"Hmph, speak for yourself Bellamy. After I'm gone I wouldn't mind haunting a place with a bit more...class than a mere forest. Like a mansion, or perhaps a castle. You know, something worthy of the Dark Lord's time." Yep, there he went again. No matter how many humbling experiences hit the imp, there was always just a bit of that Dio brand ego that was so typical of the small Impmon, that bloated pride always waiting to rear its ugly head and make itself known. And of course, to prompt Carlos to roll his eyes, something he was getting all too used to do.
Choosing to ignore this for the moment, however, the man simply paid attention to what the Keramon had to say, nodding a bit as she introduced herself.
"Well Mae, are your things too far from here?" He asked, clearly willing to help though admittedly part of it served as an excuse to explore around the somewhat ominous looking forest.
Then Dio found himself being poked by Buck, something the small megalomaniacal Impmon obviously did not take well. At all.
"...and just who gave you permission to poke the Dark Lord's royal belly, peasant?! The purple fiend complained with a frown of his own, taking a step back while trying to swat the boy's hand aside with an exaggerated gesture.
Carlos meanwhile, hearing the commotion he approached and grabbed the imp by the shoulder, not wanting Dio to get more physical with Buck over such a small thing. All the while trying (and failing) to keep a straight face at the situation.
"Easy Dio, he's just a kid, no need to go ballistic over this." Right, besides the ego they still had to work on that temper of his.

One of the Impmon was a lord? Well, that's actually pretty cool. Mae hadn't met one of those before. "Uh...Dark lord of what? Is it any specific part of the Dark Area...?" The Keramon inquired, curiously. "Also...Haunting would mean you wouldn't be resting in peace, right?” It was probably clear by this comment that she didn’t quite believe what Buck said about ghosts not being real.
Then why were there ghost Digimon? She looked to Carlos and just pointed down the tracks, further into the forest. "My memory's kinda fuzzy but they should be further in...Sorry..." The Keramon was a bit more incredulous at the aftermath of the poking test. Why were the faces so...sensitive? It was odd.
Without another word, the Keramon just decided to begin walking along the tracks in the direction she pointed. Things had to be around here somewhere. If anyone followed? Well, that's their choice. Mae had a slight inkling she wasn't really gonna like what she found anyways.

Buck couldn't help but exhale out his nose like he heard a half-amusing joke when Dio referred to himself as the Dark Lord. "You don't look much like the Dark Lord to me, pal," the young man stingingly retorted with a malicious, smug smirk, "More like the Dark Court Jester." Perhaps normally a mild-mannered young lad, that didn't mean he was gonna sit down for a direct insult. Even Wylde, typically showing little emotion but a neutral mask, had to snicker at that. Still, the ursine digimon felt the need to lightly tap Buck's upper arm a little to get his attention. "Huh?" when he had it, he pointed to the Keramon wandering away.
Whoops. The young man had almost forgotten about her. "Should we go?" the youngest Tamer of the group inquired of his partner. Wylde's only response was an uncertain shrug, however. "Er... why not? 'S not like we got som'n better to do. Hey! Mae!" Buck called as he chased the Keramon to catch up with her. "Sorry about before. You look scared, and we got nowhere to be. Wanna go together?"

Bellamy had to fight hard to think of a way to respond to Dio in this state. It was a little tricky to do so lately, particularly because Bellamy normally reacted with scorn toward others with huge egos, but, given what he went through with Dio in Old Terminus, the Impmon genuinely thought of him as a friend, so he thought of something that he could say that would keep him happy.
"Yeah, well, never know what ya might come across" Bellamy responded. While he had no interest in actual haunting, well, hopefully if Dio could pull off that gig without hurting anyone that'd be kinda cool?
Then... oh dear, Buck poked Dio. He took it about as well as Bellamy expected, but, thankfully was intervened with before it got nasty.
Colin supposed that things were established enough for them to at least trust each other, so, as the Keramon proceeded through the forest, he and his partners would follow. She had asked for possible assistance after all, accounting for the ghosts, so, the trio didn't feel like they needed to give any further consideration than to accompany her to assure this haunting didn't happen.
Then Buck went along and directly insulted Dio, calling him a dark court jester. Bellamy immediately went to damage control mode. "Easy there, pal, he doesn't get what he's sayin'" Bellamy whispered to the other Impmon, clasping his shoulder in an attempt to stop him doing something extreme. Hopefully Dio wouldn't go that way though.

