Great, of all my luck.
The Icemon's frustrated groan was entirely an internal one, the icy-rock Digimon only looking out towards very narrow, closed eyes. If he could sweat, his brow would already be drenched, as his hand clutched around the pale yellow stone in his right hand. All he could do right now is hold his breath, be patient, and hope for the best.
After all, he didn't have much choice in the matter:
Blasted off from the cliff, the Icemon had managed to come to, thanks to the gentle rumbling of the ground underneath. The rumbling in the valley turned to groan, and that groan had turned to the sound of mechanical gears grinding. In this blizzard, it didn't take long for the Machinedramon to appear in the clearing, slowly lumbering his way through the path. His eyes carefully scanned the area, inch by inch, taking the time to carefully lift up and check under each boulder of the region. His goal was clear: find one of the scattered Digimon and steal their enchanted stone.
Perhaps this was why the machine hadn't let loose with his cannons, at least not yet. But at this rate, it was only a matter of time before he found what he was looking for.
It wasn't as if the machine cared too much about the elements, after all. In a blizzard like this? He was operating at full capacity.

"Oyabun I'm picking up on two nearby digital signatures." The little green Monitamon chirped the monitor that made up the Digimon's head lighting up to show two nearby pings about a mile or so out from the little groups location as they trudged through the snow. The blizzard had caught Dr. Cross and her partners by surprise on their way back to Snowflake village, but the thick snowfall leading to low visibility was hardly an issue for the woman's self-declared bodyguard. "Are they heading our way Zaku?" Cassandra asked leaning close peer at the Digimon's screen as Cloak and Dagger in their Dark Knightmon and Duramon forms respectively peered over her shoulder to inspect the little map as well. The Doctor having gradually begun to give up on shaking the unfortunate title of 'Oyabun' after Dagger had casually let it slip to the Monitamon siblings. Zaku and Char having snapped it up like a two year old would a piece of candy in their glee. "Negative Oyabun! They appear to be centered in a nearby valley to our left." Zaku chirped more then happy to be of service as the little Digimon practically bounced in place making it rather hard to read his screen until Cas with a sigh simply scooped him up. Deciding she would make better time just carrying the little mon and be able to keep an eye on his radar in the process. "They could be travelers like ourselves lost out in the snow." Dagger suggested glancing to his twin who stared at the patterns of movement displayed on the screen with narrowed eyes. One ping was entirely stationary, but the other moved seeming to be sweeping back and forth almost as if searching for something. "It is worth observation." The Dark Knightmon finally rumbled out as Cas nodded turning to veer to the left in the direction Zaku had indicated. "Very well lets keep a low profile and check it out." Cassandra confirmed the group making their way through the snow. They would eventually come upon the top of the looming cliffs, the sound of gears echoing up from the valley below even at this elevation. The familiar noise causing Dagger to stiffin in a mix of fear and anger as he reminded himself quietly he was no longer the tiny rookie he had been before. He was no longer helpless. "Machinedramon..." Dagger growled out soft and low earning a glance from Cas as she motioned for the group to get low. The little team would inch towards the edge of the cliff on their bellies to peer over the edge below. "Zaku where's the location of the second ping?" Cassandra asked in a whisper keeping half an eye on the looming machine Digimon as she leveled her scanner at it. "Down below among those rocks." Zaku whispered out the Icemon's location quietly to his Boss. "Perhaps the Machinedramon is merely passing through." Cloak quietly suggested, but from the skepticism that dripped like ink from his voice it was clear the Dark Knightmon highly doubted such was the case.
Zaku The Monitamon uses: -RADAR: Monitamon scans their surroundings with radar pulses allowing them to detect objects, people, and Digimon as far afield as five miles. The Monitamon may take one post to switch gears allowing it to detect even concealed objects within fifty yards, but to go back to normal Radar it must take another post to change back. However, it gives no other information about their targets beyond their location making it impossible to determine if a ping is a hostile opponent or just someone passing through.

