Needless to say, Kaya, Hawkeye, Kohaku and Ruri were all very confused when Cecilia and Tartar began referring to Soundblaster as his eldest son as well. Sure, with MetalKhimeramon that made sense, but Soundblaster? He just seemed like an unrelated Digimon that was a part of their army, how was he Tartar's son as well? Unless... "Hold on a moment... Tartar, did you make Soundblaster?"
Soundblaster himself was not too thrilled by being called Tartar's son, as shown by the sheer amount of blush that was on the Ballistamon's face. Kaya didn't even know that metallic Digimon like him COULD blush. Still, the four of them couldn't help but at least be somewhat amused by the poor Ballistamon's misfortune. "Even a loony for a dad is a better deal than the deadbeat Ruri and I got stuck with," Kohaku said with a genuine smile on his beak.
"Plus, Tartar's a caring dad, it seems!" Kaya added, injecting a bit of optimism into the situation.
Suddenly, Laserbeak would break himself free from Soundwave's chest compartment, expressing great joy about his freedom (which did NOT take 10,000 years to happen) before he noticed the new birds there and asked where "the other birdbrains" came from. "Ironic that you're a bird calling us birdbrains," Kohaku said as he sweatdropped.
"Okay, HOW ARE YOU GUYS UNDERSTANDING HIM?" Kaya asked, visibly stunned at how effortlessly Hawkeye and Kohaku were able to understand what Laserbeak was saying through his squawking.
"Wait, you can't understand him?" Ruri asked as she and Kohaku tilted their heads, both seemingly with giant question marks above their heads if this were an anime. Could she really not understand the robotic bird at all?
Even Octavio seemed to be done with this shit, rubbing his forehead with one of his tentacles to prove it. Hawkeye couldn't help but go up to him and offer at least a bit of normality for the poor ShogunOctomon. "You end up getting used to it in the end," Hawkeye told him, referring to his own partner. "You think you wouldn't but then you do. A few years ago, I never imagined myself caring for someone like Kaya as much as I do now."

"Actually, yes. I did indeed create Soundblaster in addition to MetalKhimeramon. His birth was a lot simpler than MetalKhimeramon's creation, as he is an impure clone of Soundwave." Tartar proudly explained to Hawkeye while the group continued walking towards Rosewood Academy. "'Impure', in this case, simply means that he is not a 100% identical clone, hence his noticeable differences to his progenitor."
"Eh, it's true." Soundblaster blandly confirmed, having worked the embarrassment out of his system and moved straight to acceptance. There wasn’t any use in fighting it, so the Ballistamon figured that he should just roll with it. "I guess there are worse options than a mad scientist for a dad."
Laserbeak, meanwhile, merely brushed off Kohaku pointing out the irony of Laserbeak calling them birdbrains when he himself is a bird. “[Yeah, but I’m a mechanical bird, which inherently makes me better then you walking feather pillows. So suck it, owl boy.]”
When Kaya expressed confusion about how her friends could understand Laserbeak’s squawking, she would have her confusion answered by Soundblaster, as he reopened his thermos and continued drinking his coffee. “He’s a bird, they’re birds. Makes sense if you think about it. Plus, we’re Digimon, so things don’t always make sense with us.”
As the group continued walking, Tartar casually kept an eye on the passersby that shuffled around the large group, only to freeze up when a familiar data signature caught his attention.
Oh, no. Oh, no nonono! Why does he have to be here?! Tartar desperately thought, his sudden panic causing Soundwave to glance at the Kokuwamon X as he telepathically felt the scientist’s distress. “We need to go. Now. Do not do anything to draw attention to ourselves.”

