Drunken Volition (Digimentle Hunt; Panz)

Despite being late in the evening, the festivities seemed to only be beginning in a small village in the Server Woods. It's apparently a special for this little village as digimon could be seen celebrating the night away. Though what the celebration is for didn't matter to M. He couldn't honestly care less about what this was all about. No, he was here for only one reason.
The prize for the local drinking competition.
He'd admit that he didn't particular like the idea of entering that sort of competition. Yet the prize was to big for him to pass up. Apparently it was an ancient digimantle that a local barkeep had managed to get his hands on. How a barkeep managed to get his hand on such a thing was irrelevant. M would have need of such a thing in the near future. Especially seeing how this body he's in doesn't seem to be able to reach it's Champion form.

"WOOOOOOOO!!!!
Amidst the celebrating digimon was a female Flamedramon, maskless with long, white hair. Like the others she was apparently having a ball. Even helped herself to a few drinks. The village was celebrating something or other... it didn't really matter. However, her secondary reason for being here was this celebration. In reality, she was to keep a lookout for M. Vetina couldn't do it because M could sense her about as well as she could sense him. So, keeping her distance and some asking around, she managed to find him before going back to Vetina earlier.
While taking in the comraderie of the villagers here, she kept on the lookout for M again, and spotted him.
"All we need are a few fireworks, you know!?" Briefly forming a fireball in her hand, she threw the blue mass of flames high into the air before it exploded. She did this a few times, much to the entertainment of some of the nearby villagers.
It's up to you now, Vetina. As for me... I wonder if there are any cute guys around..."
Some distance outside the town, the Ranamon Vetina kept watch for any signs. Seeing the blue flames from afar seemed like a good tipoff. Wasting no time, she quickly made her way to the area. Getting closer and closer, she began to feel him faintly. She was so close...

M stopped as he sensed something faintly. "Hmm... It seems the doll has finally found us. To bad. I was hoping to see that sister of yours first." He said to himself in a whispered voice as he looked in her general location, a small smile forming on his face as he felt Pure stir with the mention of his sister. It was just so easy and so much fun to mess with the Terriermon's body he had control of now.
"Very well. Let's see what she decides to do." He said with a shrug as he continued walking through the celebration. The thought that he should run did enter his head. But he quickly dismissed it as he came up with a better, more interesting plan.
He highly doubted she would just attack him out in the blue, especially in a highly populated area like this. No. He was willing to bet that she wanted answers. Answers that she believed that he would have. It didn't matter if he actually had the answers she was looking for or not. All that did was that she believed he did.
And that was something he could use to his advantage.

Vetina made it to the village outskirts, where her run became a brisk walk, allowing her spear to dissappear. Partially due to not making too much of a scene just yet by going in running with weapon drawn. Partially because she realized that he wasn't running. Surely he would feel her too by now! Or maybe that was what he wanted. Hopefully it wasn't to extract more data... or use Betty as some sort of bait... if he did that Vetina would never forgive herself.
Most of the villagers were too busy with their own joy to pay Vetina any mind. Even if they did, she ignored them. Perhaps this guy was banking on the fact that Vetina would not harm him while there were all these other digimon around.
She soon came up to him from behind, her walk slowed to a stop. She was a bit tense, and she admit, she did want to strike him down.
"You're not ignorant of my placement or inquiries, lest this chase be as such. But dash that folly of a notion that the setting provides any cover. And, please, release the Gatomon from the bag quickly."

M stopped as he felt Vetina getting close. There was no need to keep moving with her being so close. Not when he wanted her to find him.
And sure enough, she walked up right from behind him. He had to admit. He was half expecting her to strike. Good thing for her that she didn't. There would have been little chance M would have given her the answers then.
Yet he soon found his smirk drop into a frown. Gods. Could she not speak like a normal person for once? It's so infuriatingly trying to just understand what she says. M thought before taking a second to regain his composure. While he would of loved to speak his mind at this moment, he knew better then to do so. He had use for Vetina and didn't want to see that use be wasted just because of him saying something that'll anger her.
No. He needed to play this carefully inmorder to get Vetina to help him. If he does, then that digimantle is as good as his.
"Release the Gatomon out of the bag, you say? I'm sorry, but your going to have to be more specific then that." He said with a renewed smirk as he turned around. Of course he had an inkling of what she's talking about, but he wanted to be sure.

