It had been quite a few days since Iko's first visit to Beverly, in Caritas, and save for one little incident in Rustport, Iko had not done much to follow up on his supposed occupation. It was frustrating, but such were the qualms of having a human partner, with his own obligations and work. Still, the wolf's eagerness to get right back into this set the tone for Luke: their visits to the Digital World were going to seem much more routine for a while. And as for why they found themselves here than the club, well...
The wolf had made a suggestion. And he figured, why not have it be their starting point? A good extension to the docks would serve wonders around here! At least, that was Iko's thought, as he returned from checking the edges of the current pier. "As you thought, Luke, completely sanded off. There would be a lot of redoing the woodwork to get it to line up right."
"Figures." Luke found himself at a cafe stand at the side of the beach, a large stretch of engineering paper in front of him. This had already been an exhausting, hands-on day, earning quite a few strange stares from the other Digimon around as they stepped up and down the pier, not for the sights, but seemingly looking at the floor. It was for this purpose, as Luke now had a full blueprint of the structure - not of just the pier, but the supports below, the full electrical, the works! And so, on a fresh copy, he worked through an extension: with estimated depths and tidal patterns, he was curious if they could get a full marina set up out here. "Hm... no, that just shuts off too much of the beach... maybe a platform?"
"Right, and cut off the fishing area? Sheesh..." Iko set his hand on the side of the table, looking it over. He was used to Luke's work at this point, and for a while, the two would simply be discussing the theoretical part here. And honestly, they'd be at it for another hour or so, if no-one came to interrupt them!

An extension to the docks... Vetina had heard that Bev had gotten a hired hand or two to help run things. It's not exactly public knowledge, as what leader publicly announces each and every worker under them? But Vetina wasn't your usual passerby in more ways than one.
Of course, Vetina didn't officially work for Bev. And not in a "super secret actually hired by her" sort of way. But she was still close to the new leader of Whitewater as a acquaintance. At this point Vetina is still here as a favor, mostly to deal with the Tweek issue. However, actively looking for Tweek or his clones would prove to be fruitless no matter what at the moment.
This was downtime for her, and she needed a way to kill time.
That human, Iko, and the digimon Luke. Or whatever their names were... seemed to be rather seasoned. But this was merely a guess with no real thought put into it outside of Beverly probably not hiring these guys if they were green, so to speak.
At the moment, Vetina had taken up her Ranamon form. She hadn't been keeping the closest of eyes at Luke and Iko either, she was simply around already, taking glances at the construction and whatnot. But it was time to make herself known.
Too bad they were at a construction site, though. Would have been nice to spar with them.
She made her way to them from behind. Placing her spear flat end down, she leaned on it, over the two's shoulders a bit, and looked at the blueprints.
"Aye, what may the azure plans speak? Can't make out a coins sides myself without my pal usually.
But construction is construction. Looks like the fresh head is peering to compound. Jovial would be my color in seeing this place placed."

Well, there wasn't any construction yet. All Luke had set up was some surveying equipment, but aside from that corner, the pier was still fully open to the public. And most passers-by just gave the two a glance before going about their own business, Luke and Iko lost in their own technical words.
"So maybe if we route it through a metal beam at the side - hm?" Luke's idea about wiring was cut off by the Ranamon - to a first glance by Luke, an aqua-type female Digimon - as the pair turned to face them. "Well, glad to hear someone wants to see this place redone. Sorry, don't think I caught a name-"
"... Vetina, right?" Half guessing, Iko tilted his head, and offered a hand. "Name's Iko. The mastermind behind this is Luke." He pointed over his shoulder, the human giving a sigh as he was introduced so casually. "Yeah, yeah, take center stage you friggin politician..."
Really, though, Iko just left Luke to the blueprints for a moment. "As for what they speak, though... well, the pier's just too small. Can only be used for business and a bit of market, but a lot of 'mons around here want to see the water for what it is. So we're seeing what we can do to get up a more social part of the pier - a place that can support restaurants, stands, that sort of thing. Though if you ask me, it just sounds like putting down a lot of planks..."
"Which is why I'm drawing it up and you aren't!" Luke retorted, with a chuckle.
"Anyway... if you don't mind me asking, what do you do 'round here? Haven't heard much about you, just a name or two in passing."

