Thoughts. The cornerstone of what makes someone someone. See, the average person probably has about a million thoughts racing through their noggin on a daily basis, but for Toriya Naoko…
There was just one simple thought. And it was...how did she end up so -sick?- Well...It was actually all sort of a blur. Last she recalled was searching for something...somewhere with Titania in tow. It was pretty cold and actually really dark, too...And now it was actually bright. Super bright. The girl groaned and squinted, trying to sit up, only to find that it was...arduous to do so.
“Good grief…” She murmured, as she took a look at her surroundings. She was pretty sure this was the Library...The Great Moving Library, to be specific.
Naoko hadn’t told anyone that she thought that was the best name to give something, no, but she found she was actually...alone. In a bed. In a room on the moving mausoleum of knowledge. Well, mausoleum may not be accurate as a term but...yeah. Naoko was surrounded by...not a lot. Some food and some books and a note.
“I went to go get some stuff you’d like, I’m sorry I had to fly you all the way out here but honestly being sick’s really awful and best spent surrounded by friends so I also decided to go find your friends too and your sister and I don’t know if I’m doing any of this right but please sit tight and don’t be scared, okay?
Titania”
Had this girl ever written a letter before…? Either way, Naoko had thought she’d be back after a bit but...It was quiet and lonely here. Kind of really makes you realize that despite all the people you knew…
Did you really think of any of them as friends…?
Midway into that, the door was flung open, Naoko covering her ears a little as Titania walked into the room in Kazemon form with a bag in hand. “Oh, hey, you finally woke up! Uh...Doc Mikemon said it’d take a bit for that to happen so glad that’s out of the way…” The fairy rubbed the back of her neck. “...How’re you feeling?” “Awful. I can barely sit up or move and it’s hard to talk and I feel way too ho-” “...Yep, still sick.” Naoko’s voice, compared to Titania’s was barely above a whisper.
The girl clenched a fist before releasing it and reaching up to tug up a hoodie that...wasn’t there. It then hit her that she was wearing pajamas. Or rather, had been dressed in pajamas. “...What’s in the bag?” “Sweets and stuff. Mostly medicine and food. Uhhh...I also asked Yuki, Mizu, Haru and Tawna if they could come by later. Mikemon might also check on you too, so...There’s also that. Uh. I think I might have gone overboard with asking how to take care of a sick human.”
Did Titania actually do that or was she lying? Naoko was assuming otherwise. Believe it or not, she doesn’t get sick a lot but it hits her hard when she does. And it also leads to…
A roll of the eyes. “Sure you did.” Naoko let herself fall back and shut her eyes. “Seriously, I doubt they’d all just...drop everything for me. I mean...maybe sis but…”
“...Why wouldn’t they? I mean...they care about you, right…?” Titania actually started to look even more concerned, something that actually made Naoko look...worried? She wasn’t used to this at all. “...It’s nothing. Just...Uh. I don’t know. Go do thi-”
“No.” Huh? Titania seemed unwavering with that single response.
“No?”
“I’m not going to leave someone I’m supposed to take care of just because they told me to even when they’re sick and hurting in more ways than one.” The Kazemon continued. Truth be told? She just wanted Naoko to get better and stop...well, putting herself down. Wasn’t that the one thing you’re never supposed to do while sick?
“Bu-” “No buts. Want me to go grab a movie or something so you’re not bored? Food? Anything?” Titania seemed to look hopeful that Naoko’d ask for something but it quickly turned to disappointment when the girl just rolled over and quietly murmured, “No, I’m alright…”
Titania quietly makes her exit while Naoko just...drifts into a sleep that doesn’t really last all too long. In time the girl woke up to a pillow wet with tears, a fever still beating at her head and a lot of sweat.
And holy crap, was that unpleasant. This time, though, she wasn’t alone. Titania was still there and playing on her 3DS. “...Hey…” Naoko lazily raised a hand and gave a wave. “Hi. Killing a monster with the darling.” “...Oh, right...you play that with Mizu...When were they going to come again?”
“Soon. Just...sit tight and eat, okay?” And sure enough? To Naoko’s right was a plate of mochi and other stuff she liked. But mostly the former. Titania made it. Though, when Titania had said soon?
She had meant a little sooner than one might had expected, because as Naoko was reaching out towards one of the Mochi? The door opened to reveal...Someone with goggles that Naoko could probably recognize anywhere.
Iiiiit was her sister. It was Haru!
“And you thought nobody would actually show up, eh? Eeeeh?” Titania snickered, not looking up from her game.
To summarize? Naoko was actually a little dumbfounded by the fact her sister (and Tawna, who was way too damn big to fit in the door and was quite insistent on remaining in her Meicrackmon form) showed up and actually brought noodles too.
Noodles that were promptly devoured with or without consent, too.
No, really, she shoved the noodles in poor Naoko’s mouth. So, that was quite an experience. And in time the rest of the field club showed up to spend some time with the sick girl! Or play video games with Titania.
Also Naoko got told to actually dress for places she happened to be going to. Seriously, this would’ve been avoided if she had.