Vetina gave a sharp "Hmph" as M asked her to specify what she really wanted. But she had to comply.
"Then I'll bludgeon the reason. You partitioned off a section of myself for your means. Scummy waters are your ends. So why do it?"
Vetina briefly thought back to her rage when she first met M. How she wanted nothing more than to destroy him. But between her defeat at the hands of that Gazimon and Crystal, and now, she had thought about things. This brought up many questions she wanted to ask, but a good chunk of them she wouldn't mind not knowing the answer to. She had no reason to believe she would get them. Still...
"Let me amend the inquiry of purpose, with a second. Familiarity reflects off your eyes in regards to me. Perhaps... I hold no monopoly of knowledge of my being's relevant start. Simply... what am I?

Just as he thought. She wants to know both why he took her data, and who exactly is she? He would admit he expected a third question, but he wasn't complaining. He could definitely work with this.
"I'm not able to give you the details at this time, but I'll tell you that your data is important for something... Personal." M told her with a little smirk, "I might be willing to share some of the details with you, but only if you do me a favor first. In fact, as a sign of good faith, I'll share with you what you are just for agreeing to help me. So what do you say?"
((Sorry for the short post -_-))

It seemed like he was toying with her. Frankly she didn't want to take this, but something told her not to do anything rash... which she was partially fighting against. Perhaps he was being truthful... to a point. But she needed more than what he gave now. She spoke low, a bit menancingly, towards M.
"Vague nothings do little to quench my dry curiosity. Where do you even stand to offer them? You rudely partook of myself, yet here you are entertaining delusions to be non-disposable? Defective trash of a notion.
Your good faith alone is not ample currency, shade. My data for your personal effects is a bit of worth in info. So I will haggle once more, for your reasons to take me. What little mood I hold stays your demise. Tell me, and I'll entertain your favor."
Her fists clenched, looking at that smirk of his. She had no qualms in taking Pure's life with M's, so she hoped he would tell her somethng.

M feigned a sigh of defeat as Vetina pushed him to give her an answer that she's looking for. She even went as far as threaten his life. M had to hold back a laugh at the thought of her even thinking she could beat him. She may be more powerful, but he knew full well he would have complete advantage against her. Still, it's best not to cause a scene just yet. He might lose his only chance to get the digimantle.
"Very well then. I'll share with you this. Your are a special case to us Hylden, and that makes your data very valuable to us who wish to exist in this world. Your data holds the key to breaking us out of the unfortunate prison we were sadly born in." M shared surprisingly willingly to Vetina.
"Now I'm willing to share more with you, but only once I have something I possess something I have need of. You see, the local bartender is running a competition of sorts, where the prize is a digimantle. If you help me win it, I'll share with you whatever knowledge I possess that you wish to know. So is it a deal, or would you rather lose this chance to learn everything about yourself that I may know?" M wasn't sure if she would take him up on this offer, but was willing to raise the stakes for her if she decides not to.

It seemed she had managed to get M to be more specific about why he wanted her data. Her data could allow other Hylden to remain in this world, without possessing others it seems. This also confirmed to Vetina that she, too, was a Hylden... or at least part Hylden. She had no reason to believe that the original Vetina was a body snatcher. Does this mean that her suffering was to meet someone else's ends?
Vetina loosened up, thinking about the info M gave her. If this guy, indeed, did not hurt the original Vetina... perhaps he thinks she is the original. M never implied he was getting "more" data, just that he needed her data. It also might mean he doesn't know about Ghost, the HyldenImpmon. Granted if he did she was harder to get to. Ghost far out matched Vetina in power, and certainly it was true for M.
"What low, truth rings, to not even inquire a favor. But, a toxic hypothesis is that is just your being.
Anyway, the informative tender was ample enough. What constitutes this 'favor' requiring my services?"

So Vetina seemed to have accepted the information M gave her, and had decided to work with him. Good. Things were going according to plan. Now all he had to do was make sure she doesn't end up changing her mind.
"It's a simple enough task. As I said earlier, the local barkeep is hosting a competition of sorts. A drinking competition, to be more percise. All I need you to do is join the competition and help me win the prize. Two heads are better then one after all. Then once I get the prize I seek, I'll answer any other question you may have for me.
So does it sound like a deal?" M asked her simply, knowing that it was unlikely she would decline. The chance to get him drunk and answer any question she may have for him would hopefully be to much for her to decline. Besides, he didn't believe he was asking all that much from her. And if she did decline, so be it. He'll just have to return to back to plan A.