"Oh? It seems you've a grip on my handle. Hm."
The ranamon took Iko's hand, shaking it. She was a bit surprised to see that someone knew of her enough to easily put a name to a digimon. Granted, given her speech it probably wouldn't be too hard if you knew what to look for.
"Aye, I'm Vetina. Seeds and carvings are wares I peddle in the area. Minute knick knacks, but of a loving labor.
But... I've no confidence in my ability to check the pulse of the town. What would nurture, so on. So, no, I shan't attempt to make an effort that bears nothing.
Now, you two... you seem to be a snap at rolling with a situation. Yes, yes, you are quite seasoned. Perhaps Beverly's hand granted a good pick, no? "
She rubbed her chin, humming a bit to herself. As she did so, she imagined the pier extended in the way described to her. However, unlike Bev, Vetina wasn't particularly attached to Whitewater. But this might be interesting.

"Well, I have a good set of ears is all."
Pleasantries aside, Vetina didn't seem that dissimilar to the rest of the Digimon in the area: a market owner who was interested in her own stake, and saw the city as a home, but was a resident more than a piece of its foundation. The wolf gave a smile at her compliment. "Ah, you flatter me. To us, its more about taking what opportunities are out there. And something like this will be a good step in Beverly keeping a content city... not that that's the only reason we took up this job."
That was true to a point, but also the words of a politician, something which got Luke to shake his head. Picking up on that, Iko got back on topic: "Ah, yes... its less about that, and more about doing what we're able. Once my partner's got the plan drawn up and presented to the head, this area will be a bit difficult to traverse for a while. I might suggest looking up at how the traffic will be on the far coast, for your business."
"Ah, this can... Iko, you mind giving me a minute? I think I struck an idea here."
"Hm." With a nod to his partner, Iko gave a shrug. "Well, looks like I got a break. Heck, mind showing me what kind of wares you sell? Or, just show me around the market in general. Suffice to say, I'm kind of new here, myself!"

The Ranamon gave a slight chuckle when asked to show her wares, although she wondered if she wasn't clear enough on a particular aspect of her business. Assuming that being the case, she explained herself.
"Perhaps the window is a bit muddied to my means. Much like the relocatable food court of a Miss Lily, my wares aren't planted in mortar and brick, but a simple set to be placed when needed.
My residence here, indeterminate is may be, is but fleeting. One day it'll blow away upon winds of travel.
But yonder there, a gaze will reveal a distant cohort and my shop."
Pointing her spear inland, a distance away was a somewhat visible table with bags around it and a sign stating that seeds and carvings were sold there. A lone Flamedramon was sitting down, dozing off.

Iko understood it quite well, though he still gave a nod at the Ranamon's clarification. "Aye, its how a lot of people are at the market: sell stuff in season, pack up and drag what's left back home. From fish to necessities to knick-knacks, you only really see that kind of shopping here, and in Terminus' market street." He gave a look over, and a tentative wave to the Flamedramon.
A slow market day? Well, that would explain why Vetina was all the way over here, rather than in the middle of business. "Hm... wish I could get used to living like that, but I'm trying to plant my feet down here in Whitewater. Hence me taking such a big bid with Beverly..." Was that much obvious? He just gave a shrug, turning back to the conversation at hand.
"Still, even as a wanderer, what would you like to see done to this area? Luke and I have our own plans, but this is something everyone will use. This would be a great help to see what would be useful to... well, traveling merchants, and tourists!"
That would be worth something, right? If nothing else, he had to keep a good face around here, and a politician who could deliver would be exactly what Beverly needs!

Betty yawned, and then stretched a bit. Yawned again. This was super boring. She managed to catch the wave to her, but didn't think it was to her anyways. She also thought she saw Vetina over there.
Perhaps that wave was for her.
Zzzzzzzz....
Meanwhile, Vetina quickly shook her head at the prospect of suggesting a change to the area. Or something along those lines.
"Nay, my operations are of the mode of adaptation, not projection. 2 fold with my knowledge of this town being like the back of the hand of a stranger.
What comes, comes. Let the more invested make investments. What's the words of a fledgling entrepreneur anyway."
Betty woke back up, and decided to walk on over to the others. She wasn't worried about someone stealing anything, and it was, indeed, a slow business day.