'Merely passing through' - right, like someone that was just walking through would take the time to lift up every errant piece of ice and stone in the valley. Still, the Machinedramon's focus was largely at ground level, giving the three a rare opportunity to slip in and get a good scan of the area.
The Machinedramon's own sensors were on full blaze as well: his eyesight was not impeded by the weather in the slightest, and judging by his smooth movement, it wasn't slowing him down much either. Slowly, those two dots would start to grow closer together on Zaku's device, and peeling back the boulder, the visage of that small Icemon would finally appear. He blinked, trying to peel himself away from the machine.
With a click, the Machinedramon's left claw opened, a pointed missile mere feet from the icy digimon. "Don't make this complicated - hand it over."
"Tch!" Backing up an inch from the ruthless Digimon, he clutched that rock in his left hand - and, from the corner of his eye, he spotted the glint of a metallic Digimon above. Rather than take his chances, he gave the rock a fling like a frisbee, careening towards the DarkKnightmon. "Take that and run!"
Well, talk about passing the buck! The Machinedramon's gaze looked on as that rock whizzed by, the mechanical monster giving a growl - before tearing off in that new direction!

It seemed Cloak's skepticism was warranted as the Icemon was revealed. The Machinedramon looming over the tiny champion digimon with a terrifying familiarity as it made it's demands clear. Only for the little group to suddenly find the issue theirs as the Dark Knightmon reached out snagging the smooth yellow stone from the air with one hand on reflex even as he paused blinking as realization of his actions and the issues therein set it.
"Oh fuck." Dagger cussed voicing everyone's sentiments on the matter as he stiffened in surprise as the Machinedramon whirled on them. Tossing the stone to Cassandra Cloak stood drawing the massive axe from his back in one smooth motion.
"Run Hime." He ordered gruff and sharp as Dagger stood beside him brandishing his own gleaming blades. The woman thankfully didn't need to be told twice as she gripped the stone in one fist and bent to snatch Zaku from where he remained prone and shaking in terror as she took off like a shot. Leaving the twins to close rank behind her cutting off the Machinedraon's path to their Tamer. The pair ready to attack at a moments notice should the digimon turn hostile.
"So...." Dagger drawled out his tone low and threatening, "There a reason you're shaking down Digimon half your size for shiny stones or you just feel like getting your rocks off?" The Duramon questioned with a casual tilt of his head and a sharp fang filled smile. Besides him the Dark Knightmon shifted letting the dim light play off the edge of his massive axe in a subtle threat. Both twins coiled as tight as springs ready pounce at a moments notice as Dagger looked to buy his Tamer a bit more time.

In retrospect, maybe it would have been a good idea to hold that stone nearer the front of the fight. The Machinedramon's tone had suggested he was interested in taking it - and he even leveled a threat in front of the Icemon, rather than blasting him outright. Had Cloak kept the relic in hand, perhaps he could have held it on as a bit of insurance.
As it was, though? The Machinedramon didn't take a single moment to acknowledge Dagger's sentence - much less their existence as a whole! Already tearing through at full speed, seeing that bright stone passed over to the human, the mechanical monster doubled his efforts: he held his left claw forward, in front of his chest, and simply tried to run past the twins. Worse yet, he raised that free claw, the missile still primed in the palm, and let forth the projectile: this was aimed not at Cassandra, but at the very path she was running for. His intent was simple: destroy the pass, leave that hapless tamer cornered, and snap up that stone!
Of course, if Cassandra couldn't stop fast enough on that icy cliff, that could spell further trouble...

The Doctor bolted shoving the yellow stone into her cargo pants pocket even as she ran hard and fast with the little Monitamon thrown over her shoulder. It wouldn't though be fast enough as the Machinedramon reached out it's hand a missile launching forth from it's palm. "Oyabun Incoming!" Zaku yelled out at Cas dug her heels in trying to slow her momentum as the cliff face in front of her exploded leaving the Doctor skidding towards the edge. Only to find herself blinking up in surprise at Dagger as she landed hard on her side in the snow. The Dark Knightmon taking her place as he dug his massive axe into the snowy earth to slow his back slide before he was toppled over the edge coming to a stop just short of the jagged drop. "I see diplomacy is wasted upon you." Cloak rumbled out as he straightened ripping his axe from the earth while his twin stepped neatly in front of the little woman with a low growl. The soft vicious sound the only warning the Machinedramon would be given as Dagger's chest glowed firing a beam at the enemy Digimon's vulnerable side intending to catch him off guard. "I think we're past talking." Cas spoke as she leveled herself up off the ground and grabbed for her cards fingers closing around the first one she could find as she slid the Raremon card through her D-arc. With the bait and switch complete Cloak glowed with the power of the card as the Dark Knightmon flung caustic acid at the Machinedramon's face hoping to take out it's eyes and delicate sensors.

