By now, the sun had set, and the sky was gradually turning from orange to indigo as night was beginning to fall. But the light of a full moon lingered over the battlefield, setting a somewhat haunting scene as fire flew everywhere. The data on the walls of the Control Spire grew even more prominent in the fading sunlight.
Tyrannomon roared in anger as he was suddenly set upon by an Armor level Lynxmon, who slashed at him around the throat area. He tried to slash him away, but as a Tyrannomon, his arms were too short to do much. There were some deep gashes in both his hide and the metal of the Dark Ring as a result.
But... something strange was happening at the Dark Tower. Its data was glowing strangely, a wave of light flowing up its side. Then, a large sphere of light appeared at its tip, then, in a flash too fast to be dodged, a laser beam connected it with Lynxmon. The digimon would feel a short twinge of pain, as well as a lingering feeling of a brief bout of confusion. Its only real effect would be that he would not be able to use that attack again for a short amount of time.
Furthermore, the Wormmon tried another attack, a leaching effect. The seed hit Tyrannomon and the effect was true, but again, the effect was very small. After all, the seed couldn't completely pierce his hide, and thus would only siphon off a small amount of energy. Not enough to make a difference just yet.
Meanwhile, the other digimon attacked the Dark Tower. Taking Iko's lead, Dracomon launched an explosive fireball, above the melee attackers. And Guilmon meanwhile launched himself at the tower, slashing away at its base with his claws. Furthermore, the other human reappeared and added her strike to the tower's base. And Iko's tail blade struck the tower as well.
This made Tyrannomon turn his attention immediately. A blazing light ignited in his mouth, and a second Blaze Blast was launched. While they were at the other side of the tower, Tyrannomon aimed it at the ground so that it would explode and catch the attackers within its area of effect. This all happened so fast that it seemed to be automatic, in that it seemed the Tyrannomon was conditioned to automatically attack whoever fired at the tower.
And so Dracomon and Guilmon yelled with pain and fright as they were caught unawares by the blast, being knocked away several feet. The heat didn't affect them as much though, their dragon hides protected them.
As it happened, he missed the Renamon's move, and she added her blade attack to the mix. Tyrannomon roared again, but, more damage was given to the dark ring.
Field Effect: Control Spire - Evolutions above Rookie or Armor Champion/Human Fragment will be sealed.
- Digimon under the effect of Dark Rings have Defense increased by 50% and do not have their evolutions sealed, but lose control over their bodies.
Enemy Digimon: Tyrannomon
Level: Champion
- Tyrannomon is hit by Wild Nail Rush, Dark Seed and Saberk's energy waves. The Dark Ring sustains damage.
Combat Passive 1: Dino Hide - Tyrannomon's hide is thick and difficult to penetrate. Attacks without piercing properties will have damage reduced by 50%. Furthermore, the hide is resistant to fire, but weak to ice.
Combat Passive 2: Tower Defense - Under the effect of the Dark Ring, the Dark Tower aids those under its control. A silver laser will strike from the tip of the tower that will hit any Armor or Human Fraction level digimon that launch an attack at him. The effect of this laser is minimal damage, but the cooldown of the attacking move is increased by 2 turns.
This effect increases the cooldown of Lynxmon's Wild Nail Rush to 2 turns.
Attack used: Blaze Blast - Shoots a stream of fire at a target, aiming to damage them and those standing close to them for an AoE range of 5m.
Aimed at Iko, Amelie, Guilmon and Dracomon, hitting the ground slightly behind the tower.
Ally digimon: Guilmon and Dracomon
Level: Rookie
Combat Passive Ability: Dragon Hide - Both Dracomon and Guilmon are covered with solid dragon scales that reduce the damage from fire elemental attacks by 50%, but increases damage from Ice attacks by 50%.
Dracomon uses Baby Breath on the Control Spire.
Baby Breath - Fires a blast of fire that bursts with a small explosion of heat and shock.
Guilmon uses Rock Breaker on the Control Spire.
Rock Breaker - Guilmon's claws catch on fire and he charges forward, aiming to shatter a hard obstacle in his path.
- Guilmon and Dracomon are hit by Blaze Breath's AoE effect, but damage is reduced by their Dragon Hide ability.

