"It is a bit cramped in here..." Adrian says, agreeing with Tadayoshi as they walked through the tunnel. After the others squeezed through, they each had a look at Commandramon's map as he described the situation. According to him, these bad Digimon are currently located in a tent not too far from here, with low forces.
Then Tadayoshi shared his pathetic attempt at strategy. Well, he tried, at least... Adrian thought as he sweatdropped. After that, the Renamon that was present asked the Tamers what they had to think, immediately saying that SOME of them seemed capable, which Shoutmon took offense to.
"Hey, I'm capable," Shoutmon argued, crossing his arms and pouting. "I can Digivolve to Ultimate level, you know!"
Before more could be said, White Wolf spoke up. "I think I have an idea... you say that Devidramon is in his tent, which has guards on the outside, right? Well... what if we distract those guards instead of Devidramon himself? That way, he'll be vulnerable and your best fighters can get the advantage on him while he's alone."

Isn't that what I just said? Were Tadayoshi more accustomed, he might have called out that girl for taking credit for his plan, intentionally or not... even if she was who he thought she was. Unfortunately, it seemed like nobody else noticed what happened, or at least didn't acknowledge it. He also clearly didn't have any idea of the significance of digivolving to the ultimate level.
Everyone else, however, did. Commandramon raised a curious eyebrow and, for once, grinned at Shoutmon. "Is that so? If you're the one who faces Devidramon, I doubt he'd have a chance against you. Sadly, none of us have ever digivolved on our own." Now these were terms that went straight over Tadayoshi's head, but he had once again returned to the 'shut up and figure out what's going on on the way' approach. "I would have my forces be the diversion. We're not stupid; we know Devidramon would crush most of us if we faced him ourselves, but we can handle his underlings fairly. That leaves we seven to face Devidramon." At the sound of the number seven, Tadayoshi had to do some quick math in his head. Commandramon made one, plus Rebecca and co to make four, and adding Adrian and Shoutmon made six. That meant the seventh had to be...
"...oh, boy."
"Any questions?"
Tadayoshi personally had loads of them still, but he had no idea where to begin. How about, "When can I go home?" or maybe, "How did I even get here?" What about, "What can I even do at this point?" while I'm at it? But then the young man caught himself. And why am I even asking that now when I didn't ask it by the river? Simple. The 16-year-old stiffened himself then and took on a stern expression. None of it is more important than the problem in front of me.

Shoutmon grinned back at the Commandramon. "Don't worry, we'll help you guys through this. I really hate Digimon like that." Maybe Shoutmon and Commandramon were destined to be friends?
Gabumon lightly tugged on Tadayoshi's leg. "To clarify, Digivolving is when a Digimon reaches a new stage, becomes bigger and more powerful. Once this is over, we can talk more about the finer details."
"Bookworm."
"Airhead."
White Wolf groaned... was it going to be one of those days where Agumon and Gabumon would have stupid arguments all day?
After the plan was discussed, White Wolf spoke up. "The twins can't Digivolve yet, and they'd be crushed against Devidramon. I think we'd be better accustomed to the distraction side. Hell, I can even help you fight the guards!"
"It's true! White Wolf can kick major bad-guy butt! She's like a... um... uhhh..."
"A martial artist?"
"Yeah! That!"

"Hmm..." Commandramon scratched his chin and frowned while looking down at the map. "I don't like the idea of losing precious manpower, but I suppose you know your own limits better than I could at this time. I suppose we'll have to make due." While Commandramon addressed Rebecca and company, Tadayoshi silently nodded in thanks and acknowledgement at Gabumon for at least trying not to leave the boy out to dry. "Besides... we have Tadayoshi." The unexpected mention of his name made the boy jump.
"Uh... how do you know my name?"
"It was on the screen of your Loader. Remember?" Clearly, the boy had not. "Any further objections?" Noticeably, Commandramon gave his own little band truly ample time to consider and voice opinions; clearly he was expecting a response and perhaps even hoping for one. None came however. "No more dawdling, then. These are your orders." Commandramon held the map up before the wall, then, and used a rock of some sort that left a red trail to circle something on it. "Under the command of White Wolf, all of you are to strike here: the stores of food stolen from families and businesses. If you feel the need to have a snack to refresh your energy... feel free." Commandramon then beckoned Adrian and Shoutmon to his side along with Tadayoshi. "Do your best to liberate the stores, but this is only a secondary objective. Your primary objective is defeating the guards there and holding off the reinforcements Devidramon sends. While you do, Adrian, Shoutmon, Tadayoshi, and I will face Devidramon. Make any necessary preparations and leave as soon as possible." Commadramon folded up the map, then, and dropped it on the floor like it was trash. That freed his two hands to cock his rifle and use "Precision Shot!" to replace its natural iron sights with a small night-vision scope.
Commandramon applied the aesthetic effect of Precision Shot.
Precision Shot: The current sight or scope of this digimon's rifle disappears to be replaced by one more appropriate for the current range that automatically corrects aim for wind, distance, and target motion, and it even provides weak-point analysis. This digimon aims the scope or sight, then fires one highly precise energy bullet to deal damage. This attack's accuracy is boosted by 30%, and its damage is boosted by 25%. Additionally, the sights and scopes may be swapped out at any time with this ability even between cooldowns (this is purely aesthetic when not using Precision Shot as a damaging attack in combat). Cooldown: 2 post.

