necessary to interface with him.
He had to trust Datamon in this situation. There was no other option that he could see. Attempting to destroy the field or any other piece of equipment on this tower seemed like it would only result in the tower's collapse. The fallout of such a large structure crumbling down would be enormous, especially in the immediate area. This was his safest idea.
"Please, Datamon, we need you to do everything in your power. I won't let this mission be a waste without doing everything I can to assist in its success!" He declared as he focused on keeping the crystals in place. He grit his teeth. He didn't want this to be a mistake. He didn't want this to be like last time where they were all betrayed at the last moment. "The Digital World deserves a good turn for once!" He said, clearly emotional about this. "Craniamon! You're a warrior! Not a tool! Fight alongside us! Alongside Datamon!"

Toki uses Moonblossom Style - Crystal Song Kai to restrain Craniamon
Moonblossom Style - Crystal Song Kai: With a mighty stomp forward, crystals erupt from the ground attempting to encase a group of enemies in a cone in front of him. Should this succeed, Kenshimon would walk up to the crystal and place his open palm in front if it before closing his fist and striking with crushing force. The crystal splinters and cracks, a song-like chime echoing out as it shatters, damaging those caught within. (3 Post Cooldown)

KaiserGreymon visibly struggled against the Royal Knight Digimon who had been subjugated to the control of the evil construct. Their weapons stayed connected with one another. At this point, KaiserGreymon was not looking to finish the job, Instead, he was aiming to just keep Craniamon at bay and prevent further damage to the tower.
The crimson knight's eyes stared into Craniamon's...And for a moment, he swore he could see a moment of clarity flashing across the dark knight's irises.
"Get it out of my head! Get it OUT!"
This was exactly what KaiserGreymon was hoping for.
"That's it, Craniamon!" he shouted. "Fight it! You can beat the control! Don't let it take you over again!"
Toki seemed to have the right idea. Asking for Datamon to assist in freeing the mind of Craniamon. KaiserGreymon would fuel the desire of this request as well.
"Datamon," he begged, "help free Craniamon! The signal has been damaged, do what you must!"
It would be at that point where Toki Akiyama requested for KaiserGreymon to fall back. And so he did, releasing the tension on Craniamon's spear so he could hop backward.

Evidently, Datamon was picking up on the General’s intentions. Well, there was no reason to delay. Tadayoshi nodded in acknowledgement, then bade Datamon, “We’ll take care of it. Go help the others.” He readied his Loader. “Everyone else is working hard. We can still do our part. Deckerdramon! Hagurumon! Standby!”
“Ready,” Deckerdramon sounded off.
“We’re leaving? OK!” For once, Hagurumon seemed enthused about fusion. Then again, leaving was always their favorite part of any job.
“We’re getting ready, at least. Digi-xros!” Created out of the vehicular dragon and the mechanical gear turned out to be a huge digimon that was modeled almost exactly after a helicopter, though it was also clearly no helicopter designed by humans. Useful as they could sometimes be, it quickly became vertically claustrophobic for the vehicular digimon, something they were quick to make a point about.
Helomon moaned, “Make a hole quick! I’m helpless here!”
“Just hang on. Captain?”
“Xros me,” Commandramon agreed.
“And the Missimon. Standby... Digi-xros!” The transformation this time was a bit less dramatic. In fact, Commandramon himself didn’t change much at all. The only real difference was that he now had to wield his rifle in only one hand. That was because the other had to use all its might to hold up an AT-4rocket launcher that materialized over his shoulder, presumably comprised of Missimon data. “Are you sure you’ve got the energy?”
“I can squeeze a button.” For this demolition, Commandramon he’d better position himself carefully. He faced away from Helomon and his other allies, making him fire at angle which was hopefully still effective. “Cover your ears!” Bang!
“Wahoo!” The projectile in this case wasn’t quite a missile but a Missimon. By the sound of her shout she was clearly very enthused about being shot out of a cannon, but at the speed she was traveling she didn’t get a lot of time to revel in it. There was a boom and a crash at the point of impact as a fireball erupted. In that moment, hopefully, it was daylight pouring in on the other side of that fireball.
Hagurumon and Deckerdramon fused to X3 Helomon. Commandramon and the Missimon fused to X2 Commandramon + Missimon Launcher. Commandramon + Missimon Launcher attacked the indicated wall section with Missile Lock. -Missile Lock: Commandramon launches one Missimon, and that Missimon uses its own power to fly and change direction in flight. This move’s accuracy is boosted by 33% above base Commandramon accuracy. Cooldown: 1 post,