Lynxmon was a little miffed that the Tyrannomon was ignoring him. "Hey!" he shouted. "Your fight is with me! Wild Nail Rush!" He tried to use his technique again, but it didn't seem to happen, as if the ability to do it had been lost. Confused, he decided instead to get in between Tyrannomon and the others at the tower. "Thermal Mane!" Lynxmon roared. He shot a steady stream of fire at Tyrannomon. He seemed to be resistant to fire based on the fact that Coronamon's Corona Knuckle did almost nothing. Marshal, meanwhile, decided to back up. The D-Arc was still acting up, and it looked like he wouldn't be able to slash another card for a bit. Instead of being in the way, he had learned that he wasn't invincible in his time with Coronamon.
Lynxmon uses Thermal Mane.

The thrill of the situation was exhilarating, and that was probably an understatement. The mere moment Stridermon’s lattices collided against the dark surface, a sensation that could only be described as overwhelming joy invaded the being’s psyche. She had dealt damage, and had irrevocably prompted a reaction from the obelisk and its guardian.
Exactly what she had intended. The fiery stream that followed suit affected the digimon head on, flames engulfing many of the tendrils and lattices that constituted Stridermon’s makeshift limbs. Some of the of the appendages that the digimon used for finer task were reduced to little more than charred matter at this point, but she didn't care. Not like she was going to do anything that required precise movements at the moment.
Despite the damage sustained, the digimon showed no signs of being in pain, panicking or anything of the sort. A small pause ensued, and while the terrain below her gasped its last, the digimon balled one of her upper limbs again, another blow going directly at the tower.
Right now, she was bent on seeing the tower's destruction to its end, no matter what it took. What would happen after the second round of blows? That was at anyone's guess. Got damaged by Tyrannomon's attack. Got some health back due to reprocess. Basic attacked the tower again. All the cooldowns that were at 2 are now at 1.
Sorry for the crappy quality.

Well, it was clear that the Tyrannomon didn't like what Iko had in mind! As his enhanced blade, and the combined, fiery attack of the dragon-types sank into the base of the tower, two things became clear: that it was going to take a little more work than that, and that the controlled dinosaur simply wouldn't let them wail on the Spire. That obnoxious fireball was soon in the air, the squirrel giving a 'tch'. "Luke, get some dist-"
The squirrel was cut off, as Luke ran forward, plucking the squirrel off the ground with his right arm! With a keen eye, and the tamer standing further away from the tower than the other three, Luke was able to see about where the fireball was going to land - and thus, he leaned against the tower, putting it between themselves and the explosion. Even as the fire exploded out, the dark building itself would act as cover!
"Don't let up!"
"Freaking... fine!" Darting back off to the ground, he gave another swing of his tail, this time using Spiked Tail to flare out and harden his fur. The tower would be struck once more!

Things seemed to be going well for the group. The Armor Level Digimon Lynxmon lands a nasty attack, even damaging the dark ring. However, the flow of the battle changes as the Control Spire generates an attack targeted towards Lynxmon, preventing them from using Wild Nail Rush for a while. Tyrannomon targets the Digimon attacking the tower, unleashing a scorching Blaze Blast. The attack was only targeted towards those close to the Control Spire, so Wormmon is unaffected.
Wormmon's Dark Seed attack lands, burrowing into Tyrannomon's scales, but it is only able to pierce so far, making the already weak life drain about half as effective. It wasn't much, but it allowed Wormmon to deal damage to the Champion while also restoring the Worm King's health slightly. The big lizard was too large and tough for Wormmon's Sticky Net to trap him in place. Wormmon brainstorms another plan. With their attention turned towards the spire, Wormmon dashes towards Tyrannomon's tail. Wormmon hops up onto his tail, careful to avoid the spikes on his back.
Wormmon makes his way up Tyrannomon's back. It might actually be a safe place to be, as both melee attacks and ranged attacks would be unable to reach Wormmon. However, this did open up Wormmon to a different kind of attack. If someone else attacks the Champion, Wormmon might be hit as well. Still, it was a calculated risk. "Don't hold anything back! We're taking you down, Tyrannomon." Wormmon starts spraying strands of silk thread, attempting to trap the Tyrannomon in place. The ends of the threads attach to the ground. It probably wouldn't hinder the Champion for long, but maybe it will open them up for another attack.
The sun sets behind the mountain range. Fortunately the light of the moon was enough to illuminate the area. Wormmon struggles to hold on to the Champion's back. He gets a closer look at the dark ring. While it had been damaged, it would take much more to separate it from Tyrannomon. Wormmon tosses and turns side to side, attempting to stay on. The Worm King can feel the Dark Seed syphoning health to him, though not enough to make much of a difference. "Whoah! Easy there, big fella." Wormmon tries massaging Tyrannomon's neck, hoping to soothe it, but with the dark ring active there was not much point. Only time will tell if Wormmon's strategy of climbing onto his back will pay off. Maybe it would distract Tyrannomon from those attacking the Control Spire, allowing for a counterattack. Wormmon digs his little legs down into the scales, holding on as his silk threads already start breaking. "Argh, come on you overgrown iguana. If I could Digivolve to Stingmon, you'd already have a mouthful of my Moon Cannon by now." _____________________
Non-Combat Passives: Able to create silk threads, used for tasks such as climbing or other times where a rope would come in handy. Able to crawl up most surfaces, such as climbing up walls.
Combat Passive: Insect Agility: Wormmon can jump, dive, and dodge very quickly. This gives them an advantage against large opponents, greatly increasing their chance to dodge melee attacks from Digimon larger than an average Rookie.