"You managed to clone a Digimon?" Hawkeye asked Tartar, looking back and forth between Soundwave and Soundblaster. Now that he mentioned it, the two WERE a lot alike in appearance, but in personality? Soundwave was the one that seemed more like the clone than Soundblaster. "You truly are some kind of mad scientist, aren't you?"
"What was that quote from that one movie you told me about, Kaya?" Kohaku asked. "Something about scientists that could've done something or whatever?"
"Scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn't stop to think if they should," Kaya responded. "It's a quote from the movie Jurassic Park, and with how the rest of that movie went, the quote was pretty accurate, I'd say. But Soundblaster and MetalKhimeramon both look like such sweethearts, so I'm glad Tartar went and made them." Surely THAT wouldn't inflate the Kokuwamon-X's ego more. Even Soundblaster was deciding to just go with it at this point.
Kohaku visibly looked offended at Laserbeak's comment on feathered birds, though in a more over the top and not actually serious fashion. "I'll have you know that I make an excellent pillow," the Falcomon said, holding his beak up. "And if any of us is inherently better, that title would obviously go to mwah. I mean, just look at this!"
"Kohaku, you're doing it again," Ruri laughed as she lightly patted her brother's wing before turning to the others. "My big brother has a very positive self-image. Maybe even a bit TOO positive!"
Soundblaster's explanation to Kaya made a lot of sense to her. "So, it's only bird Digimon that can understand him... and Soundwave too, right? Is he always that... rude?" Suddenly, Tartar stopped and announced to the others that they needed to go. "What? Why? I thought you wanted to check out the school?"
"That does seem highly suspicious..." Hawkeye added. Was Tartar trying to avoid something here?

"Yep, that definitely sounds like Tartar all right." Octavio bluntly said, after Kaya mentioned the Jurassic Park quote. "Not ALL of my experiments go wrong! And of the ones that did, the refrigerator abomination is the only one that actually got out of hand!" Tartar countered, bristling angrily at the accusation (even if it was technically true). Meanwhile Laserbeak scoffed at Kohaku's boast and glared at him. "[Oh, that's how you want to do this, owl boy? Those are fighting words if I ever heard any! CA-CAAAW, motherclucker!]" With that... unusual battle cry, Laserbeak took off from his perch on Soundwave and launched himself directly at Kohaku's head with the intent of pecking and kicking the Falcomon in the face. Soundwave tried to catch the Laserichmon, but the robotic bird was simply too fast for him. "Oh, not this crap again." Octavio muttered, utterly done with the chaos unfolding around him. Kaya's confusion about Tartar telling everyone that they needed to leave caused the Kokuwamon X to growl a bit in frustration. "Listen, girl. There are some people in this world we don't want to run into, and one of them is just down this street.""Brother? Is that you?" An unfamiliar voice called out, as a small Digimon resembling a combination of a spider, a bee, and a beetle approached the group "Oh, it is you, Asimov! Oh, what a wonderful surprise it is to see you again after all these years!""Oh, god-damnit." Tartar muttered under his breath as he facepalmed.

"Refrigeratior abomination?" Hawkeye asked Tartar, raising an eyebrow. "Was that the creation that you mentioned earlier? The one that tried to eat you?"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, let's back up here," Kohaku interrupted as he held his wings up, "you made something that tried to eat you? And it was in the shape of a refrigerator? I have... SO many questions about that..." The more that this quartet hung around the Xros Army, the more they realized just how truly bizarre they all were.
Of course, Laserbeak immediately wanted to go straight into a fight with Kohaku, because why wouldn't he? The Falcomon was prepared for this, however... he smirked as the mechanical bird got closer and closer before he simply bent over backwards, letting the bird fly right past him and smack into the nearest building. Kohaku simply turned his head towards Laserbeak and gave a smug look. "Not bad for a walking feather pillow, am I right?"
Tartar seemed to just get more frustrated when Kaya was understandable confused about the scientist's sudden wanting to get the heck out of here. He explained that there was someone he didn't want to run into walking down the street, but by then it was too late... the group was met by a Digimon that seemed to be a combination of a spider, a bee, and a beetle, who called Tartar his brother. And like clockwork, Kaya's cuteness instincts kicked in.
"OH-MY-GOSH-HE-IS-SUCH-A-CUTIE-PIE!" Kaya squealed as she ran over and immediately began hugging the poor unsuspecting bug Digimon.
"Kaya, what did we talk about?" Hawkeye asked as he crossed his wings, implying that this exact thing had happened once before.
"Oh, uh... right. So sorry about that," Kaya apologized as she let the cute bug Digimon go. "But you're soooo cute, I couldn't resist!"
The newcomer Digimon then went on to call Tartar by some other name entirely... Asimov. "Asimov? I thought your name was Tartar?" Ruri asked.
"Yeah, I thought so too... unless Tartar isn't your actual name! Or maybe... Asimov is the fake name...?"
"Asimov sounds more like an actual name," Hawkeye said. "Tartar is the name of a sauce, if I remember correctly."
"Aaaaand now I'm hungry..."

