The sight of Octavio's group was certainly drawing attention as they approached Rosewood via Trailmon. Or at least some of them did, due to the heavily-armed mechanical goliath riding in the passenger car. MetalKhimeramon's unique physiology rendered it impossible for him to fit in a seat, so he merely sat in the middle of the car as Tartar fussed over him. The recent addition of Soundwave the Ballistamon and Laserbeak the Laserichmon to the Xros Army's roster was a boon, yet also needed a bit of an adjustment period as the two weren't exactly the most sociable with the other yet (Soundwave's staunch loyalty to Octavio being the main exception).
"Even after traveling from Terminus all the way to Rosewood, your internal power level is still in the green. The new generator seems to be functioning within acceptable tolerance margins." Tartar explained, reading the data on a tablet that was connected to the back of MetalKhimeramon's neck. "All in all, this upgrade appears to be a success."
"As happy as I am to see the big guy finally be able to travel as he pleases, why did you drag us all the way to Rosewood for this? Wouldn't it have been better to keep him in Terminus to make it easier to bring him home if his new battery didn't work as well as we'd hoped?" Belle asked, tapping her claws against the armrest of her seat in boredom.
"*Sigh* We won't always be in Terminus, so we need to see how MetalKhimeramon's power holds up on extended trips." Tartar irritably countered. "In addition, if we needed to recharge him in the field, our MetalKabuterimon Xros form's electrical abilities would be sufficient enough to recharge MetalKhimeramon in an emergency."
"Whatever. Just don't expect me to carry him if that doesn't work." Belle flippantly replied. At this point in time, Laserbeak had decided to pester Belle by messing with her hair with his beak, much to the Tinkermon's chagrin a she tried swatting the bird away.

"Kaya, we need to be cautious... I sense something very bad about these two."
"We're called Bio-Hybrids... part human, part Digimon, superior to all of you in every way imaginable. And right now, you losers are in the way of our job, so get outta the way or prepare to be crushed!"
"HAWKEYE, LOOK OUT! HAWKEEEEYE!" "Kaya!"
The blonde teenager was snapped back to reality as she heard her partner's voice. She turned her head to the left, where Hawkeye was sitting on the Trailmon seat next to her. That's right, the two of them were going to visit the friends they had in Rosewood, see how everyone was holding up. Kaya figured that she must've just zoned out while Hawkeye was trying to explain something to her. "I'm sorry, what?"
"Were you listening to anything I said?"
"Of course, I... *sigh* no, I wasn't."
"Is... everything alright?" he asked, putting a wing on her hand. "You looked as if you were zoning out."
"It's nothing," Kaya lied as she took off her hat and brushed her hand through her hair. "Just didn't get a good night's sleep last night, is all. Probably because of your snoring."
"You know as well as I do that I don't snore," Hawkeye retorted. "If anyone is the snorer, it's you."
"As if!" Kaya laughed as she playfully pushed her partner. In reality, Kaya was merely pushing her feelings of what happened that day down within her. It wasn't the Bio-Hybrids she was primarily afraid of... no, they aren't nearly as terrifying as ExD. It's what the Bio-Hybrids made her realize that scared her... that Hawkeye wouldn't be around forever. She didn't know if she could face it when it happens... would it happen? No... Kaya would do everything in her power to prevent that. Hawkeye was her best friend, and she wasn't going to let anything happen to him.
Of course, it was hard to ignore the giant freaking mech Digimon that was just in the middle of the train car. From what Kaya and Hawkeye could see, it looked like an amalgamation of all different types of mechanical Digimon... a lot like a Khimeramon, in that sense. It seemed to be with a group of seven, count them, SEVEN Digimon. Were they a Xros Army? If so, where was their human general?
"That's quite a big Digimon you got there," Kaya said to the group as she leaned her arms on the seat in front of her.