Vetina listened to M's favor, which was a drinking competition. The Ranamon had to admit, it was an odd and unexpected favor to have to enter into a drinking competition to help him get the prize. It almost seemed trivial, all things considered. But contrary to M's beliefs, she did not want him too drunk. Frankly, she believed his size did not lend itself to holding its liquor well, and she did not want him so drunk as to be unable to answer her questions.
"Whatever this material accolade is, fine. A parallel effort of inebriation endurance; a scene that baits a minutiae of worry or difficulty. But I question build stipulations."
Vetina de-digivolved to her Rookie form, crossing her arms. "My hypothesis, rookies or of equilivant volume. Now, let's quickly cross this bridge."

"Yes. Let's." M said as he laid the way.
While he had highly doubted she wouldn't, it was still nice to know she decided to assist him for the meager amount of info he had actually shared with her. Still it was enough that if any of the other Hylden learned of this, M expected they would be less then please. Yet then again, they weren't really pleased with him in the first place. So what's another black mark in their eyes.
It wasn't long before they had reached the bar that was hosting the little competition. The inside was jam pack full of patrons. Most were there for just the celebration. Yet there was a small sum of rookie and champion digimon and adult humans that were either brave or foolish enough to attempt to win this competition. They all had a pretty large table all to themselves as they wait impatiently for the competition to begin.
M approached the barkeep, a beefy Leomon who was wearing a stained apron, as he was cleaning some mugs and asked, "Ello there good sir. Me and my friend here would like to partake in the competition you hosting." The Leomon looked down at the two as if he was sizing them up.
"Are you sure you would want to do that little man? This isn't a competition for lightweights. Unlike your friend over there." The Leomon warned as he sniffed the air.
"You'll be surprised how well I can hold my liquor good sir." M replied with a confident smile.
"Is that so?" Leomon said as he took one last look at them, "Well seeing how neither of you smell like humans trying to use a holosuit to sneak past me, I guess you can go ahead. Take a seat by the rest of them and wait for the competition to begin." With that, M nodded at the barkeep and did what he asked.

Vetina followed the possessed Terriermon, figuring she would try to make the best of things. At the bar, M referred to them as friends. And referred to the bar keep as good sir. It was all worthy of an eye roll that she decided to not give. Friends or not, it wouldn't have made much difference, she thought. But the fewer problems, the better. As such, she also remained silent in front of the Leomon.
She sat down by M, sighing a bit.
"Your facade may even be pig level, 'good sir'." Regardless of whether or not he understood the words of her jab at his acting, the sarcasm was there. Looking around, she saw her competition. She was not too concerned, although she did not expect M to last too long. His size alone ensures he couldn't do much compared to basically everyone else.
"Perchance you retire now? Your stature lends little to alcohol resistance."

It seemed Vetina didn't appreciate his acting, not that M cared much for her opinion. He was willing to do whatever he can to get his prize, and if that meant buttering up the barkeep to make sure things go smoothly. Very well then. Calling the man 'sir' and calling Vetina his 'friend' was of little cost to him.
As for the competition itself, Vetina stated much the same as the barkeep before her. That his small stature wouldn't bode well for him for this type of competition. A sentiment that he expected most of those who saw him now shared. Yet that surprisingly didn't deter him as he glanced over at Vetina.
"I'll let you on a little secret." M whispered to Vetina so that she would be the only one to hear as a sly smile grew on his face, "A facade shows you only what one wants to reveal and nothing more."
Vetina wouldn't have long to ponder M's words as the barkeep grabbed hold of a nearby microphone, causing a soft screach from the speakers to ring out the noisy crowd. "Hello ladies and gentleman. As you all may know. These brave competitors have decided to test there endurance against each other in a drinking competition. With the grand prize being something special I was able to arrange specifically for the Festival. A digimantle.
"Now the rules are simple. This competition will be played out in rounds of sort. With each round, all of you will be given a mug of our special brew to drink. You won't have the time to just drink it at a leisurely pace, so don't dilly-dally. If you either are unable to finish the drink, give up, or pass out. Your out. The last man standing wins.
"Now with all that out of the way. Let the competition commence."
As he spoke, mugs of ale were being set out in front of all of the competitors. Each of them seemed to be anxious to get this party started. So once they had got the go ahead, they began chugging the brew down as if it was there life line. This was then followed by a rhythmic thump as the empty mugs were slammed down on the table. Even M seemed to have downed his first drink quite well, waiting for another.
