The Moon comes over the Tower [PLOT] [5/5]

Well, well, wasn't that a familiar face! As the two groups finally met at the entrance of the valley, Luke and Iko would once more meet up with Marshal and Coronamon. Iko immediately returned a smirk and a nod, and Luke gave an affirming nod a moment later. "Ah, hi! I barely recognized you with the new hair!"
"That's great, and all," Iko nodded back, "But we really need to do something about that Tyrannomon." Though, their odds seemed good: counting the Dracomon and the Guilmon, the count was seven rookies against one champion, something that the squirrel considered a relatively even fight. K had healing power, Amy was - well, a human for now. The Wormmon could be a tricky fighter, and Coronamon had proven that he could give and take hits at least as well as the squirrel!
So, what was the plan?
"What do you think, Luke?"
"Hm... let's run decoy." Iko blinked at Luke's flat response. "Wait, you're suggesting that-"
"Mhm!" Luke smirked, and hunched down into a position to start a sprint. "It's what we can do, right now. I'm quick enough on my feet."
"If you say so... alright, wait for the Tyrannomon to be looking the other way!"' And with that, Luke would press off, and bolt straight down the valley! To draw attention, the green line on Iko's tail gave an emerald glow, a blade forming and arching just behind his back. For now, he was nowhere in the range to use it.
But like this, Luke would advance off to the right side, even flinging a rock as he ran to try and draw the dragon's attention!
Luke is advancing, forward and right! Iko prepares 'Crescent Blade'!

"So this giant lizard's got something to do with that big pointy thing?" Wormmon looks around at all the different Rookie Digimon. Surely their strength in numbers could subdue one Champion, with the right game plan. Guilmon offers the group a nice meal for completing this task. Wormmon is hungry now, but he decides to tough it out and deal with business first. "Well, I may be hungry, but if you'll give us food later, then let's kick some lizard butt!" As if Wormmon was ever not hungry unless after already eating a few servings. Guilmon and Dracomon seemed to know more about what was going on with the tower, so Wormmon decides it is best to listen to them.
The group starts preparing to ambush the unsuspecting Champion. Whatever this collar was, it was preventing Dark Tyrannomon from being sent down to Rookie like the others. "Hey, wait a minute... If that collar is allowing him to stay as a Champion, why don't we try to break it, you guys?" The Worm King might be on to something here. Far be it for Wormmon to be the one coming up with plans, that was something Dante would likely do. Maybe unlocking the memories from his past life gave Wormmon an insight into battle that he previously lacked. Or maybe it was just a case of a broken clock being right twice a day, and a simple solution being seen by an airheaded worm.
The Worm King prepares for battle. Amongst the anxiety of getting ready to fight, Wormmon is excited to see what the other Digimon bring to the table. "You know, K, I don't think I've seen you fight before. You must have all sorts of cool powers, being a Renamon. Not that I'm jealous. It doesn't get any better than being the Worm King after all." Wormmon knew from experience that Marshall and Coronamon were more than capable. Even fighting at the Rookie level, their experience assured their skill. Wormmon crawls up on top of a hillside overlooking Dark Tyrannomon. He shoots a few silk threads, making a small web to maneuver around, as he prepares to attack DT from above after other Rookies make their first move. (Thinking) "Just gotta wait for the right time. I'm not used to battling without Dante around. At least I'm in good company. When I find Dante, I'll tell him all about how we took on a Champion and demolished that tower."