Kaya's sudden statement would end up startling Belle, since it was the Tinkermon's seat Kaya was currently leaning against. The startled fairy would end up jumping out of her seat and accidentally headbutting Laserbeak and sending the mechanical bird crashing to the floor.
"Ow." Belle grumbled, rubbing her sore forehead as she collapsed back into her seat. The Tinkermon would do her best to tilt her head backward in order to look at Kaya before responding to the teen's statement. "Jeez, maybe give us a little warning next time? You scared the crap out of me."
"[You can't do this to me! This is animal abuse!]" Laserbeak squawked as he flopped around on the floor. "[I'll sue you for every penny you've got, you punk-a** fairy!]"
"LASERBEAK, LANGUAGE." Soundwave dully responded in his usual monotone, not even looking away from the book he was currently reading.
"If you'd like, I could check to make sure you aren't damaged, Laserbeak." Tartar added, rotating his head a full 180 degrees like an owl's in order to give the Laserichmon a look that clearly stated that that wouldn't be a pleasant experience.
"[Ooooh, no. You are NOT using me as a science experiment, Dr. Frankenstein!]" Laserbeak retorted, a hint of actual nervousness in his tone as he quickly scrambled back and fluttered back up onto Soundwave's shoulder.
"Hn, as I thought." Tartar smugly replied. If the Kokuwamon X's face was physically capable of emoting, he would definitely be smirking right now. The implication of physical harm was usually the only way to keep the rowdy bird in line without Soundwave himself being involved.
In one of the front seats, Octavio merely sighed and facetentacled at his Xros Army's antics. Next to him, Soundblaster quietly chugged down some coffee from an oversized thermos. "How does our team actually function again?"
"I have no clue, Soundblaster. I have no clue."
With that whole mess going on, the Xros Army would end up completely forgetting that Kaya had just inquired about MetalKhimeramon.

Well, that certainly wasn't what Kaya was expecting. The moment she made her presence known to the group, the Tinkermon suddenly jumped out of her seat and headbutted the mechanical bird Digimon she was with, causing it to crash onto the floor. Kaya sweatdropped in response. "Eheheh... whoops... sorry about that..."
The mechanical bird Digimon then started squawking repeatedly as it flopped over on the ground. To Kaya, it was just nonsensical squawk noises, but Hawkeye could understand everything that the little Digimon was saying. After one of the Ballistamons criticized his language, Hawkeye would add, "It was merely an accident, not animal abuse. Stop overreacting."
Of course, Kaya was very confused by this. "Eh? You can understand him?"
"You can't?" Hawkeye asked, causing the two of them to look at each other with looks of bemusement.
The Kokuwamon-X with the group then creepily turned his head 180 degrees like an owl, focusing his vision on "Laserbeak" and saying he could check to see if he wasn't damaged. The look this robotic bug was making suggested that he definitely had some ulterior motives with this suggestion, causing Laserbeak to nervously decline and flutter back up to that previous Ballistamon's shoulder. It was at this point that Kaya and Hawkeye realized that this army was beyond dysfunctional.
"Doctor Frankenstein..." Hawkeye repeated as he glanced back at the Kokuwamon-X. Was he truly some kind of mad scientist? If that turned out to be true, Hawkeye would probably have to make it a point to keep his abilities secret. He didn't exactly have a desire to be experimented on, after all.
"So, you guys are like a Xros Army, right?" Kaya asked. "Hawkeye and I haven't really met one before, but I'm pretty sure that they all have a general. Where's your guys' general?"

Hawkeye's criticism earned him an irritated Laserbeak giving him the stink-eye. "[Mind your own business, Feathers. I have the right to overreact or under-react as much as I d***-well please. I can blow out your eardrums if you'd rather have that!]"
Soundwave quickly reacted to Laserbeak's threat by unceremoniously grabbing his partner and forcefully shoving him into his chest compartment in order to prevent the bird from causing more of a scene. Even then, you could still faintly hear Laserbeak's incoherent screams of rage coming from the blue Ballistamon's chest if you listened closely enough. "APOLOGIES. LASERBEAK BEHAVIOR, UNACCEPTABLE."
When Kaya asked about the team's Xros General, Octavio tried turning around to look at Kaya, but was too short to actually look over the back of his seat. "Soundblaster, help me out here."
The black-and-yellow Ballistamon's response was to lift the ShogunOctomon up with one hand while holding his thermos with the other hand.
"Thanks, buddy," Octavio whispered, before shifting his attention back to Kaya and pulling out his somewhat beat-up, red Xros Loader. "Yo, you asking about me, kid?"