Oh - wasn't that curious? The machine's missile had clearly struck home, but the target that fell from the stony cliff wasn't the tamer - no, it was one of the two Digimon that tried to stand in its way! As Cloak started to tumble downward, the machine pulled its 'brakes' as best it could, slamming its melee-oriented left claw into the ground, while pivoting around on the spot. He dragged a few feet in the stone and ice to turn and see...
... Aha! The human was right there, at the Dark Knightmon's prior position! The machine let out its own growl, eyes briefly locked with that target - only to feel a searing burn on its side. His head turned on a pivot, eyes locked with the other metallic Digimon, tearing straight in Dagger's direction. The Raremon's slime sizzled lightly on his back, as the still-sturdy machine locked eyes with the Duramon. Inside that armored head, a heavy whirr quickly picked up.
When the beast opened its fangs, the source was confirmed: a heavy Gatling gun had spun up, a myriad of powerful bullets primed and ready to try and tear through the ultimate. Soon, the deafening sound of its gunfire filled the valley!
Log:
The Machinedramon, losing its target, pivots to face Cassandra. Dagger's attack draws the monster's attention.
Machinedramon moves to approach Dagger, and uses 'Gatling Barrage' on Dagger! The energy strike damages its side, and the acidic attack hits its back legs - but for the moment, the damage only seems to anger him.

Dagger stepped cleanly between his Tamer and the oncoming Machinedramon with a low snarl. "Are you just going to stand there or are you going to fucking HELP!" The Duramon roared out at the Icemon below even as he slashed his blades down launching a barrier of light forward to intercept the machine Digimon's Gatling fire.
Meanwhile Cloak dug his axe into the broken earth hauling himself once more back up from where he'd been left hanging over the edge. Spying her second partner returning to the field of battle properly Cas wracked her brain for anything that might give them an edge. When it struck her. Almost literally as bullets pinged off Dagger's barrier. Thumbing through her deck once more Cas pulled out the Antivirus card sliding it through the D-arc to give Cloak's attacks an extra bite. Getting to his feet with a growl the Dark Knightmon turned furious gold eyes onto the Machinedramon. Leveling it's spear at the back of his opponents head dark energy turned light with the antivirus card coalesced at it's tip before firing out a beam of blinding energy aimed to pierce right through the Machinedramon's skull from behind.
"Assistance would be optimal lest we remember your lack of aid later." Cloak rumbled out to the Icemon the threat clear in the Dark Knightmon's voice.

In all honesty, it wasn't the Icemon's intent to have any of them locked in this battle. Ideally, in fact, the Machinedramon would have just tore into him, while the other four took that rock to safety and hid - but it seemed the Machinedramon was far calmer than one would first think. Regardless, Dagger's words quickly snapped the Icemon out of his stupor, gritting his stony teeth as he tore himself out of cover.
"Tch... I'll do what I can!" Forcing his hands against the ground, the evolved Gotsumon started something. But for the moment, the Duramon was left with his barrier, that shield holding against that barrage of bullets for a grand total of one second. Following that, though, the barrage started to tear through, holes leaving that illustrious barrier like a thin sheet of swiss cheese, slower bullets careening forth to ricochet off of Dagger's metallic frame.
Thankfully, the twin wasn't alone: Cloak's frame and spear had gained a white aura, that 'Night Lance' tearing straight toward the Machinedramon. The left claw was already primed to deflect it away from the side - but a sudden rock collapsing on its head halted that, exploding out into an icy cloud, one that chilled the robot underneath!
The Icemon, several yards away, caught his breath, as that spear landed right into his side. Unlike Dagger's earlier attack, this was enough to make the machine stagger to the left: catching himself, this armored titan leveled his gaze on Cloak.
So long as he had that light, he was, by far, the most dangerous opponent. The cannons on his back clicked into place, starting to build up a fierce, crimson energy... one that would propel itself towards Cloak a moment later!
"Giga Cannon."

