Mana should have known better than to take the most overcrowded section of the city on her way home.
She didn’t know why she had done just that. Maybe it was the residual happiness of her meeting with Karin, or maybe the Arabic food wasn’t really that good, but nonetheless, this place genuinely sucked. It was way too overcrowded, and even though Ayaka was just too polite to complain from her place in the girl’s backpack, she could hear some audible grunts when the pedestrians collided with her.
“Oh, Ayaka, I’m sorry” she managed to say “I shouldn’t have picked this way back home… it’s my entire fault”.
“It’s fine, miss Mana… A lady has to bear with things like this sometimes… Ow” she replied in her whispery voice.
Truth to be told, the girl wasn’t having a great time either. It seemed like the Shibuyans were just too fond of pushing while they walked, and even she could bear with that up to a point. And when that point was reached, she just entered the first building that seemed safe to catch her breath. It was a rather good idea, if the building’s name wasn’t “Love Me Tonight”.
As she entered, she sighed with relief, at least until she saw the kind of merchandise that was on the shelves of the place. Let’s just say that Mana’s face immediately lost all its color and even statues seemed to be more alive than her right now.
“Miss Mana?” The little Cormon whispered again “Are you alright? Please answer me, miss Mana” she tried to reach her, but the girl was just too petrified to answer.

Carrie was silent, trying to think about what just transpired at the school. As she looked at her digivice, telli-neigh, commanding her to go to the train station she saw something else on the unusual item. It appeared to be a kind of waypoint. Blinking and following, she was silent as she began into the ever-busy Scramble Crossing. Ever busy with the exception of children, who usually avoided the thing like the plague. She never really asked why, or thought about it until now. With her mind going elsewhere she kept silent and moved forward, recalling that, now that she thought of it, most parents avoided the place too. Like some unusual aura emanated from the location tha- or there could just be a massive sex-shop in plain view of everything.
The digivice was pointing her towards a sex shop. The fancy, frilly building with everything on display for man and woman alike to see. The bright pink, bright blue, and white were almost blinding if it not for the occasional bit of red or black to contrast. As she stared at her digivice in utmost confusion she sighed in relief in finding the location was not the sex shop itself. Looking around, she did something uncharacteristic for her: She carefully entered, hoping and praying that nobody she knew was there. Mana's digivice would be going off at about this time, drawing attention to them like bees to honey.
Focusing on her Digivice, the poor girl bumped into Mana's back, falling over. "A-I-O..." She went silent and hoped whoever she bumped into didn't notice.

As she struggled to gain control of her limbs again, Mana felt something colliding with her back as her countenance fell to the floor.
“Ow” Ayaka complained again, being her the one who received the brunt of the impact “I thought we were here to not to be pushed again”
Luckily, the concussion made the girl go back in her senses.
“AIEEE!” she cried as she fell to the floor, in part for the shock of entering such a morally dubious place and in part because she was falling. She gut up as fast as she could and regarded the elder girl that was looking at her. “A-ah… I’m sorry for bumping into you, stranger-san!” she apologized “A-ah, I’d love to talk to you but I gotta go! See you later!”
Not even Speedy Gonzales would have ran faster than Mana in this situation, but as she exited the place, she once again collided with the endless crowd, and now it was thicker than ever.
“Drat!” she exclaimed “I’m not gonna return to this place ever again!”
“How are we going to return home, Miss Mana? Even the crowd’s sound is just too much” her “backpack” asked.
“I don’t know Ayaka, I just don’t know” she then noticed her digivice beeping, the signal coming from that horrendous place where she was previously. Her visage paled again. How would a person with a digimon that goes to those places look like? She preferred not to find it out, but if the crowd didn’t stop obstructing her path, it was just bound to happen.

Blinking and getting her Digivice she realized something "...She had the digivice." She gasped, rushing after her. "W-wait! C-come back!" Looking around, she frowned as she looked into the crowd. She'd hoped to find someone to help explain a few things, like why she needed to go to the train station, or why everybody else was getting a companion and she had found nothing and just lost a very expensive phone. Looking back at the digivice and then at the crowd she took a deep breath and entered, shuddering on repeated contact with complete strangers, keeping everything close to her so it wouldn't be stolen as she followed the beacon. She was NOT going to ask why she was in that sex shop, not going to ask how a little girl was able to enter the place without being spotted, and she was not going to ask why she seemed to have two different voices.
As she began running closer to the underclassmen, she waved the digivice in a hope that she'd recognize she was friend, not foe... until she tripped and landed face-first, the digivice flying out of her hands and into the hordes of people. As she stared at the place the digivice flew into from the crowd she was close to crying, realizing her day was just going to get worse from there.