"Hmph, finally! Some recognition!" Dio commented, almost ecstatic at finally finding someone that took his title as the Dark Lord seriously from the get go. Truth be told, he almost felt bad for being initially suspicious of the Keramon. She didn't seem so bad now, in fact Dio suddenly felt the need to help her out with her troubles, even if he rather talk a bit more about himself now that Mae got him going.
"Well, I'm not...quite sure of where really, my memory of those days isn't the best. But soon I'll pay the Dark Area a visit and find my rightful place, I'm sure." He added, practically puffing out his chest as he did so. Carlos simply rolled his eyes. Dio didn't need an ego boost of all things, but if it kept him from attacking the Keramon for no reason, then all the better.
Sadly, Buck didn't seem to want to humor the small imp, who didn't exactly took his "Jester" comment in stride.
"What. Did you. Just call me." His tone was flat. Unwavering. Calm. A very thinly veiled façade that kept the sheer anger and hurt pride hidden underneath.
Carlos bit his lip in concern as he noticed the imp's right hand emiting a barely noticeable red glow. He wasn't gonna take action yet, but it was clear his partner was considering the idea of either attacking the kid, or burning something in the vecinity in an attempt at getting the kid to respect him. Or to blow off some steam.
Luckily the man didn't have to intervene again, as Bellamy was quick to do so himself. Dio glared at him a bit too, though that was short lived as he heard what the other furry imp had to say. Had it been literally any other mon, he would have probably ignored him and carried on with his vengeance but...when it came from a friend to whom he owed his life like Bellamy? That was completely different.
The small megalomaniac sighed in exasperation a bit, pinching the bridge of his nose as he did so. "It's not worth it Dio. It's not worth it." He reminded himself mentally over and over, almost as if it were some sort of soothing mantra.
Soon enough though, the burning glow in his hand would fade, and he would glance both at Bellamy and Carlos again for a moment, looking somewhat...apologetic?
"Y-yeah, you're right. Apologies."
"Don't worry about it, let's just...get this thing over with." Carlos shook his head, prefering not to dwell on the subject too much as they began walking. Hopefully they could continue to avoid more bad situations just like these.

Mae gave a nodnod to Dio as she proceeded along, with an added bit of "Oh, that's fine. I don't remember a lot of stuff either!" And then she found herself being joined by the tamer of that Bearmon that had been accosting her earlier. Apologizing went a long way, though. So, the Keramon nodded. "Sure. I don't think going alone's really smart, and I wasn't really expecting much help, if any, so...thank you."
Of course, she heard it become tense back there, and she turned around. "...Please don't fight. That would be mildly inconvenient...I guess...? I mean...Hnn...I dunno..." It seemed like it had been resolved by the timely intervention of Bellamy. And the revelation that she had company along with her for this little excursion!
...It felt odd.
For more reasons than one. As the group proceeded further (if they did,) they'd probably feel like they were being watched. By more than one pair of eyes. What could that be?

Bellamy was relieved that Dio toned down on the aggression. As was Colin and Luke, obviously it was good to not make things worse with internal arguing. Especially when there may or may not be ghosts around. Not that Bellamy believed in them or anything.
Well then, now that the situation was de-fused, they continued into the woods. Even though they had initially come for a different reason, eh, this was probably a more urgent thing to do. The quarry and Trailmon track would still be there tomorrow and until the end of time, while Mae had seemed to be in need of assistance in the now. Even though she hadn't specifically asked, the trio were happy to be around, if only for safety in numbers. Plus with the amount of power Luke and Bellamy had, they felt they could deal with any 'threat' the ghosts posed, even if they did exist.
Still though, in the silence of the forest, as the sunlight seemed to fade through the ever thicker canopy above them, the twin beast type digimon did feel something... uncomfortable about things in here. It was then that Luke noticed something that made Colin and Bellamy completely startled.
"Where did the others go?" he asked, referring to Buck and Wylde. Colin and Bellamy turned to see that the two had disappeared.
"...I hope they just went back the way we came" Colin said, but a chill went down his spine regardless. Yet, if something had happened, surely they would've heard something? Oh boy, this was... troubling.

