The door squeaked, slightly ajar on one of its hinges as Zack pushed it open. The buzzing of cicadas in the warm air behind him coming in at his back. It was sweltering hot and even the shady half chill of the indoor area was enough to make him let out a soft sigh as he locked eyes with the beelzemon at the front of the room, sitting behind a desk.
"Uh, hey. Is this the clinic?" Zack said, drawing the demon digimon's attention. He was dressed in costume, though his gold and bronze motorcycle jacket was unzipped for sake of the heat and his helmet was tucked under one arm. He had a bruise just under his left eye beginning to form and a cut on the lower left side of his stomach that had cut right through the two layers on his body, a small amount of blood pooling on the visible skin.
"Psst...dad, he probably thinks we're here for you." Marigold said, buzzing slightly beside him, hovering in mid air. Zack looked down at the cut in his jacket and the shirt below and chuckled slightly.
"Huh? Oh. No, no, I'M fine. We're here for them." He said, turning, though having to check behind him for a second before he could reach back and push Violet forward, her mechanical eyes clicking and shifting as she scanned the entire room.
"Confirmation: Unit "Violet" had no memory data starting before twenty seven hours, thirteen minutes and eight seconds ago." Violet droned in that robotic tone though not nearly as loud as they had started off as after crash landing in Zack's backyard. "Explanation: Unit "Violet" is also experiencing slightly mechanical malfunctions, most likely caused by high speed impact or unknown trauma causing damage to memory banks." They concluded, Zack placing his hand on the top of Violet's body, patting her slightly. The whirring of her mechanical joints grinding a good deal more than it sounded like they were supposed to.
"They've got no memory of anything before last night when they put a hole in my garden and none of their joints are working quite right after the impact. We were told this is the kind of place where we could get that looked at." Zack said, visibly concerned for the little machine. They looked in a pitiful state, struggling to shove their limbs through a full motion, having to force their joints as they ground together, hitching and limping along.
"Either that or we take them to a mechanic." Marigold said, half under her breath before receiving a sharp look from her father that caused her to turn away, slightly embarrassed at being overheard but still openly grumpy at how much attention the machine was taking from her father. he'd spent the entire night doting on them, making sure they were comfortable and it reminded her too much of the way he had treated her when they first met, getting deep under the protective daddys-bug's skin, or carapace in this case.

Dust sat in his usual spot; eyes closed with his head facing up towards the ceiling, There was a lot he had to mentally process lately so it was nice to take a moment and let everything just settle for a moment.... Which would be exactly one moment indeed as he heard the door letting in a buncha hot air and.... A trick or treater? That's the usual reason humans wore costumes right.
"Yeah, you're in the right place." Despite the large Mega digimon's appearance he tried to sound as nice as possible, taking one glance at the human it was pretty evident they had been through something. There seemed to be a cut on his stomach that was obvious enough and his eye was starting to bruise.
Reaching down below the Desk, Dust started to grab some first aid supplies, shouldn't be too much of an issue for him to fix up but the duo before him tried to assure him the human was fine before showing another digimon behind them.
Standing up from his desk the Beelzemon made his way over to check on Violets condition, having to bend down so he was almost level with the digimon. "Yeah, don't worry she'll be in good hands. Doesn't look like anything too bad. Give me a second." Dust quickly stood back up before heading over to some stairs. "Hey Luna, got someone who needs some healing."
Almost a few seconds after he called up the stairs something came down, or more so jumped down which the Beelzemon caught spinning around and placing on the ground next to him, it was a Lekismon who seemed to contrast the large demon digimon next to her with a large smile. "Heya! Name's Luna. A pleasure to meet ya." Luna said with a wave as she went over to the trio.
"'Violet' here seems to of taken some damage, apparently she has lost her memory as well." Dust quickly explained to Luna who gave a small nod.
"Alright, wonder if it's like the same when you lost yours? Well regardless I'll take care of the physical injuries first." Luna said as she walked over, bending down next to the rookie digimon patting her on the head? "Don't worry, I'll have you fixed up here real quick. Thankfully this ability works on machine digimon, heh put mechanics outta buisness." Luna joked as she held her hands close. "Healing field." she called out simply as a large ring surrounded the area enveloping everyone there, standing there Violet would quickly find the broken parts mending, even Zack would find his wounds quickly start to close while standing within the field.