As Mana tried to solve the puzzle that was the endless crowd of people, she saw stranger-san again exiting from the place that will cause her nightmares tonight. She seemed to be waving at her with a… digivice? Oh, so she was the person who meet there that had a digivice. She sighed relieved until she saw how the girl fell face first into the floor, the digivice flying to somewhere deep in the crowd. Damn, she sighed again. The digivice wasn’t that far away from her, and with hers she could track it, so she took a deep breath and dived to where the device was.
A lot bruises and scrapes later, she returned to where the older girl was with the mostly unharmed device in your hands.
“It’s yours, I guess, stranger-san?” she asked, offering the strange digivice before facepalming with her free hand. “Oh, excuse my manners. The name’s Tsumura Mana. I’m pleased to meet you… again, I guess”
She preferred not to talk of the dreadful place that had been their meeting spot moments ago, so an awkward took over the usually talkative girl.
“Uh, miss Mana” Ayaka repeated again “Who are you talking to? Can I come out yet? It’s getting somewhat cramped here.
“Yeah, just gimme a minute” the girl finally answered. “What about talking in a more comfy place? This street just sucks”:

Mana would notice the digivices looked different, just as Carrie did. "Hey... how come...? I-I mean it's not mi-, not like mine... I-I'm Cathrine but... I prefer to be called Carrie..." She blinked, sighing in relief as she wasn't hearing things again. "Oh g-good, It was just your um... partner, r-right? I... yeah, a new place would be nice... m-maybe we could try to get to that food place across the street?" she suggested. "I-I mean, unless you're a vegetarian, th-then I guess burgers wouldn't be the best idea... not saying you look like one, or that you need to eat more... o-or less for that matter! I-I think you look nice... not in an attractive way, I mean in a..." As she continued to stumble all over her words it would become quite clear she was the one who was winning the awkward contest the two had accidentally triggered.
"I mean, not that you're dressed funny, I like your shirt..." She said, finally finding a compliment that didn't sound weird. "...U-unless you don't like it..." She mumbled, trying to take some deep breathes before looking away.

Mana heard as Carrie tried to say a cohesive sentence and how she failed miserably at doing so, but let out a good natured smile laughed at the older girl’s antics.
“Let me see Carrie-san…” she started “Yeah, it was my partner. The burgers are fine, and thank you for your compliments. I think that answers your questions” she caught her breath back before continuing “Well, let’s go then. I’m hungry after fightning that crowd to recover your digivice” Without too much qualms and a good quota of youthful innocence, the girl tried to take Carrie’s hand and drag her to the place she had pointed out.
“So, Carrie-san… where’s your partner? I haven’t seen nor heard him as of yet. Is he hidden or something like that? Or he’s too cool and doesn’t make sounds while moving? Whoa, that would be so cool!” she said with a dreamy expression “Is he big, and strong, and fights for justice? But wait… that wouldn’t fit with him being so silent to not make a noise while he moves… oh nevermind. I’ll guess I’ll meet him soon enough. Right, Carrie-san?”
She entered the food place, that luckily didn’t have many people, and pointed the older girl to pick a table… she was the older one, after all

Carrie was surprised at how strong the little girl was, blushing furiously as she was drug along by someone half her size. "I-i'm sorry, s-sorry..." she said as she was pulled through the crowd, barely keeping up and keeping everything she needed on her person. As they arrived at the resteraunt she was panting slightly, trying not to look too out of breath in front of someone who suddenly seemed to find her worth looking up to.
Then came the question about her partner. "I-I dunno... Th-this digivice... that's what it's called, right? I-it told me to go to the train station... I-I was going there when your signal showed up... I-I guess we'll both meet them soon... I-I mean, if you wanna come with me..." She picked a table near the kitchen, so she wouldn't be spotted by people outside but she would be able to look out the windows in case something happened. "M-mana's a very nice name... d-does your partner have one too?"

Carrie had picked a fairly good spot for talking about these things. The table was somewhat nearby the kitchen, and the people who passed by there didn’t seem to mind at all.
“What?! You don’t know your partner yet? That’s weird stuff” she said at the girls confession. “Oh, thank you for your compliment. Yeah, she has one too” she grabbed her backpack, pulling a small onion-water lily hybrid from it.
“She’s Ayaka” she said as she placed her on the table “Say hi. Ayaka!”
“Pleased to meet you, Carrie-san” she pinkish digimon said politely
“So, do you know why Carrie-san has a digivice and she doesn’t have a partner yet?” she asked the digimon.
“That’s quite curious, actually” she answered with a thoughtful expression “There’s some stuff from legends, but they most likely are some sort of fairy tale. They say that some humans don’t have your typical human-partner relationship and can harness way more “peculiar” powers. But take it with a grain of salt, though, I don’t know how trustful that stuff is”.
Mana just smiled at her partner’s words, conviction irradiating from her features.
“It’s decided then! We’ll go to the Digiworld together!” But as she was about to stand up, she stomach growled in a rather soundly fashion “A-ah, but I think that maybe we should grab a bite first. Want me to order for the three of us, Carrie-san? You look like the type that doesn’t eat that much and I’ve got some spare money. What do you want, then?