The two rookies seemed to be a bit out of sorts, like they were rushed or something. But this problem likely had just sprung up or something. But from out of the group a small plan seemed to emerge. Distract the Tyrannomon, get the Guilmon close and have them break the tower. K let out a thoughtful hum and glanced back at the Tyrannomon.
The guilmon and Dracomon seemed to be used to being in their champion states, with the way they messed up their introductions. One of the humans stated that they could count on them [along with their partner of course]. They likely had some tricks or something to keep themselves going so she might not have to worry about them too much. She'd have to keep aura handy however just in case they didn't.
The other human however asked what did they have to do? Their statement about the "big red lizard" being dangerous actually made the renamon pause after a moment. Did they not have a partner? Or were they a spirit user? She had only met one of those after all and she doubted they were all that common.
"Helping running distraction is important; but it also depends on what can you do?"
There was a note of concern. Was she like dante and lost their partner somehow? That'd be bad if that was the case, she'd be better off helping the Guilmon get to the tower. She'd shake her head a little bit turning to the other human, only to find them talking to one another.. And then charging in.
".....Oh he just. All right. I guess we're doing this now."
K would sigh, glance back at wormmon. Break the collar? She might have something to do that potentionally. But it'd be a long shot. It could cut through trees and such with ease, barring they weren't too thick. She'd snort softly and give the wormmon a small smile.
K would put her two "pointer" fingers together exhaling and concentrating for a moment. Drawing the energy from her body and making it focus along their length. When the energy reached the proper density she'd draw her hands outwards. Rather than a sigil or something you'd expect from a mystical sort of digimon. What appeared was rather simple. A long rather simple looking blade, Made for slashing movements more than stabbing ones. However it was purely made of energy.
"Nothing fancy really, Just Saberk."
Giving a soft snort and a shake of the head she'd run after luke. She'd want to get close, launch some waves of energy at the Tyrannomon. At best she could keep him distracted for what? Maybe five.. ten minutes tops? She wasn't sure really, she hadn't fought a champion digimon as a rookie before. She'd have to be nothing less but careful.... As careful as one could be when charging into the action.

By some turn of fate, it seemed that many of the individuals in the area knew each other, and better still, seemed to be pleasant with each other. That was good, at least in the sense that perhaps they could have a more coordinated effort in order to take down the dark tower.
Dracomon confirmed what the girl was saying. "Yes, that's right. The tower's jamming evolutions and it seems to be defended by the Tyrannomon. And as you can see, a lot of us dragons have wings, so, a lot of digimon could, well, crash if forced to de-digivolve mid-flight".
What she would have to do? Guilmon looked curiously at her. "Ah... sorry, miss, do you have a partner or anything?" he asked. "I'm not sure there's much a human by themselves can do here..."
Dracomon then gasped as one of the humans and his partners decided to distract the Tyrannomon right away. It seemed that they were going to attempt to get right into it. As Luke approached, the Tyrannomon would turn his head, a deep rumbling noise coming from his throat. As he tracked his movements, he was struck on the side by the power of the Renamon's Saberk. The energy attack barely managed to graze his thick dinosaur hide, but at the least it drew his attention. And he replied with a glowing stream of fire, aimed straight at her.
"Oh no, watch out!" Guilmon cried.

Just like that, Luke and Iko ran off to take on the rampaging Tyrannomon. Marshal and Coronamon, not to be outdone, were following closely behind. Marshal checked the D-Arc in his hand, which appeared to be somewhat unresponsive. However, another device in his posession seemed to be functioning normally. A quick look at the D-Terminal gave Marshal hope that an old power would become their saving grace in this battle.
Coronamon, meanwhile, wasted no time in trying to get the fight started against Tyrannomon. He jumped up in the air over Iko and the Renamon and shouted out an attack. "Corona Knuckle!" he called as his fist coated itself in flame and he brought it down on the beast's head.
Marshal stayed a safe distance away, reminding himself that since he wasn't Biomerged, he was now significantly more squishy and breakable. Instead, he had a strategy burning in his head, but was stuck in the planning phase at the moment. "The three of us should be able to focus on Tyrannomon!" he shouted out as he turned back to others behind him. "The rest of you should focus on destroying that weird tower!"

Well, that had been a pretty quick start, at least for pretty much everyone else. Seemingly, they already knew what they had to do way too well; that was a relief, wasn't it? If anything, Amelie could just sit down and watch as the fireworks went off; easy enough right? Heh, she wished. The lizards and the fox's various explanations were good enough at promoting something within her to act. Or maybe it was just the fact that she heavily disliked the vaguely condescending tone directed at her. Anyhow... Gazing at her right palm, she noticed that those familiar ribbons of fractal code were already adorning it; the rest would be simple, wouldn't it? As soon as she brought those into her D-Tector things would... change. Well, she would change. "Is that ring-thing on the dino's neck supposed to be part of it? Because otherwise... that might be a clue to defeat it." Or maybe it was just a red herring; not like that mattered for her anymore. The brunette brought her D-Tector with her spare hand, both colliding as the fractal code began to undo and expand, enveloping her whole body and triggering the evolution. That resulted in... nothing? If that was a disappearing act, it had been quite good.