"Correction: Unit "Violet" should not be designated as "she". Unit "Violet" possesses no physical or psychological gendered characteristics." Violet identified themselves in such a fashion, Zack smiling slightly with a shrug as Luna came down and made the same mistake, innocently. "Correction: Unit "Violet"-" They started before Zack raised a hand to cut them off before they started to repeat themselves to the doctor as the healing ring started up.
"My daughter and I have just been sticking to "They/Them" pronouns. Seems to be what they're most comfortable with." Zack said, trusting that that wouldn't be a problem for the clinic's staff. They seemed nice enough and a lot of biases and prejudices that made such things into "issues" where he came from thankfully didn't seem to exist in the Digital World.
There was a thunking sound of creaking metal as Violet's parts were de-rusted and pulled back into place as if by the robotic arms of a mechanical, industrial assembly line, her limbs to either side of her body spinning and rolling much more freely than they had before, Zack's wounds mending just as easily, tingling slightly as he shivered, looking down at the cut mending on his core and touching the bruised eye slightly, feeling the bruised sting fading more by the second.
"Huh, we should have brought you in here ages ago." Marigold said, settling on the floor, though having to look up at most of the rest of the people in the lobby area. That was one of the unfortunate consequence of being wider and longer than she was tall.
"Oh! Where are my manners? I'm Zack, this is my daughter Marigold and Violet has already introduced themselves." He said, Marigold taking the prompt to curtsey a little as Zack placed his hand against his chest and took a little bow. If either of the pair recognized Zack from his exploits, he'd certainly been making a big enough nuisance of himself around the Digital World, he didn't want to introduce himself as "Hey, I'm that superhero I'm SURE you've heard about." That smacked him as a little bit over the line of arrogance and more than that, just rude, jackass behavior.
"We run the shelter that just opened up out in the hills just outside town." Marigold said, the father-daughter pair feeling much more comfortable introducing themselves that way rather than simply opening with the "hey, I'm a superhero" bit. Running a home for wayward Digimon just outside town smacked much less of bragging and might actually lead with something that they had in common with the pair running the clinic. One good deed was as good as another after all.

Well Dust just got corrected on the proper way to address them, though that did make him question why he went by the whole male thing. Looking back he didn't until that human he met a long time ago started calling him a he and he just went along with it from then on, glancing over at Luna he wondered if it was the same for her but figured that was a conversation for later. "Right, my apologies. I'll keep that in mind." The Beelzemon said with a simple nod, etching it into his memory.
"Ahh don't fret Dust, mistakes happen. I'll make sure to keep it in mind also." Luna said with a cheerful smile patting herself on the side of the head as if she was shoving it into her brain, that's 100% not how it worked but she was mostly just joking with that.
As the healing seemed to start working on the two of them Luna was able to freely move around the field herself, getting a bit close to make sure both of them were healing properly. "Everything seems to be healing well enough, make sure not to move around too much for at least a little while, though even if you do it should be fine more of a precaution then anything." She was used to using this in combat so obviously it'd be fine but better safe then sorry as they say. To what Marigold said Luna just gave another smile with a thumbs up. "Yup, anything healing related and I'll have it fixed up no problem, if you ever need some more help don't hesitate to come on over. Or come over anyway I like company." being her usual friendly self. "Oh but about their memory, I'm afraid to say but there's not much I can do about that. My partner here lost his own a while back and only recently got it back, something like. A trigger or something familiar helped him before but I'm afraid that's all I got." Luna seemed a bit upset not being able to help but a small pat on the shoulder from Dust seemed to return her smile
"Nice to meet you three, I'm Luna and this is my partner Dust. He looks scary but trust me he's as nice as they come." As she said this she pulled the Beelzemon close for a hug, which made the Mega level digimon scratch his head and look away a bit shy. "We also have a daughter who's sleeping upstairs, probably for the best she doesn't like crowds at the moment."
At the Shelter mention Dust crossed his arms for a moment with his eyes closed. "...Shelter, think I've heard about that. I also recall someone mentioning a human trying to square off with digimon, considering those injuries I assume that's you?" the name and job sounded familiar so Dust figured he'd at least ask.

