From "The First"“Think we got it?”
“Just about. Even getting a landing on this thing’s gonna be tricky.”
“Well, just make sure we do in the next few minutes. Group’s coming, and with things happening this fast, that place ain’t gonna wait for us forever.” With that observation, Datamon found himself giving a sigh. “Though what I wouldn’t give to be anywhere else right now…”
He mumbled that last bit, but really, what was going on here? Sure, this group was meeting a good few miles away from the city, but why did Terminus think it was a good idea to send another Machine type out to look at this stuff? He could see it now: if things went wrong, whether or not it was his fault, whether or not he would be in a position to make things not wrong, he was still going to get blamed for it. Worse, his normal partner was off trying to sort out things in the lower levels.
The accompanying Mistymon (X), on the other hand, maintained a rather stoic pose. With his sword sheathed at his side, all of his focus was on the single crystal ball, floating between his hands, scrying through towards the tower off in the horizon. For a group that was about to explore the upper reaches of the tower, there was not a single airship, vehicle, or inconspicuously placed cannon in sight – so, clearly, the sorcerer here had something to do with it.
… It just made him not much for conversation. And though Datamon usually chided his partner for being too expressive, well, he found himself missing that now.

As inhospitable, bitter, and just plain hot as the Folder Desert was, Tadayoshi thought that arriving at the rendezvous point in a loud, obvious helicopter - Helomon - just wouldn't do. The dust stirred up by the landing could give the whole group away, and the digimon in flight itself was prone to being spotted. With a threat level that could be anywhere between null and apocalyptic, Tadayoshi wasn't in the mood to take chances. So, he and his comrades travelled the old-fashioned way: on the ground. That is, if you consider rolling around in an M1126 'old fashioned.' It took a real monster of a vehicle to fit the army's needs: armor, a cannon, high weight capacity, and environmental resistance. Fitted with a few upgrades, this thing had nothing to fear but fear itself. It certainly didn't want for seating space; almost the entire army was out of the Loader with the exception of Deckerdramon and Rashi the Rukamon, and yet both John and Casimeir also had their own seats as well as all the leg room they needed. Make no mistake: this wasn't a luxury car with cupholders and satellite radio. It wasn't comfortable. But it did the job. One of those very important jobs was shielding its occupants from the harsh desert, something its energy glove was doing quite exceptionally right now. That was certainly a morale boost if nothing else. Besides Deckerdramon, only Commandramon wasn't in the back. That was because he knew better than to let anybody drive this thing but himself - even Tadayoshi didn't get that privelege, though this was something the boy felt no need to argue about. He was just fine not driving the not-quite-a-tank-but-yeah-it's-a-tank in his eyes. At some point the soldier called at his passengers, "We're just arriving!" The APC still kicked up significant dust as it rolled up to the rendezvous point, but it sure beat a helicopter landing. When the bulky carrier came to a complete stop, the rear door opened and the army poured out. There was Kamushi, the little Searchmon with a big, big mouth. "Yeesh! I feel like I'm gonna melt out here! This is- BZZZZZZZRT!" Kamushi was momentarily interrupted by one of his glitches, but he went on like nothing happened. "-cruel and unusual, boss!""For once I'm with bug boy," grumbled one of the two Rocketmon who hovered out together." "That's not the general's fault, though..." Even though Hyde's twin, Jekyll, was trying to defend their human, he mumbled it much less courageously than his brother. "The faster we finish investigating, the faster we can all quit complaining," was how female Jetmon got her two suboordinates to stop arguing before they could really start. "Why don't we just knock it down and be done with this whole thing?" Angel, the perpetually bloodthirsty BlackTerriermon, quite unelpfully suggested. Unfortunately, each of the six Missimon who shot out after her just egged her on. "Yeah-"
"-let's-"
"-own-"
"-this-"
"-dumb-"
"-tower!" Each of them only said one word of that sentence. How did each know where the other was going? It was one of the world's great mysteries. As eight MetalKoromon floated out the back in the most perfect, even single-file line anyone had ever seen, their scattered beeping noises obviously meant something. However, best of luck would have to come to whosoever tried to understand exactly what their mechanical gibberish meant. Hagurumon wasn't entirely sure they should step in, but they did awkwardly stammer, "Y-you're just kidding, right?""Nah, you know the kids, man! They mess around," the Strabimon named Dakota reassured them with a friendly pat on the back. Angel looked like she was about to say something, but the Strabimon managed to head her off. "They're joking." When he insisted that he continued grinning, but he also seemed to be speaking more to Angel than Hagurumon. "Well, at least someone is in a good mood," was Tadayoshi's impartial observation of that interaction as he stepped down the APC's ramp. He called to the pair of digimon waiting for them, "Hello! My name is Tadayoshi Teppei, and this is my team." He bowed along with that, and when he rose he held out his digivice. " "You can reload here."When that digimon did, it became clear why he wasn't in the carrier: even with a space upgrade there was still no room. Deckerdramon was bigger than the vehicle itself! His voice was gravelly, but his tone was gentle as he expressed, "Greetings," with an inclined head. "And I'm here, too!" That last voice sounded like it came from a young boy in the Xros Loader, but actually it came from a young Rukamon in the Xros Loader. "Just in case."Commandramon was silent as he took his rightful place at Tadayoshi's side, making eye contact with the Datamon while keeping his ARX rifle pointed safely at the sand. Silence was assembled.