Well, now that was the opposite of what Luke intended to have happen: after winging a rock at the Tyrannomon, K decided to make much more of a show of herself with 'Saberk', and the red dragon's attention was swiftly drawn to the fox. Indeed, the fox might have been in a bit of a bind, but as Luke gave a 'tch' and as Coronamon blitzed towards the beast themselves, Iko simply whispered in Luke's ear:
"Ignore it. Keep moving... let's wrap around." The tip of Iko's bladed tail pointed towards the shadow cast behind the spire, and at that point, it clicked in Luke's head. Harsh as it was, Luke completely ignored Marshal's call, and kept up with his full athletic sprint, cutting a wider arc around the area. With Tyrannomon focused on Coronamon and K, Luke and Iko would try and use this opportunity to slip around to the other side of the spire, and put the building between themselves and the Tyrannomon, as well as the group.
"You sure, here?"
"Definitely, we'll be exactly where we need to be." Hoping the rest of the group was loud and distracting enough for the Tyrannomon, should the two make it that far, they would run in and take cover behind the obelisk!

And so it was on. Part of the group would distract the Tyrannomon while Amelie heads to the tower. K attacks the rampaging Champion with her Saberk attack. This was Wormmon's chance to catch Tyrannomon off guard. "Look out below! Here I come!" Wormmon shoots a thread over towards the hill on the other side, and swings across heading right towards Tyrannomon. Wormmon fires a few threads of silk on the way down, but they barely scratch the Champion. Apparently this dark ring also increases his defense, widening the gap they already had to overcome fighting a Champion at their Rookie levels.
Wormmon keeps swinging down, heading right towards the dino Digimon before smacking right into his side like a fly on a windshield. Wormmon bounces off Tyrannomon and tumbles to the ground. He slowly gets up, his head still spinning. "Oww, my game plan backfired." The Tyrannomon fired a scorching attack at K for attacking him earlier. Wormmon tries to get away from the fiery blast, but is caught by the edge of the attack. The fire burns Wormmon on the bum, sending him into full out panic mode as he hops around in agony. "Ahh hot hot hot hot!!" Finally Wormmon puts the fire out by rubbing his backside in the dirt. "Ahh, much better."
The Worm King now found himself within range of the menacing Tyrannomon. Luckily he was more focused on the other Digimon attacking currently. Wormmon slowly crawls backwards, coming up with a new strategy. If only they could slow him down long enough to get that dark ring off. "Ya! Come on, K, kick his lizard butt! Let's go, Iko and Coronamon!" It was tough enough going up against a Champion, but with that dark ring, most of Wormmon's attacks were ineffective. Maybe if he could use his silk thread to trip him up, he could help stall Tyrannomon. Then again, if they take down the tower or deactivate the ring, maybe this was a nice Digimon after all, only acting evil because of the ring controlling him.

So her saberk did nothing to pierce it's thick hide? It was a little frustrating but it was something she should of expected. It was a champion tier after all. Immediately after her attack, the Coronamon put one out too. Their tamer calling out that the three of them should be able to focus on this, while the others would focus on the tower.
Wasn't the plan already that though? She wouldn't really be able to give it a second thought as a stream of fire was launched in her direction. She'd snarl and leap to the right, managing to get her left side caught by the fire. It was a pain she recognized and she could feel her fur start to light up. So now she was what? Partially on fire with some spots that hadn't caught ablaze?
K noted that Wormmon attempted to do some attacks only to be caught out by the fire. In a somewhat humorous but out of place way. She spun her Saberk in a small circle and then launched another few energy waves as she attempted to get closer. She needed to hit it's ring with her Saberk. Or at least try and see if she could break it. It wouldn't just sit by and let her do that would it though?