At Hawkeye and Kohaku's attempt to learn more about the fridge monster, Tartar quickly cut that line of questioning off with a sharp glare at the two bird Digimon. "I'm not explaining this to you, so just drop it."
Meanwhile, Laserbeak's eyes would widen as Kohaku effortlessly doged his attack, sending the Laserichmon crashing into a wall. After falling to the ground and landing on his back, Laserbeak strained his head to look at the Falcomon and... smirked (as much as his beak would allow, anyways)? "[Okay, that was a smooth trick, so I'll give you that much. You win this round, Birdy, but rest assured that I won't be so forgiving next time. Sleep with one eye open, punk.]"
The newcomer was understandably confused by all this, and was thus unable to react as Kaya mercilessly hugged the poor bug. The insect Digimon ended up letting out an involuntary squeak as the teenage girl squeezed him. After Hawkeye convinced Kaya to let go, the newcomer took a moment to regain his composure before speaking. "*Ahem* Well, that was certainly the first time someone tried hugging me without even knowing who I am. In the future, please ask for permission before doing that again, though. Violating someone's personal space is a rude thing to do."
In response to Ruri's question about being called "Asimov" instead of "Tartar", the Kokuwamon X merely sighed before speaking. "Asimov was the name I was given at birth, but I chose to leave that name behind when I decided to leave the hive I was raised in for good. Don't call me by that name, as that is not who I am anymore."
The newcomer visibly looked hurt when he heard Tartar's speech, before quickly burying it under a mask of stoic professionalism. "Very well, then. If that is the way you wish to be addressed, brother, then I shall respect your wishes."

Tartar's snappy reaction was enough to startle both Hawkeye and Kohaku by a visible amount. If this were an anime, both their character models would've gone more simplistic and exaggerated by this point in response to the angry Kokuwamon-X. "O-Okay, I will not press the subject any farther," Hawkeye hesitantly agreed.
"Yeah, I just won't talk about it no more," Kohaku said, sweatdropping alongside his Hawkmon ally.
"Oh, he even got Hawkeye to flinch a little bit," Kaya pointed out, hinting that that was not something Hawkeye would usually do in response to anything of a similar nature. Ruri nodded, seeing as Kohaku is normally not as easily frightened, either...
Speaking of Kohaku, the archer Falcomon was feeling quite proud of himself when he saw Laserbeak on the ground like that after crashing into the wall. Surprisingly, Laserbeak actually praised him for such a tactic, only to taunt him more by suggesting that he sleep with one eye opened. Kohaku's smirk was replaced with a grimace in an instant. "I already do that, thanks to my father." Yeesh, some bad blood there...
After Hawkeye had effectively convinced Kaya to let go of the newcomer, he was of course not very happy about it and wished to be warned beforehand before Kaya did something like that again. "I am terribly sorry about her," Hawkeye said as he bowed to the bug-like Digimon before he smiled. "But with Kaya, that is ultimately a good sign. She considers you worthy, in a matter of speaking."
Oh, so it turned out Tartar was not even Tartar's real name, but instead a name he gave himself when he ditched the name Asimov after he left his hive, leaving his so-called brother looking visibly hurt by that. "Whoa, man," Kohaku said, walking up to Tartar, "If what he's saying is true, and he really is your brother, then you gotta be nicer to him. Especially since I'm guessing you haven't even seen each other in a hell of a long time."