After that "small" disagreement had been defused, they all proceeded deeper into the forest, Carlos hoping his partner wouldn't clash as harshly again. The more they went inside the thick, the more it felt not only that they were being watched, but that they probably weren't welcome there. But that wasn't too worrying travelling in such a large group...
...but it wasn't until Luke spoke up that the duo noticed that Buck and Wylde were missing. They were just...gone. Banished without a trace. Suddenly both man and impmon found themselves feeling a cold sweat crawling down their back.
"Yeah...they probably just went back or something..." Carlos agreed with Colin, hoping thinking that was the most logical explanation.
"Hmph, or they chickened out." Dio added, trying to not sound too concerned about the other two's sudden dissapearance, continuing down the trail not wanting to think too hard on the whole thing. "W-whatever, it's their loss, let's just carry on."
As it was probably becoming obvious right now, densely forested areas carried a bit of an extra weight on Dio's shoulders after some rather unfortunate happenings, but he was doing a pretty good job at ignoring such uncomfortable feeling of deja vu, as he was almost convinced there was something out there, watching their every move. Even if it was though, he wasn't alone this time. He had Carlos and his other friends there. Things would work out just fine. Surely.
Still, the faster they could get out of that place, the better.

While the boy and the Bearmon did seem to vanish without a trace, it was very likely something else was afoot. Or...Some things, perhaps? They did go back. All things, all the evidence present suggested that.
But why? What lay at the entrance that was so important for one as stalwart as Wylde to actually go along with breaking off?
Mae lead her remaining friends on with a shrug. "...I can only hope they're fine." The Keramon murmured. To make and lose a friend this fast was a little...well, heavy. Fear seemed to grip them. Fear that Mae wholeheartedly understood. The place was dark. Scary.
And then she felt something cold in front of her, but not quite tangible, so the Keramon jumped back with an EEP!
Standing in front of them was a...spectral figure. Similar in shape to Bellamy and Dio, but not quite opaque enough to make out any colors. It was a pale purple, with a face on it's chest that...had it's eyes crossed out akin to Xs. "...Some may say you've met a terrible fate, or that the harbinger of unholy retribution has come to seek those of a particular political leaning." The impish specter spoke. "However, it is not in my nature to lie. I am not here to hu-"
He was promptly interrupted by Mae very quickly speaking, "HOLYSHITGUYSTHAT'SAGHOST."
...Specter groaned. "...Oh geez it's her again."

Colin thought that was the most likely explanation. If something had happened to them, surely they would've made a noise. Well... they couldn't do anything about it now that they were gone. As they continued into the forest, Bellamy felt a little surprised to feel Luke suddenly walk close to him, timidly looking around.
"You okay there, Luke?" Bellamy asked, grinning at his brother. "Come on, ghosts ain't real".
"Ghosts might not be, but... eh... I'm probably being paranoid" Luke admitted. While he was normally level-headed and logical, the Elecmon wasn't the bravest digimon in the world.
"Eh, don't worry, aniki, you've got me to keep ya safe!" Bellamy patted his shoulder. "Dang, shame we left the boombox behind, I wouldn't have minded a singalong".
"Bells, really?" Colin laughed. It was clear they were just having this conversation to make themselves less nervous.
Then, they saw it. They stopped walking, and laughing, staring at the appirition. Luke began to shiver a little, while Colin's jaw dropped.
"Y-you guys see that too, right?" Colin asked. Bellamy was momentarily stunned, but realized the "ghost" was talking to them. He recovered the quickest of the three, this Impmon wasn't afraid of no ghost.
"Yo what up?" he asked the ghost casually. "Her again? I take it you guys met before?" Bellamy looked between the two, ah, so this was why Mae had said there was ghosts, because, there technically was. "Say, are you that Impmon ghost that we've been hearin' legends about?"
"Bellamy... h-how can y-you talk like that?" Luke asked, bewildered.
"Crest of Tenacity baby!" Bellamy grinned, pointing to the red shining heart painted on his shoulder armor.

"Heh come on guys, we don't need a boombox when we can just make our own music." Carlos commented, trying to keep spirits up and away from those frightful and paranoid thoughts. The dissapearance of the other two had affected everyone, but if they succumbed to fear now they wouldn't be able to get much farther in. Despite his good intentions that comment only earned him an annoyed scoff from Dio, but for entirely different reasons.
"I swear to Yggdrasil if you try to beat box again I'll personally set this whole forest ablaz-" His threat was cut short however, when it appeared in front of them.
A ghost. The ghost of an Impmon, no less!
Truth be told, Mae's startled reaction scared them a bit more than the actual ghost himself, but his appearance was more than enough to send a shiver down to their very core. They stood frozen for a moment, eyes wide open and unable to utter a word, Carlos barely being able to nod once in response to Colin's question. Even Dio seemed at a complete loss for words in front of such a surreal image. That it was the ghost of an Impmon of all things did not help matters, almost as if he were looking into a bizarre mirror.
His shock stopped however, as soon as Bellamy greeted the ghost as if it was a perfectly normal ocurrence. either trying to save face in front of everyone or simply not wanting to be one upped in terms of bravery by Bellamy cleared his throat loudly, folding his arms as he glared at the ghostly aparition with an arrogant expression.
"You heard him, speak up spirit, the Dark Lord Dio has no patience for your incorporeal and ominous warnings."
"D-dude, please stop antagonizing the ghost." Carlos practically begged the imp, biting his tongue. If he had learned anything from all those ghost movies, angering a spirit was probably the worst thing they could do. Granted, knowing the average level of inteligence of most scary movie protagonists there was actually quite a long list of things that should never be done in such a situation, but still angering a possibly vengeful spirit was pretty high on the list.
"Mae, do you really know him?"