"I'm sorry, Commandramon," White Wolf apologized, shaking her hands a bit. "Besides, I think you two can handle Devidramon easily, just like how we can distract the troops easily."
The others laughed when Tadayoshi hadn't remembered that his Digivice would state his name, before listening to the orders that Commandramon would then give, which involved White Wolf being the commander of the distraction team- wait, what?!
Ohgodohgodohgod, I can't be a commander! This whole confidence thing is just an ACT! What if I screw it up?! Oh nooo, what did I get myself into this time?! White Wolf had gone completely white by this point.
"Er... White Wolf? Are you okay?"
"W-Whuh? Oh, yeah, totally! I'll do my best, Commandramon." She would then look at her so called troops. "Listen, this is VERY important. We're only going to get the food if we're all too hungry to fight without it. If it's not needed, we go straight for the guards. We won't have much time to lose. What do you say?"
Adrian and Shoutmon looked at each other with worry, as they both knew how Rebecca truly was. She must be freaking out internally...
Okay, Devidramon should be a piece of cake if Shoutmon went ultimate immediately! But, he probably better go Champion for now to save energy...
"Alright, I'll digivolve Shoutmon once we're ready to go. Other than that, we're good to go, Commandramon!"

"Leave as soon as possible," Commandramon replied to White Wolf in return, "There's no reason to wait. As for Tadayoshi, Adrian, and Shoutmon, we should leave now and scout the area. When we see the Troopmon flock toward the food stores, we'll know it's time to strike."
"Wait a second!" Tadayoshi interrupted confidently but then pulled back as he bashfully looked to Rebecca and mumbled. "I have to ask... are you the White Wolf? The idol? And, um, if you are, could I have your auto-"
"-this is not the time for trivial matters," Commandramon curtly interrupted his general. "Worry about your personal life after the task." The dinosaur with a machine gun walked away and turned back at his squad with a gesture of his head, nonverbally telling them to follow him. Yoshi frowned but nonetheless obeyed.
Commandramon had himself and Yoshi, along with Adrian and Shoutmon should they have followed him, perched on top of a small hill that overlooked the village and lying flat on their stomachs to make them harder to see. Tadayoshi himself could hardly see a thing given the time of night and distance, but Commandramon claimed to have a perfect view through his night-vision scope. "And now... we wait."

"Alright then... Guard Squad, follow me!" White Wolf commanded the Digimon that were temporarily under her leadership.
Oh god, I hope I don't screw this up... she thought as she lead the Digimon troops to their location... quietly and stealthily, of course. When the group reached the food stores, White Wolf took charge yet again.
"Alright... everyone ready? Let's do this..." White Wolf looked towards her own Digimon. "You two ready?"
"Blue Blaster!"
"Pepper Breath!"
First, the door would be frozen, making it unstable, then the Pepper Breath would cause the door to break entirely, leaving a gaping hole wide enough for someone to enter.
"Alright, everyone, let's do this!"
Meanwhile, Adrian and Shoutmon would follow Commandramon's lead, walking towards a small hill where they would observe the village. Adrian and Shoutmon couldn't really see either, so it was lucky that Commandramon claimed to have a night vision scope.