The consistent attacks onto the Tyrannomon along with those attacking the tower proved to be rather fruitful. At least she presumed them to be fruitful as the digimon was focusing on those attacking the tower rather than the ones attacking it. This meant to her that attacking the tower was likely more important than attacking it.
But if they ignored this creature it would be free to set upon them; so the renamon would along with the few allies that were attacking it continue to do so unless they wanted to deal with the intense fire of the creature. She had no desire for that.
The damage that the lynxmon did to the ring was much more than she was expecting but it was a higher tier digivolution so it'd make sense. Growling in irritation she'd glance at the saberk after landing. It was doing good work, but she couldn't keep this thing going the entire fight could she? It might prove to be very draining.
So she'd make one last Saberk Attack, the point aimed straight at the dark ring. She wasn't sure if it was strong enough to pierce through, but if it was... Well she could rest easy while the others figured out what to do with the tower. If not she'd have to resort to just slashing at this damn thing.
The other's proved to be rather chatty during the fight; which more surprised her than anything. What was the point of saying something when you knew how this was going to go? Or how it was going to be? She just didn't see the point until after it. So did she spare a glance for those that were behind her? Those that were at the tower? No. She focused on the point of conflict. Which was this Tyrannomon.

By now, the sun had set over the battlefield. Daylight was fading, making the fiery attacks that flew everywhere all the more brighter. It was a fearsome and yet eerie sight, as in the darkness, the pulsing light of the dark tower was all the more evident.
Tyrannomon held fast as Lynxmon attacked him with Thermal Mane, but his dragon hide protected him from most of its effects. However, he was forced to close his eyes from its intensity, so that he did not notice Wormmon's astonishingly bold move to climb onto his back. Once he was there, Tyrannomon had no means to remove him, other than thrashing about in an attempt to buck him off. Then, the Wormmon attempted to hinder his movements by trying to pin him down to the ground, but, the large dinosaur managed to break free of the threads, but not without considerable effort.
Of course, the Dark Tower responded to Lynxmon's Thermal Mane by once again striking him with the silver laser, sealing that attack for the next minute or so.
In his moment of immobility, Tyrannomon was struck in the dark ring by the Renamon's Saberk attack. By now, large, deep cracks were beginning to appear on it, but not enough to break completely. It would take just a little more to break it.
Then, what Wormmon did next seemed to change things slightly. For a moment, while his talons massaged his neck, it disturbed the link between him and the Tower for a brief moment, so that he did not automatically respond to the digimon that were there attacking it.
"W-what..." Tyrannomon murmured, as though attempting to wake from a trance, but, the effect only lasted a second. Either way, it made it clear that the dark ring was indeed making Tyrannomon act against his will.
Most unfortunately, the tower regained control. And thus it turned Tyrannomon's attention to his biggest nearby threat - the Armor level. Tyrannomon slashed at him with his claws.
Meanwhile, at the Dark Tower, Dracomon and Guilmon yelled with shock and ducked down from the effect of the Blaze Blast. Thankfully, it was not enough to despatch them in one hit, thanks to their tough dragon hides. And also thankfully, the spirit hybrid and the squirrel digimon were still in the battle too.
"Attack it again!" Dracomon called, and repeated his Baby Breath attack, while Guilmon repeated his Rock Breaker attack. By now, the black obelisk was also developing deep cracks in its structure.
Field Effect: Control Spire - Evolutions above Rookie or Armor Champion/Human Fragment will be sealed.
- Digimon under the effect of Dark Rings have Defense increased by 50% and do not have their evolutions sealed, but lose control over their bodies.
The Control Spire begins to show cracking at its base.
Enemy Digimon: Tyrannomon
Level: Champion
- Tyrannomon is hit by Thermal Mane, (Dino Hide resists damage), is drained by Dark Seed, has movements restricted slightly by Silk Thread, so that Saberk does more accurate damage. The Dark Ring shows signs of cracking.
This effect increases the cooldown of Lynxmon's Thermal Mane to 2 turns.
Attack used: Slash Claw - Delivers a slash with the weight of his body behind it, aiming to deal melee damage.
Aimed at Lynxmon.
Tyrannomon attempts to buck Wormmon from his back.