After spending much of his time either at the Monastery in the Blossom Isles or catching up with things back in the Human World, Toki was rested up and ready to tackle the next bizarre challenge the Digital World was facing. He seemed to be in a rather positive mood despite the walk through the desert to make it to their meeting point. All this time and he still never got around to getting even a personal vehicle for himself, but he didn't seem any worse for wear.
He drank from one of his many stored water bottles as he walked along the sands. This place was always rather nostalgic for Toki. This was where he got the spirit of Antylamon and where he first met Aylin. Currently Aylin was back at the Monastery resting. She had mentioned to Toki that one day she wanted to set out on her own adventures since the Monastery was starting to gather people to work for it and Toki was totally on board with the idea.
Either way, he made it to the meeting point and greeted Datamon and Mistymon. In what may be a relief to Datamon, he didn't seem all that worried about traveling with a machine Digimon in this context "Hey everyone." He said with a smile. "So as soon as everyone's gathered together, we'll be ready to go, right? I'm ready for whatever lies ahead." He said confidently.
He whistled, impressed at the site of the military transport rolling in. Out came a miniature army of Digimon along with their human partner, a man named Tadayoshi. With the sheer amount of Digimon, Toki could only assume he was a Xros General, much like Denryu. So many different personalities at once, some of which clashed with each other. Hopefully they would all remain organized for the mission at hand, but he didn't seem to worry too much. "Nice to meet you, everybody. I'm Toki Akiyama. I look forward to working with you all." He said to Tadayoshi and his team.
He stretched and looked around. Soon, the rest of the team would gather up. "Well this tower certainly is strange, but I wouldn't jump to too many conclusions until we figure out what this tower is and why it's here. We should go in and see if we can communicate with anyone, see if we can get information that way. I'd like to avoid conflict whenever possible, but I've learned to be prepared for it just in case." He said. It did worry him what this tower might represent or what it could be capable of, but until he got the story from the people working on it, he would try to communicate peacefully.

Amelie was, in all honesty, a person who didn’t care about fancy entrances or tiring trips. As such, it came as no surprise that the only clue anyone present would get about her oncoming presence was the electronic whirring of a digiport being opened. From it, two brunettes emerged; a tall one, with dark brown hair and blue eyes, and a shorter one, with a lighter shade of brown hair and amber eyes. The two were dressed to fit the occasion; long, flowing sand-colored cloaks covered most of their features and served to block the annoying, sand-filled winds, all while providing a bit of solace in the face of the merciless heat.
“Hi there, everyone. Guess we’re the last ones to arrive, aren’t we? It’s good to see everyone is doing well.” Amelie and her companion proceeded to wave at everyone present. Her greeting seemed to be a little more vivacious when directed at Toki; a known face when dealing with a situation like this one was always a welcome sight!
“Name’s Amelie, and this is my daughter Loire. Pleased to meet you all; I kinda wanted to come on my own, but she insisted on coming along, so there’s that.”
A pretty accusatory glance was shot upwards. “You’re such a spoilsport, y’know? I just wanted to help! And to know this place. Never been in the Flatlands! Anyway, hope we can all get along! I’m excited to get started!”
The young brunette got a shrug as response, even though it was quickly followed by a smile on Amy’s part. “We know the rough outline of this mission and I guess everyone’s ready to go, but I wanted to know if there’s any details we should have into account regarding it or something of the like. Every bit of information we can get our hands on should be pretty helpful.”
As fun as socializing and meeting new people was, that wasn’t quite the group’s task here. Their mission seemed to be pretty important, and every minute they wasted probably decreased their chances at being successful.