"[Well, now you have two reasons to sleep with one eye open.]" Laserbeak sinisterly told the Falcomon, although the Laserichmon paused for a moment when Kohaku's words finally sunk in. The Laserichmon may be a complete jerk, but there are things even HE won't tolerate. "[Wait. Back it up. The heck did your father do to you?]"
"It is quite alright. As long as she asks for permission next time, then there are no hard feelings." The spider-like Digimon said, quick to accept Hawkeye's apology for Kaya's behavior. The Digimon had a sudden realization before bowing to the group. "Oh, where are my manners? I haven't even introduced myself! Taranza Hivewell, at your service."
Meanwhile, Tartar narrowed his eyes at Kohaku as the Falcomon got in his face about his treatment of Taranza. "Oh, that is rich. The boy with his own personal family issues chastising me for my issues with my half-brother? You don't know anything about me OR what my family is like anymore than I know what your father is like. And yet, you don't see me dictating how you should treat your family, do you? Get your own affairs in order before trying to mess with things that don't concern you, boy."
"Okay, that's enough. I'm breaking this up right now." Octavio sternly said as he pushed the Kokuwamon X and the Falcomon apart with his wasabi sticks. This situation was escalating to a dangerous level, and the Xros General was not gonna let it get any worse. "Both of you break it up and go cool your heads before I have to knock some sense into you. That's an order!"
"Well, our family is just one big, giant mess of issues, isn't it?" Soundblaster casually asked to MetalKhimeramon while drinking more of his coffee. His larger, younger brother had no answer for him, as the amalgamate had no idea how to react to what was happening.

To the Falcomon's surprise, Laserbeak actually seemed to do a double take when Kohaku brought up his bad father, even to the point of asking him just what his father exactly did. "The list is way too long. But some of the highlights are kidnapping Kaya here along with some of her friends for ransom. Then he decided to barge in and try to forcefully recruit us for his pirate crew, which he is still trying to do to this day."
"You're talking about your father, aren't you?" Kaya asked Kohaku with an uneasy look on her face. She really did not like either of her confrontations with that Buraimon, and it pained her to see Kohaku still affected by it all moreso than she could ever be. "Laserbeak, that prick is probably even worse than you are, and that's saying something."
"Sometimes I dream about him showing back up to take us," Ruri admitted. "He makes everyone disappear... then Kohaku and I leave Rosewood, and join his crew..."
"Ruri..." Kohaku said, holding on tight to his sister's wing to try to calm her down. "You asked what he did, Laserbeak... surely that hasta give you an idea, right?"
Things didn't really go well from there after Taranza introduced himself to the others. Tartar did not like the way Kohaku was judging him for treating his half-brother as much as Kohaku did not like said treatment. "It doesn't matter what the rest of your family is like, you should always treat your siblings with at least some amount of respect. And don't call me 'boy,' you heartless cyborg!" And that is where Octavio stepped in to break the two apart before things got worse, ordering both of them to go cool their heads. "Don't order me like I'm part of your army, 'cuz I'm not," Kohaku said while glaring at Octavio.
"Aye-aye-aye," Hawkeye groaned as he rubbed his forehead with two of his claws. He was clearly as fed up with this whole thing as Octavio was.
"Kohaku... does have kind of a point," Kaya said to Tartar. "As far as I've seen, Taranza was just trying to be nice and reconnect with you, and you don't seem to want anything to do with him. What's up with that?"

"[Wow, your dad IS an asshole.]" Laserbeak said, his tone missing its usual vitriol as he managed to flip himself right side up and flew back onto Soundwave's shoulder. "[I can respect the strength you two must have in order to deal with that, so I'll at least try to ease up on you guys from now on.]"
Meanwhile, Octavio sighed at Kohaku's attitude to being told to back off. "Alright, I admit that I overstepped a bit, there. I apologize for that, even though I was simply trying to keep things from escalating further."
"Oh, it is too late for that, sir." Tartar interjected, glaring at Kohaku and Kaya as he spoke. "You want to know why I want to stay as far away from my brother? Oh, that is a long story, so you'd better get comfy. My 'mother', Vespa Hivewell, wanted to groom me into taking over the hive that she ruled, but basically threw me away and treated me like absolute garbage when I didn't turn out to be the 'perfect heir' she wanted me to be. I wanted to be a scientist, not waste my talents by being little more than a glorified politician. So, when I wasn't the perfect little copy of her that she wanted, she turned all of her care and attention to my younger half-brother, Taranza, who was so desperate to please her that he let himself be used as her pawn and never realized just how terrible of a mother she was! When I had decided I'd had enough and went to leave the hive, I tried to convince Taranza to come with me, but he chose to stay with her. Even after I left, he had the nerve to try contacting me to convince me to come back to the hive so that we could 'be a real family again'! Well, that tyrant is no mother of mine, and as long as Taranza refuses to accept the truth, I want nothing to do with him, either!"
After his rant, Tartar took a moment to let the others process his words before speaking to Kohaku once more. "So you see, boy, we actually have more in common than you think. The only difference is that your sibling came with you when you escaped your father, whereas mine didn't. That is why I can't stand being around him."