Mae didn't really feel like she could move after the shock of the ghost. The spirit looked the Keramon over, before doing the same to her company and nodding a few times. "...Lot of questions. Hokay. So. First off. I'm -one- of the Impmon ghosts. There's...more than one. I'm more recent, though. Second, I do know her. I babysat her before I died." That elicited a blink and a tilt of the head from the Keramon. "So...You were that Devimon that..." "Couldn't hurt a fly, yes." The spirit finished that one for her.
Specter then leveled his gaze at Dio. "You're the Dark Lord? I don't recall you coming into power. Though...I don't really recall much at all. As I was saying, I'm not here to hurt anyone but I do bring a warning. The other pair that went back is not safe. And the Keramon was followed." He said, getting closer to the group. Now that they could get a better look at him, it was clear that he didn't seem like a normal impmon. He lacked the face on his chest. His scarf was longer, and tattered, and he had four belts. One on each arm and two on his waist.
Plus, he was a ghostly white! With a cold aura around him to match. "So...How about I cut you a deal? Er. No. No. Not a deal. I can't really do much for bargaining. Er...Call it a request." The imp began. "I'm dead. As you might be able to ascertain. I can't quite reincarnate. Maybe not yet. I do have a theory on how to get around that, though."
"Please tell me I don't have to fight that thing if it's what I think it is. If it's following me then there's...really only one person that follows me." Mae piped up. "Frighteningly astute, little Meicoomon! Yeah, I'm asking if you could do me a solid and deal with the Slayer if you run into him. Get rid of him and I might be able to get out of here? Maybe?"
There were two things wrong here. One, Mae was a Meicoomon? And two, what the actual fuck was a Slayer? On the subject of Mae, she went from scared to looking like she was on the brink of panic. At least...as much as the constantly smiling Keramon could evoke. Specter glanced at her and remembered something. "...Oh. Oh. You weren't supo-...I am so sorry. Geez Louise..."

Bellamy gave an awkward kind of chuckle as Carlos and Dio made their remarks. He was mainly just kidding around, but didn't want to annoy his friends further about it. In fact randomly singing through a boombox would probably be something he wouldn't do as much these days.
Then the ghost appeared. Bellamy and Dio seemed to speak to it fearlessly, which made Colin and Luke really nervous about how it would respond. And eventually, respond it did.
The trio were surprised to hear that there were multiple ghosts in this forest. But they remained silent for a while as they told their story. So, this Impmon used to be a Devimon. That... sounded kinda cool actually. But they were all startled to hear that the other two might not be in a safe place. That they were in fact followed. The Impmon ghost approached, and Bellamy thus approached too, standing about ten feet away, kind of fascinated by his unique appearance. Bellamy too wore a belt around his waist to secure his shoulder armor and a small equipment pouch. Perhaps this was an Impmon variant like him? After all, Bellamy's fur and white belly kinda made him stand out a lot.
What the Impmon ghost said next made Colin curious now. He approached too, standing next to his partner. "So... you're dead, but you can't be reconfigured, right?" he asked, rubbing his chin. "So would that make you a spirit? As in the digimon that humans wield through totems? Or... something else?"
As he spoke more, it seemed most likely that he was something else. That he couldn't reincarnate before something was done first. And that thing was to deal with an entity known as the 'Slayer'.
"Heck, if we just gotta kick someone's ass, I'm down" Bellamy shrugged. The Impmon was immediately compelled to deal with this to help out the Impmon ghost in any way he could. He glanced at Dio, remembering what the two of them had seen in Old Terminus. Maybe... by doing this, they could make up for the one of their kind that they had seen be destroyed. Yes, that other Impmon had been an irredeemable asshole that seemed keen on killing them and loading their data, but, he didn't deserve what that Gizmon did to him.
And also, huh, Mae was a Meicoomon? "I dunno, she seems pretty Keramon-ish to me" Luke remarked, trying his best to relax through a little joke. Which fell flat as Mae seemed to fly into a panic. Bellamy rushed over to her at once.
"Easy there. Don't worry. If this Slayer guy is someone scarin' you, we'll deal with him" he said. On this, Colin agreed. If this Slayer was a problem, they'd do what they could to solve it.