Oh, hell.
Just like that, the Datamon found his attention split. The Craniamon, partially held within the crystal casing, did not look to be a cooperative patient: he was already struggling against Toki's efforts, the crystal binds starting to crack and snap as soon as they were put into place. Honestly, the machine didn't know if there would be anything of value at the top level, but Toki did have the right of it:
If this tower collapsed, it would mean severe damage to the surrounding city.
"Sovereign damn it..." With a frustrated 'tsk', the Datamon gave a nod towards the general, before skittering off in the direction of the knight. It wouldn't take long for him to scale the crystal, and with a wire extended from his right hand, he hooked right up to the Craniamon's system.
Immediately, the Datamon felt the recoil of this. A visible spark burst off the back of his casing, accompanied by a loud 'pop', as the Datamon grimaced and forced himself to keep the connection. "Yes, let's just try to surge right into the main admin file, like that would ever go wrong..."
Whatever Datamon was doing, or had managed to do, it looked like it would take some time. Time that might not necessarily be afforded to him, as the Craniamon would force himself free of that prison, and immediately try and reach to wrench the Datamon off with his free arm. Was the program, or maybe the tower's will, trying to force the Craniamon to stop this?
As for the 'weak point' that the Datamon had pointed out earlier, that effort would quickly bear fruit. There would be a quick burst of flame, the sound of searing shrapnel, and then a near-immediate 'pull' of the air pressure inside of the tower, creating a powerful outward gust. They would be left with a smoldering hole, lined with sharpened metal and wire, right to the outside. It would be the first time they would have an idea of just how high up this place was, the cloud line only a bare hundred feet above their heads.
The point of escape was open - but if Datamon could actually break through and decipher what was controlling the Craniamon? Maybe they could figure out just what this tower was capable of.

This was a struggle. Datamon decided to assist even if it seemed against his better judgement...whatever was controlling Craniamon was stronger than what was controlling the others, that much was for certain. Whatever it was, it proved that they had to figure out how to counter it or study it for the future.
As Craniamon began to swiftly break free of his crystal and the signal proved to be strenuous on Datamon, Toki stepped forward and grabbed Craniamon's arm in an attempt to restrain him. He grit his teeth as he muttered the words "Moonblossom Style, Blessed Moonlight!" Suddenly, a shining moon appeared in the room, its light rejuvenating Toki, Datamon, KaiserGreymon, and another ally that may be within range. This extra energy pushed Toki to continue his attempt to hold back Craniamon. Hopefully the healing would aid in Datamon's endeavor.
They had an escape plan...they could leave at any point, but Toki refused. He wasn't going to let this get away, even at the risk of his own health. Enemies who got away would lead to future disasters...he knew this from experience. He still feels awful every time he thought about that Wizardmon from the forest...how it manipulated him and so many others.
Everyone was working together and doing their part. Not a single one of them was useless here. They all worked hard to ensure that the plan went well or they had a way to get out in case it got too dangerous. He couldn't allow himself to slack off. Through hardship, people grow. That much was evident with KaiserGreymon's existence. Now it was his turn to step up and push himself to remain at this stage of power as long as he could to give Datamon the time that he needs.
Life was already difficult for the people who lived in this region of the Digital World. He wasn't about to let an entire group of Digimon be threatened by something that only wants to manipulate others for its own gain. Whoever the master of this tower was, be it malevolent data or a megalomaniac, he would not allow it to win while he still stood.

They were in the home stretch, now. Dataman got right to work on helping free the Craniamon from his control. That said, Craniamon appeared to want to go down swinging. Datamon was in trouble.
Toki got right to grappling Craniamon again. KaiserGreymon entered the fray himself. With Toki ensnaring the Holy Knight from one side, the Super Mega KaiserGreymon sought to assist his ally by fastening onto Craniamon as well.
Hopefully, with the newly invigorated pair holding back the might of the black knight, Datamon could continue to break them free of their control undeterred.