Kohaku had to admit, he was a bit surprised with how quickly Laserbeak's attitude changed when he and Ruri told him their story. He actually admitted that he respected their strength for being able to deal with that, and even promised he'd take it easy on them in the future. A smile crept up on Kohaku's, Ruri's, and even Hawkeye's beaks. "Thanks, Laserbeak. You're not as bad as I thought, ya know."
"Wait... did Laserbeak actually say something nice?" Kaya asked, still not able to understand the robotic bird Digimon's squawking.
After Octavio apologized for trying to give orders to Kohaku, Tartar still was not done arguing with the poor archer bird. The four of them just listened as Tartar explained his story, about how his mother neglected him when he said he wanted to be a scientist instead of the next heir to a hive and focused all of her love and attention on Taranza. Tartar claimed that he tried to convince Taranza to join him when he left, but Taranza unfortunately refused. Tartar even got angry when Taranza tried to contact him and convince him to return to the hive. No one really had any real good idea how to react to such a story.
"A story with no true correct side..." Hawkeye mused. "Both brothers in the right and wrong at the same time... truly morally ambiguous."
"'Ambiguous,' my red-feathered butt," Kohaku scoffed before Tartar faced him one more time, daring to suggest that he and Kohaku were even remotely alike. "Don't even think you can compare me with yourself, tin-can. You ran away from your asshole mother, and you undeservedly treat your brother like you treat her because of it. You want to know what happened to us? Our grandfather raised us, loved both of us, tried to give us the best lives he possibly can after our father abandoned us. And then my grandfather got sick, thanks to some low-life Digimon that sold fruit infected with some kinda super virus! You learn to cherish your loved ones more when you see one slowly die in front of you, in agonizing pain the entire time."
"Brother-"
"Suddenly our lives go to hell, and I'm the one responsible to keep both myself and my sister alive. And to add insult to injury, NOW our father decides he wants us to forfeit our free will to join his damn pirate crew! is your family trying to hunt you down for malicious reasons like that? Is this 'Vespa Hivewell' forcing you to become nothing more than a crook and a murderer? She's messed up for disowning you because you didn't want to be a hive ruler, but it's WAY damn better than the alternative! At least your brother actually wanted you in his life after all that, the least you could do is give him a chance, you twit." Kohaku also took a moment to pause and let the others process his words.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrooooowwwllll~
"Unh-!" And that moment was abruptly interrupted by Kohaku's stomach growling loudly. Kohaku blushed as he looked down at his belly while Kaya, Hawkeye and Ruri were sweatdropping and trying to not just burst out into laughter, considering the high tension that was probably now completely cut through.
"I'm starting to think we're all getting worked up because we're hungry," Kaya suggested with a sigh. "Or at least Kohaku and I are..."

When Kohaku paused his rant to let everyone process his words, Tartar's only response was to sigh in defeat, his anger fizzling out and being replaced by shame. "No, you're right. On both counts. Our histories are nothing alike, and I shouldn't even try to compare them."
Here, Tartar turned to face Taranza before continuing. "Nor should I have treated you so harshly for what our mother did. You personally did nothing wrong, and I lashed out at you over a perceived betrayal that wasn't actually real. Perhaps we can try to fix things between us, if it isn't too late?"
"All is forgiven, brother." Taranza replied, wiping a small tear from one of his eyes before giving Tartar a hug. After a few moments, the spider-like Digimon broke off from the hug and straightened up his appearance. "Now, if we are to get lunch together, does anyone have any preferences? It will be my treat, since I've unintenionally caused so much trouble for everyone."