It seemed Devidramon's forces really were stretched thin: there were only two Troopmon behind the gates of the otherwise outdoor prorivision storage area, where crates of food were stacked dozens high. Both were caught off guard upon Gabumon's and Agumon's breach, but they also were able to swiftly raise their weapons. Instead of aiming for the invaders, though, they each aimed their rifles straight at the sky.. and fired. The pair of projectiles turned out to be flares, which soared high in the sky very quickly, blowing White Wolf's squad's cover - just as planned. But as soon as they fired off those flares, they trained their weapons on Agumon and Gabumon, to which the subordinate digimon responded by ducking behind whatever piles of food they could find.
The response to the call for reinforcements was quite swift; in moments, many tens of of Troopmon assembled outside a tent in the middle of a tent-neighborhood, only the central tent was so huge it had to house a very large digimon - specifically, Commandramon. As the troops assembled, Commandramon emerged and began shouting inaudible orders at his subordinates, looking very upset. Soon as he dismissed them, they began to sprint away between smaller tents in the direction of the flares. "Good thing this isn't a stealth job," Tadayoshi groaned as he watched the fireworks.
"Indeed. Now Devidramon is isolated, but every Troopmon in this district will be running for your friends. I hope they're good at what they do." Once Devidramon retreated back into his tent, Commandramon eyed Shoutmon and Adrian out of the corner of his eye then and addressed them. "Get down there and-" Commandramon paused, then scowled as his attention returned to his scope.
"What is it?"
"Half the Troopmon just... broke off. They aren't going to the food stores. They're going somewhere else."
"Does that change the plan?"
"No. Adrian and Shoutmon will engage Devidramon, and I'll provide cover from up here. Tadayoshi, I want you to keep your eyes on that second pack of Troopmon. I want to know where they are as long as you can see them."
"I'll try my best," Tadayoshi hedges in response, "But it's pretty dark." At least it was a job that wouldn't get Tadayoshi in the middle of the fighting, so it was an assignment he happily accepted.

Agumon and Gabumon were not expecting any Troopmon to actually be INSIDE, so their presence kinda freaked them out a little bit as they gulped. However, instead of aiming to attack them directly, they simply just shot flares into the sky. Right according to plan...
"Agumon! Gabumon! Attack now!" White Wolf commanded. And as instructed, both twins attacked either Troopmon.
"Pepper Breath!"
"Blue Blaster!"
Assuming they were each taken out by the attack, that's when the reinforcement Troopmon came. Smirking, White Wolf got out her bo staff that she usually has with her in the Digital World. "Alright! Attack!" She would then jump right into the Troopmon squadron and start smacking them with her bo staff.
She was actually fighting off the Troopmon. Of course, she was just one human...
Meanwhile, Adrian and Shoutmon were confused as well when the Troopmon broke up. "I don't like the looks of that..."
"No time for that, Adrian! Come on!"
And with that, the Tamer and Digimon broke off from the rest and headed straight towards Devidramon. "Shoutmon, digivolve!"
"Shoutmon, digivolve to... SuperShoutmon!" And just like that, the red dragon evolved to a taller humanoid dragon, with golden armor and a gold scarf. As he ran towards Devidramon, he fired a powerful fireball at the fiend.
"Enhanced Fastball!"

The two guard Troopmon dropped just as easily as White Wolf had predicted; they were thrown off by getting blasted by the twins, but it was the girl herself who really finished them. When reinforcements arrived, however, it probably became clear to Rebecca very quickly just why this assorted band of digimon was doing so poorly against these invaders: it turned out they weren't actually so keen on fighting. When given the order to attack, they advanced slowly and hesitantly. It was a strange reaction, given how much they outnumbered the Troopmon. And yet, the dozen Troopmon did not seem to account for this scared attitude. The sight of so many digimon, including two Tamer digimon, scared them enough that before anyone could finally cough up the nerve to attack, the soldier digimon all threw down their weapons and raised their hands in unison, almost like they were one mind.
If only things went so easy on the other prong. Tadayoshi called out the location of the splintering dozen Troopmon as long as he could see them, but by the time Shoutmon had reached Commandramon the boy had to resign himself, "That's it. They're too far away. Where could they be going?"
Commandramon gritted his teeth and reluctantly admitted, "I don't know. Just let me know if they come back." After that, the dino digimon continued peering through his scope, watching as Shoutmon digivolved and engaged, listening as Yoshi made a small sound of wonder but otherwise stayed remarkably focused. He observed as SuperShoutmon charged and launched his Enhanced Fastball. He inhaled sharply when Devidramon demonstrated remarkable reflexes by using his wings to cover himself and spare himself the damage of the attack.
"Precision Shot!" After using his scope's wind, distance, and various other aim-correcting features, Commandramon lined up with Devidramon's forehead and pulled the trigger. Crack! A round made of compressed yellow energy still traveled at about the same speed as a bullet and hit the mark when Devidramon was least expecting a second attack. This actually made him grunt and stumble backward a little, but his reaction wasn't all that more dramatic than the Fastball given the difference in rank.
When hit, Commandramon eyed the direction of the ridge and caught sight of the shooter. "I see... they've stooped to calling mercenaries now." There was no further warning before Devidramon howled almost in like a wolf-like manner at the sky, at which point the area seemed to get a whole lot darker. Suddenly, light was almost completely nonexistent all around Devidramon, like it was being sucked out. "I'll make an example ot of you: the Black Army's influence is unshakable even with human help!"
Commandramon attacked Devidramon with Precision Shot. Devidramon blocked Shoutmon's Enhanced Fastball but was hit by Commandramon's Precision Shot. Devidramon used Nightmare Shroud.
Nightmare Shroud: This digimon sucks out almost all light in the battleground, turning it completely dark out to a 150-foot radius for three posts. Opponents inside this radius see their accuracy reduced by 50%.