"Hey you're quicker on the uptake with that sort of thing than a lot of humans that I could mention." Zack said as the pair almost instantly adapted to Violet's preferred pronouns. He rolled his eyes a little and grumbled something slightly unkind about those humans he could mention but shook it off, now was not the time for semi-political mudslinging about the human world, especially because the pair of staff at the clinic probably didn't have much in the way of context for that particular battle.
"Well then you both might end up seeing much more of us. My father tends to..." Marigold paused, again not wanting to bring up the superhero business unbidden, neither she nor her father wanted to come off like they were bragging or lording themselves over other digimon in whatever fashion. She did chuckle a little when Dust brought up the...reputation that her father had acquired. Not exactly as noble as he would have hoped but he seemed to accept it with a shrug.
"I don't like bullies." Was all that Zack said in response to Dust pointing out that he was squaring up with Digimon. To Zack it was all the same difference. Whether it was a Garurumon throwing its weight around in the middle of a small Digimon village or some punk kid swiping people's wallets in a dark Shibuya alley, Zack wasn't the kind to stick his hands in his pockets and let bad action go unopposed. "Sometimes the little folks just need a bit of a helping hand. I'm sure you two know all about that. My methods are just a bit more...in the moment." He said, still not talking himself up as anything bigger than he was. Was what he was doing ridiculous? Yes. Was it dangerous? also yes. Was it insane, stupid and possible more than a little suicidal? Certainly yes. Didn't mean it was going to make him hesitate for even a second in the moment.
"Elation: Unit Violet's chassis and joints are working as if freshly created!" The robot digimon said, padding back and forth across the floor just to test out her "new" legs. That was one way for them to say "I feel brand new!" in their own, special little way that made Zack grin.
"Hmm, well it'll be hard to find anything to jog their memory considering they can't remember anything before they crushed our petunias last night. Not even bits and pieces. I suppose our best bet is going to start by seeing if anybody else saw anything else in the sky that night." Marigold said, putting some of the detective skills, or at the very least critical thinking skills, that her father had taught her into use as she mulled the problem over in her mind. Seemingly in a rush to be after the source of the robot's memories, as if the little bee wanted to bee rid of the cute, grape colored machine as quickly as possible.