The Tyrannomon seemed to be struggling against something, but Lynxmon didn't have time to theorize as he was immediately set upon by the beast. Standing between his enemy and the tower, he decided that offense clearly wasn't working. To make matters worse, another laser shot from the tower, likely sealing his ability to use his signature attack. With a scoff, he decided to go on the defensive and give the others a chance to finish off the tower. "Firewall!" Suddenly, a huge wall of fire sprouted in between Lynxmon and Tyrannomon. With any luck, it would stop or at least slow his progress down.
"Keep attacking!" Marshal shouted, picking up on his partner's strategy quickly. "Don't let up!"

Huh. Well, not much to be done about it. Even if just the initial attack had been directed at them, the Tyrannomon seemed to be more concerned about the Lynxmon now.
It was also interesting that he had a moment of lucidity after the efforts of the rookies, but if her previous actions had been any indication of it, the real deal was the tower in front of them. That meant she had to press on, didn't she? At this point, the wounds that had initially weighed her down had been somewhat healed, pink tissue beginning to regrow where only charred remains had been moments before, even if at the cost of the land beneath Stridermon to look… dead, more or less.
But that wasn't important at the moment. Focusing one last time at the spire, her right limb enveloped the structure before releasing a torrent of flames at point blank range from it. She wasn't sure if fire would be any good on something that seemed to be so solidly built, but this was probably better than just bashing it. Healed a bit due to Reprocess. Used Blaze Blast on the tower, copied with Surreal Memoir. No active cooldowns at the moment.

Alright, actual signs of damage! Between the high-temperature flames and the blunt force applied to the tower, the Spire was already showing deep cracks - and better yet, Wormmon, Lynxmon, and Renamon had managed to keep the Tyrannomon off of their back, so they didn't have to dodge another fireball.
With Iko's Spiked Tail landing home, he moved back for a moment, letting Guilmon, Dracomon - and suddenly, Stridermon - get their damage in. On the backstep, the squirrel's tail once more gave a green glow, a fresh Crescent Blade flicking open from the line.
"Alright, let's wrap this up!" With Luke's encouragement, Iko gave a dash forward, and slashed that blade once more against the tower, before bouncing back again. Would it be enough?

Things seemed to be turning in their favor. Surely the dark spire would succumb to the damage being inflicted. Wormmon holds on tight to the back of Tyrannomon. The Worm King's silk threads snapped one by one, but they served their purpose by opening the Champion up to a Saberk from K. Either the dark ring or the tower would be broken soon enough. Strangely enough, when Wormmon massaged Tyrannomon's neck, for a brief moment the dark ring's control over the Digimon was broken. Now it was clear that this Digimon was not some savage beast, but likely acting not of their own choice with the dark ring in effect.
Wormmon tightens his grasp, attempting not to be thrown off as Tyrannomon shakes around. He makes his way up to the dark ring to more closely examine it. Before he has the chance to attempt to finish off the dark ring, Wormmon loses his grip, and is thrown off of Tyrannomon. "Oh no, ahhh!!" Wormmon falls to the ground, landing on his butt. "Oww! Darn, so close." Wormmon looks over and sees that the tower will not hold up for much longer. He felt bad that they had to attack an otherwise innocent Digimon, that somehow got roped into someone else's evil scheme. "Ya, that's it. Bust down that tower once and for all!" Wormmon walks backwards a few steps, fearful of Tyrannomon trying to squish him like a bug while the dark ring is still active. "I know this isn't the real you, Tyrannomon. Just hold on and we'll have you back to normal, big fella."