White Wolf noticed the hesitance of the other troop Digimon, which honestly baffled her. "Seriously? We outnumber these Troopmon, there's no reason we can't beat them!" She was proven correct, as the Troopmon acted like cowards and surrendered... which caused White Wolf and the twins to fall over, anime-style.
"Seriously?" Gabumon asked, standing upright. "The troops are that pathetic?"
"I think they were more scared of the sheer number of Digimon here than anything... but yeah, kinda pathetic," Agumon said as he shrugged. "Let me guess: now they'll just MAGICALLY help us out?"
Sadly, things WEREN'T going as planned for the other group. Devidramon had used Nightmare Shroud, which basically turned the area into a pitch black hell.
"Augh! I can't see! Enhanced Fastball!" SuperShoutmon yelled, throwing a fireball at a random direction and hoping it would actually hit Devidramon.
However, Adrian had seen where it went. "That's Tadayoshi's and Commandramon's direction..."

No, the Troopmon did not just magically help the squad out. They just stayed put while the other digimon started to relax a little, at which point a couple began lifting crates and hauling. Demimeramon advised Rebecca, "Ma'am, I believe you and a few of us should watch the Troopmon while the rest of us take some of this back to the hideout. It's your decision, of course."
Meanwhile...
"Down!" Commandramon grabbed the top of Tadayoshi's head with pushed it so far down that the boy was kissing the dirt. Bad as it tasted, Yoshi saw the fireball flying in his directinon, too, and so didn't struggle. It turned out the fireball was never a threat, though, at least to Yoshi; instead of sailing over his head, it actually hit the cliffs beneath them. "SuperShoutmon, check your target!" he then slid his rifle across the dirt to Tadayoshi. "Hold this a moment."
"Are you insane?"
"Don't shoot it," he clarified, "Just hold it." So Yoshi stayed down flat and did as told while Commandramon stood, reached for his pack, and extracted a small device the teen recognized as a grenade. "Bangsmoke out!" Commandramon then wound up and hurled the grenade the best that he could. Somehow, his incredibly strong arm combined with the inertia of the projectile and the difference in elevation delivered the bomb where it needed to be. "General, get up. We're going down there."
"I repeat my earlier question!"
"Would you rather risk staying up here where they might both attack us?" Well, Yoshi couldn't argue with that, so the pair both got on their feet and started to run down a path to reach the area.
While they travelled, the bangsmoke grenade detonated. Hopefully SuperShoutmon wasn't so incompetent as to be near it when it went off. Unfortunately, Devidramon definitely wasn't; after its momentary bright flash, he just chuckled as a comparatively smaller radius began to fill with smoke. Too bad all Devidramon had to do was circle the smoke until he had a direct line of sight, unaffected by his own artificial darkness, and used, "Demon Gale!" in an attempt to strike Adrian's digimon. His strategy seemed to be knocking out the Champion first, then easily eliminating the Rookie. SuperShoutmon's Enhanced Fastball missed Commandramon.Commandramon threw Bangsmoke in the general area of Devidramon and SuperShoutmon. Devidramon was outside the radius of Commandramon's Bangsmoke. Devidramon attacked SuperShoutmon with Demon Gale.
Commandramon's Precision Shot is on cooldown (one post remaining).
Bangsmoke: This digimon throws a grenade that can be set to detonate on contact or timed delay. Upon detonation, it creates a deafeningly loud crack, a blindingly bright flash of light, and a dark cloud of smoke, all of which extend to a 15-foot radius. Any digimon caught in the initial detonation are deafened and blinded for 1 post, and any enemy or ally either inside the smoke cloud or attempting to aim through it using natural sight or smell has their accuracy reduced by 30%. Any digimon using senses besides sight or smell, or with augmented sight/smell capabilities (such as this digimon's infared-enabled scopes), are immune to the accuracy reduction. The smoke lasts for 3 of the opponent's posts. Cooldown: 3 posts.
Demon Gale: This digimon opens his mouth and shoots a beam of darkness energy at the foe to deal darkness damage.