Hawkeye was visibly stunned at just how freaking angry that little robotic bird was. Not only angry, but rude as well! Even Hawkeye back before he met Kaya wasn't this rude to anyone. Thankfully, the blue Ballistamon was wise enough to grab onto the bird, whose name was apparently Laserbeak, and putting him in his chest compartment for a time out. Still though, Hawkeye's was still visibly in shock from that response.
"What the heck did he say?" Kaya asked, noticing Hawkeye's expression.
"He told me to 'mind my own damn business,' and threatened to blow out my eardrums," Hawkeye responded. "He also had the nerve to call me 'Feathers,' which is odd to hear coming from another bird."
"What a naughty bird..."
Kaya wasn't expecting the black Ballistamon to pick up an Octomon variant when she asked where the army's general was. He looked... vaguely familiar, though Kaya wouldn't be the one to figure out exactly why that was. He had pulled out a red Xros Loader, one that looked like it had seen quite some use. "Wait... you're the Xros General? I thought they were chosen humans like I am."
"Judging by the state of that Xros Loader, I'm willing to wager that he's not an official General," Hawkeye said, "at least not in the way that makes a human one official. Where did you get that Xros Loader?"
"I'm Kaya, by the way. Kaya Matsui. And this is my partner, Hawkeye. So where are you guys all going with your big robot there, anyways?"

"Most of the time, you'd be right. Xros Generals are usually humans, although there are rare occasions where a Digimon like me can be a Xros General." Octavio explained, hoping to clear up any confusion the Tamer and Hawkmon might be experiencing. "As for whether or not I'm an 'official' General? I'm not sure I can answer that. I found this old thing in a trash pile one day, completely busted, and decided to fix it up for the heck of it. The thing definitely looked like it had been there for a while, so I highly doubt anyone was looking for it."
"This 'robot' is MetalKhimeramon, a personal creation of mine and the current peak of all my scientific work so far." Tartar interjected, brushing himself off and stepping away from MetalKhimeramon. "Combining data from a MetalKabuterimon, Fujinmon, RizeGreymon, Datamon, Ebemon, and Gigadramon to create a veritable walking powerhouse. Or at least he will be once all of his systems are fully optimized."
"Yeah, he's not gonna officially be part of the team until his problems are fixed, but we are gonna keep a space open for him until then." Octavio added, while MetalKhimeramon did his best to turn around in the cramped (to him) space and give Kaya and Hawkeye a friendly wave with one of his Datamon hands. "It's good that at least one of our resident mad scientist's experiments hasn't backfired horribly."
"Such a glowing review." Tartar sarcastically commented as he crossed his arms and scoffed.
"Shut it, Tartar. I'm still mad that one of your creations tried to eat me." Octavio scolded, causing the Kokuwamon X to back off. "Anyways, I'm Octavio, the scientist is Tartar, Belle's the Tinkermon, you know who Laserbeak and MetalKhimeramon are, the blue Ballistamon keeping the bird in time-out is Soundwave, his black-colored clone helping me out is Soundblaster, and the sleeping beauty by the window is my daughter, Cecilia."
All of the named individuals would wave at Kaya and Hawkeye as their name was called, except for Laserbeak (for obvious reasons) and Cecilia, who was drooling slightly as she slept with her head against the window.