"Yeah, that might be it!" Dracomon answered the human. "The ring could be controlling him! After all, why would a proud dragon digimon like him defend such a monstrosity of his own free will?"
Tyrannomon was barely affected by the fire of Coronamon's attack, but he did feel the impact of his punch. Even though his skull was thick and strong, he growled, turning his head to the fire lion.
Curiously, one of the humans promptly disappeared. Tyrannomon didn't seem to notice, but Dracomon and Guilmon saw, then looked at each other with wonder. Was this human one of the fabled spirit wielders? They had never seen one before...
The two dragon digimon then saw that Luke was running in an arc around the Tyrannomon. They immediately followed him, running as fast as they could. They knew they had no chance against the Tyrannomon, but maybe they could help to take down the tower?
Then, the Wormmon came swinging in hard at Tyrannomon, who felt about as much pain as he did from the Coronamon's attack. As for the Renamon, it seemed that she had been hit hard with his Blaze Blast. But now there were two digimon nearby that posed a threat to the mind-controlled dinosaur. And multiple digimon that needed to be dealt with? The dark tower glowed momentarily as data written on the black stone lit up from bottom to top, relaying its orders, and conversely, the dark ring on Tyrannomon's ring also glowed.
And so he attacked, aiming to hit the Coronamon, Wormmon and everyone else standing within range, his feet glowing orange as he stomped several times on the ground. Then, the earth was rendered asunder with shockwaves, the rocky battlefield shaking so violently that those standing within fifty metres would surely lose their footing.
Field Effect: Control Spire - Evolutions above Rookie or Armor Champion/Human Fragment will be sealed.
- Digimon under the effect of Dark Rings have Defense increased by 50% and do not have their evolutions sealed, but lose control over their bodies.
Enemy Digimon: Tyrannomon
Level: Champion
- Tyrannomon is hit by Corona Knuckle and Wormmon's attack.
Combat Passive 1: Dino Hide - Tyrannomon's hide is thick and difficult to penetrate. Attacks without piercing properties will have damage reduced by 50%. Furthermore, the hide is resistant to fire, but weak to ice.
Combat Passive 2: ?
Attack used: Quake - Tyrannomon's feet glow with fiery orange energy, then he stomps on the ground several times, creating a localized earthquake that will knock down and deal small damage to all digimon standing within 50m of him Of course, has no effect on flying digimon. [Cooldown: 1 turn].
Obviously Tyrannomon is standing at least 60m from the tower.
Ally digimon: Dracomon and Guilmon
Level: Rookie
- Dracomon and Guilmon decide to follow Luke, catching on that he would lead them to the Control Spire where they can work to destroy it.

Coronamon flipped away from Tyrannomon as he stomped on the ground, but wasn't in the air long enough to avoid the effects of the Quake. He tripped and stumbled around, not able to find his footing after landing. Marshal, meanwhile, was ready to put his plan into motion. Luke and Iko were quick to ignore his suggestion, but it would be okay! The D-Terminal seemed to be functioning normally, and that meant that it could still interface with the D-Arc. This would hopefully level the playing field a bit. "Coronamon, get ready!" he shouted out. "Digi-Armor, Energize!" The two devices began to glow in tandem, and it seemed that Coronamon would actually be able to Armor Digivolve! "Coronamon Armor Digivolve to...Lynxmon, the Blaze of Justice!"After a moment, the blazing lynx appeared on the battlefield, ready to fight. It had been a while since they had needed to call upon this form, but drastic times called for drastic measures. Marshal looked at the D-Arc after the evolution took place. It seemed to be more responsive, showing that the card reader was active. He quickly pulled out his card and tried to find a good one for the job. He had given most of his cards to Maia a while ago, but still had a few basic cards that might do well in this situation. "Digi-Modify!" he called, quickly drawing a worthy card and slashing it. "Berserker Protocol, Activate!"Lynxmon began to glow with a red aura, and wasted no time in keeping up his assault on Tyrannomon. "Wild Nail Rush!" he called, slashing mercilessly at the giant dinosaur. He focused around Tyrannomon's neck, trying to damage or break the strange black ring. Happy to see that his theory was correct, Marshal tried to call out to the others. "If any of you guys have the ability to Armor Digivolve, it still seems to work!" he shouted. "We can turn the tables in our favor!"

Attacks flew by, most of them being utterly ineffective against the Tyrannomon. This was going to be a very drawn-out battle, wouldn't it? Right now, the options were mostly two.
One, try to attack the ring and hopefully bring the digimon back to his senses? Then again, the theory about it being related to that dark obelisk was just that, a theory; believing on that notion blindly could go badly for them... not to mention that red lizard seemed to be hella tough. Or to just attack the tower directly, hoping that some number of attacks would be good enough to eventually bring it down.
Stridermon kept advancing, her movements a silent glide through the field. For now, she would ignore the battle currently going underway, and instead would focus on reaching the tower as soon as she could. If anything, it was painfully obvious how resistant their living opponent was to being damaged, but... what about the construction itself? That was a question they didn't have an answer for yet.
And one she would be glad to find out about. If she had succeeded in closing the distance, one of her upper limbs would ball out in a mass of tendrils before colliding with the obelisk. It wasn't a particularly strong attack, but it would be a good starting point on measuring how solid this thing was. —Stridermon's trying to close the distance and get next to the tower.
—If she succeeds, she'll use a basic attack in the tower, ending Reality Spasm.