Though the ghosts comment about not remembering Dio coming into power stood out for the little imp like a sore thumb. "You don't?" Dio seemed almost miffed by this, but let it slide for the time being, there were more pressing matters anyway. "That's fair actually, I don't remember much about that period of time, heh. It's been a while." He added with a shrug.
Sure, there was the whole "actually a demon lord" bit, but this was probably not a good moment to bring it up. At any rate, while the ghost's situation was a rather bizarre one, the solution couldn't have been more straightforward.
Beating up someone that was after her? Sounded straightforward enough. Were it up to Carlos he would have rather avoid confrontations for a while, but if Colin and the twins were sticking out for the keramon then he really had no excuse to back away. Besides Mae looked genuenly frightened and worried, there was no way they would leave her to fend for herself like that.
With renewed confidence, the man nodded at Bellamy's words. "Yeah! We're six against one, it will be easy! Right Di-" He had to stop himself as soon as he saw just how tense his own partner looked. It wasn't hard for him to figure out why: Dio was...less on keen on wanting to help out as soon as the spirit said a bit too much regarding Mae's...Meicoomon roots.
As if on instinct the imp's hand immediatelly reached for his own neck, scratching the side of it that was obscured by the red bandanna, where two rather large bite scars were. After some all too recent and all too painful events Dio had developed a bit of a distaste for Meicoomons in general, and while his distrust was mostly aimed at the Meicrackmon side of that evolutionary line, just being in the general vicinity of anything vaguely similar was enough to make him feel uneasy.
Well, at least this explained why he felt weird about this Keramon. That feeling, that smell...it was unmistakeable. He wasn't too sure about this anymore, and it was obvious. Both for Carlos and anyone else. Said human wasted no time however, placing a hand on the imp's shoulder gently.
"Dude, you ok?"
"Y-yeah, why wouldn't I be?" He barely muttered back, prompting the man to shake his head. The last thing he wanted was for his partner to go through a bad moment once again, and he was more than willing to give him an exit to this if he wanted it.
"You sure? If you rather sit this one out..."
"I'm fine!" The imp was quick to snap back, his voice booming to a rather loud level for such a small creature, taking the man aback. Dio seemed rather regretful of his sudden outburst though, sighing as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Sorry...let's just go and beat this slayer or whatever."

"Perhaps not yet." Specter explained. He really didn't know the ins and outs of his condition at present, so he didn't have a lot to tell Colin. "...No humans have come this way in a long, long time. I wouldn't know if that's my fate or not." The ghost looked to Dio and nodded. "Sorry. I've been like this a while, so I'm...out of the loop, as the youngsters put it."
Mae had covered her eyes. She had been covering her eyes this whole time, really. "T-That's my champion form. It's awful. It's awful..." She felt like she could feel at least one pair of eyes on her that just...bled with animosity. Bellamy did calm her a bit. She wasn't covering her eyes anymore at the very least. "...Dio doesn't sound very fine. Sounds about as awful as I feel." She mumbled. The Keramon felt all levels of tense, so it didn't seem like she was capable of much, if anything.
A loud noise sounded from above the trees. Like a sharp, flat wooden surface striking against the tree. Those who looked up could make out a vaguely humanoid figure wielding a...something, with two glowing red eyes and a third...yellow eye on it's arm? "Found you." It's voice was, in all honesty, actually downright disgusting to hear. Like text-to-speech garbage.
It had made friends.
This will not stand.
Specter glanced up and coughed. "...And then there's -this- asshole, showing up the moment I mention him. Piss off, Kappy!" Mae looked up, too. Why was that name familiar? Odd. Then she saw the figure and yelped! "THAT'SHIMTHAT'SHIMTHAT'SHIMKILLITWITHFIRECRAZYGIGGLE!"
Mae, in a panic, fired a ball of light at the figure, and it briefly illuminated the shadows around him to reveal...A purple Yaksamon with a very discolored arm that...had an eyestalk growing from it? That was all that could be seen before the ball of light struck him.
And it did nothing.
"No."