Tadayoshi and the Xros Army weren't the only ones to evacuate the Armored Personnel carrier upon its arrival. Coming out right behind the General were John and his partners, Casimeir and Shinra; an Agumon and Armadillomon. They, too, were members of AEGIS, just as Tadayoshi was.
John covered the brim of his forehead with a shielding hand while he surveyed the mysterious large structure in the epicenter of the brand new city. The man was a bit concerned about the possible repercussions that could arise with the new settlement's sudden appearance. On the other hand, he was slightly excited, and even hopeful, that it could lead to new prosperity in this corner of the Digital World.
Now, John and his team granted the others with their attention and a warm smile on each of their faces.
"Hello everyone," John started, giving a light wave to accent his friendly demeanor. "It's nice to meet you all. My name's Johnathon, but, you can call me John for short."
The Agumon was next to chime in with his greeting. "Hey there! I'm Casimeir the Agumon. Whatever happens, we'll do our best to make sure we succeed today!"
"And I'm Shinra the Armadillomon," Shinra concluded with a wave of her paw. "I hope we can be friends!"

Well, it was clear which of the three groups made the loudest approach! As the Mistymon maintained his focus, the Datamon was left somewhat dumbfounded as the first group to arrive came in such a boisterous fashion. Between the gas-guzzling piece of antique war machinery - and a number of figures that just looked like they were from the set of an 80s war flick - the Datamon couldn't help but find himself giving a sigh, pinching his fingers right up against his nonexistent sinuses.
If nothing else, such a display of metal and dust definitely made it easier for the rest of the group to slip in! "Yes, hi, hello." Awkwardly introducing himself to Tadayoshi, his attention turned towards Toki. "We might have a minute or two. Our sorcerer over there's sorta the bottleneck to even approaching the tower in a decent way. Though, I don't think this is going to be much of a communication nor a destruction effort. Eh, I'll explain it when the rest get here. Speaking of..."
Next was Amy, and 'John', though the latter seemed to be here from the start. John earned a small nod, and Amy, a comment: "Heck of a thing to bring your kid too, isn't it?" Well, it didn't seem 'literal' - even with the holosuit, Datamon's sensors picked up that Loire was some kind of Digimon - but the sentiment was still there!
"Right then! Thank you all for coming out here on such short notice. The mission guild sounds like it went a bit crazy last night with all of the sudden requests, but for this group, specifically, time's of the essence. Mistymon?"
"... Right." The sorcerer tempered his focus, and addressed the group. Though, he really couldn't do much more than speak, still having to face the tower and focus the spell: "To put it bluntly, whatever happened to bring that "Tower" into existence didn't come through natural means. That's obvious, yes, but there's a reason I bring that up."
"The tower has only existed since early this morning, and at this point, its not even noon. A small town might have sprouted up around the base itself, and the lower levels of the Tower might be fairly well occupied. But the higher up one looks, the less and less likely that anyone has even reached that point yet."
"As such," the Datamon added, "When we talk about the upper levels, the number of things we'll likely run into are somewhat limited. Pre-programmed traps, automatic defenses, as well as Digimon or figures responsible for summoning the tower in the first place. If we're lucky and we take the chance, and the Tower was summoned at the base, we might be able to explore the upper levels of this tower before they would even have a chance to. But, simply flying up there would be obvious and we'd be detected outright. Hence our magical buddy over there." The Datamon whirred, the Mistymon returning a nod.
"The spell's about done. Once the glyph is prepared, I will teleport the lot of you a good ways into the upper third of the tower. There's solid ground based on where I'm scrying - though we may want to consider out weight footprint a little bit."
That much was directed at Tadayoshi's group. "I'll be heading along with you all. Now, will Loire be coming with us, or keeping Mistymon company as he focuses on the exit portal?"