As Luke and Iko finally reached their destination, well, they'd be pretty out-of-sight of the fight: taking brief cover behind the pillar, Luke chanced a glance around, finding that the Tyrannomon was a good sixty meters away, at least! And even better, both Guilmon and Dracomon had followed along this wide path. Presuming they could get to this same point of cover, the squirrel would give a grin!
"Alright, not what I planned," Iko admitted, "But this is perfect. That Tyrannomon's probably going to notice the moment we start attacking this thing, but..."
"Ah, I get ya. If we only got one shot, let's pile it all in at the same time." He nodded, hopefully nodding with the dragons in agreement, Luke quickly drawing out his own modify card. Luke flicked it through the device without much fanfare - Berserker Protocol, a red glow forming around the squirrel - but otherwise, this was just going to be a combined effort.
"On three, use the strongest move you have at the base. One..."
"Two..."
"Three!" And Iko gave a swing, the extended energy blade from his tail slamming into the tower's side! "Crescent Blade!"
Following this, the squirrel would jump back a few feet, letting whatever physical or breath attacks the dragons wanted to use go through, unimpeded! Heck, even Stridermon could get a shot in, if she could cover the distance!
Berserker Protocol in effect: +Atk, -Def Iko has expended the earlier-created Crescent Blade.

Wormmon's attack didn't do much, but against a Champion level, every hit helped as the group slowly chips away at Tyrannomon's health. Then the brainwashed dragon Digimon started stomping around, triggering a small earthquake around him. Wormmon bounces around as the ground below shakes and trembles. The Worm King had taken a few hits, but he wasn't about to roll over yet. "Settle down, ya fat lizard! You can't take us all on." As part of the group continues to distract the Champion level, the others have reached the dark spire. Now how to disable this strange device.
Wormmon may be a lot stronger in his Rookie Stage than before, but he was still limited going up against a Champion. Tyrannomon would have no problem breaking free from his Sticky Net, and if he couldn't trap the Champion in his net, he was left with his Silk Thread, and Dark Seed attacks. Since Wormmon had been banged up quite a bit in the earthquake, Wormmon switched tactics. He stands up on his tail, and launches a seed from his mouth towards Tyrannomon. "Take that, courtesy of the Worm King! We won't back down, even though your breath smells like carcasses."
If the Dark Seed hits its target and burrows into Tyrannomon's scaly hide, it will slowly syphon his health back to Wormmon, both draining some health, and allowing Wormmon to stay in the battle longer. This technique would prove to be useful provided it lands, as they needed to buy more time to destroy the spire. They might not have what it takes to bring him down while they are still all in their Rookie forms, but if the dark spire is destroyed, they should be able to Digivolve just fine. Maybe this dragon wasn't so nasty after all. Just a pawn captured and manipulated by whoever constructed these bizarre towers.

Insect Agility: Wormmon can jump, dive, and dodge very quickly. This gives them an advantage against large opponents, greatly increasing their chance to dodge melee attacks from Digimon larger than an average Rookie.

From what she could tell, the last round of attacks didn't make too much of a dent into this champion tier digimon. Was there something making it stronger? Was that something that the ring did? Or something the tower did? Either way it was frustrating.
When the tyrannomon stomped, K was caught up and stumbled. She fell flat on her face and had to take a moment to stand up. The coronamon seemed to digivolve into a Lynxmon shortly after the stomp; which mean that armor digivolutions still worked. It was a pity she didn't have one of those. They were quick to launch an attack and she'd have to consider her options.
The other human and their digimon were no where to be seen immediately. she had to guess they either ran.. or got to the tower at this point. She had to hope for the latter.
Then there was wormmon, an individual she still was unsure about for the most part. Though they launched some attacks of their own. She had to admit maybe they had a point; but the Tyrannomon didn't seem to care.
K let out a huff and took a running start towards the Tyrannomon. Her Saberk was still going strong, so more energy waves were launched at him. If she was able to get close enough she'd jump up and try to bring the blade to bear on the Ring.