Dust just gave a small shrug at them being fast. "Well to be fair us digimon don't really, have those sorta things. So you can tell me to call you whatever and I'd probably be fine unless it was something weird." That was a conversation Dust was not going to get into though as despite not knowing much about it he had a strange feeling considering how fast Zack here and Violet pounced on him about it that it was definitely a problem in the human world.
"Come as much as you like! We're more then happy to help. Trust me he isn't the first I've seen who tends to get into problems like that." Luna said not looking at but was totally implying that happened to Dust all the time. Which the Beelzemon seemed to realize and just scratched the back of his neck and sighed.
"Fair enough." Hell if Zack had just left it at that then Dust would've been fine with that explanation, It was a tough world out there after all. "Believe me I know my fair share of helping in the moments, hell both me and Luna have nearly died ourselves doing stuff like that back when I couldn't remember who I was."
"But we didn't die and that's the important part!" Luna cheerfully added not denying the whole they almost died. "But still it's my job as a doctor to tell you to be more careful, humans only get one life after all. If this is what you want to do with it I can't stop you but if you get hurt I ask you come see me, I can help. No questions asked.... Unless you come with like someone in a bag or something then I'll be forced to, as a Doctor again, ask what's going on." Luna didn't want to tell him what to do but she wanted to be sure he was standing, after all. Plus more people visiting was great! She liked more friends.
Though with Violet being all better Luna cheered with her arms raised. "Glad to hear it, oh also anyone who visits get a free bag of candy... I err, don't know if your kind of digimon can eat candy but I'll give it to you anyway!" Provided Zack wasn't upset with her handing out candy she'd toss one to all three of them, she has way too much candy.
"You'd be surprised at the sorta thing that can jog someone's memories, for me it was a simple name of someone I knew before. Though if you're looking for suggestions I'd recommend The Empyrean Skies, it might be a bit more high up then they were but someone there might've been watching the sky Though I wouldn't recommend trying to rush this. Getting all their memories back at once could have some consequences. Can't say for sure but I know I did a few bad things when I got all mine back cause I couldn't comprehend them all at once." As Dust said this it was pretty clear Luna looked away for a moment, definitely not something either of them wanted to talk about.

"The Empyrean Skies, huh? Can't say that I've ever been. I hope it doesn't require the power of flight to look around there at least. I'm not that kind of superhero. if I was I would've put a cape on the costume, obviously." Zack said, pantomiming spreading his hands out behind him as if adjusting a cape. he wasn't even really joking about that, if he had had the ability of flight there is at least a one hundred percent chance that he would have incorporated a cape into his costume, he wouldn't have been able to resist even if it was a cliché.
"Me. Hi, yes. I'm that kind of superhero." Marigold said, raising one of her legs like a school child holding up her hand to answer a question in class, buzzing the wings on the side of her body to prove her point. She even ran one of her legs along the crimson scarf she wore, flicking it out to one side like a person with long hair flicking their luscious locks out to one side to show them off. her wearing a cape with wings probably would have made flying more than a little awkward but the scarf had been one of the first things her father had ever given her so it was one of the most important things in the world to her.
"Concurrence. Unit is still partially unclear on the definition of "superhero" but Unit Violet is also capable of flight under their own power." Violet added onto Marigold's statement, beginning to levitate there in the middle of the room with their long silver wire tendrils hanging down underneath them.
"Welp, I always envisioned that my kids would upstage me at some point. I just wish they'd let me have my prime to myself first." Zack said, placing his fists against his hips and looking down at his two wards showing off their aerial skills. If this Empyrean Skies place really did require them to be moving through the air he could always just hop on Marigold's back in her Stingmon form and get carted around, even if it wasn't the most dignified of positions in the world. Sometimes even Batman had to be carried. The reality of the unpowered vigilante.
"Candy would be great! I mean, so long as its all plant based, which most candy is if you really think about it. Sugar, corn syrup, chocolate." Marigold said, listing off the candy that she could have. Her dietary "restrictions" were much more broad than many people would have assumed when first hearing about her plant based diet because "plant based" was much more literal in her case than many were used to when dealing with "vegetarians" and the like.
"Acceptance: Unit Violet is powered by an internal battery engine. All fuels are equally capable of producing energy when incinerated." Violet agreed, at least mostly. They simply burned anything that they needed to suck up in the moment and there wasn't a whole lot in the world that didn't create at least SOME kind of energy output when you lit it on fire, candy would do them just about as much good as anything else.