"Huh..." This was all that Kaya could really say after hearing that fact about Digimon Xros generals. It sounded a little bit odd to her, since it kinda sounded like a Digimon being partnered with another Digimon through a Digivice to her. Octavio explained that he found this Digivice in the trash one day while it was broken, so he decided to fix it up. He mentioned it looking like it had been there for a while.
"I'm going to choose to believe that it didn't belong to someone else at one point," Hawkeye said, mostly to himself to avoid the thoughts of a potentially dead Xros General from flooding into his mind. With his past, this decision was for the best. "Has it had any hiccups since you fixed it up, may I ask? Faulty fusions and the like, I mean."
The Kokuwamon-X responded to Kaya's inquiry about the "robot" by stating that he was MetalKhimeramon, a creation of the Kokuwamon-X that combined data from a wide array of mechanical Digimon, all of which could definitely be seen upon looking at Metal now. "You made this MetalKhimeramon yourself?"
"He looks so cool," Kaya said with awe as she looked up at Metal with great enthusiasm, "I didn't know that making a Digimon was a thing! And he looks kinda cute too, don't you think, Hawkeye?"
"You find practically every Digimon adorable in some way."
"Not Numemon's or Betsumon's, though. There's no way that either of those could be cute."
According to Octavio, however, not all of Tartar's experiments went this well, as the Kokuwamon-X seemed to have made something that almost ate Octavio. "I'm almost scared to ask this, but... what did he make that tried to eat you?" Hawkeye had a feeling that he would regret asking this question sooner rather than later.
Octavio continued on to introduce himself and the rest of his team, each of them greeting Kaya and Hawkeye with a wave aside from Laserbeak and Cecilia, the latter of which was completely passed out. She must've been a heavy sleeper to be able to sleep through her army's craziness. "It's nice to meet you all. Are you guys heading to Rosewood like we are?"

"Hiccups? No, we haven't experienced anything like that yet, although it's not currently in good enough shape to use more than a single X3 form at a time." Octavio answered with a shrug when Hawkeye inquired further about the Xros Loader. "I'm still working on it."
"I did indeed build MetalKhimeramon myself. It took months to gather the data samples for his components and then assemble them, but the effort was well worth it." Kaya and Hawkeye's fascination with MetalKhimeramon filled Tartar with a smug sense of satisfaction, and it showed in his body language. "Khimeramons are usually unstable due to their various components not meshing together very well, which is why I went to great measures to make sure that MetalKhimeramon wouldn't end up the same way. I programmed his Digicore separate from his body, so that his physical components could not adversely affect his personality, and then transplanted the core into his body once it was assembled."
"Yeah, there's no need to be afraid of our personal Iron Giant. The big guy's a total softie." Belle chimed in, while pointing at the amalgamate with her thumb.
When Hawkeye asked about the experiment that tried eating Octavio, the Xros General hesitated for a moment before answering in a somber tone. "You don't want to know what that thing was. Just know that we've taken precautions to make sure that thing won't hurt anyone else. And yes, we're here to visit Rosewood, both to let Metal see more of the world now that his battery's working better and also so we can find a quiet, isolated spot in the woods to test out some of his weapons without accidentally hurting someone."
At that point, the Trailmon had finally pulled into the station and made an announcement. "Alright, we've arrived at Rosewood Station. If this is your stop, then please disembark in a calm and orderly fashion."
After the announcement concluded, Belle would wake Cecilia up by poking her cheek with her knuckle, making sure to not accidentally scratch the Rubescemon with her poison-tipped claws. Cecilia would groggily wipe away the drool on her face as she looked around the car. "Are we *yaaawwwnn* there yet?"

"So, it works perfectly, aside from the fact that it only lets you hold a single X3 form at a time," Hawkeye repeated, affirming the situation. "We know a couple others who do well with electronics. Perhaps we could ask them if they could take a look at it if you're ever having trouble working on yours." Little did they know that this army, more so Tartar, had bad history with the ones that Hawkeye was talking about.
Tartar looked very proud about building MetalKhimeramon from scratch. Hawkeye couldn't help but sweatdrop when Tartar's body language showed his smug sense of accomplishment. Octavio then explained that unlike Khimeramons, which were unstable, Metal had his Digicore programmed separately from his body so that the components wouldn't affect his personality. "Then that means he's actually his own Digimon, and not just a bunch of other Digimon mashed together?" Kaya asked, putting a hand on Metal's shoulder. "That's really beautiful. So that also means MetalKhimeramon is basically Tartar's child, right?"
Apparently, Hawkeye dug up some unwelcome history when he asked about the experiment that went wrong. Tartar simply said that they didn't want to know, and that they took precautions to make sure that it never hurt anyone else. Kaya and Hawkeye looked at each other with unsure expressions... just what did Tartar make that was this bad?
Tartar also confirmed that they were going to Rosewood, both to test out Metal's battery and his weapons in the middle of the woods where no one could get hurt. "Well, as long as no one is getting hurt," Hawkeye said. "There should be an open space in the forest by the city that's perfect for such a thing."
Once the Trailmon stopped, Kaya and Hawkeye would exit while Belle was waking Cecilia up. At the station, they would be greeted by two more bird-like Digimon, a Falcomon and a Biyomon. "Kohaku! Ruri! How are you guys doing?" Kaya asked as she gave each of them a greeting hug.
"Hi, Kaya!"
"We're doing fantastic, Kaya. In fact, we-" Kohaku was saying, before he would inevitably see MetalKhimeramon trying to leave the Trailmon as well. "...do you guys see the big hunk o' metal there too, or am I just seeing things?"

