Carrie stared at Ayaka, amazed such a little thing could have such a loud voice. "Um... I... i-is there anything I should know about Digimon, c-considering I'm going to have one? L-like do they all look like toys or animals? B-because I don't know if I could keep one of them that doesn't hidden from my parents... Why are you showing up in our world? N-no offence, I mean... I-I'm sure you have a good reason... n-not that you need one!" She was mumbling and stuttering and apologizing again, this was just great for her. "N-not that you aren't welcome here! Y-you are... I-I just wanna know."
She listened to Mana, blushing as the girl was asking about what she'd done, brushing it off and choosing to answer the second question instead. "Um... w-well, I was hoping to find a partner... a-and then maybe go home? I-I'm not good with new places..." She looked worried about the "mirrored version" aspect and what that implied. "Does that mean there's one of us... b-but as a digimon? That every human being has a digital counterpart? Ooooh, that's a bit worrying..."

Ayaka seemed to be thoughtful for a second before answering
“Well, yes, you can relate most of them to most animals, plants and machines and elements, I might add” she made a pause before continuing “Our worlds have always been connected, Carrie-san, but most people never find out about our existence. You could consider lucky, or unlucky in that aspect, depending on your point of view about it”.
The little Cormon regarded the girl with a scrutinizing gaze, before finalized.
“But don’t you dare to ever think of digimons as pets, Carrie-san. Your digimon will become a very important part of your life, and you will become an even greater part in its life. Try to be kind with it, and most likely that kindness will be amply returned to you, as its destiny is intertwined with yours now. The dynamics depend on the digimon and human in question, but most of the time, they are pleasant experiences. Maybe miss Mana seems like a really dense and reckless person, but to be honest, she’s way more complex than what looks say, and that is why she has the deepest of my respects”.
“Aw, Ayaka, you’re so cute when you say that stuff!” she said as she hugged her. She had just finished her super jumbo wombo combo off “Okay, I’m done. Shall we get going? I’m itching for an adventure!”

Carrie was slumping down in her chair, growing more and more uncomfortable as Ayaka belittled her for underestimating Digimon, growing close to wimpering before Mana cut her partner off with the hug. Even then she was silent, thinking deeply on all this. Did she really want adventure? Was she ready to take care of a creature on the same intellectual level as a human being? She was a decent student and a decent thinker but this was as big a deal as becoming a mother, a mother to an alien being at that. This little girl didn't seem to understand the implications and responsibilities she had accepted by caring for Cormon, but Carrie wasn't a mindless little girl. She was a high-school student, she'd have to balance school and rearing this creature. And then she'd need to get a job to pay for it! She'd be balancing her partner, her schoolwork, her job, and her mental health and she could only handle three things! One of them would come crashing to the floor!
Not to mention how she'd never be able to tell anyone. Woe is her, the woman given a child to nurture against her will. It wasn't like she could set it up for adoption either... Her mind was spinning and she wanted to get off. She needed to focus on something, anything. Grabbing the fast-food bag she began hyperventilating, calming down slightly with each breath, not minding how she looked to the little girl.

As Carrie began to show the first symptoms of PTSD without having gone through a traumatic experience first, Mana expression softened a great deal, seeming almost motherly as she got up from her chair and, even though the raven-haired girl was almost ten centimeters taller than her, hugging her.
“There, there” she said in a sweet voice, trying to reason with her “I know that all this stuff seems rather hard to swallow at first, I’d be as lost as you if my brother hadn’t helped me out, and even then, I’m still get used to all this new stuff” she then lowered the tone of her voice. “I’m not gonna lie to you. Living with Ayaka’s is not easy, and now I’m finding harder than ever to keep up with parent’s expectations on my school performance, but as long as I can make both of them happy, it’s more than worth it” she then stopped hugging her and returned to her seat.
“Sorry for pressuring you, Carrie-san” she finally said with a surprisingly serious tone “If you don’t want to do anything, we won’t do anything. If you don’t want to talk to me again, I’ll exit this place right now. But if you want us to be friends... well” now a smile was etched in her face as she recovered her normal voice again “I would be more than happy to help you out in whatever you need!”

Carrie was calming down slowly but surely, the hug helping accelorate this. As she finally hugged back, she sighed. "Th-thanks... All this is just... it's so weird... first I find out about Digimon... th-then I find out I'm getting my own... th-then they have another world and... it's just... I'm sorry... I want to be your friend, but I don't think I can make this decision so soon... The digital world one, I-I mean... can you let me sleep on it?" She let go of Mana, sighing gently as she began to get up. "I... I hope we're still friends... b-but we'll know for sure if I want to go there by tomorrow... I promise..." Grabbing her food and starting her way home, Carrie hoped the little girl would understand this choice.

Mana smiled widely at the older girl… yeah, she was weird, but who wasn’t?
“As I said, everything’s entirely up to you, Carrie-san. But I’m happy that you want to be friends with me and that you’re taking me in account on your choice. I’ll support you no matter what you chose, so don’t worry, Carrie-san. I’m by your side”
As she made sure that she had made your point, she saw Carrie starting to leave, but remembered a very important thing about persons you just meet.
“Wait, Carrie-san” she quickly scribbled her phone on a napkin “I think you’ll need this if you wanna find me, because if we leave it to fate, I’d rather not to return to… that place”
After she made sure that Carrie had her phone, she waved her goodbye, went to throw her finished meal at a nearby thrash can and then exited the building with a smile etched on her face.
“You did pretty good, miss Mana, what do you think Carrie-san will do?”
“I don’t know, Ayaka. But whatever thing she chooses, I’ll be fine with it”
Mana’s smile completely faded when she went out of the door and saw the neverending crowd again.
“Drat!” she exclaimed. It would be a really long a difficult way home indeed.