And Luna's concerns were completely ignored! Which Luna quite expected considering who she seemed to be dealing with here, someone who appeared to be running around and decking digimon while being a human, probably didn't want to listen to a Lekismon ask nicely to at least attempt not to get beaten up as badly. "Well, hopefully he at least heard me." Luna muttered to herself while scratching the side of her head, she didn't like being ignored but she supposed given what was going on it was bound to happen.
Dust patted Luna on the back, making sure she was fine before answering Zack. "Yes, you do need to be able to fly in order to get there. Though I'm sure there's plenty of digimon who'd be willing to give you a lift if you need it, like that one right there." Dust pointed out as Marigold did, though Superhero was something Dust wasn't fully sure on, well if it's what she wanted to call herself then who was Dust to judge.
"Yup, kids tend to do that. Apparently mine has already mastered my Ultimate healing technique and I had to die in order to learn how to do that one!" ....Oh lord she wasn't joking, with her hand on her hip and a smile she was completely serious that she had to die to learn how to cast a revival skill. "...Oh but the ability revives me so I'm fine, I err. Just realized how that sounds. I didn't die on purpose! I've only ever died and revived once on purpose." That just made it a bit worse huh?
"Luna, you can't tell someone to be careful, then mention you had to die on purpose."
"It's different, I can revive myself! It's only after I've used the ability that I should start worrying." That, probably made it at least a bit better she was more careful after she dies. Handing out the candy right after though Luna decided to change the subject. "So, ignoring that you mentioned you're running a Shelter, are you living in the digital world?" It was her best bet to get off the topic of death.

"Yep, ok just gotta...interalize that bit of madness, give me a second." Zack said, pinching the bridge of his nose as Luna's explanation of having to die and come back, at least once on purpose, sunk into his mind. "You'll have to forgive me I try to be flexible but sometimes I just gotta...take a moment while my brain adjusts to the things I'm hearing." He said, rubbing one hand all the way down the length of his face before shaking it off fully, blinking hard a couple of times before he seemed to get back to center.
"We're splitting things fifty-fifty right now between the shelter and the human world. Though dad says the math on that is really weird because of the time dilation." Marigold said, taking the bag of candy graciously and with a bow of her head, popping a caramel between her mandibles which was just caramelized sugar of course so it went down nice and easy for the little bee.
"it's nuts. I mean, it's a blessing, for real. I can pop into the digital world on a friday afternoon after all my classes are done, work at the shelter for several days, go on big excursions, finish all of my homework, get multiple full nights sleep...and then show up in the middle of the day saturday like the only thing I'd done was sleep in." He said. It was hard to wrap his head around a lot of the time but it really was a blessing. Juggling three lives, college student, superhero and shelter owner would have been totally impossible without the Digital World's time difference running interference for him and letting him find time to keep himself sane between the three parts of himself.
Violet calmly took the bad of candy into their tendrils and lifted it up into a chamber on the bottom of their body like a squid swallowing things into its beak. There was the sound of a stoking fire from somewhere inside of Violet and the little machine made a chorus of pleasant beeping noises as they recharged. It was a non-standard way to eat but it seemed to make them happy as a clam.

"Yeah, it was a bit hard for me to understand it when I made the ability as well, I actually based it on one of the abilities Dust here used to have, though his was a bit stronger bringing him back to full strength while mine can only bring me back to around half, unless I use it on someone else cause then I can use the full incantation. Kinda hard to get the words out when you're about to bite it after all." Luna used a few hand gestures to point to Dust and compare the strength of the moves with one hand higher and the other lower.
"I can't use that ability anymore sadly, Guess it's good Luna learned how to do it instead. Lets me focus on what I do best." Considering how Dust looked he probably didn't need to explain what he did best! Could easily be assumed.
"Oh right, I always forget there's a time difference between the two worlds. I usually never go to the human world unless I wanna visit a friend or something, I should go more often but I'm a bit worried on staying for too long." Sure she could get Dust to watch the place for her but his healing abilities were definitely a lot to be desired.
"I doubt any human would be able to get much done if not for that, Though I must admit I have seen some humans play a tad too fast and loose with it, popping in for a quick nap and right back to their world." Though Dust just shrugged after mentioning that. "Though I suppose the stress of it all is very real, best take as many advantages it gives you as you can."