Dagger was forced to hunker down as his barrier shredded forcing the Duramon to have to use his own body as his Tamer's remaining shield as he hissed out in pain as the bullets pinged off his armor, but kept the human and Monitamon behind him thankfully intact. Then finally the Icemon steps in. While his help is minor neither the twins nor Cas were about to look a gift mon in the mouth.
At the sight of Cloak's attack cutting into the Machinedramon's side Cas feels a thrill of triumph only for it to die in her chest as she hears Dagger's breath hitch in horror as they saw a crimson glow began to build up in their opponents cannon. It didn't take a genius to tell what was about to happen, but if Machinedramon thought Cloak would be standing still waiting to be hit he had another thing coming as the Dark Knightmon strafed to the right moving to circle the metal digimon. His speed increasing to a mere dark blur as Cas slid the Lightning Implant card through her D-arc causing Cloak to leave the blast and his enemy in his dust.
"Dagger!" The Dark Knightmon called out sheathing his axe as he held his hand out to his twin. Dagger need not second guess what it was his sibling was asking as he grinned sharp and vicious as he leaped for his sibling his form shifting in mid air to that of a gleaming golden sword. Grasping the hilt of the burnished glowing weapon in one hand Cloak turned on his enemy with a snarl and a snap of his cape as he lashed out with the sword flinging a massive blade of white crackling energy at the enemy. A blade that seemed to flicker and disappear as it flew at the Machinedramon only to reappear in less then a blink of an eye hurtling down on him from the heavens aiming to bisect not only the metal Digimon's cannon, but the Digimon himself.

Of course, it wasn't impossible (or even difficult) to dodge the blast of 'Giga Cannon': the machine's main mode of arsenal had an obvious charge-up time, as well as two obvious long-barrelled cannons telegraphing its direction. As the energy roared outward, Cloak's flank would put him right out of range, leaving that empowered blast to carry on... and land right against the face of the cliff.
BOOM.
Scratch that - through the face of the cliff. Trash data erupted from the point of impact, as the blast continued to bury further and further into the rock, etching a new path a good hundred yards into the mountain itself. Once the blast dissipated, rock and snow quickly came tumbling down, a roar picking up from above as a drift of snow raced for the base. Was this machine mad, or had it just overclocked its attack? Nevertheless, its attention turned once more towards Cloak and Dagger - or, well, it would if it could. With how fast it was made off of Lightning Implant, there was little the machine could do but maintain.
Unable to locate its target, a wire-frame rapidly surrounded the Machinedramon, the beast assuming a defensive stance. The 'Dimension Slice' swung from above would leave a small 'scar' atop the cannon, but definitely much less than Cloak might have preferred.
"Dammit, dammit, dammit!" The Icemon, meanwhile, had its attention drawn to the makeshift avalanche - rushing over to Cassandra's position, the rocky monster stamped a foot against the ground, raising up a reinforced wall of ice! "I can dig myself out later, just beat it!"
Log:

"We'll come back for you." Cas promised even as the avalanche roared closer leaving her to turn on her heel and run shifting the Monitamon from her arm to her back as she drew her grapple gun from her belt. Aiming for higher up on the cliff the Doctor pulled the trigger and prayed. The hook catching onto a ledge as she slammed her thumb onto the recoil button, planted her feet against the stone, and ran up the cliff. The grappling line taking her weight as she heard the sound of snow crashing beneath her till her momentum ran out. Leaving the woman swinging back and forth from the line in the cold winter air. "Zaku I need you to scan the area. See if you can't find a lake or something." Cassandra ordered clipping the grapple line to her belt as she half turned to survey the fight. Up here they were sitting ducks for the moment with their only options being to go up or down. Though hopefully the Machinedramon was too busy with Cloak to really look for them or thought the pair buried beneath the snow. "Fuck that thing just doesn't know how to bloody die." The woman hissed out catching sight of their opponent right as Cloak's attack pinged off it's gun leaving the Dark Knightmon to continue his circle hoping to come up behind his enemy. A sentiment that was undoubtedly shared with her partner as the Digimon in question swore out in anger. "I've located a river Oyabun fifty yard away down the cliff, but depth is negligible." Zaku chirped out as it's scanners pinged over the area. "I suppose it is time to exchange the needle for the broadsword." Cas growled out drawing the Meteo Orbit card from her deck. The Antivirus card wouldn't last much longer and the Tamer was reluctant to pass up the chance to do as much damage to their enemy as they could in that moment. Sliding the card through her D-arc three meteors came to circle the Dark Knightmon glowing with the radiance of a vaccine as Cloak snarled. "Die!" The Ultimate hissed out flinging all three of the meteors forward at the Machinedramon for a single deadly massive impact.