"Weird stuff..." She mumbled, clearly unhappy with this statement, a mix of sadness overcoming her for a few seconds. "You're welcome..." She looked at Akaya, confused at her. She'd only seen ones that bared resemblance of animals, but this one was some kind of plant monster. She took out her digivice to show Ayaka, hoping it would jog her memory, or at least show that hers was different than the normal ones. She blinked at the mention of peculiar... it figured she was the weird one, even when dealing with talking plants and animals. It was like a never-ending joke was being played on her. First she was taken out of England, then she started hearing and seeing things, now even the monsters from another dimension thought she was a freak.
She sighed, looking at Akaya. "Thank you anyway..." She turned her attention to the eager child, slightly worried. "Have you actually been there before? I-I would like to have someone who knows something about this place... n-not to say you're dumb! I-I just think it might be dangerous..." She blinked and nodded. "Um, I'll just have a small combo... I need to take my medicine anyways..." She took out a pill bottle.

“Alrighty! I’ll be right back!” Mana said as she went to pick the food. There wasn’t much people there, so she was back almost instantly with a salad, a small combo with a really big soda cup and a super jumbo combo with a lot of anything and everything.
“There you are! I figured you would want more soda because It’s really hard to swallow pills for me, and maybe it was hard for you too so… well, let’s eat!” she gave the salad to Ayaka, who munched from her hidden place on the chair while the girl ate the super jumbo combo ravenously.
“Oh, of course I have been in the digital world before! I went to replace my older brother on a cooking contest, it was a blast! Ah… such good times It’s not the bad place everyone says it is, really. Anyway, I don’t want to come across as impolite, Carrie-san, but I saw you were somewhat sad about your digivice. It’s something wrong?”
As she continued eating, she stealthily eyed the pill bottle Carrie was carrying, trying to figure why she was taking them. Maybe it was for her stuttering? That seemed like a real problem for the girl.

Carrie looked at the food, amazed at how much pocket change the little girl actually had. "Um... thank you." She said, cautiously taking it. After she set the burger and fries aside she took the soda and began taking her pills. She left the pill container on the table as she began into her meager burger.
As she listened to the child her interest piqued. "A... c-cooking contest? I... I was not expecting that, if I'll be honest..." Then came the comment about her digivice. "It's nothing... I'm just worried I won't get a partner of my own... that's all." She sighed, clearly lying. The bottle of pills sat with the label facing Carrie. The clear plastic container held a series of small capsules, much smaller than most of what the child might have seen.
"...Have you known Akaya long? You two seem pretty close... I-I don't see why you have to hide her, she looks just like a doll you'd play with at your age... I-I think she'd like it if you just held her in your arms..." She briefly pondered her situation. If she had a digimon how would she handle it? She doubted her parents would believe she had a dolly or a small animal... she honestly hoped it wouldn't be a problem.

Mana didn’t even have to try to know that Carrie was lying, but she choose to don’t push the issue further. It would only end badly if she didn’t trust her on her own accord. She then smiled widely at the older girl’s interest in her relationship with her digimon. “Well, I found her egg the day before yesterday and she hatched that same day” She took out her cellphone, showing the girl a picture of a small seedling with really big eyes “Wasn’t she cute? Thanks to the help of a friend, she could evolve into her current form, and I think that if she continues at that rhythm, she’ll grow up to her next stage in no time! I just hope she continues to be as cute as always when she does!” she cheerily said. She then heard Carrie’s question about why she didn’t act as if she was a toy “Well, she’s a pretty good actress, actually, but…” “Acting like a doll is unladylike, Carrie-san” the digimon said with a great deal of emphasis. “Ladies shouldn’t be forced to pretend to be something they don’t are, and while I occasionally do it out of necessity, I would prefer to not to do it at all” “That’s more or less it. So, Carrie-san, tell me something about you. When are we planning to go to the Digital World? We’re gonna have so much fun there! I just know it!

"Eggs? ...They're mammals and plants... but they come from eggs?" She looked slightly confused by this. As she looked at the photo and took at all in, she blinked. "...She's growing fast if she can talk already..." She pointed out. She listened to the Digimon's excuse, blinking as it seemed to have a personality outside of her tamer's, being more businesslike and formal while the little girl was quite obviously... not.
"I... see?" She bluffed, much better than her lies before. "...And about me? Well... um... I usually don't..." She was blushing again. "I-it's not that I don't trust you, it's just I don't usually... um well... I was born in England and my parents moved to Japan and... n-nothing else really happened besides that... Until today, I mean."

Ayaka seemed to be somewhat preoccupied of Carrie’s words.
“Oh, you did not know that we came from eggs?” she asked rhetorically “But you just said to us that you had met people with digimon before. Don’t tell me that didn’t explain anything to you about them! That’s so impolite of their part!” after that outburst, she seemed to calm down “And I just talked as if you knew all these things… I’m deeply sorry, Carrie-san. If you have any question regarding anything I said or anything about digimon in general, feel free to ask. I will answer them to the best of my capacity”
Mana, on her part, was more interested on what the girl had not said about herself.
“Aw, c’mon, Carrie-san, you don’t need to be humble about yourself!" she said to girl's apparent shyness about herself "I’m pretty sure you have done some amazing things, just don’t be shy! Anyway, that doesn’t answer my question about when do we plan to go to the Digital World. You just have to take it easy, and you'll see that's just a mirrored version of our world... except that there aren't humans and the animals there can talk! And... do some other stuff, of course! But you’ll see that we’ll handle ourselves just fine, I'm pretty sure about it!”