"It seems like you two have been able to keep your lives...interesting. Makes me wonder if there are any digimon out there that aren't knee deep in madness all the time. I know there must be SOME that aren't constantly in the line of fire for the most insane things possible but I've yet to see them up close." Zack said, sighing and shaking his head. It held true in the human world as well that most people lead much more full, rich and interesting lives than most people around them ever got to see, he supposed that went double for the Wonderland that was the Digital World.
"I just think you've been immunized to how weird people can be. it's not as if there aren't plenty of humans getting themselves neck deep in weird trouble around here." Marigold said, referring to the tamers and spirit users that roamed the digital landscape. Considering their actual "function" as far as the digital world went the proportion of humans that got into mischief in the digital world on a regular basis was probably a good deal higher than the proportion of digimon that got themselves in the same strains of trouble, especially if one precluded counting digimon partners in that list.
"Definition: Sonder - The complex emotional reaction to the realization that every person you see or meet has an internal life as rich, complex and interesting as your own." Violet expanded, the sound of clicking machinery and ebbing flames coming from inside of their body as the bag of candy they had been given was burned to the last of its worthwhile energy. Zack still had no earthly clue what the little robot did with the ashes and heavy elements they couldn't burn, might be a question for the doctor honestly.

"Interesting is one way to put it I suppose, when you're an amnesiac with a dark past alongside a Mercenary who can never stay out of trouble for more then a minute things do tend the escalate fast. A lot of villagers round here manage to steer clear of trouble though and usually if we stay at home nothing too odd happens save for the occasional spat that gets solved by me looking at them with an intimidating glare." Dust added quotations and a small jokeful tone to the dark past part of what he said but he didn't seem to be lying that it was a thing, if they asked about it neat if not then he was fine not explaining.
"Honestly that's probably it, this is just normal for us so we don't notice it. Getting into strange situations and helping others solve them is just normal for the two of us. Honestly I'm glad we do though, the more people and digimon I can help the better. With my abilities It's good if I run into someone who needs help, I can assist them no trouble." Though that didn't mean she should run headlong into danger, she does but mostly cause she has Dust behind her, which considering he was a tall dangerous looking demon digimon that was probably a good digimon to have in your corner most of the time.
"Yup, everyone in the world has their own unique way, even if some digimon look the same or are the same species they have vast differences that make it all so wonderful. Part of the reason I try to become friends with as many as I can meet! To see all sorts of humans and digimon with their own lives is wonderful." Luna let out a small laugh rubbing the back of her head. "Though mines pretty boring as far as histories go, just a Merc who became a doctor. Only started picking up when I met Dust and things started getting crazy, fighting a Goddess, getting trapped down a pit from some old wizard who thought Dust was evil."
"I get that a lot." No matter how much Dust helps out he'll probably always draw fear being a large intimidating Beelzemon, at least until Luna hugs him or does anything around him then people calm down.

"My whole life has been one expresso shot of trouble since birth, that tends to happen when you get adopted by a dork who thinks he's a superhero." Marigold said, looking over at her father who gave her only a smile in return. It was so bright and so gleaming in response that she knew that he was giving it to her just to be cheeky.
"Our little robot makes a good point. You never know what kind of madness the people you pass on the street are getting up to. Most people wouldn't exactly peg me for the...athletic type." Zack said, running his fingers through his messy blonde hair. He really did just look like an average young man of his age, maybe with slightly larger and broader shoulders than the jacket he was wearing could fully hide but he certainly didn't strike someone at first glance as the kind of man who would battle scars. "I know what you mean about it becoming normal after a while. Honestly by now I think I'd start to get restless if I ever DID come into too many days in a row where there wasn't something dangerous going on, I've become too used to the adrenaline." He smiled, though he did press his hand into the flesh of his lower left side, the throb of that jagged, bruised purple scar that Flymon had given him always made sure to give him a sense of memento mori, reminding him that he wasn't invincible, far from it.
"Question: Zack, is your scar tissue bothering you again?" Violet said, speaking out loud something Zack would have rather kept to himself. The little robot didn't have much of a mind for privacy or "reading the room" as it were so they often ended up speaking their input aloud.
"Fine, Violet, just a tinge, happens all the time." He said, though he wasn't actually look so hot, his skin having become progressively pale over the course of the conversation, clutching tighter to that scar as his paling face began to glimmer with sweat, making him try to wipe his forehead with his other hand. This pain...he hadn't felt it since he had originally received the scar. What the hell was going on to awaken it so readily and why did his feet suddenly feel so unsteady?

