"It wasn't the traveling that was bad." Hiro admitted. He liked going to new places and learning new things. He wanted to make his world as big as possible, after all. "I just, I didn't transition that well when we moved."
Hiro thought back to the initial move. It had come suddenly. His parents had the bag habit of forgetting to mention things to Hiro until right before they happened. His brother heard of it ahead of time and could plan ahead, but Hiro was caught flatfooted. He didn't really have time to have a proper farewell to his friends and before he knew it he was in a brand new country with no friends, and little ability to communicate.
He had been a bit resentful and his bad mood had alienated him from his peers. By the time he had recovered and learned the language, the damage had been done. He had been labeled as a loner and he was mostly left alone to his own devices. It had been kind of painful. Hiro didn't mind solitude all that much, but he much preferred being around people. So he compared his life in Japan where he was surrounded by friends and his time in America where he was constantly lonely and couldn't help but hate the land of the free, just a little.
"Shun didn't have that problem. He just stayed here and continued his life, albeit without the rest of us. So I kind of resented him for that." Hiro shook his head as a bitter smile formed on his face. "Our first week living together was awkward."
Hiro stayed silent for a moment as his head filled with memories but he quickly shook them away by actually shaking his head. "Ugh, but enough about that." He watched Tetsu preen under Carrie's attention and his gaze went over to where Patch was occupying and a thought occurred. "You know, did we ever talk about where Patch and Gotsumon came from? I mean, when did they appear exactly? I just found Tetsu in my bag out of nowhere."