This was hardly the most elegant solution - but at this point, Datamon could care less about the tactics of the situation.
The healing, of course, was helpful: the Datamon's cracked casing was quickly sealed shut once more, as the machine Digimon tried to force his way straight through the Craniamon's systems. And the physical efforts of the two Super Mega level Digimon were enough to keep the Craniamon from simply removing that 'external threat' from his back.
For a few seconds, at least. But the Craniamon soon swung his arm outward with surprising force, enough to throw Kenshimon back, and with a butt of his shoulder, the KaiserGreymon would soon follow. The Knight had fought the three of them on equal footing just a few minutes earlier, after all, and now all he had to do was reach up and...
... And...
.... Right after shoving the KaiserGreymon away, the Craniamon found himself in a new state. He didn't reach up to try and pull the machine Digimon off his back. Rather, he stood still, arms lowered to his side, the grip of his hand loosening as his precious weapon fell to the ground. That clatter coincided with another powerful spark popping off of the back of the Datamon's casing, veritable swearing coming from the small Ultimate as he worked through those last few defenses.
"... There, got it, finally!" Through 'grit teeth', the Datamon pulled back that wire, shaking his head as he pulled his way back. "O-one of you two, grab this lug and let's get out of here. We'll learn more about what this tower does to control Digimon from this guy than we would from the upper level here... tch." It might have seemed premature to leave when they could take a look just one level up, but the Datamon seemed confident in his answer:
What lied above was simply the point the signal was transmitted. Whatever true secret the tower had was likely at the base - and with an 'infected' machine in hand, they actually got far more out of this than they would otherwise. The Datamon would move next to the General, a short nod given as the group likely recollected themselves. "I'm not even sure if Mistymon would even be able to get in touch with us at this point. I'd rather not have the town question what was going on up here, yet - how far away can you get the lot of us?"

Commandramon himself was more silent as he looked on, feeling a little more like Datamon. His two fists clenched while his eyes were wide and his breathing was slow (not because he was calm but because he was deliberately focusing on it). In this moment he was questioning his own effective retreat when he left the battle and did not return. It felt dishonorable; he could still have fused again fought, at his maximum power even. But that was just the problem, he had to tell himself: Commandramon's and the army's maximum power didn't measure up to the task at hand, like trying to chop a tree with butcher knife. The tool was very similar and very useful but just not up to the job. Of course the team had turned down mercenary work for the sheer expected difficulty before, and of course sometimes one must leave a task to their betters. It was just that Commandramon wasn't used to being on this end of the situation.
"Come on, come on..." Tadayoshi couldn't stop muttering that under his breath as he sat on and watched, having unfused the Missimon from Commandramon. It really was spectacular what this trio of titans could do. From the safety of a seat within Helomon, he could still watch the human in a digimon's body, Toki - A human! - successfully subdue a fierce and frightening foe. But the real subject on which Tadayoshi's focus was fixed had to be John... or, Casimeir, rather. Or... KaiserGreymon, he supposed. Is it accurate to call them one or the other? He wasn't even sure that KaiserGreymon was entirely a digimon, but he was certain that his comrade's power was truly jaw-dropping. Tadayoshi had solved cases with his elder, shared laughs from across the table with Casimeir, and (something Tadayoshi now believed was completely absurd) as agents those two were ranked under him! They who both helped found the organization and clearly trumped the army in both experience in raw power. Unlike Commandramon who just needed to cope, Tadayoshi's state might not have been soothed by a little positive self-talk. Even if Silence ever achieves a perfect, all-inclusive fusion... I could never, ever do what those humans can do.
Anything other thought would have to wait. The yelling was getting closer, and Helomon's blades were starting to spin up. Was Datamon addressing him? Tadayoshi thought Datamon was addressing him. He needed to violently shake his own head to ground himself again. He felt extremely embarrassed when Commandramon, having noticed, answered on the General's behalf. "Helomon can take you anywhere you want to go if we make it out of this city. Everyone!" The captain was calling to the entire group while waving them over with a wide arm motion. "We should go! If you can't get out under your own power, pile in! We can take Craniumon, too"
He went on to follow his own advice by vaulting into the transport digimon, then offered a gloved paw to Datamon. He might have offered the same paw to the others, but they looked like they didn't need an extra lift in their current forms compared to his own comparatively short stature. "You did good, Datamon."
"Please fasten those harnesses securely, just in case," Helomon advised all their passengers. Evolving didn't make Hagurumon, the core, any more of a worrywart. Hopefully their concerns were unfounded.
Tadayoshi and Commandramon sat across from each other. The captain bored holes into Tadayoshi's face with his gaze. Tadayoshi looked in the general direction of a seat next to himself, avoiding the stare.
If anyone else wanted in, they had better have made their intentions known quick. Helomon was antsy. Soon as they thought they weren't leaving anyone behind they announced, "That's it, we're taking off," before doing just that. They would go on to make breakneck speed for the edge of the city. Fortunately they didn't have a face, or it would have been apparent exactly how anxious they were about a machine near that tower for a second longer than they had to. Commandramon + Missimon Launcher defused to the Missimons and Commandramon.Helomon is flying. -Dual Rotors (passive): This digimon's two front rotors provide excellent lift and stability. This makes Helomon impossible to bring to the ground unless he voluntarily lands or sustains enough damage to be defeated.