"Oh, the Loader still works just fine for X2 forms, it just doesn't have enough working processor power to have more than 1 X3 and maybe one or two X2 forms out simultaneously." Octavio clarified. "I certainly wouldn't say no to having someone else take a look at it, though, as long as they know what they're doing."
Kaya's comment about MetalKhimeramon technically being Tartar's kid as everyone was disembarking from the Trailmon did cause Tartar to freeze up as he processed the statement. Unbidden memories about his own horrible childhood made the scientist concerned about whether he would even be a suitable parent. Would he end up treating MetalKhimeramon the way his own mother had treated him?
It was a sobering thought, although he was snapped out of his contemplation when Kohaku called MetalKhimeramon a "big hunk o' metal" as the amalgamate squeezed his way out of the car's doors. As Tartar followed after MetalKhimeramon, he sternly callout to the Falcomon, "That 'hunk o' metal' is my son, so I'll ask you to be polite to someone you've just met."
The fact that Tartar had blatantly called MetalKhimeramon his son certainly caught the amalgamate off-guard, although his core filled up with warmth once the shock wore off as he gently scooped Tartar up and placed the diminutive scientist onto his shoulder.
"Wow, I didn't think the little bug had it in him to be so mushy." Belle commented, honestly surprised by the sight of the two machine digimon accepting each other as family so quickly. "World's just full of surprises, ain't it?"

"Processing power is the problem then," Hawkeye reaffirmed after Octavio explained the situation with his Xros Loader further. Octavio mentioned that as long as the person knew what they were doing, he wouldn't mind having them look at it. "Our AEGIS friend Johan practically tinkers with tech for a living, both from the human world and the Digital World. If anyone will know what they're doing, it's him."
Kaya noticed Tartar freeze up after she had made that comment about MetalKhimeramon being like Tartar's child. Did he honestly never consider that idea before? It made the young teenage girl smirk a little bit, seeing the robotic bug properly stop to consider that idea. Maybe that mad scientist had a heart in there after all?
Of course, Hawkeye just assumed that Tartar was simply lagging like a computer did, considering that he believed Tartar to be more robot than Digimon at this point.
On the outside of the Trailmon, after Kohaku had pointed out MetalKhimeramon (who was currently trying to squeeze his way out of the Trailmon doors,) Tartar came to the rescue and admitted that he was his son, telling Kohaku to be more polite. Instead, Kohaku was just confused. "He's your what now?"
"So he is just like your child," Kaya cheered as she put her hands together. "That's so precious!"
"Uh... ooookay then," Kohaku said, not really knowing how to respond to this situation. "Anyways, Kaya, like I was saying... Ruri and I both enrolled in the Rosewood school."
"Yeah!" Ruri added. "We have our own dorm rooms and everything, and Mr. Owen is a really nice teacher."
"Oh yeah, we know him... well, my friend Adrian knows him better, so he's more of a friend of a friend. But still, I'm proud of you guys."
"No more living on the streets for us... now we just need to hope our dad doesn't come back and ruin everything."
"With Owen as your teacher, I'm positive that your father in his current state is no match for someone like him," Hawkeye responded with the signature Hawkmon peace sign.
"I don't think we got the chance to visit the school, actually... do you mind giving us a tour?"
"Well of course we can. It's not too far from the station, come, follow us." And with that, unless something happened to make this group want to follow the Xros Army elsewhere, it would seem that the destination would be the Rosewood Academy! Would Octavio and the others have business in that area, as well?