Toki smiled happily as the others arrived and introduced themselves to the rest of the group. Amelie was familiar since they met some time ago, but haven't really touched bases since. Still, having an acquaintance around was comforting. He looked over at Loire and tilted his head, slightly confused. That confusion went away immediately once he pieced together that Loire was more than likely a Digimon. Amelie's daughter...it made him think of Aylin for a little while. Aylin was such a dear friend to him. Did he think of her as a daughter like Tsusagimon did? Would that make Aylin happy? He actually paused to think about that for a moment before his focus returned to the here and now. "It's good to see you again, Amelie. I'm glad you've been well."
Why did John seem so familiar? They've never really spent any time speaking to each other before...wait. He remembered, way back when he was just starting to explore the Digital World! The Spires! He fought alongside John at some point as a rookie to take out one of the Spires so long ago. How far the both of them have come...he waved over "Not sure if you remember me, John, but it's good to be working together again."
Now for the mission. It seems the group was going to be teleported far up the tower to do some investigative work. Diplomacy didn't seem to be the aim of this particular mission, which Toki found unfortunate. Stealth and espionage were arguably his weakest points, but he would remain either way to provide his support however he could.
He thought about the threats they would face "I'm worried that such an entrance would foster distrust and hostility, especially if we're engaged as a threat by the defense systems. I understand that it's what we have to do for the sake of information, however." He said with a nod. "So once we're up there, what's our goal? See what's at the top of the tower and maybe who's in charge? That's what I'm getting here, anyway." He said. Suspicious as this tower was, Toki couldn't help but worry about what could happen or what purpose it could serve. Which is why they were heading up there to investigate. "I'm ready to leave whenever the rest of you are. Just say the word."

"I agree with the approach. We have no idea who they are," Commandramon responded, "And I suppose our goal here is simply to learn whatever we can about it. It can be hard to define specific objectives without a specific information base already. To that end, Kamushi."
"Yessir, Mr. Captain Boss, sir!" The little Searchmon set himself down right by the soldier digimon's feet, and it was clear to probably everyone that his over-the-top title of respect wasn't entirely sincere.
"The client mentioned a possible broadcast signal from the tower. Patch in and see what you can hear. Perhaps we can learn something without even setting foot inside."
"You - BRZZZT - got it, boss!" After Kamushi evenly distributed each of his feet, the dish on his back began to softly whir. This was the sound of it moving, making slight adjustments on its X-axis, Y-axis, and even spinning around in intervals as he searched for the right frequency. "Right there and a little to the left... No, wait, that's the visible light spectrum... Almost..." When Kamushi's eyes went wide and he finally held his dish steady, it became clear that he thought he'd managed to tune in. At first that might have seemed like good news, but in only a couple of seconds he began to glitch again. "BRZZZZZZZZZZRZRRRTZTTZZZZZZRZTZRZTZRZTZRZTZRZTZ!!!!!!!!!!"
"Kamushi? Are you OK?" The bug didn't even give any indication he'd heard his general. He continued to crackle and buzz without any apparent control over it. "He never gets like this!"
"Recall him, sir!"
"Kamushi, withdraw!" On the boy's command, the Xros Loader was able to suck the struggling bug right back in, at which point his otherwise incessant buzzing finally ceased. "What happened?"
"That was some serious no-no bad stuff, big boy!" The poor Kamushi whined, "All I could hear was ten sextillion nails on chalkboards! Do you have any idea what ten sextillion nails on chalkboards feels like?" The boy recoiled; he'd accidentally imagined it.
"Was there anything else?"
"No way, boss! There's definitely something in the airwaves, boys, but that's all you're gonna get outta me!"
"It's OK. Thank you."
"Sir, I suggest StealthSealsdramon for this infiltration if we don't need to fly." Even though he was looking at Tadayoshi, Commandramon's volume suggested that he wanted the whole group to hear.
"Oh, heck, yeah! I love that one," Dakota the Strabimon assented.
"I agree." When the General held out his Loader, he declared, "Everyone else, please withdraw." They did, after which his next maneuver was, "Kamushi, standby."
Kamushi became corporeal once again, but not without complain. "Come on, big boy, I thought we were friends!"
"You don't have to do that again. Now, Commandramon, Dakota, and Kamushi-" The boy's screen began to shine very brightly.
"-Yes, sir!"
"-All set!"
"-I hear ya!"
The Loader screen flashed. "-digixros!" On the boy's command, those three digimon each transformed into a little shining balls which began to ascend upwards. At first it was slow, but they all rapidly began to ascend and chase each other in a triple helix formation. At the height of it all three balls converged, and from that sprang a strong and sturdy Sealsdramon. What made him a bit different from some others was that this one was much better-armed; this one carried something resembling a Beretta Mx4 Storm, and there were two more handguns strapped to his waist.
"...StealthSealdramon!"
adayoshi's final prep work was to stow away his armored carrier in his vehicle. Convenient. "If it's alright with you, he could be our scout."
[Noncombat] Fly On The Wall (passive): With this digimon's sensitive dish, he may be able to intercept, decrypt, and listen in on communications and broadcasts over airwaves.