Toki supported Craniamon and carried it as its body went limp. "I will take care of Craniamon. Everyone else prepare to evacuate...we're done here." He said as Helomon came into view from the blasted open escape route. He wouldn't relax until the group was a good distance away from the tower. With a little effort he carried Craniamon over to the edge and froze slightly as the winds outside roared and it occurred to him just how high up they all were.
With a confident jump, he leapt onto Helomon with Craniamon in tow before he carefully strapped the unconscious knight into a harness. He would then stand at the edge of the vehicle and wait for anyone to need help getting on before he would step away and get settled himself. He sighed heavily and finally reverted to human form after what felt like an eternity. He sat down and secured himself, looking out towards the tower once more with a look of determination and pride of a job well done. At least he hoped so. They captured a powerful Digimon and ripped it from the clutches of whatever this was, so hopefully this means they would have plenty to learn about this place and its purpose.
He leaned back and felt the exhaustion of today's events wash over him. Still, in his ever optimistic, friendly way, he would say "Good work today everyone...let's go home. I'm...glad I was able to work with you all." He felt like they did everything they could, and in the end that's all that mattered to him. They fought hard through a series of challenges and grew from the process. Though he worried about the commander. What would he take from all of this? He felt there was nothing he could do to cheer him up. All he could hope for was that everyone could put this behind them and learn from this experience.
"We all went above and beyond...no matter what you might think. We've done something good, and I hope our efforts will lead to a better tomorrow for the people here." He said as he gazed outside at the tower.

KaiserGreymon tried his best to constrain the dark Holy Knight Digimon while Toki and Datamon did their best to rescue him from his own mental prison. Alas, he would finally be shoved away! The Super Mega stumbled backward from their foe and then fell to one knee.
Due to the overall fatigue of the battle, and from this being the first transformation the human and Digimon had achieved together, it would appear that his time of existence was finally up. THe KaiserGeymon's body shimmered, becoming bathed in light before morphing and splitting into two bodies; John and Casimeir!
As the transformation ceased, everyone was gearing up to evacuate the premises. Craniamon appeared to had been rescued by the combined efforts of all who were present. John and Casimeir groggily stood up, both quite tired and woozy from the experience they shared for the first time.
"Cas! John!" shouted Shinra, who wasted little time in scurrying over to her two best friends.
John and his Agumon partner looked down before smiling and kneeling to embrace their companion.
"Hey," John cooed, "it's okay! We're okay!"
The Agumon looked over to the rest of the group, all ready to pile into the Helomon.
"We'll have to celebrate later. Let's get out of here!"
The trio would make a run now toward Helomon. Each of them gratefully accepted Commandramon's help into the helicopter Digimon. Once inside, they made sure to strap in tight. John studied Craniamon for a bit. He had a lot to report to Sophie and Lantis alongside their Commander.