White Wolf heard the Demimeramon suggest hauling the food back to their camp while others kept watching. She looked back at the storage unit and decided that it was a good idea. "Good idea. Everyone, Agumon, Gabumon and I will watch over the Troopmon. The rest of you, grab as much food as you can carry and head back!"
"...yeah, stay there!" Agumon attempted to threaten the Troopmon after White Wolf gave her instructions, "If any of ya even move a single muscle I'll blast you with some Pepper Breath!"
"Agumon, what in Yggdrasil's name are you trying to do?" Gabumon asked his airheaded brother.
"Trying to intimidate them, duh! I think it's working!"
Back with Devidramon, SuperShoutmon STILL couldn't see a damn thing! "Augh! I hate being blind! Where did you go?!" Unfortunately, due to Nightmare Shroud, he did not see where the Bangsmoke had landed... which was right by his feet. It went off, making him even MORE blind! "MY EYES! THEY BURN!"
"Man, he is not having the best of luck..." Adrian mutters, trying to think of a way he could help out. He saw his chance when he noticed Devidramon about to attack SuperShoutmon! Immediately, he pulled out a card and slashed it.
"Digi-Modify! Bota Bubble activate!"
Almost immediately, a small force field formed around the vulnerable SuperShoutmon, nulling the attack.

The Troopmon, thankfully, were a bunch of good little prisoners. Perhaps part of that was because, besides having already been disarmed, they had no idea how far Agumon and Gabumon could digivolve or that, in fact, it was no further than they already were. Still, it didn't seem like a good risk to take from their view. So they were compliant while Commandramon's force carried food away and occasionally spat in their direction on the way out, making their way back toward the tree tunnel.
Of course, things weren't going so well on the other end, or at least not so smoothly. Bota Bubble spared SuperShoutmon some pain, but some temporary blindness and deafness clearly caught him off guard. Funny enough, though, that worked in Commandramon and Tadayoshi's favor: they were able to locate Adrian and SuperShoutmon by the sounds of the latter's screams and so soon appeared right by their sides. "Is it a good idea to fight inside here?"
"He will not come out even if we do." When he next heard Devidramon growl, Commandramon swiftly knelt down, raised his gun, and shot off a fully automatic barrage of bullets. "Bullet Burst!"
Judging by the fact that Devidramon simply laughed at the attempt, though, it probably missed. "The coward comes close... Bloodletter!" Waves of red were just barely visible in the low light that formed an X shape like two crossed swords - and they were making their way straight for Commandramon.
Commandramon attacked Devidramon with Bullet Burst. Commandramon's Bullet Burst missed Devidramon. Devidramon attacked Commandramon with Bloodletter.
Commandramon's Precision Shot is ready for use. Commandramon's Bangsmoke is on cooldown (2 posts remaining)
Bullet Burst: This digimon raises his rifle and fires small, high-velocity projectiles made of a pure energy at the opponent with a high rate of fire to deal damage.
Bloodletter: This digimon slashes the air, which summons waves of darkness energy that in turn fly at the opponent and cause deep wounds. This attack deals 150% the damage of average Devidramon damage over the course of three posts. Cooldown: 3 posts.

To Agumon, it was kind of funny how cooperative these Troopmon were being. He just couldn't stop chuckling at the situation unfolding in front of him.
"Show at least SOME dignity," Gabumon says, pushing his brother over so his face ends up hitting the ground.
"Owww... that hurt," Agumon complained as he raised his head up.
Again, things weren't going quite as planned with the other group that was facing Devidramon. Thankfully the blindness from the Bangsmoke ended, and SuperShoutmon was now able to see, and Tadayoshi and Commandramon were able to meet up with them!
"Yeah, our butts are getting kicked here," Adrian says, facing right at the angry Devidramon as Commandramon shot a Bullet Burst at it, which ended up completely missing. Then, SuperShoutmon saw something coming right at them: a giant, glowing red X!
"Molten Armor!" SuperShoutmon yells as the golden armor on him became covered in hot, rock-like magma, increasing his defense and taking the attack for Commandramon, still causing damage.