Everyone seemed like they were itching to get started. That was a good thing! Sure, there was Datamon who had decided to comment a bit snippily, but who could blame him? Amelie couldn’t help but to smirk at it.
“Didn’t have a choice, y’know.” She replied with a shrug. “It was probs more likely for neither of us to come than for me to come alone.”
“Yep! There was no way I’m missing this! The whole plan sounds so exciting!”
Could this be the equivalent of a teenager wanting to go out for the first time? Quite likely, but at least a parental figure could oversee the whole deal. The taller brunette had to admit, however, that Toki had a point.
“This kind of advance isn’t the friendly type. And if our group gets found out, well… I can’t see anything else than hostilities breaking out. But that’s a risk we’re willing to take, isn’t it?”
The plan laid out by Mistymon and Datamon sounded as solid as it could be, and with that, the group was pretty much ready to go. Except with one exception, it seemed! Did Datamon really ask if Loire would miss the action altogether? Amy had to repress a giggle.
“You crazy, right? There’s no way I…”
Luckily, that phrase was interrupted before Loire had the opportunity to be rude.
“If Mistymon needs company, I can stay back, but I think that leaving her here is kinda non-negotiable. Right?”
A vigorous nod from the small girl would probably mark the end of that conversation. Least to say, the two were ready to begin! They were pretty much waiting for Mistymon’s spell to be completed.

There were some new faces which John and his crew were meeting for the first time, save for one. John didn't fully recognize Toki at first. But when the younger adult approached him and spoke, a distant memory began to take fruition.
John's face lit up with a warm grin from ear to ear. "Oh, hey!" he exclaimed. "I remember you now! We fought against the Black Spire! In the Binary Archipelago! How've you been since then?"
Yikes, that sure was a long time ago. Even if that battle transpired two years ago, it almost felt like an eternity had passed. It was easy for John to reminisce on distant memories.
While Mistymon prepared her spell, John and his group found themselves plotting out potential paths they may have to take once actually inside the tower. And poor Kamushi. Whatever he was attempting to translate, the origin of its frequency didn't seem to want any nosy interlopers listening in.
"I guess we'll see what we'll be dealing with once inside," Casimeir sighed.