"Yours too huh? Suppose I have that in common with a lot of digimon though." Dust responded to Marigold, to say Dust's life has been nothing but trouble since birth would probably still be an understatement though. "Though my trouble more comes from a doctor who absolutely cannot help but throw herself into other peoples problems." Though that wasn't the source of all his problems, it was mostly just a joke though consider Dust's usual tone it was probably a bit hard for anyone except for Luna to tell.
"Love you too Dust, though you've gotten me into my own fair share of trouble Mister Demon Lord." With that Dust just waved Luna off, there was no way in hell he was an actual Demon lord but sharing ones appearance did tend to cause quite a bit of headaches every so often. "I can relate with you there, after all not everyone expects their doctor to of been a Mercenary for most of her life! Lotta people get surprised when I tell them that." Though that last part about being used to the adrenaline did have Luna a bit worried, looking over at Dust who knew more about humans then her and she noticed his eyebrow raise.
"Not something I'd hope you get used to, though this is mostly just speaking as one of the helpers here that can cause quite a lot of problems down the road." Dust was hoping he was over worrying about this but better safe then sorry. Though hearing what Violet said about scar tissue. "Even a tinge shouldn't be happening all the time, you're not looking too good." Dust walked over to Zack, just looking at his face it was pretty clear something was up. "Come over here, you need to sit down, Luna go get Saya." Dust was decently stern trying to lead Zack over to one of them beds so he could sit down on it.
Meanwhile Luna rushed upstairs to go get her daughter, though Luna could heal humans she still wasn't too keen on the inner workings like Saya and Dust were. She'd probably be back down in a moment.

"No, no, no it's just an...old injury I'm...nnn." Zack tried to wave Dust off only for his facial expression to be overcome with a momentary rush of vertigo that swept him off of his trembling feet and left him sitting down on the bed with one of his hands holding up his head. "The hell is...going on?" He said, reaching down and lifting up the lower corner of his jacket and his shirt underneath to show the scar. The mark, which had always been deeply purple in color was starting to drain of that distinctive shade but not for any good reason. There was a large, liquid splotch of that purple color running down his abdominal muscles from spots all along the scar, inky, shimmering with a rainbow sheen like oil on a sidewalk.
"Dad!" Marigold reacted sharply to her father's discomfort, rushing over and sitting on the bed with him, clutching his free hand. "Dad...you're really pale, and your hand is shaking." She said. it wasn't like her father to become so unsteady, especially at random. He shook his head, trying to get his head to stop throbbing.
"Analysis: The foreign agent seems to be some kind of venom. Perhaps left behind from the original injury with pocket of it sealed in the scar tissue. As the tissue has healed the venom has been leaking out, not only on the outside onto Zack's skin but also on the inside..." Violet said, their glimmering camera eye scanning up and down the fading color of the scar as that purple sheen continued to soak.
"Right...nnn...right into my muscles and my bloodstream. And I've been pushing through the pain too much to notice." He said, admitting that he hadn't been feeling well for days, maybe longer, as the venom made aches, dizziness and fatigue plant roots in his body, his lack of focus on his own well being and his drive to always be going out no matter what meant that he had ignored the signs of the mounting illness until now, when it was becoming too serious a debilitating to ignore. He'd chuckle at the perfection of that outcome considering his nature if he wasn't too busy trying not to pass out.