The moment Hawkeye mentioned Johan's name, Octavio, Cecilia, Soundblaster, and Tartar all simultaneously tensed up while Belle and Soundwave were both confused by their reaction. They weren't there during the group's previous encounter with Zero the hacker, after all. "We'll... consider asking for his help, but ONLY if his Hackmon friend is kept as far away as possible. He did break into our home and steal from us, after all."
Kohaku's confusion about Tartar's relation to MetalKhimeramon did actually cause the scientist to chuckle. "Yes, MetalKhimeramon is indeed my son. Is it my size that makes it so hard to believe?"
"Did... did he just try to make a joke or something?" Belle muttered in shock. The Tinkermon wasn't sure that she was seeing all this correctly, so she took off one of her clawed gloves and pinched her her cheek to make sure this was actually happening. "Ow. Okay, apparently this is real. Tartar's officially lost his mind."
"Silence, Delinquent." Tartar snapped ("Aaaand there he is."), before turning to Kaya. "You made me realize something I hadn't even considered until now, so now I'm going to take responsibility to raise my son properly. I must admit, however, that this Rosewood Academy has caught my interest. Would it be okay if we traveled there with you. I wish to see whether this might be a suitable institution for MetalKhimeramon to receive an education."

Needless to say, Hawkeye was pretty confused to see their reactions to him saying Johan's name. Did they already come across him or something? His answer would come shortly after, with Octavio revealing that his mercenary Zero broke into their home and stole from them. "Oh yeah... him. Kaya and I met Zero briefly before... he seems a bit off, but I never imagined he would break into your home. Forget I said anything, then." Sure, he knew Johan and even Zero would've agreed to the terms, but there was already bad blood, so why bother?
Back at the Trailmon station, Tartar had confirmed to Kohaku that the MetalKhimeramon was indeed his son, asking if it was his size that made it hard to believe. Kohaku couldn't help but sweatdrop at this situation, his eyes shutting in the process. "Kaya, do you know that loony?"
"That is Tartar," Kaya responded, looking back at the army, "and that is Octavio... Soundblaster... Soundwave... uh... Belle... Cecilia..." Wow, it was surprisingly hard to get everyone straight, she was just realizing. "They're a Xros Army with a Digimon as their general. And trust me, you don't wanna meet Laserbeak."
"Why not?" Ruri asked.
"Because he's a meanie who's just going to make you regret you ever met him." Yeah, after what Hawkeye said about Laserbeak, even she couldn't find any ways to defend him...
Before the group left, Tartar turned to Kaya and asked if he and MetalKhimeramon could check out Rosewood Academy with them, to see if they could enroll Metal. "Oh, uh... maybe Owen would be willing to let him in... yeah, you can follow us! We'll show you the way."
"You're actually going to let them join us?" Kohaku asked. "I don't know about this, they're both kinda givin' me weird vibes..."
"I like them, they're cute! I don't mind if they come with us."
"I'm not opposed to it, either."
"Majority rules, Kohaku!"
"*sigh* Fine, I guess I'm okay with it then, too..."

Soundblaster found this whole situation rather funny, chuckling to himself as he took a sip of coffee from his thermos.
"Wait, if Tartar considers Metal to be his son, then does that mean that Soundblaster is, too?" Cecilia innocently pondered out loud, turning to look at Soundblaster. The question caused the black Ballistamon to freeze mid-sip as his brain processed that sentence.
Oh crap, she's right. Soundblaster realized as he slowly put the cap back on his thermos.
"Oh, yes. I suppose I can't forget about my eldest son, either." Tartar smugly stated, causing Soundblaster's face to turn red. The scientist was definitely trying to play up the 'embarrassing parent' shtick, and succeeding at it to boot.
"Why must you do this to me, Cecilia?" Soundblaster quietly said to the person who had started this nightmare, only for Cecilia to coyly turn away and start whistling. "Oh, you're dead to me now, girlie."
"[FREEDOM!]" Laserbeak squawked as he managed to burst out of Soundwave's chest compartment. "[After 10,000 years, I'm finally free! Time to conquer - where did the other birdbrains come from?]"
"I hate my life." Octavio muttered as he rubbed his forehead with one of his tentacles. "You see the kind of madness I have to put up with every day?"
Meanwhile, Belle was currently laughing her butt off at the chaos.