"You have a point." Datamon gave a nod to Toki's concern. "However, as far as 'distrust' goes, that's a two-way street. This entire situation is more-or-less unprecedented. As for your goal?"
"Figure out the purpose of the tower, and then act as needed, should anything untoward be happening. I'll be heading up with you as well, but as you can see," the Datamon nodded towards the panicking Searchmon, "not everything will be so friendly." As the machine was recalled, the Datamon called over: "You lot doing alright, over there?"
Perhaps machines would have a rougher time with this entire mess - or, perhaps having a team of machines would give this group a bit of additional insight as to just what was going on.
At any rate, it seemed like the entire group was going, with Loire earning a nervous chuckle from the Datamon. At that moment, the Mistymon's eyes opened, both of his palms extending forward. Before him would appear a large blue glyph, the magical circle flattening the sand into a platform in front of him. "Triangulation complete. Your return point will be the same point you enter in on - you'll have four hours to pull this off."
Four hours - either a very long time, or not nearly enough, but it was the extent of what the Mistymon could offer! "Alright, all aboard, then!" The Datamon would lead, leading the group right onto the glyph. Once the entire group was aboard, the Mistymon would clench his palms together, the group vanishing in a flash... ... And would appear, a mere instant later, standing atop a near-identical red glyph, emblazoned on a metal floor.
But that was about all that was 'normal' about this place: the floor and the ceiling were made of a normal, grey metal, but the walls of the tower were something entirely different. Rather than being opaque, the walls were strictly transparent, the group able to look in any direction and see the vast expanse of desert of the surrounding area. The only thing obscuring their view was an off-white ink on the walls, written in some sort of ancient digital script, a complicated and non-repeating pattern scrawled over the entire wall.
Past that, the 'room' that the group had entered into was better described as a floor: this one room was the entire width of the tower, with a ramp going downwards to their left, and a ramp going upwards to their right. Was this same pattern repeated the entire way?
Or would the group even notice such details, compared to what was right in front of them? Before them, right in the center of the room, was a large glass-like cylinder, and within it was a radiant beam of energy, surging upwards towards the top of the tower at an alarming rate. Even for a tower of this size, the Datamon had to question:
"What could be generating that much energy? No, more than that, why would they need that much energy?"
The Datamon craned his nonexistent neck up, trying to see where the energy led up from there. "Tch... I don't like this. If anyone is here, then I'm sure we're not going to go unnoticed - yup, there it goes." Curse his timing, really: it didn't take long for the group to trip 'something' with their mere presence, the white ink on the walls quickly taking a crimson color. Some sort of alarm? A trap?
There's not enough cover to make this a stealth or espionage - if you got a form that can fight, take it now!"

It was a good thing that John and his crew were used to near-instantaneous transports in their ongoing career. So being teleported in such a way hardly phased the three. Well, except for the Armadillomon. Her eyes had some comical spirals swirling within them; a telltale sign that she was quite dizzy.
"Woah...Gonna...have to get used to that," Shinra murmured. She shook her head to rid herself of any residual nausea.
John looked down to her with a concerned gaze. "Don't worry Shinra, you'll get used to it pretty quickly. Though I can get why it's a bit jarring...That was way different than using a portal."
The whole group was now in the mysterious tower. John took this short break to get a general idea of his surroundings. Metal floors and ceilings; the general structures found in a building. What caught him off guard, though, were the near-transparent walls that revealed the outside world. A childlike sense of wonder filled John to the brim. He looked longingly out to the horizon. Recollections of visits to New York easily came to mind.
That was, until, the surrounding structure took on an ominous red color. But there were no alarms blaring, so, it was hard to tell exactly what was happening. Datamon, on the one hand, was quick to guess the worst possible outcome. Pleading the group to Digivolve was not a good sign. But, John and his team had other ideas.
"Hold on," pleaded John, glancing at those around him. Despite his outward calm, John's heart was racing against his ribs. "I say we keep to our current levels and see what happens when the welcome wagon comes to meet us. We don't have to immediately assume they want to hurt us. I think we should try diplomacy first. And if that fails? Well, we can take whatever they throw at us."
Casimeir nervously rubbed the back of his head. "I think John's got a point. Why not explain that we're ambassadors or something?"