With the extra time bought by the Icemon, and with Cassandra's clever use of the grappling hook, the snow would simply come crashing down underneath, the Icemon quickly buried underneath that heavy flow of ice. Even feeling the weight start to settle on top of him, he couldn't help but give a dark chuckle. Just a few minutes ago, he was just trying to pass the buck - and now he was sticking his neck out this far?
Well, my job's not done yet...
As for the Machinedramon? Well, the 'Defense Matrix' served an additional purpose, other than blocking a single attack. Before, the mechanized monster simply lost track of Cloak's movement, due to the enhanced rate of speed. Able to feel the attack, his eyes once more locked on Cloak's position, his sensors clicking as he started to adapt to this enhanced movement.
Thus, when those meteors were both spawned and launched, the Machinedramon was looking right towards the pair of Cloak and Dagger. He obviously lacked the agility to spur himself away - and his defensive skill was down - but that didn't make the mega helpless! Defiant to Cloak's demand, the Machinedramon tensed its legs and swung up with his left claw, a blazing blue aura surrounding the arm. Two of the glorified boulders were struck by the nails and incinerated into rubble, while the third struck the back of his claw. The force of the meteor was enough to blow the arm back, a singed red spot left directly on the metal.
At this point, though, the Machinedramon's focus changed entirely: he couldn't match this Ultimate's speed.
So he had to force its location: his eyes locked over on the blonde human's new position, and the monster tore once more for the cliff. His sprint may had been in Cassandra's direction, but his sensors would do their best to not lose track of the knightly combo...

"Oh no you don't." The Dark Knightmo snarled as he leveled the gleaming sword that was his twin at the Machinedramon. Rushing after the giant mechanical monster even as he turned to target his Tamer. The meteors did not have the effect he had hoped, but one did not look a gift mon in the mouth.
"You're opponent is me." Cloak snarled out dark energy building up at the tip of the sword as he leveled it at Machinedramon's injured hand letting out a powerful blast of dark energy. Seeking to rend through the weakened metal and cripple his opponent by removing one of it's limbs from combat.
"Time to go." Cas snapped out half turning to see the metal digimon charging for her. She needed to get to the top of the cliffs and get gone. Pulling herself up to the end of the rope she slammed her palm down on the anti-grav device hooked to her belt even as she released the grappling hook. Causing her to begin to float and fall in slow motion as she leveled her grappling gun at the top of the cliff and fired once more. The hooks digging into the ledge and halting her fall as the Doctor used her now lighter weight to haul herself and Zaku up the rocky cliff face hand over fist. Like hell was she going to stick around and risk the Machinedramon grabbing hold of her. While she doubted he'd fire on her directly and risk damaging the stone she had no such reserves about him simply taking it from her along with a limb or two if he closed in.

Heh. I can always get to her later... for now!
It wasn't really a 'trap', but the Dark Knightmon played right into the Machinedramon's hands. After all, this was nothing more than a straightforward beam attack, forced out by the mega's own movement. The noise of the knight's word earned a 'click' from the mechanical monster, head quickly turning to face the pair's direction. Rather than a slow attack like Giga Cannon, his metal jaws simply parted open once more:
Gatling Barrage!
The mental declaration given and the whir of the gun heavy inside, those same metal slugs as before echoed out in rapid succession, in line with that beam of energy! Some tore through and reduced the Night Lance's power, while the wider spread left some of the bullets on track to careen into the Dark Knightmon's armor. That same lance would be met with the glowing back of his 'melee' hand, shattering the outer armor to reveal the metal framework underneath.
He'd been damaged, yes - but for a slow Digimon like Machinedramon, this was par for the course. He aimed to win on a war of attrition!