K's eyes widened momentarily from the Tyrannomon's sudden murmur. So they were right in attacking both the tower and the ring at the same time? It was a surprise that this was going so smoothly; but she wasn't about to hold her breath. The lynxmon used some kind of firewall to keep the Tyrannomon at bay, though she really doubted that was going to work too well. Didn't most dragons have some kind of innate resistance to the stuff?
She'd push the thought aside and brandish one of her hands. She'd dash forward, her target once again that ring around the Tyrannomon's neck. She'd have to jump upwards to get at it again, she wasn't about to try to climb on this thing. She wasn't foolish enough to do so after all.
"K-slash!"
She'd bring her claws to bear against that ring, if the Tyrannomon allowed her she'd use them as a platform to disengage from the beast. She didn't want to test if the creature had some kind of high powered close ranged attack that it hadn't bothered to use yet...

Tyrannomon at least seemed to hesitate when confronted with Lynxmon's firewall. While he was ordinarily resistant to fire, well, even a dinosaur would hesitate at crossing a wall of light and heat. At the very least, he seemed to have shaken Wormmon off. But, it seemed in his hesitation, he had failed to notice the Renamon, who aimed a slash at his ring. It brought him into a small panic as he felt that something attacking his neck was a major emergency.
Meanwhile, the Dark Tower seemed to be finally suffering the strain of all those digimon attacking it. Three rookies and one Armor level consistently attacking seemed to have been enough to chip through its base. Dracomon and Guilmon once again joined in the attack, and made one last strike along with Amelie and Iko.
The dark tower finally had suffered too much damage. The cracks extended deep into its structure until it could no longer support itself. The tower then began to crumble at its base before finally falling down, slamming into the ground, raising up clouds of dust as it did so.
"Yay! We did it!" Dracomon and Guilmon cheered. But that was only one part of their dilemma. What about Tyrannomon? The two rookie dragons looked anxiously at the battle in their vicinity.
Its immediate effect was that Tyrannomon froze, the Dark Ring finally breaking loose from his neck, presumably being pulled off by K. At once, his eyes changed from glowing red to bright blue, and he ceased hostility at once. He looked around to see a Lynxmon, Wormmon and Renamon in varying stages of alertness, all looking at him.
"W-what's going on?" he asked, somewhat anxious. "Who are you all?" he then noticed the crumbled remains of the dark tower. "What... happened?"
Tyrannomon did not attack anyone, making it clear he was no longer hostile. Still confused, it seemed that Tyrannomon had no conscious memory of the fact that he had been defending this tower.
The Control Spire has been destroyed, meaning all digimon may evolve as normal again.
Tyrannomon is no longer hostile, and launches no attacks.

The strategy had paid off! Lynxmon's defensive tactic managed to hold Tyrannomon off long enough for the others to destroy the tower. Once it was complete, Tyrannomon seemed to stop. Lynxmon, noticing this, sighed with relief and reverted back into his Coronamon form.
Marshal, also picking up that the conflict was subsiding, walked over to Tyrannomon and tried to check up on him. If things went sour, it seemed that the block on their evolution had been lifted. "Hey, are you okay?" Marshal asked the giant, red dinosaur. "What was up with that ring around your neck?"

That was it; the spire promptly crumbled onto itself, finally falling down the continued assault it had sustained. In any other situation, Amelie would feel a bit of relief. Now, however, she couldn't but feel uneasy; the events that had transpired were anything but alien to her, and in all honesty, she didn't know what to make out of them. Heck, her consciousness didn't know what to make out of them.
This was just confusing, better if she just... undid the evolution. She didn't know why she hadn't done it already, but that would be for the best. Reverting back to her human form, she walked by towards where the Tyrannomon and the rest of the beings were congregated and decided to watch their exchanges in silence. The brunette wasn't sure if she wanted to ask any questions, but if none came to mind, that was fine too.
Truth was that even if she had participated in this strange battle, there was this hollow feeling nagging at her insides; the sooner she got anything resembling a reasonable explanation about what happened, the quicker she would be on her way.