There was something about this tower's existence that just seemed off. What exactly drew the machine Digimon to it and why was it doing so? Was it even doing that or were they coming here of their own volition to investigate as well? He shook his head and simply prepared himself for the mission ahead, since that was the important part at the moment. The answers would more than likely await the group once they're inside the tower itself.
He took a deep breath and prepared himself as Mistymon completed the spell. In an instant the entire group was gathered, they were warped high into the tower. So far so good, but this area was simply fascinating. "It seems like...this tower's sole purpose, at least from a glance, is to channel whatever that energy is." He said. Though from that, he realized there were grim implications with this information. "...They could be...siphoning energy from the Digital World itself. Whatever this tower is doing, just from a glance I can assume it's likely nothing good..." He said, clearly worried. "That or there's some power source deep beneath the sands it's getting energy from. We can't know for sure yet."
However, their mission was to discover the tower's purpose, not necessarily the source of the energy. John made a valid point. They should do their best to avoid being perceived as a threat in case whatever was coming would demand to know what they were doing here. On the other hand, Toki wanted to be as prepared as possible in case things go badly.
He took out his Digivice and generated a large string of code around his free hand "The form I'll take always seems to calm those who see it, at least in my experience. Besides, if they're aggressive I'll have a way to defend us from an initial attack." He said as he swiped the code. In a swift flash of light, Toki had taken his Mega level form of ZenCherubimon, the ever calming presence that was nonetheless very powerful in its own way.
The question now was what kind of defense were they going to deal with? Automated? Personnel? Both? If it was automated then battle would likely be the only action to take. "Keep an eye on both stairwells as well as any movement in the ceiling or floor. Turrets always seem to emerge from hidden panels." He said. He unfortunately had experience with that sort of scenario.

Once matters were settled, the group was ready to go. Both Amelie and Loire were ready for the teleporting ability, even though neither of them knew what to expect on the other side. Was it surprising what they found? Not exactly, even though, at least at the start, it resulted in a fairly plain panorama.
It only took an exhalation from the taller for things to take a drastic turn, and not exactly in the right direction. Everything began to glow red, and Datamon told the group to assume combat positions. Both women were about to do that, at least until John pleaded with the group to hold off such an attempt in favor of seeking a more peaceful solution. Something that was… fine, all things considered. In all honesty, not Amelie’s preferred method to engage a situation like this one but they could give it a shot, even if it meant leaving herself defenseless for the time being.
“Wanna try to negotiate, huh? I can maintain my form for the time being, especially since my spirits don’t look very… friendly, for the lack of a better word.” What it was, then? To remain in their position and wait? With any luck, being patient in such a situation wouldn’t end up becoming a mistake.
“I’m counting on you to keep the more fragile members of the group safe. At least until we can react.” The comment didn’t seem to be directed to anyone in particular, even though little Loire took it to heart. She hadn’t shed her form just yet, but she could do it at the drop of a hat if necessary.
What now, then? They just had to keep an eye in case anything hidden sprang and… wait.

"Are you insane?" Tadayoshi wasn't as appalled about John suggesting intentionally exposing the team to harm as he was about most of the rest agreeing with him.
"They'll be targets!" StealthSealsdramon cried.
Tadayoshi thought he had to act fast to protect others, so he didn't consult anyone about his own plan. "Defuse!" StealthSealsdramon became the three digimon that made him up in an instant, but it didn't stop there. "MetalKoromon, Angel, Deckerdramon, all standby."
The MetalKoromon each beeped in a do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do ascending scale.
"Hell, yeah!"
"OK."
"If you're not gonna digivolve, then stay behind something. Dakota, Kamushi, Angel, MetalKoromon-"
"-all set, man!"
"Bring it on!"
"BZZZZZZZT- Ready!"
Each MetalKoromon beeped twice.
"Digi-xros!" Tadayoshi didn't even watch them all become Shutmon because he thought he had more important things to worry about. "Commandramon, Deckerdramon-"
"-Aye."
"Digi-xros!" This pair of digimon became MetalSeadramon, seeing as Commandramon super evolved during the process. All those rapid fusion drills were really paying off!
Shutmon positioned himself in front of John and his company, blades low but not completely relaxed. MetalSeadramon set himself between the nearest entrance and the mother-daughter duo. Normally I'd want to set a trap at the ramps here, but we're stuck! He screamed internally with frustration despite his cool outward appearance. His breath started to rise a little. What happened? What blew our cover? he wondered as he put himself behind Toki's rabbit form.