If anything, the trip inside the Helomon would prove cramped.
Even after the two larger allies reverted to their weaker forms, the decommissioned Craniamon still took up a lot of space, Datamon more-or-less putting himself into a corner as everyone else climbed aboard. With the rotors whipping above them, the group would quickly distance themselves from the tower - and thankfully, that seemed to be the end of it.
No errant signals forcing the Helomon to land. No anti-air defenses trying to bring them down. And really, the Datamon didn't want to hang around long enough to make that a possibility: as everyone else conversed among themselves, the Datamon would bring a hand up to his 'ear', communicating to their ally at ground level.
"How's it look, Mistymon?"
"I wouldn't worry about where you're at. Something happened underground - I think either the other city's group got into a scuffle - and whatever city was down here's more-or-less evacuated. Probably why you're still managing to stay in the air as you are."
"Right... of course it'd be at the base. Gonna owe that Wizardmon some bits after all this blows over." The machine Digimon shook his head, nodding towards the group. "I'm not a sentimental 'mon, but I'll take your thanks, big guy." Nodding to the Commandramon, he'd turn his attention to the group as a whole. "For now, until this breaks in the news, keep what happened here on the down-low. I'd hardly call this incident 'solved' as it is," the Datamon looked back towards the tower, "and until we do, any sort of leaks are just going to cause panic. Well, I guess its not like we can stop the other cities from reporting it how they want to. Tsk."
The machine shook his head. "We'll be delivering the Craniamon to Terminus, for containment and analysis. Hopefully, we can actually 'fix' whatever that tower did to him. Maybe even figure out if he was 'real' to begin with..."

Toki leaned back and let out a relieved sigh now that everything was finally over. He understood to keep what happened here a secret for the time being. Misinformation or panic was the last thing they all needed right now. While they didn't figure everything out, they at least managed to capture and/or rescue Craniamon so hopefully some sort of vital information will be gained from that pursuit. The origin of the tower and what its overall purpose other than control, however, is still a mystery that left a bad taste in Toki's mouth. They have done everything they could, though, and no one could fault them all for that.
Even if there was more to discover, everyone was exhausted and wouldn't be able to continue for much longer, so this was the safest way to go about it. He trusted Datamon and the technology of Terminus to be able to figure something out. All he knew for certain was that he was going to be horribly sore for the next few days, so maybe taking it easy at home for a while would be good. It's been a while since he's had a vacation.
He smiled weakly at John and Casimeir "You both did an excellent job...it was amazing fighting by your side and seeing you two reach new heights." He said, glad to have worked together with them. He still wasn't exactly sure what to say to Tadayoshi or his team, unfortunately. This was a pretty harrowing experience for all of them but it seemed Tadayoshi was affected most by it. He didn't have any sage advice that would just make everything better and once again opted to leave him be.
Once again, he looked out the window of Helomon before he leaned back to get some well-deserved sleep on the way back. There may have been some loose ends to tie up in the future, but worrying about them now would not do him any good.

John and Casimeir smiled impishly when they received Toki's praise. They had a relatively similar opinion about their team member.
"Thanks!" they replied in unison. John then spoke from there. "You weren't too bad yourself! It's amazing that a human can transform into a Digimon. We've met Spirit Wielders before. But we've never seen one fight a SUper Mega like you did today. Seriously, great work!"
John then looked to his Commander. Poor guy still seemed troubled about the whole mission.
"Hey," he began, in a soft voice, "you did great out there, Tadayoshi. You and your team work extremely well under pressure. Cas and I are proud to be working for you, without a doubt."

This was Silence's chance to catch its breath, and so they did in they did in the literal sense. Tadayoshi was only now realizing how much his heart was racing in this moment when it didn't need to. He slumped in his seat and let his head hang to one side as he panted for the oxygen his heart was still trying to pump. Commandramon, then, was the one who answered Datamon. "I don't know how you intend to cover up a city of slaves, but we'll certainly let you try." It seemed Commandramon was agreeing with Datamon's request but questioning it all the same. "Helomon, you heard him. Head east toward Terminus."
"Yes, captain." It was at this moment that a quick look out the cabin let the passengers know they were clearing the edge of the city.
Tadayoshi didn't answer the the others right away, and that wasn't just because he had to catch his breath. He gave John a reflexive, "Thank you," and paused there for a spell. "...I feel like an ant amongst gods after that," said the boy who harnessed the power to fuse extradimensional entities into weapons of war. "I hope you're right, Toki. I hope we did something good. I hope Craniumon will be OK." The boy eyed the floor. "We'll do better."
"Agreed. We aren't leaving in the state of things." Commandramon looked back at the machine city, which looked nothing like his rural warrior village and yet reminded him strongly of it. The soldier knew a little something about living under the thumb of an oppressive authority, and what could be more oppressive than this? "Silence willl be back here soon," the soldier vowed, "If it turns out to be you all who join us, all the better."