Despite the awkward stomach growl moment, the tension was also eased up by Tartar... admitting that he was in the wrong? He admitted to Kohaku that their histories were in fact different, and that it was wrong to compare them. "Yeah, it kind of stung, to be honest..." Kohaku said as he looked away for a bit. Then Tartar apologized to Taranza, and the two shared a hug of forgiveness. It was hard to not smile at that loving moment.
In fact, it even reminded Kohaku of a moment in his past, some time before his grandfather passed away... "Why do I have to have a little sister, Gramps?" A younger, familiar Falcomon asked his Owlmon grandfather as he looked down at the baby basinet, which held a sleeping baby Yokomon. "All she does is sit there, laugh, cry, eat and sleep. She's not very fun to have around."
"Have patience, young one," the Owlmon said as he patted Kohaku on the back. "She is merely just a baby, much like you were once. And like you, she'll grow and learn and be just like you. Ruri here is going to be your friend for life, if you'll let her. Family bonds are strong, but sibling bonds are unbreakable, Kohaku. One day soon, you'll realize that."
"Hmmmm..." "Sibling bonds are unbreakable..." Kohaku muttered quietly to himself, before Taranza asked if anyone had any preferences for lunch. "Huh? What? Oh, uh... yeah, I'll just eat whatever."
"Can we not go somewhere that specializes in poultry dishes?" Hawkeye asked. "Aside from that, I shall be fine with most anything."
"We better get going before Brother's stomach causes an earthquake," Ruri jested with a slight chuckle, causing the poor Falcomon's face to blush red at that remark. He hoped they wouldn't say anything about it...

"That is a fair concession." Taranza agreed when Hawkeye requested that they not go to a place that served poultry. "I do happen to know a nice place that serves some wonderful soups and sandwiches. And their homemade spiced tea is absolutely delicious!"
"Oh, that sounds nice!" Cecilia added, her eyes lighting up in excitement. The Rubescemon started hopping in place until her goggles ended up sliding down over her eyes, causing her to stop as she fixed her eyewear back into place.
"Eh, I'm good with it if Cece is." Belle added nonchalantly. Food was food, after all, and the Tinkermon wasn't a picky eater.
"Well, sounds like we have a plan the... oh, what now?!" Octavio stated, his mood shifting to irritation as he heard a noticeable buzzing sound approaching their location.
Said buzzing was revealed to be a group of four spear-wielding Stingmons, led by a Jewelbeemon wearing a simple gold circlet upon his head, who all arranged themselves in a straight line in front of Taranza and knelt down on one knee in unison.
"Lord Taranza, you mustn't keep running off without us." The Jewelbeemon stated, seeming to be politely chastising the Silkosamon for wandering off. "You know that Her Majesty will be angry to learn that you wandered off unprotected."
"My apologies, Thresh. I simply happened to see my brother and wished to speak with him, is all." Taranza humbly apologized, bowing his head at the Jewelbeemon guard. "It has been a dreadfully long time since i've seen him, after all."
"The Deserter is here?" The Jewelbeemon, Thresh, asked in surprise as the five guards got to their feet. Themoment the guard squad laid their eyes on Tartar, they all shifted their stance and aimed their spears at him in unison.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Taranza asked in shock, caught completely off-guard by the guards' aggressive behavior.

"Homemade spiced tea..." Hawkeye repeated, a small smile forming on the corners of his beak. The bird sure liked his tea. "Alright, you have convinced me. Let's go check out this nice place for lunch, then we can explore the school afterwards."
"Sounds all good to me," Kohaku said, his mind now filled with thoughts of sandwiches, specifically peanut butter and pickle sandwiches... they inherited a weird taste in food from their grandfather.
"Yeah!" Ruri affirmed with a nod and a smile.
"I guess we're all in agreement then," Kaya said as she clapped her hands together. Unfortunately, that was when the group could hear a buzzing sounded progressively getting louder and louder. This buzzing was revealed to be a group of four Stingmons with spears, and a JewelBeemon with a circlet on his head. They all seemed to bow for... Taranza?
"So, they truly are royalty..." Hawkeye muttered, looking back and forth at Tartar and Taranza.
The JewelBeemon scolded Taranza for running off, prompting him to explain that he simply wanted to see his brother. Suddenly, the five guards got to their feet and pointed their spears right at Tartar! "WHOA! What's going on here?!" Kaya asked, secretly pulling out her Digivice in case things got bad.
"Hey! Back off!" Kohaku yelled at the bugs, "Yeah, he's a prick, but he didn't even do anything to you dumbasses!"
